Achilles Heel--Jake Seresin (An Arrangement Series)
An Arrangement Masterlist
Follow here for all updates as I do not have a taglist

warnings: none just fluff
Feedback, asks, comments/reblogs mean the world to me!
Enjoy!
You’d had a wonderful dinner with Jake, he surprised you after work. The night was still young with stars just starting to twinkle in the sky and as he was driving home you saw a billboard advertising a nighttime mini-golf course.
“Can we go mini-golfing?!” you ask him excitedly. “It’s two exits away!”
Jake looks at the billboard apprehensive but replaces it with a soft smile.
“Sure, Sugar.”
He takes the proper exit and finds a parking spot right in front. It’s packed with families and other young couples doing date night. There was an Icee machine, cotton candy, and big pretzels in the concession stands near the entrance. Jake opened your door, helped you out and held your hand all the way up to the ticket booth.
A teenage girl stared wide-eyed as Jake smiled politely at her.
“Two for mini-golf please?” he asks. He releases your hand so he can pull out his wallet, his black Mastercard shining in the night as he hands it to her.
“S-sure,” she stutters. When she grabs the credit card she drops it and it clangs on the metal countertop. She turns tomato red as she swipes the card but it’s approved instantly and she slides it back to him. “You can pick out your ball and putter over there.”
“Thank you,” Jake smiles then tugs you along.
You pick a neon pink ball and Jake wants you to pick one for him so you find a green one to match his eyes. You write down your names on the scorecard and wait your turn at the first hole as a family of three are going. It’s two women and a little boy about four years old, he hits the ball and follows it down the green while both moms are encouraging him and snapping some photos.
“You two can go ahead, Louis likes to whack it in,” the one closest to you says.
“We don’t mind waiting,” you smile then turn to Jake, “Isn’t he adorable?”
“He is determined,” Jake grins.
When they make it to the second hole, Jake has you go first and you line up for the shot. The first hole is winding with rocks alternating down as obstacles so you’re trying to aim in between them. You hit it with your putter and the ball doesn’t hit a rock until the very last one which lands your ball against the wall but it’s near the hole.
“Good job, Sugar,” Jake praises and you smile proudly at him before moving out of his way.
It takes him a bit longer to line up his shot as you watch him carefully, he seems nervous and antsy. He swings his putter and the ball hits the very first rock, rolling right back to him.
“That’s okay, go again,” you tell him.
He moves the ball back to its spot in front of his feet, his leather shoes shining against the outdoor lights. You back up a little to admire him in his fancy outfit playing mini-golf so you inconspicuously pull out your phone to snap a picture.
“Hey! No flash photography,” he warns.
“Sorry,” you giggle pocketing it back into your Coach crossbody. Another gift from Jake.
He lines up again, biting his lip and hits the ball. It goes halfway down the green so you follow him to the spot. He hits two more rocks before he finally makes it to the hole. He lets you go first and you tap it in easily but he takes two more strokes. Jake looks mildly irritated as you move to hole number two but you pass it off as not playing in a while.
As you move along the course Jake becomes increasingly irritable as it takes him double the time to score than you. You get to the fifth hole where you have to hit your ball into one of three holes so it will drop down below. Yours goes in the middle and you get a hole in one but Jake’s ball is hit a little too hard and it smacks off the back wall rolling right to him.
“Fuck,” he hisses quietly and you snap your head at him. You’ve never heard him swear before. He’s gripping the handle of his putter tightly.
“Have you played mini-golf before?” you ask carefully.
“Of course I have,” he grunts and goes again. The ball goes in the hole on the far left and you run to the edge to see it roll into a makeshift sand pit. “Where’d it go?”
“In the made-up sand pit,” you smile apologetically. The muscle in his jaw ticks and he walks past you to go down the small flight of stairs.
You follow him just as he angles himself awkwardly on the green and wood chips so he can hit his ball. He hits it a bit too hard and goes way past the hole. He grunts again and you move in front of him.
“Hey, hey, hey, slow down,” you place your hand over his hand gripping the putter too tightly. His grip relaxes at your touch but his expression is still hard as he looks down at you. “Are you sure you’ve played before?”
“Once when I was younger. I’m used to regular golf, where you have to hit it hard. This putter is too small and this course has too many weird obstacles,” he huffs.
A snorted laugh escapes you and you cover your mouth while Jake tries to move out of your way.
“No, no, no, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry!” you move in front of him again grabbing hold of his cheek. He pointedly avoids your eyes. “I’m not laughing at you, honey, I swear. It’s just…you’re so good at everything else, I thought this would be a piece of cake for you.”
“Yeah, well, it’s my achilles heel,” he grunts.
“If you don’t like it then why did we come?”
“Because you seemed so excited and I want you to be happy,” he finally meets your gaze.
“Oh, Jake, that’s so sweet,” you rise on your toes to kiss him softly on the lips. “We can stop if you want to.”
“No, we’re almost done and you’re enjoying yourself. Just promise me one thing?” he asks.
“What’s that?”
“Don’t tell the guys I suck at mini-golf?”

golf date | will and dani
so here's a short fic about will and dani golfing together.
~
one morning while dani is visiting will in mass, he asks dani, "hey baby, would you wanna come golfing with me?"
"do I have to golf or can I just watch?" dani asks while cuddling into will. he smiles and kisses her head, "if you wanna just watch you can. but I'd like you to play at least one hole. or try."
"fine. but you get one hole out of me. after that, I'm sitting in the cart, looking cute, and staring at your ass." dani says and presses onto will's chest. he smiles and holds dani close until they absolutely have to get up.
few days later, they finally go golfing. will takes her out to the course he grew up going to and dani spends the first few holes sitting in the cart. it's like 8am and that's really early for dani, so she's sipping on her coffee trying to wake up while will goes out and starts at the first hole.
after the first couple of holes, dani is finally awake and her personality is too. will smiles at her, "you wanna come out and play the hole?"
"do I have to?" dani whines back. will nods and she trudges out of the cart to look at his clubs. she asks will, "what's your shortest club in length? I think your driver might be too long."
"just grab it and I'll help you adjust." will says and dani rolls her eyes before grabbing it out of his bag. she steps up and takes an extra step back. will goes to put his hands on her waist to adjust her and she says, "don't you dare. I got it. my brothers taught me how to golf, just give me a sec."
will backs off and dani takes a few swings before setting up on the tee. she takes her swing and pipes the ball. she turns at will with a smile and his jaw had dropped. he says, "holy shit dani. you piped that."
"I told you I could golf. I actually hit it farther with the men's clubs than with women's because men's are heavier and it's physics."
will still can't believe how far dani hit the ball. she snaps at him, "close your mouth. we have a hole to play." he nods and they get int he cart to hunt down their balls. dani's ends up farther than will's and she says, "I'm playing one hole and that's it. I hate golfing."
"fine baby. but I better get kisses when you stop playing."
"you get enough of those." dani says rolling her eyes. will smiles, "yea but you love me. so you always give me kisses."
"you're such a child will." dani says approaching her ball with a 9 iron. she swings and hits it on the green while will is sitting just a little bit off the green. will smiles at his girlfriend, "just because you think I'm a child doesn't mean that you don't love me."
"whatever. just hit your ball." dani says and will swings.
long story short, dani wins the hole but immediately sits down int he cart. she pouts to will, "how much longer? it's hot and I just wanna go in the pool."
"can I finish the front 9?" will proposes. dani nods and sits in the shade of the cart while will finishes his holes. after its' all said and done and they get back to will's, will asks dani while they are cuddling in bed for the night, "how come you hate golfing so much? you're so good at it d."
dani sighs, "because my dad used to take me, ty, and dyl out golfing while Alyssa was with my mom and if I did better than ty, he'd always try to hit me with his putter. so overtime I stopped going and would go out with my mom and Alyssa because I didn't wanna deal with ty being a sore loser. he still is by the way, only now he takes it out on Dylan and not me."
will frowns and kisses dani's head, "I'm sorry. he shouldn't have tried to hit you with his putter. that's not fair."
"thanks. but it's fine. I'm over it, I just don't enjoy golfing anymore. I refuse to go with ty and every once in a while I'll go with dyl but that's rare. I just don't like being in the sun that long." dani says while playing with the curls on will's head. he says, "but you liked golfing with me right?"
"will, I love doing anything with you. and I love you. I don't think I say it enough but I do." dani explains while looking in his eyes. will brushes hair out of dani's face and smiles, "I know you do dani. I know that you love me and you don't have to say it because I know. and I love you too baby. so much." will kisses her softly and the two fall asleep holding each other tightly.

In a craven, pathetic, cynical, and transparently desperate ploy to energize his torpid 2024 campaign and match his rival Desantis, Twice-Impeached Ex-President Trump has shuffled out of his Florida tanning tank to join the gibbering chorus of Far-Right trans-panic by releasing a video on Truth Social. The full statement amounts to a hate-ridden, incendiary rant that proposes nationwide federal action that would threaten the health and well-being of trans people, in particular trans children, and will use the law to enforce a rigid, hetero-normative, cisgender social order.
You can watch the full video here on Forbes if you choose to. I advise against it, personally. The years since his removal from public office and most social media seems to have had atrophied my tolerance. It’s probably why I was somehow shocked at how a video less than four minutes long can cram so much ignorance, falsehoods, hateful invective, and unhinged demagoguery in such a short period of time.
Pages of ink could be spilled breaking down every ranting tangent, from threats to prosecute doctors and hospitals providing gender affirming care, the distasteful novelty of calling trans children mutants, inventing a conspiracy of pharmaceutical companies selling unsafe hormones and puberty blockers to children, and proposes using the federal government to “promote” aka enforce “positive education of the nuclear family” and the “role of mothers and fathers,” sprinkled with some good old fashioned sex-based bio-essentialism.
The crescendo, the real red meat dripping with bloody doctrine, is at the end:
“I will ask congress to pass a bill establishing that the only genders recognized by the United States Government are male and female and they are assigned at birth.”
“The Bill will also make clear that Title 9 prohibits men from participating in womens’ sports and we will protect the rights of parents from being forced to allow their minor child to assume a gender which is new and an identity without the parents’ consent. The identity will not be new and it will not be without parental consent.”
“No serious country should be telling its children that they were born with the wrong gender, a concept that was never heard of in all of human history - nobody’s ever heard of this, what’s happening today - it was all when the radical left invented it just a few years ago.”
He ends it all with a chilling conclusion. “Under my leadership, this madness will end.”
I’ve done my best since his departure from office to avoid talking about this sad orange failure puttering around his private golf course while lawsuits and legal investigations pile around him. But I’ve heard little mainstream discussion of this announcement; how Far-Right transphobic rhetoric is being elevated to the level of presidential politics.
While Trump was never friendly to the LGBTQ community, he was also prone to mocking the likes of Pence for his desire of wanting to “hang the gays.” Did his Administration do harm to the queer community? Yes, undeniably so. But to me it felt obligatory, with little energy or drive behind it, as Trump ultimately didn’t care. The callous apathy of an incurious narcissist.
Now, whether he believes the nonsense he’s spewing or not, Trump sees that the Republican base has been driven to a mad fervor over the existence of trans folks. So, like the cynical, amoral opportunist he is, he will regurgitate the vile hateful garbage his speechwriters feed him for political and financial gain.
Whether he gets the nomination or not, this announcement will set the tone for the entire Republican presidential primary of 2024.
#Transphobia#Trans Panic#Donald Trump#Fascism#Queerphobia#LGBTQ Rights#I remember during the 2016 campaign#Trump had said to a room of Republicans#''To protect our LGBTQ citizens from the violence and oppression of a hateful *foreign* ideology.''#to thunderous applause#because of course it was all an excuse to spread Islamaphobia#a way to assuage themselves into believing they weren't bigots#''Well we're not stoning and shooting them! we're nice *reasonable* people! Not like those foreign *Monsters*.''#Trump even has to say 'LGBTQ' with such halting awkwardness because it's just a thing he doesn't know or care about#you can even hear it in the video announcement#the little awkward asides he makes that breaks the flow of the speech:#''Very Simple!''#''Can you believe this?''#''Ridiculous!''#and of course the ''Nobody’s ever heard of this what’s happening today.''#this is his tell#*He's* never heard of it#all of this is a subject he knows nothing about#so all the info he has is what his handlers feed him#and is just parroting the pre-existing rhetoric#I'm not saying he isn't a bigot - what I'm saying is he's the worst kind of enabler#a know-nothing buffoon who is just catering to the worst common denominator for his own personal gain#with zero regard for the harm it will cause#and honestly? it doesn't matter what he does or doesn't believe#all that matters is that he's spreading it and trying to profit from it

Dorothy Campbell Hurd Howe was born on March 24th 1883 at North Berwick.
Born as Dorothy Lee Campbell, Dorothy was the first woman to dominate the international female golf, between 1905 and 1912, she won 10 national championships in Scotland, America, Canada and England. Then, 12 years later, she won the American title once more.
As Dorothy Campbell, and later as Mrs. J.V. Hurd, her count of national amateurs was three Scottish, three U.S., two British and three Canadian. In 1909, she became the first woman to win the U.S. and British Amateurs in the same year.
Dorothy grew up with the town’s famous links, where her paternal grandfather and eight uncles all played, as her playground. She took her first swing when she was 18 months, and by age five, was playing matches against her older sisters.
Campbell did not evolve into a top player until her later teens, when she changed what had been a half swing into a full one. In 1905 she won her first Scottish Ladies title, played at the North Berwick links, more than 4,000 people watched her win the final on the 19th hole. She repeated in 1906 and 1908. The next year she entered the U.S. Women’s Amateur for the first time and won at the Merion Cricket Club. When she returned to achieve her first victory in the British Women’s Amateur Championship at Royal Birkdale, it was an unprecedented double.
In 1910, Campbell moved to Canada and won the country’s championship three consecutive years before moving to the United States permanently in 1913. When she won the American title again in 1924, she was 41 years old. She remains the championship’s oldest winner, and her 15-year span between victories is also the longest in the event’s history.
Hurd advanced women’s golf in America by being the first to aim directly at the pin on her approaches instead of just the general vicinity of the green. She had a tremendous short game, which she once said, “is almost second nature to me.” A deadly putter, she was even better from just off the green. Her favourite club was a goose-necked mashie she called “Thomas.” It was “Thomas” that she gave credit to for her American-British double at Birkdale she used the club to hole out at a crucial point in the match. In the final of the 1921 North and South championship at Pinehurst, “Thomas” holed two shots.
After her flurry of national titles, Campbell married and her golf career hit a fallow period. When she lost the final of the 1920 U.S. Amateur to Alexa Stirling, it appeared to be her last hurrah. But in 1923, seeing that many women were out-driving her by using a more modern technique, she concluded that her game needed updating. She changed her swing returning to winning ways at the 1924 U.S. Amateur at Rhode Island C.C., she rolled through the field, ultimately defeating Mary K. Browne, the national lawn tennis champion of 1912 and 1913, 7 and 6, in the final.
Although it was Hurd’s last championship, she was far from finished as a golfer. In 1926, she set out to surpass the record for fewest putts in 18 holes, 21, which had been set by Walter J. Travis. At the Augusta C.C., Hurd came to the 18th hole with 19 putts, when she holed out from off the green using “Thomas,” her famous mashie.
She married Jack V. Hurd in Wentworth, Ontario, Canada on 11 February 1913. Hurd was a steel magnate living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She won many of her titles as Mrs. J. V. Hurd, but she and Hurd were divorced in 1923. Dorothy married Edward Howe in 1937 and divorced again in 1943.
Her life ended tragically in a railway accident on March 20, 1945, falling off a platform and into the path of an oncoming train.
She was inducted to the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1978.

Fortune Sims are the best - Annabelle immediately rolled wants to skill up for her next promotion, so she popped on her Thinking Cap and jumped onto the golf putter.
Meanwhile, Bunty was actually doing a half-decent job at autonomously socialising with her new acquaintance.
Eventually dinner time rolled around and Annabelle had to serve up a whole new plate of spaghetti so she could call everyone to the meal because all of the grilled cheese in the fridge had been stored as single plates and her husband and kids were apparently incapable of grabbing one.
Why does this feel like I'm describing the plight of women everywhere? 😂

A Comprehensive Guide to Ladies Golf Gear: Essentials for Performance and Style
Introduction:
Golf has been the sport of skill, strategy, and etiquette for a long time. Traditionally, this is one male-dominated sport, but of late women have not only taken to this sport but are also making their dent with skill and panache. This swing in the interest of women has raised demand for high-quality, performance-oriented, and stylish ladies' golf gear. From clubs designed for the ladies' needs to apparel for comfort and functionality, ladies' golf gear today comes in an impressive array of options. This guide should take a closer look at everything you need to know about ladies' golf gear, from ladies' golf clubs and on-course clothing to shoes and other accessories designed specifically for women. Whether you're a true beginner or a very experienced player, investing in the right gear will go a long way in making a huge difference in your game.
Key Components of Ladies Golf Gear
Women's Golf Clubs
Driver: Generally, ladies' drivers are made a bit lighter and with a higher loft so they can hit longer distances without needing to use so much energy.
Irons and Wedges: Ladies' irons are often fitted with a graphite shaft and of a slightly reduced length so it allows giving more swing control.
Putter: Most putters are made with smaller grips and lengths for better handling and control.
Hybrids: They are favorite for lady golfers, for they can offer versatility the same way as long irons but are fairly much easier to maneuver.
Ladies Golf Bags
Cart Bags: These are heavier and a perfect choice for those golfers who intend to use a golf cart. Cart bags may be availed with voluminous storage and easy access to equipment.
Stand Bags: Stand bags are both light weight and portable, with a feature that makes them favorable to golfers who enjoy walking the course.
Carry Bags: Super lightweight for those players who carry only the bare essentials, they have few pockets for ease of handling.
Ladies' Golf Clothing
Polo Shirts and Sleeveless Tops: Designed for comfort in breathable materials like polyester or cotton blends for fabulous stretch and cool factor.
Golf Skorts and Shorts: The comfort of shorts with the appeal of a skirt in skorts has made them hot favorites amongst golfing women. Shorts and capris are great for hot weather.
Outerwear: Windbreakers, waterproof jackets, and layering pieces provide added comfort on colder months or rainy days. Headwear: Hats and visors are vital for protection from the sun to
keep you in focus for the game.
Women's Golf Shoes
Spiked vs. Spikeless: Spiked shoes assure much better grip on wet or hilly areas, while spikeless shoes will be comfortable and versatile on flatter courses.
Breathability/Waterproofing: A waterproof option would be a decent choice to keep your feet dry during dewy mornings or in rainy conditions.
Arch Support/Cushioning: Proper support is highly imperative in avoiding any signs of fatigue, particularly when you are most likely to walk the course.
The Essentials On-Course Accessories
Golf Gloves: In order to maintain proper grip and avoid any blister formations, women's gloves come in multiple sizes that will fit your hand just right.
Rangefinders: Devices used to measure distances to pins, rangefinders prove quite helpful to establish the accuracy of your shots.
Golf Tees and Balls: Women's golfing balls are usually softer to allow for more spin and control.
Towels and Ball Markers: The towels will keep your clubs clean while the ball markers will help you mark your spot on the green. Umbrella: A good quality golf umbrella will keep you dry from those quick showers.
How to Pick the Ideal Ladies Golf Equipment: Things to Consider
Budget
This will define your quality and quantity of gear that you can purchase. It is better to splurge on high-quality essentials like clubs and shoes and economize on the other less-than-necessary things that can be replaced afterward.
Skill Level
This may mean the beginner devoting more attention to the main tools of the trade, while the intermediate and advanced player seeks special tools that help fine tune certain parts of their game. For each of these three levels of player, there is a set by the likes of both TaylorMade and Callaway.
Personal Comfort
Comfort should be a priority in your gear selection. Break in shoes to ensure adequate support, and check your clubs for just the right grip. Your apparel should permit freedom of movement; breathable fabrics are best, especially for summer rounds.
Course Conditions
If you play lots of hilly or wet courses, then spiked shoes will help provide traction. Waterproofed apparel and bags can help in rainy conditions; in warm, flat courses lighter, breathable clothing and spikeless shoes work nicely.
Style Preferences
To many women golfers, fashionably designed and stylish gear helps to reflect their personalities. Many golf apparel brands realize this and offer designs that integrate style with functionality. Look for items that can make you feel confident on the course.
Brands that Shine in Ladies Golf Gear
A few brands rise to the top in the ladies golf gear market, combining quality and performance with style. Here is a brief summary of some of the notable names:
TaylorMade: Renowned for high-performance clubs and innovation, TaylorMade's women's line includes clubs designed with lighter materials for optimal speed and distance.
Callaway: Popular for forgiving clubs and reliable balls, this brand works well for beginning and intermediate players.
Nike and Adidas: These companies are the leading golf apparel brands providing moisture-wicking clothing, comfortable shoes, and stylish outerwear designed just for women.
FootJoy: This is a well-recognized name in footwear for golfers. FootJoy has spiked and spikeless options with exceptional arch support and comfortable cushioning.
Ping: Ping offers complete sets tailored to women, along with lightweight and durable golf bags that boast ample storage for all accessories.
Women's Golf Equipment FAQs
What should I look for when purchasing lady's golf clubs?
Selection is based on material, length, and weight. Women's clubs are lighter and shorter; the shafts are also more flexible to accommodate the slow swinging speed. A full set of hybrids and putters would be better for beginners because both can lighten the burden of learning.
Are there certain clothing brands that actually address the needs for women's golf apparel?
Yes, several brands are into women's golf attire. These include Nike, Adidas, Callaway, and Puma. These companies have made clothes to provide comfort, flexibility, and style. Most of them contain high-performance fabrics for efficient sweat removal and to keep you cool. Many options provide freedom of movement.
How often should I replace my golf gear, particularly clubs and shoes?
Gear replacement does depend on usage and wear. Most golf clubs will generally last about 3-5 years, but drivers and putters will very well probably outlive the set. Shoes should be changed every 1-2 years, especially if one plays a lot. Always check all your gear for wear and tear, since performance could be affected when using worn-out gear.
What type of golf balls does one recommend for ladies to improve their performance?
They tend to be softer so it allows for more control and greater distances. Titleist, Callaway, and Bridgestone are a few that make women's golf balls designed for slower swing speeds, thus providing even better performance and accuracy.
Is there gear available to enhance my game?
But several accessories will help you take your game to the next level, such as rangefinders for accurately determining distances, gloves for a firmer yet sure grip, and putting mats for training. Even the tiniest accessories like ball markers and divot tools come in pretty handy and also keep your good etiquette going.

10 Essential Golf Tips for Beginner Women Golfers - The Do's and Don'ts of Choosing Golf Clubs
Golf has increasingly become a popular sport amongst women, with more and more women taking up the sport every year. Whether it's the allure of the green, the challenge of the game, or the opportunity for socialization, golf provides an engaging experience for all. For beginner women golfers, one of the first pivotal steps on this exciting journey is choosing the right golf clubs. This decision can significantly influence your game and enjoyment, making it essential to get it right from the start.
In this article, we’ll guide you through the essentials of selecting the perfect golf clubs for beginner women golfers. From understanding the basics to maintenance and care, we’ve got you covered.
Understanding the Basics of Golf Clubs
When venturing into selecting golf clubs, it's crucial for beginner women golfers to grasp the fundamentals. Golf clubs are not one-size-fits-all; their variety caters to different aspects of the game, including drivers for long tee shots, irons for various distances, wedges for short game precision, and putters for the green. Each type serves a unique purpose and choosing the right combination can significantly impact your performance on the course. Additionally, the club's shaft flex, weight, and length can influence swing mechanics and ball trajectory, making it vital to select clubs that match your physical attributes and skill level.
Do’s and Don’ts of Choosing Golf Clubs
Read more information at: How to choose golf clubs for women beginners
Do:
Consult with a Professional: Before making any purchase, it's advisable to consult with a golf professional or a qualified club fitter. They can assess your swing, height, strength, and playing style to recommend clubs that will complement your game.
Test Before You Buy: Many golf shops offer demo days or fitting sessions. Take advantage of these opportunities to swing different clubs and feel which ones suit you best.
Don't:
Ignore Club Length: Playing with clubs that are too long or too short can adversely affect your swing mechanics and overall performance. Ensure the clubs you choose are properly sized for your height and arm length.
Overlook the Importance of Grip Size: The grip is your only contact point with the club. Grips that are too large or too small can hinder your ability to control the club during your swing. Select a grip size that feels comfortable and allows for proper hand placement.
Finding the Right Fit Golf Clubs
Choosing the right golf clubs is a critical element of maximizing your potential on the course. Here's a deeper look into the do's and don'ts to consider when selecting your clubs.
Do:
Research on Club Types: Understand the specific roles of different clubs in your bag. For example, woods are designed for long-distance shots from the tee or fairway, while irons are used for a variety of shots from different distances, focusing on precision. Wedges offer high precision and control in short-distance shots, particularly near the green. Knowing the purpose of each can help you make informed decisions.
Consider Your Skill Level: Your choice of clubs should reflect your experience and skill level. Beginners might benefit from clubs that offer more forgiveness on off-centre hits, whereas experienced golfers might prefer clubs that offer more control and the ability to shape shots.
Don't:
Neglect Shaft Options: The rigidity of the club's shaft, known as "flex", can have a significant impact on your shot. Shafts that are too stiff or too flexible for your swing speed can lead to problems with accuracy, distance, and trajectory. It's crucial to select a shaft that matches your swing speed and style.
Forget About Club Weight and Balance: The weight and balance of a club can profoundly influence your swing. Some golfers may prefer a heavier club that helps increase swing speed, while others find better control with a lighter club. A properly balanced club can improve both the comfort and accuracy of your shots.
Selecting the right golf clubs involves a mix of understanding your own game, acknowledging where you want to improve, and knowing the technical aspects of golf equipment. It's a process that combines personal preference with practical considerations, aimed at enhancing your enjoyment and performance on the course.
Tips For Maintaining and Caring For Golf Clubs
Do:
Regularly Clean Your Clubs: Keeping your clubs clean is not just about aesthetics; it's crucial for maintaining their performance. Dirt and debris can affect the spin, flight, and accuracy of your shots. After every round or practice session, use a soft brush and mild soap to clean the heads, shafts, and grips of your clubs, ensuring they are in optimal condition for your next game.
Check for Wear and Tear: Regular inspection of your clubs can help you identify signs of wear and tear that could impact your game. Pay special attention to the grips, as worn-out grips can lead to a loss of control and accuracy. Similarly, inspect the club heads for any damage that might affect your shots' trajectory and distance.
Store Your Clubs Properly: Correct storage of your golf clubs can significantly extend their life. Avoid leaving them in extreme conditions, such as the hot trunk of a car, as this can warp the shafts and damage the clubs. Store them in a cool, dry place, ideally in a golf bag that keeps them organized and protected.
Don't:
Ignore the Importance of Grip Size and Material: The right grip size and material can drastically improve your feel and control over the club. Playing with grips that are too large or too small for your hands can hinder your ability to perform your best. Additionally, the material of the grip (e.g., rubber, corded, or wrap) can affect your comfort and the club's performance in different weather conditions.
Overlook the Need for Professional Fitting: Even with a good understanding of what you need, a professional fitting can fine-tune your choices to your exact swing characteristics. A professional can analyze your swing speed, style, and preferences to recommend the best clubs for your game, adjusting the length, lie angle, and shaft flex to suit your specifics.
Neglect to Update Your Set as Your Game Evolves: Your golf game will change over time as you develop skills and preferences. What worked for you as a beginner might not serve you well as you improve. Be open to updating your clubs to match your evolving game, whether it means adding specialized clubs, such as different wedges or a hybrid, or changing your entire set to better match your current skill level.
By focusing on both the maintenance and care of your golf clubs, as well as being mindful of equipment choices and updates, you can ensure your gear supports your performance and love of the game for years to come.
Conclusion
Choosing the right golf clubs as a beginner woman golfer is a critical step toward refining your game and enhancing your golfing experience. By understanding the basics, seeking personalized fitting, and maintaining your clubs well, you can set the stage for success on the golf course. We encourage all beginner women golfers to take control of their club selection process and continuously explore methods to improve their game.
