Roman Palla (Zeussim's Desi Gita Redux)

TSR's latest collection prompted me to finally finish a thing which was sitting in my WIPs' folder for months. I'd been hoping to make some more add-ons for it, but let's face it: I lost my steam halfway through, it's not happening, so the best I can do is to release it as is. Still pretty good, I hope!

As my GBSC playthrough is slowly but steadily approaching the Roman Britain era, I found myself in need for some outfits for my sim ladies. There's a bunch of stuff out there, but rather on the 'what we'd like Romans to have dressed like' side, not necessarily what history tells us about how they really dressed. Tbh I thought it was a hopeless endeavour, but then dear Buzzard directed me towards this amazing post by Zeussim - more specifically, the Desi Gita dress, which with a bit of imagination could work for a Roman palla. So I set off to work and romanised it even further. Big thank you to @buzzardly28 for the tip and to @zeussim for her generous ToU!

The mesh is slightly edited (cutouts on shoulders, adjusted headscarf position to accommodate a wider variety of hairstyles) and recoloured in my Iron Age palette, in two versions: 'silk' (or just any smooth textile, really)* or 'wool' (or anything rather on the coarse side). AND it comes with overlays - for both versions! Which means you can mix and match not only different colours, but different textiles as well. You're a well-off lady who just arrived in Londinum and is now freezing her butt off in the cold northern climate? No worries, put a wool palla over your pretty silk dress! Or you by some miracle managed to get your hands on one piece of silk? Wear it with you wool dress to a party to show off!

Many of the wool swatches, especially in combination with different pale/greenish overlays, work quite well for common folk:

There's also an accessory fibula - pretty and golden (or silver), for the richer ones. Found somewhere on Sketchfab. (That's exactly where I got stuck - I wanted to make a variety of different ones, so that the poorer women would also have something to choose from... Alas).

As always, all packages come in HQ (default) or non-HQ versions (for those of you who want to save some HDD space). Download only one per package!

*OK, I feel like I have to add a little note: my quick research revealed that silk was insanely expensive for the majority of the Roman era. Like, 'only for the emperor and fams' level of expensive. Only at the end it became... emmm... 'cheap' enough to be accessible also to the aristocracy. So just pretend it is whatever the heck you want it to be, not necessarily real silk

over time, you and miguel had.. unexpectedly started to bond more and more, which surprised a lot of spiders. the two of you were both equally closed off, but even then miguel had interacted with more spider people than you had. since your arrival, miguel had been the only spider person you had interacted with due to your mistrust.

most of the spiders had decided to simply not acknowledge your new friendship with miguel..simply because miguel had scared them off for you.

with you and miguel forming a new bond, he started to notice something about you..

while you enjoyed all types of cooking and baking, you never really ate much. miguel had chosen not to acknowledge it because he thought you just had a smaller appetite than most spiders, and he also thought his judgement was just clouded due to the fact that he had to eat more than most spiders did.

maybe your portions just looked small because of his size? he glazed over the thought, but it didn't make much sense, he ignored until..

your eating habits became worse, he had now come to the realization when he decided to treat you to a hamburger and you only ate a couple of fries..days later he noticed that when you had cooked something for the rest of the spiders, you hadn't plated any food for yourself. he felt a heavy pang in his heart, he knew the signs, because he would often neglet his humger needs due to his work.

when he brought up his concern that you were not giving yourself food you simply pulled out your cards, flipping to a card that said "no" and another that said "hungry". (A/N-i refuse to believe that reader would have "not" on their card bc "no" is way more conventional so pls dont come at more for this)

miguel heavily sighed, if course he didn't believe you, he could see the fear and sadness in your eyes. when he saw that look, he knew he had to do something.

a couple days had passed and you had stopped cooking and baking all together. you were simply just sitting on a couch that was placed in the HQ living quarters for everyone to use when suddenly you saw a large figure in your peripheral vision. you instantly knew that it was miguel. (A/N: MANS LITERALLY WEARS HIS SUIT EVERYWHERE OK?😭)

once he was in front of you, you decided to look up to him, furrowing your eyebrows to indicate your confusion. he wore an expression that you still were not used to identifying.

he pinched the brige of his nose, this was going to be harder than he thought, "we have to talk, mijo".

you pulled out your phone, getting your acc app ready incase if you need to respond to whatever he was about to announce. trying to do so calmly, as to not make him worry.

you gave him a nod, as to let him know that you were listening. he moved in order to sit next to you on the couch, his weight making a significant shift on the cushions.

"i need you to look at me alright? you don't even have to give me eye contact" he didn't want to pressure you, because he knew how much stress eye contact gave you at times.

you looked in his direction and tilted your body towards him.

he took another deep breath in and out before saying, "i noticed that you've been.. eating less, i mean, eating less than you usually eat.." he trailed off, he had to think carefully about his next words.

as soon as he said this, you looked away with a pained expression on your face.

he touched your cheek, and you flinched at the movement. "hey, none of that alright? i just want to make sure that everything is fine, mijo. has there been something on your mind recently?" he removed his hand from your cheek, wanting you to be able to fully process everything.

you let out a sigh and clicked one of the words you had preset on your app. "family" the robot voice spoke.

miguel nodded, although he hadn't seen everything that had happened he knew that overall, it wasnt the best situation. there was a pause before the robot voice began to speak again.

"food. bad" miguel's heart broke, and his strong stature had softened. he wanted to hug you, but he wasn't sure if he was overstepping your boundaries.

he carefully thought over his words before speaking, "never let anyone ever tell you that good is bad for you, alright mijo? it gives you strength, and helps you live" he looked right at you, making sure you digested every word he had said. he could see you blinking tears away, but they just continued flowing.

abruptly, you began to hug him. miguel was caught by surprise at this, as you buried your head into his chest. he awkwardly patted you on the back.

"from now on, i'll help you out" he stated. he felt you nod your head in agreement, head still buried in his chest.

from then on miguel made sure to coach you during mealtimes, giving you praise when you started to eat normal portions. (a/n hes channeling his inner sport mom vibes🥰). with miguels help, you started to feel more comfortable treating yourself to small treats, and even eating infront of people without caring what they thought about you.

at this moment you realized that, miguel might be your true family.

Man the relationship between Quackity and Tilin's grave breaks my heart so much. The first time he was there was when he had to make the grave by his own hands after losing his child by the hands of a friend he had absolute faith on someone he helped.

The second time he was there was when he went there to destroy it with his own hands just so that it knocks some sense in him to move on and so that he can gain some control of his life only for him to spiral further and lose it all .

And now he's here, face to face again with the grave of a child who is supposed to be his but he has no recollection of and the only sprinkle of knowledge he has is disbelief mixed with self-lament and criticism for how bad of a father apparently he himself was.

Quackity has been made a witness to extreme truths that have changed the course of his life but he doesn't know of them at all . Atleast this information makes him somewhat less of a stranger to all of this but not before making him pay at the cost of losing everything that now means to be him.

Nova: showering after a tough training, had to fight with the rest of the Guardians. It's purpose was to make sure he can keep control over Flare. At first it was good..but then..Immortal mentioned his mother in a way that made him tick. Almost blasted Monster Girl into a crisp. Letting the water pour down on him.

Rex Splode: "heyy dude..you uh..you doin' okay? That was super fucked up, you almost blew up Monster Girl!" Emerges from one of the showers, towel wrapped around his lower waist.

Nova: "If you came here to state the obvious then leave me alone..Rex.." doesn't even look up, even the cold shower steams around him.

Rex Splode: smirk fades and sighs, goes closer to him. "Look..man, I..kinda understand? I mean I know that your mother is a sensitive-ass topic..and that geriatric hypocrite had no right to mention her that way..but still, you can't just go apeshit like that" looks at Nova. "You have me, Rae, Mark, heck his whole fam and Eve too, dude!"

Nova: his posture eases and sighs, looks at Rex. "Yeah..you right..man, Rex..for sometimes a big jerk..you are the greatest friend I've ever had.." smiles.

Rex Splode: "oh come here you sappy shit!" hugs Nova tightly while grinning like the playful bastard he is.

Nova: "Rex!! Let me go!! Fuck!!" laughing while hugging him back but trying to push him away as if he doesn't want to.

Rex Splode: "Nu-uh man!! You wanted to get sappy! So you get sappy!"

Nova: "Rex!!"

For the rest of 20 minutes the shower is filled with their stupidity and childish antics while laughing.

It's a working from home day, and so he's mainly just sorting out the social media pages for Hidden Gems, putting in stock orders, and checking release dates, as well as coming up with event ideas and possible new drink and snack ideas for Spring. He has a cup of coffee in a Luigi-themed mug close by, and Misty on his lap as he works. He's also got Gamechops' Mario and Chill 2 video playing in the background. dream trip: He's a huge gaming nerd so he would love to visit Japan someday, even if it's just to visit places like The Square Enix cafe (the Pokemon Cafe in Tokyo) or the Pokemon Center in Sunshine City, Ikebukuro. The Nintendo HQ and Nintendo Museum are also two places he'd love to see. He would also love to see the Aurora Borealis in person one day, so somewhere like Iceland is also on the list.

anything your muse wants right now: He just wants Five to clear off more than anything else at the moment, and he's hoping that he'll be helping to achieve that goal sooner rather than later. He also wants answers to what might have changed since a certain near miss (although he will be getting that answer very soon).

favorite personal headcanons: Mainly Russell's Unfazed Everyman status. His sixth sense and newly acquired immortality aside, Russell is a pretty normal guy. But he's now at the stage where he'll meet a supernatural entity or see someone with supernatural powers and while he might be a bit surprised at first, he quickly gets over that because he's just gotten used to all the weird and wonderful things around him. Another is that even though he's a very kind man who tries to avoid most conflict when possible, he will stand up for his friends and fight if he knows it's the right thing to do. I feel this great ask I got sums it up pretty well.

favorite quote of the hour: When it comes to quotes that speak to him and that he tries to follow, Zidane's "You don't need a reason to help people" from Final Fantasy 9 has stayed with him since he was a kid, and it's one his mind tends to go back to a lot.

When it comes to a quote that he himself has said, I like "We, we played you two like, like a kid's, like a kid's first pair of, of crap-crappy cymbals." which he said after he and Willow (from @theotherrookie) tricked a pair of Twin mercenaries into getting themselves beaten in a fight (Russell made them believe it would be a simple job of kidnapping and interrogating him), forced to surrender after Willow curb stomped them, and then captured in this particular post.

i wanted 2 depict some sort of aftercare/aftermath of the fights our stdygrp members get into yknow.. while their accumulated injuries do have real repercussions & affect the plot, which slays, we dont avtually get to see how they deal with them OUTSIDE fights. . like at home or wtv ..

i was js reading szn 2 & gamins using his crutches like a boss in a fight (JSJSVWAAKAKAVSBSB MARRY ME MARRY ME YOON GAMIN) & while they r depicted within fights in v cool ways .. THEY NEED TO SHOW THE SLICE OF LIFE PARTTT

WHERES THE UGLY BLACK & BLUE SORES? ACHES? SHATTERED BLOOD VESSELS N THOSE TINY RED DOTS ALL OVER?? SWELLING?? SCABBING?? THE PICKING AT SAID SCABS?? DULL PAIN THAT THROBS SO HARD U CANT EVEN FALL ASLEEP DUE TO THE COMBINED WHIPLASH?? PSYCH TRAUMA?? ANXIETY?? INSOMNIA?? RIDICULOUSLY HUGE STASH OF ICE PACKS/COLD COMPRESSES?? lol i js had an idea abt how jun uses random frozen poultry in his fams freezer as ice packs 2 put against his fresher wounds instead of actual ice

obvi itll be impossible to draw them all on each character all the time but they shld def hv more permanent trophies of past battles won, yk, not js a freaking hand in a cast & nothing of it after

esp as highschoolers i feel they hv itchier hands than most.. ppl like sehyun wld be terribly uncomfortable & not THAT used to constant injuries like those & effects wld be more visible like hes alw wincing or hissing when sth touches his wounds, things like nausea & lost/changed palate bc of always getting fkin socked in the gut, etc ..

ppl like jiwoo & jun wld hv lots of calluses & rough skin, things like discolouration & lots of peeling n shit .. which wld lead to them needing special care, like applying creams after judo practice (jiwoo) or tons of massage guns & similar contraptions at home always charged up (jun)

AND SCARS, JEEZ.. SCARS ALL OVER. i cant believe jun's cheek js healed without a scar in the YB HQ takeover arc but tbf the guy who gave it to him was so npc so i get it LOL, bro is not worthy.. but they shld all hv insane amts of scars of all kinds, esp jun/sehyun cuz they alw used to get beat up LOL

& what i drew here is real simple of an idea but basc gamin & the more obvi stuff like reopening wounds.. gamin's wounds always reopen in the shower & it pisses him off bc water in open wounds especially suck, bigger the wound the worse, ifykyk.. but i guess his skin almost never breaks? so ? idk LOL

its not THAT integral to the plot/vibe but stdygrp handles so many topics n tropes with such care i feel leaning into the aftercare part wld be really cool 4 them to do too, n the psychological effects of such fights too, like trauma!! where is the ptsd/trauma depictions!!!!! i hv a lot 2 say abt that saur thats 4 another time buut

yea basc its not abt the depiction character design wise but more of plot/SoL wise cuz stdygrp is def more wholesome no matter how many ppl die/shoot pew pewers & they shld def show the aftercare part of constant brawling LOL
