In middle of Batman & the Mad Monk after reading Batman & The Monster Men....justice for Julia Madison, you could've been a great character, instead you're anoying and stuck between being horny but angry about Bruce or worried about your father. Neither deserving the patience you have with them.

one thing that strikes me about mob psycho 100 is how closely it hews to shigeo's direct emotional experience. depending on your tastes in worldbuilding and characterization, this can either be a strength... or a weakness.
the only characters fleshed out somewhat are those shigeo is truly close to; almost everyone else is painted with just enough detail to make them feel like people. but not much more... not unlike real-life acquaintances. this rings mostly true for events in the story, too. MP100 also shines very little light on what strangers think of its protagonist, in part because he doesn't notice or care all that much.
and even those people who matter most to him? shigeo doesn't really ask about anyone's inner lives, so we only get to know others at a 'surface' level. what's ON that surface is still rich AF, but it's mostly free of backstory: we get impressionistic flashes of who reigen, and dimple, and ritsu, and teru are almost entirely from what their lives are like in the present. as a result, the story is a very autistic (and for me, relatable) headspace to walk around in.
the mutual bond ritsu and shigeo share would not feel as strong without ONE letting us rummage around inside the younger kageyama brother's head for a bit, of course. shigeo loves his little brother more than anyone else in the world, but he isn't even privy to ritsu's emotional landscape until ritsu lashes out at him in an alley one day.
and we wear reigen's skin the longest, apart from shigeo's, because the boy spends most of his free time at spirits and such. but who was he before shigeo shyly opened his office door in search of empathy? surely he was more than a bored salesman everydude looking for something to give his life meaning, but this is all that we are shown clearly. unfortunately reigen's inner life is terra incognita to shigeo: he doesn't share it with the boy and shigeo doesn't even begin to ask until the story is nearly over.
shigeo in turn shares so little of his inner life with reigen that the man isn't even aware the child has friends his own age. and his immense, map-redrawing destructive capabilities frighten reigen all the more because shigeo never fully trusted him with that knowledge. the wrath of shigeo's shadow self is as ruinous as it is because shigeo couldn't trust anyone with his emotional insides, either.
how well do we really know those we love? how well can we know them?
how well can we know anyone?

MHA is such a shitty anime...but its good to see good animes
1) Undead and Unluck. Its an anime that I genuinely think it has inspiration from Bleach. Rhe last epis sort gave me the vibe
Tumblr media
2) The apothecary diaries- oh it is perfect. It has great female characters aka they are treated as human(you dont need to make your female characters be "too pure for this world") the mc is interesting and the narrative treats well. And the villains are amazing. Well, we have one antagonist foe so far but he may became a villain. The romance is also slow burn and makes sense.
Tumblr media
(This anime has boob jokes that arent there to male gaze)
3) Souson no Frieren. Dude I almost sob when watching the first epi. The way it tackles the trope "immortal one who hangs out with mortals" is touching.
Tumblr media
Also love the mc! She is immortal and at the same time, so human. She cant understand humans entirely but she tries.
Those animes are well better than MHA it only for sticking with the premise. "This is this character's story. Not about the abuser"
"Wait till Hori writes horror" nah. Wait till he learns how to write. It baffles me how unprofessional he is.

On Mass Effect
I love the series as a whole including Andromeda. They are some of my favorite games.
But one of the things I found refreshing about Commander Shepard was that regardless of anything else they are an adult. In fact depending on how you argue it they've completed a post-graduate degree. (N7 training)
In comparison to Ryder from Andromeda who comes across as someone at best having just finished their first year of University
It was nice to have a character who wasn't a teenager going on an adventure. I don't know what games you play but that was most of the protagonists in the ones I've played are, so Shepherd was a refreshing change.
Like I said above I love both series, and I do hope Andromeda gets to be a series. It was just nice to play as an adult for once.

Free Writing Advice From Me(Jimmy Ronan's 13 Tips For Being An Amazing Writer) :P <3
1.) Write For Yourself First
2.) Write For An Audience Second
3.) there is no deadline, take your time
4.) always use names that will get people's attention, a great character needs a great name
5.) put your hopes and your fears and your beliefs into your story(stories)
6.) make something that will make people feel good
7.) have an good overall message/theme
8.) don't be afraid to write characters that are outsiders, these make the best protagonists/heroes/etc
9.) don't purposefully offend people, stories should lift people up, not bring them down/make them feel worse than they already do
10.) always write down or type down any idea that comes to you that sounds good to you, it could become a part of something you already have or will create
11.) writing should be something you enjoy
12.) make it original but also make it familiar
13.) write the story that doesn't exist yet

I'm high and this is fucking me up lol
imagine if you will, a fairly dry survival crafting game in which you live in a bunker and must periodically venture out to scavenge food, set up turrets for attacking monsters, etc
now, your computer inside the bunker has a game-inside-a-game on it which is a charming farming sim of undeniably greater quality and scope than the survival game you're playing. therefore, the object of the game becomes to keep your bunker secure so you can play the farming game more.
now, once you achieve the highest rating in the farming game, a secret shop inside it unlocks, and one of the novelty items you can purchase is a game console, giving you access to games-inside-a-game-inside-a-game. most of the games for it are typical mobile shovelware, but one of them is a highly polished, extremely brutal precision platformer with amazing level design and production values exceeding that of the survival game and farming sim combined.
it is only at this point that the purpose of this entire contrivance becomes clear: to create the most deranged speedrun community the world has ever seen.

if it's good enough for you, then it deserves to be made. don't let anyone else decide if your story is worth it or not.

i think theres this idea in the general public that the "best" fanfic gets turned into real books like 50 shades of grey. but the truth is that the best fanfic can never be published as an actual book because its intricately woven into the canon material so its inseparable even if you change the names
