Grading System in CBSE Class 12
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has implemented a unique grading system for Class 12, a critical juncture in a student’s academic journey. This system aims to evaluate students holistically, moving away from the traditional marks-based assessment. Let’s get into the CBSE grading system for Class 12, its implications, and strategies to help students maximize their success.
Tumblr media
Grading Structure
The CBSE Class 12 grading system follows a 9-point scale, ranging from A1 (the highest grade) to E (the lowest grade). Each grade corresponds to a specific range of marks.
Advantages of the Grading System
The CBSE grading system for Class 12 offers several advantages:
Minimizes Misclassification: By assigning grades based on ranges, the system minimizes the potential for misclassifying students based on minor mark differences. Reduces Unhealthy Competition: The grading system eliminates the cut-throat competition among high achievers, as the top grade (A1) encompasses a broader range of marks. Provides Flexibility: The system reduces societal pressure and offers… Read more

I dont think there's enough international respect for asian education systems, and I say this as an ex IB student who was made to work through a 7th grade maths textbook in 6th holidays and cried several times, only to encounter the same content in 10th grade in IB. The American Education Board (especially APs) A levels, IB etc etc is nowhere near as difficult in terms of certain subjects (e.g. math, chemistry, physics, biology) when compared to CBSE and ICSE equivalents, and don't even get me started on entrance exams. India's top universities often have an acceptance rate that is far far less than Ivy Leagues in the US, and the result of this inherent bias is that in world rankings and such, Asian universities are often ranked much lower than they deserve to be for e.g. IITs and IIMs have historically been ranked much much lower than their British/American counterparts, to the extent that this year when IIM A has ranked 22nd in the QS world rankings for business and management studies, people were genuinely stunned! All of which is to say, if you are part of any Asian education system (indian or otherwise) I have mad respect for you, and honestly? You should be crazy proud of yourself too.

•27.07.23, Thursday• p-20/100
Probably the best day of my life. We went to the CBSE National Education Policy discussion Summit along with almost all other CBSE board schools of our state. It was a two day long seminar and competition. I participated in the Youth Parliament for the first time (probably the last too). It has convinced me that I have talent to be a politician (lmao). It was so fun! I was to act as the Education Minister of the country and since Education is a vital ministry almost all the questions asked by press and audience was directed to me and my ministry. Some questions were hella silly, some were of concerning issues like inclusion of sex education in Indian education system, prospective of unemployment due to inclusion of AI (I honestly think this question should’ve gone to Ministry of science and Technology but since the student acting as it’s Minister was in 8th grade I think no one bothered to dodge it to her). I don’t think I have enjoyed myself so much in a long time! Oh it drizzled a little too! The weather was amazing.
Things I did today-
Studied Chemical Bonding
Completed maths homework on Logarithm.
I didn’t do much as I returned home yesterday at near about 8 pm after leaving at 6.30 am. I was exhausted to say the least. Then I also went to a tuition till 10.30T_T

like I’m sorry but Americans do need to realize that like geography or whatever subject is being discussed at the moment only being “elective” past middle school is a very normal thing. that happens in a lot of countries. sure maybe you do them for the first two years but most schooling systems I’m familiar with split you into your streams by 11th grade at least. I was a PCM+CS student which means anything that wasn’t science non-medical I got the bare minimum CBSE education of. And like. It’s not like we did super varied stuff too? We only do world history and stuff in 9th and 10th grade and then 11+12 if you take the humanities as your subjects. Most of our education is focused on India (many criticisms of the way these subjects are taught and written about but not relevant here) but like. girl I know Sudan is a country simply because I’m not like, a 4 year old.

Note
so i did some research
And technically the things we're studying in cbse in my grade (which is like early years of highschool) is the same thing you all are studying in 10th - 11th grade in the United States
also question do you have lockers and if so , what do you bring in your bags if you keep all the books in the lockers ? (We do not have lockers at my school because we need to take all our books back every single day for revision and homework and stuff)
Bestie with my state you're probably studying stuff we learn in senior (12th grade.) I've confided with some friends who are still in the US but different states and found that ah.
My education system sucks. A lot.
So that honestly checks out! I would expect many people have a much better learning system than we do!
And we used to. In middle school we did but then COVID happened, and my school realized that it really wasn't worth maintenance costs when pretty much all of the students were fine with not doing so.
Anyway, when we still lockers we had to bring our books home everyday, (we'd stop at our lockers before we left to go home.) But before school we'd stop at our lockers and have pretty much everything in our backpacks. Except for maybe a spare notebook or smth. And a few pencils in there just in case.
But then we'd unload everything in there except for say what we needed for first period. Now I had English the first two periods of the day, so I'd be sure to bring whatever homework I needed, a pencil, and sometimes a book.
Then, when we had passing period (4 minutes to get from class to class) you could exchange what you needed for your next class. This wasn't preferred because sometimes you'd be marked tardy bc your locker wouldn't open or it was really far from your class, etc. But I don't really remember since I had my two electives after that--which i didn't really need anything for--and then lunch.
If I did have a locker now, I only have four periods a day (as opposed to eight) So I'd probably just take out stuff for my morning two classes and then while getting my lunch exchange it for the stuff for my last two classes.
But nope! I'm stuck carrying like 30 pounds of weight because I'm the unlucky guy who has all of his periods that require big ass textbooks on the same day!!

Difference Between CBSE and ICSE: Which Is Better?
Are you a parent navigating the complexity of Indian education, dicy over the crucial decision of choosing the right educational board for your child's academic journey?
This choice holds immense significance, as it plays a pivotal role in shaping a student's educational experience and prospects.
Two of the most prominent educational boards in the country, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) stand out for their distinctive features, teaching methodologies, and assessment patterns.

Difference between CBSE and ICSE
The primary difference between CBSE and ICSE lies in their curricula. CBSE prioritizes science and mathematics, While ICSE equally emphasizes languages, arts, and sciences. ICSE offers a more comprehensive syllabus, while CBSE is designed to prepare students specifically for exams such as JEE and NEET.
Here are a few more significant differences between the ICSE and CBSE Boards:
Curriculum and Syllabus:
CBSE: The CBSE curriculum is known for its structured approach, focusing on building a robust understanding of core subjects while providing elective choices in higher classes. The syllabus is carefully designed to ensure alignment with various national and state-level entrance examinations, easing the transition for students pursuing higher education or competitive exams.
ICSE: On the other hand, the ICSE curriculum is renowned for its comprehensive nature, encompassing a diverse range of subjects to offer a holistic educational experience. The board emphasizes the development of analytical and critical thinking skills through an in-depth study of subjects, emphasizing conceptual clarity and application-oriented learning.
Examination Pattern:
CBSE: The CBSE examination pattern adopts a more practical approach, incorporating application-based questions and practical assessments to gauge students’ understanding. The All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) for Class 10 and the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) for Class 12 are the hallmark examinations conducted by the board.
ICSE: In contrast, ICSE examinations are renowned for their rigorous evaluation process, balancing theoretical and practical assessments. The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) for Class 10 and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) for Class 12 form the cornerstone of the board’s assessment system.
Emphasis on Language:
CBSE: While CBSE places significant importance on the English language, it also offers a diverse array of options for second and third-language selections, catering to linguistic diversity and regional preferences.
ICSE: ICSE holds a distinguished emphasis on the English language and literature, striving to cultivate strong language skills and literary appreciation among students, fostering a deep understanding of the language's nuances and literature’s richness.
Grading System:
CBSE: The CBSE board employs the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) system for assessment, providing a comprehensive evaluation of a student’s performance across subjects, laying importance on continual improvement and overall growth.
ICSE: In contrast, ICSE follows a percentage-based evaluation system, allowing a clear understanding of the student’s performance in each subject, and providing a granular understanding of strengths and areas needing improvement.
Recognition and Affiliation:
CBSE: Widely recognized and preferred for national-level competitive examinations and entrance tests, CBSE boasts affiliations with a multitude of schools across India and abroad, offering a diverse and inclusive educational network.
ICSE: ICSE commands a strong international presence, recognized by numerous universities worldwide, making it an appealing choice for students aspiring for global educational opportunities, showcasing the board's emphasis on a comprehensive and challenging academic curriculum.
Understanding the nuances of each board is vital for parents and students to make an informed decision aligning with their educational goals.
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a national-level board of education in India, catering to both public and private schools while being under the administration of the Union Government of India. CBSE is widely reputed for its comprehensive and structured curriculum, with a significant focus on building a strong foundation in core subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Social Science, and Languages. Additionally, the board is responsible for conducting competitive entrance exams such as JEE (Main), NEET, and CTET.
The student-centric approach to learning sets CBSE apart, emphasizing real-world applications of knowledge and practical skills. The assessment pattern encompasses both formative and summative assessments, incorporating a continuous evaluation system that fosters holistic development. Furthermore, the provision of study materials, sample papers, and online resources bolsters students’ academic pursuits.
Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE)
The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) is administered by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, serving as a private, non-governmental board of school education in India. Renowned for its rigorous and comprehensive curriculum, ICSE encompasses a wide breadth of subjects, with a notable emphasis on English language and literature, Mathematics, Sciences, and Social Studies.
ICSE’s core philosophy revolves around in-depth understanding, critical thinking, and honing analytical skills. The board’s vision aims to provide a balanced education, incorporating a strong foundation in both academics and extracurricular activities. The assessment pattern encompasses internal assessments, practical exams, and written examinations, fostering a multifaceted approach to student evaluation.

Why Home Tuition is the Key to Better Grades
In today’s competitive academic environment, every student aims to achieve excellent grades. However, traditional classroom settings may not always provide the personalized attention required to meet individual learning needs. That’s where home tuition comes in. With a tailored approach, dedicated focus, and expert guidance, home tuition has become the ultimate solution for boosting academic performance. If you’re looking for home tuition in Chandigarh, Brainstorm Home Tuition offers exceptional services designed to help students excel.
Understanding the Importance of Home Tuition
Classroom education has its limitations. With one teacher managing dozens of students, providing individual attention becomes a challenge. Home tuition bridges this gap by offering a one-on-one learning experience. A personal tutor can identify a student’s strengths, address weaknesses, and adapt teaching methods to suit their learning style.
How Home Tuition Improves Academic Performance
1. Personalized Learning
Home tuition focuses entirely on the student’s needs. Unlike classrooms, where a fixed curriculum is followed, home tutors adapt lessons to match the learner’s pace and understanding. This approach helps students grasp complex topics easily.
2. Individual Attention
Every student learns differently. Some may require extra guidance in mathematics, while others may need help improving their language skills. Home tuition provides a distraction-free environment, allowing the tutor to focus entirely on the student’s progress.
3. Better Time Management
Home tuition ensures that study schedules are effectively planned. Tutors help students balance their workload, manage their time efficiently, and prepare for exams without stress.
4. Immediate Feedback and Doubt Clearing
In classrooms, students often hesitate to ask questions due to peer pressure. In home tuition, students can freely discuss their doubts and receive immediate clarification, enhancing their understanding of the subject.
5. Customized Exam Preparation
Home tutors use tailored strategies to help students prepare for exams. From solving previous years’ question papers to focusing on high-weightage topics, students are equipped to tackle exams confidently.
Why Choose Home Tuition in Chandigarh?
For students in Chandigarh, the academic competition is fierce. Whether preparing for board exams, competitive tests, or simply aiming for better grades, home tuition offers a focused and efficient way to excel.
