Sinvertek - N5 MGAT-1
2023 Marshall Hyper-Preamp in a box
"entirely handwired by the chief and designer Mr. WU himself and its limited to only 250 units worldwide, it represents classic Marshall tones from JTM to SLP to JCM. This pedal like no other its truly a piece of engineering art ! (It is really is and don't be so overwhelmed with all the knobs and switches. Once you find what works for your amps and set-up, you'll pretty much cut most of half of those out from ever changing, and then know when you want to dial in more or less of the other more obvious features like gain and such)."
"VERY DESIREABLE PEDAL to those who are not familiar."
"Good lord. I’d need to study the manual for a year to play that thing."

More keyboards added to my shop at weirdlittlekeebs.com!
Corne, Tanuki, and Stress PCBs!
A Not-So-Slimbox, which is a Hitbox-inspired handwired fightpad!
A pre-build NINE wireless split keyboard! It uses a system of layers to provide most every keystroke with just 9 keys on each side.
The gorgeous Kasumigasane 16-key macropad, with a bunch of configuration options and 8 different options for the look of the outer frame, all with a unique case made of layers of PCB material. I have one pre-built macropad and some PCBs.
A Dissatisfaction30 macropad with a 3D printed case!
A Crisco 20-key keyboard! You could use it as a macropad, but it comes with a chording system that lets you use it as a full QWERTY keyboard with only 20 keys!

Grumble. Took a soldering iron to a handwired mechanical keyboard that had three switches which weren't firing, and managed somehow to fix one switch, but break another!

so i've been using my corne for the past few weeks and it has not been the silver bullet i've wanted it to be (though there's a lot of tweaking that i haven't done yet) BUT
as im typing this (on a keychron k8, my hands like variety) i gotta say i dont think i will go back to non-programmable external keyboards. the quality of this is really nice, but if i can't hit a singular button to look at unread messages on discord, what's the use? and that's not even getting into the fancy stuff, tap-hold combos and whatever
i can definitely see keyboards being a hobby i get actually Into... the corne was easy to build, but i'd really like to try more soldering, maybe even handwiring. there's a lot of electronics projects i really want to work on..
i'd really like to build a keyboard that runs off QMK (tragically, this forces it to be wired) so i can do a mouse emulation layer. i might try something like warpd in the meantime, but i want to build the ultimate device that makes the entire computer appear easily at my hands

National Christmas Lights Day
Creating a luminous wonderland that brightens the darkest season, celebrating with glimmering decorations that adorn the night.
The month of December is finally here and it’s time to get started on those holiday decorations. Of course, one of the most important parts of the festivities are the strings of lights, whether colorful or white, that can be strung about the trees, bushes, windows, light poles, rooflines and more.
It’s time to light up the night during this festive season, and the first order of business is to celebrate National Christmas Lights Day!
History of National Christmas Lights Day
The background of electric lights used for Christmas decorations can be followed back to the late 1800s when lights were first strung together by a man named Edward H. Johnson. A partner and friend of Thomas Edison, Mr. Johnson handwired some lights together to combat the safety issues that were often encountered when people would use open-flamed candles to light their Christmas trees.
By 1895, US President Grover Cleveland requested that the family tree in the White House be decorated with strings that included hundreds of Christmas lights. This set a trend and the idea of decorating with lights during the winter holiday season has become an important tradition. Some neighborhoods even hold contests or competitions to see who has the best decorated houses.
Join in on the fun and get into the spirit of the season by observing and enjoying National Christmas Lights Day!
How to Celebrate National Christmas Lights Day
Get involved with the festivities of the season and kick things off with the celebration of National Christmas Lights Day! Consider some of these fun activities to participate in the day:
Put Up Some Christmas Lights
This is the time to get truly festive by hanging those Christmas lights all throughout the house, in the front yard, back garden and various other places. National Christmas Lights Day is the unofficial time that everyone will be ready to welcome in the festive season with lights of red, green, blue and so many other delightful colors. It might even be fun to put up a small, battery powered string of lights around the desk at work or some people might even want to decorate their cars with Christmas lights (though check with local law enforcement first to see if it’s allowed) in celebration of the occasion!
Host a Christmas Lights Gathering
Get ahead of the game for the holiday parties and host a gathering of a few friends or family members in honor of National Christmas Lights Day. Have some folks over and make a party out of hanging up the lights, decorating the tree, and even baking and decorating some cookies that are representative of the season. Put on some Christmas music or play a favorite Christmas movie in the background. This could be a delightful way to celebrate the day with loved ones – and also get those lights hung at the same time.
Get Environmentally Friendly Christmas Lights
With the awareness that the use of energy can be a drain on the earth’s resources, celebrate this holiday season with a more earth-friendly take by purchasing lights that are better for the environment. Solar powered string lights can be a great option, especially for those who live in a sunnier portion of the world.
Another option is to be sure that any new lights purchased are LED rather than incandescent, because the LED lights use up about 80% less energy. In addition, be sure to get a timer box, which is just a simple contraption which lights can be plugged into to make sure they turn off at a reasonable hour, to avoid wasting energy by keeping them on all night long.
View Some Christmas Light Displays
It might be fun to take a little drive on this day to check out the previously mentioned neighborhoods where Christmas light displays are a big thing. Or, for folks who live in larger cities, it could be fun to take a walk and view the Christmas displays in the shop windows or light displays that are put on at local parks, museums or other outdoor spaces. Many cities with zoos will have a special light up festival for winter visitors to the zoo. Bundle up in warm clothes, pack some travel cups filled with hot chocolate and get ready to enjoy some amazing light-up displays on National Christmas Lights Day!
Watch the National Christmas Tree Lighting
One interesting event that is celebrated in the United States is the annual lighting of the national Christmas Tree at the White House in Washington, DC. The large evergreen tree, located on the northeast portion of the property, has a 100-year old tradition of being decorated as a Christmas tree. Typically, on either November 30 or December 1, the President and First Lady make a ceremony of the lighting of the tree. In honor of National Christmas Lights Day, it might be fun to watch the ceremony and get all the excitement from the event.

watched a video this morning about the integrated circuit chips in a lot of 80s analog synths and realizing just how different an animal these synths are from the modular synthesizers of the late 60s and the 70s
like ive known for years “oh yeah prophets used SSM chips until they switched to curtis chips thats why the filter in the rev 3 prophet 5 sounds different” or “tom oberheim used his original SEM designs until eventually switching to curtis chips with the OB-Xa” but only now am i grasping these are synthesizers whose individual components are all ICs effectively from off the shelf
this isnt a bad thing i love the sound of the prophet 5 and i love a lot of 80s synths i just never really thought about how this actually affected synth design, i never realized anything more than just the filter was an IC i never realized even the envelopes and VCAs in a lot of 80s synths were literally the exact same chips
and yet at the same time conceptually, isnt this kinda what happened to modular too? like we went from everyone handwiring their own filter and oscillator designs to now in eurorack world you can buy individual modules to build the synth of your dreams
the modules in a modular synth are basically the same concept as the ICs in a lot of analog polysynths from the late 70s and 80s, youre buying what is effectively kind of an off the shelf part and sticking it in your synthesizer instead of designing your own and building it yourself or buying someone elses unique design
it kinda lends to the idea that its not what parts you have, its how you use them. im convinced even more than ever now that a vast majority of analog subtractive synthesizers all sound more or less the same and the major difference in sounds is in terms of what features it has that others dont or the way its laid out affecting how you program it. i feel like looking at an OB-Xa, a jupiter 8, and a prophet 5, you cant help but program different kinds of sounds with them because of their different layouts and different feature sets and THATS where the sound difference comes into play
synthesizers are so cool i love all kinds of synthesizers i love instruments that allow you to create the sound of the instrument and as much as im diving headfirst into the modular world and falling deeply in love with the idea of building an instrument from the ground up i also still love the analog polysynths of the 70s and early 80s or the digital behemoths of the rest of the 80s and everything thats come since then

Totally agree. In stock here if ya need one in ya life …..Posted @withrepost • @silktoneamps Astro love ❤️ - It’s hard to pick a favorite of your own designs sometimes but I’ve been loving the Astro so much lately after spending a bunch of time building the last batch. This thing is so fun. All the rich tones you can get with it still having clarity and immediacy really show off our whole vintage modern vibe and make it hard to stop playing and ship out 😅 #guitaramp #boutiqueamps #guitar #tonefordays #silktoneamps #electricguitar #handwired #toneheaven (at Axe and You Shall Receive Inc.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkbVbnxu5hv/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I commissioned Otacat to do Vaporwave-inspired art of my OC Kurumi in a teal one-piece swimsuit holding a 65% keyboard, with the aim of making stickers and using it for the cover of the book on keyboards I've been writing.
The stickers are now up on Etsy for sale (they're holographic and everything), and also I gave into temptation and put together a reasonable approximation of Kurumi's keyboard. I started with a pink MXRSKEY CK650 keyboard (which has a well-made CNC'd aluminum gasket case, plus both Bluetooth and 2.4GHz wireless) with Everglide Aqua King switches and Drop + Mito DCX Cyanlet keycaps. It cost me like $300, but it genuinely feels amazing to type on.
(The black and white thing in the upper right is a handwired Bento macropad that I customized to use for Google video meetings.)
