When the fuck was anyone gonna tell me Ed Greenwood had a youtube channel [x] where he does shockingly well produced lore videos on little tidbits of the Forgotten Realms, straight from his home campaign to the greater rpg community.

Both of these videos related to Eilistraee and non-Lolth sworn drow settlements are a godsend. Visiting Imberlur someday would be a dream come true for my Tav, and I can totally see an astral projection trip into Eilistraee's court when she reaches the climax of her story, similar to how Gale had a one-on-one with Mystra towards the end.

Thank you Ed your little side stories are worth their weight in gold while WotC continues to do nothing with these elements that have been around for literally over 30 years.

can the "finding your art style" discussion finally end because it does nothing but feeds people's insecurity and obsession with finding something... that they already have?

i've been there, trust me. growing up i was obsessed with "finding" my own art style. but you know what it only did? it made me almost quit drawing altogether on many occasions when in reality i already had one.

an art style is how you interpret everything around you through the act of creation. it's how you draw right now. it's how you place the lines. your line-weight. it's how you draw the eyes. it's how you shade.

an art style grows with you. it grows with your improvement. of course you can explore and bump it up by testing bits and pieces from art you love. but you don't add those bits to nothing. you add to what you already have, to the art style you already have. it's how you draw.

You could argue that influencers more or less chose to do this though. Truman didn't know and was gaslit the whole time by paid actors. The mental toll it takes on someone would probably be about the same, though.

​influencers themselves, sure - but their kids certainly didn't sign up for this, and aren't old enough to consent to it. the amount of "family" youtube channels that involve staged scenarios, centering on the reactions of children? horrifying.

so many kids now have their entire childhoods broadcast for the entertainment and profits of others, and that kind of shit will fuck them up, especially if the videos are still around when they're adults.

like, I said all sorts of stupid shit when I was a kid! because I was a kid! and if I had had a camera pointed at me 24/7, and a parent that made money off of my actions and reactions, that would have made the experience...hell, pretty much. just, a nightmare world where I could never grow and escape from childhood mistakes, because they'd be preserved for anyone in the world to see.

Another recent add to the list of songs that make me think of my Valicer In The Dark AU! Admittedly, I wasn't entirely sure why at first -- my brain just went "yes, this has the right vibes" one day. XD But after a few more listens, I've decided the lyrics DO fit the VITD crew rather well. Stuff like "Some days will be harder than others/so we gotta lean on each other" describes their dynamic well, while the pre-chorus "We're living in a world unfair/We're living in a world so scared" is an excellent description of Duskwall, and especially their adopted neighborhood of Six Towers (which is essentially a big old slum made out of abandoned rich people houses). And the chorus! Not only do you have to be fearless to be a scoundrel in Duskwall, it suits their own personal situations well -- conquering their personal demons and discovering how happy they can be together. :D Plus it's one of those songs where I can easily make up my own mental music video of the gang having adventures to the lyrics, so -- yeah. Good stuff all around, can recommend. :)
