[16/200] Hachimanyama Castle Ruins (2020-04-03) Not solo travelling for once! One of my earliest Japanese friends caught the news that I was castle hopping and he happened to be in the neighbourhood so we went for a drive to the next prefecture to visit more castles! We were blessed with great weather, so I hope you enjoy the pictures! I always get a bit nervous when going hiking with others but luckily these ruins were accessible through a ropeway. Surprisingly, on top of Mt. Hachiman, there's no castle in sight; nowadays, the castle has been replaced with Zuiryu-ji, a temple devoted to the Nichiren sect. It does seem like they're desperately trying to lure tourists by having "love power spots" such as 恋人の聖地 (Lover's Sanctuary). Nevertheless, the view from this place is breathtaking. In terms of cultural eye candy, the local Hachiman moat is also very reminiscent of old rural Japanese scenery. Not just the castle, but also the route to the ropeway are worth exploring.
