okay here’s what kind of queen i think some select streamers would be on drag race
dream- underdog frontrunner . he is your jinx monsoon . musically talented has the potential for some brilliant runways with a quirky influence but cannot sew for the life of her survives seeing challenges on the charisma and storyline as a front runner garnering audience sympathy with his many wounds and ailments .
george - shady queen / crafty queen . we’ve seen him in front of a sewing machine he can amend and alter and whip up a garment using supplies from the fabric wall if he has to . probbaly will win the ball challenge . kind of a trinity the tuck vibe bc he is funny naturally but performances in comedy challenges could be a banger or underwhelming. WILL read the girls WILL confront ppl WILL be the drama of the season .
sapnap - villain . mans is getting the villain edit whether he likes it or not for being a very loud person a la kandy muse where’s he’s not a FULL villain edit he has a lot of redeeming qualities but bc he’s loud and shouts he’ll get the nasty edit. he’ll pull out some banger runways and form connections with queens maybe into a little group of shady bitches and will probably ace acting challenges
hannah- look queen of the season hands down . she’ll have like violet chachki high fashion haute couture influence she’s a fashion queen living in the catwalk . she’ll do unexpectedly well in improv and comedy challenges but the highlight of her career is her radiant runways
bbh - campy queen . like classic drag. like pantomime drag . like pulling from rlly old school references and giving the runway some comedy and creating a character for each runway he walks
sylvee - vintage queen . your dakota schiffer your robbie turner your marcia x3 . draws inspiration from anything from maybe 50s-90s from things like grease, valley of the dolls, disco, the brady bunch clueless or celebs from those eras like brigitte bardot jennifer aniston madonna etc and does it phenomenally
foolish - your pageant queen . i know sapnap is from texas but i can see foolish in some classic texas pageant drag a la kennedy davenport a la alyssa edwards mistress isabelle brooks you get it . beautiful classic gowns HUGE hair . fashion but not in the same way as hannah . hannah is modern high fashion foolish is classic elegance .

Baldwin Faces Manslaughter
LOS ANGELES (OnlineColumnist.dom), Jan. 20, 2023.--New Mexico authorities decided yesterday to charge 64-year-old Kid Rock star Alec Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter for the Oct. 26, 2021 shooting death on the set of “Rust” of 42-uyear-old cinematographer Halnya Hutchins. PR expert Erick Schiffer said his indictment was a “bad day for Baldwin’s brand” when Santa Fe County District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies and special prosecutor Andrea Reed announced their long-awaited decision to pursue charges. “He’s going to face justice for what should never have happened.and this is an incident that will cause him to be in the short-term a future pariah in Hollywood,” said Schiffer. Baldwin’s problem is that he granted so many interviews after the fatal shooting that he’s left a record that’s going to haunt his defense attorney to make any rational argument when Baldwin already told the world what happened.
Baldwin’s attorney Luke Nikas called New Mexico’s decision to charge him with manslaughter a “terrible miscarriage of justice and that Baldwin had “no reason to believe there was a live bullet ion the gun—or anywhere on the movie set,” repeating the same flawed logic that practically guarantees conviction. Miscarriages of Justice happen after faulty verdicts, not before the case is heard by a jury. But with Baldwin telling ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that he didn’t pull the trigger, it’s made convincing a jury all the more difficult. What’s his attorney going to say, that he didn’t realize he actually pulled the trigger or that he only pulled back the hammer. Or that whatever happened that fateful day on the Rust set, he was told the gun was “cold,” no live ammo in the chamber? Most juries would have their heads spinning with all the past smoking blowing by Baldwin in national TV.
Even crisis communication or damage control expert Schiffer said Baldwin’s claim that he didn’t pull the trigger a “big lie,” that “was not only horrifyingly dumb but defies gun physics,” saying Baldwin would have a hard time selling his story to the jury. Despite all the obstacles, Schiffer still thinks Baldwin can eventually salvage at least some of his career because the public has a short memory. “He will enter a rarely disclosed black list for the time being until this gets resolved,” Schiffer said, not sure whether a guilty verdict in New Mexico would make things worse. Crisis expert Evan Nierman, CEO of Global Crisis PR Firm Red Banyan and author of “Crisis Averted,” said the “charges alone do not signal an immediate end to his career.” Conviction on manslaughter charges would certainly set things back, requiring more acts of contrition on Baldwin’s part to get beyond the crisis.
Crisis and damage control are not rocket science but Baldwin, so far, has not done enough to put himself in the public’s good graces. Baldwin made the cardinal mistake thinking he could get ahead of the crisis by granting high profile TV interviews, like the one with Stephanopoulos. Unlike most defense attorneys, crisis experts sometimes think exculpatory explanations can convince the public that Baldwin did nothing wrong. But instead to trying the case in the court of public opinion, Baldwin made his legal defense far more complicated. Unfortunately for Baldwin and the set’s armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who certified the gun safe, New Mexico’s involuntary manslaughter charge doesn’t require intent to commit bodily harm. Involuntary manslaughter only involves convincing a jury that Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed engaged in negligence on the set.
Balwin’s attempt to excuse his culpability has made things much worse for the multimillionaire Kid Rock actor, who really doesn’t have to work another day in his life. But, like most people with active careers, they want to go out on their terms, not blackballed by the industry. Schiffer thinks Baldwin “hurt himself in unimaginable ways especially with the public, who has, for some time, wondered how he ever allowed this to happen, and who wondered why any adult would think it would be okay to aim a gun at anyone,” said Schiffer. Gun safety laws require gun handlers to know what’s in the chamber, to inspect it personally. Baldwin claimed he was innocent because he was told the gun was “cold,” had no live ammunition in the gun. But that ultimate inspection lies with anyone handling a lethal weapons before point it and pulling the trigger. Baldwin’s denial that he pulled the trigger won’t sit well in court.
Damage control requires total control over the narrative following regrettable incidents. Most egregious incidents can be helped with an effective damage control strategy but only if perpetrators listen to expert before they shoot off their mouths in public. Baldwin thought he could control the narrative by giving his own version of the events but only made matters worse for himself. Crisis and damage control experts can only do so much when clients make unforgivable blunders. Baldwing telling Stephanopulos that he didn’t pull the trigger dug himself into a bigger hole because it just made no sense to anyone. Blaming the incident on Gutiierrez-Reed and producer David Halls made Baldwin look cavalaier, insincere and trying to deceive the public. “He relied on the professionals with whom he worked, who assured him the gun did not have live rounds,” said Baldwin’s attorney Luke Nikas.

What Ready-To-Wear Runway Shows Looked Like in the ’90s
Though vastly diverse and designed based on different eras, ideologies, places, concepts, and feelings, there is something incredibly nostalgic and chic about ‘90s runway shows. Beloved supermodels Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Carla Bruni, and Claudia Schiffer all dominated the runway apart from being off-duty ‘90s celebrity fashion icons. Today we will be traveling back in time and showcasing some of our favorite ‘90s Ready-To-Wear collections and pieces.

Gianni Versace’s Ready-To-Wear collection for Fall/Winter 1995 year was said to be inspired by the swinging ‘60s. I don’t know about you, but ‘60s recreations with a ‘90s twist sound like an absolute dream. This show featured a plethora of go-go boots, miniskirts, checkered print mini dresses, silk gowns, matching co-ord skirt suit sets, and white gloves.

Karl Lagerfeld’s Spring 1994 RTW show for Chanel was all about pastel tweed suits, accessorizing with chain belts and necklaces, and suspenders. This show even featured Chanel branded roller blades, ever so fitting for the ‘90s.

Anna Sui’s signature notes of rock, fun, and romance were definitely present in her Spring/Summer 1994 RTW collection. An eclectic mix of denim outerwear, knitted beanies and bags, lace and linen mini babydoll dresses, and matching silk pantsuit sets covered this runway. The unforgettable finale concluded with Naomi Campbell, Linda Christy strutting down the runway together in pastel feather headpieces, babydoll dresses, bow-tied shoes with ankle socks, and painted wooden cake purses.

You might recall seeing runway pictures of Alexander McQueen’s Fall/Winter 1998 collection and its infamous closing of a model in a red gown and matching headpiece standing in a circle of fire. The collection’s theme and inspiration focused mainly on Joan of Arc and Catholicism, while models strutted down the runway with bright red colored contacts.

Would this really be a ‘90s runway compilation if Mugler wasn’t included? Absolutely not. Thierry Mugler’s Spring/Summer 1992 RTW collection focused on wild and western inspiration, featuring pieces like bustiers, leather shorts and pants, bell-shaped gowns, with notes of mesh fabrics, cut-outs, tassels, exaggerated headwear, and impeccably structured silhouettes.
We hope you enjoyed this trip back to the future, while sighing and awing along with us. Nineties runways were an absolute daydream, I know I personally won’t stop deriving inspiration from them anytime soon. Thanks for reading, we hope you stop by next week for more ‘90s fashion appreciation!

[Detailed descriptions are under the cut.]
[Image Description 1: A screenshot of the headline of an article published in USA Today by Elise Brisco. The headline reads: “Dave Chappelle says he’s ‘Team TERF,’ defends J.K. Rowling in new Netflix comedy special” /end ID 1]
[ID 2: Another headline from an article by Zoe Schiffer which reads: “Netflix suspends trans employee who tweeted about Dave Chappelle special.” The subheading beneath it reads: “Internally, trans employees and allies are asking executives tough questions about the line between commentary and hate” /end ID 2]
[ID 3: A second headline by Zoe Schiffer reading: “Netflix just fired the organizer of the trans employee walkout.” The subheading reads: “The company suspects they leaks metrics about the Dave Chappelle special to the press” /end ID 3]
[ID 4: An except from an AV Club article which reads: “Chappelle is one of the most popular stand-up comedians today, and we have a long standing deal with him. His last special “Sticks & Stones,” also controversial, is our most watched, stickiest and more award winning stand-up special to date. As with our other talent, we work hard to support their creative freedom – even though this means there will always be content on Netflix some say is harmful, like Cuties, 365 Days, 13 Reasons Why, or My Unorthodox Life.
Several of you have also asked where we draw the line on hate. We don’t allow titles on Netflix that are designed to incite hate or violence, and we don’t believe The Closer crosses that line. I recognize, however, that distinguishing between commentary and harm is hard, especially with stand-up comedy which exists to push boundaries. Some people find the art of stand-up to be mean-spirited but our ...” /end ID 4]
[ID 5: Another excerpt from an article, this one from Kotaku, which reads: “... already marginalized groups, hate, violence etc.) Last year, we heard similar concerns about 365 Days and violence against women. While some employees disagree, we have a strong belief that content on screen doesn’t directly translate to real-world harm.
The strongest evidence to support this is that violence on screens has grown huge fog over the last thirty years, especially with first party shooter games, and yet violent crime has fallen significantly in many countries. Adults can watch violence, assault and abuse – or enjoy shocking stand-up comedy – without it causing them to harm others. We are working hard to ensure marginalized communities aren’t defined by a single story. So we have Sex Education, Orange is the New Black, Control Z, Hannah Gadsby and Dave Chappelle all on Netflix. Key to this is increasing diversity on the content team itself.” /end ID 5]
[ID 6: A screenshot of an Instagram post made by Hannah Gadsby. The post consists of a single image of black text on a white background. The text reads: “Hey Ted Sarandos! Just a quick note to let you know that I would prefer if you didn’t drag my name into your mess. Now I have to deal with even more of the hate and anger that Dave Chappelle’s fans like to unleash on me every time Dave gets 20 million dollars to process his emotionally stunted partial world view. You didn’t pay me nearly enough to deal with the real world consequences of the hate speech dog whistling you refuse to acknowledge, Ted. Fuck you and your amoral algorithm cult... I do shits with more back bone than you. That’s just a joke! I definitely didn’t cross a line because you just told the word there isn’t one.” The caption of the post reads: “Yes I watched the whole thing. Leave me alone,” with the following hashtags “trans is beautiful,” “comedy is dead,” and “I killed it.” /end ID 6]
this is not an onion headline

Basti pensare a Frank Oz In & Out, Zoe in Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane.

Fake News Slams Trump on Baldwin
LOS ANGELES (OnlineColumnist.com), Nov. 6, 2021.--Slamming 75-year-old former President Donald Trump for opining about 63-year-old actor/producer Alec Baldwin, fake news media has decided to defend Baldwin for his Oct. 21 shooting of 43-year-old “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Baldwin said he was told the gun was “cold” by Asst. Director Dave Halls, something Baldwin didn’t check before pulling the trigger. No one knows why the fake news has decided to defend Baldwin while they had no problem trying-and-convicting Trump of Russian collusion in the U.S. media. “In my opinion, he had something to do with it. But if nothing else, how do you take a gun, whether it’s loaded or not loaded, how do you take a gun, point it at somebody that’s not even in the movie, and just point it at this person and pull the trigger, and now she’s dead?” Trump asked. For that statement, the fake news says Trump accused Baldwin of First Degree murder.
If you listen to the fake news, Baldwin has plenty of excuses why he pointed the gun gun and pulled the trigger at Hutchins, he’s not responsible. Only Trump’s responsible to colluding with Russia, even after cleared by former Special Counsel Robert Mueller March 23, 2019. Every opinion Trump has is attacked by the fake news because he must be prevented from running again in 2024. Only in Hollywood can someone point a gun, pull the trigger and kill someone and blame it on someone else. Can you imagine in the military if you shoot and kill you comrade and tell your commanding officer you didn’t know your gun was loaded? Only in Hollywood can you shoot someone, blame it your crew, then get bailed out by the media. Trump pointed out that Baldwin’s been prone toward erratic behavior, getting into fights, screaming at his daughter on videotape, etc.
Trump didn’t say that Baldwin deliberately shot Hutchins with the intent to cause her bodily harm. What he did raise was the legitimate point that he had no business pointing, pulling the trigger and shooting a Halyna because she was not part of the script for a shooting scene. Halyna was the director of photography, not part of the actors involved in any of the scenes. Trump called Baldwin on Christ Stigall Show podcast a “sick guy,” prompting the fake news to distort completely what he said. Trump didn’t say Baldwin committed First Degree murder, he simply said he was a “sick guy.” Trump didn’t like Baldwin’s portrayal of him on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” for at least two years, lampooning the ex-president. “Even if it was loaded, and, you know, that’s a weird thing, may he loaded it,” Trump said, speculation how the bullet got into the prop gun’s chamber.
Today’s media seeks to exonerate Baldwin, passing off the responsibility to other members on the “Rust” set in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Calling Baldwin a “sick guy” prompted the press to dismiss Trump’s entire premise that someone operating a hand gun bears responsibility for when the gun’s discharged. Whether or not Baldwin had anything to do with loading the gun, he still had responsibility of knowing whether or not the gun was safe to point and pull the trigger. According to the fake news, Baldwin had zero responsibility for the Oct. 21 “accidental” shooting cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Hutchins last words were, “Oh this is not good,” after taking the 45 caliber round in the abdomen before she died. No one in the press wants to hear Trump’s comments that Baldwin was a “sick guy,” despite the Santa Fe County Sheriff continuing to investigate the crime scene.
When you consider that Baldwin pointed the gun and pulled the trigger, it’s inconceivable that the Santa Fe County Sheriff could exonerate him completely because he’s the one that killed Hutchins. Whether there’s other responsibility assuaged to the “armorer” Hannah Gutierrez Reed or Asst. Director Dave Halls is anyone’s guess but certainly the primary focus of any investigations has to be on Baldwin. Crisis communication expert Eric Schiffer thinks Baldwin has already hurt his brand talking to the media. But no matter what Baldwin says, he’s the No. 1 suspect to the New Mexico Sheriff because he pulled the trigger. “He’s a troubled guy. There’s something wrong with him. I’ve watched him for years. He gets into fistfights with reporters . . . I mean, everything he does, he’s a volatile guy. He’s a nutjob, Trump told Stigall, raising more questions about Baldwin.
Discounting all of Trump said about Baldwin, Santa Fe authorities still have to figure out why Baldwin pointed a prop gun, loaded or not, at the cinematographer, when she wasn’t part of the screenplay. Trump clearly doesn’t like Baldwin for whatever reason. But it’s absurd that the media so readily defends Baldwin because he claims he didn’t know the gun was loaded. Whether or not Baldwin points fingers at Reed or Halls, he’s still the one that pointed-and-pulled the trigger. Trump’s got a good point when he says that Baldwin should not have pointed-and-pulled the trigger at Hutchins no matter what because she’s not part of the screenplay. But if Baldwin’s so innocent, why has the media rushed to his defense? There’s no question that Alec was not supposed for point-and-shoot the gun at Hutchins, because she was not an actor in the Rust screenplay in any shooting scene.

Fairy tales never lose their power to affect us, no matter how old we get. Jeffrey Mousseau’s beautiful production of The Snow Queen at Ancram Opera House both moves and delights us as we root for the good guys to triumph over evil.
Mousseau, co-director of Ancram Opera House (with Paul Ricciardi) and director of The Snow Queen, has partnered with Barbara Wiechmann, his frequent collaborator, who adapted this story from Hans Christian Andersen and wrote lyrics for the music composed by Lisa Dove. Dove and Wiechmann’s version of this well-known fairy tale has previously been seen at The Kennedy Center, HERE Arts Center in New York City and Siena College.
Andersen’s story is no stranger to adaptations in every form: animated films, stage plays, musicals, ballets, television shows, video games and operas. It has inspired C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Disney’s Frozen. Wiechmann’s script differs from the original (written in 1844), mainly in its use of two male narrators: the Man (James Occhino), who is a writer (perhaps Andersen, struggling against his own demons) and his younger self: the Boy (Shawn Adiletta). They are haunted by a recurring nightmare: the devil’s magic mirror, which distorts everything beautiful into ugliness and turns all good people bad, breaks into a million pieces, lodging splinters of evil into the boy’s heart, freezing it, and into his eye, removing all human feeling and turning him against the people he loves. When he wakes, the boy is obsessed by the dream of those splinters, seeking a way to remove them, so people will find the good within him. The man attempts to help the boy by narrating the story of The Snow Queen.
Following Andersen’s story, Wiechmann includes seven sections, featuring a young man named Kai (Adam Basco-Mahieddine), who is the personification of the boy’s nightmare: it is he who was struck by the splinters and is kidnapped by the evil Snow Queen (Cheyenne See), his dear friend Gerda (a terrific Katie Birenboim), who braves horrendous obstacles in order to save him, and a variety of talking animals, flowers, and strange people. Three talented musicians: Elizabeth Gerbi, pianist, musical director and conductor, Louis Rizzo, cellist, and Emma Piazza, violinist, provide the music for both the songs and the underscoring of much of the dialogue.

The contributions of the design team cannot be overstated. The brilliant Sarah Edkins, set designer, provides a gleaming white snowscape both onstage and below it, creating two different playing areas draped in white fabric. The boy, a clever storyteller, often uses origami-type cut-outs to enhance his tales. Edkins has enlarged this technique to create white cut-outs of all different shapes and sizes, which hang from the ceiling of the stage and below, often attached by strings to a track that enables them to be moved. Costume designer Denise R. Massman has dressed everyone in white—even the floor and music stands are white!—and created fabulous head coverings for both animals (a crow, a reindeer) and people (the silver-jeweled headpiece for the queen, the crazy hat of an old conjuring woman, and the animal skin that dons the head of the Robber Girl). Lighting designer Ayumu “Poe” Saegusa injects colors in into the landscape through overhead lights and the back cyclorama, and takes advantage of the glass chandelier to suggest the shards of the mirror that has been shattered. Sound designer Alexander Sovronsky’s effects add to the tension of the piece.
According to Ricciardi, this new work is a “concert with storytelling”—a first-time genre for this compact theatre. Several actors hold scripts (in the form of pale blue storybooks), including the narrators, and the ensemble. In a nod to Brecht, Mousseau seats performers on both sides of the lower playing area (on white chairs, naturally) when they are not embodying specific characters. They contribute sounds when seated, and rise to surround the action in song and story. Mousseau utilizes every part of the playing area, moving his actors up and down the two side staircases, and the center aisle as well. Much of the action is mimed while the narrator, usually seated on an armchair below the stage, informs us of what is happening. But none of this prevents us from becoming involved in Gerda’s desperate attempts to find and save Kai. Mousseau is well-versed in the use of theatrical techniques and tableaux to capture his audience, though perhaps an intermission (the play runs two hours), given the fact that the play is divided into several segments, might have been helpful.
The performers are a joy to watch—they are 100% committed to these fantastical characters and events. The action unfolds through narration, dialogue and song. The play feels more like a story with music rather than a musical: the songs further the plot but are not particularly memorable, except for the final one, which leads to a moving ending. There are traces of The Wizard of Oz in Gerda’s blue dress, red shoes, and the fact that despite the help she receives along the way, the power to save her friend is within her.
There are several standouts among the company: first and foremost Birenboim as Gerda, whose beautiful singing voice and heartfelt struggle immediately engage us. Surprisingly there is humor sprinkled throughout the work as evidenced by Brian Demar Jones’ Crow, with his intellectual veneer, David Perez-Ribada’s reindeer, Bac, whose outsized machismo leads him on to more and more dangerous deeds, Lauren Bell’s Robber Girl, who parades her bloodthirstiness even as she saves Gerda, and the competition between Occhino’s Man and Adiletta’s Boy, as they vie to determine who is the real narrator. Narrators have to decide whether to be unobtrusive observers or actual players. One of the most effective aspects of James Occhino’s Man is how he reacts to everything that happens—his sympathy for the plight of the heroes, for the boy within and without, the emotional involvement of his words as he tries to keep up with swelling music and passionate dialogue, and the peaceful slumber (is it slumber?) when all is resolved.
After years of battling against evil, we are told that the young man and woman, reunited, are now “very old but still children.” That’s how the Ancram audience feels and that’s why this production will appeal to everyone. Think of a circus ringmaster’s opening line: “Ladies and gentlemen and children of all ages.”
THE SNOW QUEEN runs from December 6—15. December 6, 7, 13 at 7:00 and December 8, 14, 15 at 2:00. Tickets may be purchased online at ancramoperahouse.org. Children are admitted free (age nine and older).

What's 2018 Hold For The Secondary Market? Let's Ask! Part 1
As we head into 2018, I reached out to a bunch of brokers and prominent thought leaders on tickets and the secondary market for their opinions on what would be the big challenges and opportunities for the industry in the new year.
To help make this a little more digestible for people, I’m going to break this down into 2 or 3 parts since I have received responses from about 25 brokers right now.
Here’s part 1…
Don Shano, Ticket Wise Guy:
Challenge: Google AdWords but you don’t have the behind the scenes info to speak about it in it’s full spectrum.
Opportunity: Why would I give up that info…
Troy Kirby, Tao of Sports podcast, author, thought leader:
The lack of understanding on pricing mechanisms of the primary/secondary are the biggest challenge as well as the biggest opportunity.
Jim Barr, CEO of AnyTickets.com:
Challenges: The biggest challenges I see for the industry in 2018 is as digital ticketing becomes the primary way all tickets are sold and the boards continue to cut deals with teams and venues the brokers ability to protect their seats. I also look at Fan Verified as a true threat to brokers being able to get inventory. This is also a consumer issue as less inventory creates higher prices.
Opportunities: Growth, brokers must embrace technology. By this I do not mean bots but they must look for ways to make their businesses more efficient and be able to look at their own data to make the best decisions on what to buy and where to sell their inventory
Ken Solky, CEO of Las Vegas Tickets:
The biggest challenge is the biggest opportunity…
Ken Lowson, Formerly of WiseGuy Tickets, now TixFan:
Challenge: Biggest challenge is going to be Transparency efforts and how it’s dealt with.
Opportunity: Alternative secondaries that focus on customer satisfaction.
Hannah Boyes, International Ticketing Expert based in the United Kingdom:
The opportunities are endless but when will the primary market start listening to the secondary!
Challenge: I think the biggest challenge in the secondary market over here is the transparency and trying to separate bots from the market. As customers get confused and especially when performers keep getting involved, there will always be people who have friends drop out why shouldn’t they make some more money!
Levi Blachman, President of StubWorld:
Challenge: The challenge is that most teams believe they can create a secondary market on their own through single-game dynamic pricing. In reality, they’re taking away the natural demand of once was a “sought out” ticket to an event.
My prediction is that fans stop going to games because of this and that when the teams finally lower their prices back to reasonable levels, it’ll be too late.
Opportunity: Working together with the teams/venues by creating reasonable pricing which addresses and avoids the above.
Charlie Kaufman, CEO of SeatsLink:
Challenge: I feel the biggest challenge for me will be the ways in which trends in ticketing (ie Verified Fan) as well as possible legislation might affect my access to inventory, not to mention supply in general. I fear that I might not be able to survive any developments that would effectively put the “squeeze” on brokers.
Opportunity: Biggest opportunity for me I think is in the development of my service model, for example the concierge piece that allows event-goers access to activities that compliment the event they have tickets for. Not only will that help me to differentiate my product from others in the market, but I’m excited for the ways in which I can market what I have once that’s in place. What I really love about being in the resale space is the ways in which I can differentiate what I have and what Seatslink does.
Mike Guiffre, VP of Sales at TicketCity:
Challenge: Biggest challenge is google utilizing PPC personalized targeting at an increase costs that drives up costs for middle and smaller sized businesses.
Opportunity: Biggest Opportunity is teams and venues starting to understand the need for open distribution. The opportunity now is to understand how to utilize these platforms to their top potential.
(risk management, early sales, revenue maximization etc)
J Cobb, VP of Broker Services at Ticket Evolution:
Challenge: As far as the secondary market I would say for brokers it would be consolidation and the resulting cancellation of seats they own as well as just overall tighter controls on inventory (including delayed ticket releases and after-purchase cancellations), which I suspect will eventually come back to bite the primary in the ass.
Opportunity: I look forward to the elimination of PDF and “screenshot” tickets as we move to transfer-only ticketing which I believe is best for everyone, including the customer.
Jaima Schiffer, Business Partnerships at Ticket Galaxy:
Challenge: The big challenge revolves around partnership. Who is a partner? Who is an exchange? What does a partner really mean?
Opportunity: Reaching the consumer is the biggest opportunity. There’s a lot of grey space and the primary side needs a partner that can help them reach their customers.
Matt DeWire, Co-Founder at Valhalla Tickets:
Challenge: VC money is flooding into the secondary market and it is creating an unstable market for the entire industry. It creates an environment where we have to question is a partnership really a partnership and where the membership model is being used to accelerate an organization’s expense calendar.
Opportunity: The opportunity lies in being able to build relationships on the customer side and the partner side. There are a lot of deals that are being made today that aren’t financially prudent. They are wise in the short term, but a lot of these crazy deals will fail. And someone will need to be there to pick up the pieces.
Part 2, coming in a few days…
