Nationals Semifinals - Women’s Category
Kuroo Tetsurou prides himself on being observant.
"Mine!"
The scream echoes through the volleyball court. The sound travels around the space like a bullet, piercing through. He can feel it with the buzzing on his ears, the prickling of his arm hairs, the taut of his abdomen. There's very little room in this large gymnasium for anything other than your voice.
Right behind the court, Kuroo watches you as you spread your arms out, demanding room and stopping other players from trying to take the ball. The high ball gets caught in your expert hands, landing perfectly on the spiker’s hand near the net. Setting on the first touch is a risk. He can feel a tiny bead of sweat on his own forehead.
Kuroo Tetsurou loves volleyball.
He's also an excellent student, son and grandson, captain.
To him, all those things are real. Concrete.
He enjoys the game itself, the tactics, discussing new plays, trying to defeat the competition, improve his team. Being a captain is also important to him and he does it well, comforting the players when all they need are gentle words and confronting them when a firm stance is demanded. And he takes care of them.
He also likes studying. The comfort of providing right answers to tough questions proves in and of itself enough reward to someone who's so analytical, observant, smart. Opening up a book, gathering knowledge, putting that to the test—it's grounding and, god forbid, fun for him.
He's also someone one can rely on. The way his obaa-chan dotes on him, his dad prides himself on calling him "his son". An excellent friend too, with the way he watches over Kenma, always concerned with the younger boy—his eating and sleeping habits, his ability to communicate with the other players of the Nekoma volleyball team. He's the caring kind and, if you ask his obaa-chan, has always been this way, ever since he was a little kid.
So, it makes sense that there's little room for other things. Like, say, romance.
Kuroo Tetsurou is observant so, naturally, he knows.
He knows about the girls who swoon over him, whether they confess it on the hallway, with a letter or even an onigiri atop his desk every Friday for three months. The ones who don't say anything are only being slightly less obvious. The flitting of their eyes, blushing of their cheeks, twirling of their hands—it all points towards something that he's, by now, on his third year of high school, well aware of.
Kuroo supposes it makes sense. He is tall, with an athletic, muscly build, even if his body is more towards the lean side. He can't fix his hair for his life, but the more obvious girls have already pointed out to him that it's part of his charm. Plus, he is genuinely nice and tries to get along with everyone, shining his smirk to whomever crosses his path. So, yeah. It makes sense.
Kuroo Tetsurou, however, finds it all too abstract.
Maybe because he doesn't have the time, maybe because this romantic inclination has never hit him. Being a child of divorce might also factor in.
Still, there seems to be no substance to it, though.
Not that he doesn't get it, because he does. He thinks some of his suitors are pretty, there's a poster of a sake ad with a particularly busty lady in the boy's clubroom that catches his eye and he is, after all, high-schooler. But it remains too abstract.
The volleyball club, his almost spotless track record as a student, his home life. That's real, that's concrete.
The opposing team strikes and the ball hits Nekoma's blockers, flying to the end of the court. His eyes are now watching you, sprinting with all your might to catch the ball from the libero, sending in flying toward the ace.
Kuroo Tetsurou feels tethered.
This is also real. The way he can feel himself grounded, glued to the floor, like his own weight could be enough to open up a hole underneath him. The strap of his gym bag weighs on his shoulders, his hand griping it until it pales, his fingernails piercing the fabric. He can't tell if he's breathing too fast or not at all. His heart sits heavy on his chest, watching you.
Nekoma's match point has turned into a rally and god, this point belongs to this team. He's been watching them for a while now and knows how much they've grown, how they've improved into this well-oiled machine, the most important piece being, of course, you. The new setter.
With a philosophy that focuses on receiving and connecting, the women’s team had been suffering in the past two years when its former setter graduated high school. The backup only played volleyball for fun and as such, wouldn’t and couldn’t lead the team to Nationals. Now, it's only natural that Nekoma would rely so much on a player that managed to turn their last bad years around and bring them back to the basics: connection.
One of Nekoma's wing spiker strikes, but the ball gets stopped by the blockers on the other side. The libero digs, barely managing to catch it with an underarm pass, sending it high up and towards the other team’s side. It’s gonna be an out, Nekoma will lose this point, he thinks. Then, she shouts your name.
Kuroo holds his breath as he watches you run from the front of the court, under the net and onto the other side, your sneakers squeaking when you jump off the ground. You look like you're flying, both hands above making their way to the moving ball. You're untethered, he thinks, feeling himself get heavier. You make a pass to a spiker coming from the back, catching the opposing team by surprise, ball landing heavily on the ground, finally claiming this long rally and, with it, the match.
He closes his eyes and exhales, his grip going slack. When he opens them again, you're on the ground looking up, breathing heavily, clenching your firsts. Then you punch the court and let out a scream, being followed by your teammates as they pile on top of you, the backups running from the back of the court to celebrate with everyone.
Kuroo Tetsurou prides himself on being observant.
Yet a part of him feels like he's only now seeing things clearly.
hello everyone, tis been a while been thinking about coming back for some time now and i have a few kuroo fics i'm hoping to publish this year. bear with me, as i have three ideas toying around in my head lol
as always, any feedback is appreciated.
hope you enjoy and stick around for the rest

HURRICANE HAX CRASHES BRIAR RIDGE SUMMER MUSIC FEST
On Sunday afternoon, gale-force winds and torrential rain abruptly brought the Summer Music Fest to a halt. Unfortunately, Kacey Musgraves, as the headlining act, wasn't able to get a flight to Briar Ridge in time, due to the weather. With a hurricane warning issued, first responders swiftly shut down the event, urging everyone to seek immediate shelter at Oakland Elementary and Middle School. Upon arrival, everyone was sent to the gymnasium as their gathering point to wait out the storm. First responders assigned various tasks to volunteers to help keep things organized and to divide up the work needed to make sure everyone stayed safe.
OOC DETAILS
Okay, so here's the thing, this is rp. And therefore we are taking some creative liberties with how realistic this will be. So please keep that in mind. If you have experience with hurricanes and any part of this is wildly unrealistic, please bear with us! lol
With that being said, please do not start hurricane threads or reference the hurricane in threads before Friday, Aug 30th. We're posting now so that people have time to plot in advance, but we also wanted to ensure that everyone had time to start just festival related threads first.
Since it is hurricane season in South Carolina, the town has long set out plans for hurricane warnings and the school has been prepared to be the gathering point in cases like this where large amounts of the Briar Ridge population aren't at home and can't get home easily. Therefore, the school is stocked up on supplies and tools to help secure the building and keep Briar Ridge citizens safe.
If you would like to say that your character was injured in the rush to get to the school, or becomes sick during the time that they are stuck in the school because of getting drenched by the cold rain, please run your idea by the admin team by sending an IM to the main! We can't have everyone incapacitated lol We also ask that you take into consideration your character's task (described in the next point & assigned in the discord server) before deciding on the extent of the injury, so as to avoid making it impossible for them to finish their task (I.e. please don't give your character a broken leg if they're going to have to walk around the whole school boarding up windows lol). Once we have approved your character being sick or injured, please make sure to use appropriate trigger warnings.
Every character will be paired up with one other character and given a task once they arrive at the school. Your character(s) can still interact with other people in the school, but we ask that each pairing give priority to and at least begin their task thread while the event is still ongoing.
These tasks can be as detailed as you would like to make them, we've listed some examples in the server of things your characters could do, but you don't strictly need to do that. If you think of something else within your assigned task category, please feel free to write it out instead!
Your task threads don't have to be long or last throughout the entire time everyone's stuck in the school. This is just a chance to get random characters to interact and hopefully get threads going with new writers!
The festival goers will be stuck at the school for 24 hours from when the hurricane warning was issued (unbeknownst to them of course!). If your character has family members, pets, etc. at home, feel free to include anxiety over their safety in your characters threads, but maybe there's someone else already taking care of them? We don't want to create REAL issues for your characters' loved ones!
After having been at the school for several hours, the electricity will go off at 10pm and won't come back on until mid morning the next day, a few hours before they're all allowed to go back home.
Please feel free to get creative with this! We're excited for this as we think it's a fun opportunity to pair up characters who might not have interacted otherwise even outside of the tasks!
If you have any questions, please direct them to the event channel in the discord server!

What would you say is the worst retelling of Greek myths,
At this point there are THOUSANDS, so you can understand why I cannot answer this by taking every book into account. I can tell you about some retellings I saw that will stick with me forever - and not for good reasons. Let's begin...
Tumblr media
The winner of this shitshow: "The good side of wrong" by Jenika Snow.
A ddlg erotica posing as a HxP retelling. And before you say anything, it's not about the kink, okay? It's about many things, including Persephone being barely legal and Hades being predatory and abusive, and her actual blood-related uncle in a modern setting. I only stomach some pages desperate friends sent me because of the violence and even blood related to sexual acts. Out of many nsfw and violent excerpts, let's go with the "mild" one. (Uncle Hades harasses his niece Persephone at school)
Daddy: Bunny, when I call you, answer. I went into the contacts, clicked his name, and promptly changed it. I’m at school. Leave me alone. I was just about to toss the phone aside when it chimed with another incoming text. Asshole: Did I ever tell you how pretty you are when you sass back? I shouldn’t have liked that praise. Asshole: Are those little fuckers at your school leaving you alone, or do you need Daddy to come and break their kneecaps for looking at you? DO I NEED TO GO ON? I don't think so
Tumblr media
Wanna write erotica? Fine! Do you absolutely HAVE TO have the supposed "Greek gods" as the characters who spank each other and tie each other from walls? If that writer was me I would never look even an ancient statue of Persephone or Demeter in the eyes EVER AGAIN!
I want you to look AN ACTUAL ANCIENT VENERATED STATUE OF PERSEPHONE (this one was to be placed near a grave I believe), I WANT YOU TO LOOK AT GODDESS PERSEPHONE, AND TELL HER "I am writing ddlg about you hehee". You are sooo out of touch, people! No, look at her! Look at her and think of ddlg, I fucking dare you
Tumblr media
I've also seen some Anglo USian authors on Twitter crying about "people not respecting the greek gods" and when you go on their profile they write this type of erotica with the Greek gods....
Tumblr media
Second "honorable" mention: Lies We Sing to the Sea, by Sarah Underwood
As the author hasn't read the Odyssey and yet her book is a published for profit retelling based on the Epic, I am not going to read her book but still provide my opinion on it. Magical how that works, eh?
Tumblr media
Let me start by saying I despise the author for saying that the most important Epic of my culture is "but it's so long, and written in a 'prose-y' way that's kind of impenetrable." Oh, but also she did us the favor to mention that "parts of it are very beautiful". Oh thank you dear, white anglo author, for recognizing some value in that overcomplicated primitive culture of ours!
In Greek school we studied whole poetically translated rhapsodies of the Odyssey in GYMNASIUM, what the hell… And she said she owns "various translations" but I think that's an outright lie because, ma'am, how haven't you read the Odyssey but you own it multiple times??
Tumblr media
The writing may be okay-ish, from what I've heard. I put it in the "worst" category because if you like Greek myths in your books, this won't have any Greek myth in it. The author herself ignores the nature of Greek myth, how the themes are woven there, why the characters do what they do, how the gods and humans behave there, and so many other cultural conventions.
If your joy is reading books that fool everyone with how they market themselves as "Greek mythology retellings" just because they have characters with Greek names (and a Hebrew name for a Greek character who isn't Hebrew, because what is basic research? 😂) then, fine, maybe this book is for you. Go, live your girlbossing life, babygirl.
Tumblr media
And last (nightmare) but not least: Circe by Madeline Miller
Because you can still fuck up Greek myth despite managing to avoid it the first time. Maybe this case is worse than Lies we sing to the Sea because this author has degrees (not too relevant to Greek antiquity) and can hide behind them when people call her out. And more people are going to believe she knows what she is doing.
I have a #Circe tag for this horrible retelling, about the girlbossification of Circe which ended up disrespecting the myth, the characters - especially Circe - and making a distorted version of how the author thought justice looks like in the context of that myth. Seriously, did Circe HAD to be raped and abused all her life?? She was pretty badass in her own right on the myth. (Westerners don't idolize every evil and violent woman / female creature from the Greek myths challenge).
As I've said before, writers like Miller love forcing violence on foreign eastern women as an escapist fantasy of righteousness.
The book can bore you to death or offer you ample cringe with pieces of dialogue and character behavior that reminded me so much of USian teenagers I wanted to claw my eyes out.
“And how were our father’s (edit: Helios) golden heifers?” “Beautiful.” Perses laughed. “She doesn’t know! Have you ever heard of anyone so stupid?” “Never,” my sister said. I shouldn’t have asked, but I was still drifting in my thoughts, seeing those severed bodies sprawled on marble floors. “What don’t I know?” My sister’s perfect mink face. “That he fucks them, of course. That’s how he makes new ones. He turns into a bull and sires their calves, then cooks the ones that get old. That’s why everyone thinks they are immortal.” “He does not.” They howled, pointing at my reddened cheeks. The sound drew my mother. She loved my siblings’ japes. “We’re telling Circe about the cows,” my brother told her. “She didn’t know.” My mother’s laughter, silver as a fountain down its rocks. “Stupid Circe.”
Tumblr media
Ours is the Land of Comedy (derogatory) so we Greeks know one thing or two about embarrassing stuff.
Also Helios didn't fuck his cows. His cattle just didn't die because it was blessed. Correct me if I missed something here but it seems that Circe took a SACRED cattle and shoved zoophilia into the whole situation because "I must show ancient Greek males bad".
Speaking of Greek men... she describes Prometheus like this:
His skin was beautiful, the color of polished walnut. It smelled of green moss drenched with rain.
Yeaaah No... It goes without saying that no Greek, today or in antiquity, describe other Greeks in their circle (or outside, as far as I know) like this. The world you are looking for is μελαχρινός, Miller. You want to write realism, I am giving it to you.
This description is not exactly neither natural or realistic. It looks like exoticization. Tree/dirt/crop colors are not in our language to describe colors in humans unless it's for "ebony" hair, so this description along with the "pressed olives" skin color from TSOA makes me think Miller sees skin tones not pale as hers as something "other". I might be wrong here but it feels... icky. It's like she thought, "let me describe these marvelous otherwordly skin tones of these exotic people in breathtaking prose!" Meanwhile the dude is just a bit tanned, and two tones darker than Miller herself.
Ok, that's it, I can't do this anymore.

So in the US we get accepted into the whole school, not just a specific program. Then everyone takes the same general classes at first (writing, science, art, etc.) before picking what they want to get a degree in later. Because you can take any classes you want, so long as you still take the ones needed to get at least one degree, we have major and minor areas of study. So your major is what you get a degree in, but you can also have a minor in something else which will be added onto your major degree. So for example, someone wanting to go into biotech can major in computer science and minor in biochem. Didn't know if you were curious about what major actually means lol
It sounds wild, but hearing other countries' systems where u start full speed in a specific program sounds wild to me! I switched from engineering to heath in my 3rd year, you're telling me that outside the US I would've been trapped in engineering????
Also, the program you're doing sounds like the equivalent to co-op programs in the US. However, by law you still have to take the same amount of classes to get a degree because working doesn't replace the credits, meaning it takes longer than 4 years to graduate 😖
Ooo, thank you for explaining!
We actually already do that in Gymnasium (Grade 10-13, high school equivalent I think)
So in "High School" we had different "Lines" you could choose; Like "Global line", "Social Science Line", "Mathematics Line" etc., each with different mandatory classes and add ons you could choose yourself.
(Note: You could choose several different kinds of Gymnasium, each specialized within a certain category. E.g. Stem, Business, General Gymnasium, etc.)
I chose the general gymnasium and I chose to "major" in Mediascience and "Minored" in Psychology, while I had a set of classes I had to take, like Math, Danish, History, etc.
So what you're explaining I already sort of did that in Gymnasium!
Then for Uni, you apply for the education you want to go for, so Psychology, Stem, Pedagogy, and so on. I would've applied for a bachelor's in Psychology but my GPA isn't high enough for it, so I'm taking a backdoor :,)
Degrees are offered like that individually at the schools, so VIA university college is what I've gotten into, but I can't mix and match like I could in high school
At least not to the same degree, I can, in the third or fourth semester, choose a specific add-on class to personalize and specialise the education to fit me personally, but it can't stray too far from the actual education.
(I remember in gymnasium how absolutely bullshit hard it was to have to put my focus on so much all at once.
Like I had so many different things I needed to study for that I seriously barely made it through.
I had to juggle social life, self discovery, partying, school life, with tons of work. So Uni giving me more space to actually dive into something specific that I'm interested in and letting me speak to likeminded people who I (sorta) know have the same interest as me is a RELIEF.
Like I understand how it can feel claustrophobic, especially when you're used to something way different - But I find it like a breath of fresh air to not have to worry about ten different subjects all at once, but have all of them, in some way, be related to one another :,)

Relationships: Kageyama Miwa & Kageyama Tobio, Kageyama Kazuyo & Kageyama Tobio
Word Count: 1,694
Senior high was a three-year bright spot between the loss and learning, nineteen and boarding a direct flight to Rio, that there is more than one type of grief.
read below or ao3 link
Kageyama Tobio considers quitting volleyball only once in his life, a year after his grandfather passes suddenly and unexpectedly. Less than a week after he tosses the ball—a perfect toss for C-quick, just as he’d practiced for an hour the night before—and it falls, untouched, onto the court where it completes its arc. He thinks about it, seriously quitting, for less than 24 hours. He still thinks about it, but not seriously.
Coach benches him without another word about it. He watches the rest of the meet from the bench. And feels nothing. There’s nothing left to feel when he realizes he doesn’t want to be on the court. Not after watching the ball fall. Abandoned again. First Miwa, now grandfather. If this time, it was his fault, which means the others may have been his fault as well, right?
Miwa seemed very free after quitting. She started doing other things. She tied her long hair up in pretty, intricate styles, and never looked at a volleyball again.
That’s how it works. On the bench he doesn’t cry but something in him releases. Everything feels very much over, in the moment. The king is gone, off the court.
I miss them. I’m tired. I want to play. I don’t want to play.
The sets pass, until they lose in the third round in a blur of nothing. The swell he’d always felt from the court, the energy of the stadium, putters out. No sting of loss. No rush of victory. No twisting frustration. No images, instant replay, of all the things to practice for next time. None of it. Just the ball rolling towards the far wall and twelve players walking away from the net.
He was going to win the tournament for his grandfather. He was going to win for him and for volleyball and now he’s on the bench. He’d told him, the only time they’d let him visit the hospital, that he was going to win for him. Look, you made me strong. I love volleyball more than them.
He doesn’t quit. Turns out, it’s not that easy.
Too bad he can’t keep his hands off a volleyball—a well-worn plain white ball from camp—at home, even if he doesn’t want to stand on the court like that ever again. He sets it at the ceiling, lying on his back, before he sleeps. He continues his receiving drills against the wall of the house until his mother’s car pulls into the driveway.
Monday is the day that Miwa calls. From Tokyo. A reminder that she’s still out that. They she’ll talk to him, but only for ten minutes a week. Straight out of senior high and she’s off to the big city with a pat on the head and a promise to call and to message. She’d gone to work as a hairdresser and go to beauty school. She was back for the funeral with a new haircut and a second piercing in her left ear.
She calls the Monday after Kitagawa Daiichi loses to Kousen. Instantly, he realizes she’s calling him from inside a gymnasium. He hears it, balls bunching and shoes squeaking, before she says anything. And she says something before he can say, “hello”.
“I joined the local municipal intramural team, so you better keep playing, quitter.
Mom must have told her he’d stopped attending practice after the prefectural junior athletics meet. He wants to ask her why she quit in the first place. Why she went back, now, of all times. But he doesn’t want to talk about Kazuyo. And it’s probably about him. Her picking up the ball again and him getting kicked off the court are both about him.
“Do they make you cut your hair?” He asks instead.
“No, of course not. They’re not stupid high school students,” Miwa says. There’s a referee’s whistle in the background. It makes him cringe, the way it filters through the phone speaker.
“Oh.”
“The team is actually co-ed.”
“What’s co-ed?”
“Like, men and women. I’m setting to guys.”
“But you’re super short. You were a libero.”
“I’m a better setter than the other guy, so I’m setting for now.”
“Oh.”
His sister was a good setter. But she’d played all positions. Libero, in her final year of junior high when she didn’t grow. She’d been one of the best liberos in the prefecture, despite only switching in the middle of her second year. Her stats almost matched with Shiratorizawa Junior High’s starting setter, who plays for the national team now, she’d told him once.
“I’ll be there for your graduation, so don’t flunk out. I already have my train ticket.”
“Okay.”
And that’s that.
Miwa starts sending him videos of her practices. All of her games are practices. It’s all for fun. She looks like she’s having fun. Her long hair is tied up in a high ponytail. Instead of the typical girl’s volleyball uniform, she’s wearing long shorts like a basketball player and a sleeveless T-shirt. Her arms look stronger than he remembers them.
Me
[ Why aren’t you wearing kneepads. ]
Sis
[ I haven’t bought any yet. ]
Me
[ You’re going to hurt your knees. ]
Sis
[ It’s nice to know that my little brother is looking out for my knees. ]
Kageyama goes to the last mandatory practice of the year. He tries (and fails) to ignore the looks he gets from everyone on the team. Hashikami doesn’t say a single word to him. Kindaichi and Kunimi whisper to each other in the locker room.
“Look who finally showed up, king.”
He slams his locker door shut. It rattles in its hinges.
Practice is less intense than during the year. They have no matches to prepare for. Only to keep up their skills going into senior high.
And everyone’s chattering about senior high. Kageyama can hear it from where he’s standing for warm up, at least a meter away from the closest players—two first years he’d helped learn to serve-recieve, and who’d given him looks of pity when he’s been kicked off the court.
“I heard the king didn’t get into Shiratorizawa. Didn’t pass the entrance exams.”
“Serves him right. Did he think they’d just let him in for being a genius setter? I guess even they don’t want him on their team...”
“Ya think he’ll go to Seijoh?”
Kageyama does nothing but jump serve practice during open gym. He can tell he’s being watched by coach. He doesn’t ask. He has a ball and a net and nobody’s trying to speak to him. Good enough.
“Kageyama-kun!” Coach yells his name after blowing the whistle to end practice. He watches the ball he spiked land in the far corner of the court, just inside the line. Direct hit.
While he jogs over to where coach is sitting, dread kills the excitement from his pinpoint serve.
“Yes, sir?”
“I hear your teammates are considering where to attend senior high school. If you do not wish to go to Seijoh, I believe that coach Ukai may be returning to coach the Karasuno boy’s volleyball team. I believe he will have sound advice with regards to how you might succeed in the future, there.”
Kageyama had expected scolding or punishment of some kind. Coach had said nothing about his problems with his teammates until they had all made up their minds. He had nothing to say to him on the bench. But now he’s telling him to go to a school he’s never heard of.
“Ukai” sounds a little familiar.
He looks up Karasuno High School when he gets home. He knows he won’t pass the entrance exams for Date Tech, and Johzenji is too far away. Karasuno, “the fallen crows,” he reads.
Karasuno has no entrance examinations. Karasuno isn’t a private school, but it has two volleyball gyms. The school is located closer than any other besides Aoba Johsai. He tests into class 3 on a lonely Saturday morning, the answers to the singular Shiratorizawa entrance exam appearing in his mind at the wrong time. He doesn’t care what class he gets.
Kageyama doesn’t go to Karasuno because he’s looking for any advice. He’s all caught up in Kazuyo’s advice. His grandfather’s advice made him an effective volleyball player.
He wants a good volleyball coach who will let him play.
He goes to Karasuno because he finds a photograph of his grandfather, number 2, next to Ukai’s number 3 at Shiratorizawa’s volleyball hall of fame. They make him go back to pick up his failed entrance exam and he sees it. A hall with every framed photograph of past nationals-competitive teams.
Shiratorizawa Boy’s VB — Spring 1965, Nationals Top 8.
It takes him many years to realize it was the best decision of his life.
He doesn’t know what would have happened if he had gone to Aoba Johsai. Or, by some miracle, had gotten into Shiratorizawa.
Never one to believe in anything besides what he could do for himself, he never bothered to create a mythology around finding the photograph. Nor about his junior high coach taking pity.
Every sports writer writes about him as though he was destined to succeed. Miwa sends him articles when he makes the national team. “Diamond in the crow’s nest”, “genius setter,” “youngest men’s volleyball Olympic team member since 1994.”
She follows it all up with a pleasant:
Sis
[ Don’t get a big head. And block out all the news sites and armchair bloggers right now. ]
She would know. She’s dating a supermodel. “The press are vultures in every industry, brother mine.”
Senior high was a three-year bright spot between the loss and learning, nineteen and boarding a direct flight to Rio, that there is more than one type of grief.
For those years after, he keeps his head down and plays.
And his grandfather’s words find their way back to him, again. Punctuation but not an ending to the career he knows, for himself, wasn’t predestined.
“One day, you’ll find someone even stronger.”
If every victory was for you, just a little bit, to make up a broken promise in a sterile white room, this loss is for me, grandfather.

Theatrics

The lights of the stage had captivated audiences for years, drawing people to stand on those wooden boughs like moths to a flame.
Tommy Inness was young, far too young to understand what he was diving into when he first felt the call of the stage, sitting cross-legged on the floor of an elementary school gymnasium as high schoolers graced their pathetic little corner of the acting world.

Category: Series, Animated

Tightly clutching his Gibson guitar, Mafuyu Satou steps out of his dark apartment to begin another day of his high school life. While taking a nap in a quiet spot on the gymnasium staircase, he has a chance encounter with fellow student Ritsuka Uenoyama, who berates him for letting his guitar's strings rust and break. Noticing Uenoyama's knowledge of the instrument, Satou pleads for him to fix it and to teach him how to play. Uenoyama eventually agrees and invites him to sit in on a jam session with his two band mates: bassist Haruki Nakayama and drummer Akihiko Kaji.
Satou's voice is strikingly beautiful, filling Uenoyama with the determination to make Satou the lead singer of the band. Though reticent at first, Satou takes the offer after an emotional meeting with an old friend. With the support of his new friends, Satou must not only learn how to play guitar, but also come to terms with the mysterious circumstances that led him to be its owner.
Absolute masterpiece of an anime not only is the romance swoon worthy, but the music is so good, I would give anything to see that iconic singing scene again, never sobbed so hard.
Note: There is a live action version of this too!
Personal Rating: 9.8/10

Pink and Blue
by DearSweetCheeks
“Kiramman, team blue.”
A figure brushed past Vi, interrupting her thoughts and making her finally look up. The girl Sevika had just called was taller than almost anyone else in her class, and Vi couldn’t believe she hadn’t noticed her until now. As the girl walked away to the other side of the gymnasium, back turned to her, Vi took in the long legs and the curve of her ass, lingering there for a second more before lifting her eyes to the midnight blue ponytail swaying with the movement of her steps.
Sheesh.
___
Vi's last year of high school starts off with the promise of being a shitty one. There's nasty rumors going around about the time she spent away, and there's this girl Vi doesn't remember who doesn't seem to like her. Mylo tries to make a bet with her. And there's rugby.
Cheesy 90s high school rom-com, but make it CaitVi.

I'm not an archeologist so this is my interpretation from what I have read, discussed with my archeologist co-worker, and as a greek.
the first thing to understand is that, it is not about "dicks out" but overall nude figure.
the gist of why they are in the nude all the time, is "am I actively doing something physical, or am I sitting with my thoughts"
the reason Achilles is a burrito, while Odysseus is in nude can be very simply tell the one seeing the art that Achilles was in mourning and refused to go back to lead his army (he was in his thoughts and was not physically active and refused to be) while Odysseus comes from active duty hence in the nude.
it was rare to see people in nude just walking on the street, but it was very common to see people working in the nude, from artists, to manual workers, to athletes.
the philosophy behind the nude was that, in the nude one can show their perfection. and because the gods were depicted in art in nude to showcase their perfection, the average ancient was aspired to be physically and mentally as perfect as the gods.
now goddesses were dressed, except for a nude Aphrodite (she wasn't always on the nude either)
spartan women would also be on the nude.
then nude was not seen as something bad, but as the purest form.
in the olympics women were not allowed to watch because all the men were nude.
so much so that there is a whole ass story about a woman whose husband and sons were participating, and they allowed her to watch them when she made her case.
by the way women had their own athletic games the same as Olympics, they were called Heraean Games, they were older than olympics
back to the nude
in english language there is a loan word "gymnasium" or "gym" for short.
the first part of the world "gymna" comes from the root word "gymnia" which means "nude"
gymnasium in ancient greece was the school (in modern greece we call middle school gymnasium though we are not in the nude because of centuries of christianity)
so overall nothing about the dick, but all about the full nude as a sign of perfection and physical activity.
sexual nude was also everywhere but that's a separate category.
you can see similar life stances about being in the nude when you look at tribes in Africa or South America.
I read a phrase that was along the lines of, "an artist, a worker, a dancer, need freedom of movement, so them removing their clothes is nothing out of the ordinary, and also it is pleasing to the eye of others"(as in nobody is going to complain when seeing a perfectly build body in the nude)
you may have seen achilles in his miserable blanket burrito but have you seen odysseus Sitting Like That while appealing to achilles in his miserable blanket burrito

The high school I graduated from was the Bearcats, which is an animal that actually exists, but is neither a bear nor a cat, and looks nothing like what we had painted on the wall in the school gymnasium, which was sort of like a grizzly bear body with a cat/mountain lion face and tail.
I attended several other schools, with mascots in the "feline" and "native american" categories.
Anyway, I put "something else????"

Uncover the Advantages of Investing in Chennai’s Beach Villas
Tumblr media
What is the investment potential of beach villas in Chennai?
A bigger milestone such as a property investment calls for time and patience. The first two aspects that come to your mind are the location and the resale value of the property. Since Chennai neatly falls into the ‘favourable investment location’ category, villa plots for sale in Chennai readily satisfy the above two criteria. Whether you are looking for a getaway every weekend from the city noise or want a home closer to the IT towers, the villas lining the ECR and OMR coasts will be your right fit. The upcoming points will make it easier for you to understand the worth of investing in beach villa plots in Chennai.
Bountiful amenities
The independent villas in and outside the city are surrounded by the best amenities. With the improved roads and accessibility in recent years, the drive to and from your beach villas to the city has become enjoyable and quicker. From the striking façade, interiors, pools, gymnasiums, mini-theatres, and stores in and around the property to the shopping malls, hospitals, schools, airport, and metro stations just a few minutes away from your doorstep, beach villa plots in Chennai are the foundation of the heaven you have been dreaming of.
Rewarding resale value
Just as the city’s apartments have high resale value, independent villas too aren’t far behind. The per capita income of those in Chennai has been increasing and so more luxury-seeking professionals with different agendas are keen on buying a ready-to-move-in or second-hand independent villa. The beach villa plots for sale in ECR can be your stay-cation, serene home, or can be let out as an alluring resort-like stay. In any case, you will be at the profit end now and in the future.

If you are looking at villas as the ideal living place, then congratulations you are the one who prioritizes quality of living over hustling and seeks comfort over prudence. Ditch the crampy apartments and bland architecture, to design and decorate every corner of your villa, because a beach villa in Chennai is synonymous to comfort, style, space, and rewarding investment.

DICNHS Bags Total Championship in DSPC, Campus Scribes to Advance in RSPC
Marking the future of journalism inside the division, Digos City National High School’s (DiCNHS) The Pioneer earns the overall championship in the English category of Digos Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC),  with campus journalists advancing to the Regional School Press Conference (RSPC).
All individual writers of The Pioneer are set to advance to the RSPC. Two of TV broadcasting’s news anchors and a technical director saved their spot in the regional competition. An anchor from the radio broadcasting team clinches his shot in the contest.
“I and The Pioneer aim past our limits. The recognition that The Pioneer gained this DSPC brought pride and honor to Digos City National High School. Moreover, it inspired the campus journalists to reach for more. The awards the Pioneer attained not only symbolized the hard work and dedication of the publication but also signified the future of journalism inside the campus,” stated Maria Margarette Saban, RSPC qualifier, first place Copy Reading and Headline Writing (CRHW).
The Pioneer’s individual category writers will advance in the RSPC with CRHW first placer Maria Margarette D. Saban; Editorial Writing first placer Van Anjela Granada; News Writing first placer Jemimah Agnes R. Avila; Feature Writing third placer Christelle A. Degamo; Sports Writing second placer Fatima Yashmin O. Jaitoni; Sci-tech Writing first placer Rj Justine Bugador; Editorial Cartooning fourth placer Zeth Ioan Magdayao; Photojournalism first placer Xaella Dyla R. Adeva; and Column Writing first placer Chester Lance O. Sucna-an.
“The Pioneer's awards bring joy and pride to the school as they showcase the talents and abilities that both the coaches and students possess,” said Van Anjela Granada, first-place winner of Editorial writing.
The Pioneer’s TV broadcasting team’s anchors Elijah Raphael Alvarado and Jans Alyssa Jumawan will forward to the RSPC with their best anchor win. Technical director Karl Nicoli Pelletero will move on to the RSPC backed by his second place wins in both Best in Technical Director and Best in Technical Application. The TV broadcasting also bagged special awards, winning second in Best Developmental Communication by Leigh Marvin Emphasis adding to the group’s second-place wins in both Best Script and Best Graphics.
“It felt unreal. Unreal, in the best way possible. We faced major complications during our simulation, and I was a first-timer, so the sheer idea of winning an award was alien to me. Despite our difficulties, I'm glad that we pushed ourselves, even if to others it had already seemed that we had reached our limit,” declared Jans Alyssa Jumawan, RSPC qualifier, and best anchor in TV broadcasting.
Radio broadcasting’s 1st place Best Anchor Winner, Kurt Achelis Declaro will move up to RSPC. The radio broadcasting team also won first place in both Best Production and Best Script, Technical Director Haven Jozel De Leon won second place in Best Technical Director, meanwhile Mary Sarachelle Agar won third place in Best Infomercial.
“The Pioneer won as the champion during the 2024 DSPC. This wouldn't be possible without our coaches, who gave us their never-ending support. Such an award brought pride to the school and showcased that the students of Digos City National High School are skilled,” stated Rj Justine Bugador, first-place winner of Sci-tech writing.
The DSPC winners will be forwarded to the RSPC. The RSPC will be hosted by 2 different divisions. Group category’s RSPC will be held in PTV Davao del Norte Station and Bulwagan ng Karunungan, and in DavNor Gymnasium, Davao del Norte and Tourism Complex on March 11-13, 2024 hosted by Davao del Norte Division.  The individual contests will be held in Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School on March 19-22, 2024 hosted by the Davao de Oro division.
