"If a friend calls out to you late at night from beneath your window Never send him on his way. The plans would see the construction of more than 1,700 new homes for Israeli settlers. There are already around 200,000 Israelis living in illegal settlements in Palestinian East Jerusalem, which Israel annexed in 1967.
"If it weren't for the war (on Gaza), there would be a lot of noise. It's a highly problematic project for the continuity of a Palestinian state between the southern West Bank and east Jerusalem," said Hagit Ofran from the Israeli NGO Peace Now.
The move was condemned by regional states, with Turkey saying that settlements damage efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region.
“It is completely unacceptable that Israel approved a plan to build approximately 1,800 settlements on 186 acres of land in East Jerusalem," Turkey’s foreign ministry said on Wednesday.
...
Egypt also slammed the move as a blatant violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions, urging Israel to halt the construction of illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian land in a foreign ministry statement.

蘿藦[Gagaimo] Metaplexis japonica
It is a perennial creeping plant and grows in sunny areas. The flowers are often purplish in color. In autumn, it produces spindle-shaped fruits about ten centimeters long, and comate seeds emerge from inside the fruit shell, which splits longitudinally.
This name is an ateji, or a Chinese name with a Japanese reading applied to it. In the past, 蘿藦 was written as 羅摩, and these were read as kagami, which is also an ateji. The usual reading for both is rama.
[Kare ookuninushi-no kami, izumo no miho no misaki ni masu toki ni, nami no ho yori, ame no kagami no fune ni norite, himushi no kawa wo utsuhagi ni hagite, kimono ni shite yori kuru kami ari. Kare sono na wo towasuredomo kotaezu. Mata mitomo no kami tachi ni towasuredomo, mina shirazu to mōshiki.]
Now, when (a deity) Ookuninushi-no kami was at Mihonosaki in Izumo(Shimane Prefecture, today), there is a (very small) deity approaching from the white waves on a heavenly boat made of (the fruit shell of) Kagami and wearing clothing made from the stripped skin of a moth. So Ookuninushi asked him his name, but did not respond. And now Ookuninushi asked his attendant deities, but they all said, "I do not know". Israel approves new settlement in occupied East Jerusalem
Israeli authorities have approved the construction of more than 1,700 new homes, a nongovernmental organisation says.
Half the “new neighbourhood comprising 1,738 housing units will be in the city’s annexed east, the Israeli NGO Peace Now said.
“If it weren’t for the [Gaza] war, there would be a lot of noise. It’s a highly problematic project for the continuity of a Palestinian state between the southern West Bank and East Jerusalem,” Peace Now’s Hagit Ofran told the AFP news agency.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday the plan by Israel is to “flood Jerusalem with settlements and settlers” and “separate it from its Palestinian surroundings”.
Israeli settlements in occupied territories are illegal under international law. In 2016, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution condemning Israeli settlement building, saying it has “no legal validity and constitutes a flagrant violation under international law”.

Hagit Chen, the mother of Itay, writes: “This is my son, Itay, who hasn’t been home with us for 89 days, since being abducted on October 7th. I am heartbroken and barely able to breathe. It’s more than just longing for him, although the longings choke me. I am worried. I can’t sleep at night. I collapse from exhaustion and then awaken into the nightmare of 89 days. Today, it is my son. Tomorrow, it can be your son, your father, your grandfather. I cannot wait, Etay cannot wait, none of the captives can wait. The time is up.”

These are the names of just a few of the victims of October 7, those murdered by the horde of Nazi savages from Gaza, or those kidnapped and imprisoned within that moral sewer.
On October 6, all of these people were alive and minding their own business. They were living their own lives. Islamic terrorists from Gaza took that all away from them, leaving a permanent scar on their communities and the entire nation of Israel.
More names will be coming up soon.

Adding something I forgot (kind of briefly mentioned it in the comments but let's elaborate): My issue is not Ze not visiting Israel.
I get that the situation is tense. I get that the situation is complicating. I even get that they maybe don't want him there because they might fear he's getting too much attention. I would even get a complicated security situation (even though it would be much easier to protect Ze if he's coming with the Americans). I get all that.
But giving such an excuse / explanation was just a really badly worded statement. "Time not right" - what is that even suppossed to mean?!
It just leaves a very bitter taste after a really complicated relationship in the past, if you tell the Jewish (!) Ukrainian President (who has or had family and friends in Israel and wanted to study there and visited in the past - I mean, it's not like Ze hasn't any connections with Israel), who's country has to face a genocidial war, it's not the right time to show up for solidarity. Especially with Olena's visit some months ago. So the First Lady, the "decoration" without any political office, is fine but they draw the line at the actual leader? But other state leaders can visit and that's okay again?
It certainly doesn't help that they made the call wit Putin public. Especially, since it gets clearer and clearer that Russia is involved and helped Hamas (as well as supporting Iran).
Like ... tell Ze to not come. That's fine. But since Ze never made his visit public, maybe also keep it private and tell it to him in private. Or, if you want to tell the whole world, maybe say it in a little bit better way, without angering a whole country and snubbing on the President.
I'm sure these too things are a total coincidence and have nooothing to do with each other. 🙄🙄🙄
Btw, Ze wanted to visit together with Blinken.
So ... WTF, ISRAEL?!?!? Really? You not only miss out on such great, awesome opportunity (Ze and Blinken visiting together would have been a hell of a message) ... you also treat Ze like that after everything?!
Yeah, no. That's a bad look. There was no need to say it like that, too. That's just a very, very dumb decision.
#waiting for hagits additions and comments and some more insights into this which for sure is going to be interesting#and most likely also answer some questions and made helps us to understand it better

Israel has approved the building of a major new settlement in occupied East Jerusalem in violation of international law, as it faces accusations of genocide over its indiscriminate war on the besieged Gaza Strip.
The Jerusalem District Planning Committee approved a plan to build a "new Jewish neighbourhood that will be partly located in East Jerusalem", the Times of Israel reported on Tuesday.
'Violation of international law'
The move was condemned by regional states, with Turkey saying that settlements damage efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region.
“It is completely unacceptable that Israel approved a plan to build approximately 1,800 settlements on 186 acres of land in East Jerusalem," Turkey’s foreign ministry said on Wednesday.
It said that the expansion "seriously undermines the prerequisite principles for permanent peace" and accused Israel of "further violating international law".
Egypt also slammed the move as a blatant violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions, urging Israel to halt the construction of illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian land in a foreign ministry statement.
Israel has constructed hundreds of settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention, since the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.
