Grooms Wear Trends for 2024
Tumblr media
If you are planning to tie the knot in 2024, you might be wondering what to wear as a groom. Here are some of the latest trends in grooms wear that will make you look stylish and confident on your big day. - Colourful suits: Gone are the days when grooms had to stick to black or grey suits. In 2024, expect to see more grooms wearing suits in bold and vibrant colours, such as deep sapphire blue, forest green, dark purple, maroon, and teal. These colours will add some personality and flair to your look, and also complement your wedding theme and décor. You can also opt for pastel shades, such as mint, lavender, or peach, for a softer and more romantic vibe. - Three-piece suits: A three-piece suit is a timeless and elegant choice for any groom. It consists of a jacket, a vest, and trousers, all in the same fabric and colour. A three-piece suit will give you a polished and sophisticated appearance, and also allow you to take off your jacket without losing your style. You can also mix and match different fabrics and colours for your vest and jacket, such as velvet, jacquard, or tweed, for a more modern and creative look. - Eco-friendly fabrics: Sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a lifestyle choice that many grooms are embracing in 2024. Instead of synthetic fabrics that are harmful to the environment, grooms are choosing suits made from natural and organic fabrics, such as silk, cotton, linen, hemp, charmeuse, or recycled polyester. These fabrics are not only eco-friendly, but also breathable and light, which will keep you comfortable and cool throughout your wedding day. - Monochromatic accessories: To complete your groomswear outfit, you will need some accessories, such as a tie, a pocket square, a belt, shoes, socks, and cufflinks. One of the trends for 2024 is to match your accessories with the colour of your suit, creating a monochromatic look that is sleek and harmonious. You can also play with different textures and patterns for your accessories, such as micro prints, textured jacquards, or velvet options. These are some of the grooms wear trends for 2024 that will make you stand out from the crowd and impress your bride. Remember to choose a suit that fits you well, reflects your personality, and suits the occasion. 7 Indian Groom Fashion Ideas For Your Wedding Ceremonies
When it comes to weddings, bridal trends capture half of our attention, and there are countless articles and blogs that provide information on the latest trends and styles for the bride. But why should a bride receive all the attention and compliments? The groom's fashion has evolved in tandem with the bridal fashion over the years. Colors, silhouettes, styles, and accessories have all changed, and we're here to help you navigate it all.
Tumblr media
A Guide to Indian Groom Fashion and Traditions
The Indian groom's attire is no longer limited to traditional kurta pajamas or handloom lungi online or a black-tie suit for the reception party. Men nowadays are conscious and aware of current trends. Just as we've seen brides who like to experiment and go for something different, men want to look their best on their wedding day. If you are a groom-to-be, here are some outfit options for your wedding events that you can choose from without wasting time.
1. The Classic Sherwani
Sherwani is a traditional ethnic wear for men that is appropriate for almost any cultural event or festival. It is a knee-length button-down jacket worn over a kurta and paired with a flared trouser, pajama, or dhoti. There are numerous options available, including fabric, silhouette, embellishments, embroideries, and how the sherwani is styled. When you see a groom in a sherwani, you get a royal and elegant vibe.
If you like to experiment, try floral prints or a velvet fabric sherwani, and finish the look with a beautiful shawl or stole. If you do not have a stole or shawl, choose a safa with a long tail.
2. Angrakha Kurta
The angrakha kurta is ideal for the groom who prefers a sophisticated style with a unique element to make their entire look stand out. Angrakha can be worn with a straight A-line, an asymmetrical cut, or a flowy Manarkali style cut. A pair of dhotis looks fantastic with the knee-length Angrakha. You can also pair it with flared or sharara pants.
3. Jodhpuri Suits
Nothing beats Jodhpuri suits when it comes to elegant groomswear. Any man wearing this exudes a chic and royal appearance. It is classified as Indo-western wear because it is influenced by western tailoring techniques and Indian bandhgala jackets. The collars are high, and the suits are not embellished in general, but are rich in fabric and texture, and are paired with tailored fitted trousers. There is a place for pocket squares that reflect the western side, and you can complete your look with accessories such as pocket chains, necklaces, cufflinks, embellished buttons, and so on, and finish with formal shoes or Indian jootis.
4. Draped Asymmetric Kurta
The draped kurta is ideal for grooms who do not want to carry a stole or shawl but want to add a flowy touch to their look. The drape can resemble a pleated fabric hanging from one or both shoulders. The lower side of the kurta with white cotton lungi online has a cowl structure, which gives this kurta a distinct look. You can wear it with Nehru jackets, bandhgala waistcoats, or even long jackets, and for pants, go for fitted trousers.
5. Bandhgala Suit
We've all heard of Bandhgala coats or short button-down kurtas to wear over long kurtas or Manarkalis, but this time we're talking about calf-length Bandhgala suits, which are popular among Indian grooms. You can't possibly go wrong with this suit. When you can't think of anything else to wear, this is your go-to outfit. You can select from a wide range of colors, fabrics, and even prints or embellishments.
Choose a Bandhgala suit in a solid color, pair it with off-white or printed safa, and finish the look with a brooch or a neckpiece.
6. Kurtas
A kurta is yet another traditional outfit for Indian men. This is a no-brainer outfit that requires no styling. A kurta is a fashion statement that will never go out of style. You can wear it with anything and everything and look fantastic! A simple kurta pajama with trousers or a dhoti is a popular yet stylish ethnic wear for men.
A kurta with denim pants is also popular these days, but as a groom, flared trousers or a churidar look best.
A kurta with dhoti pants or patiala salwar looks good, but adding a stole elevates the look.
You can also wear a basic kurta with printed waistcoats, short bandhgalas or angrakhas, or with a shawl.
7. South Indian Dhoti with Silk Shirt
How can we discuss Indian groom fashion without mentioning the South Indian groom style? South Indian wedding fashion differs from that of most other communities, as do their outfits. Their go-to groom attire is a silk white shirt with a white dhoti or lungi. And the simplicity of this attire is what distinguishes it as special and unique, perfectly complementing the traditional South Indian bridal ensemble. Sometimes the groom foregoes the simple shirt in favor of a short kurta or achkan that matches the dhoti or lungi. The key is to style it your way while retaining the essence of traditional attire.
Conclusion
It is not true that grooms have fewer options than brides. Indian fashion, particularly wedding fashion, has evolved over time, and there is no longer a rulebook to follow. Designers are creating fashionable groomswear and accessories for men to select and style for their wedding events. Where designers are making a name for themselves, men are generally concerned with their appearance at weddings. They are just as invested as the bride in looking and feeling good.
We hope this Groom fashion guide assists you in determining your outfit and determining your style for each event at your wedding and capturing all of the attention because, after all, why should girls have all of the fun?

Trending Fashion for Indian Grooms
Although there are numerous articles on bridal attire for their wedding day, we cannot deny that today's Indian grooms know how to share the spotlight with their brides with an elevated sense of style. Those who married last year may be filled with resentment, because 2022 will be the year in which grooms will be highlighted. Brides may ultimately steal the show, but their better halves will give them a run for their money, as their wedding outfits have become more stylish, conscious, and sartorially experimental than ever before.
Tumblr media
Indian men have an instinctive raw look that goes well with everything they wear, but to complement their sharp features and personality, they should choose something that brings out their natural charm. An Indian groom's attire is more formal and offers more options than his western counterparts, who are typically seen in a standard tuxedo. Grooms can coordinate colors, choose silhouettes, wear prints, and go completely flamboyant if they want to. They can wear traditional sherwanis and handloom lungi, kurta-pyjamas, dhoti kurtas, indo-western suits, Jodhpuri Bandhgalas, riding breeches, or even a classic three piece suit. The modern groom is open to new looks and willing to change their image.
Most grooms are unsure about what to wear in wedding events
Most grooms are unsure about what to wear to other wedding-related events without going overboard in order to make an impression on the wedding day. Certain looks work well for specific occasions, such as a bachelor party, such as an embroidered waist coat with a shirt and trousers or an ethnic blazer with a basic black t-shirt and denims. Cocktail attire can be bold and edgy, ranging from geometric to retro prints that make a statement. The puja is usually held during the day, so a short embroidered kurta with a printed or jute finish Nehru jacket and trousers is ideal for the carefree groom. The sangeet function can be a bandhgala in a bright color with surface ornamentation paired with a cool patiala that will definitely catch the eye of those with refined tastes.
The wedding ensemble refers to saving the best outfit for that special day. Sherwani is a classic with a traditional aura for Indian grooms and comes in a variety of colors and prints ranging from creams and beige to trendy colors and prints. Sherwanis with a lot of embellishment are paired with neutral churidars. Churidars, on the other hand, are reversing roles with embroidery or prints against a minimalist sherwani top. Modern sherwanis' silhouettes are also becoming more edgy, with elaborate layers. Grooms can go for a regal look by accentuating their sherwanis with exquisite brooches and tiered necklaces, or they can go for a sleek contemporary look.
Groomswear goes through distinct trends over time
Groomswear, like reception attire, goes through distinct trends over time. In recent years, the general trend in groomswear has been toward more casual and individual styles. The right attire for your reception must be a combination of personal taste, time of day, and wedding style. Variations and edgy treatments to the western classic three piece suit are a popular choice in India, particularly for wedding receptions.
The outfit options for Indian grooms are expanding on a daily basis, demonstrating that men are equally concerned with their appearance. Modern style trends cater to all sensibilities, whether you prefer timeless outfits or outfits with an element of surprise. Get these fashion trends from us, and you'll look like a dapper Indian Groom on your wedding day.
Lightweight Sherwani’s for Men
It's not just about trends; it's also about where Indian fashion is going. Men's ethnic fashion has evolved in recent years, from neutral colors to subtle sherwanis to a growing emphasis on accessories. Men wore heavily embroidered sherwanis over cotton vest and opulent accessories such as safa, jeweled broaches, kalangis, mojris, and neck pieces in the past. The trend for the modern man has shifted to precise embroideries, exclusive handmade buttons, trim details, and richer fabrics. The silhouettes are clean, classic, and more versatile, allowing the outfit to be worn on multiple occasions. Today's generation demands exclusivity, regardless of the cost.
Summer defines the very essence of an Indian wedding, with vibrant colors embodying the vivacious ceremonies and rituals. Summer weddings are breathtaking. But, with the soaring temperatures and sizzling heat, doesn't the mere thought of donning a heavy sherwani or any lavish outfit to wear to a wedding cause perspiration? The following is a guide to help the dashing men survive summer weddings in style.
Bandhgala Sherwanis are in
This season, Bandhgala Sherwanis with unique detailing like tonal embroidery, innovative cuts, and tailor-made fit are in. Men are no longer dressed in brocade and heavily embroidered sherwanis; instead, they prefer printed or textured jacquard silk, art silk, jute silk, and embossed fabrics. This summer is all about the right mix of neutral/softer color palettes. Men nowadays are willing to try new colors such as light orange, vibrant shades of blue, rust, and maroon. Classic handcrafted shoes, brooches, and pocket squares are the perfect additions to an otherwise classic ensemble. The proper amount of accessories makes a charming impression.
Wear what flatters you, be comfortable in your own skin, and incorporate your own personality and style into your wedding ensemble. Remember that style is an individual thing. You don't have to look to male models for ideas. Be your own role model. Why should the sun and heat ruin this auspicious occasion? Put those summertime blues behind you and make the most of this special day.

Dark and Dramatic Wedding Inspiration at Kilworth House
The general trend for wedding styling tends to be light or bright colours, so I love it when a shoot arrives in my inbox that’s dark and offers something different. That’s exactly why I love the pictures of this dark and dramatic wedding inspiration at Kilworth House in Leicestershire.
The creative team wanted to show couples alternatives to pretty pinks and rose gold, and the paler shades of weddings. If you are one of those couples looking for something more alternative then you will love this! With dark hues, dim lighting and the timeless, elegant backdrop of Kilworth House, this dark and dramatic wedding styling comes alive.
Taking inspiration from TV dramas The Crown and Victoria, the talented team used styling elements in keeping with that era. The tablescape with dark blue table linen, gold chargers, cutlery and candlestick holders, and hand lettering table numbers and menu cards, looks moody yet inviting. The dark green foliage table runner and single-stem spring flowers finish off the simple and elegant look beautifully.
I love the watercolour trend, so I especially love the stationery suite with its elegant font and splashes of blue watercolour. White Cottage Weddings also used a cute drawing of Kilworth House on the envelope liner (I do love an envelope liner!).
Another love of mine is gold leaf, so I adore the wedding cake. A pop of gold leaf running down the tiers of the cake brings the dark blue shade to life, and this styling carries over to the cake pops and macarons.
If you’re looking for a bridal style from a bygone era, then I’m sure this bride’s style will wow you just like it did me. The fabulous wedding dress designer Eliza Jane Howell kindly lent the team a selection of wedding dresses for the shoot. Each dress looks fabulous with the dark styling concept and fits perfectly with the era. Even the name of the dress collection, ‘The Leading Lady’, gives a nod to the styling. The groom also looks pretty dapper, wearing smart suits from Stephen Bishop Suiting, one of The Wedding Community’s very own groomswear experts.
I have such passion for these wedding ideas in dark, dramatic hues of blue with pops of gold. Rubie Love Photography had the wonderful job of capturing the shoot, and I hope you love it too…
From Another Era
“The shoot concept focused on something a bit richer and darker from the norm. Our whole objective was to show brides and grooms they can think outside of the usual paler and prettier wedding styles and go for something a bit darker and dramatic. I am also a huge fan of The Crown and Victoria, especially the style of filming, and wanted to create something with a little inspiration from those two dramas. Colourwise we wanted really rich tones, and our amazing team brought the indigo and gold to life.
“The stunning and incredibly welcoming venue, Kilworth House, fitted perfectly with what we were aiming for. From the orangery to their luxurious drawing rooms and gorgeous staircase, we had a huge variety of locations to work with.
“I was so happy when Eliza Jane Howell offered us so many of their samples to work with. Her dresses are stunning and so different; they also have that ‘from another era’ feel. I am also in love with their jumpsuit!”
Different Looks
“Debbie our hair and make-up artist was amazing, and gave us a variety of different looks for each of the dresses. Also, a big shout out to HoneyV for the wide range of accessories which allowed us to be really creative.
“Our models, Louise and Jamie, were wonderful to work with and suited the look we wanted perfectly. I also could not be more grateful to Stephen Bishop Suiting for the three different suits. I was especially happy to see the white dicky bow, something Matt Smith regularly wears when playing Prince Philip in The Crown.”
