I am sorry. I’m sorry. For all of it. I’m sorry for that. And I’m sorry for… I’m just sorry.

Mon-El:  My name is Mon-El.
Kara extends her hand, Mon-El thinks about it the tiniest bit, Looks at her, Takes her hand. Begins to smile.
Tumblr media
And by the time he says his name he is already back to upbeat charming mode.
Tumblr media
I love the little nod of acknowledgement she does. It helps the handshake linger. Makes it feel more memorable.
And this is also the point where the tale of Kara’s rosy cheeks starts.

After the Fort Rozz mission, the last thing Winn expected he would want to do was seek Brainy out.
Yet, for some inexplicable reason, he did.
(Maybe it was because he caught the look on Brainy’s face when J’onn praised Winn and not him for the “message in a bottle” idea, even though Brainy originally suggested it as almost certainly a joke. He was going to write Brainy off as an arrogant know-it-all jerk, saving Kara aside… But he would be lying if he said he hadn’t had that expression before.
Being overlooked was something he could understand. Something he could latch onto, especially since he too had been out of his depth when first working at the DEO.
He might not have had such a severe culture clash, or came from the future only to be forced to deal with technology from the distant past, but still. Brainy was Mon-El’s friend, and someone he spoke highly of. Winn had become good friends with Mon-El, during his year in the 21st century. Surely he saw something in Brainy that Winn didn’t, and Winn would just have to find it out.
Or at least, he could try. Which was what led him here, on the Legion ship, after Brainy had been giving him the silent treatment- no, not even that.
The “I’m not even going to be here” treatment.
And it definitely wasn’t working, because there was no way Winn would forget him.
Maybe… he didn’t want to.
~
“Brainiac 5?”
Naturally, Brainy was busy- but Winn also knew he could multitask, so he went ahead.
“So, do you really want to get away from us that fast?” he remarked, looking down at him as Brainy tried to fix the Legion ship.
“It is nothing personal.” Brainy replied. “I… I want to go home. To my time. However, it will take longer than was originally estimated, and due to…”
He shut up.
“We will stay as long as we need to.” He said, and Winn didn’t press for more information, even if he wanted it. There was no way he would be complicit in destroying the timeline, even a little.
“Sure, I get it.” Winn said. “I mean, if I were sent a thousand years from home and got to meet Supergirl, I’d stay for her too.”
Brainy stared at him, hands still working as he talked.
“I said nothing about Supergirl.”
“Yeah, well, I saw how you looked at her when she was in a coma. I get it, man.”
“There is nothing to get. I am honored to help her, even if I have to use this century’s technology to do it.”
“Suuuure.” Winn answered. “You keep telling yourself that.”
“Because it is true.”
Winn rolled his eyes.
“Anyway. As much as I’d like to keep talking about this, there’s something I wanted to say.”
“Besides what you have just said?”
“Yeah.” Winn answered, hands in his pockets as he looked down at Brainy- who was still looking at him. “You’re an idiot, I’m an idiot. We’re the co-presidents of the Idiot Club.”
“I am not an idiot.”
Brainy’s voice was cold, and he turned away from Winn, working faster now.
“Brainy, wait. Just… I didn’t mean it in that way. We were both dealing with a really stressful situation, last week. Both of us were out of our depth there. I didn’t want to admit it, but I was so scared for Kara. I’ve been scared almost every week, for her and Alex and J’onn, ever since I started working at the DEO. And… maybe I was jealous, hearing about you and seeing what you’re capable of. So that was stupid of me.”
“That is no excuse.”
“Okay, you’re not an idiot.” Winn promised. “You’re smarter than I could ever hope to be. I’m sorry. But… I think there are some things we could both work on. Namely, not trying to one-up each other when more important things are going on.”
“Indeed. When lives are at stake. And I apologize for losing my temper.”
Winn smiled, as Brainy stood up.
“Alright then. So… truce?”
He offered his hand to Brainy, and he shook it, handshake reminding him of Kara’s back when they first met.
“This is still a probationary truce, mind you. Don’t expect to be invited to any game nights- at least for now.”
“Is Supergirl going to be at these game nights?”
“Ah, now you’re bringing her up.”
“Do not put too much thought into it. Not that you can…”
“Brainy!”
“Joking.”

Arrowverse Season 2021/22 Overview:
„Supergirl“‘s and „Stargirl“‘s 2020/21-Seasons are still running, which is very strange, but I wanted to make on of those anyways before the new Seasons are starting to air, so I will just include „Supergirl“ in it for one last time, I guess. But with the upcoming Five Episode Event I felt like I had to do one.
 Supergirl:
Tumblr media
„Supergirl“ Season 6 is still airing, and even though the season does actually belong to the 2020/21-Season while the 2021/22 Season is about to start, the show will be around for two more months. The Finale will air on November 9th, it will be a two hour event, so to speak, however it is currently unknown if the last two episodes are an actual two-parter or if they are just airing on the same day for scheduling reasons.
We have reached the second half of the season, which will include the guest appearances of well known faces, starting with Mxyzptlk and John Diggle in the current episodes. Mxy will of course return in later episodes to wrap up his storyline. Lex and Lillian will also make their return. Odette Annable was supposed to return somewhen this season, but since we have not heard anything about that anymore, it might have fallen through. However we will see Eliza Danvers and our boys again. Eliza as well als James, Winn and Mon-El will be in the Series Finale and some of them might drop in sometime before that. Nyxly and her hunt for totems will be the main story arc in the upcoming episodes, with each episode focusing on one totem and its trait and a Superfriend, who does represent that trait. Also, both Kelly and Lena will embrace their newfound destinies, while William will be tasked with Andrea’s Superfriends focused news stories.
Hopefully we will get so see M’gann somewhen before the show wraps again and get an explanation for her absence since Kara has returned, but this is not confirmed. Also John Diggle might be the only guest appearance from other Arrowverse Shows for the Final Season. In theory Clark, Lois and Barry could show up, however only if they would have filmed those scenes around the time their respective Seasons wrapped and before they went on leave. It does however seem that we will see the return of Overgirl in the Finale. There is going to be an epic battle (or a couple of battles) that will involve pretty much everyone (including James, Winn and Mon-El) and there will be a funeral. But don’t worry, oddly enough pretty much everyone will be attending this funeral, so … could it be Supergirl’s funeral and the way to end the show, with Kara either power-less or leaving for another place? Also, we might get a wedding in the Finale as well.
With the end of „Supergirl“ Melissa will be done with the Arrowverse for a while, however Chyler will be back in the weeks after on „The Flash“, and we might get to see Kelly and Nia as well the other shows after the Finale has aired.
 Batwoman:
Tumblr media
Season 3 of „Batwoman“ will start airing on October 13th on The CW, so yes, the show will move to Wednesdays at 9:00 pm.
Ryan, Alice, Luke, Mary and Sophie are all back. The first trailer already dropped and does explain how and why Alice is still on the show. Meanwhile there is no word on Jacob. However Season 3 will add Robin Givens as Jada Jet, Nick Creegan as Marquis Jet and finally (sadly two seasons too late) Renee Montoya played by Victoria Cartagena to the Main Cast. Montoya will be a former Police Officer in this version, continuing the Police and Armed Forces Corruption Trend into Season 3, as she did quit for ehtical reasons. She will now run a „Freak Divsion“ for the Mayor’s Office, and we might even get the Question already. Maybe.
The Jets on the other hand are a rich and powerful family, with mother Jada running Jets Industries. Son Marquis on the other hand will be the typical good-for-nothing playboy at constant war with his mother. Now I will just have to admit that I have stopped watching „Batwoman“ and don’t intend to return to watch it ever again outside of Future Crossover Episodes (maybe), but it looks like the Jada is maybe Ryan‘s birth-mother and that this is the connection of those characters to Ryan. If that isn’t the case … well, then there is another first-born child Jada had to give up and is guilting on about, so … yeah, make of this what you will.
Bigger news are the villains. Every one and their mother did hear about Poisin Ivy showing up this year. Bridget Regan will play her, and she has history with Batman, so she will be Poison Ivy already. Also Mad Hatter will appear this season, and so will Killer Croc it seems. The show may also feature Penguine, but don’t hold your breath for that.
Now, production-wise Season 2 lost it’s final episode. It is unknown if 3.01 will just be that one, or if they like after Season 1 just put it in the trash and completley re-wrote it. Also according the the Director’s Guild Season 3 will wrap in December, which means The CW probably only ordered 13 episodes. Now, they may extend that order to something between 15 and 18 Episodes, but it does seems likely that they are planning to replace „Batwoman“ with either „Superman & Lois“ or „Naomi“ in early 2022, so it might really be a 13 Episodes Season.
However, we will see Ryan Wilder interact with someone else from the Arrowverse this year, but not on „Batwoman“. She will guest star on Season 8 of „The Flash“, meaning that there will probably be a Ryan-less or Ryan-light episode somewhere in the middle of this 13 episodes, so be ready for that.
 Legends of Tomorrow:
Tumblr media
Legends of Tomorrow will return from their shortest break in-between seasons ever on October 13th and will air on Wednesdays at 8:00 pm.
The first trailer dropped already and confirms what we have been told at ComicCon and seen in the Season 6 Finale:  Yes, the Legends (minus Mick and Kayla) are stranded in 1920s with a broken or destroyed Waverider. They have to deal with this, when Season 7 begins.
John Constantine has left the show, but Matt Ryan hasn’t. He will play a new character this season. A scientist called Gwyn Davies, who is probably related to John Constantine and might have something to do with the key John gave to Zari. He will be the only hope for the Legends to ever get out oft he 1920s it seems. The other new-old addition to the main cast will be fleshy Gideon, we learned. Given what happened to the Waverider, it will be interesting to see how this comes about, however the 100th Episode is a good guess to when it will happen.
Now, given that Season 6 just finished airing a few weeks ago, we don’t know much about Season 7. We have the titles of the first six episodes, Episode 3 is the 100th and will be directed by Caity Lotz (funnily enough it’s her third episode as well!), Episode 5 will probably focus on Gwyn Davies, and according to the Director’s Guild „Legends“ is supposed to wrap in December, which means it finally happened - we will get only 13 Episodes this year. However, The CW may extend this order, they have done so several times in the past, and if we are lucky and keep our fingers crossed they may extend their oder to 15 or maybe even 16 episodes again. However just like in the case of „Batwoman“ the show is probably supposed to be replaced by either „Naomi“ or „Superman & Lois“ at the Mid-Season, so it really depends on the 2022 schedule and on how fast the production goes on and on well … the question if this will be the show‘s last season.
But before we deal with that one, let’s deal with the other open questions. We are supposed to see Dom again in Season 7, he and Phil made a handshake deal on that. But will it really happen? I have no idea, because like everyone else, I have no idea what the falling out was actually about (my best guess is that they wanted him for half a season and he was not to pleased with that idea in the middle of a pandemic), but the travelling restrictions are lifted for vaccinated people at least, so if we are lucky this might just work out. However I have no idea when, how often, and in what order his appearances or his appearance will happen. And yes, traditionally it should be the 100th Episode, but I have no idea if there are special guest stars in there. If there are, other than Mick, the best guess to who it might be would be Ray Palmer and John Constantine. Brandon Routh will appear as Ray Palmer in Season 8 of „The Flash“, meaning that he went to Vancouver to shoot stuff, so he could have been there longer already and shot something for the 100th Episode, but the timing does not seem right, we might get to see him in another episode of Season 7 instead or we might not see him at all. As for John, Matt Ryan is still on the show, and yes, the did say time and time again that Constantine’s story on the show is done, but his last scene was very strange and left many unanswered questions, he cleary was from a point in the future and knew about the cliffhangar, plus we never saw him get out of the Fountain, which was kind of strange, so maybe they will actually wrap up his story in Season 7. Now, Matt Ryan did post a picture of Constantine walking away some days after the Finale of Season 6 had aired, but he could have posted this after he had just shot his last appearance as John Constantine. But even if they wrap up these open questions or reveal that the person in that last scene was not John at all and he is actually still dead or something like that, they might not do in the 100th Episode but at a later point. Or they might not do it all. They had two seasons to make Charlie and Amaya meet and did not do it, it is very possible that we actually did saw the last of John in Season 6.
So now to the question we don’t want to think about: Will Season 7 be the final Season? I have said time and time again, that „Legends“ is the one Arrowverse-Show that could go on forever, if they wanted to. The ever-changing cast would make it possible. Even if Caity Lotz were to leave, they could just make another character the new Team Leader, they could even go as far as to make it Nia Nal or Nora West-Allen. However I don’t really think The CW thinks like that. Now, the show is still around because the producers are doing what they can to reduce the cost of it. „Superman & Lois“ is the Arrowverse-Show with the biggest budget, but it get’s money from HBOmax, as does „Batwoman“ or so they say, however „Legends“ does not, and it is show that costs the network the most. The have to recreate several different time periods on a weekly basis and are an ensemble show, do the maths. Also this season will include the 100th episode, and while streaming changed the television landscape up quite a lot in the last couple of years, old pratices are still a factor in the mind of Network Executives, meaning they want 100 Episodes but often don’t really care about the seasons after this point.
However, The CW and Mark Pedowitz really want to do another Crossover, if they can get one. And the Five Episode Event on „The Flash“ won’t really be that. And after „Supergirl“ is finished, „Legends“ and „The Flash“ will be the only Arrowverse-Shows from good old times, whose characters do know and like each other. While everyone knows Superman, they are still keeping this show apart from the rest of the Arrowverse, so I do think that if „The Flash“ gets a 9th Season, they are probably going to give „Legends“ an 8th Season, if Caity Lotz stays on the show and ratings are at the usual level. However I might be wrong there.
But if they are axing the show or ending it, we will probably be informed about it before Season 7 starts airing. If Season 7 is the last one, the writers should know that by now. And I also think that if Season 7 is the last one, they might just add a couple of episodes to it in order to make a Finale.
So yeah, I don’t know, we really have to wait and see, but the show will in any case get a proper ending, that much is for sure.
 The Flash:
Tumblr media
Covid delays lead to a later than usual start for the shooting of Season 8. So while „Batwoman“ and „Legends of Tomorrow“ have already done around 7 episodes each, „The Flash“ is still on Episode 3, which is why the season will only start airing on November 16th.
The season will start of with „Armageddon“ – a Five Part Special Event, that will involve various guest stars and might or might not be based on the Comic-Event with the same name. „Armageddon“ will feature Ray Palmer (the Atom), Jefferson Pierce (Black Lightning), Alex Danvers (Sentinel), Mia Queen (Green Arrow), Eobard Thawne (Reverse-Flash), Damien Darhk, Ryan Choi and Ryan Wilder (Batwoman). Yes, most of those characters are from former shows (even though „Supergirl“ will just end the week before this event starts airing), but the new Batwoman is in it, so it is an actual Crossover with an on-going show. It will be the first time Ryan Wilder gets to interact with any Arrowverse-Characters outside of „Batwoman“. The villain of the piece will be Despero. Tony Curran will play the villain in probably both alien and human form. He might or might not team up with Eobard and Damien Darhk, who by the way was dead and in hell the last time we saw him, which combinded with Mia Smoak here leads into the idea that time travel might play into „Armageddon“, which will feature an Alien Invasion too big for Team Flash to handle alone, which is where all those guest stars come in. „Armageddon“ will also feature Deon Owen, Sue Dearborn and Jay Garrick. And Kristen Kramer, if Eric Wallace is to be believed, because the first few episoded of this season are supposed to explore her powers.
Now, there might be even more guest stars in „Armageddon“, but we can expect those who were announced to be the big ones. Everyone else is probably only doing a couple of scenes or a cameo. However let’s go through a list of likely suspects, who might also show up:
Kelly Olsen is of course the first, who comes to mind, she is only just becoming Guardian on „Supergirl“ now, the actress did stick around in Vancouver, and it would be weird if Alex was in those episodes but Kelly wasn’t. However, given that she was not announced, they either did not do that because they did not want to spoil her Guardian-Storyline (which just started a while after the guest stars were announced) or because she plays only a very small part in the storyline. Or she really is for whatever reason not in it. Next on the list would be Nora Darhk; with both her husband and her father showing up, it would be weird for her not to appear, but other than with Kelly there could be pratical reasons for that, namely Courtney‘s and Brandon’s son Leo. However with no Quarantine for vaccinated travelers from the US anymore, the whole family could have gone to Vancouver for a couple of days or weeks, so maybe she will show up. Then there is John Diggle. David Ramsey is directing Episode 2 of Season 2 of „Superman & Lois“, meaning he is in Vancouver, so in theory he could appear. I am compileing this before his last guest appreance on „Supergirl“ airs, when  the whole Green Lantern thing is still up in the air, so maybe we will get Green Lantern-Diggle in „Armageddon“ after all. And then there is of course Superman. „Superman & Lois“ did just start filming Season 2, so the main reason Tyler is not among these guest stars is probably scheduling. However he might be able to film a cameo or even a couple of scenes, so there is hope, just remember that they would have announced it, if he would play a big part in it.
Now Bart and Nora West-Allen are confirmed to be in this season, however it is unknown if they are in „Armageddon“. Scheduling is a conflict there for Jordan Fisher, who has a Broadway Show upcoming soon, so I am not sure when Impulse and XS will show up, however it would be more logical for them to be around at the beginning of the season rather than in the middle or at the end. Also Iris‘ Time-Sickness is not cured and will factor into the season, however Eric Wallace stated this would come into play after „Armageddon“, so maybe her kids will factor into that storyline.
After „Armageddon“ we will return to the Horror-Gerne it seems, with a villain that will make Barrys and Iris‘ life into a living nightmare. Whatever that is supposed to mean. There are guesses around who this villain is, but no one really knows. It also is a problem that Eric Wallace tends to talk very much without saying anything and often misleads people with his discription of up-coming storylines so … I would say think about the Bloodwork-Arc, it might just be something along these lines, or maybe it just is the person, who causes Iris to be time-sick (whatever that actually means) and Westallen will spend most of Season 8 apart again, because this is just the way Wallace writes them in order to keep their relationship interesting.
There will also be a storyline for Frost and Caitlin, that was supposed to be in Season 7, and maybe if we are very lucky that will finally be the one about their Mother and her Ice Powers. Joe will also get a storyline, which … I have no idea … might continue his strange Season 7 Storyline about being or not being a cop. Or he might just marry Cecile and that’s it, like I said Wallace ha a strange way of teasing upcoming storylines.
As for the Ralph-Question, no news there, as for the „Will we see Cisco this season?“-Question, also no news. Now, Rick Cosnett said something about returning to „The Flash“, however he might not have meant Season 8, if the season is not the last one, he might have referred to the same storyline Tom Cavanagh talked about a while back - the Final Storyline. And yes, there was talk about the return of Zoom, but this was more an actor wanting to return to a show than anything planned, so don’t expect him to show up anytime soon either. As for Bloodwork and Goodspeed, I have no idea if and when their storylines are going to be resolved, but the chances for Goodspeed are slighty better, I think.
Now, finally: Will Season 8 be the Last Season of „The Flash“? That really is up to Grant Gustin and what he signed on for when he signed up for Season 8. Despite Season 7 The CW still wants the show as long as possible around. If Grant sigend up for Season 8 and 9, there will be a Season 9. If he only signed up for Season 8, it depends on a decision he should be making soon. In any case, if Season 8 is the last Season, we will learn that before it starts airing aka in the next couple of months. And they will know long enough beforehand to do their planned Final Storyline.
Given they only began filming in late August and that they are taking their time with the Event, Season 8 will be shorter again. It will probably be around 18 Episodes, maybe if we are lucky, they will get to do 20, but a full 22 Episode Season is rather unlikely to happen.
 Superman & Lois:
Tumblr media
„Superman & Lois“ will return in 2022. The Second Season will feature Natalie Irons played by Taylor Buck as a member of the Main Cast. Sofia Hasmik was also promoted to the Main Cast. Tal-Rho will still be part of the show, however I am not too sure about him still being part of the Main Cast in Season 2. However both he and Leslie Larr will figure into the season.
The main villain won’t be Kryptonian this year. We will learn Tegan Wickhem’s backround (and which Flash Villain she is related to, I hope), Jordan will have to decide if he tells Sarah about his secret or not, and might not agree with his parent on that matter. John Henry will get to parent again, while Intergang and Killgrave will get new allies.
David Ramsey will be directing Episode 2 of this season, but this does not mean that John Diggle will return to the show. Given that this is „Superman & Lois“, even if he is going to guest-star this season, he won’t do that in Episode 2, but rather a couple of episodes later, when he is finished with the directorial stuff.
The Director’s Guilt Date does indicated that Season 2 is aiming for 13-16 Episode Season again. The only just started filming and plan to wrap in April, and there will be a Christmas Break, and thanks to Covid most seasons will be shorter this year again anyways. The CW might of course extend their Episode Order again, but keep in mind that if they do that, they have the problem of having to start shooting Season 3 later again, so the show might settle for 15 Episode Seasons as their normal lenght in the end.
And while it is not confirmed that there will be a third season, it is very likely that the network will order one.
They are probably planning to have „Superman & Lois“ replace „Batwoman“ or „Legends“ in early 2022, but it will be months before we will know the exact start-date.
There will be a panel at DC-Fandome, hopefully we will get some sort of trailer with footage from the first couple of episodes and some information what the season is actually going to be about then, but for now this is sadly all we know about Season 2.
I am still not covering „Stargirl“ as it hasn’t crossed over with the Arrowverse yet and I am alos not doing „Naomi“ because it won’t be an Arrowverse-Show. So that was it for this one.

I don’t if you’re still taking prompts but would you consider: 40. “I never stood a chance, did I?” I always wondered about what it would have been like if Mon-El had said this to Kara about Cat
40. “I never stood a chance, did I?”
Cat could ignore the invitation. In an average week she turns down at least twenty, from brunches to club openings, and doesn’t feel bad about any of them. She makes a point of showing up for her designated charities, for anything Carter asks of her, and the occasional time Adam requests her presence.
But the housewarming of her former assistant? That shouldn’t even be on Cat’s radar, but she’s between assistants and Kara is one of the few contacts whose missives have been marked as enough of a priority to always break through the noise. It’s been glaring at Cat for what feels like a month, although in reality there’s been only a socially-acceptable week between invite and event.
The worst part is that Kara isn’t even moving house. She’s still in that converted-whatever downtown that Cat had valued and safety-assessed by her own realtor just to be sure that Kara’s living situation didn’t pose a risk to Cat’s security. Which was a ridiculous pretext, rendered even less necessary by the revelation that Kara is Supergirl. Which, if anything, makes her home more regularly invaded but inherently well-defended.
No, apparently someone is moving in. Someone called Mike, of all the generic things. Cat has dated a Mike or two in her time and always found them to be lacking, even though it wasn’t technically the name at fault. He’s being welcomed into Kara’s home and her life, presumably a first step on the way to engagement, marriage, and whatever babies might be possible between the anatomy of a Kryptonian and whatever this ‘Mike’ is. Cat finds herself hoping he might be a cardboard cut-out, knowing Kara he’ll have the personality of one while she makes up for his considerable faults.
So. Absolutely no reason for Cat to attend. To even acknowledge. And yet she clicks the stupid button and confirms her very stupid attendance, because really, what will it cost her after all these months to show up with a nice bottle of something and leave after fifteen minutes? Miranda taught her that trick back in Gotham.
It’s exactly what she expects, from the moment Cat first steps out of her town car and surveys the apartment building door, propped open with a crate of empty bottles, presumably so no one is responsible for letting visitors up one by one. The music--cheesy and poptastic and full of those infuriating summer beats that get wedged in Cat’s head no matter how much she tries to avoid it--wafts down the stairs to meet her.
She could be at a launch event hosted by Bruno Mars right now. Or at dinner with Hillary and Huma. Instead Cat is picking her way up a staircase populated by people she’s fairly sure she’s still technically employing, some of whom scatter in habitual fear. At least that never gets old.
Then she’s at the apartment door, wide open of course, and the space is similarly populated with people Cat vaguely recognizes, including someone her brain has filed away as some kind of federal agent, talking to that Will boy who used to be in her IT department.
Before Cat can think better of it, suddenly the crowd seems to part and Kara is there, completely with a brand new beaming smile the moment she sets eyes on Cat, right in the middle of her living room. Amongst the fairy lights and the way everyone else in that room fades into the background in an instant, Cat begins to wonder if Richard Curtis is now directing inside her head.
“You came!” Kara glides over a little too fast to be human, enveloping Cat in the kind of hug she wants to collapse into. Just like every other one they’ve shared. “I thought you must have clicked yes by accident, or your new assistant did, but I hoped you really would come.”
“Do you hang on to all your guests this long?” Cat says, regretting it the second Kara pulls back.
“Sorry, it’s just been a while since I saw you.”
“I’m aware. Your apartment is... interesting.”
Kara just smiles even more at the half-compliment. “I’ll get you a drink. Don’t worry, I kept a bottle of something decent and a clean glass set aside for you.”
The relief at not being offered punch in a solo cup passes through Cat like a tidal wave, and she accepts the tumbler with at least a triple-shot of Scotch gratefully. The first sip fortifies her.
“I know this isn’t really the best place to talk,” Cat says as something by Justin Timberlake takes over the speakers. “But I wanted to bring you something. For the housewarming.”
“Well, it’s not really for me. You see--”
“Still,” Cat interrupts. “It’s a milestone for anyone. I wanted you to have something more permanent than wine or some awful condiment set that you’ll only open during a power cut.”
She fishes out the small gift bag from inside her purse and hands it over. Kara scans the crowd. “Do we need to open it together, or can I...?”
“Really it’s just for you,” Cat says, downing the rest of her drink. It’s a decent single malt, and she shouldn’t have rushed it. “You can open it later.”
“No, wait,” Kara replies, and with a boldness borne of not being under Cat’s thumb every day, she actually takes Cat by the forearm and steers her through the space, past some curtains which mark off the bedroom area. It’s even more of a twinkling-light, pastels and faded woodwork paradise, but it’s so utterly Kara that Cat aches to see it. Without thinking, she strides across and sits on the end of the bed.
“Go on then.” Cat hasn’t even taken her coat off yet, though it’s a light one. She watches out of the corner of her eye as Kara unpacks the box inside the bag, pulling out the silver ornament with a gasp.
“How...” Kara moves into Cat’s sightline, refusing to be ignored or deflected. “Do you know what this is?”
“I did some research. Got a message to another person from... where you’re from.”
“But the only way you could do that is through... James wouldn’t. Ms Grant, did you ask Lois Lane for help?”
“I might have used her to relay a message to Superman, yes. He sent me a drawing, I sent it to the designer, it was nothing. Really.”
“Lois will never let you forget you needed a favor,” Kara replies, holding up the delicate silver ornament on its white ceramic base. “And I should be denying any knowledge of this shape, of these branches.”
“It’s a ring tree, Kara. Somewhere to keep your jewelry together now that someone is invading your space. It used to drive me crazy when things were knocked off my nightstand, or moved from beside the sink and... anyway. A practical thing.”
“In the shape of the last ever tree to grow on Krypton. The ones my family takes its name from. Oh! Look, the crest. Etched right into the base.”
“Sounds like a really thoughtful gift,” says a male voice from somewhere behind Cat. She turns to see a generically handsome male, human at first glance. “Kind of thing someone who really cares about you would get.”
“Mo--Mike!” Kara rushes to him, setting the tree carefully on her nightstand. “I was looking for you! This is Cat Grant, she’s--”
“I know, I worked at CatCo for a hot minute there. Her face is kind of everywhere in that building.” Mike comes around the bed to shake her hand, his look appraising. Cat merely stares him down, refusing the handshake.  “I’ve been looking forward to meeting you, Cat. I’ve heard a lot about you.”
“Most of it terrible I assume.”
“Oh, you’d think. Everyone else has horror stories, but not Kara here. No, to hear my girlfriend talk, you’re the sun, the moon, and the stars all rolled into one.”
Cat glances at Kara, who’s blushing furiously.
“That doesn’t sound like most of my former assistants,” Cat says.
“And I thought, all the times she talked about you that way, that it’s just some one-sided admiration fest, you know? Girls always have these crushes, and I’m the first guy to encourage that, you know?” His leer is as predictable as it is unwelcome.
“Mike, don’t.”
“Then you show up here and the two of you look at each other like something out of one of those movies Kara loves. Like time has stopped, for everyone but just the two of you. Then you sneak in here for special private drinks, and it turns out there’s a real thoughtful gift too. The kind of thing a real thoughtful girlfriend might choose.”
Kara tries to pull him aside then, but Mike never takes his eyes off Cat.
“I never stood a chance, did I?”
A better woman than Cat might not answer. But one look at Kara’s panic, at the darkness that flits across her face because she thinks she’s going to lose Cat all over again, and the decision is made for her.
“No Malcolm, I don’t suppose you did. Oh, I could tell you I’ve been oblivious to Kara’s little crush this whole time, but as you so shrewdly observed, those feelings are reciprocated. I left to give Kara a chance to get over me, to prevent either of us embarking on what could be a very tricky relationship for both of us. And yet. Here I am.”
“Cat?” Kara comes to her then, wonder on her face. “What are you doing?”
“Reclaiming what I believe is rightfully mine. I mean, honestly, Kara. I give you more than enough leeway to pursue things with James, an almost worthy contestant, and you end up with this punk instead? I’m almost insulted.”
“But... but...”
“Oh for God’s sake, how much plainer can I make it?” Cat gets up then, shrugging off her coat before pulling Kara close. As fluid motions go, that was Simone Biles-worthy. No time to dwell on the grace though, because there’s the small matter of kissing Kara right on her stunned mouth, provoking a groan of defeat from the manchild.
Kara kisses back. That’s enough for the moment. Cat hits pause and pulls back, having made her point there’s no need to be cruel.
“Kara, why don’t you tell Mike there’s been a change of plan? And that I’m sure I can find a studio apartment somewhere for him to set up home. By way of consolation, of course.”
“Shove your apartment,” he replies, yanking the curtain aside to rejoin the throng of people outside. Some of whom have clearly been listening, since the music is noticeably quieter than before. A dark-haired woman darts to Kara’s side, and they have a brief, whispered conversation before she turns to address Kara’s party for her.
“Okay everybody, party’s over! Let’s move.”
When the crowd don’t react, the woman pulls an FBI badge from her pocket and a gun from its holster, pointing at the ceiling.
“Federal agent, moving you all out. Get going, people!”
“Thanks, Alex,” Kara says as people start rushing out. “I don’t know how much you heard but--”
“Enough to warn this one that the badge and the gun will be after her, if she ever hurts you.”
“Agent Danvers, I presume?” Cat stands her ground. “I hope you know I would never. Not on purpose.”
“Oh come on!” Mike protests by throwing his hands up. “She still doesn’t like me, and you get a one-line shovel talk? I really do give up.”
“I’m sorry,” Kara says. “For what it’s worth, we did have some fun. After you stopped treating me like a piece of meat and pursuing me in some kind of game after I warned you not to.”
“Yeah.”
“Yeah,” Kara repeats back to him. “You sure you’ll find somewhere to stay? This was a bad idea.”
“I’m fine.” Mike heads out, and Alex follows with a mouthed ‘call me’ to her sister, leaving Cat and Kara alone in the apartment, strewn with party debris on every surface.
“Do you want to go somewhere?” Kara asks, reaching for Cat’s hand.
“Why don’t I help you tidy up?” Cat says, and goddamn if she hasn’t lost her mind completely. She hasn’t completed a simple domestic task since the late 90s.
“Uh, no need,” Kara replies, disappearing in a quiet whirlwind that has the apartment spotless three blinks later.
“Oh. That’s impressive.”
“I hoped you’d think so.”
“Well, nothing left to do now...” Cat says, looking around. “But make out on that freshly-cleared couch.”
Kara laughs, open-hearted and light, taking Cat by the hand to do exactly that.
“You kind of ruined my party, Ms Grant. And broke up my relationship.”
“Are you complaining?”
Kara shakes her head.
“Well then. Shush, and let me make it up to you,” Cat says, situating herself on Kara’s lap and appreciating the flex of muscular thighs beneath her. “The night is still young, after all.”
This time Kara kisses her first, and Cat is more than happy to accept that invitation, too.

Supergirl Season 5 premiere review!
Ok!! So there's a lot to process here but first off WOW! Bravo! 👏👏 as season premieres go that was probably one of if not the best.
Ok... So opening scene, you could so tell that was a simulation from the way Kara talked. I should also like to give a big 🖕🖕 to all those that were dragging Lena saying she either:
1. Gave herself super powers
2. Used Kryptonite
3. Punched Kara in front of some school kids.
Is it just me, or does Hope the AI give off an "I'm going to become sentient and be a massive pain in the ass?" Vibe? 🤔🤔
My poor baby Lena, how awful must it be to believe that everyone you know has betrayed you, that you can't trust them and you have no one to talk to? So you create your own personal AI that won't (probably will ) betray you, oh and you bring someone (Andrea ) back into your life when clearly things haven't always been smooth sailing? Poor Lena!
Ugh..Must they throw out politics less that 3 minutes into the show? We have Kara talking about registering to vote?
Ok, so everyone is praising Kara, she's talking about having her work recognised, Baker and Lex being taken down, but yet again there is NO mention of the fact that it was Lena who figured out where Lex was, Lena who helped Kara/Supergirl etc. Oh that's right I forgot, the show doesn't like to acknowledge when things couldn't have been done without Lena 😤😤
Naww Alex and Kelly are so cute.
Kara suddenly has a dislike for technology?? Random and purely there for plot convenience.
Not going to lie but Jonn is kind of boring this episode.
Ok... So here we go again, Kara using stupid excuses to not tell Lena. Ugh.... this is getting so old and cliche to the point it isn't even funny anymore.
Yes!! They have Kara acknowledging that lying to Lena for so long while being all about 'truth' wasn't fair.
Yes Alex the voice of reason Danvers!! She can tell Kara off essentially while still praising her and letting her know she is good. I'm loving how it's ALEX who is saying Lena needs to know!
😂 Miranda Priestly, yes Brainy I quite agree! Id rather face Hannibal Lector than her. Oh bring back Cat Grant!!
😂😂 omg that handshake! I'm willing to bet that Alex's laugh was just Chyler not being able to keep a straight face and they kept it.
James is boring.
Strangely turned on by the way Andrea says her name 😅
James is boring.
Not going to lie, I know Lena wanted Andrea to keep the sale of Cat Co a secret, but I'm actually glad we got to see Kara's shock at not being kept in the loop. Humble pie much??
Ok the exhibit is funny.
Did they have a casting call for a creepy kid?
Dinosaur!!
Katie is so good at the whole pretending to be happy and friendly whilst plotting face 🤣. Morgana much?
Oh.... Kara is being indignant Lena did something without telling them all?? Another bite of pie Kara?
Hahahaha 🖕 to all those that said Lena didn't buy Cat Co for Kara. (I know she might be saying that to explain the sale away, but it's been said so it's canon!)
Oooh Lena is really making it obvious she knows 🤣🤣 awkward much lol
Dinosaur!!
Karas cape is more important than a bomb to Brainy 😂
Ooh here that's scene at Cat Co. I stand by my last post, James and Kara are incredibly rude to their new boss and have zero right to speak to her that way. James and Kara used all of the staff to gang up on Andrea and it's just not on! I love how Andrea roasted James though!!
Does anyone here ever read a contract before signing it?
Am I the only one thought Andrea was Lenas ex when she said "relationship"?? 😅😅 false alarm lol
Why is Kara still flying with a crap cape? She doesn't need one to fly.
trap!!
Midnight isn't all that exciting.
Oh so Jonn remembers Manchester Black, but i take it no one wants to acknowledge his blatant MURDER Of the disarmed non powered human? Ok writers you can forget it all you want, but I'm not going to!
😂 Brainy! It is great fun to watch Jonn shift into Kara!
Oh Alex you angel and voice of reason.
Yay Kelly!! Lovely advice, love how she's the one who convinced James to leave! Kelly just got a massive boost in my eyes!
William is hilariously obnoxious!!
Erm... Did Kara just FULL ON verbally attack her new boss? Threatening to fight her boss on everything? Dictating what Andrea can and can not do? Giving out demands? Jesus Christ, Andrea I know you said you're not going to fire her but man I would have on the spot!! Kara is waaaay out of order and getting way to big for her super boots!
I don't think William and Kara are going to be a couple, that's the exact same story as Mon El and Kara. No one wants to watch that again.
Ok so now Kara is bragging to Alex that she verbally attacked her new boss, telling her what SHE will and will not tolerate? Omg Kara get a grip!
Alex?? You're encouraging this? You were supposed to be the voice of reason!
Naww Alex and Kelly are cute!
Ooh Brainy is so funny! "To small to be perceived". He made her a new suit!
Holy s**t!! Kara just out right came out to Lena!! I really thought she would drag this out start rambling and not actually do it So Lena sees her change instead. But good for her, about bloody time!!
Lena genuinely looks shocked! She didn't expect Kara to come clean! Puts a spanner in Lena's revenge plot there lol
Jesus the acting of these two!! The facial expressions and the tears! Mel is really selling it! Bravo 👏👏
I'm loving how Kara is acknowledging all the things we've been saying, how her reasons for keeping the secret were dumb!
Oh I don't trust this Hope AI at all! She's encouraging Lena to hate on Kara.
Oh the speech, and Alex's awkward look!
No way was Lena going to immediately forgive Kara, I know we wanted to think it but Nooo! Far to soon lol
Omg!! It was Lena Kara activated her new suit infront of!! I'm living for that!
PANTS!!!
HOLY SH*T MUSE!!! Yesssss!!! What a sound track to use!!
Alex "how do you guys change so fast?!" 🤣🤣
Oh.. ... look...... Guardian is there.....Hopefully for his last appearance
Fight itself isn't all that exciting, and I feel like we didn't even get to know Midnight, that was way to quick.
James quit, good! Leave!! Seems a bit stupid he doesn't care about never being a journalist again though. But I won't dwell, because I genuinely don't care.
Alex and Kelly! Oh my heart!
Oh so Brainy has had A LOT of romantic experience then? 😏
Aww he loves her!!
I'm glad they had Brainy acknowledge his feeling at having been dark for that short time.
Nawwww a kiss!
That little girl is way creepy!
Oh so Jonn doesn't know he has a brother? 🤔 interesting.
Oh look Lena gets a super watch, ABOUT BLOODY TIME!! That could have prevented so many problems! Straight out of a fan fic lol
Oh yes, I don't trust this AI Hope!!
Lena no! You are NOT a Luthor!
Ok... so all in all a fab episode, nothing was dragged out thank RAO! I don't hate Lena for wanting to expose Kara, it makes sense from a comic point of view and from the pain she feels. The important thing is she didn't do it. People are allowed to feel like they are going to lash out when they are hurt.
I quite like Andrea, she's a breath of fresh air! Plus she isn't wrong in her ideas, just because it's something Kara, Nia and James don't like doesn't mean it's wrong. I think she was treated horribly and despicably by Kara and James though. Especially Kara! That was way to much and she should have been sacked. I'm really happy someone is at Cat Co now that is challenging her and not doing whatever she says, I think the days of Karaolsen magazine and Kara running out whatever she wants are done. But this is good!
Nia is adorable but didn't get to do much.
Jonn was pretty boring this ep considering the villain was out to get him.
James sucks!
Brainy is sooo cute and funny!
Alex and Kelly are the best!
Alex being the voice of reason is what I'm here for, now I want her to go see Lena.
Hahaha Kelly is the one to thank for ridding me of James.
The acting between Mel and Katie here was brilliant, the emotions the tears, the deception? Wonderfully done.
Lena didn't create any VR tech so take that haters!!
Kara's war on tech sounds like it's going to be for boring reasons.
I don't trust this Hope AI!
Lena isn't done for yet, "a fight for Lena's soul!" We can all find our way back to the light!

The Lofty Farewell: A Karamel FanFic
Bottom line? Kara and Mon-El deserved better. They deserved a proper parting. I mean, not even a handshake? Are you kidding met? That’s all their relationship was worth? Mon-El literally tossing a ring at Kara? A quick nod goodbye? It's just not realistic.
So I'm fixing it for them. Because I could never live with myself if I didn't.
Tumblr media
I mean, LOOK AT THEM! Tell me that’s not what endgame looks like, show! Go on. Tell me.
That’s what I thought.

Chapter 2: A Lofty Talk: Part I - https://archiveofourown.org/works/18392615/chapters/43572053

Chapter 4: A Lofty Talk: Part III - https://archiveofourown.org/works/18392615/chapters/43947682
Chapter 5: A Lofty Beginning - https://archiveofourown.org/works/18392615/chapters/43573676
NOTES:  I struggled for several months with the overwhelming frustration and anger I'd been holding inside since the Supergirl S3 finale, and I have to say, writing this? It felt GOOD. It felt right. It felt a lot more real than what we got, and I wish the show would’ve had the guts to go there and give Kara some kind of hope for a future relationship with Mon-El. Instead of... whatever that was.
So I just wanted to put this out in the universe because it was amazingly cathartic to write. And hopefully it will speak to someone else who needs some Karamel catharsis of their very own.
No matter what happens on the CW’s Supergirl (and it pains me to say this because I am a sucker for canon), as far as I’m concerned, Supergirl 3x23, Battles Lost and Won is absolutely, 100% NOT the end of Kara and Mon-El’s story.
For Karamel, it's just the beginning.

contrasting trajectories in 3.23, Battles Lost and Won
Okay, here we go. I’m bummed that TWO of my favourite characters are leaving. Combined with the fact that I still miss Cat a ton, it’s all a bit meh for me. But I want to talk about a specific contrast in these goodbyes.
Tumblr media
@theleiaskywalker
Winn discovers he’s a famous engineer in the 31st century. He’s the only one who can help fight Brainiac, not just because he’s smart but because he’s human and unaffected by Brainiac’s war on AIs. It’s actually beneficial to the hero business to be human, for once. It means leaving behind Kara, after being the first person on this bananas Supergirl journey with her, and James who has taught him Clark’s secret handshake apparently? It means leaving behind his entire makeshift family, and that’s a big deal for him. But ultimately this is framed as the growth Winn has been seeking for 3 seasons. He’s believing in himself. He’s stepping out of his cocoon, emerging from his egg, finding the Force within him, yada.
(Growth and finding your place being the theme of the back half of the season. Kara’s found that hers is on Earth after all. James’s is Guardian, Sam’s is being a regular human mom. Lena’s embracing both her sides despite the inherent contradictions, and so are Alex and J'onn.)
Tumblr media
@agentschottjr
WINN: Shut up. And actually going to the future? Yeah, that’s like beyond my wildest dreams.
Whereas Mon-El, ugh. It’s a destiny of sorts. But by contrast to everything else going on, he has the most depressing line in his final talk with Kara on the Balcony of Feelings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
@karamelmondaes
MON-EL: You know for a moment there, I thought that maybe this was my place. My time.
And it’s 1000% sadder when you remember his whole planet died 36 years ago! Mon-El doesn’t want to go back to the future. Mon-El is finally in the only place he wants to be. Imra knows that. Brainy knows that.
Tumblr media
@starcityjitters
BRAINIAC-5: In your case I ran a simulation and there was a zero-percent chance you would be smiling after what Imra was supposed to have told you.
Kara knows it, despite the fact that they still haven’t managed to say much of this out loud. But there have been looks.
And I get it, okay. I get that Mon-El’s gone from the selfish guy who didn’t believe in getting involved in other people’s fights, to someone who has taken the fate of the entire future on his shoulders. I rooted for him to get there and wouldn’t want to see him do otherwise. BUT. Everyone else in this episode got an optimistic season’s end coda. Meanwhile, Mon-El is leaving the love of his life to go fight a dangerous war.
Tumblr media
@karamelmondaes
This might be 80% due to Chris Wood’s sad crying face, but Mon-El is the only character framed as being separated from his ideal destiny, where the destiny and the obligation have no middle ground.
BRAINIAC-5: The future needs leaders. MON-EL: The future has leaders. BRAINIAC-5: The future needs you, Mon-El.
It’s a role reversal of Kara sending Mon-El away to save Earth in last season’s finale. So I guess that’s interesting, an underscoring of the star-crossed lovers angle. But if you’re going to do tragically separated by space and circumstances, he could at least get to kiss the girl first? Jeez.

"A boy from Daxam and a girl from Krypton."
Daxamites and Kryptonians have been at war for years. The only thing they share is a red sun. One day, Alura (In-Ze) Zor-El and her husband, leaders of Krypton, offer a deal to the Daxamites. They would meet up first on Krypton, where they would stay for a few days, before the Kryptonians would do the same on Daxam. The Queen Rhea and King Lar Gand of Krypton agreed to it, signing off the deal and ending with a handshake.
This is where our story begins. A 13-year-old Kara Zor-El was called to the serious meeting to entertain the playful Prince of Daxam. When she brought him to her room, he made fun of her and ordered her around. Kara was annoyed at him, and stormed off to her "secret garden". Mon-El sneaked after her, where he was pleasantly surprised. He fell for her, but never told her. When the two planets had made peace, she never saw Mon-El again.
The original story happened, the destruction of Krypton and Daxam, but will the spark between them be rekindled?

When Krypton was destroyed, the debris showered onto Daxam. […] It was ravaged by solar storms. It’s a wasteland now. Your home—my home—they’re, uh… they’re gone.

I’m gonna say this: Now the Karamel Shippers know how the Supercorp shippers feel.
When you have 2 characters interact with each other, open up to one another. Eye fucking each other and the writers decide to do nothing with it.
(Sure they were together in a good part of season 2, but I’m only talking about season 3.)
I didn’t like the way they decide to portray their relationship in season 2, but what they did in season 3 was just stupid. (I’m not even talking about the idea of giving Kara a love interest who is married.)
If you are to tease your fans to no end during an entire season at least have it paid off in the end. There was no kiss, no hug not even a handshake WTF?! Mon-El was crying and Kara was smiling like she didn’t even care. If this is the definitive goodbye they had for that character (and it is) it is disgusting, really.
I don’t want to start a fight,  we’re all in the same boat.

Prompt fic - ‘Drunk’
Lena Luthor ignored the buzzing of her phone. Her Mandarin was a little rusty, and the last thing she needed was to mess up an email to a company L-Corp wanted to collaborate with. After giving the message a cursory once-over, she pressed send and went to check her texts.
Kara Danvers: Lenaaaaa, come drink with meee
Kara Danvers: They have shhots and drinkks and more shots
Lena looked at the time in the corner of her laptop - 11:01pm.
Kara, where are you?
Picking up her coat and purse, Lena scoured her office for her discarded heels and hopped as she slipped them on. She scurried past Jess’ long empty desk and into the elevator. Lena was texting her driver to meet her downstairs as Kara’s reply came in multiple bursts.
Kara Danvers: Totallly awesome bar.
Kara Danvers: They have alien drinnks hree too and alienss. Ltos of aliens.
Lena couldn’t help the audible sigh that escaped her lips then. Ever since Mon-El had been sent away, she had been expecting something. If Lena was honest, she was more leaning towards a tearful Kara showing up in her office or an angry Kara telling her that she blamed Lena for making the device that sent her boyfriend away forever.
Instead she had seen stoic Kara, who hid behind broken imitations of her sunny smiles and locked all her emotions away. It was worse than either scenario Lena had dreamed up.
But, it seemed that the dam had finally given way.
Now the question was whether to hack into Kara’s phone and find out where she was, or call her and try to find out that way?
Kara Danvers: Lenna, people are soo nicce heree. I got frree drinks from a nicce man.
Lena was calling her before she finished reading.
“Lena!” Kara shouted exuberantly. It was more emotion than Lena had heard in any of their lunches. “Lena, come and meet mee!”
Lena chuckled. “Okay Kara, what’s the bar called? Where is it?”
“Errr… The Zion? It’s near that noodle place we went to that time? Oooh Lee remember the noodles?” Lena gave the directions to Thomas as she listened to Kara’s ode to noodles with a grin on her face.
The car pulled up in an area which was dilapidated enough that Thomas offered to escort Lena into the bar. She declined politely, and kept her ear to the phone as Kara continued on.
The Zion was shabby on the outside, but pushing past the beaded curtain at the entrance revealed a lively and modern decor. The white circular bar took up the centre of the room, with surrounding booths of low tables and comfy looking sofas. There was a small dance floor which was filled with a few patrons jumping and swaying to something Lena wasn’t familiar with.
Lena was grateful for her black dress and heels as she strode through the crowd, since the dress code of the humans and, yes, aliens was typical of a club. She felt a few looks of recognition being shot her way and straightened her back, chin high in the air.
Kara’s voice pulled her out of her assessment of the room. “Oh! I see you!”
Lena felt her friend, before she saw her. Strong arms came around her middle, and Lena hoped that the stutter of her heart at the contact wasn’t obvious.
Kara, it seemed, had come straight from work to the bar. A signature cardigan hung off of an arm, leaving her in a polka dot dress with a purse slung over a defined shoulder. Lena shook herself, and tried not to stare at her arms. Now was not the time.
“Lee we can have so much fun now! We should get a drink, what do you want?” Kara pulled at Lena’s hand and looked so care free in that moment, that she was powerless to resist.
She sent a text to Thomas to go home for the night.
“Shhottts!”
This was a bad idea. Lena had sat down on the stool next to Kara’s at the bar and already she had a number of shots in front of her with a half-finished scotch in her hand.
“Kara, are you sure this is a good idea?” Lena began, hesitantly.
Kara placed a finger on Lena’s lips and she quietened. She still wasn’t used to Kara’s tactile friendship, with the hugging and brushing of arms. Lena had grown up to firm handshakes and air kisses next to cheeks. But lips? This was new.
And unhelpful to the minor crush she harboured for her friend.
“Shush Lee.” Lena wasn’t sure when she had garnered this nickname, but it made her smile to think that she’d earned one when the world couldn’t seem to separate her last name from her first.
Kara’s grin widened. “We’re going to play never have I ever.” Lena laughed.
A number of shots in and the world was a little hazy around the edges. Lena was laughing hard, hair in disarray from twisting her fingers through it over and over. It turned out that drunken Kara was a lot more daring than she had previously thought.
“Noooo don’t laugh!” Kara’s hands covered her face, strands of hair falling from the careful braids atop her head. “I genuinely thought I’d get you with that one!”
Still chuckling, Lena responded, “Well I certainly am learning new things about you today… a public beach Kara?”
“Yeah… the sand got everywhere. Friction burns. Never again.” The pair both paused at the admission, and promptly burst into hysterics.
As their breathing got under control, Kara turned to Lena. “Thank you, for coming tonight.”
Kara was looking down at one of her ‘special’ shots which she had forbidden Lena to touch, something about it having strawberries in which Lena was allergic to.
Lena took Kara’s hand in her own. “Of course. Any time you need.”
She got a squeeze of thanks and smile for her efforts. Lena pushed the fluttering in her stomach aside.
“Lena, I think I’m forgetting to miss him.” The voice was so small, that Lena almost missed it. “I went the whole of today without thinking about him and then when I realised I felt so guilty.”
Lena squeezed her friend’s hand between her own, moving closer so she could hear her over the noise of the bar. Kara looked up. “I’m afraid that so many people have left that I’m not even fazed by it anymore.”
Tears sprung in Kara’s eyes and Lena’s locked with them. “It’s okay to move on with your life Kara. Anyone who really cared about you would want you to live and be happy and be loved, because you, Kara Danvers, are one of the greatest people I know and you deserve all of the love in the world.”
Kara’s muffled sob as she hugged Lena as tightly as she dared was all Lena needed to know to get her home.
Kara’s head was on Lena’s shoulder the whole cab ride back to Lena’s apartment. Kara had looked up at her with the saddest bluest eyes she had ever seen and asked if she could stay at Lena’s. Lena had always been a sucker for a pretty girl.
Wait, what?
Lena attempted to shake the alcoholic fog from her mind. She was comforting her friend, her best friend, who was hurting and… drooling adorably on her shoulder.
It’s official. She’s whipped.
Coaxing a sleepy Kara awake was as difficult as expected. Thankfully, she had an elevator that led directly into her apartment.
Lena helped Kara take off her shoes and sat her on the couch with a bottle of water. She managed to get her to drink most of it before she began fidgeting.
“Leeeennnaaa, ‘m uncomfy.” Lena poked her head out from the bathroom to find her friend with her dress stuck above her head, one arm half pulled out of it and the other stuck at an odd angle within the fabric of the dress.
Lena, the unflappable, Luthor stuttered her response at the sight of Kara in her underwear and trapped in a dress.
Whipped. Completely whipped.
And how was it fair that Kara got abs after eating the way that she did?
Coming to her senses, Lena found an old MIT t-shirt and some leggings for her friend. Then unzipped the dress that was causing her so much trouble.
It took 30 minutes in the middle of the kitchen and Lena’s face in several shades of red before Kara was presentable again.
The next obstacle presented itself when Lena went to take off Kara’s glasses. “No! I don’t want to miss anything.”
“Kara, you’ll be asleep?”
“No, you’re so pretty that I need to see you as much as I can!”
Lena didn’t want to get into that one, she wasn’t sober enough for this.
Lena helped Kara take off her makeup, with difficulty around the glasses, and tucked her into her own king sized bed. She should have thought better before taking the spot next to her, because if Kara was tactile in her waking hours a sleeping Kara was something else.
It was the early hours of the morning, and the covers were nowhere to be seen. Lena had woken to find Kara sharing her pillow and facing her, a long leg hooked between hers and her hands! One was at her hip, the other arm was bent between them, palm just over her chest.
Lena tensed immediately, and Kara only snuggled closer, her head resting beneath Lena’s chin.
Oh God.
There was a buzzing noise and Lena saw Kara’s phone lighting up on the night stand – someone was calling her. The phone went quiet for a second, before renewing again.
“Kara?” she whispered, gently placing her hand on the top of an arm. “Kara, your phone is ringing.”
A crinkle of a brow. “Shh… it’s early.”
“I know,” A head buried deeper under her chin, and Lena had to remind herself to breathe. “but Kara, it’s been ringing for a while. It might be important.”
Work was unlikely, as it was a Saturday morning. But Kara had a habit of receiving important phone calls that required immediate action.
Kara offered a groan of protest as Lena moved to reach over Kara and grab her phone. ‘Alex’ flashed on the screen.
“Kara, it’s your sister. She’s called a few times.”
Try over 20.
Lena looked down at Kara, who was sleeping soundly once more. She would want her sister to know that she’s safe right?
She clicked the answer button.
“Kara!? Oh thank God, you’re okay! You’re okay right? You missed game night and everyone has been looking for you but you had your GPS off and you-. Do you know how worried I’ve been? It’s been hours! We’ve not slept-“
Lena had to interrupt her, it was getting overwhelming. “Agent Danvers, this is Lena?” The line went quiet. “Kara’s fine, she text me last night from a bar and she’s now safely sleeping it off in my apartment.”
“Your apartment?” The implication is there, Lena can feel it and the idea that her crush hasn’t been as subtle to the older Danvers sister as Lena would have liked rears its ugly head.
“Yes, she asked to stay here.” Lena swallowed, and glanced to the sleeping girl in question who had both arms wrapped around Lena’s middle and her face pressed in the dip of her waist. “You’re welcome to come by, but she probably won’t be awake for a few more hours.”
“I’ll be there in 20.” And the line went dead.
Lena looked down at her friend and worked on extracting herself before going to take a shower.
She really wished she’d given the apartment a once-over before letting Alex walk in.
“Luthor, there had better be a good reason why my sister’s bra is on your kitchen counter!”

Karamel Fanfic: When Clark met Mon el
When Superman met "The other Superman" Karamel, featuring Clark Kent/Superman. Rating: T, fluff
"Kara," Mon el half whispers and half groans, still in the grasp of sleep. "You should answer that."
Kara answers with a groan of her own. "No, you do it."
Mon el squints one eye open to see the time on Kara's bedside alarm clock. It's quarter to four a.m. in the morning, way too early for either of them to wake up and answer the door if it's not a world ending emergency- which it clearly isn't, otherwise they would have got a call from the DEO and had John yelling at them by now. "It's your apartment," he argues, elbowing her sides lightly.
She punches him back in the ribs. "Yours too, you stay over every night," her words come out half muffled with sleep.
"Use your X-ray eyes," he suggests.
"That's the first good idea you've had," she mumbles, sitting up ever so slightly so that she can see who is on the other side of the door.
At first she blinks, wondering if it's a dream, and then her eyes slowly turn wide. "Oh Rao! Superman!"
Mon el sits up abruptly, now wide awake as well. "What? Where?"
"At my door," Kara answers, breaking out of her trance and getting out from under the covers. "Coming!" She yells at the door, while pulling on her shirt and pajamas, and throws Mon el's shirt at him. "Get in my closet."
"What?" He asks, slack jawed.
"I said get inside my closet," she repeats, now holding the door open for him.
"You're hiding me from Superman," he points out, amused. "You do realize he has X-rays eyes too, right?"
"It's called X-ray vision," she answers, exasperated, and leaves without another word.
Tidying up her hair and clothes in a hurry, she answers the door with a smile on her face. "Hey Clark! What a surprise!"
Clark gives her a warm smile. "I hope I'm not interrupting your sleep. I chased a criminal to National City, and needed a place to crash, and Jimmy wasn't home, so I thought maybe-"
"Yes, of course, of course," Kara interrupts, opening the door wider for him. "Please, come in. You're always welcome here, Clark."
"Absolutely," adds Mon el's voice, and Kara and Clark both turn around in surprise, Kara with a glare in her eyes, Clark with a curious glance. "I'm a huge fan," Mon el continues, ignoring that, "It's such an honor to meet you, Sir." He extends his hand for shaking.
Clark accepts it, and smiles. "Nice to meet you too, umm?"
"Mon el," Mon el supplies, and then wonders if he was supposed to say his earth-name. "I mean Mike." Kara shakes her head no, and he quickly corrects. "I mean Mon el. I'm Mon el. Yep. Just Mon el," he babbles as Kara face palms herself.
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize you had company," Clark whispers to Kara, then turns to Mon el. "I was just patrolling the neighborhood and wanted to see if the young lady here needed some help from, from the alien with the, the-."
"-It's okay, Clark. He knows," Kara cuts him off before he digs himself a larger hole trying to make up that excuse. "That's Mon-el. You know, the Daxamite I told you about?"
"Oh," Clark says, now studying Mon el with curiosity. Kara did tell him that their mystery Kryptonian is actually a Daxamite and that she's training him. "Oh," he says again when he notices Mon el is in his underwear. "I didn't know you guys were, umm-"
"Yeah," Kara laughs nervously. "I mean, I," she turns to Mon el with a sigh. "Could you give us a minute?"
"Sure," Mon el says, and before he leaves, he grabs Clark by his hands, once again, shaking them, and adds, "I have so much to ask you, Sir, so much to learn from you. I can't wait. I'm so excited."
Clark smiles back, patting his arm. "I'm excited to get to know you better too, Mon el. And please, call me Clark."
Mon el's eyes light up like its Christmas. "Clark," he tests out the word, and on seeing Kara's impatient glare, finally leaves.
Kara begins with a nervous laugh, while Clark smiles. "I'm sorry. I wanted to tell you sooner."
"It's fine," Clark assures.
Kara continues. "It's just, he's a Daxamite, and they're a race of bullies and misogynists and slavery and monarchy and everything that Krypton is not- thank Rao- and, I guess I was scared you might disapprove?"
"You can't judge a person by his race, Kara," Clark reasons. "By that logic, all humans are murderous savages and Martians are xenophobic mind controllers."
Kara smiles. "You are so Superman." They both chuckle at that comment. Then Kara adds, hesitantly. "I just wanted you to like him."
"I do," Clark assures.
"Really?" Kara asks, a wave of relief already washing over her now that everyone in her life finally knows about her and Mon el and approves.
"Yeah," Clark says with a nod. "He must be a good guy, or you wouldn't be with him."
Kara scoffs. "He can be a real pain when he wants to be."
"You know I have super hearing too, right?" Mon el yells from the other room.
"You know you shouldn't be eavesdropping, right?" Kara yells back. "Such a pain," she mumbles to herself, before turning to Clark. "So, do you wanna, maybe rest? I can have the guest bedroom ready in like a minute."
"Already done," Mon el says, now joining them once again. "Your bed is made and you can now lay in it."
Kara wrinkles her nose. "That's not what that proverb means."
"Thank you, Mon el," Clark says, this time initiating the handshake before Mon el can. "I'll see you guys in the morning then."
"Goodnight, Clark," Kara says, and hugs him.
"Sweet dreams!" Mon el adds.
When Clark is out of sight, he turns to Kara with the biggest grin on his face. "I can't believe it! I just met Superman."
Kara rolls her eyes. "Wow, you've got Winn beat at being a fanboy."
"Well, it's Superman."
"And I'm Supergirl," she points out.
"I know. I'm a fan of you too, babe. Specially that thing you do with your tongue where-"
Kara's eyes widen in panic. "-Lalalala, he can still hear us," she cuts him off before he can finish that thought.
He closes his mouth with a pout. "Right. Hey, should I tell him to sign my action figurine?"
Kara laughs. "You have an action figure of Superman?"
Mon el looks genuinely confused. "Yeah. Don't you?"
Kara shakes her head. She's way too tired for this conversation. She grabs Mon el by his elbow and starts dragging him to their room. "Come on, we should get some rest too."

Love (and Other Feelings Like It)
A thank you to @brinshannara for the beta, you great <3
This is J’onn centered, SuperCorp sap. And you can read it on AO3
The first thing J’onn felt was panic, pure, unadulterated panic. Even before Kara’s head shot up to grin at the heartbeat she could hear through the door, J’onn felt the anxiety wafting from the hallway.
“Lena!”
He’d felt a lot of emotional whiplash in his life, but this was something else. J’onn grimaced as he felt the headache begin. The relief he felt from her was short-lived though, the anxiety already tumbling back into place as she stepped into the apartment.
J’onn was impressed, the only tell to her nerves was the whitening of her knuckles around her purse strap.
James’ reaction was not surprising, you didn’t need telepathy to tell that he wasn’t exactly pleased. However, the panic, anger, betrayal, worry, determination… the dichotomy of his feelings, that surprised J’onn. The amount this man felt seemed borderline painful.
But he stood and nodded at Ms. Luthor, “Ms. Luthor, welcome to the club.”
The first of Ms. Luthor’s anxiety slipped away. J’onn nodded, perhaps James finally had enough proof.
Winn’s overwhelming emotion was excitement, as always. J’onn tried his best not to roll his eyes as Winn nearly leapt over the couch to introduce himself. There was worry in the back of his mind, but there was science in the front of it and Winn didn’t hold back his questions.
“Hi! I’m Winn, Winn Schott, we met at the gala where you made that anti-plasma bomb, could I ask you how you came up with the idea? It was brilliant! And the coupling reactor you had was incredible! That’s at least a couple of years ahead of anything I’ve ever seen before! I’ve got some schematics actually, I was wondering-“
Kara laughed. J’onn did his best not grimace at the blast of affection that wrapped through Lena’s mind. He hadn’t felt anything like that since Alex finally rectified her situation with Detective Sawyer…
“Winn, let her sit down at least!”
Oh god.
J’onn must have groaned out loud, Alex’s hand landed on his arm and he felt her instinct to pull her gun. He shook his head and patted her shoulder as he stood. This was going to make his life a whole hell of a lot harder.
“Hank Henshaw. Ms. Luthor, it’s a pleasure to finally meet you.” Her handshake was firm and J’onn found nothing but worry and thoughts of sunshine in the top layers of her mind.
Well, at least he could take Lena Luthor off the watch list.
“Ms. Luthor.” Alex nodded at her and J’onn felt her slight apprehension, but she followed J’onn’s lead and added, “It’s nice to see you again.”
He felt a bloom of appreciation flood his chest. He knew Alex had her reservations about the Luthor, could feel her worry and disbelief, even with all of Kara’s trust. But she would try and he watched as the same flash of appreciation slipped over Kara’s face.
At least he didn’t need telepathy to read her.
Detective Sawyer opened the bathroom door and stopped. He felt her unease, not that he could blame her at all. She had put Ms. Luthor in handcuffs, for the job or not, that was awkward.
“Uh, Lena, you’ve already met Maggie Sawyer from the NCPD…” Kara did her best not to glare at Maggie. J’onn almost sighed again; she wasn’t doing a very good job of it.
“Ah! Ms. Luthor, sorry about before.” Maggie wiped her hands on her jeans and stepped forward to hold out her hand. “The job and all.”
J’onn felt the hurt on Lena, felt the doubt creep back in. Good lord, no wonder she’d taken to Kara so quickly. This woman needed some sunshine in her life.
“Of course.” Lena’s reply was… courteous, professional. Very briefly, J’onn thought about hiring her as a consultant to train his new recruits. Too bad he could never pay her enough.
Detective Sawyer grinned and J’onn matched her smile before she could even get her words out, “Y’know, just can’t help myself when cuffing a pretty lady.”
He withheld his laughter, the shock in the room dissipated with Kara and Alex’s twin cries of:
“Maggie!”
And just like that, all the tension in the air disappeared. Trust a detective to read a room. Maybe he could tempt her away from the NCPD.
Lena’s emotions were rather comical; it was like watching one of those human sitcoms. She slipped from distrust and hurt to surprise and amusement. Humans normally ate popcorn when they watched a show; J’onn felt it would be an appropriate time for popcorn.
Alex’s embarrassment slipped over him from behind and honestly, J’onn would never tire of that feeling. It always washed away to, there, that mix of pride and giddiness that only the detective could bring out in her.
“What? Don’t tell me any of you wouldn't do the same, given the chance!” A chorus of groans followed her words and the detective, armed with a shit-eating grin, only dug herself in deeper. She leaned into Lena’s space and stage whispered, “You’re kind of an icon in the lesbian community, what with the big ‘L’ on your building.”
Panic, but a different kind of panic, J’onn suspected, swirled through Lena’s mind. He nearly applauded the detective though, what a thorough way to lift the mood in the room. He’d need to ask Vasquez to start the paperwork for her transfer to the DEO.
A shame that she couldn’t see Alex like this, she’d never let her fellow agent live this down. He wondered briefly how her night was going. She’d requested the night off a few months back, but only confided to J’onn that she’d be proposing to her long-time girlfriend a week ago. No wonder he kept feeling apprehension scorch through her randomly at the DEO.
“Oh! Good! You brought wine!” Alex stood and clapped her hands together, pulling J’onn from his thoughts. “If Maggie’s going to be like this, then I think I’ll have a glass.”
Detective Sawyer scoffed and J’onn couldn’t miss the amusement and love that flooded off her. “C’mon, babe, you love my gay jokes!”
Alex sighed as she relieved Lena of the bottle, “Whatever you say, Mags.” Her eyes narrowed and J’onn felt what he could only describe as hunger jolt through her, “Holy shit. You can come back anytime, Lena, anytime.”
A waft of pleasure drifted from Lena at Alex’s careless pat of her shoulder. J’onn could get used to these game nights.
He really didn’t understand the point of this game. The rules said to match the red cards to the green card’s description, however most of the time it was the red card furthest from the green card’s description which won.
Humans.
He laid down his cards in forfeit of this game. He’d dulled his senses to try and make the game fair, but he needed to check in with their surroundings and the DEO.
Love, appreciation, happiness, not the worst emotions to come back to at all, but they still blindsided J’onn. He looked over at Lena as she watched Kara.
‘…wouldn’t look through the cards. She’s competitive but she’d never… again? No, she wouldn’t… but her glasses do slip every now and again…’
So, the Luthor knew. But there was quite obviously no malice in her thoughts. Perhaps… perhaps she could be good for Kara.
Kara still smarted from her fallout with Mon-El. Which was the main reason they hadn’t postponed this game night to wait for Vasquez and, while J’onn was not surprised nor saddened by the Daxamite’s retreat from Kara, he was worried for her.
She didn’t always make the best decisions for herself.
He turned from the cacophony of emotions and picked up his phone. Perhaps he’d send a quick message to Susan as well. Although, if what he remembered of Anne was correct, she may not have access to her phone until well into tomorrow.
James left first, an emergency at Catco.
Maggie and Alex followed not too long after. Their excuse really wasn’t even worth repeating, with a glass of exceptionally expensive red wine in Alex’s system and two in Maggie’s, they weren’t getting any work done tonight.
Winn and Lena talked for some time about particle displacers. Their ideas were exceptionally on point and J’onn mourned again the staggering paycheck this woman would deserve.
She was finally relaxed though. The glass of wine she’d nursed most of the night probably helped with that, but the easy conversation well within her comfort zone seemed to ease her as well.
Kara wandered around the living room, she’d already brushed off everyone’s offers of assistance multiple times. She seemed happy, content to listen to Lena and Winn’s chatter. J’onn threw in his two cents every now and again, mostly on better materials, but he was equally content as his ‘Space Daughter’ to let the ambiance of their conversation wash through him.
Winn’s phone dinged from his pocket and his eye widened at the text, excitement, anxiety, pleasure… probably the girlfriend J’onn mused.
“Oh crap, sorry, Kara, Lena, I’ve got a date!” J’onn congratulated himself silently. “It was awesome talking with you, Lena! Bye, Kara! See ya, J’onn!”
He left in a rush of fluttering feelings and made it out the door before Kara spotted his jacket. “Winn!” She turned back to J’onn and Lena and flashed a smile that sent another wave of affection spiraling off the CEO. “That guy, be right back!”
The warmth of affection stayed in Lena’s chest as her gaze lingered on the door.
“Kara’s not a very patient person.” J’onn pulled his arm from the back of the couch and tilted his head at Lena. “She tends to jump into any relationship that’s easy for her, even if it’s not good for her. She craves affection.”
Confusion rolled off the Luthor and J’onn raised his hand to stop her words. “While neither she nor her sister are telepaths,” He called up the power that always sat in his chest, turning his eyes a striking red. “I am.”
Fear.
“So, while I would love to hire you to train my recruits on proper emotional regulation on the job, I don’t suggest that kind of limiting in the home. It tends to be toxic.” He stood and stretched to the side. “I see how you feel about her, and you’re correct, if you wait, she just might notice you. But how many failed relationships do you want her to go through before that?”
Confusion, worry, fear, apprehension… hope.
“I can see how you would treat her.” He reached for his jacket and slung it over his shoulders before looking the woman in the eyes. “Just know that I consider her a daughter and you’ll have much worse that Alex Danvers to deal with if you hurt her.”
Hope, hope, hope.
J’onn smiled, “Though I can see that’s nowhere in your mind.” He heard Kara’s hand on the opposite side of the door. “Don’t wait too long, Lena. I have a feeling you won’t regret asking.”
The door opened and Kara looked at him in confusion. “Won’t regret what?”
“I’m sure your CEO friend would love to tell you. Goodnight, Kara.”
He turned down the hallway, the thoughts and feelings of the apartment’s inhabitants filtering through the walls. One held a mother and her child, watching cartoons, another, an elderly couple reading in the light of their bedside lamps; a brother and a sister, a man and his dog, a lady and a staggering number of plants, a family of five… a young CEO and an alien.
Love wrapped around this apartment and J’onn let it permeate his very bones. Maybe he’d go flying.
J’onn walked into the control room six days later. A bouquet of sweet peas and hydrangeas waited on the center console. J’onn very pointedly didn’t smile.
“Sir, those are compliments of Lena Luthor. The morning guard brought them this morning, there don’t seem to be any suspicious compounds and the lab has gon-”
Apprehension, worry. “Thank you Agent Hawthorn. I assure you they’re perfectly safe.” J’onn turned to the woman, she was a new recruit, a good one too. “Also, Supergirl flies in and out of this building daily, there’s a fan club camped outside almost constantly, I think Ms. Luthor knew our location long before she sent these. If she was going to try anything, she already would have.”
Agent Hawthorn snapped to attention, embarrassment sliding from her mind, “Of course, sir.”
J’onn nodded and she turned to leave. Vasquez sidled up beside him. She didn’t say anything, she didn’t have to. J’onn rolled his eyes.
“Yes, yes, you weren’t the only one having a good night. No, Ms. Luthor doesn’t need to be on the watch list anymore and no, I have nothing else to say on the matter.”
Vasquez bit her lip and saluted. J’onn didn’t know where she’d learned to salute sarcastically, but she’d learned it well. “Tell Anne I say ‘hi’.”
“Of course, sir.”
Happiness. Love. The chatter of minds at work. J’onn turned to the screens and folded his arms behind his back. Minds at work….
“Mr. Schott, I know you aren’t using DEO equipment for games.”
A squeak came from behind J’onn and only Vasquez caught his smile.

Alright so I saw @kara-luthors post about Eliza coming to town and asking Lena how long she and Kara have been dating thing and my brain went, what if it happened in a canon compliant universe instead of a (better) AU where they have in fact been dating without telling the others. Then this mess happened.
Kara and Mon-el are either still threatening us with a relationship or they’re in one and haven’t announced it yet when Eliza comes to town. Kara decides to host one of her super friends/family dinners so that everyone can catch up and spend some much overdue quality time with one another.
Kara is very insistent about Lena attending. The idea being that if everyone got a chance to see the Lena that Kara sees then they might remember to trust her the next time Luthor related drama starts up. And as honoured as she is to be Lena’s friend she doesn’t like being the only one because Lena deserves to have a whole crowd of people she can rely on.
Things start off a little awkward just because everyone is kinda wary of Lena and also guilty about it after the last time they were proved wrong about her. It doesn’t help that defensive Lena can be a little too formal for such a casual setting, or that Lena is the only one that doesn’t officially Know about Kara being Supergirl.
But Kara turns up her bubbly charm to 11 and makes sure to start up conversations that she knows Lena and at least one other person out of her friends will be interested in. Winn is the first to really help break the tension with Lena and address her without getting prompted. He strikes up a conversation about one of L Corps developing technologies and somehow it turns into debate over what the best sonic screwdriver design was in Doctor Who.
Kara and Lena never really leave each others side for long. They stay physically close even if they get drawn into different conversations. Kara is protective. Lena is just kinda awkward and Kara is the only person she knows well enough to be comfortable near. The persona she would normally put on for parties and galas doesn’t quite work in such an intimate gathering and she doesn’t want to come off as fake or stuck up to Kara’s friends when she knows how much Kara wants the night to go well. On the few occasions Kara needs to help find or fetch things in the kitchen or goes to the bathroom, Winn is once again the one that steps up to keep her involved.
Because of their proximity, and just because Kara is a physically affectionate person, shoulder nudging, and other such touching happens when they get caught up in whatever is being discussed.
Eventually Eliza conscripts J’onn to watch over the last of the cooking so she can talk more or less one on one with Lena. Kara debates what bakery sells the best cupcakes in National City with Alex and Maggie from the seat next to Lena and the three of them pretend they don’t know Eliza and Lena are chatting right there.
Lena has finally relaxed a little but she’s more wary with Eliza than most of the others. She isn’t used to mothers that are so motherly, and Eliza is just so warm. Eliza is asking her about the events of the past few months and how she’s been coping with it all, and without breaking from her own conversation Kara takes Lena’s hand in support.
By the time Lena has filled Eliza enough to appease her curiosity Eliza has already decided that Lena is her newest child. She pats Lena on the knee and tells her she will always have the Danvers family on her side, and that if she ever needs someone to talk to she’s not only welcome but is encouraged to give Eliza a call. Kara squeezes Lena’s hand as if to say I told you so, and it takes all Lena’s self control not to turn into a .
A little later at the dinner table, relationships get brought up. It is just past Valentines and even if they can’t really talk about the Mr Mxyzptlk situation properly since Lena doesn’t Know, it was something that made all of the papers so they can talk about it in the general sense. Alex is like a bottle of wine in at this point and happy to gush about how sweet Maggie was setting up a date for their first valentine's.
Maybe at this point Mon-el and Kara share a look, either to acknowledge what happened just before Mr Mxyzptlk appeared or as a sort of should we tell them we’re together look which is of course when it happens.
Alex has just finished telling everyone about hers and Maggie’s amazing night (some details left out of course since her mother and her alien dad are there) when Eliza turns to Kara and Lena and asks what they did for Valentines.
Lena catches the implication straight away and sort of freezes because yeah she’d like something to have happened but it didn’t, and how does she explain that when Eliza not only assumed she and Kara were together but was also so accepting and sweet about it? Maggie and J’onn catch it right away too. J’onn is keeping quiet because he can read the thoughts of almost everyone at the table and doesn’t want to be the one that lights the powder keg. Maggie is just trying not to laugh.
Kara does not seem to catch the implication. She just talks about how it was a pretty quiet day for her since she was mostly focused on work and the whole Lena is innocent story. Then she mentions that Lena filled her office with flowers.
Eliza coos over that. Lena is actually starting to blush at this point because she knows how it sounds. Kara is starting realise what her foster mother meant as well. James and Winn are also realising what is happening as they look between Eliza smile and Lena’s blush. They might have recovered quickly with Alex’s coming out but this is a whole new level and they just sort of gape instead of saying anything.
As Kara gets to the part of her day where she finished work and went to go check on Lena she kind of trails off, because ok yeah it really does make it sound like she and Lena are a thing and oh Rao Eliza thinks she and Lena are a thing. She looks wide eyed over at Lena who is starting to look a little more red than pink.
It’s about this time that Alex and Mon-el catch on.
Alex chokes on her wine and Maggie starts fussing over her to try and keep herself from grinning like a cheshire cat.
Mon-el cuts in to talk about how Kara called him over to talk after that, and how they were together when “news” about Mr Mxyzptlk interrupted them, even going so far as to put a hand on Kara’s. To absolutely no effect because Kara is already jumping into babble mode and takes her hand away so she can make gestures.
Because no it wasn’t like that and Kara and Lena are definitely not dating. No way. They were thankyou flowers. And Kara was just worried about her friend. Because they are friends. Just friends, and that is what friends do. They check on each other. And Kara would never date Lena. Not because of anything wrong with Lena. Kara doesn’t even know if she likes women. She also doesn’t know if Lena likes women, even if Kara might.
Cue an awkward cough of “I do” from Lena, to which Maggie nods along to knowingly. Lena is a celebrity that loves women so of course Maggie had heard about it ages ago. It just hasn’t been spoken about in years since the Luthor name started spiralling.
So that’s that. Lena likes women but they would still never date. Because Lena is gorgeous and kind and smart and funny and anyone would be lucky to date Lena. Kara would be lucky to date Lena. It’s just that Lena is a totally different league and deserves so much better.
Lena can’t help but jump in and disagree. Lena isn’t too good for Kara. Kara is too good for Lena.
So then Lena and Kara are having this argument that is more like a mutual admiration society, where their reasons for dating one another have nothing to do with any other relationships they have going on, and everything to do with how the other is too wonderful or lovely for the other to be worthy.
No one else can get a word in edgewise. Alex has down another glass of wine and considered getting up to pour something harder, but she’s glued to her seat watching these two gay disasters collide.
Before anyone has managed to work out how it all came to this Kara and Lena are planning how they’ll take each other out on dates next weekend to prove once and for all which one of them is the most unworthy of dating the other.
They finalize their agreement on their little challenge with a handshake and then Kara turns to Eliza (who is confused but amused by what she just witnessed) and in an effort to completely ignore the strange event that just happened asks her if the old guy who works in the high school science department sent her flowers again this valentines.
There is a moment of silence where Kara is hoping Eliza will just answer and they’ll all move on. Then the table erupts with everyone asking what the fuck they just witnessed.

👫 (for Mon!)
four headcanons || accepting
o1. girl talks(since we saw in last night’s ep that mon-el came to winn after an argument with kara, and winn brought up his girl problem to him) winn and mon-el hang out after work sometimes, or even just a little bit after training sessions, and just air their grievances to one another - if kara and mon-el are having some problems, or if winn’s having some issues with lyra, the two are there to help each other out. but also, it’s not necessarily limited to girl talks, though that probably would dominate conversation topics. winn could also help mon-el out with the earth lingo (though he hasn’t exactly been doing a bang-up job so far).
o2. foodwhen things get boring at the DEO, winn invites mon-el into the break room, grabs whatever food he can find that comes in little pieces (grapes, gummy bears, etc.), and plays a little game with him, that he qualifies as being acceptable to play in the workplace because it can count as mon-el’s “training”. winn throws the piece of food up in the air, not right at mon-el, and let’s him “test his super speed” to run and try and catch the food in his mouth.
o3. the “secret handshake”we saw in a recent episode (i believe it was “we can be heroes”?) that winn and mon-el high-fived, and then winn turned around to get a ‘behind-the-back’ high five, which mon-el rejected. BUT that’s definitely a thing. they definitely have a little high-five handshake.
o4. guys nightsinitially winn was a little wary of mon-el, but he’s grown on him now, and he’s definitely all for the idea of introducing mon-el to the earthly social convention of ‘guys night’ - that doesn’t involve being coerced into drink after drink after drink when it’s totally not supposed to be allowed. pizza, video games, beer, buffalo wings - all included. friendly and fun. no jealousy and no tricks. :)
