oh my previous reblog reminds me

today during class we did “peer presentations”, aka we were all supposed to collaborate to come up with an impromptu presentation on a certain topic from a list . i promptly decided that we were going to be doing the topic “repressed memories and memory reconstruction controversy” and after going on a rant for a solid 5 minutes about the topic and then deciding to go on a 5 minute rant about the other topics for fun the group went with my decision to just let me do all of the talking

we went up first and i decided to walk to the front of the class and i did an impromptu presentation with zero research beforehand, all memory presentation off the top of my head about repressed memories and therapy and past life therapy/hypnotism just creating false “repressed” memories and i went on for a solid ten minutes and when i finished i got a FULL round of applause

and then the next group was a white girl group and they had the topic of false memories and they proceeded to, i’m not shitting you, use a colleen hoover book as their example of creating false memories by managing to misuse the term gaslighting and false memories somehow and i really just wanted to go insane after that
