Grading System in CBSE Class 12
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has implemented a unique grading system for Class 12, a critical juncture in a student’s academic journey. This system aims to evaluate students holistically, moving away from the traditional marks-based assessment. Let’s get into the CBSE grading system for Class 12, its implications, and strategies to help students maximize their success.
Tumblr media
Grading Structure
The CBSE Class 12 grading system follows a 9-point scale, ranging from A1 (the highest grade) to E (the lowest grade). Each grade corresponds to a specific range of marks.
Advantages of the Grading System
The CBSE grading system for Class 12 offers several advantages:
Minimizes Misclassification: By assigning grades based on ranges, the system minimizes the potential for misclassifying students based on minor mark differences. Reduces Unhealthy Competition: The grading system eliminates the cut-throat competition among high achievers, as the top grade (A1) encompasses a broader range of marks. Provides Flexibility: The system reduces societal pressure and offers… Read more

I dont think there's enough international respect for asian education systems, and I say this as an ex IB student who was made to work through a 7th grade maths textbook in 6th holidays and cried several times, only to encounter the same content in 10th grade in IB. The American Education Board (especially APs) A levels, IB etc etc is nowhere near as difficult in terms of certain subjects (e.g. math, chemistry, physics, biology) when compared to CBSE and ICSE equivalents, and don't even get me started on entrance exams. India's top universities often have an acceptance rate that is far far less than Ivy Leagues in the US, and the result of this inherent bias is that in world rankings and such, Asian universities are often ranked much lower than they deserve to be for e.g. IITs and IIMs have historically been ranked much much lower than their British/American counterparts, to the extent that this year when IIM A has ranked 22nd in the QS world rankings for business and management studies, people were genuinely stunned! All of which is to say, if you are part of any Asian education system (indian or otherwise) I have mad respect for you, and honestly? You should be crazy proud of yourself too.

•27.07.23, Thursday• p-20/100
Probably the best day of my life. We went to the CBSE National Education Policy discussion Summit along with almost all other CBSE board schools of our state. It was a two day long seminar and competition. I participated in the Youth Parliament for the first time (probably the last too). It has convinced me that I have talent to be a politician (lmao). It was so fun! I was to act as the Education Minister of the country and since Education is a vital ministry almost all the questions asked by press and audience was directed to me and my ministry. Some questions were hella silly, some were of concerning issues like inclusion of sex education in Indian education system, prospective of unemployment due to inclusion of AI (I honestly think this question should’ve gone to Ministry of science and Technology but since the student acting as it’s Minister was in 8th grade I think no one bothered to dodge it to her). I don’t think I have enjoyed myself so much in a long time! Oh it drizzled a little too! The weather was amazing.
Things I did today-
Studied Chemical Bonding
Completed maths homework on Logarithm.
I didn’t do much as I returned home yesterday at near about 8 pm after leaving at 6.30 am. I was exhausted to say the least. Then I also went to a tuition till 10.30T_T

like I’m sorry but Americans do need to realize that like geography or whatever subject is being discussed at the moment only being “elective” past middle school is a very normal thing. that happens in a lot of countries. sure maybe you do them for the first two years but most schooling systems I’m familiar with split you into your streams by 11th grade at least. I was a PCM+CS student which means anything that wasn’t science non-medical I got the bare minimum CBSE education of. And like. It’s not like we did super varied stuff too? We only do world history and stuff in 9th and 10th grade and then 11+12 if you take the humanities as your subjects. Most of our education is focused on India (many criticisms of the way these subjects are taught and written about but not relevant here) but like. girl I know Sudan is a country simply because I’m not like, a 4 year old.

so i did some research
And technically the things we're studying in cbse in my grade (which is like early years of highschool) is the same thing you all are studying in 10th - 11th grade in the United States
also question do you have lockers and if so , what do you bring in your bags if you keep all the books in the lockers ? (We do not have lockers at my school because we need to take all our books back every single day for revision and homework and stuff)
Bestie with my state you're probably studying stuff we learn in senior (12th grade.) I've confided with some friends who are still in the US but different states and found that ah.
My education system sucks. A lot.
So that honestly checks out! I would expect many people have a much better learning system than we do!
And we used to. In middle school we did but then COVID happened, and my school realized that it really wasn't worth maintenance costs when pretty much all of the students were fine with not doing so.
Anyway, when we still lockers we had to bring our books home everyday, (we'd stop at our lockers before we left to go home.) But before school we'd stop at our lockers and have pretty much everything in our backpacks. Except for maybe a spare notebook or smth. And a few pencils in there just in case.
But then we'd unload everything in there except for say what we needed for first period. Now I had English the first two periods of the day, so I'd be sure to bring whatever homework I needed, a pencil, and sometimes a book.
Then, when we had passing period (4 minutes to get from class to class) you could exchange what you needed for your next class. This wasn't preferred because sometimes you'd be marked tardy bc your locker wouldn't open or it was really far from your class, etc. But I don't really remember since I had my two electives after that--which i didn't really need anything for--and then lunch.
If I did have a locker now, I only have four periods a day (as opposed to eight) So I'd probably just take out stuff for my morning two classes and then while getting my lunch exchange it for the stuff for my last two classes.
But nope! I'm stuck carrying like 30 pounds of weight because I'm the unlucky guy who has all of his periods that require big ass textbooks on the same day!!

Prachin Global School’s Field Trips – Experiential Learning for Holistic Development
Tumblr media
Our Pre-primary students recently visited the Fire Station. The objective of this trip was to introduce young children to the community helpers who work tirelessly to keep us safe. By learning about fire safety, the role of firefighters, and how to respond in emergencies, the students not only gained valuable knowledge but also developed respect for the individuals who serve our communities.
Students of Grades 1 to 3 had a creative learning experience when they visited a Potter’s Wheel. This trip was planned to develop an appreciation for the traditional art of pottery-making. The students got to observe the entire process, from shaping the clay to crafting beautiful objects. The trip was designed to inspire creativity, patience, and a better understanding of traditional crafts.
Grades 4 and 5 were taken on an exciting field trip to the local Police Station in Shankarpalli. The purpose of this visit was to help students understand how the police maintain law and order, how cases are handled, and the role of law enforcement in the community. This trip fostered a sense of responsibility and introduced them to important aspects of citizenship and law.
For Grades 6 and 7, we have planned a visit to a nearby Farm. The students will learn about sustainable agriculture and organic farming techniques, and the importance of environmental conservation. This trip is intended to foster a deeper connection with nature and provide practical insights into how food is grown, harvested, and consumed.
The students of Grades 8 and 9 are scheduled to visit a Ready Mix Plant. The goal of this trip is to provide an understanding of industrial production and the relevance of engineering and technology in construction. This is an opportunity for students to see real-world applications of what they’ve learned in their classrooms, enhancing their learning through observation.
Our senior students in Grades 10 to 12 recently visited ICICI Bank branches as part of their curriculum on financial literacy. The purpose was to help students understand banking procedures, the importance of financial management, and various career opportunities in the banking sector. This trip equipped them with practical knowledge about banking systems and financial operations, essential skills for the future.
Such experiential learning opportunities are what make Prachin Global School stand out as one of the best schools in Hyderabad. We’re recognized not only for our academic excellence but also for our emphasis on holistic development. This is why we are consistently ranked as one of the best CBSE schools in Hyderabad, best boarding schools in Shankarpalli, and among the top CBSE residential schools for Grades 11 and 12 in Hyderabad.

For families that frequently relocate due to work or other reasons, CBSE provides a seamless transition for students, allowing them to continue their education without disruption.
2. Focus on Conceptual Learning
CBSE emphasizes understanding concepts over rote learning, which helps students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The curriculum is designed to encourage inquiry-based learning, where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and apply their knowledge in real-life situations. This approach not only makes learning more engaging but also prepares students to tackle complex challenges in higher education and beyond.
3. Comprehensive Preparation for Competitive Exams
CBSE’s curriculum is closely aligned with the syllabus of major national-level competitive exams such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), and more. This alignment gives CBSE students a significant advantage when preparing for these exams, as they are already familiar with the core concepts and exam patterns. Additionally, CBSE schools often provide specialized coaching and resources to help students excel in these exams.

4. Student-Centric Approach
CBSE takes a student-centric approach to education, where the overall well-being and development of students are prioritized. The board has implemented a Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system that assesses students’ performance through regular assessments and activities throughout the year. This system reduces the pressure of one-time exams and encourages continuous learning. Moreover, CBSE's grading system focuses on a student’s overall development rather than just academic performance.
5. Global Recognition and Relevance
CBSE is recognized not only within India but also internationally, with many CBSE-affiliated schools located abroad. This global recognition ensures that students are well-prepared for higher education opportunities both in India and internationally. The board’s curriculum is designed to be relevant and up-to-date with global educational standards, making CBSE students competitive on an international level.
6. Emphasis on Holistic Development
CBSE schools strongly focus on fostering the holistic development of their students. Along with academics, students are encouraged to participate in sports, arts, and extracurricular activities. This well-rounded approach ensures that students develop important life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and time management. CBSE schools often organize various inter-school competitions, workshops, and events to provide students with opportunities to showcase their talents and interests.

The board encourages the use of digital tools, e-learning platforms, and virtual classrooms to make education more accessible and engaging for students. This focus on technology ensures that CBSE students are well-equipped to navigate the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
8. Flexibility in Subject Choices
CBSE offers a wide range of subject choices, especially at the senior secondary level, allowing students to tailor their education according to their interests and career goals. Whether a student is inclined towards Science, Commerce, or Humanities, CBSE provides the flexibility to choose subjects that align with their aspirations. This flexibility empowers students to explore different fields before making informed decisions about their future careers.
9. Inclusive Education for All
CBSE is committed to inclusive education, ensuring that every child, regardless of their abilities or background, has access to quality education. The board has implemented policies to support students with special needs, providing them with the necessary accommodations and resources to succeed. This inclusive approach reflects CBSE’s commitment to creating an equitable and supportive learning environment for all students.
