PTE Golf Announces New Product: the ‘Golf Cup Lifter’ PTE Golf announces a partnership with Golf Cup Lifter, the premier product for providing a safe, socially distant golfing experience.
Per the latest USGA rules of golf following 13.2a(2), “There will no longer be a penalty if a ball played from the putting green hits a flag stick left in the hole.” Coinciding with covid-19, many clubs have been looking for ways to retrieve golf balls hands-free. Rather than using foam inserts in the holes, which can hold bacteria, why not make things easy on your players and provide a hands-free alternative that’s more sanitary, more convenient, and more aesthetically pleasing? Unlike other similar products on the market, the Golf Cup Lifter wraps completely around the flag stick, and is made of high density polyethylene. The Lifter is extremely durable to all of the elements. It is easy to set up and takes less than a minute to be installed onto any 0.5" standard or tapered golf flag. The material used is rated for UV protection and is also waterproof. When hit by the golf ball, the Lifter’s plastic bends— rated up to 55 lbs of force, you won’t have to worry about our Lifter breaking. To use the Golf Cup Lifter, after hitting one’s ball into the hole, the player would simply hook their golf club on the handle of the Lifter and pull upward in a swift motion; the ball will pop out of the hole, no bending over or contact required! “These devices are a perfect solution to the COVID situation, and their use will extend to seniors once COVID is over. They’re so simple to install and use; I can’t believe we didn’t think of this sooner,” says CEO Matt Pollitt of the product. Priced at just $159 for a nine-hole set, $229 for 18 holes, $299 for 27 holes, and $359 for 36 holes, our Golf Cup Lifter is less than one-third the cost of similar products on the market. Each set comes with an extra Lifter, in case a spare is needed; additional replacements can be purchased, as well.

Cup Pong Game Pigeon Not Working
20 cups, 2 balls, and 2 iPhones is all that you need to play the latest Gamepigeon iMessage game, “Cup Pong”. This game is a digital version of the popular party drinking game known as beer pong. The game is set up with 20 solo cups — 10 on each side– forming a pyramid. 4 cups in the back row, 3 in the next, 2 cups ahead, and a final.
When I was playing Cup Pong in Game Pigeon, I used Auto Touch to record a swipe I did for a cup. When I recorded the swipe, I got a cup. After that recording - I started a new game to test the recording and replay it to see if it would go in the same cup. After I played the recording, it didn’t go in the same cup.

Reception[edit]
GamePigeon has enjoyed commercial success, with VentureBeat noting that GamePigeon was ranked number-one in the 'Top Free' category of the iMessage App Store, six months after its release.[11] Critically, GamePigeon has been generally well received, being highlighted by online media publications early on shortly after the iOS 10 launch.[10] It has since been included on many 'best iMessage apps' lists.[3][8][11] Based on over 88,000 ratings, the game holds a 4.2 out of 5 rating on the App Store.[6] Julian Chokkattu of Digital Trends wrote 'GamePigeon should be like the pre-installed versions of Solitaire and Minesweeper that used to come with older iterations of Windows.'[8] On its launch day, Boy Genius Report included it on a list of '10 of the best iMessage apps, games and stickers for iOS 10 on launch day.'[2]The Daily Dot wrote, 'GamePigeon is easily the best current gaming option within iMessages.'[3]

In 2017, CNBC cited one teenager who expressed that GamePigeon was one of just a few reasons that those in her age range use the iMessage app.[14] The game has received particular positive reception for allowing introverted individuals to exercise a form social activity; similarly, the game was highlighted as a way to maintain social distancing guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic.[7][15][16]
Influence[edit]
Snapchat released an in-message games app called Snapchat Games.[17]
As an April Fools' Day joke, The Chronicle, a Duke University newspaper, published that Duke's athletic program adopted Cup Pong as an official varsity sport.[18]

The Chomicle
No March Madness, no problem.
Duke Athletics made history this week, becoming the first collegiate program to recognize GamePigeon's Cup Pong as an official varsity sport. The decision will cost the University $5 million in scholarships, licensing fees, equipment and more, but it comes at a time when the country yearns for athletic competition, in whatever form it may take.
“COVID-19 has forced the University’s hand,” Director of Athletics Kevin Spite said. “Nobody cares about basketball anymore. Duke is, and always will be, about The Pong.”
A reckoning some say has been long coming, Duke has announced its decision amid efforts to recruit and train some of the most talented in the game. Reports from Adrian Wojzyzewski have identified already-enrolled freshman John Piazza as a potential target for recruitment efforts.
Piazza, in his short playing career, is racking up a .75 cup per shot average and acquires balls back at a clip of one every two turns. The freshman has attracted attention from the transfer portal as well as professional play, but he says he remains committed to staying and completing his degree and Cup Pong career at Duke.

“I would be lying if I said the money wasn’t tempting,” Piazza said. “But my mom has always told me that my education comes first, and virtual drinking second. I’ll be honored to play out my years in front of the Blue Devil faithful. Pro ball can wait.”
And the Blue Devils will need him to perform, their hopes of a high seed in the National Consumption of Alcohol Association tournament being predicated on his next few matchups. It’s a lot to expect of an 18-year-old, but Piazza is actually hitting his peak performance years.
The founder of GamePigeon, Raspy Coo, could not be reached for comment, as she was doing her business above your Honda Civic at press time. However, she has made it known in the past that she will tolerate no bouncing whatsoever in the sport she invented.
“I removed us from March Madness because I knew it was the right thing to do,” President Rinse Price said. “But now, it is time to give the students something to cheer for.”
And for all of us, this comes as a boon to our spirits—our Blue Devils on the national stage, once again. Redemption.

Making Performance 1 - Week 1
Describe briefly in a few sentences what each of the Paines Plough monologues was about.
Chris Thorpe - Manchester
The narrator recalls the time he awakes at a party to find his friend squatting over his face with their genitals on his lips. He drunkenly yet calmly goes back home to retrieve an iron golf club before making his way back to his friend’s home. The narrator assaults his friend with the club and recollects how his old football coach said he had a lot of power but no control. It deals with topics such as masculinity and power.
Hannah Silva - Plymouth
In this monologue, the narrator talks in snippets about a poet and a musician who writes letters. They talk about seeing a city in flames and bombs. At the end of the monologue, it is revealed the musician is the poet’s father and he is dreaming of the past due to a blood clot in his brain.
Chloe Moss - Liverpool
This monologue tells the story of a school girl - one who suffers from anxious thoughts - bunking school. She talks about a mantra she invented to repeat whenever she needs reassurance. She walks to the beach despite having a fear of quicksand and meets an older woman and her dog. The woman talks about her dead son whilst the narrator goes across the beach to fetch the dog’s ball. When she returns, she realised she didn’t need to repeat her mantra and that her fear may in fact be irrational.
Zia Ahmed - London
This monologue talks about the narrator’s break up. He talks about trying to explain to his girlfriend why he wants to end things, repeating the saying ‘I love you but we’re different’. Throughout the monologue, he adds more detail to why they’re different and eventually reveals it’s because of his Pakistani heritage. The monologue details the struggles the narrator faces due to his race in and out of London and how London is multicultural. The reason the narrator wants to break up is due to the fact that his girlfriend could never relate to his struggles and never will. They’re too different and they’ve come to the point where the narrator feels he can’t function in the relationship anymore.
Alan Harris - Cardiff
The narrator recalls the first time he was arrested as an adult. He was at a party and missed the bus home so decided to walk. He steals a pushbike and whilst fixing the broken chains, the police arrest him. In his cell, he sees a duck and in a strange turn of events, becomes the duck. He has both his own consciousness as well as the ducks within his head and decides he wants his webbed feet to be wet. He sits on the toilet in the cell with his feet in the water and falls asleep. When the police let him go at 5am, he catches sight of a flock of ducks in the sky.
What images/characters/moments particularly stuck out for you in any of the Paines plough monologues and why? (Choose 3)
In Silva’s monologue, I liked the use of unfinished sentences, stammering, pauses and repetition. The broken and staggering momentum of the monologue while at first confusing, eventually creates an overall clear image of an old man’s fragmented memory. The repetition and pauses work well to represent the father’s vague memories and give the impression of dreaming. This links to the fact that the narrator’s father is having strange dreams of ‘city in flames’ and ‘bombs’ and therefore, due to the blood clot, is reliving his times in the war. As the monologue goes on, more information is revealed to the listener and represents how the father’s memories are coming in bits and pieces. His confusion is portrayed through the pauses and stammering. I loved how the physical speech of the monologue represented what was happening within it.
I was particularly drawn to the end moment of Moss’s monologue when the narrator realises she didn’t repeat her mantra on her journey across the beach. I think this moment is a warm and happy one that shows how each character helped one another. The narrator helped brightened the older woman’s day on the anniversary of her son’s suicide. The older woman helped the narrator to forget about her anxious thoughts for a moment and allowed her to realise that she doesn’t need to rely on her mantra all the time. This moment brings the monologue to a conclusion and shows how they’ve helped one another.
In Ahmed’s monologue, I liked the use of repetition of the phrase ‘I love you but we’re different’. The repetition reinforces the idea that the narrator needs someone who can relate to the racial struggles he faces daily and that it has become so important to him that even love can’t solve the issue. As the monologue progresses, the narrator adds more reasons as to why he can’t see their relationship working anymore. The constant ‘I love you’ makes the monologue feel so much more heartbreaking as it’s not a lack of love or commitment that is failing their relationship but factors that cannot be altered.
How were the National Theatre Scotland monologues using the frame (screen) to successfully tell a story?
In A Mug’s Game, the monologue is staged as an interview with the actor placed on screen from the shoulders up with a plain background. The actor tells the story like that with the occasional clip that shows workers on the shipyard. It creates a very professional and informative setting. I feel it is engaging like a documentary is and this setting is successful in using the frame to do this.
In Isolation, the monologue is staged on screen as if the narrator is filming a video diary for her child who has been taken away due to the need to isolate from Covid-19. We see the narrator in bed talking directly to the camera and in between we are shown clips taken from the narrator’s isolation daily routine. These include washing hands, playing with her child’s toys and walking around her home as ‘exercise’. These repetitive and mundane scenes only reinforce the frustration and sadness the narrator feels about living alone and missing her child. The openness to the camera due to the narrator addressing her child, creates a vulnerability that works well to tell her story.

U.S. Open: Carnage awaits on Winged Foot’s West Course
As is common apply, Gary Woodland was chipping balls out of thick tough throughout his preliminary prep at Winged Foot forward of this week’s U.S. Open. However as his caddie, Brennan Little, retrieved the golf balls and tossed them again to Woodland on Saturday, one thing turned amiss because the defending champion tried to get a gauge on the problem at hand.
“We misplaced a ball for about 5 minutes and it was proper in entrance of me,” the defending champion mentioned. “We didn’t discover it till we stepped on it.
“There was discuss of not having marshals the primary couple apply rounds. The apply rounds would have been 10 hours out right here looking for golf balls.”
Welcome to the U.S. Open at Winged Foot, the place, to correctly set the stage for the 120th taking part in of the nationwide championship, one should deal with the stage — the West Course in Mamaroneck, New York, some 25 miles from the guts of Manhattan.
The particulars? Designed by A.W. Tillinghast and restored by Gil Hanse, the course suggestions out at 7,477 yards and performs to a par of 70, with one par-Three at 243 yards, two par-4s longer than 500 yards, and one par-5 breaking the 630-yard barrier.
The historical past? In 5 earlier editions of the U.S. Open on the West Course, solely two of the greater than 700 gamers completed 72 holes beneath par (take a bow, 1984 champion Fuzzy Zoeller and runner-up Greg Norman). The final winner, Geoff Ogilvy in 2006, received at 5 over. Within the 1974 U.S. Open, dubbed the Bloodbath at Winged Foot, Hale Irwin received at 7 over.
The observations?
“The golf course is huge,” Woodland mentioned. “It’s onerous. However I feel that’s what you count on if you come to a significant championship and particularly a U.S. Open.”
“It is dependent upon how troublesome (the U.S. Golf Affiliation) wish to arrange these pins, give us an opportunity at it,” three-time U.S. Open champion Tiger Woods mentioned. “However with the forecast, it’s going to be troublesome it doesn’t matter what. This golf course goes to be one of many harder ones.”
“It’s kind of like in boxing the place Mike Tyson mentioned all people has a plan till they get punched within the face. It’s the identical factor right here,” world No. 2 Jon Rahm mentioned. “All of us have a plan, however if you happen to hit it sideways, you bought to determine it out.”
In different phrases, looks like some good quaint U.S. Open carnage is available for the 144 gamers within the discipline beginning with Thursday’s first spherical. An 18-hole migraine headache, if you’ll. What else is to be anticipated contemplating the dense tough – six inches and even increased in some locations – that may go away egos, wrists and scorecards bruised? The skeleton fairways? The huge, sloping greens which can be conscious of the smaller, wickedly troublesome placing surfaces at Augusta Nationwide?
With the event postponed three months as a result of COVID-19, the West Course was a tad on the smooth aspect on the eve of the championship. However to a person, everybody expects the structure to agency up, particularly the placing surfaces, and grow to be a daytime nightmare.
“This place exams each single side of your sport, so I don’t suppose I may single out the hardest factor that you’ll want to do or the toughest factor you’re going to have to do that week,” four-time main winner Rory McIlroy mentioned. “It’s all fairly powerful.”
However honest, the gamers say, with even-par 270 a prophesied profitable rating to chase. McIlroy, for example, doesn’t count on the course to descend into “goofy” golf. There aren’t any methods to the observe; the confrontation is correct in entrance of you (even when it seems like a darkish alley).
U.S. Open: Tee occasions, TV information | Picture gallery
“You’ve simply received to step up and hit good photographs,” Woodland mentioned. “I don’t suppose the USGA goes to get too loopy. The golf course is difficult sufficient.”
To the purpose {that a} recurring chorus shall be known as upon by the gamers this week – take your drugs, whether or not you’re within the tough off the green or close to a inexperienced; deep in one of many yawning bunkers; or going through a 50-footer with 10-feet of break. Pars are your pal. So, too, are some bogeys.
“It simply involves psychological power, proper, who can endure essentially the most and who can endure till the tip,” Rahm mentioned. “It’s that easy.”
“The place’s the best subsequent putt from and the place is the best subsequent shot from?” McIlroy mentioned. “There’s plenty of considering forward on this golf course.”
“You’ve received to drive it straight, particularly at this golf course,” mentioned world No. 1 and 2016 U.S. Open champion Dustin Johnson. “You must hit fairways. However when you hit fairways, it doesn’t get a lot simpler from there.”
Story continues
In all, doesn’t sound like an entire lot of enjoyable. Properly, it doesn’t sound like an entire lot of enjoyable everybody besides world No. Three Justin Thomas.
“I completely love,” the course, Thomas mentioned. “It’s in all probability considered one of my favorites I’ve ever performed, to be sincere. It’s onerous, so it’s a special form of enjoyable, however it’s enjoyable.
“It’s not a 20-, 25-under form of enjoyable. It’s a U.S. Open. You realize it’s going to be powerful, and you recognize par is a very, actually good rating.
“I’m not going into this week afraid of Winged Foot. It’s in all probability the toughest golf course I’ve ever performed. However that being mentioned, I’m not going into it scared. It’s going to be such a grind. You simply need to embrace it, in any other case it’s going to eat you alive. You’re going to be put in some uncomfortable locations, and also you as an individual are going to really feel uncomfortable. It’s actually simply how will you handle that.”

The main restrooms in the clubhouse will be closed during this time.  We have added two bathrooms next to the golf shop should you need them.  They are single user bathrooms.
Beverages and snacks will be limited to the golf shop and carry out only.  We will not have coolers available at this time so any six pack purchase will go in a plastic bag.
The on course bathrooms will remain closed at this time.
Do not remove the flag stick for any reason.  We have equipped each hole with a pool noodle that will raise the level of the hole and limit players reaching in to retrieve their golf ball.
The golf shop will have a limit of no more than 10 people at one time.  We ask anyone in the shop to be mindful of the 6 foot social distance radius.  If this becomes an issue, we will be forced to close the golf shop.
Merchandise sales will be limited to golf balls and tees.  This is an effort to limit touch points and possible contamination points.
Treat all bunkers as Ground Repair in the absence of rakes.  Put the ball as near as possible to the point where the ball lay in the bunker.
We want everyone out there to stay safe, stay healthy but at the same time enjoy this great game of golf.  With any luck and due diligence, this will be a temporary thing and we can go back to normal in the near future.

Ryder Cup 2021
By ED TRAVIS
It was no surprise last week when the PGA of America, owners of the Ryder Cup, and the two tours whose players make up the competing teams pushed back the matches originally scheduled for September at Whistling Straights (Kohler, Wisc.) until 2021.
The importance of protecting the tens of thousands of fans, volunteers, players, caddies and yes, media, traveling to the shores of Lake Michigan was a given.
The only surprise is it took this long to make the announcement since it has been obvious the COVID-19 virus was not going away. The health concerns had already caused the PGA Championship which the PGA of America also runs to be moved from May to August.
The one-year Ryder Cup delay may do some real harm though to the European Tour. Keith Pelley, the Tour’s chief executive, has acknowledged their shaky financial situation and it is well known when the Ryder Cup is held in Europe the millions in revenue support the Tour’s entire operation. Having to wait another year for the every-four-year payday could create a crisis.
This in turn has raised the question of a bailout from the PGA Tour, certainly an interesting possibility.
Turning to less weighty matters, the Ryder Cup’s inventory of all that 2020 logoed merchandise is being discounted 20%. They must be figuring the flags, pins, caps, shirts, belts, jackets, and sweaters will be collectibles and are looking to retrieve as much as they can. And after all there is still merchandise from the 2018 matches in stock.
Moving the dates of the Ryder Cup to September 21-26, 2021 overall has to be seen as a positive move and the announcement of the change included, “Tickets purchased for the 2020 Ryder Cup via rydercup.com will be automatically valid for the corresponding day(s) in 2021,” means at least the fans are covered.
Team USA will be on a mission to regain the Cup after the lopsided 17½ to 10½ loss to Team Europe in 2018 at Le Golf National outside Paris by relinquishing a 3 to 1 lead following the first morning’s four ball matches. This was not totally unexpected despite the power-packed roster the U.S. took to France because Europe has been dominant at home with the last U.S. win “across the pond” coming back in 1993.
The Ryder Cup is the largest, most exciting, and most closely watched international golf event and the move to odd from even years gains an additional advantage as it removes any scheduling overload for top players in Olympic years. With golf being again an Olympic sport there was a bothersome bunching of events with the Olympics followed closely by the Tour Championship and then the Ryder Cup.
