It's not like you've never thought about it. Even before Paula was killed and protecting Ian (again) became all that mattered to you (again). Of course, you've thought about it. You've been in love with this kid since you were seventeen and ghetto married to him at eighteen.

But it was always fleeting, never hopeful. Not even during the ghetto-married stage. Even then there was so much else going on that the most you ever hoped for was an empty house to fuck in. And then all you hoped for was Ian to be okay, Ian to visit you, Ian to run away with you, Ian to be okay (again). It's a loop, a pattern. Maybe unhealthy, but you don't give a fuck because it's Ian.

And when you were in prison together, even when things were bad, you wanted it forever - the waking up and going to bed together, the stupid fights, the ability to look across a room and see his stupid beautiful face and know he was yours. It was never thoughts of getting out and getting married, but it was thoughts of forever.

It's been fleeting thoughts of forever since you kicked him in the face and broke both your hearts. It's been fleeting possibilities of forever since the first time you crashed at the Gallagher house.

So yeah, you've thought about it.

You're still nervous, though. You pace a little, the walls of city hall doing nothing to ease the tension between your shoulders. You don't know if you and Ian are doing this for all the right reasons, but you know you're doing it for the one right reason. You love each other and you trust each other. That's all that matters. Everything else is whatever.

You sit next to him, not unaware of the tension in his body, but you don't bring it up. You're not sure if bringing it up will help or not, so you sit next to him and bite at the inside of your cheek.

And then he's there. Leaning in. Hand on your face. Soft lips against your own. A short kiss, but long enough - earnest enough - to ease every bit of that tension between your shoulder blades. You fall into him as he pulls away, but his smile, the tiny touch of his thumb to your mouth ... it makes it all okay.

Everything is okay.

Herah swore very loudly in Qunlat. Well, not quite Qunlat, it was the variety that the Valo-Kas spoke, but it was a swear nonetheless.

Josephine rushed in from her office on hearing the crash and the swear. "Herah? Love?"

"M'fine, Josie. Just…" She gestured to the jar she'd unceremoniously dropped. "Too heavy for one hand."

"Let's clean this up."

Together they collected the spare pieces of ceramic that had smashed and wrapped them in a cloth to be disposed of later. The jam they'd contained was luckily not too difficult to clean up with a bit of magic and a bit of cloth-work.

At the end of it, Herah looked exhausted. Not just tired, but the kind of exhausted one gets when they're not only tired but frustrated with themself above all else. She waved her hand towards Josephine. "You can go back to…what you were doing. Sorry to distract you."

"You are never a bother to me, Herah. Come here."

Unable to resist Josephine's pull, Herah turned to her partner and met her eyes.

Josephine took Herah's face in her hand and cradled it. Reaching up at this angle could be awkward, so it became clear that she had planned this action. Her finger ran over the scar on the tal-vashoth's cheek as she said, "I'm here for you. You can talk to me."

"I'm supposed to be the Inquisitor. Competent." Herah pulled away, instantly regretting the motion. "Now I can't even get jam on my own."

"We knew this would be an adjustment." Josephine tried her best to guide Herah to sit on their nearby lounge, taking place at her side. "You knew it wouldn't be as simple as picking life up where you left off."

"I know." Herah sighed as she sat, unable to look Josephine in the eye. "But I don't like being useless."

Josephine retorted in a much more snappy voice than Herah expected. "You are not useless. Never useless."

"I really shouldn't be so down in the dumps about it, huh?" They laughed, trying to draw something more light out of all they'd said. "It's hard. You know, in the Valo-Kas, you only earn what you can work for. I got as far as I did because of my magic. Iss-"

"You are not only your usefulness, Herah. You are also your kindness. Your generosity. Your foresight. Your quick tongue. Your humor." Josephine had grabbed Herah's hand again, running her fingers over the knuckles. "You are the woman that I love, and a few broken jars will not change that."

"You are a romantic at heart, Josephine Montilyet."

"I am well aware." And they smiled at each other.

I do think that alicent and her kids look similar in age and its kinda goofy but maybe they also intendent it that way? To show that Alicent had her kids so young that she is more like sister to them sometimes? Like their boundaries are kinda weird maybe? Idk i might be just reaching and its them not wanting to cast older woman. Just a thought.

thats what i think. though honestly i barely even thought about it. like i know logically they look similar ages but the way they embody the characters and interact with each other absolutely sells them as the ages of the characters to me.

alicent had her first 3 kids as a teenager, so yeah if they're in their early 20s and shes in her mid 30s... shes not going to look that much older than them. and imo it is probably not meant to look normal that shes their mother. anyway... there are plenty of 35 year old women who look like Olivia i dont know what some people think happens to women in those 5 years. but we dont turn 30 and suddenly wither.

I do ! I've only written one thing so far and it's incomplete but I would like to write more stuff cuz I have so many ideas for so many different fandoms.

So I want to apologize, if this question kinda comes out of the blue/is a bit vague, but I saw some of your posts about FanFiction.net, and I wanted to ask someone that had experience with that site:

Would you recommend uploading fics there? I'm seriously considering uploading some of my AO3 works on there as well, but I'm just starting to navigate the site, and am a bit anxious. How would you say your experience was?

I personally haven't used ff.net since, like, 2015, so take this with as many grains of salt as needed.

From what I understand, while when I was a kid ff.net was the place to be, it's been in a sharp decline over the years. Pretty much everyone who's posting fic has moved to AO3 these days, so I don't know what kind of reach you might get.

To be fair, I badmouth the ff.net experience a lot, but it wasn't that bad. A part of its infamous reputation was just because it was a bastion of Poorly Edited Fanfic Written By Teenagers or straight up trollfic (think My Immortal). Adding to that was because a lot of teens were on the site and, well, teens can be annoying at times. I think every teenager goes through a phase of being irritating, and that is an essential part of the human experience. Cringey Fandom Teens were certainly not exclusive to ff.net, but they were hard to miss!

I'm not sure how good of an archive ff.net is these days, though. There's a very real chance that it's just straight up gonna go under before too long, it's been neglected for years by whoever runs it.

So, tl;dr - if you wanna do it I don't think anything bad will happen, but it's probably not the best medium for it any more.
