using it in that way does not render it harmless and cute. the LGBTQ+ “panic” defense is still legal in most of the US. LGBTQ+ people ignorantly or naively using the same or similar phrase doesn’t nullify this extremely real legal defense excuse of murder and violence. I’d argue that it covers up and asks that we ignore the very real violence and hatred we face. I am absolutely not comfortable pretending this very real meaning and usage doesn’t exist, historically and contemporarily.

This is similar to my last post but being that you are bi it can mean an extra layer of confusion.

The short answer is you don't owe it to ANY one to explain your sexuality or your relationship/dating life. You like what you like. Period.

Lets be honest. We can all get "a real guy", that is no challenge. ;) but that is not always what are looking for in life or love.

Just like I advised the last anon. Humor, patience and setting boundaries around how they ask questions/get clarification plus time is about the only answer.

Cargo pants and a baseball hat do not a man or woman make. We are physical beings and aesthetics are a part of our attraction.

You can say things like "if you don't get it, you don't get it and that is a you issue". Or "have you met women?" Confusion and curiosity is fine, even expected but hold them accountable to keeping those questions respectable.

I suspect they damn well know why you want a butch and not a man but some people want the argument or things this false logic is some kind of "gotcha" in this world that punishes same sex attraction with degrading language and false myths.

Any friend or even family who continually pushes you can be pushed away and you need to feel no guilt. Tell them to cool it or loose you. You don't even have to cut all contact, just make it clear you don't want to hear their opinions about your attraction or you will step away. There is no reason that your friendships or family relationships should give you more stress than joy

The casual racism and homophobia people display when discussing Squid Game will always make me infuriated.

How is it possible to watch a 7-episode long show and not know the names of any of the characters? Are you so devoid of working brain cells that you can't identify an individual after staring at their face for eight hours in a row?

I think it's especially insane when you take into account that this is the second season of the show. How do you not know Gihun's name? He's the protagonist.

Claiming to only know these characters by their numbers is so crazy to me because I have a really difficult time memorizing their player numbers. I know Gihun's and Inho's but everyone else's is a blank.

Or, even worst, knowing them as their most basic trait - pregnant girl, old woman, trans woman, marine guy...

Hyunju isnt just a trans woman, she is brave and selfless and kind, a leader and a fighter, someone who protects the weakest around her and defends them fiercely. Daeho isnt just an ex marine, hes a man forced into a toxic masculine role by his father, who neverthless display incredible softness in his interactions with others. Geumja isnt just an old woman, she is a kind woman who cares deeply about those around her and would do anything for her son and who shows that you can change and accept others from who they are.

Their names are not difficult to memorize at all, especially if you are watching a show for hours on end.

And mixing up characters from both seasons? Like no, Jungbae wasnt in the game in the first season, that was another man. Neither was Geumja, or Minsu, or literally any other character aside from Gihun.

This definitely isn't my lane because i'm a white woman but it just reinforces the idea that all Asian people, especially East Asian people, look the same when that isn't true. It's just blatant racism and it makes me sick to see it so normalized.

The homophobia is also insane but this is from a different angle because there aren't any opely LGBT+ characters in the show.

Back in season 1, I heavily shipped sangihun, in fact I still do. And the ammount of brain dead morons who were convinced they were brothers is actually insane.

How are they brothers? Because Sangwoo calls Gihun "hyung"? It's a cultural tradition, not a matter of actual familial bonds. In the second season Youngmi calls Hyunju "unnie", but we all know they aren't sisters and it never even comes up (although this is probably about transphobia).

And WHY do people insist that Inho is married? He's widowed. Junho literally visits his wife's grave. I know he says during the game that his wife is alive (sick but alive) but he's lying to get Gihun's sympathy.

I don't understand how its possible that someone can pay so little attention to a show to the point where they don't retain any of the plot points.

Or, even worst, people saying that Gihun and Inho are brothers... HOW??? Are you really so homophobic that you can't see two men being shipped without convincing yourself that they are brothers despite complete lack of canon evidence?

It pisses me off so bad and its so rampant, especially on TikTok, where just proudly announce that they are so brain dead they don't even know the name of the protagonist of the show they are watching.

it's more like, heterosexual masculinity isn't an identity, its a lifestyle you're forced to live and you have to match certain bullet points on a list to be "man enough". the list includes things like not baking, not smelling like fruits or flowers, not being at the mercy of others, etc

She spends the episode accusing her husband of cheating on her (something she's not even sure actually happened) just like how Stolas antis refuse to sympathize with him because he's an adulterer and think he "deserves" to be abused, and ranting that Stolas' erotic novel didn't turn her on, as if that's the only reason queer people should even be allowed to exist, not too different from dudebros who call Chaggie bland because it doesn't make their dicks hard.

On top of that, bad faith critics got pissed off at her inclusion, claiming she was meant to "further Viv's yaoi obsession" and wished I.M.P. followed through with murdering a completely innocent family, even saying it would've been no different from them killing Martha. Apparently they missed the part where Martha and her family were a bunch of satantist cannibals and not only that, Apology Tour revealed she wasn't even straight. The part where Blitzø imagined those guys and their daughters as himself, Stolas, Loona and Octavia also didn't cross their minds or they dismissed it as irrelevant, not knowing it was integral to Blitzø's character development.

how do you feel about straight detransitioners who used to identify as gay when they were trans? many tifs are like that, so I’m surprised that I have never seen a het detransitioner like that in radfem spaces. are they just too embarrassed to admit how homophobic they were while they were trans or are they just less likely to detransition?

I know a bunch of straight and bi detrans women from support groups. I don’t think they’re less likely to detransition, although it can be harder for them in some ways. I think they’re less involved in radical feminism for the same reason straight women in general feel less connected to it.

From what I can see, lots of straight women feel judged by radical feminists for having male partners, and they’re less likely to understand and vibe with separatist ideas. They’re also more likely to be surrounded with other straight people, and so I think they’re less likely to be exposed to radfem discussions in their social circles. Some gravitate towards conservatism and religion as they detransition, instead of feminism.

As for their homophobia I honestly think that it’s just not as bad as TIMs. Sure there are some entitled and narcissistic women who have hurt gay men. But in general, females don’t have the same level of entitlement as males do. Out of the women I’ve talked to, some of them never dated at all when trans, some were fine with dating bisexual men, and most just understood that homosexuality exists and that most men who identify as gay aren’t going to want to date them. Plus, TIFs who are attracted to men have a much bigger dating pool than TIMs who are attracted to women. If there’s nonconsensual stuff happening, it’s still overwhelmingly males assaulting females, even when those females identify as male.

I think in general it’s true what people say - There is a fetishistic aspect for some, but OSA women generally transition because they want to be equal to men and respected in their relationships. Many were victims of SA and misogynistic abuse, and transition tends to be a way of trying to escape that.
