BLOODY DEATH

A look at how God speaks to us
in the True illumination of the Son
Today’s reading of the Scriptures begins the first chapter of the book of Hebrews
[Jesus, the Language of God]
Throughout our history God has spoken to our ancestors by his prophets in many different ways. The revelation he gave them was only a fragment at a time, building one truth upon another. But to us living in these last days God now speaks to us openly in the language of a Son, the appointed Heir of everything, for through him God created the panorama of all things and all time.
The Son is the dazzling radiance of God’s splendor, the exact expression of God’s true nature—his mirror image! He holds the universe together and expands it by the mighty power of his spoken word. He accomplished for us the complete cleansing of sins, and then took his seat on the highest throne at the right hand of the majestic One.
He is infinitely greater than angels, for he inherited a rank and a Name far greater than theirs. For God has never said to any angel what he said to Jesus:
“You are my favored Son, today I have fathered you.”
And this:
“I will be the Father to him, and he will be the Son to me.”
And again, when he brought his firstborn Son into the world:
“Let all my angels bow down before him
and kiss him in worship.”
And about his angels he says,
“I make my angels swift winds,
and my ministers fiery flames.”
But about his Son, he called him “God,” saying,
“Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever
and you will rule your kingdom
with justice and righteousness,
For you have cherished righteousness
and detested lawlessness.
For this reason, God, your God, has anointed you
and poured out the oil of bliss on you
more than on any of your friends.”
And he called him Lord, saying,
“Lord, you formed the earth in the beginning
and with your own hands you crafted the cosmos.
They will both one day disappear,
but you will remain forever!
They will all fade like a worn-out garment,
And they will be changed like clothes,
and you will fold them up and put them away.
But you are ‘I AM.’
You never change, years without end!”
And God has never said this to any of his angels:
“Take your seat next to me at my right hand
until I force your whispering enemies
to be a rug under your feet.”
What role then, do the angels have? The angels are spirit-messengers sent by God to serve those who are going to be saved.
The Book of Hebrews, Chapter 1 (The Passion Translation)
Today’s paired chapter of the Testaments is the 7th chapter of First Chronicles that documents the Family Tree of Israel:
[The Family of Issachar]
The sons of Issachar were Tola, Puah, Jashub, and Shimron—four sons. The sons of Tola were Uzzi, Rephaiah, Jeriel, Jahmai, Ibsam, and Samuel—the chiefs of their families. During David’s reign, the Tola family counted 22,600 warriors in their lineage. The son of Uzzi was Izrahiah; the sons of Izrahiah were Michael, Obadiah, Joel, and Isshiah—five sons and all of them chiefs. They counted 36,000 warriors in their lineage because they had more wives and sons than their brothers. The extended families of Issachar accounted for 87,000 warriors—all of them listed in the family tree.
[The Family of Benjamin]
Benjamin had three sons: Bela, Beker, and Jediael. Bela had five: Ezbon, Uzzi, Uzziel, Jerimoth, and Iri, all of them chiefs and warriors. They counted 22,034 names in their family tree. Beker’s sons were Zemirah, Joash, Eliezer, Elioenai, Omri, Jeremoth, Abijah, Anathoth, and Alemeth. Through these chiefs their family tree listed 20,200 warriors. Jediael’s son was Bilhan and the sons of Bilhan were Jeush, Benjamin, Ehud, Kenaanah, Zethan, Tarshish, and Ahishahar—all sons of Jediael and family chiefs; they counted 17,200 combat-ready warriors. Shuppim and Huppim were the sons of Ir; Hushim were from the family of Aher.
[The Family of Naphtali]
The sons of Naphtali were Jahziel, Guni, Jezer, and Shallum; they are listed under the maternal line of Bilhah, their grandfather’s concubine.
[The Family of Manasseh]
Manasseh’s sons, born of his Aramean concubine, were Asriel and Makir the father of Gilead. Makir got his wife from the Huppites and Shuppites. His sister’s name was Maacah. Another son, Zelophehad, had only daughters. Makir’s wife Maacah bore a son whom she named Peresh; his brother’s name was Sheresh and his sons were Ulam and Rakem. Ulam’s son was Bedan. This accounts for the sons of Gilead son of Makir, the son of Manasseh. His sister Hammoleketh gave birth to Ishdod, Abiezer, and Mahlah. The sons of Shemida were Ahian, Shechem, Likhi, and Aniam.
[The Family of Ephraim]
The sons of Ephraim were Shuthelah, Bered his son, Tahath his son, Eleadah his son, Tahath his son, Zabad his son, Shuthelah his son, and Ezer and Elead, cattle-rustlers, killed on one of their raids by the natives of Gath. Their father Ephraim grieved a long time and his family gathered to give him comfort. Then he slept with his wife again. She conceived and produced a son. He named him Beriah (Unlucky), because of the bad luck that had come to his family. His daughter was Sheerah. She built Lower and Upper Beth Horon and Uzzen Sheerah.
Rephah was Ephraim’s son and also Resheph; Telah was his son, Tahan his son, Ladan his son, Ammihud his son, Elishama his son, Nun his son, and Joshua his son. They occupied Bethel and the neighboring country from Naaran on the east to Gezer and its villages on the west, along with Shechem and its villages, and extending as far as Ayyah and its villages. Stretched along the borders of Manasseh were Beth Shan, Taanach, Megiddo, and Dor, together with their satellite villages. The families descended from Joseph son of Israel lived in all these places.
[The Family of Asher]
The sons of Asher were Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, and Beriah; Serah was their sister. The sons of Beriah were Heber and Malkiel, who had Birzaith. Heber had Japhlet, Shomer, Hotham, and Shua their sister.
Japhlet had Pasach, Bimhal, and Ashvath. His brother Shomer had Rohgah, Hubbah, and Aram. His brother Helem had Zophah, Imna, Shelesh, and Amal. Zophah had Suah, Harnepher, Shual, Beri, Imrah, Bezer, Hod, Shamma, Shilshah, Ithran, and Beera. Jether had Jephunneh, Pispah, and Ara. Ulla had Arah, Hanniel, and Rizia. These were Asher’s sons, all of them responsible, excellent in character, and brave in battle—good leaders. They listed 26,000 combat-ready men in their family tree.
The Book of 1st Chronicles, Chapter 7 (The Message)
my personal reading of the Scriptures for Wednesday, january 6 of 2021 with a paired chapter from each Testament of the Bible, along with Today’s Psalms and Proverbs
A post by John Parsons about the True nature of the Scriptures:
Where is it written, "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the godly one may be complete, equipped for every good work" (2 Tim. 3:16-17), it is to be noted that "the Scriptures" referred to here are the Jewish Scriptures (i.e., the Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings), since they are the foundation, the context, and the overarching matrix for the later New Covenant revelation... These were the Scriptures Yeshua used to contextualize and explain his ministry to his followers: “And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself” (Luke 24:27). Indeed when Paul wrote these words to Timothy the "New Testament" Scriptures had not yet been compiled by the leaders of the first-generation followers of Messiah.
How important is the Torah, friends? It is essential as the foundation for all that follows, including the very meaning of the gospel message! In other words, the Torah has both a logical, a linguistic, and a theological priority regarding our understanding of the New Testament, and the failure to read in context invariably leads to faulty interpretations and doctrinal errors of various kinds. “To the Jew first, and [then] to the Greek” (Rom. 1:16) is a principle not only of how the gospel message would transcend ethnic Israel to be offered to all the nations, but also about how we should approach the subject of Biblical hermeneutics. God “breathed out” (θεόπνευστος) his revelation in order, and the message itself must be understood in light of that order (Gal. 4:4-5). Moreover, since all of the New Testament finds its semantic roots in the Torah of Moses and the other Hebrew Scriptures, it is important to study Biblical Hebrew first before studying the Greek New Testament, since the Greek words were translated from the ideas originally given in the Hebrew texts of the Torah.
All of the Torah is amazingly wonderful; it is an inestimably great blessing! After all, what would we know of the creation of the universe and of humanity apart from its pages? What would we know of the reason for sin, sickness and death -- and therefore our need for salvation itself apart from the account of the fall of man as described in Book of Genesis? Or what we know of God's moral truth apart from the revelation of the law at Sinai? Or how could we undertand the need for sacrificial blood atonement apart from the sacrificial laws given in Leviticus? Or how would we understand the struggle of the journey of faith apart from the Book of Numbers? Or how would we appreciate the essential duty to love God with all our hearts -- the great Shema -- and the corresponding duty to love others as we love ourselves apart from the Book of Deuteronomy?
So the Torah provides the framework by which we read the Gospels, and apart from this framework we miss much of the original intent and meaning of the Bible... Again, that was Yeshua's approach to the Scriptures, after all. He *repeatedly* explained to his followers that would have to suffer and die, according to the Scriptures (see Luke 9:22, 9:44; Matt. 16:21; Mark 8:31). He told the disciples on the road of Emmaus: "All things had to be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me (Luke 24:27). Indeed Yeshua chided the rabbis of his day saying: "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; but it is they that bear witness about me" (John 5:39), and he also said, "If you would have believed Moses, you would believe in me, because he wrote about me" (John 5:46).
So love the Torah, friends; learn its message and study carefully its passages. That’s good New Testament theology, after all: "For everything that was written in former times was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and through encouragement of the Scriptures we may have hope" (Rom. 15:4). The Holy Spirit still speaks to the heart of those who love Yeshua, the everlasting King of the Jews: "Oh how I love your Torah (תּוֹרָה); it is my meditation all the day" (Psalm 119:97). Today’s message from the Institute for Creation Research
January 6, 2021
My Strength and Victory
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
“Jesus! What a Friend for Sinners” verse two highlights His attribute of strength. David wrote of encountering and benefitting from it when he hid safely in Him. “For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock” (Psalm 27:5).
Jesus! what a Strength in weakness!
Let me hide myself in Him;
Tempted, tried, and sometimes failing,
He, my Strength, my vict’ry wins.
In times of opposition, we can go to Him for comfort and protection. In Psalm 23:4, we are comforted to read, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” We can likewise pass this along to bolster others in need, for “we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God” (2 Corinthians 1:4).
When conflict comes, our Friend for sinners provides a way out. “God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Ultimately, victory is ours through His great strength and wisdom. In eternal glory, we are told that “now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night” (Revelation 12:10). Forever we will hide safely in Him. JDM

Wallows Talks “Overnight” Success, Staying True To Yourself, & Outer Space Aspirations [Q&A]
Photo: Jimmy Fontaine
Wallows is a band that has been a decade in the making. Comprised of Braeden Lemasters, Dylan Minnette, and Cole Preston, the Los Angeles-based trio has been playing in bands together since they were 11, and maybe that begins to explain why Wallows’ sound comes off as remarkably concise and striking only one EP in. It can be heard throughout their succinct debut EP, Spring, which only left us clamoring for the band’s highly-anticipated full-length follow-up. An EP, mind you, that Wallows somehow found time to release and tour with, despite both Lemasters and Minnette being quite busy acting -- the latter you may recognize as the star of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why.
Following a slew of sold out shows, a remarkable debut EP, an appearance at Tyler the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, 2019 is looking to be even bigger for Wallows. Don’t believe us? Well, feel free to dispute our claims while we’re busy moshing at the band’s upcoming Coachella set. Ahead of what is bound to be Wallows’ breakout year, we caught up with the band to talk about how they got where they are today, what is to come, and an extreme fear of condiments.
OTW: So the three of you have been friends for awhile, going through band names, sounds, etc -- can you walk us through that?
Braeden: Yes. So we’ve been playing together for almost ten years now, and me and Dylan met through an acting thing.
OTW: How old are you?
Braeden: I’m 22.
OTW: So literally half your life!
Braeden: So, half my life, yeah. I was like 10 when we met and then 12, 13, when we started playing together. Me and Dylan knew each other for awhile and then we met Cole, and then we started a band, and then we did classic rock covers and started writing classic rock originals, and then we just kind of progressed. Then, overnight.... just kidding [laughs]
We started playing under another name, and Wallows formed like a year ago and then overnight... [laughs] So sorry, but yeah, then we started playing and now we’re at Camp Flognaw! We’re stoked.
OTW: Okay, other than the overnight success, to what would you attribute your success?
Dylan: I think when we first dropped “Pleaser” and changed our name on all Instagram accounts -- that was the first, “We’re doing this, we’re doing something.”
Cole: It was a band name that we were actually proud of for once. We had extremely tragic names growing up.
youtube
OTW: Can we go through those?
Cole: Oh yes.
Breaden: Name number one: The Fever.
Dylan: With an ‘A’.
Braedan: F-E-A-V-E-R.
Dylan: Feaver like beaver. Next was the Narwalls, so that’s hilarious. So yeah, then Wallows happened one day.
OTW: How?
Braedan: So, the story behind the name is, I grew up playing Tony’s Hawk’s Underground, and there’s a spot in the game called “Wallows,” and that’s actually a spot in Hawaii, and it’s a skating spot. So, I grew up loving that name, told the guys about it, we wanted to call an album Wallows one day, and then we were talking about band names. And there it was.
OTW: How do each of your individual tastes in music contribute to the sound?
Cole: I feel like since we grew up playing in the band and like sharing music with each other, our tastes kind of just like met somewhere when we were really young, and it’s just kind of the same. You know what I mean? I feel like we all have a very similar taste in music now, but it’s very broad-ranging.
Braeden: I think what really helps, is if one of us comes up with an idea, we all kind of play everything like we can -- drums, guitar, like we can make a song on our own if we wanted too. I think that’s where it comes to the table, like if Cole has an idea or I have an idea, we just go, “Oh can you make this idea how you think it should be?” And then he just made a whole version of it, so I can hear a different perspective on a song that I came up with. So that kind of helps broaden the creative process; there’s not like one main songwriter just doing it. That’s how we help each other because we all bring something different to the table, in terms of what we’ll come up with.
OTW: Name one thing about another band member that no one knows.
Braeden: Oh, I think I had one of these. Cole’s worst nightmare is eating condiments on their own. Like a spoonful of mayo [laughs].
OTW: So you actively think about this?
Cole: Yeah, yeah. It freaks me out. Like I’ll go to In N Out and get the ketchup things. I do enjoy like ketchup and mayo and things like that, but like just the idea that Costco-size condiments exists just makes me.. ugh, it’s so bad! [laughs]
Braeden: I love it!
Cole: You guys could both drink honey mustard.
Dylan: Oh yeah, forsure.
Braeden: I’d say the fun fact about Dylan is... I know so many of them.
**OTW: Name all of them. **
Braeden: He loves Gang Beats, a game on PS4.
Dylan: You love it just as much.
Braeden: I do love it just as much.
Cole: I think we all do.
Braeden: Dylan also loves movies. His favorite movie is Pulp Fiction, I think.
Dylan: One of them. Or The Iron Giant.
Braeden: Pulp Giant.
Dylan: The Iron Pulp [laughs].
Cole: I feel like Braeden is very candid. I don’t know if anyone doesn’t know anything.
Braeden: I’ll say something about myself [laughs]. Every night I go to bed eating Cheerios with a scoop of peanut butter on the spoon, so you eat the Cheerios with the peanut butter on the spoon.
OTW: Oh! Honey Nut or regular?
Braeden: Regular. And then I put almond coconut whipped cream on it, and then I put cinnamon all over it topped with almond milk. Every night for the last two months I’ve been eating that.
OTW: Can we get a picture for the interview?
Cole: That’s our album cover, actually [laughs].
OTW: Great, great. So, let’s talk about music. Spring was your debut, right?
Dylan: Debut EP, yes! But there’s an album that’s coming.
Braeden: It’s going to exist soon. Yes, which is crazy.
OTW: What can we know?
Dylan: It’s a 2019 release.
Cole: It’s technically complete.
Braeden: It was produced by John Congleton, who’s the dude who did the Spring EP.
youtube
OTW: Legend!
Braeden: Yes, St. Vincent, Alvvays, a bunch of amazing artists.
Dylan: Yeah, he’s great, I love John. I don’t know what else to say about it. I don’t want to give away too much.
Braeden: There’s a feature... we won’t say who.
Dylan: There may or may not be a feature.
OTW: Any hints?
Dylan: No, we can’t give any hints. [laughs]
OTW: Okay, so 2019, no date. Is there a name?
Braeden: There is a title, but we can’t say.
Cole: All will be revealed, all will make sense later.
OTW: Fine! So, who are your Ones To Watch?
Dylan: Rex. He’s not really up and coming but Rex Orange County.
Cole: This band called Joy Again, super amazing. Slow Hollows; they’re really amazing. There’s this band called Moma, that I really like. They’re a good band.
All: Guny, The Regrettes, The Marias, uh, Tyler, The Creator. That’s up and coming. [laughs]
Dylan: Kanye.
Braeden: Post Malone [laughs].
OTW: As a band do you have an ultimate idea of success?
Braeden: My main thing -- I would just love to have a stack of albums one day, that I’m just really proud of. Like I could just flip through them and just be like, “I love all of these, and hopefully people did as well.” That’s my personal goal. I think just working with as many artists as we can. Try to collab and make music with other people would be a fun goal. I don’t know, start dressing cooler. [laughs]
Dylan: Honestly, I would love to work with Post Malone. That’d be insane.
Braeden: Beyonce.
Dylan: That would be way too next level.
Braeden: And Frank Ocean.
OTW: Last question -- as a band, is there any message you would send to the youth culture of today?
Braeden: Yeah, my advice as a lot of crazy things are happening with social media in this day and age, is just be yourself and try not to get in your head because so many people can just give you so much information about yourself, and they don’t like you on Instagram. Be yourself and try your best, and just stay positive and have a good time because everyone is so unique. You know what I mean? We’re all so different.
Cole: Yeah, just don’t be afraid to be yourself because what’s the worst that could happen? Surround yourself with people that allow you to be comfortable and that make you feel better about yourself. You know what I mean?
Dylan: Just be happy. If you’re happy, that’s all that matters.
Braeden: And if you’re unhappy, that’s cool too, you can always get happy.
OTW: Anything else you guys want to talk about that’s coming up?
Dylan: There will be a tour. Another big tour, bigger than before. After the album.
Cole: You should come out to the next tour because it will be very different from the last one, for sure.
Braeden: We’re going to be the first band in space.
Cole: First and last band in space.

Alam niyo ba, na ang 666 is a number of the beast? According to the Chapter 13 of The Book of Revelation in the New Testament Bible.
BEZDELNIK
Iihh.
TSUYOI
(Lalapit sa sign)
Hay nako, baliktarin niyo na lang. Magtatakutan pa kayo e.

Ang daming sapot sa taas!
TRACHYS
Di mo ba na-inform `yung caretaker na magi-stay tayo dito?
FONIAS
Okay, so first of all, di ko na nasabihan `yung caretaker na maglinis kase biglaan `yung plano. Pangalawa, masyadong maraming kalat.
TSUYOI
Let`s divide the group into three para mas mabilis matapos. Kami na ang magkasa ni Fonias. Dun kami sa sala maglilinis.

Ha?

TSUYOI
(Magmamasid sa paligid habang nagpupunas)
Scene 7

Sinabi mo pa kuya, andami kaya naming nilinis
(Habang kumakain)
BEZDELNIK
Fonias…. Aaahhhhhahhhhh… m-may m-multo ba dito sa bahay niyo?
TRACHYS
Oo nga. Kase kanina ang weird nung nangyari
KIMYONA
TRACHYS
(Rolls eyes)
Tsssss
TSUYOI
What do you mean guys?
ALL
(Oo) (Yes)
FONIAS

KIMYONA
As expected to a party girl
Scene 10
PARTY AT 12 AM

(Biglang bubukas ang pinto ng CR)
Sino yan? May tao ba diyan? Kuyang caretaker ikaw ba yan?
(May makikitang anino)
(Matatakot)
(Biglang haharap)
Sino ka?
KILLER
(Smirked)
(Hahampasin ng baseball si Bezdelnik)
BEZDELNIK
(Nahihilo)
Anong kailangan mo sa akin?
NARRATOR
The killer went closer and closer to Bezdelnik while the boy is trying to run away backward until he reached the wall and got trapped.
KILLER

BLOODY DEATH

Wala akong plano mag load pero nagpa load ako for him. Guys 5 am yon, pero di ako lumabas ha, buti may laman pa yung Paymaya ko haha. So ayun nag reply agad ako. Tinanong din niya past 10 am kung pamasok ako and then I asked kung bakit. Oo, hindi na ulit siya nag reply. Nakaka gago diba? Ako ang bilis ko sumagot but he keeps me left hanging lang.

Just my message for someone

At the closing of Paul’s Letter to Titus
he points to the significance of the treasure we hold in the space of the heart (inside, Anew)
[Chapter 3]
And remind them of this: respect the rulers and the courts. Obey them. Be ready to do what is good and honorable. Don’t tear down another person with your words. Instead, keep the peace, and be considerate. Be truly humble toward everyone because there was a time when we, too, were foolish, rebellious, and deceived—we were slaves to sensual cravings and pleasures; and we spent our lives being spiteful, envious, hated by many, and hating one another. But then something happened: God our Savior and His overpowering love and kindness for humankind entered our world; He came to save us. It’s not that we earned it by doing good works or righteous deeds; He came because He is merciful. He brought us out of our old ways of living to a new beginning through the washing of regeneration; and He made us completely new through the Holy Spirit, who was poured out in abundance through Jesus the Anointed, our Savior. All of this happened so that through His grace we would be accepted into God’s covenant family and appointed to be His heirs, full of the hope that comes from knowing you have eternal life. This is a faithful statement of what we believe.
Concerning this, I want you to put it out there boldly so that those who believe in God will be constant in doing the right things, which will benefit all of us. Listen, don’t get trapped in brainless debates; avoid competition over family trees or pedigrees; stay away from fights and disagreements over the law. They are a waste of your time. If a person is causing divisions in the community, warn him once; and if necessary, warn him twice. After that, avoid him completely because by then you are sure that you are dealing with a corrupt, sinful person. He is determined to condemn himself.
I am sending either Artemas or Tychicus to you. When one of them arrives, try your best to make your way to me at Nicopolis (I plan to spend the winter there). Do what you can to get Zenas (the lawyer) and Apollos on their way; make sure they have everything they need. Our people must learn to get involved when a need arises, particularly when the need is urgent. Teach them to do what is good so they won’t become unproductive members of the community.
Everyone with me sends his greetings. Greet all our friends in the faith. May grace be with all of you. [Amen.]
The Letter of Titus, Chapter 3 (The Voice)
Today’s paired chapter of the Testaments is the 5th chapter of First Chronicles that continues documenting the Family Tree of Israel:
[The Family of Reuben]
The family of Reuben the firstborn of Israel: Though Reuben was Israel’s firstborn, after he slept with his father’s concubine, a defiling act, his rights as the firstborn were passed on to the sons of Joseph son of Israel. He lost his “firstborn” place in the family tree. And even though Judah became the strongest of his brothers and King David eventually came from that family, the firstborn rights stayed with Joseph.
The sons of Reuben, firstborn of Israel: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
The descendants of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son, Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son, and Beerah his son, whom Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria took into exile. Beerah was the prince of the Reubenites.
Beerah’s brothers are listed in the family tree by families: first Jeiel, followed by Zechariah: then Bela son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel. Joel lived in the area from Aroer to Nebo and Baal Meon. His family occupied the land up to the edge of the desert that goes all the way to the Euphrates River, since their growing herds of livestock spilled out of Gilead. During Saul’s reign they fought and defeated the Hagrites; they then took over their tents and lived in them on the eastern frontier of Gilead.
The family of Gad were their neighbors in Bashan, as far as Salecah: Joel was the chief, Shapham the second-in-command, and then Janai, the judge in Bashan.
Their brothers, by families, were Michael, Meshullam, Sheba, Jorai, Jacan, Zia, and Eber—seven in all. These were the sons of Abihail son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz. Ahi son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, was head of their family.
The family of Gad lived in Gilead and Bashan, including the outlying villages and extending as far as the pastures of Sharon.
They were all written into the official family tree during the reigns of Jotham king of Judah and Jeroboam king of Israel.
The families of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh had 44,760 men trained for war—physically fit and skilled in handling shield, sword, and bow. They fought against the Hagrites, Jetur, Naphish, and Nodab. God helped them as they fought. God handed the Hagrites and all their allies over to them, because they cried out to him during the battle. God answered their prayers because they trusted him. They plundered the Hagrite herds and flocks: 50,000 camels, 250,000 sheep, and 2,000 donkeys. They also captured 100,000 people. Many were killed, because the battle was God’s. They lived in that country until the exile.
The half-tribe of Manasseh had a large population. They occupied the land from Bashan to Baal Hermon, that is, to Senir (Mount Hermon). The heads of their families were Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel—brave warriors, famous, and heads of their families. But they were not faithful to the God of their ancestors. They took up with the ungodly gods of the peoples of the land whom God had gotten rid of before they arrived. So the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria (Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria) to take the families of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh into exile. He deported them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and the river of Gozan. They’ve been there ever since.
The Book of 1st Chronicles, Chapter 5 (The Message)
my personal reading of the Scriptures for monday, january 4 of 2021 with a paired chapter from each Testament of the Bible, along with Today’s Psalms and Proverbs
A post by John Parsons about a pure Seed:
Shavuah tov, chaverim. Recall that the Promised Seed of Israel was to be born of a woman (Gen. 3:15), to dwell in the “tents of Shem” (Gen. 9:26) and descend from the line of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Gen. 12-28). Furthermore, as Jacob’s prophecy makes clear, the tribe of Judah would be known as Gur Aryeh (גּוּר אַרְיֵה), a "Young Lion," who would be praised, made victorious, and rule over the other tribes of Israel (Gen. 49:8-9). Indeed, from the royal tribe of Judah would come the Messiah (המשיח), the anointed King of Israel, whose authority would ultimately expand into a worldwide dominion (Gen. 49:10). As later prophecies clearly foretell, the great “Young Lion of the Tribe of Judah” is none other than Yeshua, God the Son, unto whom every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess, that He is indeed the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings (Deut. 10:17; Josh. 22:22; Psalm 72:11; Psalm 110:1; Isa. 45:22-23; Phil. 2:10-11, etc.).
The word Jew comes from Judah (יְהוּדָה), from the root (יָדָה) which means to "thank." From the name Judah was derived the later term "Jew" (which first appears after the destruction of the First Temple, see 2 Kings 16:6, and was later used in the Aramaic books of Ezra-Nehemiah). Leah used a "play on words" regarding her birth of her fourth son when she said she would “thank the LORD” (אוֹדֶה אֶת־יהוה), and therefore named her son "Judah" (see Gen. 29:35). I think Paul alluded to this in Rom. 2:28-29 by saying that an "inward" Jew is "one who praises (or thanks) God," and therefore it may be said that all those who thank the LORD in the truth are “spiritual Jews.” If you are "blood-related" to God by the Messiah through faith, you are "grafted in" to the covenants, promises, and blessings originally given to ethnic Israel, and are therefore a member of "God's household" in full standing (see Eph. 2:12-22).
Ultimately the question of whether you regard yourself as a "Jew" concerns your faith in God's personal love for you... Do you understand that you are accepted as God's dear child? As is repeatedly promised in the Torah, the blessing of Abraham is imparted to all the families of the earth because of the gift of life given in Yeshua (Gal. 3:14). Learn to know yourself, then, as the Lord knows you in the heart of his salvation... [Hebrew for Christians]

Jesus! What a Friend for Sinners
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.” (John 15:13-14)
Hymns sometimes lift our souls to heights undreamed of. Let us use the familiar hymn “Jesus! What a Friend for Sinners” these next few days to take us into scriptural truth. The refrain that accompanies each verse follows.
Hallelujah! what a Savior!
Hallelujah! what a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
He is with me to the end.
Hallelujah is sometimes translated “praise ye the Lord.” Praising God is a precious privilege to Christians. The Psalms often give praise to our great Lord and King, and this will continue throughout eternity. “And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God” (Revelation 19:1).
He is saving us from sin and its penalty. “Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him” (Hebrews 7:25), helping us in our journey through life. “Therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice” (Psalm 63:7). Through any peril, He is keeping us “by the power of God through faith unto salvation” (1 Peter 1:5) while loving us through it. In fact, “God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
We can be confident that He will keep us for all time. “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen” (Jude 1:24-25). JDM

to know the real God
and be known by Him, our Father and Creator.
A treasured point Paul makes in his Letter of Galatians with Today’s reading in chapter 4:
Let me show you the implications of this. As long as the heir is a minor, he has no advantage over the slave. Though legally he owns the entire inheritance, he is subject to tutors and administrators until whatever date the father has set for emancipation. That is the way it is with us: When we were minors, we were just like slaves ordered around by simple instructions (the tutors and administrators of this world), with no say in the conduct of our own lives.
But when the time arrived that was set by God the Father, God sent his Son, born among us of a woman, born under the conditions of the law so that he might redeem those of us who have been kidnapped by the law. Thus we have been set free to experience our rightful heritage. You can tell for sure that you are now fully adopted as his own children because God sent the Spirit of his Son into our lives crying out, “Papa! Father!” Doesn’t that privilege of intimate conversation with God make it plain that you are not a slave, but a child? And if you are a child, you’re also an heir, with complete access to the inheritance.
Earlier, before you knew God personally, you were enslaved to so-called gods that had nothing of the divine about them. But now that you know the real God—or rather since God knows you—how can you possibly subject yourselves again to those paper tigers? For that is exactly what you do when you are intimidated into scrupulously observing all the traditions, taboos, and superstitions associated with special days and seasons and years. I am afraid that all my hard work among you has gone up in a puff of smoke!
My dear friends, what I would really like you to do is try to put yourselves in my shoes to the same extent that I, when I was with you, put myself in yours. You were very sensitive and kind then. You did not come down on me personally. You were well aware that the reason I ended up preaching to you was that I was physically broken, and so, prevented from continuing my journey, I was forced to stop with you. That is how I came to preach to you.
And don’t you remember that even though taking in a sick guest was most troublesome for you, you chose to treat me as well as you would have treated an angel of God—as well as you would have treated Jesus himself if he had visited you? What has happened to the satisfaction you felt at that time? There were some of you then who, if possible, would have given your very eyes to me—that is how deeply you cared! And now have I suddenly become your enemy simply by telling you the truth? I can’t believe it.
Those heretical teachers go to great lengths to flatter you, but their motives are rotten. They want to shut you out of the free world of God’s grace so that you will always depend on them for approval and direction, making them feel important.
It is a good thing to be ardent in doing good, but not just when I am in your presence. Can’t you continue the same concern for both my person and my message when I am away from you that you had when I was with you? Do you know how I feel right now, and will feel until Christ’s life becomes visible in your lives? Like a mother in the pain of childbirth. Oh, I keep wishing that I was with you. Then I wouldn’t be reduced to this blunt, letter-writing language out of sheer frustration.
Tell me now, you who have become so enamored with the law: Have you paid close attention to that law? Abraham, remember, had two sons: one by the slave woman and one by the free woman. The son of the slave woman was born by human connivance; the son of the free woman was born by God’s promise. This illustrates the very thing we are dealing with now. The two births represent two ways of being in relationship with God. One is from Mount Sinai in Arabia. It corresponds with what is now going on in Jerusalem—a slave life, producing slaves as offspring. This is the way of Hagar. In contrast to that, there is an invisible Jerusalem, a free Jerusalem, and she is our mother—this is the way of Sarah. Remember what Isaiah wrote:
Rejoice, barren woman who bears no children,
shout and cry out, woman who has no birth pangs,
Because the children of the barren woman
now surpass the children of the chosen woman.
Isn’t it clear, friends, that you, like Isaac, are children of promise? In the days of Hagar and Sarah, the child who came from faithless connivance (Ishmael) harassed the child who came—empowered by the Spirit—from the faithful promise (Isaac). Isn’t it clear that the harassment you are now experiencing from the Jerusalem heretics follows that old pattern? There is a Scripture that tells us what to do: “Expel the slave mother with her son, for the slave son will not inherit with the free son.” Isn’t that conclusive? We are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.
The Letter of Galatians, Chapter 4 (The Message)
and paired with this is chapter 46 in the book of Genesis where we read of Joseph reuniting with his father Jacob (who was renamed Israel):
So Israel set out on the journey with everything he owned. He arrived at Beersheba and worshiped, offering sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.
God spoke to Israel in a vision that night: “Jacob! Jacob!”
“Yes?” he said. “I’m listening.”
God said, “I am the God of your father. Don’t be afraid of going down to Egypt. I’m going to make you a great nation there. I’ll go with you down to Egypt; I’ll also bring you back here. And when you die, Joseph will be with you; with his own hand he’ll close your eyes.”
Then Jacob left Beersheba. Israel’s sons loaded their father and their little ones and their wives on the wagons Pharaoh had sent to carry him. They arrived in Egypt with the livestock and the wealth they had accumulated in Canaan. Jacob brought everyone in his family with him—sons and grandsons, daughters and granddaughters. Everyone.
These are the names of the Israelites, Jacob and his descendants, who went to Egypt:
Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn.
Reuben’s sons: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
Simeon’s sons: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.
Levi’s sons: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
Judah’s sons: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (Er and Onan had already died in the land of Canaan). The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
Issachar’s sons: Tola, Puah, Jashub, and Shimron.
Zebulun’s sons: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.
These are the sons that Leah bore to Jacob in Paddan Aram. There was also his daughter Dinah. Altogether, sons and daughters, they numbered thirty-three.
Gad’s sons: Zephon, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli.
Asher’s sons: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, and Beria. Also their sister Serah, and Beriah’s sons, Heber and Malkiel.
These are the children that Zilpah, the maid that Laban gave to his daughter Leah, bore to Jacob—sixteen of them.
The sons of Jacob’s wife Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin. Joseph was the father of two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim, from his marriage to Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On. They were born to him in Egypt. Benjamin’s sons were Bela, Beker, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard.
These are the children born to Jacob through Rachel—fourteen.
Dan’s son: Hushim.
Naphtali’s sons: Jahziel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem.
These are the children born to Jacob through Bilhah, the maid Laban had given to his daughter Rachel—seven.
Summing up, all those who went down to Egypt with Jacob—his own children, not counting his sons’ wives—numbered sixty-six. Counting in the two sons born to Joseph in Egypt, the members of Jacob’s family who ended up in Egypt numbered seventy.
Jacob sent Judah on ahead to get directions to Goshen from Joseph. When they got to Goshen, Joseph gave orders for his chariot and went to Goshen to meet his father Israel. The moment Joseph saw him, he threw himself on his neck and wept. He wept a long time.
Israel said to Joseph, “I’m ready to die. I’ve looked into your face—you are indeed alive.”
Joseph then spoke to his brothers and his father’s family. “I’ll go and tell Pharaoh, ‘My brothers and my father’s family, all of whom lived in Canaan, have come to me. The men are shepherds; they’ve always made their living by raising livestock. And they’ve brought their flocks and herds with them, along with everything else they own.’ When Pharaoh calls you in and asks what kind of work you do, tell him, ‘Your servants have always kept livestock for as long as we can remember—we and our parents also.’ That way he’ll let you stay apart in the area of Goshen—for Egyptians look down on anyone who is a shepherd.”
