Domestic Grimes 2.0 - Richonne sighting

It wasn't unusual to see Rick and Michonne walking their kids to school every morning since their return. But for a while, it was only Rick seeing the kids off to school. Until one morning, the Grimes Family finally emerged with a very rotund mama Michonne.

The doctor finally released Michonne from bed rest. Morning sickness is no fun! Mama and the twins will be fine.

(We knew this was going to happen, right? We weren't surprised. I mean they were going at it like rabbits.....) I'm sure the community wasn't surprised either!

This was inspired by @blacklitchick fic ME & YOU fic where Michonne took a long nap --about an hour and a half nap (due to their mid-morning delight). I was thinking, it could have been that, or ........

Rick was in love with his son’s best friend. Michonne was in love with her best friend’s dad. 😊

It’s cute thinking that, before 6.10, Rick and Michonne probably both were hesitant to act on their feelings for each other based on how Carl might feel about it - only for Carl to be immediately on board and not surprised in the slightest once they got together 😋

I love how much Richonne loves their eldest son, and how Carl has always played a huge part in Rick and Michonne’s love story. Since the moment Rick and Michonne laid eyes on each other, Carl was there helping bring them together and ultimately helping them realize they were meant to be family. And years later, even from the other side, Carl helped bring Rick and Michonne together again. 🥲

Going in blind for every episode for #TheOnesWhoLive was hard but the right move! I am so happy right now! This is exactly I wanted for #Richonne. Like everything. Dude. Do you see what good writing can do? What it creates? Damn!

A Season 2 isn't needed but it is wanted for #TheOnesWhoLive but I'm cool with this just being a miniseries. THE WRITERS understood the assignment and it shows. All I know is that #Richonne and the #GrimesFamily got the ending they've deserved

You know what. I think Rosé and Bruno Mars's APT song is cute and there's something very 2010s Tumblr about it. Like a cleaned up indie-garage sleaze. It's fun and light and cute. The criticism people have for it is so over the top and since when was she a "B-tier celebrity"? Please, let's not diminish how popular Blackpink are okay? Bruno isn't just doing her a favour. It's rude to imply she's irrelevant.

But anyways, it's okay Kim Jisoo, you still have the best Blackpink solo song.

Exactly! Michonne and Sydney swoop in at critical moments in these families’ lives and don’t set out to be saviors, they just naturally are. It starts of as Imm help you and your people survive. Then it’s I’m going to support you heal. Then I’m going to be your co-leader. Then, it’s I’m going to be your lover. But all the while it’s healing them at the same time. It’s one sided at first because the women are stronger but by the time they really come together on all levels, the men become critical for them as well and are ready to support them back in the way they need. And that’s because the women stuck it out when the men where at their worst, challenged them, gave them a reason to keep going and so they get strong enough to earn these women and be able to give back in the way they deserve. The process is messy but the reward is a new family, a new way forward, demons killed, and epic love.

Redefining Family through partnerships: Grimes and Berzattos 2.0

Something I remembered about Rick and Michonne ship from The Walking Dead's slow burn that confirmed it was endgame, for me at least - it was how heavily involved Michonne was with the Grimes family.

Michonne played an important role in the family and there were small moments that showed she healed The Grimes of their grief and vice versa. Sound familiar? Rick lost his wife and his partner . (Side note but the 'lack' of romance but partnerships is heavy in the bear and I gotta talk about that later)

But anyway, Rick lost his wife and partner and Michonne lost her son and partner. They became the missing piece in each others lives.

They didnt just fulfill the absent roles but Michonne and Rick redefined their sense of family from what was broken before. With this new family, communication was better, they actually talked out their problems. It became the partnership Rick didn't have with Shane, and michonne's closeness to carl fulfilled what could have been with her son.

This reminds me of Syd and her involvement with the Berzatto family. Like michonne, she unintentionally heals this broken family just by being herself. Syd helps heal the chaos in The Beef restaurant season 1. She meets the needs of Natalie by checking up on her, and she holds Richie accountable and sees through his bullshit. Syd holds Carmy to a standard where they can let go of the toxicity and redefine their family to a more forgiving and functional place to work.

One of the many problems with the Berzattos is not checking in on each other. Not communicating their needs. The choice to isolate is easier. They can't let go of the past. Unresolved emotional experiences. Unfortunately Mike succumbed to these issues so Carmy lost his best friend and partner.

Syd is the only child. She doesn't know what it's like to have a sister, and she doesn't have a big family like Carmy. She's never had a partner.

With the Berzattos 2.0, there's peace even when there's conflict. There's forgiveness. Syd and Carmy are partners (and will be in every sense of the word in later seasons)

This confirms the ship for me. Why take this time for Syd to interact with the members of The Berzattos and confirm she's now family?

Because this show amongst many things is about family. The Berzattos 2.0 redefine what family could be outside the trauma and dysfunction.
