I wrote this post yesterday morning but didn't post it or whatever and it didn't save so I had to rewrite it, anyway what if Minecraft gun mod (even though you're not meant to make those) but it's has Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades-esque amounts of obscure weaponry and realistically-BS balance.
You can craft a Tankgewehr-style anti-tank rifle, and it one-shots a Warden, but it takes like half a minute to reload it and by the time you do there's another Warden closing in on your location because a Sculk Sensor was activated by the ridiculously loud firing sound. Running around with a Desert Eagle may sound cool, but you have to hold down the right-click for just the right amount of time before it can fire, and you will notice this, and it will cause you to die at least once because you tried spam-firing into a crowd of hostile mobs. You find a cool rocket-launcher, only to discover that it's a single-use disposable one after trying (and failing) to use it to stop an Illager raid. Also hostile mobs can rarely spawn with guns, and they don't need to reload every few shots. You almost die trying to escape from a Zombie that spawned holding an M1 Bazooka.
Also there are weapon mods that can be applied at either Smithing Tables or maybe a new "table"-type block (stocks for pistols, silencers and muzzle-brakes for most single-barrel weapons, scopes for basically everything). And new enchantments (e.g Double-Clip, which makes all weapons that use clips and magazines fire double times the amount they normally would, e.g a gun with a 10-round magazine would be able to fire 20 times, also it only has one level) and curses (e.g Jamming, which makes it that a weapon will sometimes not fire when it's supposed to, with the chance increasing by 10% with each level of the curse, up to 50% at level 4).
Give me money and a dev team and I could get this out in like a month to a year depending on the size of a dev team. Also don't give me a dev team because I'd probably be a nightmare to work for.

tiny team (Rust Ltd is 4 people as far as i can tell) game that's been receiving weekly devlogs and substantial updates for years. It won't make it because vr is niche, but nobody deserves it more.

I have *wasted* over three thousand hours of my one and only life on War Thunder, even if I assume half of that time is me leaving it logged in whilst doing something else, that is far too much time. It's not even a particularly good game, it just has a monopoly on a niche experience I really like.
As for a game I would actually still recommend after putting more than 300hrs into it: Hotdogs Horseshoes & Hand Grenades. Everyone (that can afford a VR headset and does not experience excessive motion sickness) should spend a few hours a day using obsessively simulated firearms to shoot talking hotdogs, it's great stress relief.
saw a poll on here where one of the categories was “I have over 300 hours in a single video game” and people were picking it and saying “I have way more than 300 hours!!” but they were all talking about games like ffxiv or overwatch where there’s a prolonged play element. that’s just not impressive to me. you’re SUPPOSED to have 300 hours in those games. what game do you have over 300 hours in that you absolutely should not be able to have 300 hours in? mine is the ace attorney trilogy

Minecraft gun mod, but it's designed for use in VR and every weapon has H3VR* levels of realism.
*Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades; it's a pretty fun VR game with stupidly in-depth firearms (both real and fictional, like it has an official TF2 crossover gamemode that comes with a bunch of fully-functional recreations of TF2's iconic weapons plus some original ones).

Hey so like, I wonder if TF2 Tumblr people know about the Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades "Meat Fortress" crossover's unique weapons?
Basically there's this really in-depth VR gun simulator and it had an official TF2 crossover a while ago that's still getting new stuff added for it, and along with the default TF2 weapons (plus beta-inspired grenades with some original ones thrown in, and alternate ammo types for most weapon types, none of which I will be covering in this post for image-limit reasons) it also has a bunch of custom weapons made specifically for it!
Also yes, as you'd expect, they feel kinda weird to use compared to the more realistic options the game is based around.
Images and details below (both of which are from the wiki, since taking decent screenshots in VR is painful and also I don't remember everything about them because there's like 20).
(Please note that I'm using the wiki's classifications for what class each weapon belongs to; some of the "All Class" ones do seem to fit with specific classes, but they aren't counted as such. Sorry. Also the wiki is a Fandom one. Again, sorry.)

For context, Hotdogs, Horseshoes, & Handgrenades (H3VR for short), is a VR weapon simulator game developed by RUST LTD. Their main programmer, Anton Hand, tried to port this weapon into the game, but the ballistics from this round were so bonkers, UNITY COULD NOT RUN IT.
Wait till you hear about this.
And so the .950 JDJ Fat Mac was scrapped.
The Provably Worst Gun for Home Defense
What is provably the WORST gun for home defense? A .22 single shot rifle is at least small and quick to point. A Barrett M82 is at least going to instantly stop whatever it hits. Even a good old fashioned musket is going to do good damage and won't hurt your ears. No, I wanted to know what the undisputable worst home defense gun in the world is; and I have found it.

This is the .950 JDJ Fat Mac. It is a 100 pound, 5 foot long rifle that shoots a one pound solid brass bullet at 2200 FPS. It is a non-NFA item only because the ATF gave it a sporting exemption as a joke as if anybody is going to hunt with this. This round would be overkill for hunting blue whales.
I would like to paint a picture for you. It's 2AM and you hear a window break in your living room. This is the worst day this could happen, as every single one of your guns was lost in a tragic boating accident this morning. All were lost except for one. You look across your room in dread at your anti-kaiju rifle. You know what you have to do, but you don't know if you have the strength to do it, both literally and figuratively.
Heaving the rifle into your arms, you load a .950 cartridge and begin to waddle towards the door. Your feet make a loud "thud" as you take each 6" step. You know the intruders hear you. You hope they do, for perhaps they will run and spare the world the suffering that is about to befall it.
You try to set the rifle down, but end up clipping your bedroom door and it is immediately knocked off its hinges by this battering ram in your hands. You attempt to round the corner, bonking the muzzle against the doorframe and adjacent wall across the hall at least 4 times.
To your horror, two invaders stand there at the end of the hall.
With a heavy heart, you raise the rifle to your shoulder while making inhuman grunting noises from the strain of attempting some semblance of a shooting position. The burglars simply stare in disbelief, unable to process the situation they are witnessing, as if in a dream.
You cannot aim the rifle, as the last time you fired the gun, it turned your $3000 Leopuld into a kaleidoscope. You simply hold it at an angle that appears correct and fire.
You are immediately knocked to the floor as if hit by a semi truck going 20 MPH. The shot connected with one of the criminals and it erased him from existence. Even the memories of him have been destroyed and you're wondering why you just shot into an empty hallway. The shot continues to travel through at least 4 houses, a car, and a 10 ton boulder before lodging itself 20 feet into a nearby hill, never to be seen again.
It is at this point, you realize you cannot hear.
The surviving burglar can't hear either but he's also on fire from the muzzle blast and is currently vacating your home. You don't care. Your shoulder is dislocated and there is a hole in your brand new AR500 refrigerator.
You're crying now.
The police arrive and, upon seeing the scene, start laughing. You start crying harder.

Life is a bit surreal sometimes, created a popular mod for one of the best VR games on the market that left such a mark that the original developer incorporated features from it into the game.
