It's been over 2 years since I posted something here last. I've been still gardening in Las Vegas.

It's an interesting time we live in. I am one of those who got laid off due to COVID. My husband, too. It's been two months and 10 days. Future is not as certain as once I thought it was.

I thought I wanted to be a blogger. I thought

I wanted to be a content creater. I thought I wanted to try e-commerce.

None of that works unless I put myself 200% in it. Even then, it may not work. I admit, I haven't put even 100% into any of those I mentioned here.

I don't know why. I have not been as motivated as I want to be. No excuse though.

I was so tired of myself today that I felt like doing nothing. And somehow it lead me to my old Tumblr, which was all about my small veggie garden.

I feel like I never truly master anything. I do most of the things well but never become an expert of anything. But, one thing I haven't quit yet is gardening. I may not be an expert but my garden is thriving.

Maybe it's good for me to write here again. It will let me enjoy sharing my garden with anyone who may visit here. Share the beauty of growing our own foods.

Thank you for letting me go on and on about nothing. This quarantine lifestyle can get me sometimes...

This beautiful Harlequin stink bug is a perfect example. The average person wouldn’t think a thing about it, but I know it’s a sign of our planet in crisis. This tropical bug’s typical range is in much warmer climates, but as our temperature warms and our seasons lengthen, it has made its way here to us in Indiana. I’ve seen one or two in my 20+ years of gardening, but this year, we’ve got hundreds of them. Thankfully, they’ve just arrived in the past few weeks and being tropical, they are stupendously fragile to cold weather. The 39°F low tonight should slow them down and our first hard freeze will kill them completely. They can be absolute destructors for crops, so as pretty as they are, I’m not mad they’ll be gone soon. I am mad that we’re here in this situation. I am mad that if we don’t rectify this climate emergency, we’ll be constantly fighting new pests, new diseases, and a million other horrors we can’t even foresee. 06/06/2020: It's that time of the year! Basil time!

Instead of a typical pesto pasta, I made pest rice. Pine nuts are super expensive so I mixed in some squash in the pesto. I thought it will mellow the flavor and make it creamier and it sure did!

As a veggie grower, there is no better feeling than to cook what I grow. You know, some restaurants brag about being Farm-to-Table, but the truth is....my own Garden-to-Table is way more fresh and more satisfying.

Mmm...this pesto rice was so yummy I'm sure I'll make it again and again!
