Only to pull up any season 7 episode transcript and instantly close it like, "I could smash the keyboard with my face and write better dialouge then this. Nevermind."

MCR´s The Black Parade: Just a sad song, with nothig to say (?)

My Chemical Romance´s 2006 album, The Black Parade, is for me one of the best albums of all the 2000´s and one of the best conceptual albums of all times. Story a little tangled but so well written once you solve it. 

What do I mean by tangled? The thing is, a lot of people, including me, thought the songs in the album were already in chronological order, but it isnt. How do you know whats the order then? By the intro. In this albums theres two characters, The Patient, who´s dying of cancer, and The Parader, who´s a lost soul in charge of guiding other souls to the afterlife. Every song that starts with a more acustic sound, like acustic guitars or pianos, are songs from The Patient, and the songs with a more heavy and metal intro, are from The Parader. Every song that The Patient sings is backed up by one of The Parader´s in a form of response, however The Patient not necessarily can hear The Parader nor understand him.

By the way, a lot of this intepretation is from American youtuber Wendigoon, with who I managed to finally understand the album and I just wanna share this incredible story. But do to not wanting to make this post so long, i will give a summary with a link of the original video for whoever wants to see the whole story.

In this act we get an introduction two our main characters on The End and Dead! respectively, where we learn that The Parader doesnt care about The Patients death, as well we learn a little of The Patients past on Teenagers, where we see he was a jerk who didnt care for anyone except him. On The Sharpest Lives, The Parader critics this form of living of The Patient and cares a lot less about him dying and even thinks he deserves it. Finally on Cancer, The Patient get a bucket of cold water and starts thinking about his situation.

On the conflict of the album, first we hear The Parader mocking Cancer, as he talks about that doesnt matter his dying all sad and melancholic, because his actions led to this outcome, he talks about Judgment. Then The Patient talks about how he pushed his lover away from him, cause he didnt want them to see him in their current state, that´s I Dont Love You. The Parader starts mocking the same way as always but in the end of This is How I Dissapear, we hear them screaming asThe Patient´s story starts to get to him. On Disenchanted The Patient is straight up accepting death in a depressive way. He accept his life wasnt great, he wasnt no martyr and its just what he gets. On Mama we can see The Parader´s backstory. Here we found out he was a soldier on WWI. He says he wastn a good boy neither, and he died all alone, thinking about this mother, with the rest of the soldiers. Now we understand why The Patient dying alone started to get to him, a lot more if we see both characters as rather young people, like 18 or 20 years old.

Welcome to The Black Parade

The Patient on Sleep is getting every time much closer  to resolution. He is ready to just die, understanding he wasnt a good person and he doesnt desevres salvation, but rather damnnation, BUT and the end of the song, while The Patient stars "going to sleep" we can hear The Parader throwing a heartbreaking scream telling The Patient to "Wake up". On Famous Last Word we can understand as The Patient is on his last breath as he and The Parader starts gettin into an argumente about what The Patient deservers. The Parader, now more simpathetic for The Patient says he deserves peace, that he isnt that bad of a person, and makes The Patient reevaluate his life. On the final track Welcome to the Black Parade, we here The Patient starting to sing, being followed by The Parader who re-sings his verses. Here he is not singing about The Patient and mocking him, instead he sings WITH HIM. Singing their chorus as The Patient marches to the afterlife.
