🔴BREAKING NEWS: France is conducting elections! And Emmanuel Macron might lose!! 🤔 What happened?

🔹 France’s far-right National Rally (RN) party, led by Marine Le Pen, has emerged victorious in the first round of France’s snap legislative elections.

🔹 The National Rally secured 34% of the votes, while the New Popular Front Coalition followed closely with 29%. President Macron’s centrist alliance trailed behind with about 21% of the votes.

🔹 Should the RN party achieve a majority, Macron’s current Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, will be succeeded by RN leader Jordan Bardella!

🧐 Why?

🔸 These elections will not affect Emmanuel Macron’s position as President, which he will hold until May 2027.

🔸 According to French electoral processes, the party with a majority in the French Parliament determines the Prime Minister.

🔸 If the PM and President are from different parties, they are forced into political 'cohabitation,' significantly weakening presidential powers (except for military authority).

🔸 The RN party is anticipated to have won due to French citizens' frustration over surging inflation, increased crime, and other policies by Macron’s government.

😲Interestingly:

▪ Emmanuel Macron had willingly dissolved the lower house of Parliament earlier this month!

▪ His party was utterly defeated by the RN in the latest European Elections and President Macron called for snap elections, a move that has clearly backfired!
