Exploring the Golgi Apparatus
The Golgi body (inside the cell) receives proteins and lipids from the endoplasmic reticulum, modifies them by adding sugar molecules (glycosylation), sorts them, and then packages them into vesicles for transport to their final destinations—whether that be within the cell or exported outside.
The Golgi body, often referred to as the cell’s "post office" plays a crucial role in processing and packaging proteins and lipids.

Can't stop thinking about Golgi
Tumblr media
It's believed that Golgi was originally an independent organism who was eventually absorbed into our cells, where he began work on his Apparatus.

Golgi (It/They/We)
The second oldest of the bunch, this king is actually two minds in one body!
They, typically, work together without issue, but both “sides” of the body are capable of their own movement and their own gaze.
They’re pretty nerdy and particular about how things are run, and thus oversee nearly the entirety of the Phantom Fortress! It typically works on making new technology for Phantoms & reinforcing what they already have; with most of their assistants being particularly stuck-up Tall Phantoms :]

This is Golgi. Golgi is the number one delivery person at Pleak's delivery company, Pleak's right-hand woman, and her BFF. Not only does she grab the most tasks available due to her skills, she also knows how to catch a ride on the elusive Saddleskippers for longer trips. If you're worried about her being a stuck-up worker drone, she destroys the notion as soon as she greets you. Everyone at the company find her to be a very humble individual who would give her life to protect her squads on missions. Few rumors say that Golgi and Pleak were apart of a team of mutants trained for covert operations inside and out of the C.O.W facility. (I know I should have explained her background first for this blog, but I wanted to brush up on my writing skills first. Had to remember what I wanted to do for the C.O.W project before doing world-building again at the time. Gonna try drawing her later)

And if I remember correctly, the Golgi apparatus is like the mailman.
everyone is talking about how the mitochondria is a powerhouse of the cell don't stop me about how the lysosome is the suicide bag of the cell.

The importance of membrane recycling is best illustrated by cells active in secretion, such as root cap cells (Figure 1.17). Root cap cells secrete copious amounts of mucopolysaccharides (slime), which lubricate the root tip as it grows through the soil; this slime can be seen as the electron-dense secretory material in the Golgi in Figure 1.17B.

The "sloughed off" trans cisternae sometimes are full of secretory content, but they are not round. The trans Golgi network interacts with incoming recycled membrane from the plasma membrane. This recycling of membrane vesicles – from the plasma membrane to the Golgi, from the trans to the cis face of the Golgi, or from the Golgi to the ER – is called retrograde, or backward, movement.

Here's some more old art lol! This was for a biology project earlier this year. It was about organelles. Some of it may not be 100% accurate but I got a 100! so that's all that counts :'>

Prisoner playing the piano, since it is quite prominent in her part of the soundtrack. Also an excellent excuse to draw dapper Prisoner.
