Zhongli huffed with a smile as he walked to the door, picking up a one mora on the way. Opening the door he was met with your silly little smiling face.

“Hello little one. Here you are. Have fun doing whatever it is you do with this mora hehe.” Zhongli smiled at you as you put the mora in the rather large pack on your back.

“Wait wait wait!! I’ve got a little donation too!” Hu Tao cried. She waved a single mora in the air as she ran to the door.

“Here ya go little guy!~ Have fun with it!~” She waved you off as she stood behind Zhongli, watching you run off to… well where ever you ran off too.

Unlike other weasel theives, you never took more than one mora a day from you “targets”. Rushing all throughout Liyue, you had everyone wrapped around your tiny little paw.

From Hu Tao and Zhongli to even the Adepti. All have you one mora. That was twelve mora a day in itself. But then you had everyone else (non vision users), so that came toooooo… five hundred and one mora!.. What? Mountain Shaper liked to give you two mora :).

Now I bet you’re wondering: “What do you do with all this mora? As a weasel, you didn’t really have a real need for mora… right?

WRONG!

You ran your ass to the edge of Liyue, all the way to a houseboat no one cared to notice.

Wondering in, you were met with the sight of the old man who had saved you from becoming just another weasel thief.

He refused to give his name, fearing everyday might be his last. That’s what he first said when he met you, and that’s why he saved you. To preform one more good deed.

That was two years ago.

He had been getting stronger everyday and you couldn’t be more proud.

You would gather the mora for him so he would feel the need to get up and use it. To survive. And you were right there beside him.

You hopped up on his lap, murring and calling at him. He rubbed up and down your back, gently removing the pack from your back.

“Hello there my dear. How was today’s heist?”

Gods you loved him and would do anything for him.

Wolflord had to go mini and pop up from a portal to fit lol, and the hydra was sentenced to a bucket. I’m so creative :) melusine was hardest to draw because of ELBOWS wait I take that back, the weasel was hardest-I could never get it right

hello! i checked your FAQ/tag list, but this is a very specific species, so I couldn't find any: do you happen to know of any yellow pine marten/japanese pine marten plushies? thanks so much in advance :)

Hansa makes a “8030 Japanese Sable” which is the closest I’ve found so far! There is also a plushie creator named @avanii who has done commission for japanese pine martens in the past, but their commissions are currently closed! your best bet might be to google for japanese or golden weasels to get a look-alike or to commission a creator. Dæmons are not really "this character is sarcastic and lithe and finnicky so they'd be symbolized with a cat". Dæmons are largely determined by their role and symbolism in *art*, and what art it's drawn from depends on where in the story Lyra is. It also depends on their role in the story as a character somebody invented for a purpose. They say that dæmons are your soul that reveals your inner nature, but that's in-universe conjecture. It's important to remember that characters are tools in a story, and dæmons are signifiers of that role, much in the same way that medieval paintings depicted animal companions alongside humans, to evoke a cultural, spiritual and historical context. For example, in the medieval Oxford, the dæmons all take the form of animals that would have been known to medieval scholars, and their implications carry their symbolic meanings of the time. Jordan college is full of ravens, moths ermines, cats, hawks, setters, and serpents-- and also there are a few creatures, such as basilisks and small dragons-- that would have been imaginary to us but very real to medieval scholars. The only dæmon not of European origin is Lord Asriel's dæmon Stelmaria, who is in the form of a snow leopard,  evoking Asriel's infatuation with the North and giving us a subtle clue about the fact that he fits poorly in Jordan society. It's not until Lyra meets Mrs. Coulter and goes to London that the variety of dæmons expands, and when it does it expands into the art of the rennaissance and Flemish art. Pugs, parrots, monkeys, and butterflies are found in London. When Lyra travels north, she meets people with wolf and snow goose and snowshoe hare dæmons.

Ermines represent young girls born into nobility and their spiritual purity, so Lyra, who is innocent and nobleborn, often has Pantalaimon in the shape of an ermine. The fact that weasels are considered sneaky liars (as Lyra is) comes secondary to me, in my personal opinion. The servants in The Golden Compass are described as all having dog dæmons, because Lyra's world operates on a strict hierarchy of class, and the Butler and Chamberlain are all servants of a story, not really fully-fleshed characters in their own right. Conversely the characters like Asriel and Coulter have very "noble" animals associated with high class and exoticism: the aforementioned snow leopard and golden monkey. Dæmons are also amoral-- they don't indicate heroism or villainy. If Pullman made every bad guy's dæmon an animal that we have negative association with, loaded them with snakes and bugs, then everyone in the world could immediate clock who a "bad person" is just by the shape of their dæmon, and life just does not work like that.

If you want to choose a dæmon for a character, you have to take into account the genre you're working in. Poetry (The creator of the Dæmorphing series) utilizes a more scientific approach, matching characters' dæmons to observed animal behavior and biology. This works very well for Animorphs fanfiction, which has a huge emphasis on zoology and the natural talents and traits of animals... and very little to do with art and history and fantasy. But if your work is more on the historical or fantasy side, I'd suggest looking into the symbolic meanings of animals in specific cultures and periods of time to inform your choices. This historical and cultural context is why I'd find it ludicrously difficult to make dæmons for, say, the Star Wars cast, because all the animals in that universe are Imaginary, and even the ones based on real-life animals lack the social+historical+cultural context of dæmons. So I could give them earth animals, but is that immersion breaking? Probably. Same goes for Pokémon.

This level of involvement and research and intertext is usually too complicated for your average ao3 chud though, so you open a fic and you're more than likely to see dæmons pulled from a pool of the same 15 or so animals. So many wolves.... so many big cats........

If it's a series and character i'm familiar with, i'm more than willing to offer suggestions for potential forms! I literally possess several bestiaries and books on animal symbolism.

Before Dr.Eggman and his daughter when she seems so possible to him, Dr. Starline meets a babysitter with Mia toddler until she gets to know often. She admired him, so she will help him. Dr. Starline and Mia were close friends.

Dr. Eggman:

Mia and Eggman were close friends when she was baby and she first met. Because Eggman supports her adoption, he is her adoptive father. Eggman is always concerned about his family. Eggman will accompany her. Mia has a flashback to when she was a baby and expected to grow up. Eggman must be strict and discipline her. She will trust and respect him.

Reala:

When he met during the night, he teach to train magic or discipline her though young kid. She will know the connection to Reala has been given a golden mask like reference to its different mask original. She has been in contact with her friend, Reala.

Rough the Skunk:

Mia and Rough were good friends when she first met because she tried to help and someone captured Sonic. She seems to be very attractive and childish, but also know his oldest brother, Tumble.

Orbot :

Mia and Orbot were close friends when she first met because he always cared for her but replaced her. She feels treated by her little brother. Mia is always caring and helping him. Mia should take responsibility for only Orbot because he is too young and because he is the smarter, more serious, and firmer of the two, while Cubot is just as prone to bumbling around as he is. Orbot speaks calmly, formally, and without a filter. He is honest to a fault and offers unsolicited, withering assessments of his master. She will trust and respect him.

Cubot :

Mia and Cubot were close friends when they first met because he always cared for her but replaced her. She was also treated by her little brother. Mia used to make fun of him because he was both funny and clumsy. Mia is always caring and helping him. Mia feels responsible for only Cubot because he is too young, very dimwitted, slow on the uptake, having trouble solving a puzzle meant for babies, and getting even the simplest of instructions wrong. She will respect him.

Belle the Tinkerer:

Mia and Belle were good friends, but she first met her when she was just asking her about that after she gets shocked that her father mentioned, but she feels treated by her sister, but she awkwardly once met her.

Sage:

She met Mia and Sage after being surprised; they are close friends since she is always cheering and talking about girls. She feels treated by her little sister. She is a very nice, sweet, and cheerful person, and she is always a pleasure to be around. Due to Sage's age and ability to use cyberspace, Mia has trouble teaching her cyberspace because she is too young.

Mia’s parents :

When her first baby was born, the parents lost Mia's baby. Mia’s parents are alive and live in the same village. Mia frequently visits her royal and wealthy parents at their castle. Mia knows how to respect her parents. Mia had thirteen siblings because they were warriors and brave.

Mia:

When Mia was born an inner snake and half witch because her mother was a witch during, her parents were royal and warrior after the parents left on her daughter, but Dr. Eggman was shocked and left abandoned when she was raised orphaned. She considered her adoptive father literally and just supported and served her father. She is just caring for the youngest siblings, so sometimes problems are solved that way. She was a young kid who dreamed of meeting Reala, he is very curious after teaching for technical references jester. She had been successful in capturing Sonic, but she had failed to respect him.

Lives:

Mia is still running on his father's empire, but she has her own room, so she likes the celestial room.

Mia often visits another village, but she has her own room in the castle.

As you sat wrapped around The Old Man’s neck, you watched as the scenery of Liyue passed you both by.

No one stared, looked, or even glanced at him, you guess it was noticeably pissing you off, because he began to gently scratch under your chin. You leaned into the gentle touch, making him chuckle.

The hand he wasn’t using to pet you was gripped around a cane, a basket hanging off his arm as well. Compared to rest of Liyue, he was dressed in extremely traditional clothing, his hair was tied into a traditional top knot with a beautiful guan. He also had a nice little beard. With his looks, you honestly wondered how old the man was, because on top of his… well his beauty, his home - despite it being a house boat - was also decked out in traditional furnishings and decor.

The only accessory you had was an earring made of mora with a dragon modeled after Morax attached to the bottom - it was a hanging earring. When you found out your old man had spent ONE HUNDRED MORA ON IT, you scolded him for an hour. Him kneeling as you stood on your hind legs loudly chittering at him.

The only reasons you wore it was because:

A. He bought it as a thank you for staying by his side, even in old age.

And

B. The damn thing cost a hundred mora why the fuck wouldn’t you

And finally

C. It helped differentiate you from other weasel thieves.

As you continued down the lanes, his little basket began to fill up, though its weight never seemed to bother him. You’d often chirp at him to see if you could carry it - you were strong for a weasel - but he’d just shake off your concerns with another chuckle.

And as you continued, you began to feel sleep with the gently sway of his body slowly walking along the paths, and probably would’ve too, if it weren’t for the fact that he stopped to speak with someone. Wait no that’s red and black bird.

“Mountain Shaper, my friend. Why do you walk among the mortals this fine day? To what do we owe the pleasure?” Did you mention The Old Man spoke super fucking eloquently? Because he does.

“Nothing but a stroll. And why are you here, old friend?” Wait Old Man knew an Adeptus? Old friend? What the hell-

“Ah, simply retrieving some items from the merchants. Nothing more. And as much as I’d adore to stay and chat, I must be off, so as to make me and my little friend here’s daily afternoon tea time, hehe!” You noticed that the Adeptus’s eyes were now on you, but only with a hint of curiosity.

“I see… well don’t let me take up more of your time.” The bird mused.

“Well actually… I believe we may have space for one more, if you’d care to join.” You looked around to see if anyone else was seeing this shit, but it seemed like no one else was around.

“Well if you’d allow me…” And with that, you were now walking with an Adeptus towards The Old Man’s houseboat. Feeling a bit bold, you stuck a paw out in the direction of the bird. All he did was glance at you, before chuckling. You smacked your lips before settling down on Old Man’s neck.

Your mind drifted as you thought of what tea he would make today… maybe Mountain Shaper would have something new in mind… perhaps a story awaited you as well… you yawned and closed your eyes, pressing your face into into the crook of your neck.

“You feel it as well, don’t you my friend.” Mountain Shaper asked.

“I do.” The Old Man responded.

“Will you ever tell them-“

“Only when the time is right.” The Old Man interrupted. “Now, they just want to live, and I will allow them that freedom. I have no right to strip that from them.”

“You sound like the God of Freedom.” The bird chuckled, making the Man sigh.

“Be quiet before I tie your beak shut.”

“*GASP* You wouldn’t dare!”

Best of Original Cartoons: What A Cartoon!  Part 1 [1995-1997]

  “‘Take Back Our Cartoons’ How What a Cartoon! tapped animation’s past to push the form into a new ’90s golden age.“  

It didn’t occur to me that my casual reading habits could have a giant impact on my “career” (such as it has been), but reading Leonard Maltin’s and Jerry Beck’s survey of classic cartoons jumped started my thinking that served me better than well when I stumbled in the cartoon business in the early 90s.

John Maher is the co-founder (with Eric Vilas-Boas) of the late, lamented The Dot + Line, the smart look at cartoons. Lucky me, he’s taken a deep dive into my very first foray into original cartoons, the shorts incubator “What A Cartoon!” for Hanna-Barbera and Cartoon Network. Great interviews with Genndy Tartakovsky (Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Hotel Transylvania), David Feiss (Cow and Chicken, I Am Weasel) Craig McCraken (The Powerpuff Girls, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Wonder Over Yonder), Van Partible (Johnny Bravo) , moi.

“That a program rooted in the history of the art form was so instrumental in pushing it forward only shows how important it was for studios to take chances on creators — to let them, as Partible puts it, ‘take back our cartoons.’ And that’s exactly what they did.

This article is the nicest yet written yet about the start of my half dozen “shorts shows” done over the past several years, and lays out beautifully what I hoped to accomplish with a program that launched those stellar talents, not to mention Seth MacFarlane (Larry & Steve, Family Guy), Pat Ventura (Yucky Duck, Jamal the Funny Frog) and John R. Dilworth (Courage the Cowardly Dog).

Of course, John could only touch on the high points and the visible folks, the creators (Vulture isn’t a geek pub, it’s for a mainstream reader). So let me just mention a few of the people who really made a difference to the show and made it sing.

Buzz Potamkin ran production for me at Hannna-Barbera. His background was animated commercials and then was founder of Southern Star’s LA division where he produced The Bernenstain Bears and Teen Wolf. As the founder of Perpetual Motion Pictures and Buzzco in New York he had produced the famous “Moonman” animation for Alan Goodman and me at MTV. I had bent his ear for years about the cartoon business –long before I’d ever imagined actually being in it�� and he became the first champion and Executive Producer of What A Cartoon! in the studio. Not for nothing, he convinced Ralph Bakshi and a number of other out-of-LA filmmakers to become part of the program.

Larry Huber (Supervising Producer) was at the studio producing 2 Stupid Dogs, the home of a lot of future WAC! creators. He also was the only veteran (he had pretty much every creative and production job in the business since he graduated from CalArts in the 60s) who didn’t think I was nuts and enthusiastically volunteered to help work with all the young blood I brought to the company. Larry has worked on almost every one of the 250 shorts I’ve produced over the past decades.

Scott Sassa was my boss at Turner, the guy who took the long shot of convincing me to come into the cartoon business. “What do you have to lose? They haven’t had a hit since The Smurfs [in 1981], so if you do anything good everyone will think you’re a genius!” I’m not all that sure he loved WAC! at first, but he trusted me.

Jed Simmons was my shotgun-wedding husband at Hanna-Barbera, and over time we evolved into an organic partnership. He’d been a business development executive at Turner Broadcasting, and Scott Sassa assigned him to me as studio COO to award him an operating position and to make sure I didn’t screw up the whole thing too badly. He wasn’t exactly sure of what I was up to either, but he became my biggest defender and protector. Jed and I went on to be co-founders of Next New Networks more than 10 years later. 

Of course! The creators’ work speaks for itself, as you’ll see in the compilation below. You’ll recognize the shorts that begat series, but there are a lot of other gems that didn’t spin off that are worth your attention too.

Content Creator Interview #5

Welcome back again folks! This week in our fifth interview @vermofftiss chats to @mizjoely about her love of lists, her fantasy season five finale, and reveals the truth about who really writes her stories...

Hi, @mizjoely here, chatting with @vermofftiss about my sherlolly writing and fandom experiences, and answering some questions submitted by a few other folks. I’ve been involved in fandom in one way or another since the early 1980s, which is also when I started writing fanfiction - for classic Doctor Who and Star Trek in its various incarnations.

@vermofftiss here, putting forward the aforementioned questions. I’ll also be trying to weasel some advice out of @mizjoely that I can use for my own writing, which has been a casual ongoing thing since I published my first sherlolly fic in 2014.

Vermofftiss: I think our first encounter was in the Sherlollychat in the fall of 2014, around the time I got onto AO3. Which means series 3 was five years ago. How does it feel knowing that series 4 was already two years ago? What’s changed in the time since it aired?

Mizjoely: Oh, I miss the sherlollychat, or at least I did until Channy came up with the discord version! It’s hard to fathom that so much time has passed since I joined the fandom! (I became active on tumblr in November 2013 after discovering Sherlolly earlier that same year, btw.) Series 3 was five years ago. Series 4 was two years ago. Crazy!

As for what’s changed since then, I’d have to say one positive thing is that the fandom wank has calmed way the hell down since S4…. Another change that I’ve seen is probably common to all fandoms over time - new writers and content creators have joined the fandom while (sadly) many others have moved on to other fandoms. Of course, that’s to be expected when your show is essentially over, but it’s still kind of sad to lose folks completely to other fandoms.

V: Which series was your favourite to play with as a writer? When did you really get into writing Sherlolly?

M: I would have to say Series 4 has definitely been a great series to write for - so much angst! The I love you! Mary Watson’s very sad death, Rosie Watson becoming a character, Mrs. Hudson showing us what a badass she is, and of course Eurus Holmes entering the picture. We might not have gotten as much Molly Hooper as we wanted, but the scenes we did get with her were tremendous and gave so much inspiration to me and many other writers.

I really got into Sherlolly as a ship after seeing TRF, as I’m sure is true with many folks - especially the “what do you need” scene. And it was so much fun to dive into the possibilities of life after Sherlock’s ‘death’ between Series 2 and 3, I consider that a real golden age of Sherlolly writing. My first published Sherlock/Sherlolly fic was “Conversations With A Dead Detective”, set Post Reichenbach, which according to fanfiction.net I published on 04/11/13 (so I’m nearly at my five year Sherlolly- versary, woo hoo!).

A quick look at my spreadsheet (don’t judge me, I love my lists) shows that I wrote or at least started 37 fics that year (one of which I’m still working on, yikes! - The World As We Know It, a vamp!lock fic). I’m currently sitting at almost 500 fics for Sherlolly, which still amazes me, that I could be that inspired by a pair of fictional characters! (For comparison, my second most prolific fandom is Doctor Who, for whom I wrote a total of 25 stories over a period of 20 years. And of those 25, only about a dozen were for my main ship, Five/Tegan).

V: A couple of questions from @ohaine - 

1) Based on the sheer volume of your work, I have this theory that you’re actually some sort of artistic collective rather than just one person, please tell me I’m right!

M: You have discovered my secret: I'm actually four raccoons in a trenchcoat! Seriously though, until I was bitten by the Sherlolly bug, my output was much, much lower, even though I've been writing fanfics since the early 1980s. For example, I love the Zutara ship for Avatar: Last Airbender, but I only wrote three fics for that. I wrote about 25 fics for Doctor Who, and about the same amount for the various Star Treks (not including Khanolly). Nothing set my writing muse afire like Sherlolly, and I doubt anything ever will again.

and, 2) You write a lot of AUs, and I’m wondering what inspires them?

M: Considering that I started off as a strictly Canon Universe/Canon Compliant writer in all of my other fandoms, it still seems funny to me how much I enjoy writing and reading AUs now. I started reading them after finally running out of canon compliant fics to read and discovering how much fun it was to transplant the characters into a different universe. And that, of course, made me think about what sort of AUs I could fit Molly and Sherlock into.

In fact, the very first BBC Sherlock story I started to write (never finished or posted) was an AU because I was nervous about trying to write Sherlock and figured no one would complain too much about him being OOC if it was a fantasy setting. (I ended up taking the plunge on a canon universe post Reichenbach fic and posted that and a lot of other canon universe fics before returning to AUs.)

Wait, that doesn't answer the question! What inspires them? The same things that inspire all my writing: wanting to read a specific kind of fic and not being able to find it; fics that other authors have written that make me itch to put my own spin on the idea; dreams; books I've read or movies or TV shows I've watched...inspiration is everywhere when you really, really, really love a ship. (Gawd that's cheesy but it's true - no love, no writing fanfic, period end of paragraph.)

V: This past spring I finally got the nerve to start working on my first proper AU (not CC, CU, or UA) after sitting on the idea for about 3 years. Have you ever had to wait to be “ready” to start working on a concept? How much do you need to know about a project to get going on it?

M: I have absolutely had to wait to be ready to start working on a concept. My very first attempt at a Sherlolly fic (never finished or published) was going to be an AU because I was so intimidated by the idea of writing Sherlock Holmes in the canon universe set up by Moffat & Gatiss. I was terrified I wouldn’t get his voice right, that he would be too OOC for folks, that I wouldn’t be able to make him clever enough or that I’d mess things up a dozen different ways. So I started writing the AU instead, and in doing so (over a course of several months), I finally realized that no, I wanted to start off in the canon universe. Just trying to write him at all, in any setting, made me a little less intimidated by him. But I might never have written anything if I hadn’t started that abandoned AU. (And I look forward to seeing your AU when you’re ready to post it!)

V: Does reader feedback ever impact the plots of your stories or the building of your AUs?

M: It absolutely can, especially when someone leaves a comment that makes me think about my story in a different light. I won’t go so far as to say comments have caused me to redo anything on a larger scale (such as change the ending) but certainly I’ve thrown things into the fic or expanded on ideas expressed in a comment to make the story that much richer.

That’s one of the best things about being active in fandom - the interactions between readers and writers. Of course, the reverse can also be true - I remember needing a LOT of fan-friend coddling when some folks were unhappy with the ending of my story ‘Abandoned’ (i.e., my Molly let my Sherlock get off too easily). But you have to have thick skin to be a creator, and remember that not everyone likes the same things. And you also have to be able to say yes, I could have done this better, or if I had to do it over I’d do it differently. It’s all part of the creative process.

V: Are there any scenes or aspects that were cut from a story that you regretted leaving out at the end?

M: Not really. Most things that I cut have been vetted by my betas (shout-out to ALL betas for being willing to help you make your story better!) and jettisoning those things has always made my stories better. (Plus I keep a folder of scraps that got cut and periodically review those scraps to see if I might be able to salvage them.)

V: On top of being one of the better-known Sherlolly writers in the tag, you’re also the single person behind the Sherlollbrary. As much as I love to organize my life and everything else I can get my hands on, that’s not something I think I’d ever actually want to do. So what made you decide to start cataloguing Sherlolly fics?

M: My love of lists. Seriously, that’s it. I love making lists of things - like, how many stories did I write in 2013 for Sherlolly (37, as you now know!), how many one-shots have I written vs. multi-chapters, how many were prompts...and then I started seeing people doing lists of various tropes. The one that made me decided to start my Sherlollilists side blog was one put together for Sherlolly omegaverse stories. As more and more lists were created, edited, and added (I’m currently at 140 official lists, with more than a dozen unofficial lists), I decided it would nice to organize them all (not realizing quite what I was getting into!) as one spreadsheet, with other tropes and tags and keywords for folks to help narrow down their searches. It always give me a little thrill when I open the library and see folks are browsing, so I like to think it’s a useful tool (although I am looking forward to finishing it someday!)

@writingwife-83 asked: You work tirelessly to organize all the multitude of writing this ship produces, but how do you feel that affects you as a writer? Does it make you less interested in writing your own fics? Or does it tend to help get the wheels turning and inspire you?

M: I have to admit, sometimes curating the lists can completely put me off writing, simply due to feeling oversaturated. This is especially true when I am reading or skimming over fics that are, shall we say, not the best of the bunch. Or the times when I'm just pushing myself even if I'm not really enthusiastic about doing it. Those times, I've learned to just step back, which is why sometimes the lists don't get updated very quickly.

On the other hand, rereading a favorite or a forgotten gem can really get my creative juices flowing. At times like that, I fall back in love with the ship and the fandom all over again.

V: When you’re stuck with writer’s block or just a lack of motivation, does it help you more to reread an old fave or to go back through some of your own works? Have you noticed your style has changed much?

M: It does help, absolutely. It reminds me why I love this ship so much, and helps me reconnect with others in the fandom. People think of reading as passive and writing as solitary, but to me it’s an interactive process. Reading great fics, new can old, helps feed your creativity. And nowadays the internet helps so much as well - there are awesome resources and fandom spaces to talk to other folks about their works and your own, reminding you that you’re not creating in a vacuum. (And I REALLY love the cheerleading section of the Sherlolly Discord site. That can help unstick my creativity like nobody’s business!)

As for my style changing - yeah, it definitely has. I feel like my writing has become more streamlined and less clunky since I first started. I still do a lot of semicolon abuse but at this point I’ve decided that’s just my style and will likely never change.

V: I’m sure we can do a lot more rambling if left on the trail. How about one last one: In the currently hypothetical series 5, how would you continue the story from where it left off?

M: Oooh, good one! If I was in charge we would see that Sherlock and Molly are continuing their relationship, culminating with a wedding at the end of the third episode. But since I’m not in charge, I’m thinking that Mofftiss would give us some subtle hints, like John casually mentioning to Sherlock that he and Rosie can’t join ‘them’ for dinner that night for whatever reason. And maybe some small changes to 221B to show hints that someone else spends time there other than Sherlock and the Watsons - a cherry patterned pillow, perhaps? A Bart’s ID card with a woman’s picture to show that no, it isn’t one Sherlock nicked to get access to a place he otherwise couldn’t get to? A woman’s coat hanging next to Sherlock’s? Something like that. And some private smiles between Sherlock and Molly, little things like that. Enough to give us hope but not enough to give us proof! They do like to tease that way!

Non-shipwise, I think Eurus would make a return because come on, how do you leave a character like that catatonic? I also think they would return to ACD canon to revise a few more cases for the modern age, and maybe (maybe!) have John start dating again (especially if they’re so married to canon that they killed Mary off - since John seems to have been married at least twice, they would probably explore that option).

I know, that last part is a bit vague but honestly? I hope they surprise the hell out of us in a good way if we ever get that fifth series!

D&D Homebrew: Cleric Subclass: Hunt Domain

Each arrow fired at prey is a hymn, singing in the wind. Each footprint is a line of scripture, followed unquestioningly. Survival and worship go hand in hand for Clerics of the Hunt Domain. Instead of lofty steeples and stained-glass, Hunt Clerics have simple altars where parts of prey are offered. Hunt Domain clerics are often detached from society, living in their god's given hunting grounds alone with their Divine Companion. Others are providers for villages, sharing their game with the hungry.

Gods of the Hunt Domain share many spaces with Nature gods and most gods of one are gods of the other. But Hunt gods favor both cooperating with and eating of animals over controlling plants and the elements. Nature gods who favor the hunt often isolate themselves from pantheons a trait they pass to their devout.

Domain Spells

1st: Hunter’s Mark, Speak with Animals

3rd: Locate Animals and Plants, Pass Without Trace

6th: Conjure Animals, Flame Arrows

7th: Guardian of Faith, Guardian of Nature

9th: Conjure Volley, Holy Weapon

Bonus Proficiencies

When you choose this domain at 1st level, you gain proficiency with survival and longbows. The ultimate hunter's tool. 

The Hunter God's Companion

At 1st level, you are gifted a hunter from the upper planes.

By performing a 1-hour ritual using 50 gp worth of charcoal, incense, and herbs that must be consumed by fire. Your chosen god delivers unto you a divine touched animal to serve as your loyal companion in the hunt. This creature is similar to its material realm counterpart but with telltale signs of the divine: glowing eyes, holy symbols in fur patterns, golden claws, etc.

Select a companion from among the following animals: an ape, a black bear, a boar, a giant badger, a giant weasel, a mule, a panther, or a wolf. Or you may choose any Medium or smaller beast with a CR of 1/4 or lower. At the end of the ritual, your divine companion appears within 10 feet of you and gains all the benefits of your Divine Companion feature. You can have only one divine companion at a time.

Master of the Hunt

When you summon your divine companion, you also gain the following features. 

As an action, you can see through your companion's eyes and hear what it hears until you lose concentration as though concentrating on a spell, gaining the benefits of any special senses that the companion has. During this time, you are deaf and blind regarding your own senses.

You can perform the above ritual at any time while your companion is within 10 feet of you, when you do, you may change the form of your divine companion. Choose one of the forms above and your companion transforms into the chosen creature. 

When you cast a spell with a range of touch and a casting time of 1 action, your divine companion can deliver the spell as if it had cast the spell. It must be within 100 feet of you, and it must use its reaction to deliver the spell when you cast it. If the spell requires an attack roll, you use your attack modifier for the roll.

While your divine companion is within 100 feet of you, you and it can communicate telepathically (no action required). 

Divine Companion

Your gifted companion gains the following benefits as a semi divine being.

Your divine companion is also a Celestial in addition to being a Beast. If it has an Intelligence of 5 or less, its Intelligence becomes 6, and it gains the ability to understand one language of your choice that you speak and Celestial.

It loses its Multiattack action, if it has one.

It acts independently of you, but it always obeys your commands. In combat, it rolls its own initiative and acts on its own turn, but you determine its actions, decisions, attitudes, and so on. If you are incapacitated it defends you. If you are absent, your companion acts on its own.

When it drops to 0 hit points, it disappears, returning to its home in the upper planes, leaving behind no physical form. It reappears if you perform the ritual you used to first summon it.

Your companion uses your proficiency bonus rather than its own. In addition to the areas where it normally uses its proficiency bonus, your companion also adds its proficiency bonus to its AC.

Your companion has advantage on all saving throws against spells and magical effects.

Your companion is immune to being charmed or frightened.

Your Divine Companion’s maximum hit points and hit dice become equal to yours.

Whenever you gain the Ability Score Improvement class feature, your companion's abilities also improve. Your companion can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or it can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, your companion can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature unless its description specifies otherwise. Keep track of the number of ability score increases it has and reapply them whenever you change your companion's form.

Your companion shares your alignment.

Channel Divinity: Bestial Intervention

When you reach 2nd level, your divine companion becomes a staunch defender as well as a deadly hunter. 

When you or an ally within 30 feet of you is hit with an attack, you can use your reaction to cause your Divine Companion to teleport to an empty space within 5ft of the attacked creature, it then takes that attack instead. You can only use this feature if the ally and your Divine Companion are on the same plane of existence.

Pack Alpha

At 6th level, your divine companion becomes the vanguard of your hunting party. Your divine companion and each friendly creature within 10 feet of it, gain a bonus to saving throws equal to your proficiency bonus.

Additionally, your divine companion gets a bonus of +5 to its initiative rolls, can't be surprised, and its melee weapon attacks count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistances and immunities.

Divine Beast Strike

At 8th level, you gain the ability to infuse your companion's melee attacks with divine energy. Once on each of its turns when it hits a creature with a melee attack, you can cause the attack to deal an extra 1d8 radiant damage to the target. When you reach 14th level, the extra damage increases to 2d8

Channel Divinity: Unleash the Beast

At 17th level, you can flood your divine companion with power as an action. 

For the next 1 minute, your divine companion becomes huge, gains 2 temporary hit points per your level in this class, and adds 2d4 to any ability check, saving throw, or melee attack it makes.
