one thing i personally enjoy thinking is what if grifter's bone is just some regular ass band in this universe. and with no slaughter influence, they're just a kind of niche indie punk band generally regarded as "bad" but with a very dedicated small fanbase that doesn't take itself too seriously. what if alice owns grifter's bone merch
#what im saying basically is what if grifter's bone is this universe's weezer#what if gwen makes fun of alice for the merch and she decides to REALLY fuck with her and tells that it's actually lena's#and she's just borrowing it#is she just lying to fuck with gwen? is she actually telling the truth? doesn't matter.#what matters is that this sends gwen into a week long spiral of confusion over two things: 1. is lena a grifter's bone fan.#and 2. WHY IS ALICE BORROWING HER MERCH???#tmagp#the magnus protocol#tmagp meme#tmagp shitpost#grifter's bone

Is it just me or does anyone else get the feeling that the violin in tmagp 4 has something to do with grifter's bone? Like the fact that when playing the violin, people went into a wild frenzy, trying to maim and destrly each other. And the hungering for fame leading to disastrous consequences - the uncle's fingers being shredded before realising he can use others blood, alfred grifter not achieving his desired fame. It all just seems a bit too similar yknow

I'm so obsessed with The Magnus Protocol rn- anyway
From a conversation with @yourlocalbadweather
What if the twink of a villain violin works similarly to the way that Grifters Bone does? Like what if it isn’t just the Fears that have been passed and spread through the universes, what if it isn't just them that connect all these universes, what if their artifacts are the same. What if the vampiristic violin is related to the same instruments that Grifter’s Bone used to inspire such slaughter??? They have the same intentions-
In the episode that mentions Grifter's Bone, Jennifer Ling notes that their music was "the most achingly beautiful music" she had ever heard. The only instrument she notes is a keyboard and not a violin, like in the Magnus Protocol episode, however. But she does say that they were packing up their "instruments", so I assume that a keyboard is not the only instrument.
In the Magnus Protocol episode, the person writing the letter pretty much says that the music that the violin produced was beautiful, he calls it "divine". He was admired and grew famous. But the violin that he had was hungry for his blood and flesh. When he played and protected his fingers, not allowing the violin its fill, it took the audience as payment instead. He describes the gory scene in much detail. While Jennifer Ling merely notes that the room after Grifter's Bone was covered in blood.
Just a weird little theory to share with you all!

🩸Alfred Grifter - The Slaughter🩸
I chose him becouse I wanted an Avatar of the Slaughter that's NOT Melanie, coz a lot of people headcanon her as one. (Me too, but I need her for a different card.) I also liked the fact that there is no fanart of him so could just go wild on the design.

do you think someone whose deaf would still be affected by a grifter's bone concert? Like sure they might not be able to hear it physically but would they be able to feel it? The heavy building vibrations through the floor and the increasing bloodlust in the crowd before all hell breaks lose. would they be a part of the violence simply because they're there in the crowd or because they're affected as well?
#the magnus archives#tma#im crafting an oc with this concept regaurdless#but this damn question has been plagung me for days now#grifter's bone#tma the slaughter#{original post here}

@a-mag-a-day
I'm really interested by how much people know/have heard about the supernatural in the tma universe, even if they don't believe in it.
Like, apparently Grifter's Bone is an urban legend, and "Anyone who’s written about music long enough has at least heard of [them]." That's so interesting! They're known! People talk about them, make jokes about them (and people who know the truth have to put up with it)!
Also, you have to imagine that a lot more people in the tma universe DO believe in the supernatural, even if they don't say it. I mean they have university courses on manifestations, idk. Surely there is more proof of the supernatural and genuinely unexplainable events because the supernatural,, genuinely exists. Like even if you could find a way to explain it away... It wouldn't be the actual truth. Like the supernatural very much exists and people experience it. Idk I'm not really going anywhere with this but. It's intriguing.
#every time i go to say something here i loose my ability to words#it's the curse#:(#(and the fatigue)#a mag a day#tma relisten#tma#the magnus archives#mag 42#grifter's bone#i heard ~60% of the population has had a brush with the supernatural even if it wasn't statement worthy#idk don't quote me on that i might have made it up

"When did I start to lose the parts of me that weren’t just anger?"
The Magnus Archives Fear Entities 9/15- The Slaughter
Oh I absolutely LOVE how this one turned out!! This whole series has been a really interesting way for me to get more creative and experimental with my art, which is something I’m really proud of. Anyway, the Slaughter and miss Melanie King! Who has become one of my favorite characters over the course of relistening to TMA! Who would’ve thought!
Playlist can be found here!
