okay but another thing I like about my favorite movie is the masterful melding of practical effects and CGI

it was made in 2014! they could have CGI'd way more! but instead they BUILT THIS ENTIRE JACOBEAN MANSION INTERIOR ON A SOUNDSTAGE?!

(that shot is from a deleted scene where Thomas was supposed to see one of the ghosts. no, it's never clear which one, at least in the version that got filmed and edited)

the utilities all worked. every single piece of furniture, drapery, wallpaper, artwork...that was all real and physically present in the space

the ghosts were real people in costumes, augmented with CGI afterwards for transparency and such:

(Doug Jones or Javier Botet- I forget which one -in costume as the ghost of Margaret McDermott. who died of massive head trauma, hence the greenscreen skull section)

I just. hnnnnng. I love it so much in so many ways, and the fact that so much wasn't CGI- or wasn't JUST CGI at least -makes it feel so much more real, IMO

Since you don't see many edits here, and i am a dumbass in editing, could you make a tutorial on it? Like: what apps should we use, what should or shouldn't do, devices, etc. Since i personally worship your editing prowess, i couldn't help myself but ask for your guidance sensei. 🙇‍♀️

I don't use a "special device" to make my edits, just a computer which can run a videoediting software and Wallpaper Engine correctly (in my case it's an Apple Mac Pro 4,1 from 2009 with upgraded RAM and GPU, and also with Windows 10 installed on it, but that's not important). My server pc build out of my spare parts, and it's serves as a network bridge, and a file storge (like a NAS, or something) to store my personal files, like the assets for the edits on HPP. The way I make my edits, is a different story. I like to put the charaters in different scenarios to make the edit more enjoyable. I usually chose one image from my pre-granarated ones, or I use (if i see a, as i call an edit "suspicious" image here on Tumblr or X) an image from my "Likes", or if I can't find any which is good for the scanario in my head I generate one using PixAI's Ebora Pony XL AI model. Than if I have an image, I put together a static version of the edit in Paint.NET (PaintdotNET). Here I cut down the unnecessary and the broken (weirdly generated hands, .etc) parts of the image, and I remove the background if I'd like to use a different one. Than I chose a stethoscope png what are suitable for the edit, but I recently using the hand with stethoscope one which you can see in my recent edits. I also make some barely visble changes to the main image and the stething image. If it's done, and looks good I save them (the base image, the background, and the steting png separately) in a folder. After that it's time to "animate" the edit, which is just using the Wallpaper Engine's built in Shake effect, if that part is done, I record the animated soundless edit using OBS, which is usually a 5-6 minutes raw mp4 file. Than I put the raw recording into the video editor which is my case is the Wondershare Filmora X. I chose one of the heartbeat and bearthing audios from my server (if it's needed I modify it a bit in Audacity), and speed them up to mach with the animation. I make the breathing way quieter to have the heartbeat in focus, also i duplicate the hb sound to make a stereo effect, which means the I make the left side a bit louder and add more bass to it than the right side, which make a really good heart pulse effect (ROLL CREDITS). Also in here I add some video effects, cut down the unnecessary parts, I cut down the video to 2 minutes to become uploadable for X, than it's time to export it. After I exported the final edit, i check it for mistakes and I fix them if i find any, and the fixed version gonna be uploaded to Tumblr and X. This whole process is 2+ hours usually, but it's could be more for longer and more complex edits. But you doesn't need to follow my way to make edits, if you ever used a photo editor and a video editor before, and you know how put a transparent png on an image, and a greenscreen video on another one, you good to go. There is a lot of ways you can make an edit, so you can chose one which are suitable for you. i love that every time any character uses a phone it's like, actually them using a phone like they all have their own banged up phones with their own wallpapers and contact names for everyone and you can actually see the call/hang up/etc when they're on call and the phone menu when they have to do anything.. like it's not a big detail but there's like basically no media out there that actually does smartphones well it's always either shit greenscreen or pre edited menus that look like they were made by someone who's never seen a smartphone in their life

{ID - three digital ACNH illustrations with concepts for a Flick & CJ house/shop.

1 - The ground floor of the shop. It is split in colour and decoration down the middle, the left side is Flick themed and the right is CJ themed. CJ's side of the shop has blue wallpaper with a striped blue flooring. There are various fish and rods mounted on the walls, and a workspace with a laptop and fishing lures. To the back of the room is a greenscreen with a camcorder pointing at it. Flick's side of the shop has striped maroon wallpaper and diamond-checked purple flooring. There are nets and bugs moutned on the walls, and a workstation that backs onto CJ's so that they would be facing each other if sat there. Flick's workstation features paints and modelling equipment. In the back of his half is a staircase going upwards. In the middle of the back wall, there is a shield that is split in the theme colours down the middle. The shield shows a bug net and a fishing rod crossing in an X. Each side has a counter with a bug/fish patterned rug in front of it. The counter also has an informational graphic about bugs/fish.

2 - The upstairs of the building, CJ and Flick's living space. This room has a dark flooring with dark red walls, except for a light blue feature wall on the right. The walls are covered in models of fish and bugs, as well as some plants. There are real fish and bugs kept in enclosures around the room. There is a small kitchen area, and a table with a fish-patterned tablecloth. The chairs for the table are different colours -- one dark red and one white birch. To the right side of the room is a living room area, with a cream couch next to a table with two switch controllers, facing a large TV.

3 - The living area, now rammed full of cages of bugs and tanks of fish. Flick and CJ are stuck at the back of the room.

Part 2: Worrysome

"Sorry, I got caught up at an autographing signing, you know how it is" Ben said, sitting down across from you.

"No, No I don't" You said, with more bitterness than you had intended. You had never been jealous of Benedict's successful acting career. Infact, you were his biggest cheerleader, so why were you coming across so jaded now?.

"I mean, the only people who want my signature are cashiers for the receipt." You joked, trying to recover.

Ben laughed than looked into your eyes, as you started to drink your coffee.

"So tell me, how have you been?", He asked.

"Same old, same old. How about you?" You replied.

He started blabbering on about all the cgi and Greenscreen and makeup and effects that were used for Dr.Strange. You were pretty sure he was violating some sort of NDA, but you and Ben had never hidden anything from each other. As he was finishing up his talk about Tom Holland, you saw a message pop up on his phone, on the table. The screen lit up to reveal the BBC logo as his wallpaper, with a notification reading "Times running out, Do you want to know the truth or not?".

Ben saw your eyes dart to the phone and quickly grabbed it off the table. "Just work stuff" he said inconspicuously.

The conversation went on as you talked about your aunt Vivi, and Bens dad, your ex-uncle tom.

Ben walked you home with an agreement to meet up again the next weekend. as you went into your apartment you called for Aunt Vivi.

After peeking in to every room, you realized she wasn't home. That was odd, She would've told you if she was going out. You tried to remember if she had said anything, but couldn't seem to recall such an event.

You sat on the couch on your living room and put your feet up on the coffee table. You turned on the TV and started watching episode 3 of Luther. Just as you were finishing up the episode a notification popped up on your phone.

"Do you want to know the truth?"

You remembered the strange message you had seen on Benedict's phone, earlier in the day.

It was from an unknown number. You were shocked at first, this wasn't the average spam text.

"Truth about what" you hesitantly replied.

"Yourself, Y/N". The message came instantly.

It's safe to safe to say, you found the message worrisome.

Anyway, I'm going to have to be very careful segueing into this next part, because if I get it wrong, I could end up sued like I put Mickey Mouse on a daycare's wallpaper, or murdered, and given my financial status, I'm not sure which one is worse. But, well here we go.

Death Note AU where hbomberguy makes a five hour long video about youtuber Light Yagami that's initially completely unrelated to the murders (Light would probably plagiarize or have really unhinged right-wing political takes if he was on youtube)

but halfway through he reveals that while researching he stumbled upon evidence that Light might be behind the Kira murders, and then spends like fourty minutes explaining the concept of a shinigami, an hour explaining how he thinks Light used one to commit murders, and then another hour explaining Light's ideology and why the concept of criminals being inherently evil is flawed

He finishes the video by addressing Light directly and telling him that he (Hbomberguy) had his name legally changed before uploading the video, to something that only he knows, making it impossible for Light to kill him

Festival Goers 🎊 I wanted to take some carnival pics ever since @Nsept0403 on twitter released the chocomog tee set and now that the carnival is being ported to pc, it was about high time to make these. I ended up finishing another one (but it's pretty short). Admittedly it's just a side project I thought of during Christmas break, and I only ended up including what I initially planned. (Which is only up to the first verse).

Admittedly, this isn't the one I started right after I Won't Say I'm In Love, but more so something on the side that snowballed into a finished state (because I needed a break from the angst).

It's not the whole song, so there's not much art to add as preface. Here are the only fully colored frames in it.

And a sleepy Wanning.

Considering the references, the animatic covers up til chapter 80ish but it's not really spoilery anyway. I talk gush about stuff below. (I talk about what I referenced in here so if you don't wants spoilers for the animatic you should go check it out >.>)

"Can't count the years on one hand that we've been together."

That's literally it. That's what started the idea. That alongside the song's snappy beat made me think of 1.0 and how the way he just "hates" Wanning whilst looking out and seeking his attention.

So, to put it in a way, the animatic is more like: I hate you, but I'm still into you. (Even considering his past with the person)

Also this storyboard is just funny, him being confused while counting out how long they've been together. (I guess that's a spoiler in a way, gahah).

In the actual finished piece, the title is included in the background as if it's a part of the set piece which I find absolutely silly and decided to go for it. Just watching that sequence taken seriously is... gets me every time lmaoo.

The transitions

I want to talk about the transitions for a bit, it was in the storyboards alongside (what I'd like to call) the funny turn around coz it's literally a spinning shot of ranwan I considered to be kind of daunting coz those shots are hard.

(Look I know height diff in the storyboard, but I googled a bit and I found out that 1.0 and CWN are almost the same height)

Also those full body pics ended up being used a lot in that sequence, pretty neat though considering back views are hard.

The animation in the middle ended up being a video I greenscreened because my video editor started lagging with the frames. (it ended up being for the better because I added another track later on.

My cousin made me a pretty collage using the two full bodies and the other frames from I Won't Say I'm In Love and I ended up using it as my wallpaper xD.

And it's also said cousin who improved the 4 shots before the zoom in by making the sequence more funny and exaggerated. Arguably that zoom in shot with the background opening up into another shot...

My favorite really. The background are two black halves of the screen and the full bodies are both on separate layers and they're all animated to zoom out to give the impression of the camera zooming in.

From the storyboards, I initially planned it to be a bamboo grove in Red Lotus Pavillion transitioning into Mo Ran tying up Xia Sini's hair with the bamboo as foreground, but decided against it as 1.0 was not aware of Xia Sini's identity.

Instead, I opted for another favorite scene in chapter 75 with CWN saving Mo Ran in Peach Blossom Springs which also has this passage I really like.

The next scene stayed the same as planned and is the moment in chapter 32 where Mo Ran is grumpily feeding Wanning medicine, which then transitions into the funny turn around scene.

The frames transitioning from their first meeting to the New Year together was something that ended up developing later on. (I love the New Year frames, I love how Mo Ran's eyes light up as he looks at Wanning, I love how the fireworks are falling in the background and how the golden light is reflected off of Wanning's eyes—)

The spin sequence wasn't as hard as I expected. But that's probably because I've done it too much I kinda know what to do?

Last Additional Stuff

I think most of what I wanted to talk about is just the transitions and the spin around. The title at the start too as well as Mo Ran acting like a little shit. Also pointing out how I keep forgetting how his hair clip is supposed to be on his left lmao.

It's not definite yet, but I'm kind of considering expanding it somewhere in the far future. Closing this off with a Mo Ran cut out.
