ANXIETY

Jace is the kinda guy to do the anxiety / breathing exercises regardless of anyone else in the room or what he's doing.

In that moment, nothing and no one matters except for you.

"Okay love, tell me four things you can see. Now three things you can hear. Two things you can feel? How about one thing you can smell."

Or he'll take your hand and trace his finger up each digit, "Breathe in, at the same speed as m'finger." As he's tracing down, "now breathe out. Remember, same speed."

Once you're a little calm, he'll make sure to do whatever comforts you, be it touch, words of affirmation, or some space.

He refuses to let anyone else be around you in this state, he doesn't want someone to set you off. He doesn't care whether they mean well or not, he values your wellbeing much more.

Def is an emotional support being.

This man will do research just to help.

Separation anxiety - he'll gift you something random.

Anxiety bc he puts himself in danger - bro will literally be cocky and not even realize he's not helping.

Pure anxiety in general - he turns into a little nerd.

All in all, Jace is a loving boyfriend who strives to help in whatever way he can.

FEAR

So when you're afraid, Jace knows. He just knows.

He'll try to find the threat/reason behind it before he talks to you about it, but regardless, he knows he'll have to ask you directly.

Whether he gets it right or not, he asks what the problem is and makes sure to deal with it if possible.

The rest of the day, he makes sure to have you in his arms or within arms reach.

So many fucking cuddles.

He turns even more protective somehow

He definitely tries to tell you funny stories to get your mind off the scary things.

"I'll protect you with my life"

Gifts you a weapon to carry at all times.

He goes out of his way to make sure that you're only with familiar people, never strangers.

If someone makes fun of you for being afraid, Jace gives them the death glare and makes sure they know he has it out for them.

He'll reassure you and tell you that he's there.

I KNOW he 1000% always mentions that he's there to protect you.

Last year for Halloween I dressed up as a Shadowhunter, but I was upset because no one recognized my costume. So I thought about Spencer Reid overhearing Reader explaining their costume to the others and noticing how she's a bit upset about that. So he makes as much research as he can before he goes to Reader to talk about their costume and how perfect it is for Halloween, even if at first not everyone would notice that

You know, it was a big mistake to come to the Bau's Halloween party dressed like that, the minute you step a foot into the room.

You greet almost everybody you know there and their confused faces tell you everything you need to know.

You look stupid.

You didn't realise, when you were picking out your costume, that it's not very popular, like at all. None of your colleagues recognise it, not even when you try to explain it.

Honestly, it breaks your heart a bit. Because you've spent quite some time finding things for it and then making it. So yeah, it hurts, that nobody has a clue what you're dressed as.

And the disappointment definitely shows on you. The initial radiating smile is reduced to a small, forced smile just for the sake of being 'happy' at a party.

And Spencer, one of your better friends from work, notices your mood change. The sad scowl would be kind of hard to miss.

He doesn't like seeing you upset like that and also he thinks you look really great in the costume. So he tries to inconspicuously listen to your conversation with someone to find out what your costume is.

He eventually hears you explain it and when he does, he takes his phone out of his pocket and types in the name.

He reads as much as he can find and as quickly as he can, the reading part is obviously no problem for him. It takes him only 10 minutes to learn everything he needs to talk to you about your costume.

He walks over to you, " hi, I love your costume. You look incredible. How did you manage to make it so identical?"

Your eyes go a little wider at his words at first, but then your whole face lights up.

"Y-you...you recognise it?" you ask sheepishly. You would never thing, not even in your wildest dreams, that Spencer could know what you were dressed as.

"Of course, of course I know. How could I not? You are obviously...." he says the name of your character and impossibly, your smile grows even bigger.

"I-I love your costume, too. You look awesome," he's dressed as a well-known scientist and he rocks it. No everybody could pull the white, messy hair, but he manages it perfectly.

His cheeks go a bit pink at your compliment," Thank you, Penelope helped me choose it, because I couldn't decide, which scientist should I go as from all of the greatest thinkers of the world."

"Well, she choose well," you smile at him, truly smile at him. It feels like it's your first true smile at this party.

Spencer smiles back at you and opens his mouth to say something, but hesitates.

"Yes?" You encourage him with a soft smile.

"Do you want to go get a drink with me?" he gestures at the bar behind him, eyes hopeful. He's been trying to get the courage to ask you out for a drink and this seems like a perfect opportunity.

"Dr. Reid are you trying to get me drunk?" you tease him cheekily.

His eyes go very wide," of course not, I would never. I just...-" he starts, freaked out. But when he sees you  smile, he relaxes," oh, you were kidding."

"Yes, Spencer. I'm sorry," you bite your lip to stop yourself from laughing," I'd love to get a drink with you, though."

"Really?" Spencer asks.

"Yeah, c'mon," you take his hand in yours and start dragging him towards the bar, already asking him questions about how he knows the TV series/ film your costume is from.

WIP Introduction!:

Artemys Raine was prepared for many things. She had fireproof boots, enchanted blades and an extended magical backpack full of enough supplies to last her a month in the apocalypse. She wasn’t, however, prepared for the most feared and loathed Shadowhunter to come back from the dead, summon a demon, and kill her only ally in the city.

Catarina Loss was also prepared for many things. She had bandages in her pockets, antiseptics up her sleeves and a body-full of healing magic to use. She wasn’t, however, prepared to find a nearly-dead Warlock child in the middle of the street, bleeding out profusely.

As any half-decent person would, she took the girl home and healed her, but Catarina’s a working Warlock - she can’t put her life on hold to care for a child.

Which is how Magnus Bane, who is prepared for maybe eight situations total, and none of this, finds himself baby-sitting a precocious Warlock child in addition to the horde of Shadowhunters who seem to use his loft as a holiday home.

He really should get paid for this.

Artemys is one of my favourite OCs currently, she's an extremely mature Warlock child, with slightly screwed morals from her unusual upbringing (cough cough definitely not a cult-), with a rather cold outlook on anyone she doesn't consider useful or precious to her. She spent over a year with Elias (her Warlock ally who we briefly meet canonically at the start of CoA), and moved on from his death like it was nothing.

She is very cunning, very manipulative - definitely an anti-hero with her motives and methods - and has very little remorse about using magic to persuade people, although her end goals align with the heroes of the story, it's mostly because letting the villains win would be very bad for her health and wellbeing.

She will end up quite attached to several characters by the end of the series (the fic starts at the start of City of Ash, and has plans to run all the way through into The Dark Artifices) and does ultimately end up changing for the better (c'mon, she's eight, she deserves some character development and maybe a stable family life), but this is a slow process, even if on the surface she appears mostly normal if only slightly odd. (She vibes hard with Sebastian, to give you a perspective on what she's like at at the start of the series, she would happily join with him if he wasn't gonna, ya know, destroy the world).

I love her dearly, but she has issues.

And why won't she tell people her Warlock Mark? (And why does everyone who knows Magnus feel the oddest sense of deja vu when they see them together?)

I wouldn't even say they have common ancestor because Kit isn't a direct descendant of Will and Tessa. He's from the Tobias Herondale/Ephraim Loss line. He has more of a familial connection to Catarina Loss than any of the modern Shadowhunters.

Omg he really is Will Herondale's descendant.

So I re-watched The City of Bones after reading TID and it was a pretty nice experience since I now understand the Shadowhunters world a bit better after TID. I admit the pacing sucked and was downright cringey, but it still works for me even after 8 years! Although I have to say the main reason I still liked it is because of Lily and Jamie's chemistry. I think the movie franchise had so much potential and I'm still bitter up to this day that it got cancelled. I know I have no right in saying this since I never read TMI and have no plans to since the movie franchise is no more, but c'mon the movie is still the superior one compared to the show.

She had a habit of intertwining her fingers in Helen's hair while sleeping. They had been married and on their travel year after the Wrangle island. Aline woke up with a jolt, it scared her everytime Helen wasn't around, she walked out of the room looking around for her wife.

She saw a slender figure in the balcony looking at the moon. Her blonde hair flowing with the wind, she was lost in her thoughts. Her blue green eyes were weary and sleep deprived. Aline hadn't realised that she had been keeping herself drowned in work she never wondered why. Aline walked up to her and placed her hand on Helen's. Helen looked down and smiled, "Can't sleep without me huh?" Aline tucked her hair behind her pointy ears and placed her hand on her cheek, "How can I sleep when you're standing here like a faerie ghost, girl it's 3 fucking am. What's wrong?" Aline asked.

Helen laughed, Aline always thought her laugh was pleasant like the sound of wind chimes. "Why do you always know how to make me laugh" Helen said . "There's a reason I call you my 'fae-bae'. Now c'mon tell me what's wrong?" Aline asked putting her arm around her.

Helen's face lowered and her smile disappeared, "I miss them, Jules, Ty, Tavvy, Dru, Mark , Emma and Liv-" Helen moved away from Aline. "We can call them, or send a fire message for now. We'll be returning to them in just few weeks, they're fine don't worry. Of course if we call them right now they'll go crazy but your choice." Aline said placing her chin on Helen's shoulder.

"Yeah...." Helen said looking at the stars, "but Livvy won't be there. I couldn't save her...." A tear trickled down her cheek "Ave atque vale, Livia Blackthorn" Aline hugged her, they just stood there in silence the only sound heard was their breaths and heart beats.

"Do you remember what Mark used to do when he missed you guys at the Wild Hunt? Let's do that." Aline said picking the white flowers from the climber along the wall. "That naming stars thing? Yeah I do remember" Helen said and sat on the floor. "I must tell you it's pretty cold but we've seen worse." Aline said sitting down and moving her hair through Helen's hair, they were soft and slipped easily through her fingers. Carefully she braided her hair adorning her hair with the flowers she picked.

Helen pointed at the stars "look that's Mark, twinkling a lot, he can't stay steady. There's our small Tavvy right beside Mark 'cause he'd never leave his side. Then there's Ty a little distant from others but not too far. Look at those two above there, they're Emma and Jules, shining brightly raising the kidsas their own. Look there's Livvy watching over us all." Helen looked down and smiled, "did you just- wow my hair!" Helen squealed.

"it matches your t-shirt," Aline said placing a flower crown over her head saying, "and then there's the two of us forever together, never apart" Aline cupped her face and kissed her softly. Helen placed her head on Aline's shoulder and slowly drifted to sleep. Aline looked down smiling looking at her face, so peaceful just like the cold wind blowing the wind chime.
