Grading System in CBSE Class 12
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has implemented a unique grading system for Class 12, a critical juncture in a student’s academic journey. This system aims to evaluate students holistically, moving away from the traditional marks-based assessment. Let’s get into the CBSE grading system for Class 12, its implications, and strategies to help students maximize their success.
Tumblr media
Grading Structure
The CBSE Class 12 grading system follows a 9-point scale, ranging from A1 (the highest grade) to E (the lowest grade). Each grade corresponds to a specific range of marks.
Advantages of the Grading System
The CBSE grading system for Class 12 offers several advantages:
Minimizes Misclassification: By assigning grades based on ranges, the system minimizes the potential for misclassifying students based on minor mark differences. Reduces Unhealthy Competition: The grading system eliminates the cut-throat competition among high achievers, as the top grade (A1) encompasses a broader range of marks. Provides Flexibility: The system reduces societal pressure and offers… Read more

I dont think there's enough international respect for asian education systems, and I say this as an ex IB student who was made to work through a 7th grade maths textbook in 6th holidays and cried several times, only to encounter the same content in 10th grade in IB. The American Education Board (especially APs) A levels, IB etc etc is nowhere near as difficult in terms of certain subjects (e.g. math, chemistry, physics, biology) when compared to CBSE and ICSE equivalents, and don't even get me started on entrance exams. India's top universities often have an acceptance rate that is far far less than Ivy Leagues in the US, and the result of this inherent bias is that in world rankings and such, Asian universities are often ranked much lower than they deserve to be for e.g. IITs and IIMs have historically been ranked much much lower than their British/American counterparts, to the extent that this year when IIM A has ranked 22nd in the QS world rankings for business and management studies, people were genuinely stunned! All of which is to say, if you are part of any Asian education system (indian or otherwise) I have mad respect for you, and honestly? You should be crazy proud of yourself too.

•27.07.23, Thursday• p-20/100
Probably the best day of my life. We went to the CBSE National Education Policy discussion Summit along with almost all other CBSE board schools of our state. It was a two day long seminar and competition. I participated in the Youth Parliament for the first time (probably the last too). It has convinced me that I have talent to be a politician (lmao). It was so fun! I was to act as the Education Minister of the country and since Education is a vital ministry almost all the questions asked by press and audience was directed to me and my ministry. Some questions were hella silly, some were of concerning issues like inclusion of sex education in Indian education system, prospective of unemployment due to inclusion of AI (I honestly think this question should’ve gone to Ministry of science and Technology but since the student acting as it’s Minister was in 8th grade I think no one bothered to dodge it to her). I don’t think I have enjoyed myself so much in a long time! Oh it drizzled a little too! The weather was amazing.
Things I did today-
Studied Chemical Bonding
Completed maths homework on Logarithm.
I didn’t do much as I returned home yesterday at near about 8 pm after leaving at 6.30 am. I was exhausted to say the least. Then I also went to a tuition till 10.30T_T

like I’m sorry but Americans do need to realize that like geography or whatever subject is being discussed at the moment only being “elective” past middle school is a very normal thing. that happens in a lot of countries. sure maybe you do them for the first two years but most schooling systems I’m familiar with split you into your streams by 11th grade at least. I was a PCM+CS student which means anything that wasn’t science non-medical I got the bare minimum CBSE education of. And like. It’s not like we did super varied stuff too? We only do world history and stuff in 9th and 10th grade and then 11+12 if you take the humanities as your subjects. Most of our education is focused on India (many criticisms of the way these subjects are taught and written about but not relevant here) but like. girl I know Sudan is a country simply because I’m not like, a 4 year old.

Note
so i did some research
And technically the things we're studying in cbse in my grade (which is like early years of highschool) is the same thing you all are studying in 10th - 11th grade in the United States
also question do you have lockers and if so , what do you bring in your bags if you keep all the books in the lockers ? (We do not have lockers at my school because we need to take all our books back every single day for revision and homework and stuff)
Bestie with my state you're probably studying stuff we learn in senior (12th grade.) I've confided with some friends who are still in the US but different states and found that ah.
My education system sucks. A lot.
So that honestly checks out! I would expect many people have a much better learning system than we do!
And we used to. In middle school we did but then COVID happened, and my school realized that it really wasn't worth maintenance costs when pretty much all of the students were fine with not doing so.
Anyway, when we still lockers we had to bring our books home everyday, (we'd stop at our lockers before we left to go home.) But before school we'd stop at our lockers and have pretty much everything in our backpacks. Except for maybe a spare notebook or smth. And a few pencils in there just in case.
But then we'd unload everything in there except for say what we needed for first period. Now I had English the first two periods of the day, so I'd be sure to bring whatever homework I needed, a pencil, and sometimes a book.
Then, when we had passing period (4 minutes to get from class to class) you could exchange what you needed for your next class. This wasn't preferred because sometimes you'd be marked tardy bc your locker wouldn't open or it was really far from your class, etc. But I don't really remember since I had my two electives after that--which i didn't really need anything for--and then lunch.
If I did have a locker now, I only have four periods a day (as opposed to eight) So I'd probably just take out stuff for my morning two classes and then while getting my lunch exchange it for the stuff for my last two classes.
But nope! I'm stuck carrying like 30 pounds of weight because I'm the unlucky guy who has all of his periods that require big ass textbooks on the same day!!

What Are The Stages of School Education in India?
School education in India follows a structured system, aiming to provide students with a well-rounded academic foundation and practical skills for future success. The education system is divided into distinct stages, each focusing on specific developmental and academic milestones. Understanding these stages can help parents and students navigate the journey effectively. Among the top options for quality education, Academic Heights Public School (AHPS) stands out as an excellent choice for higher secondary schooling, offering a progressive curriculum that aligns with national educational standards.
1. Pre-Primary Education (Ages 3-6)
Pre-primary education is the first stage, usually covering ages 3 to 6, focusing on early learning through play and interaction. This stage includes nursery, lower kindergarten (LKG), and upper kindergarten (UKG). The emphasis is on social skills, motor skills, language development, and basic numeracy. Schools like Bachpan Play School are known for nurturing early childhood education in India, preparing children for a smooth transition into primary school.
2. Primary Education (Grades 1-5)
The primary stage covers grades 1 to 5 and focuses on building a strong foundation in essential subjects such as mathematics, science, language, and social studies. This phase is crucial for cognitive and social development, as students learn fundamental skills that they will build upon in later stages. Teachers guide students through interactive lessons that encourage curiosity and creativity.
3. Upper Primary (Middle School) Education (Grades 6-8)
Upper primary, or middle school, includes grades 6 to 8 and introduces more complex subjects. Students begin studying subjects in greater depth and are encouraged to develop analytical skills. By engaging in subjects like environmental science, history, and basic algebra, students start to form independent study habits and critical thinking abilities that prepare them for secondary school.
4. Secondary Education (Grades 9-10)
Secondary education comprises grades 9 and 10, where students focus on a defined curriculum set by education boards like CBSE or ICSE. This stage is crucial as it culminates in board examinations, which play a key role in determining a student's academic trajectory. Subjects become more specialised, and students have the opportunity to explore areas of interest, whether in the sciences, humanities, or commerce.
5. Higher Secondary (Senior Secondary) Education (Grades 11-12)
The final stage of school education, higher secondary education, includes grades 11 and 12. Here, students choose a stream based on their career aspirations: science, commerce, or arts. This stage is pivotal for college preparation, with in-depth study in chosen subjects, offering a focused curriculum that aligns with students' academic and career goals. Academic Heights Public School (AHPS) provides an excellent higher secondary program with well-equipped facilities, experienced faculty, and comprehensive guidance for students aiming to excel in their board exams and beyond.
Here Is the Best Choice For Every Parents
AHPS is committed to providing a high-quality education at every stage of learning, especially in higher secondary education. With a student-centred approach, modern infrastructure, and dedicated educators, AHPS ensures a well-rounded academic experience. AHPS also emphasises personality development and leadership skills, preparing students for both academic success and personal growth.
Conclusion
The stages of school education in India are designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge, and experiences needed for lifelong success. Each stage plays an integral role in a child’s development, guiding them toward their future goals. Achieving Excellence in CBSE: A Collaborative Approach for Parents and Students
Tumblr media
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is one of the most prominent education systems in India, and it plays a crucial role in shaping the academic futures of millions of students. As students embark on this journey, the partnership between parents and children is vital. A collaborative approach can make all the difference in achieving excellence in academics and personal development. Here are some key strategies for parents and students to work together effectively throughout the CBSE journey.
CBSE Schools in Coimbatore
Understanding the CBSE Curriculum
The CBSE curriculum is designed to provide a balanced education that fosters both academic and personal growth. As parents, it is essential to familiarize yourselves with the syllabus and assessment patterns of your child’s grade. Understanding the marking scheme, weightage of different subjects, and project requirements will help you support your child better. Regularly checking the official CBSE website for updates can keep you informed about any changes in the curriculum or examination patterns.
Setting Realistic Goals
Goal setting is crucial for academic success. Parents and students should collaborate to establish achievable short-term and long-term goals. These can include daily study targets, project completion timelines, and preparation schedules for exams. Encourage your child to reflect on their strengths and areas for improvement, and together, set milestones that are both challenging and attainable. Acknowledge and celebrate all achievements, regardless of their size, to enhance confidence and motivation.
Creating a Supportive Study Environment
A conducive study environment can greatly enhance focus and productivity. Parents should work with their children to create a study space that is free from distractions and equipped with necessary resources. This includes ensuring good lighting, comfortable seating, and access to study materials. Establishing a consistent study schedule that incorporates breaks can help students maintain their concentration and reduce stress.
Best CBSE Schools in Coimbatore
Encouraging Open Communication
Open lines of communication between parents and children foster a sense of trust and support. Encourage your child to share their thoughts and feelings about their studies, challenges they face, and any anxieties they may have about exams. Regular family discussions about school experiences can help parents identify areas where their child may need additional help or encouragement. Listening actively and empathetically can strengthen your relationship and enable better understanding.
Balancing Academics and Extracurricular Activities
While academic excellence is important, it is equally essential to engage in extracurricular activities that contribute to holistic development. Parents should encourage their children to participate in sports, arts, music, or any hobby that interests them. This not only helps in relieving stress but also fosters creativity, teamwork, and leadership skills. Striking a balance between academics and extracurriculars will ensure that students remain well-rounded and motivated.
Leveraging Technology Wisely
In today’s digital age, technology can be a valuable ally in the learning process. Encourage your child to use educational apps, online courses, and resources that align with their curriculum. However, it’s important to set boundaries around screen time to prevent distractions. Parents should monitor online activities and engage in discussions about responsible technology use, emphasizing the importance of focusing on educational content.
CBSE Schools in Coimbatore
Seeking Professional Guidance
If your child is struggling with specific subjects or concepts, seeking help from teachers, tutors, or online resources can be beneficial. Parents should not hesitate to reach out to educators for guidance or to clarify doubts regarding academic performance. Collaborative efforts with teachers can provide valuable insights into your child’s strengths and weaknesses, allowing for targeted support.
Preparing for Examinations Together
As examinations approach, parents and students should work together on preparation strategies. This includes creating a revision timetable, practicing past exam papers, and conducting mock tests. Encourage your child to teach back what they’ve learned, as this can reinforce their understanding and boost confidence. Parents can help by providing moral support and maintaining a positive atmosphere during this stressful time.
Best CBSE Schools in Coimbatore
Conclusion
Achieving excellence in the CBSE journey requires a collaborative approach that emphasizes partnership, communication, and mutual support between parents and students. By understanding the curriculum, setting realistic goals, creating a conducive study environment, and balancing academics with extracurricular activities, families can foster a positive and productive learning experience. Embrace this journey together, and remember that every step taken in collaboration brings you closer to success.
