Japan U-20 National Team
Starting Players
ITOSHI SAE
A player who has garnered worldwide attention, even being selected as one of the “New Generation World 11.” It’s rumoured that he hasn’t participated in Japan’s national team activities because he had already dismissed Japanese football, given his exceptional and overwhelming skill. However, he has recently shown an interest in “Blue Lock” and participated in an exhibition match.
OLIVER AIKU
The Japanese U-20 national team is referred to as the “Diamond Generation” largely thanks to his impenetrable defensive skills. As a centre-back, he not only applies pressure across the entire pitch but also, in moments of critical danger, shuts down strikers with a free-form approach that defies conventional logic.
SENDOU SHUTO
The ace of Japan’s U-20 national team, playing as centre-forward.
Despite his youth, he is already a regular forward in Japan’s top domestic league, enjoying both high recognition and exceptional skill. In a team focused on defence, he stands out as the top scorer, earning strong trust from his teammates.
CHOU KENTO
A left winger who excels at using his height to his advantage. His reliable playstyle aligns perfectly with the team’s strategy of solid defence and swift counterattacks. In particular, during counter plays, he demonstrates outstanding coordination with the right winger, Kitsunezato, becoming a key source of goals for Japan’s U-20 national team.
KITSUNEZATO TERU
A nimble right winger. Unlike Chou on the opposite side, he plays a distinct role, with his runs behind the defence posing a serious threat to opposing teams. Without holding onto the ball for too long, he keeps the play moving forward with a quick passing tempo, making him an indispensable “lubricant” in Japan’s U-20 team.
WAKATSUKI TATSUKI
The defensive midfielder for Japan’s U-20 national team. His intense, watchful playstyle is symbolised by the dark circles under his eyes, as he constantly scrutinises the opposition’s movements. When the opponents alter their attacking approach, he’s the first to notice and sound the alarm for the entire team, serving as their primary “sensor.”
HAYATE HARU
A defensive midfielder known for his height, which he uses effectively to intercept the starting points of the opposition’s attacks. Avoiding high-risk moves, he focuses on stalling the play when possession is lost, giving the defence time to reorganise. He plays a crucial role in controlling the pace of the game.
DARAI MIROKU
The left-back for Japan’s U-20 national team. He sports body paint on his head and arms that resembles tattoos. Skilled at reading the opponent’s moves in advance and shutting them down, he doesn’t fall for the same attacking pattern twice. When his team is on the offensive, he slips behind the opposition’s defence.
NIOU KAZUMA
A centre-back for Japan’s U-20 national team. Known for his rough, physical style of defence, he overwhelms the opposing attack. In particular, he displays an exceptional strength in ball duels, unusual for a Japanese player, and his signature move, the “Doberman Charge,” repels offensive plays with force.
NERU TEPPEI
The right-back for Japan’s U-20 national team. His agility is among the best in the team, with impressive acceleration that allows him to reach top speed almost instantly. He covers the entire pitch, from the backline to the front, playing a crucial role in both attack and defence, serving as the unsung workhorse of the team.
FUKAKU GEN
The goalkeeper for Japan’s U-20 national team. As the final barrier in a team built on strong back-line play and swift counterattacks, his greatest strength is his reliable decision-making. He shares a strong foundation of trust with centre-back Aiku When moving to the offensive, he initiates counterattacks with pinpoint long passes.
SHIDOU RYUSEI
A striker recruited from “Blue Lock” to join Japan’s U-20 national team, specialising in ultra-attacking play. His goal-scoring instincts within the penalty area are sharper than anyone else’s, and he possesses astonishing physical ability, able to shoot from any position. As an outlier among the otherwise pure-hearted team, he has the potential to spark unknown chemical reactions.

Random Headcanon of the day
I hc Nagi Seishiro and Hayate haru as cousins.
So Haru is Seishiro's cousin by his mother side. In saying Haru is Nagi's aunt son.
(Yeah I also headcanon that nagi has an aunt, that lives in a diffrent city)
They have diffrent middle names bcs Seishiro got his middle name form his dad. His mom original middle name is Hayate.
Now on the relationship between them:
They have a two year difference (Nagi 17 and Haru 19 (this is only hc Harus age is unknow) )
• when Nagi was younger, something between 4 to 10 years old. He used a lot of times to stay at his aunt house. His parents droped his often when they had to travel somewhere. So in younger times Seishiro and Haru were hanging out together a lot. They were ether playing video games together or Seishiro watching Haru play football. At that time he only liked watching and was never thinking of himself palying football or a sport he was thinking how much of a pain it is.
(But yk now that changed in the future)
• Before Nagi befriended Reo. Like from 12 to 16. Haru was also sometimes visiting Nagi's house to check on him. When he was there they like talking for hours about manga and games news or also playing Nagi's video games. Haru was like his only friend before Reo.
[Adding more bcs we got more info on Haru]
• Since now, it's known Haru likes plants, I'll also say that Haru would info dump Nagi about plants, and he would probably listen while he is playing games
• Haru did tell Nagi that he was in the u20 but Nagi didn't bother to think much of it at that time.
• They stoped talking for a while more bcs now Nagi was with Reo and at Blue lock. And Haru was practceing for U20.
• when They meet eachother at the U20 match. Haru was so shocked when he seen Nagi was playing agains him. He would have never think that his cousin Nagi Seishiro got into Football but he was happy that he finaly got to play with Nagi. But Nagi at first didn't sems to notice Haru was there.
• At the end of the match. When Reo wasn't around Haru comes to Nagi and telling him how great of a match was it to have with him. Nagi hears his voice and he responds with "thanks it was fun to play with you too Haru-nii".
• In the two weeks off. Haru pays Nagi a visit again after such a long time not seeing eachother but when he got there Reo was at his house already. Now Reo and Haru start knowing more about one another. After they got to know eachother haru thanks Reo for takeing care of Nagi and being his friend when he was not around.
•Haru also started telling Reo embarrassing moments about Nagi when he was younger, Nagi was geting angry at him while Reo was laughing at the things he did.
• On the same day Haru challanges Nagi on a 1vs1. After many tryings Nagi finaly agrees to play with him. It endend on a 02:02, bcs Nagi was starting to get bored. Also Reo was watching them play.
•In the present arc (chapters 154-212) they still talk with eachother on the phone and talk about their matches and other things.
Okay thats it.
( totaly not the only reason I made them cousins is bcs they both have white hair and brown eyes, hope when s2 come they won't change Hayate Haru's colors bcs then this hc wil be ruinded)
[!One year later update well Hayate Haru's official color is blond, but it still works, so I'll still keep this headcanon!]

Blue Lock Episode 30 Review - Thieves Vs Policemen
Want to know something crazy? Since there are 14 episodes for this season and this is the 6th episode already, it means that we’re almost halfway through the season! Mind-blowing, isn’t it? We’re finally at the main focus for the season, the U-20 match.
This is mainly a buildup episode. It’s a buildup for showing the nation what sort of program Blue Lock is for potential high school soccer stars and it’s also a test to see if Ego was correct in creating this soccer program for the benefit of Japanese soccer. I liked seeing the little snippets of the daily lives of the players before the big match. Everyone is different so they all prepare in different ways. What amazed me the most was the amount of people who showed up for the big match. It lets me know how much of a big deal soccer is in Japan. Since Blue Lock is still so obscure, nobody really came for them other than their family and mostly came for the U-20 stars. It seems that the most popular are Aiku, Sendou and Sae.
There’s also some spotlight on the U-20 team, mostly on Aiku, though. He’s the captain of the team, but just because Sae is one of the biggest teen soccer stars doesn’t mean he’ll let him do whatever he wants. This means that Shidou is not included in the starting lineup because he wants to win without him and that he believes in his team. When playing, Aiku is actually a very formidable foe because he’s a defender opposed to Blue Lock’s striker. The analogy of cops vs robbers feels very synonymous. Oh, speaking of which, I learned that Oliver is his surname and Aiku is actually his given name. This makes sense since Japan does the eastern naming order, yet it’s confusing because Oliver is mostly used as a first name and not a surname.
The soccer playing is mostly shown towards the end with Rin, Isagi and Nagi taking the lead with the offense. Bachira also gets some shine too. Of the U-20, some players do get some spotlight, like Haru Hayate, but it seems that they’ll be more utilized in the next episode. I honestly can’t wait to see Sae and Rin facing off. I do wonder what caused the beef between them because the brothers’ childhood memories showed that they got along pretty well. What could’ve caused the rift between them?
What’s crazy is that not only do the U-20 got their fair share of known voice actors, but Rin, Sae and Aiku’s child selves all have well-known voice actors too! Since I talked about Aiku and Sendou in the previous episode, let’s talk about Hayate, the one with the blond spiky hair. He’s voiced by Kensho Ono. If you’re not familiar with him, he’s the voice actor for Kuroko from Kuroko’s Basketball. It’s crazy to see him in another big sports anime. For the childhood voice actors, Rin is voiced by Yuka Terasaki, who voices Roy from Pokemon Horizons; Sae is voiced by Yuko Sanpei who you may know as Chizuru Yoshida from Kimi Ni Todoke and Boruto Uzumaki from his namesake show. That’s pretty crazy how much budget they spend on big voice actors. Then, Aiku’s childhood voice actor is Natsumi Fujiwara, who is known for voicing Damian Desmond from Spy x Family. Is the production really spending more on voice actors than on animation? Not only that, the sports commentators also got some big names. The younger man is voiced by Daisuke Sakaguchi and the older one, Natsuki, is voiced by Wataru Takagi. I’m seriously convinced they’re spending their budget on voice actors…
The additional time was seriously cute! I feel like the animal comparison was popular that they brought it back. This time, the YukkiNagi duo compare some of the U-20 players to animals. Why is Sendou the only one with a more human-like appearance compared to the other animals? Also, poor Darai, he got compared to an object. At least Rin knows your pain. Speaking of which, Rin joins in again and compares Sae to a mosquito as Nagi hates them. As Nagi decides to plot against Sae, Yukimiya tells them to stop playing this game. Haha. These three are seriously a combo I never expect would be hilarious together. I’d like this to continue to see which animals other players would be compared to.
Anyways, what do you think of the episode so far? Who’s going to win? What’s going to happen?

Got Hayate pretty much ready to color. I’m gonna work out where exactly the edges of the bookmark will be first and also maybe add a couple wrinkles at the sides of the suit—the ones at the shoulders I’m 99% sure are gonna end up completely outside the frame (it doesn’t quite extend as far as the outside edge of his breast pocket), and I think I may have drawn them a bit too far out anyways.
But Mima…
I’d hoped to have both of them fully inked today, but I can’t freaking get the other side of his hair!!
#i hate his hair so fucking much oh my god#i mean yes it's pretty and i wanna run my hands through it (or have hayate or haru do it for me)#but it's a nightmare to draw#and yes i did give him one extra mole since yesterday (beneath his lip)#i have to restrain myself from giving him more#i gotta write a fic one of these days where hayate kisses all of his moles#cdd#ichikura hayate#mima takayuki#13#ebw.op#wip
