Goodwill Hunting

Great Day. Discovered the movie “Goodwill Hunting”

And, so far, it’s got synchronicity and resonance with now written all over it.

 It was a 1997 film. Academy Award winner. A Robin Williams movie.

In the movie , there are no cell phones, a Gerry Rafferty song was included,  as were Harvard vs thugs, and  the same dancing figure painting in the girl’d dorm room (photo to follow) as the one  I found in a dumpster in 1987 and still have in my home.

The movie , thus, screams out Jared and Lew. Jared was brilliant in human relations as was the Matt Dillon’s character in the movie.

Regarding my work with the homeless, including letting them stay in my house,  I told my neighbor Jeff that I I crave the connection—the purity of the relationship with the homeless. I can’t put into words why I love it. It’s ineffable.

I can only tell you what I do, what we did. I did say that Jared was the most exquisite person that I have ever met, or encountered. Healing, melding right along side his propensity for intense thievery and addiction.

It’s hard to explain in words why I have encounters with the homeless. There is an aspect of soul truth to the encounters. I think in the encounter I’m attempting to touch the meaning of being human.There is a great purity and a generosity amongst the homeless .They teach me what a human could be.

goodwill hunting review

This was a very comforting movie to watch the characters were amazing i loved Robin Williams's role in this it was very different from his other movies the ending was amazing when he goes back to his girlfriend the “its not ur fault” scene was very sad (i nearly cried) overall i loved this movie 10/10 for me

Lowkey thought this was about goodwill hunting, and i was like but he had friends and then convinced myself that he wasn't real with them uk friendship without vulnerability the Armor of men and what not

okay but imagine being will graham. you've always been kind of socially awkward and weird. your mom left before you were old enough to remember her and your dad was a drunk. you spent your entire childhood hopping from place to place, mostly boatyards and trailer parks. you've never really had any real friends. people find you weird and off-putting and you've decided to enjoy the company of dogs instead. the people who dont find you weird find you useful instead, which is almost worse.

then one day you meet this guy. you dont like him at first, you dont like psychiatrists. they always want to study you. but you slowly realize his interest in you is genuine. he brings you breakfast and makes you laugh. he finds your abilities impressive and sees you as competent and dangerous. he never flinches away from your more violent thoughts and desires. he never makes you feel like a freak. he keeps trying to include you in his world, even though you feel out of place and unworthy. when your job is starting to wear you down and your boss urges you not to quit because you save lives, he says "What about your life? Im your friend, will. i dont care about the lives you save i care about your life." And no one's ever said that to you before. And when everything starts falling apart around you, you go to him because you trust him. You need to trust him.

And when you realize that he has been the one orchestrating your downfall, that he's the one who has been betraying you this whole time, it fucking hurts. and you're angry. you're so fucking angry. and you hate him. because you hate yourself. and you've always hated yourself and you thought maybe he loved you.

This is the painting I found in the dumpster behind my apartment in Sacramento in 1987 that I mentioned in my Goodwill Hunting blog today, 1/10/2025.

It is significant to me because I really started to come out when I lived there and I began to volunteer to help men with AIDS through their illness and death.

Favorite anime?

I haven't been blown out of the water by much lately, but modern wise: I do enjoy Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen. I love Spy x Family. Pop Team Epic bc they are mood kindred.

Older wise, I have nostalgia for Gundam Wing even though the pacing is atrocious. Also, it's hilarious the amount of "I'll kill you/Kill me" lines there are:

The 90s Sailor Moon is a treat and I'd kill for the custom jacket at the museum. Ghost Stories English Dub. Nichijou and Paranoia Agent.

Anime movies: Almost all Ghibli Films, A Silent Voice, pretty much if it's slice of life and depressing af, I will probably like it //WHEEZE

found a btvs s5 box set at my local Goodwill and nearly fainted screamed etc in the aisle and now my mission is to organically find every season at a thrift store. I know I could order them all on eBay but but where’s the fun in that
