Man and Van in Bromley - Man and Van Star
How to choose man with a van?
Choosing the right "man with a van" service requires careful consideration of several factors to ensure a smooth and satisfactory moving experience. Here are some steps to help you choose the right provider:
Tumblr media
Research Local Providers: Start by researching local man and van services in your area. You can use online search engines, directories, or recommendations from friends and family to compile a list of potential providers.
Check Reviews and Ratings: Look for reviews and ratings of each provider online. Websites like Google, Yelp, or specialized moving platforms often feature customer reviews and ratings, providing insights into the quality of service, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Verify Licensing and Insurance: Ensure that the man and van service you're considering is licensed and insured. This helps protect your belongings in case of damage or loss during the moving process. Ask the provider for proof of insurance and any necessary licenses or certifications.
Evaluate Experience and Expertise: Consider the experience and expertise of the service provider. Choose a provider with a proven track record of successfully handling similar moves and demonstrating professionalism and reliability.
Request Quotes: Contact several man and van services to request quotes for your specific moving needs. Be prepared to provide details such as the size and quantity of items to be moved, the distance of the move, any additional services required, and the desired moving date.
Compare Pricing and Services: Compare the quotes from different providers, taking into account both the pricing and the services offered. While affordability is essential, prioritize providers that offer transparent pricing, clear communication, and comprehensive services.
Ask About Equipment and Vehicles: Inquire about the type of vehicles and equipment used by the man and van service. Ensure that the vehicle is appropriate for your moving needs and that the provider has the necessary tools and equipment to handle your items safely and efficiently.
Check Availability and Scheduling: Verify the availability of the man and van service for your desired moving date and time. Consider scheduling the move well in advance, especially during peak moving seasons, to secure your preferred time slot.
Communicate Expectations: Clearly communicate your expectations, preferences, and any special requirements to the service provider. This includes details such as parking restrictions, access limitations, fragile items, and specific instructions for handling certain belongings.
Trust Your Instincts: Ultimately, trust your instincts when choosing a man and van service. Select a provider that you feel comfortable with, communicates effectively, and demonstrates professionalism and reliability.
By following these steps and conducting thorough research, you can choose a reputable man with a van service that meets your moving needs and ensures a smooth and stress-free moving experience.

Iron Maiden, As Known By...
Tumblr media
STEVE HARRIS as known by Janick Gers (2003)
I was introduced to Steve and Bruce when Gillan were playing Hammersmith Odeon back in the Eighties. I quite liked the lad at the time, and I met him subsequently at a few Maiden gigs after that. He always seemed quite intense and serious and aware of what was going on.
As a person, Steve is one of the few people you meet that you can trust totally. He wouldn’t sell you down the river, he wouldn’t badmouth you behind your back; he’s a very straight fella. You can confide in him and it won’t get passed around, and he doesn’t bullshit. He has the ability to stand back and look at both sides of a situation, but if he’s convinced that he’s right, he will argue with every fibre of his body and he’ll never change his mind, which I think is a great strength. He has very strong mental tolerance.
In situations where other bands might have caved in, the one thing that has kept Iron Maiden doing what it does best is Steve, because he has this belief that what he’s doing is right. When you’re in a young band and your record company come to you, saying, 'You need to soften up your sound, we need a single', Steve’s the kind of guy you need to turn round to them and say, 'Fuck off!'
Steve has a very fertile imagination and a very simple way of writing lyrics. It’s not highbrow stuff – it’s deeper than that. He writes it as he sees it and you really get the feeling the words are from inside him. Every time I play the song ‘Blood Brothers’, it makes me shiver, because he hit the nail on the head. He lost his dad when he was on tour and when things like that happen to you, sometimes you go to deep places - everyone experiences that - but to be able to write it down is another thing. When you read his lyrics, there’s an honesty in there that comes out and he opens himself up more than he does when you’re talking to the guy.
He’s a great football player and he had the choice to play football professionally or play music when he was a kid, but I think he made the right decision. I don’t think he could cope with the discipline of the footballer’s life at the time when you’re a teenager and you’re starting to meet people and get into music. He’s his own man. But having said that, he doesn’t drink much and he takes care of his body – that’s very important to him. Being a sportsman, his attitude is that if your body is healthy, your mind is too, and I think that helps with the band, because you don’t get locked into that stupid rock'n’roll 'let’s go party every night' lifestyle.
He is an idiosyncratic bass player. He picked up the bass and taught himself in such a way that nobody can really copy it. People say it’s like a lead guitar, but it’s not. It gives the band a basis and it moves around quite a lot, but it’s the tone that he has. He has a way of hearing things and a tone that isn’t normally associated with a bass, it’s more like a rhythm guitar. Him and Nicko provide the pulse of Iron Maiden, the body of the band. You copy it at your peril, because the sound of Maiden is built around the way Steve plays bass and the only band that it would work in is Maiden.
Steve has been very involved in the new album. He has this tunnel vision where he can really hone in on things and he has this tremendous focus when he’s recording albums - or doing anything with Iron Maiden really. He wants to get it right and he’s prepared to put the time in. Not many people have that kind of determination and focus.
He is a very, very strong personality. Without his drive and ambition, it wouldn’t be Iron Maiden, no doubt about it. He’s its heart and its power.

Towards the end of his life, the actor Adrian Schiller, who has died unexpectedly aged 60, found success and sudden fame in two blockbuster TV shows: The Last Kingdom (2018-22), on Netflix, in which he played the richest man in medieval Wessex, Aethelhelm; and ITV’s drama Victoria (2016-19), as Cornelius Penge, a footman in the royal household.
In both, a fleeting glance would suggest that here was a naturally authoritative actor, blessed with gravitas and style. This camouflaged the demonic comic spirit within, which had informed so many of his memorable stage performances since he first appeared in the German Expressionist Carl Sternheim’s 1911 play The Knickers at the Lyric, Hammersmith, in 1991. In a delicious comic performance, he played a weak-chested Wagner-loving barber thunderstruck by a flash of discarded lingerie as the Kaiser drove by, suggesting, said the Times critic, “a tousle-headed combination of Charlie Chaplin, Egon Schiele and Gollum, whose idea of romance is reading extracts from the Flying Dutchman”.
Schiller proceeded to leading roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company in the 1990s – his Porter in a disappointing 1996 Macbeth was the funniest I had ever seen, while his entertaining Touchstone in an awful 2000 designer knitwear production of As You Like It rescued another dud evening.
He was less prominent in some strange productions at the National – Peter Handke’s wordless The Hour We Knew Nothing of Each Other in 2008, as one of 27 actors playing 450 characters in a town square, coming and going with no interaction, and as a revolutionary tailor in a poor 2013 retread of Carl Zuckmayer’s 1931 Captain of Kopenick, in which Antony Sher did not eclipse memories of Paul Scofield in the NT’s 1971 production.
On the other hand, he was outstanding in Chekhov’s Three Sisters, superbly directed, and modernised, by Benedict Andrews at the Young Vic in 2012, playing Kulygin, a leather-jacketed schoolteacher tragically infatuated with his own disloyal wife; and he was a compelling, original, quietly spoken and sympathetic Shylock in The Merchant of Venice at the Wanamaker, the candle-lit indoor venue at Shakespeare’s Globe, in 2022. The Merchant rekindled the current noise around the play – is it antisemitic or about antisemitism?
In an interview with the Jewish Chronicle, Schiller tilted towards the second view. He averred that he was “a Jew, but not Jewish”.
Schiller was born in Oxford, the second of four children of Judith (nee Bennett), a teacher, and Klaus Schiller, a gastroenterologist whose family had emigrated from Austria to Britain in 1938. When Klaus was appointed a consultant at St Peter’s hospital, Chertsey, the Schillers moved to Surrey.
Adrian was educated at Kingston grammar school and Charterhouse, in Godalming, Surrey, where he pursued a busy life in stage productions. Instead of drama school, he took a good degree in philosophy (after switching from architecture) at University College London, although he always self-deprecatingly said that he majored in “plays and partying”.
His early television career encompassed series such as Prime Suspect, A Touch of Frost, Judge John Deed and much else, through to the first series of Endeavour in 2013. He also popped up in the Channel 4 series The Devil’s Whore (2008) set in the English civil war, and the Doctor Who story strand The Doctor’s Wife in 2011.
One of his most effective cameos on screen was as the barman in a striking government-sponsored advert in the anti-drink-driving campaign in 2007. He leaned deep into the camera with a series of non-equivocal questions to a bemused, unimpressed young glass-holding customer who may or may not have grasped the seriousness of the interrogation.
But he always returned to the theatre, seeking out the most demanding roles with companies who would accommodate him. He gave an almost ideal Cassius, wirily intellectual while bubbling passionately underneath, said Michael Billington, for David Farr’s 2005 RSC touring version of Julius Caesar. In the title role of Tartuffe at the Watermill, Newbury, in 2006, he was cool and venomous, as well as understated, and clearly the star of the show.
And for Stephen Unwin’s English Touring Theatre in 2007, he rebooted the remorseless villain, De Flores, in Middleton and Rowley’s Jacobean shocker, The Changeling. He was more than notable, too, opposite Sher’s Sigmund Freud, as a vividly hilarious Salvador Dalí, in their great encounter scene in Terry Johnson’s Hysteria at the Hampstead theatre, revived there in 2013, 20 years after its Royal Court premiere.
His feature film credits were not extensive, but in 2014 he was well cast as the sardonic high priest Caiaphas in Son of God, Christopher Spencer’s biblical epic. In Sarah Gavron’s Suffragette (2015), scripted by Abi Morgan, he was an imposing Lloyd George, coming round to the persuasion of the militant vote-seeking women led by Meryl Streep as Emmeline Pankhurst and Carey Mulligan as a fictional worker fuelled by the excitement of change and protest.
His last movie, yet to be released, is Red Sonja, in which he plays the king of Turan in a remake of the 1985 sword-and-sorcery Marvel Comics fantasy.
Back on stage in 2023, he returned to questions of Jewish identity and survival in three short new plays at the Soho theatre and a more substantial Holocaust drama, The White Factory by Dmitry Glukhovsky, at the sparky new Marylebone theatre (formerly the Steiner Hall), in which he was a powerful, wise presence in the story of a survivor of the Łódź ghetto in Poland, played by Mark Quartley, adapting to American life in the Brooklyn of the 60s.
At the time of his death, Schiller – who was also a skilled sculptor and guitarist – had just returned from Sydney and the triumphant international tour of The Lehman Trilogy, directed by Sam Mendes, and had been looking forward to the next leg of the tour in San Francisco.
He is survived by his partner, Milena Wlodkowska, a laboratory support technician, and their son, Gabriel, and by his sister, Ginny, and brothers, Nick and Ben.

When life interrupts, chapter 24
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14183826/24/8
Patrick was in his carrier against Cora’s chest. Robert hadn’t said where they were going. But here they were in the tube. Martha had also come along, and it seemed she knew what they were going to do, and it irritated Cora that she had no clue. She didn’t like surprises and especially not right now. They needed to figure out how to arrange the Barcelona story. She could join Robert in the first months. She had two more months left of her maternity leave. She could go with him.
“Next stop is ours.” Robert touched her shoulder
Cora shook up from her musings. Her hand rested on Patrick’s back. She loved this feeling. Patrick was always so calm when he was in his carrier. She moved her hand and brushed over his head. What made him smile. Cora smiled also and kissed the top of his head. “I love you.” She whispered. In the corner of her eye, she saw Robert and Martha getting up, and she quickly followed them.
“Robert, can you please tell me what we are going to do here?”
Robert wrapped his arm around her waist. “You will see that in a couple of minutes. We should go this way.” He started walking while putting his hand in his pocket.
Cora sighed. She regonized the area. It was Hammersmith, or already Chiswick. She could not figure out why they were there and why her mother had to come too. She hooked her arm into Robert’s and followed next to him.
They stopped in front of a house. “What do you think?” Robert asked.
“What should I think? I do not know why we are looking at this place.” Cora answered.
“Let’s go inside.” Was Robert’s answer, and he walked to the front door.
Cora reluctantly followed. She would have loved to know if they were visiting someone. She would have brought something for them. But when Robert opened the door, she got even more confused. “Why do you have a key to this house?” She asked.
Robert stepped inside and turned around. “Welcome home.” He said with a big smile on his face.
“Home? Oh no, Robert, do not tell me you bought this house.”
Robert stepped closer. “Technically, it isn’t home yet. But it could be after today. Your mother found this place.”
Cora looked at her mother. “Why didn’t you tell me about this?”
Before her mother could answer, Robert said. “What do you think? Come let us walk further in and explore.”
“Let me hold Patrick while you two go in.” Martha offered
It was a 5 bedroom house. A big entrance hall with a spacios reception room, living room, library, and kitchen on the ground floor. On the first floor, there was the masterbedroom, with a walk-in dressing room and ensuite bathroom with a steam shower. There was also a guest suite on the same level. On the second floor were three bedrooms, one was also ensuite and a family bathroom. Outside was a large fenced parking place, dubbel garage, and a well maintained large garden.
“What a beautiful house.” Cora said softly when they were back in the entrance hall.
“Do you see yourself living here?” Robert sat down on the grand staircase.
Cora sat down next to him and nodded. “This is a very peaceful place, and yes, I can see ourselves living here. Are you sure we can afford this?”
Robert chuckled. “You will not have one day in your life where you will have to worry about money. There is enough.”
Cora looked at him. “My father made sure I would never have to worry about money, but buying a house this big is of a different caliber.”
“I think you already suspected it, but there is a title attached to my name. My father is a lord, and I will inherit his title.” He looked at Cora. She was fidgeting with her fingers, but she didn’t react. “Our Patrick will also inherit once I die.”
This elicited a response from Cora. She inhaled sharply. “Let’s not think about that and stay in the present.”
“With my title comes a large sum of money. Also, the company is doing extremely well, so yes, we can definitely afford this house. That is, if you still want to move in together?”
“Oh Robert, you know I want to be with you. We will have to face what is coming to us together. And we need a proper house. One where we have enough space for our little one.”
Robert scooted closer so his hip touched Cora’s. He moved his hand to her abdomen. “Maybe, one day, we will have another one growing in there.”
Cora chuckled. “I do not think that will happen soon, I want to feel more like myself again. And especially not with you moving to Barcelona..”
Robert pulled his hand back and looked down at his shoes. “Don’t remind me of that. I wish I did not have to go. How can I leave you and Patrick.”
“Maybe there is a solution?” Cora started.
“Really?” Robert asked in surprise.
Cora took Robert’s hand in hers. “I have two more months left of my maternity leave, Patrick and I can join you.”
Robert closed his fingers around Cora’s hand. What did he do to deserve such a wonderful woman as Cora. She was willing to go with him. “But Cora, I am not sure if I can go back home after two months. And are you sure you just have two months. Isn’t it more like three?”
“I will need some time to prepare for the lessons. I can’t go back to teaching without proper preparation. But why do you think you can’t come back with two months?”
“Brussels took about 6 months before everything was settled enough for me to leave. And I had John and Anna helping me there. I don’t think John will come to Barcelona this time.”
Cora squeezed his hand and got up from the stairs. “Well, let us talk about that later. Patrick will need his feeding soon, and I want to know more about your title. Do I need to call you Baron from now on?”
Robert also rose to his feet and chuckled. “I am surprised you know about titles.”
“What do you mean by that?” Cora said annoyed.
“I didn’t mean that in a condescending way. I just know that titles are not a thing in America. But I will become an Earl once I get my title. We are higher ranked than a Baron. In the past, we had an estate, but times changed, and we are only left with the title.”
“You just said the title was attached to money, so it is more than just a title.”
“Let’s not talk about that. It isn’t important. We have enough. Well, let’s go home and make sure we get this house.”
Cora saw Robert walking towards the door. Why was he getting defensive the moment she talked about money? She shrugged her shoulders and called out for her mother. Martha walked out of the kitchen, and Cora stretched her arms to take Patrick from her. She needed his body against hers. Something in Robert’s demeanour upset her.

End-of-Tenancy Cleaning – The Decisive Factor To Resolve The Possible Disputes?
Your tenancy agreement has come to an end. Now it is time to leave your rental property. But it can be overwhelming to deal with several things to do. You must locate a new residence and prepare all your possessions for the upcoming moving day! But never forget about the most overlooked tasks. It is none other than the end of tenancy cleaning Hammersmith. It is something that almost all landlords stipulate in their tenancy agreements.
Tumblr media
If you’ve been surprised by the obligations to clean your rental property before leaving? Here is some simple advice for you! You should go with a reliable end-of-tenancy cleaning service in Hammersmith. This short guide will explain how they help you in the process.
What potential conflicts may arise between a landlord or property manager and a tenant? The rental property should be kept in its best shape while vacating a rental property. Cleanliness is the most common thing in most tenancy agreements. Professional end-of-tenancy cleaning is commonly understood as the process of restoring the property to the same level of cleanliness it had at the beginning of your tenancy.
It may prove challenging to recall the exact level of cleanliness of your property. It happens as you stay there for an extended period. It is common advice for new tenants to snap photos of the property upon moving in to document its condition, yet these images often fail to fully depict its cleanliness.
There could potentially arise a discrepancy between yourself and your landlord regarding the property's cleanliness at the start of your lease agreement. Being able to prove you’ve had a professional tenancy cleaning service by a reputable company such as Go For Cleaning. It is an easy and affordable step to ensure your moving process is as hassle-free as possible.
Why End-of-Tenancy Cleaning Needed?
The primary motivation for tenants to opt for an end-of-tenancy deep clean is to ensure the full return of their security deposit. This is particularly beneficial considering the expenses associated with moving homes, and having the deposit refunded can greatly assist with these costs.
In cases where landlords perceive that the property is not as clean as it was during the move-in, they may withhold a portion of the security deposit. This is precisely why it is advisable to rely on professional tenancy cleaning services in Hammersmith instead of attempting to clean the property yourself. By doing so, you can avoid any charges imposed by your landlord for a professional cleaning. The level of cleanliness will matter most in many conditions.
End-of-Tenancy Cleaning Is Easy With Go For Cleaning
Many people keep their living space clean. You have the moving stress. Employing a reputable end-of-tenancy cleaning service can help you save time, and energy, and alleviate any concerns. With experience in end-of-tenancy cleaning, Go For Cleaning can lighten your load. They are the happiest, friendliest and best choice for affordable end-of-tenancy cleaning in Hammersmith and the neighbouring areas. They take cleaning seriously but with a smile on their face. Whatever your needs, they love to hear from you. Give them a call on 020 846 08 928!

The Pros and Cons of kubet dv
The Joe Loss Orchestra 75 And Still In The Mood The Legend Lives On!
In 1930 a talented musician aged 21 decided to form a dance band, and hey presto, the countrys, if not the worlds, longest serving entertainment unit was born and has been doing jus that non-stop ever since! The Joe Loss Orchestra now directed by Todd Miller is still appearing countrywide to this day.
I say entertaining because Joe always said, although we are in the music business we are also entertainers. When Joe became ill in 1990 he asked Todd to take over the Orchestra and not one booking was cancelled. Todd himself joined the Orchestra in 1972 and is now regarded by many as one of the best front men in the business.
It was in 1969 that Joe decided, for financial reasons, that he would reduce the personnel to ten musicians and three vocalists. He felt that when the moment was right he would re-assemble the big band. Indeed to this day there are many musicians playing in present day big bands who appear in the Joe Loss Big Band whenever the band is booked.
On the subject of big bands and their leaders there is an amusing story relating to Joe and Billy Cotton. It appears that one morning just after the end of the war, Joe arrived home after a gig just before breakfast. Having had a quick cup of tea and still in pyjamas and dressing gown, who should be knocking at the front door other than Billy Cotton with a brand new motor car. He insisted on taking Joe for a spin and although the weather conditions were pretty grim, bitterly cold and with thick snow off they went into the surrounding countryside. Unfortunately, before too long the car ran out of petrol (it still being rationed that time didnt help) and Billy left Joe in the car whilst he set off in the quest for a garage. There sat Joe as cold as ice and with teeth chattering when along came the local trang kubet chính thức bobby. Pushing his bicycle, he enquired as to why Joe was sitting in the car in freezing weather wearing his pyjamas and dressing gown. Joe informed the police constable that he was Joe Loss and that Billy Cotton had gone off to try and get some petrol. By the look in his eye the constable was finding it hard to believe such a story, until Billy re-appeared with a can of petrol and convinced the sceptic that the story kubet osasuna was indeed true! The constable cycled away with a smile on his face with two prized autographs in his notebook!
But I digress. It was with an eight-piece band, playing in the style of Oscar Rabins Romany Band at the Astoria Ballroom, that Joe took the first steps to becoming well-known. His growing popularity brought him a job làm giàu từ kubet at the Kit Kat Club where he made many of the BBC outside broadcasts. During his time there he raised the personnel to 11 plus a young lady vocalist a croonette as they were known. She made her first broadcast singing Red Sails In The Sunset the top hit of the day in 1935. She was only 18 and in years to come became the Forces Favourite none other than Vera Lynn.
After a long residency in London Joe began to tour the music halls, as did many bands of the day. During the war he took the band to entertain the troops around the UK and eventually to France and Holland. In 1946 Joe began a regular residency in the Isle of Man from May until the end of September, which lasted until 1959. With the coming together of the ITV companies Joe and the orchestra became the house band for ABC and opened up all of the television regions throughout the UK during the period from 1956 to 1960. They were to be seen regularly on television often up to four times a week. This was followed by a long phần mềm hack kubet residency at the Hammersmith Palais until August 1969 broken only by an 18-week season at the Empire Leicester Square and 12months at the Lyceum in 1967. They then moved on to the Empire until November 1970 at which point Joe decided to retire. He told Sam Watmough, the current manager of the band, who joined in 1956 that during the meeting he was to inform the band of his decision.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joe opened his speech saying Gentlemen, we shall be leaving the Empire and Mecca in 6 weeks time on November 30th. This brought Stan Pickstock, lead trumpet, to his feet, Stan had been with the band since 1961, who said, bloody great, now we can get back on the road, at which point the band applauded.
Joe however was taken aback and said, I didnt think you would want to go on the road again, but if you do thats fine. So the Joe Loss Orchestra was back on the road once again and had remained so ever since.
When Joe first became too ill to travel To0dd fronted the Orchestra until Joe eventually retired on January 31st 1990, two weeks before his 81st birthday. Joe passed away on 8th June, many thought that the Orchestra would not carry on without him, how wrong they were! They remain one of the most popular and busiest bands in the country. To quote Sam Watmough, who had been Joes manager phần mềm hack ku casino for 30 years, I knew what Joe wanted and we are still proud to be known as Todd Miller and the Joe Loss Orchestra. As Todd himself says, We must be doing something right!

The Smart Choice: Why Professional Office Furniture Services Matter
Are you relocating your company to new premises or redesigning the interior of your office? While it may be tempting to save money by completing these project jobs on your own, you are better off working with the best office furniture providers. Let's look at how hiring a professional office furniture service matters for your company.
Maximum Usability
When you look at a well-organised office space, you will notice that several systems in place must all work together to complete tasks. Client video conferences must run smoothly in private spaces; managers must communicate with teams and leadership; receptionists must manage in-person interactions, answer phone calls and emails, and so on. As a result, this office functionality is at the heart of your business.
Hiring professional office furniture providers in Lambeth is advantageous because these specialists understand how these systems must work together to reduce downtime, minimise bugs in the system, and ensure you are up and running as soon as possible. You can relax knowing that these experts will disassemble, move, and reinstall all of your systems, from furniture to technology. Finally, this increases productivity, relieves frustration, and preserves your ability to provide excellent customer service.
Avoid Damage
Although office furniture appears simple, it is difficult to disassemble and reassemble. Especially if you want to avoid further damage. Hiring a professional office service will ensure that your process is quick and efficient. Professional companies not only properly package, move, and install furniture and equipment, but they also provide warranties and insurance for peace of mind and property protection.
Aesthetic Appeal
The appearance of an office space is important to clients, visitors, and employees. The best furniture providers in Hammersmith can assist you in selecting furniture that is consistent with your brand and makes a good first impression. A well-designed workplace can also increase employee morale and attract top talent.
Time is money
An office furniture installation or move is more difficult than a home move. Hard modular units, movable workstations, storage, and other items must be assembled and installed by office furniture installation specialists. Hiring a professional office furniture service will also benefit your company because several specialists will work on-site at the same time to set up workstations, connect your network, and install technology without mixing cables, damaging connections, or damaging equipment.
In the end,
To summarise, professional office furniture services include more than just selecting and delivering furniture. They offer comprehensive solutions that take into account design, functionality, comfort, aesthetics, and budget, resulting in a productive and inviting workspace that supports your company's success.
Are you looking for office Office Furniture Providers Near Me in the UK? Dead Dolly Furniture Consultancy can assist you in designing and installing the ideal design for your company. It's hard to believe that this scruffy corner of Grove Farm was once home to this war memorial. The column, inscribed with 227 names of Lyons employees killed in WW1 was unveiled on 7 October 1922. The screen behind it, with 247 names was unveiled in 1947. The original location was in Lyons sports grounds, but when they were sold in the 1960s the memorial was moved to the factory grounds in Oldfield Lane North. The eventual amalgamation of the company into Allied Domecq led to the closure of the huge Greenford site and the memorial was put into storage before being rededicated at the Margravine Cemetery in Hammersmith.
