Haku/Suigetsu 🤔?
The rarest pair I can think of without it being obviously karin
hmmm
i would be open to it but ive never considered it before.
if i were gonna write it, i think i would have it be like a - childhood friends to lovers kinda thing? but the childhood friends is less "we're best friends!" and more - your adopted murderer (zabuza) is friends with my adopted murderer (kisame) so i guess we're friends?
haku doesnt seem like hed be SUPER receptive to a friend, especially one who he'd view as potential competition, but suigetsu is easygoing enough to not be competition, but competitive and competent enough that i think haku would eventually come to respect him regardless.
when they get older, i think suigetsu is the one who falls first and initiates, in kind of a shit eating way. haku is too loyal to zabuza, but i think suigetsu could get under his skin in a way haku would learn to tolerate, even if begrudgingly.

Hey, just wanted to say that I love your gifs. I think less is more and I love that you don't overdo the colors/contrast/etc. (I prefer original/natural coloring). It makes your gifs look smooth and they're very calming to look at. Whenever a new series drops, I'm guilty of checking whether you've already made gifs.
Also, love your G-Witch gifs. Have a nice day! 🤍
awww this is so nice of you! thank you so much! i don't really like overly colored gifs either or adding too much saturation and contrast so i try to make all my gifs look easy on the eyes haha i'm so happy u like em! i hope you have a nice day as well <3

This is great info, thank you! I love that it comes up as part of the Aizen autopsy, which makes it feel like it probably is a usual part of a postmortem examination (at least where violent death is concerned), because why wouldn't you check it in all cases, not just weird building kebab cases. Though you'd think this would heighten the sense of alarm they'd feel about who killed him. Everyone stays cool as a cucumber about it! (Minus Hinamori.)
If I'd seen someone's hakusui and saketsu destroyed, and knew that Quincy were skilled targeters of this area, I'd probably assume TYBW was starting then. Or that the Onmitsukidou had gone rogue, but surely no one within the Gotei would be foolish enough to think they could take on the rest of the Gotei, right? No one would do that. Hahaha.
And I 20000% believe Mayuri would move his somewhere more convenient to him. Or heck, just somewhere where enemies wouldn't expect it to be!
[Bleach 092]
As far as I can recall, this saketsu and hakusui business only gets mentioned twice--here, and when Byakuya does it to Ichigo earlier. I feel like doing this must be harder than just killing someone (or at least, it requires more finesse), or else I feel like it would come up more often as a debilitating move en route to making it easier to ultimately kill someone.
Is there a way to do it in a way that's only temporary, like kung fu movie pressure points? I don't remember. (Does the 4th do this, or do they frown upon it because it's like chiropractic to them, and they have less risky ways of doing this stuff?)
Is there a way to damage these things by accident, just in the course of getting generally wrecked? Or would this be a tell-tale thing where the ME would come in and be like, "well, it certainly wasn't an accidental death. And the assailant had to have known what they were doing, because--"
Is defending these points part of standard shinigami training? Was it in the past? Is destroying these things part of regular shinigami training? Or does Byakuya just have a pet interest in perfecting vindictive, pride-destroying moves?
On one hand, maybe that's not part of the curriculum because it's only applicable to shinigami and that's, uh, that's your team. On the other, pretty much every arc boils down to "now we're dealing with the consequences of some fuckin' shinigami doing some fuckin' thing," especially if you include the filler, so it's not like it wouldn't come in handy. The Gotei is truly its own worst enemy lololol. (Is there some reason they couldn't do this to Aizen instead of putting him in Muken? I mean, aside from a desire to stockpile nukes rather than disarm them. Just, you know, in case a genocide comes back to haunt you or something.)
If no one else, the Onmitsukidou probably trains this. Did Yoruichi teach Byakuya? Is this the equivalent of the cool older cousin teaching her younger cousin how to smoke weed?
#i will also never not laugh about the idea that aizen framed hitsugaya for his murder#i know that this info was intended only for hinamori in a state of incredible distress#and was a game/test re: how much he could influence her more than it was a global strategy play#but the whole thing is so far outside of hitsugaya's style and wheelhouse and this hakusui saketsu thing only makes it more so#i feel like post-soul society arc in the process of doing all the paperwork and crossing i's dotting t's some investigator did need to#follow up on this and officially close out the plot thread for the records#hitsugaya: sitting through his 9 depositions about things he either did and shouldn't have done during this arc or things he's alleged to#shinigamiology

This episode brings up yet another problem with TYBW and (Bleach in general).
If this arc functioned on consistent logic with the Soul Society arc:
Hisagi, Omaeda, Isane, Kiyone, Sentaro and Renji should be permanently dead. But for some reason that defies good sense, they're not.
In this universe if Kaien can die to a sword through the heart; a hole blown clean through that entire section of the torso - which happens to contain the saketsu and hakusui - should be instant death. No in that line up should be alive past that episode.
The sole exception to this rule is Ichigo, if only because the plot is so backward written and twisted in on itself to transform him into an abomination of nature and science that defies all logic and rationality.
But it's not their death. Because if there's one thing Bleach is terrified of more than logical and narrative consistency, it's reducing cast bloat.
#anti tybw#anti bleach ending#bleach#tybw#its supposed to be a damned war arc#Why are there next to no causalities?

Quick question?
How many of you believe that Ichigo did in fact die after Byakuya pierced his Saketsu and Hakusui?
#bleach#ichigo kurosaki#byakuya kuchiki#because I do...#it could be a great plot point for any fanfiction#and it could go a bit angsty — Do I refuse to believe Ichigo would actually be mad at Byakuya.#or Ichigo could reveal he'd always suspected that#that — in some way — his human body had never truly felt ''normal'' since the Encroachment#I also found it weird that the encroachment happened while he was in human form???#unless he was indeed a powerless dead soul unaware he was dead

Yhwach's Origin
Yhwach created the Quincies but his own birth is still a mystery.
Yhwach claims to be the son of the Soul King. But he was seemingly born around 1200 years ago in the human world and Soul King was sealed in his crystal the Soul Society.
Also we can't take what he says literally. He considers himself Ichigo's true father calls Isshin a stand-in.
I have a theory that Yhwach is the reincarnation of a member of the the Shihoin Clan.
The three worlds used to be one and in Can't Fear Your Own World it was revealed that splitting life and death was the idea of the ancestors of the five noble clans.
It was the Shihoin Clan ancestor that came up with the reincarnation cycle. "The Shihoin clan’s ancestor believed that an even greater cycle of circulation was needed to progress the stagnant world forward." I think it would be significant and ironic for a Shihoin to put end to that cycle.
I think it will be a twist similar to Hollows being revealed to be fallen human souls.
Yhwach was born without his senses which I think is influenced by the Three Wise Monkeys and the Sanshin. I think this is a clue on how Yhwach got his Quincy powers.
The Sanshin are evil spirits believed to live in people and try to hasten the death of their host. They record the sins of the host to report to the gods so they would be punished. I think this is the inspiration for Yhwach power sharing ability.
The Sanshin are believed to reside in three dantian "energy centers", respectively located within the head, chest, and abdomen. This correlates to the saketsu and hakusui which are located in the chest and abdomen.
I think the third eye of Aizen and the Llyod twins hint at a pressure point existing in the head.
Uryu regained his Quincy powers by being struck with a Heilig Pfeil in the chest.
In the spot where the saketsu or Chain of Fate would be. I think this is a hint on how Yhwach gain his Quincy powers.
The Soul King split the primordial world into the triplet worlds.
He used a sword.
And three arrows to do it. EDIT: I think he pierced his saketsu, hakusui and "third eye" to transform into a Quincy.
The Shihoin Clan are the guardian of heavenly weapons and tools bestowed unto them by the gods/heaven which I take means the Soul King. I think they had the sword and three arrows.
Tools have souls in the name and Fullbringers can boost their power with their own souls. The Soul King in Can't Fear Your Own World was said to have countless abilities like the Fullbringers. I think the Soul King boosted the arrows with his soul.
I think the arrow had spirits in them similar to Shun Shun Rikka.
Orihime's hair clips were compared to Zanpakuto.
I think these spirits were incarnation of the Soul King and will be inspired by the Sanshin.
As opposed to Shinigami Quincy extinguish the souls of Hollows.
It was explained as being out of revenge for the Hollows killing their loved ones.
Mayuri pushed back on the that idea and hypothesized it was because Hollows are deadly to Quincy.
Urahara cosigned this and explained that Quincy had no antibody against Hollows. This makes me think that it being out of resentment is true.
Urahara is not a reliable narrator. He is a fierce defender of the status quo so won't reveal the true reason Quincy seek to kill hollow.
The Shihoin lead the Onmitsukidō who act as scouts against the Hollows. Sui Feng lost all 5 of her brothers so I see that how the would breed resentment against Hollows. Also they assassinate lawbreakers so maybe the Yhwach's past life believed the Shinigami deserved punishment for mutilating the Soul King.
I think it could be why Chika Shihoin joined the Gotei 13, out of a sense of familial obligation to stop the Quincy since they were born from his family.
Old Man Zangetsu looks like Yhwach from a thousand years and interestingly enough Yoruichi met him. It's unclear if Yoruichi knows Ichigo is a Quincy but I think she could bring it up in the anime. I have feeling Urahara knows the truth and that Yoruichi will get it out of him.

i got tagged by @bleachbleachbleach! hello 👁️👁️
5 things you can talk about for hours without preparing any material:
well. obviously an awful lot of aspects of bleach qualify, lmao.
1:
i love digging into the underpinnings of systems like kidou (why do they call out the numbers? are the numbers part of the incantations? are they part of the actual spells themselves? who numbered them? who created them?), zanpakutou (what does it mean that so few shinigami have zanpakutou spirits whose gender is opposite their own? does it signify something in particular? does society in-universe believe it signifies something in particular?), the ins & outs of how Soul Society, the material world and Hueco Mundo connect to each other (is SS superimposed directly over the earth of the human world, like the Wandenreich was hidden "in" SS, or is it in a physically different place? what does it mean that HM is "between" the human world and soul society? why is HM's moon "in the opposite lunar phase" to the human world's??? WHY IS THE MOON BACKWARDS KUBO 😫)
2:
a particular subset of that is trying to figure out how soul biology works. reiryoku is energy that can be utilized by the soul; we know what produces and regulates the energy, the hakusui (soul sleep) and saketsu (chain binding), which exist at physical points in the body, if not as discrete organs. how does reiryoku circulate? is it analogous to Quincies' blut vene/arterie? are there spiritual blood vessels? nerves? meridians? what's with the "reiatsu vents" that were mentioned in relation to 1 (one) singular kidou spell and then never again??? (i'm imagining them like the pinhole punched thru thermos lids - they have a small but very important job, b/c if they're not there, Shit Don't Work Right)
3:
also obviously, my Blorbo Of All Time, Kisuke 💚🤍💚🤍💚 (the rest of this is under a cut b/c i am SUPER DUPER NOT KIDDING about being able to talk for hours lmao)
there are precious few lines in canon that address Kisuke's backstory pre-TBTP arc, and fleshing out how he and Tessai came to be at Shihouin manor is certainly not an unpopular theme in headcanon and fanworks, but i fear i may have taken it to a very OTT level...
like, ok, listen. listen. if he was from rukongai (a common HC), most people there aren't really from rukongai, they're from the human world, right? so where was he from that he was platinum blond in Ghost Japan? obviously the easy answer is that people from all over the world end up in rukongai indiscriminately - but that wasn't as fun as deciding he was the son of Portuguese traders in Nagasaki during the tail end of the Sengoku era, and during the lead-up to the Edo era's isolationist policies, he was killed and subsequently wound up in rukongai. is that extremely convoluted YES, did that deter me in any way NO. i could not, though, find much information on what the Nagasaki dialect may have sounded like in the late 1500s, which i looked into even tho the fic i'm writing will be in English, not Japanese, and CERTAINLY not late medieval Japanese.
(i also looked up what the imperial era names would've been then even tho they're not going to feature in the fic in any way, shape or form. Tenshou, Bunroku and Keichou, btw. this is taking up valuable space in my brain right next to the permanently-memorized-since-2002 lyrics to Hamasaki Ayumi's Dearest)
4:
FINALLY getting out of the worldbuilding and backstory morass into actual canon events(!!) - i could also talk for hours about Kisuke's motivation and reasoning behind early canon's Hougyoku Plot™ (keeping in mind that it's likely just an artifact of kubo's plot swerve at the end of the SS arc, where he'd probably started out intending Kisuke to be a villain in league with Aizen, and the late retcon meant Kisuke's actions no longer made any damn sense.)
anyway, my favorite element of canon here to play with is that most of what we know about it comes from Aizen's dialogue at the end of the SS arc. so what if Aizen wasn't being strictly truthful? even if he wasn't outright lying, he certainly could've spun things to sound much different, much worse, than they really were - and, of course, in ways that would make Kisuke sound terrible if he tried to explain himself and his actions. maybe stashing the hougyoku in Rukia's soul was never meant to be permanent (he invented the only non-fatal method of removing it himself, after all); it was just a way to keep it close to Ichigo, to awaken & evolve his powers, but still concealed. maybe Rukia's gigai was never meant to turn her fully human (he would recognize the name Kuchiki and know she'd be missed were she to disappear); it simply used a similar composition to Isshin's gigai, so that a shinigami soul with a "dose" of human would balance out Ichigo's hollow.
that leaves room for Kisuke to have still been using Rukia and Ichigo like pawns on a chessboard, so it's not like he's totally innocent and absolved of guilt - but it makes him guilty in a way that both 1. patches the plothole and 2. makes Aizen even more petty, spiteful and dickish, which is delightful to me. it also leaves room for Rukia's powers not coming back after she transferred them to Ichigo to be because of the hougyoku's influence instead of gigai tampering - subconsciously, she wanted to stay in the world of the living, and she knew she could only do that while Ichigo was still taking on her shinigami duties. the consequence of a magical wishing stone that grants desires is that it doesn't only grant the desires you consciously voice (which is ALSO delightful to me).
5:
i love finding ways to explain Kisuke's Weirdness. like, sure, maybe he's just a weird person - but with the power of projection on my side, he, too, can be ADHD and maybe autistic! has trouble making eye contact, so he wears his hair in a way that lets him hide his eyes, and starts wearing a hat and using the fan to hide his face even further! Only One Outfit Syndrome isn't just an artifact of the episodic visual medium, it's because he's so particular about the types and cuts of fabric he wears! his favorite food is plain white rice and his dislikes are "too many to list," for heaven's sake! he just like me fr!!!
as a rukongai street rat transplanted into one of the most prominent noble households in all Soul Society, i can only imagine he and Tessai adopted their default polite modes of speech under relative duress - if they were ever found to be out of line, the "proper" nobles (obviously barring Yoruichi, who wouldn't give a fuck) wouldn't hesitate to put them in their place. in Tessai this evolved into pure formality; in Kisuke it evolved into a mild, polite register that he pointedly refused to make any more or less formal - a.k.a. "just polite enough to piss everyone off" lmao.
also on the subject of speech, i found out where Kisuke's "atashi" comes from!! it's shitamachi ("lower city") dialect, the old working-class dialect of Edo/Tokyo. in TBTP he still says "boku," so he picked it up only after he and the Visored came to the human world (Karakura is supposed to be somewhere nearish to Tokyo) and set up the shouten. as far as i can tell, "atashi" is the only aspect of that dialect that Kisuke uses - other more common aspects, like turning the ending vowel sounds of adjectives into -ee or -ii sounds ("urusai" -> "urusee", "warui" -> "warii", etc.), are actually used in Ichigo's speech to make him sound like a delinquent tough-guy shonen protag, lol. how and when "atashi" went from working-class street hawkers' slang to a feminine pronoun used almost exclusively by young girls, i have no fucking idea lmao... (also i have no idea if canon bears this out in their dialect, but the Ishidas are totally yamanote in contrast, right?? high-class, well-to-do, prim and proper, Old Money™, etc etc - they gotta be!)
one more thing and then i'll actually end this post jdfksjdf but! years ago i saw a post from @saranel about why, at the beginning of the arrancar arc, Kisuke talked about the Visored to Isshin as if he didn't know them that well. obviously the most likely explanation is "kubo hadn't finalized their backstory at that point yet" lol, but filling in doylist plotholes with watsonian pavement is part of what makes fandom fun! and her theory (i can't find the post 😭 sorry) was that Kisuke'd had a falling out with the Visored at some point during their exile - probably, given the Visored's initial animosity toward shinigami, regarding Kisuke using the shop to help the shinigami in Karakura. this is SUPER juicy to me, because i can imagine how shinji, hiyori etc. would've taken it as a betrayal, a backstabbing, from one of the few people in their world they thought they could trust - and how kisuke never, ever intended it that way, probably didn't anticipate it could be taken that way at all, he was just trying to help out - everyone involved is walking away from that confrontation emotionally scraped raw and bleeding, and i am LIVING for it 🥰
i don't have a good conclusion here so uhh. if u read this far pls have a gold star for putting up with my rambling ⭐

Considering the fact that you could literally destroy someone's spiritual energy, you'd think more ppl would use this sort of attack. Byakuya and Ishida both severed their opponent's Saketsu chain and Hakusui soul sleep things, effectively destroying their powers and leaving them defenseless
also Ishida and Orihime are so cute in this arc, just look at the cuties
