#28: The Callout Kiss & Officially Rekindled Kiss (1.04)

Episode 4 is an abundance of riches, with stellar acting, writing, and more. It also gave Richonne some of their absolute best kiss scenes. 🔥 We’ll be raving about them all on this list, but starting with these two that I felt were a tie. When they're in bed and Rick brings up essentially not going home so that he can change the CRM, there's a lot of ways Michonne could have reacted to that, but the way she chooses is so heartwarming. I love the meaningfulness of Michonne first responding with a kiss and showing Rick this affection even after he just brought up something that hurts her. Rick had been putting Michonne through an emotional roller coaster this episode and it could have been so easy and understandable for her to have an irritated response to Rick’s CRM comments in bed. But instead, Michonne shows such a beautiful display of empathy and care when she takes Rick's face and kisses him.

She loves him and sees him and she understands this behavior from him is coming from a place of trauma. It’s powerful to see her choose her love for Rick over her hurt by Rick with this kiss. And then she still gives him a necessary dose of honesty by noting that he’s still lying to her and to himself. As I so often like to say - Rick has himself a wife who is stunningly beautiful and extremely good at both empathy and accountability and that was all evident in this moment where Michonne manages to show Rick genuine love without also downplaying the hurt and dishonesty in his words. And then there's the kiss that caps off this exceptional bedroom scene. I love the way the kiss is filmed - from them both in black, the framing, lighting, and just the magnetism of it all. They were already as deeply in love as possible but I like how they kiss here like they've managed to somehow fall even more in love after their powerful heart-to-heart in this apartment. Richonne kisses really are an effective form of communication between them. So by sealing this moving conversation with a kiss, they don't even need any more words to perfectly confirm to each other that they're officially rekindled and ready to go home together. ♥️

For those of you following the dreary saga of why Richonne is my favorite mental health bandaid, I am pleased to report that my mother is scheduled for hip replacement surgery in a couple of weeks. It's good news, but it's still a very stressful time, and she'll need a ton of help afterwards, so I don't know how much I'll be drawing in that time. As always, your kind feedback is much appreciated, as it slaps on extra bandaids. 🥰🩹🩹🩹

Today we join Rick and Michonne on a typical, relaxed early morning. Because it is a day ending in Y, Rick absolutely cannot keep his hands to himself. He is, after all, eternally grateful to the incredible sexy angel who brought him home. Fortunately, Michonne is also an insatiable horndog, and wouldn't have it any other way.

It's such a sweet and nurturing gesture that conveys how much she loves and cherishes him. A small, yet intimate display of her love that means so much to Rick. I love his face in this picture, especially because you can see him just soaking it all up and he's feeling so appreciated, seen, and cared for. It's written all over his face. He knows Michonne loves him very much and he's basking in it. He gives so much of himself to others and he never asks for anything in return. He deserves to feel loved and cherished without conditions. And Michonne gives him this so freely and unconditionally. I am so happy that he can bathe in her good loving. I am glad they found their soul partner and that they get to love on each other for as long as they can, while they can...

And I seriously need to take notes from Michonne...

Chapter 8 and the Grimes Family

Chapter 8 of Tell Me Where Your Love Lies is up!

As I've said before, I was spoiled enough to get to watch The Ones Who Live before I watched The Walking Dead, and watching Michonne hand that phone to Rick and seeing his response, I remember pausing to ask, "Should I go figure out what the hellll happened to Carl?" OBVIOUSLY, at that point, I was just too deep to turn it off, so I stayed the course, but when I went back, all the little pieces clicked into place.

I love the Grimes Family, and I realized that I loved them as a family long before Rick and Michonne went canon as a romantic couple.

I had someone say to me once, "I want to write a fic, but I don't know what I would write." I told them they should write about anything they wish they'd seen because that's what happens when we read them. I also told them to write a fic that you would want to read because it's a story you'll want to finish.

In my case, I want to see the Grimes Family doing the most regular, mundane things - like enjoying dinner as a family (sans RJ because while he's not there, I am starting to feel really guilty that I haven't included him - so just know he's there in spirit).

“I was preoccupied shooting the episode before [the midseason premiere] and Danai wasn’t on set for a couple days. When she came on set, she was weird — she wasn’t making eye contact and was a bit strange. I asked what was wrong and she asked if I’d read [this episode] yet. I said, “What do you mean? I was trying to save the world from the zombie apocalypse, what do you mean? I haven’t had a chance to read it!” She said read the script. I sat there and screamed when I read it. I ran to her trailer, banged on her door and screamed, “Why didn’t you tell me?!” It’s insane and I loved it! It is a strange experience because their relationship for so long — as friends and as actors — we’ve been playing a certain complicated, difficult, respectful and loving almost familial relationship. And to step through the portal into this new place was really trippy. Danai was brilliant and so funny on set and said, “Let’s just go for this; I don’t want to talk about it too much. Let’s just go for it.” We wanted it to be these two grownups and warriors who love and respect each other. That’s a given. And then they get completely surprised in this moment. And then they look at each other and say, “Of course.” That was the transition that we wanted: for it to be sexy, committed and key. We wanted it to be different and grown up and very relaxed and natural. That’s what we were fighting for. It’s that kiss it’s the kiss and to capture that was key.”-Andrew Lincoln

Love to see black women in love and being love on CORRECTLY

I’ve watched Castlevania Nocturne and they operated a mini slow burn rather well according to my insomnia state brain…🤣 I binged S2 2 nights in a row

Vampires/ Fantasy / French and Haitian Revolutions/ Haitian (St Domingue) spirituality/some haitian creole/ black women protagonist AND antagonist…In brief that first episode left me interested.

Never played the game but wanted to see what was the fuss about that Richette ship.

People were making polls on who was the number 1 yearner on twitter and Rick MF Grimes was losing 🤯

Plus I was intrigued by their ship name and some other similarities:

Big brown eyed woman with locks with a french origin name ANNETTE + Blue eyed man with a germanic name RICHTER = RICHETTE 🧐🤔

It was entertaining, could almost have been a younger Richonne vampire AU fanfic 🤭

IMO It could have benefited from more episodes (to explore more in depth the characters and locations they took us to: France, St Domingue, Egypt) but they finished it properly

Special mention for the last 2 or 3 episodes they made my little black girl’s heart smile 😊
