PERSEPHONE Complete

I was able to finish Draw In My Style challenge Persephone from Olypmus Lore this week.

She isn't quite as pink as I would like her to be but she is still a cinnamon roll 😊.

I will definitely do a more loyal depiction in my style again in the future because I'm a perfectionist 😅.

Persephone is truely an interesting archetype to conceptualize budding womanhood and the pressures of being a "good girl". In this web comic Persephone becomes entangled with Hades after venturing to a party with her gal pal Artemis (whose also her protector of sorts).

In a compact with her mother Demeter, Persephone must fulfill her studies and join a chastened sect among the Goddesses or be brought back to her mother on the mortal realm.

Well, being young and beautiful amongst the most hormone thirsty patheon makes our young Goddess a focus for many of Olypmuses most thotty lords 😂.

She captures the attention of Hades who is just a man tired of dating Beckys who becomes entangled with Persephone after inciting the wrath of Aphrodite by proclaiming Persephone to be more beautiful than her.

Never insult the Goddess of love especially within earshot. Her plans are to have Persephone humiliate herself in the presence of Hades so she has her son Eros abduct her and take her to the underworld to "act a drunken mess" and force Hades to recant his statement.

Kind of a weird move but okay, Karen.

The beauty of Persephone is in her vulnerability and her open desire to understand those around her. She is a giver of life so her personality reflects this as she embodies prefect femininity to her own detriment.

I'm told she becomes more self aware of her power of agency throughout the comic so I wanted to capture that in my version of her with the golden light depicting a growing sense of power. I recalled the way Hercules looked in the Disney animated series so that was the inspiration for this was drawn from.

I think the song Lovely by Billie Ellish compliments the vibe of Hades x Persephone's romantic dynamic.

So enjoy the love vibe this weekend. Either in your own lives of by enjoying it vicariously through art like me.
