A buddy Grogu knew from work had talked about all those comic books and movies in the new library, and had begged Grogu to go there with him sometime soon. Ideally, right in that moment, but Grogu had told his buddy he could not go, and that he had promised Din to get back home again quickly. Well, so much for that.

"I ran into someone and we talked," He said while placing the bags full of groceries on the kitchen counter. "If we would have those... oh, right, the word was mobile phones! Well, I would have texted you, if we would have those. But then it was late already, and I thought you most likely went to bed anyway, and all of that?"

Grogu was eating, which wasn't all that surprising since many people thought he couldn't really take care of himself. To him, it was amusing that some of the older folk around town were always inviting him over, something about them wanting to get some meat on his bones, especially due to the weather. It was also one of the reasons why he was wearing hand-knitted fingerless gloves because he couldn't say no to the sweet older woman who said he reminded her of her own son. While he ate, he was also practicing with the force. The force flowing through him felt familiar, but also different in a way because his body was different. He didn't look much like the same species as Master Yoda anymore, he was more humanoid like his father, Din. His brows furrowed as he concentrated on moving the silver ball, one that he'd been practicing on since he was on the Razor Crest. Grogu perked up when he heard footsteps, before his hand was navigating the ball towards the sound, as he called out to the visitor. "Who is it?"

❝ 𝐖𝐀𝐈𝐓 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄, ❞ din said with a meaningful point at the little boy’s even button nose. the impenetrable promise of shining beskar didn’t counter the caution in his steps as the mandalorian descended into a rill of black water.

      waist high, din audibly shuddered as the stagnant water soaked through the layers of protective material. the innermost lining did its job, protecting his skin from the invasive moisture at the cost of chilling his skin. above him, the tunnel’s low ceiling glowed with shifting waves of cyan. curiously din waded closer. the reflective surface of his viewplate lit up as an outstretched hand closed the distance.

      the glow, revealing itself to be a reactive organism, dispersed with a startle when the mandalorian planted a hand on the stone. plunged into darkness, din remained perfectly still as his helmet’s ocular settings automatically adjusted the sudden lack of light. from his peripherals he watched as the tiny cyan lights peeked between stalactites. curiously the lights returned and swarmed around the intruding hand, outlining the five digit shape in a circlet of brilliant blue.

      din tilted his steel chin over his shoulder, a fond smile pronounced in his voice. ❝ wanna see? ❞

      purposefully, the mandalorian removed his hand and returned to the boulder where’d left his son. with tender hands so accustomed to cradling weaponry, din retrieved grogu and returned to the cluster of bioluminescent beings.

      there was a brief hesitation on the wade back that his glove shielded din from some unseen threat the lifeforms posed. were they poisonous? would they burn grogu’s bare skin? what if the whatever they were secreted something that had penetrated the fibers and was now slowly killing him? a ghoulish end he might now be delivering his son.

      but the twinkling twin mirrors of the boy’s eyes urged the mandalorian forward. a voice in his head reminding him that his place was to protect his foundling from death, not life.

      ❝ not too fast, ❞ instructed din, lifting the young explorer towards the ripples waiting to greet him, ❝ you’ll scare them. ❞

.｡.:*☆ "Well, the people from my kind did look similar as well, usually." Grogu only knew from secondhand-stories, though. From Master Luke telling him about Master Yoda, because, Grogu himself did actually not remember that much. So, he could not be exactly sure. But well, it was as it was.

"Yet, we are usually not looking like twins. So, yeah, maybe it is really this planet. It wants to fuck with our heads, I am sure." Grogu made a face. His life here was not that bad, surely. Yet, he could not deny that a lot of strange things were going on, still.

"I am Grogu," Now he was smiling again, offering his hand for a shake. "Nice to meet you then, Sebastian."

.｡.:*☆ “Why thank you!” Grogu practially beamed at the praise. When he was younger - and still living in his other body - he had never been good at many things expect causing trouble. At least, according to his father. And later, sometimes, Master Luke. However, now Grogu was tall, and human, and had learned about many cool things he could do in this human body. Like cool stunts and tricks with what a other guy had told him was a skateboard. Self-build and a little wonky, but Grogu had managed to learn how to use it. Okay, maybe he had cheated a bit by using his yedi powers, but still...

“It is about control, most likely,” He then told the young woman. “And you have to trust yourself when you jump. Or, trust your body in general. It is capable of a lot of things. More than you maybe can imagine.”

.｡.:*☆ If Grogu had to be honest, he had to admit often finding himself unable to arrive somewhere in time. Master Luke had always scolded him for that, but it was something the young man still struggled to grow out of.

Thankfully, it was not cold, at least. With some bags in his arms, he hurried through the streets of Sydney, a rush of warmth running through him when realizing the light in Din’s place was still shining. His dad obviously had wanted to make sure Grogu would arrive safely, no matter how late it would be.

“Dad?” He pushed the door open with his foot, glancing around. “Dad, I am home! Are you still awake?”

.｡.:*☆ "Eight feet? Wow...." Grogu blinked, looking up and trying to imagine someone being as tall as that. "Than you are even taller than a Wookiee!" Grogu had only met a handful of them. But those had been usually pretty tall already. And pretty scary as well, in some cases. Like the one that had been fighting with Din this one time....

"Me? Well, I was not blue, I was green with pretty wrinkly skin. And only a baby back in my world, so only 1 feet one inch tall, actually." And having to admit that now made him blush, for some reason. "But, my ears had been this big," Grogu then had to add, chuckling and making a gesture with his arms outstretched. He was certainly exaggerating things a little here.

.｡.:*☆ Grogu considered himself as being fairly clever, actually. Like, otherwise, he would not have been able to survive his adventures both with and without Din, right? And he had been able to adapt to being human, and to his life in Sydney. But now, Grogu had been pulled out of this life again, it seemed? Like, this place did not seem like anything he would expect to find in Australia, really. But then, what did Grogu really know, right?

Sighing, Grogu started to wander around and yell random things - like ‘hello? and ‘anyone here?’ and it was echoing from the walls and almost made him jump the first times it happened. Good thing it was usually not easy to scare Grogu, right?

“Hello?” He called again, rounding another corner. Hoping he actually was not the only one being stuck in this goddamn place....

.｡.:*☆ If someone would ask Grogu to choose between Din and Master Skywalker, he would pick the mandelorian without a second thought. Luke Skywalker was a great teacher, sure. But Din was his father. Din cared for Grogu, and had saved the kid countless times even without having to. He’d even lost his ship over it.

Not to mention, the way Grogu grew up in Sydney - the way he thought he’d grown up here - did not make it much better. So, after a shitty shift at a shitty job, nursing a shitty sandwich, grogu was scanning the streets. And then, the sandwich fell, and his eyes turned wide.

“Dad....?!?” He blurted out. For sure loud enough so the other would actually hear him.

.｡.:*☆ “I do look like an idiot like this...” While Grogu should be used to clothing - at least his fake memories were telling him so - he always had troubles choosing something. Whatever he picked always made his feel like he would dress up like someone else.

“Sir, what do you think, how do I...” He turned, and then his eyes grew suddenly wild. “Dad?!?”

.｡.:*☆ If Master Luke or Din would ask, he would never openly admit it, but, Grogu missed his Jedi training. He was feeling restless since not working out daily anymore. Which, maybe, was the reason why he had decided to try out the gym.

He was just battling against a punching bag, when letting his guard down - and, as a result, he landed on his ass after kicking the back with his foot.

“Ouch....” Grogu winced. “That did not go as planned, I fear....” He looked around, wondering if anyone had spotted him failing like this, maybe.
