Since we're in the rarepair train, consider: Sawyer and Lyon. They would be so annoying together. The "hugging and showing lots of pda partially because it makes everyone else roll their eyes (and mostly because they want to be sappy 24/7)", but also the wholesome "makes special plans for low profile dates where it feels like it's just the two of them in the world" type.
I mean, we even know that a) Sawyer is bold and forward with his flirting, as demonstrated with how he flirted with both Gray and Lyon in the Nirvana arc (which the anime made even worse. Is it gay to use your enemy's magic against them instead of your own dagger to almost kill them while both praising him and scolding him for being too brash? All while pretty much saying that you don't want to kill him, but you have to for the pride and safety of your guild? While also straddling said enemy's hips for no reason? No?) and b) Lyon is a down bad golden retriever when he's into someone as demonstrated when he had that brief crush on Juvia.
Just... Thought you might appreciate the ship.
Real talk nothing in Fairy Tail was gayer than when Gray and Lyon whipped their shirts off to double team Racer. I'd have had a gay awakening at that point, too.

Chapter 46: Tear
That was a very long gap between the last chapter. Unfortunately, there is no NaLu moments.
Story so far, from our last update wherein Natsu vs Yuuka and Toby. He managed to defeat both, fast actually. Natsu seems to be witty the first few chapters. Then Lucy managed to defeat Sherry by letting Aquarius flush both of them. One great thing tho, Lucy learned to use the force gate closure here. Yay! Erza arrived at the Galuna island, ties Lucy and Happy. Then Gray explains the situation, Erza understands (after getting heated w/ Gray) and helps her friends. Natsu faces Lyon, but is then interrupted by Gray who attempts the Iced Shell (1st try). Past forward, Gray manages to defeat Lyon and Deliora is dead already. I encourage you guys to read /watch. I think I'm just being talkative today hehe.
Going back to our goal!
Tumblr media
I was actually taken aback, I didn't know they have this panel.
Tumblr media
Lucy was asking Gray about the scar on his face (but why in that position?!! And what's with the wink???!)
Tumblr media
With Natsu fighting again with Gray, so ... Is it because of that? Hopefully yes haha.
Tumblr media
Look at two of them brawl (because of that???!! Lol I'm just trying to make this a jealous Natsu scene, which I doubt huhu)
Tumblr media
Since Erza hijacked a pirate ship, Lucy doesn't want to ride it wherein Natsu offers to swim. Aw I miss the two of them together already! This scene is cute tho with Natsu grin face.
Tumblr media
Don't worry Lucy, he believes in you 🩷💛
Context here, they did not get the money for the job but accepted the golden key which is Sagittarius.
Tumblr media
I just want to save this since it is too cute. I remember how Natsu's imagination salutes!
Tumblr media
And for my final entry, look how he puts his arm on her. I can't stop screaming!!!
I'm so excited about the Phantom Lord arc. Since this is kinda the start of the trust and bond between these two 😍
---
Hello! There may be a slight delay on my posts since I'm working 9-6 :( but hey I'll do my best, let's finish FT for the nth time!

Abraham-Louis Van Loo - The Assumption of the Virgin -
Louis-Abraham van Loo (Amsterdam 1653 - Nice 1712; known as Abraham van Loo until his conversion to Catholicism in 1681: also known as Louis or Ludovic van Loo) was a baroque mannerist painter and a member of the van Loo dynasty of painters. Louis-Abraham was the son of the Dutch Golden Age painter Jacob van Loo and father to the painters Jean-Baptiste van Loo and Charles-André van Loo (known as Carle van Loo.) The majority of Louis-Abraham’s paintings were of religious subject matter. Louis-Abraham received painting and fresco commissions from the church and from a number of enclosed religious orders in Lyon, Aix-en-Provence, Grasse, Majorca and Nice. He also received commissions to complete the fine decoration (including paintings for the officer’s quarters) of several ships of the Marine Royale (French Navy) at Toulon. He died in Nice in 1712.

I was reading your "Fallout 4 companions meet Arcade Gannon" reacts when I had an idea. FO4 companions reaction to visiting the Mojave Wasteland with the Sole Survivor.
"She was Boston, I was Vegas
She was Crêpes Suzette, I was pie
She was lectures, I was movies, but I loved her."
- Frank Sinatra, 1981, "I Loved Her"
Cait: "I've never been much of a gambler, but where there's gambling, there's usually a good time to be had."
While Cait finds the casinos of the Strip a little too ritzy for her liking, she rather enjoys the smaller, satellite venues: The Atomic Wrangler in Freeside, the Vikki and Vance casino in Primm, even the saloons in Goodsprings and the Mojave Outpost (the latter of which being where she foolishly engages in a drinking contest with Cass and happily gets her ass kicked). Her greatest enjoyment, however, comes upon discovery of the Thorn in Westside, with its arranged bouts between wasteland critters and the opportunity to go a round yourself if you're feeling lucky. Instead of the trapped horror she felt when the Combat Zone was taken over by raiders and she was forced to fight, Cait revels in the glory she reaps when choosing to face off against a fire gecko, a night stalker or a cazador with her trusty baseball bat. By the time the visit is over, she and Red Lucy have grown close, and the Thorn's mistress is going around openly calling Cait "my hunter."
Codsworth: "Ah, Las Vegas! Why, I can recall when you considered a quick getaway to this paradise just before young master Shaun's arrival. It appears we aren't too late, after all."
Codsworth is somewhat comforted by the lack of overt nuclear devastation in New Vegas, but that feeling wears off as soon as the first set of thugs in Freeside tries to corner him and the sole survivor and take their caps. Once the would-be muggers are laid out on the ground, Codsworth abandons his rose-colored glasses and puts his quippy, dismayed personality back on. Still, he loves the Strip, particularly the Ultra-Luxe with its refined guests, decor and hygienic practices, but he quickly sours on their hoity-toity attitudes. Instead, Codsworth turns to the presence of the NCR as a sign that civilization is creeping back into the wasteland. He's also tickled pink by the Kings and the Chairmen, but not the mobster-esque Omertas: They remind him too much of the pre-war mob activity in good old Boston.
Curie: "Excusez-moi, but what is that structure there? The tallest one, with the blinking lights."
Curie is thrilled to be out in the desert, observing the local populace and documenting their survival techniques, social structures and power struggles. She's fascinated with the area's history, and drags the sole survivor along to seek out the Mojave's most (in)famous individuals to record their stories for her research into post-war civilization. This lands her in quite a few questionable situations, but her general attitude of perseverance and wide-eyed wonder about the world open a lot of doors for her. She makes a lot of friends at the Old Mormon Fort among the Followers of the Apocalypse, though most of them assume her frustration about her own "biological reactions to extreme living conditions" is just her complaining about the heat like everyone else. Arcade's pretty sure she's a robot, though he's too polite to ask about it outright.
Danse: "We're close now, to the birthplace of the Brotherhood of Steel. This is an honor I never thought I'd experience."
Though it's boiling hot inside his power armor under the desert sun, Paladin Danse is overjoyed that he's accompanying the sole survivor on this journey into the cradle of the ideology that he's devoted to. He's heard about the Mojave from Brotherhood of Steel veterans, those who traveled with Elder Lyons when they initially came to the Capital Wasteland and those who accompanied Elder Maxson when he was just a Squire, and he keeps spouting off random trivia about the area. Any run-ins with disillusioned Scribe Veronica might leave him a bit put out, but it's overall a fun trip for him through a part of the continent that's a little less smashed to rubble than the rest of the world. He especially enjoys visiting the NCR and Brotherhood military outposts, if only to offer critiques and suggestions to any soldiers that give him the time of day.
Deacon: "Sheesh, visiting the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter, am I right?"
Deacon has been here before. Well, he doesn't actually say he's been here before, but he keeps dropping hints to the sole survivor that he's somehow on a return trip. He knows the legends of the Sierra Madre and the Blue Star treasures offhand, he has a whole conversation with the Securitrons guarding the Strip about what happened to Robert House, he even knows how to competently play Caravan. Every time the sole survivor asks him about how he knows so much, though, Deacon just grins and keeps chugging his Sunset Sarsaparilla. Obviously no one recognizes him by face, but he does have a setting-appropriate wardrobe along that includes NCR bandoleer armor, a coat-tailed tuxedo, top hat and White Glove Society mask, and a black leather jacket to go with his pompadour wig.
Dogmeat: [curiously sniffs everything]
Dogmeat can't figure out why this place is so dang dry, but he's on his best behavior for the sole survivor as they make their way over the dusty roads of the Mojave. He politely greets each other traveler on the roads, who keep asking his companion where they got "a non-cyber cyberdog." For the most part though, the trip is pretty in line with everywhere Dogmeat goes: Big rodents, big bugs, tired people and plenty of ruins to explore. Dogmeat's one outstanding adventure comes in the form of an attempted kidnapping by some of the Kings, who think their leader needs a new dog after Rex hit the road with some fool. The King doesn't take kindly to this, and graciously has the dog returned to his friend.
Hancock: "Oh, man, how does anyone live out here? I'm drying out, I feel like a radroach husk."
Hancock is having the time of his life in the Mojave, apart from constantly complaining about how he prefers the Commonwealth's weather. He's chummy with everyone, but especially with the ghouls he encounters. He buys Raul a bunch of drinks and asks him about his past, he suggests future career paths and hobbies for Calamity, and he is absolutely enchanted with Beatrix the dominatrix. He's also rowdy enough to attract the ire of nearly every casino in New Vegas: The White Glove Society seethes when the sole survivor points out that his Revolutionary War outfit technically meets the dress code, the Omertas howl when he starts encouraging the strippers and sex workers to band together and take over the casino, and the Vault 21 dwellers keep asking if he's liable to turn feral. The Chairmen, however, treat him as something of a novelty and gift him with a seersucker suit to go with his jaunty personality.
MacCready: "You know, I played cards with a guy from out here once. He tried to teach me a game called... what was it, Candyman? Kilogram?"
MacCready has the barest smattering of knowledge about the Mojave Wasteland, and he keeps injecting it into conversations no matter how inaccurate it is. He's fascinated with the sole survivor's recollections of what Vegas was like before the Great War, and his expectations are sky-high by the time they arrive on the city's outskirts. Those expectations are absolutely met once inside the Strip, even if the sole survivor's are let down. MacCready is just tickled by the existence of a city that is solely dedicated to parting you from your caps, and he settles into each new business for the express purpose of people-watching. He only tries gambling once, and immediately quits after he loses all of his pocket change.
Valentine: "Good old Las Vegas. Somehow, I'm not surprised it's still got a reputation as 'Sin City,' even this long after the bombs."
The Nick Valentine of old never visited Las Vegas, but he certainly knew about it well enough for the Nick Valentine of today to draw on those impressions. He's extra-wary about the city as a result, an attitude not helped by the many people staring at him because of his detective getup, jagged edges and golden eyes. Some people are polite enough to walk up and ask what he is: Others offer to buy him off the sole survivor directly, much to Nick's chagrin. When James Garret offers him a thousand caps for "one night of his services," Nick puts his foot down and starts glaring at everyone who so much as walks up to him and the sole survivor during their trip. The exceptions to this rule are Veronica, who is extremely polite and non-invasive with her questioning; Arcade, who is too polite to even mention Nick's synthetic state; and Raul, who finds the whole thing hilarious but admits that his ghoul status has landed him in some similar situations.
Piper: "I've heard plenty of stories about this place, and if even a quarter of them are true, I ought to get a good travel piece out of just about anyone we pass on the street."
Piper's on a mission to track down the history of New Vegas, which, like Curie, sends her on a path toward its biggest political figures. Aside from them, she's particularly interested in the services of the Mojave, like the Gun Runners, the Crimson Caravan Company, and especially the Mojave Express. Piper gets along swell with just about everyone, and she basks in the widespread acceptance that she lacks back home due to her chosen profession. She desperately tries to get Johnson Nash to ship a case of Sunset Sarsaparilla cross-continent for her, but he gently turns her down and tells her that the only courier he knows crazy enough to undertake a trip to the Commonwealth is too busy nowadays.
Preston: "They're not too friendly to outsiders here, or so I'm told, but there are always good folks to be found if you know where to look."
Preston, true to form, offers help to every little settlement he and the sole survivor come through on their journey, which delays their path to Vegas quite a bit. He makes a beeline for the Old Mormon Fort as soon as he hears the Followers of the Apocalypse have a base there, though, and spends most of his visit picking the brain of its leaders about the best ways to aid those in need in the wasteland. He and Arcade get into some spirited debates about the pros and cons of having a civil service force focused on military matters versus civilian matters, and the Minutemen leader leaves the Mojave with a lot of new ideas to carry home to the Commonwealth.
Strong: "Strong not looking for 'good time,' puny human. Strong looking for thing that make super mutants stronger."
Strong hates New Vegas, but that's nothing unexpected. The sole survivor tries to limit their time in the city and take him around the desert to locales where super mutants are more likely to be found, which brings them to Jacobstown. Surprise surprise, Strong hates Jacobstown - at first. Little by little, through talking with Lily, the other nightkin, and Marcus, Strong starts to realize that the super mutants of the town are doing exactly what he values and sharing their resources among each other for the good of the community, just minus the usual violence associated with super mutants. He struggles with this alternative way of life for a bit, but eventually comes to accept that to be a super mutant, you don't have to constantly attack those around you to show off your strength.
X6-88: "Be careful. The Institute's records about this area indicate high levels of theft, murder, and unsavory characters. It would be best to keep our guard up."
Like Nick, X6-88 greets everyone in the Mojave with open suspicion, and can hardly be convinced to leave the sole survivor's side for their entire journey. His dedication to this task leads those around him to joke about him being "a human Securitron," which the sole survivor finds amusing: X6-88 does not. Still, the ability to hire and maintain a professional-looking bodyguard while visiting New Vegas doesn't go unnoticed, and most people assume that means the sole survivor has a lot of money to spend or be separated from by force. Criminals are more likely to be ruthless, hell-bent on stealing the loads of caps the sole survivor surely has tucked away. Business owners, on the other hand, are more polite to the pair on their travels, giving them better service and goods that ingratiate X6-88 a bit more to the common people aboveground.
BONUS!
Ada: "Jackson brought us out here once, when Zoe decided she wanted to try acquiring a Securitron. The leader of the Strip turned us down."
While Deacon is playing coy about his experience in the Mojave, Ada is completely open about hers. She hasn't been to the Strip, the dam, or any of the Mojave's "fun" destinations, but she remembers the Crimson Caravan Company headquarters, the 188 trading post, and many of the small towns along the way. Her fondest memories are of scavenging around the ruins of the REPCONN test site, the Aerotech Office Park and HELIOS One. She also recalls that her caravan friends came to visit primarily to find a Securitron to take apart and repurpose, but won't say exactly what happened when they tried to do so, other than warn the sole survivor "not to invite the wrath of the House."
Gage: "Now this is a town that knows how to run a successful racket. We need to find out who's in charge, see if they can give us some tips."
Porter Gage walks right up the steps of the Lucky 38 as soon as he finds out that someone inside is running the Strip, and demands that the Securitrons let him in to "talk to the boss." The robots aren't impressed, of course, and toss him out straightaway. Gage, not one to be discouraged easily, tries to find information among the nearby raider gangs instead: Fiends, Vipers, Jackals or Great Khans, he's not too picky. The current state of the raiders in the Mojave quickly informs him that they're failing one by one against the power of New Vegas, and he renews his efforts to find the recipient of the endless streams of caps. Thwarted at every turn, he and the sole survivor retire to Gomorrah, where they bemoan their bad luck while the courier sits a few seats down from them, listening in and smirking.
Longfellow: "Just point me to the nearest saloon. If I can't cool down, I'll try to forget I'm hot."
Longfellow parks himself at the nearest watering hole and does his best to avoid the scorching Mojave heat. The Maine-born grandpa is pretty miserable during the daytime hours unless he's sitting in front of a fan with a cold beer, swapping stories about Far Harbor critters with the bar regulars. At night he's a bit more open to adventuring with the sole survivor, when the desert cools down and he can see the sights by moonlight. Although he's not a fan of the hustle and bustle of the Strip, most of the large casinos there have air conditioning thanks to the Lucky 38, so he claims a table in the back and glares at anyone who disturbs him and his drink. He gets along with most of the New Vegas crowd though, if they agree to pick up the tab.
Maxson: "We came this way, when the Elders sent me to the East Coast. I wonder if the chapter here is still persevering."
Elder Maxson is surprisingly reluctant to visit the two things that the sole survivor would've thought he'd be interested to see in the Mojave: The Strip, or the Hidden Valley bunker. If pressed, he'll admit that he's not the type to cut loose and gamble, drink or participate in general debauchery as a result of his upbringing and position of authority, but neither is he keen to drop in on the dying Western chapters of his order and become stifled by protocol and ass-kissing. He prefers to wander the desert itself, seeking solitude among the cacti and under the stars. Given the chance, he'd probably nip off to Quarry Junction and anonymously solve the NCR's deathclaw problem, if it hasn't already been taken care of. He refuses to wear his uniform for the entire trip.
Desdemona: "The Mojave probably wouldn't know what to make of our mission, which is how you know it's a good place to hide. I wonder if any of our rescued synths made it out this far."
This is by far the most relaxed the sole survivor has ever seen Desdemona, and why wouldn't it be? She's so far removed from her usual sphere that she drops her usual, tight-knit demeanor and embraces loosening up. She's still not talking openly about the Railroad's operations, but she is more likely to answer questions both personal and professional. Like Deacon, she knows a bit about the Mojave, but not so much that she can blend in completely. Instead, she embraces being a tourist and does all the usual things that go with it: Visiting the Strip, the Sunset Sarsaparilla headquarters, the Thorn, and especially Hoover Dam. When she's looking out over Lake Mead, with the sun getting caught in her hair as it sets on her left, she almost looks happy.

This wasn't requested, I just wanted to write this.
I know that RuLu isn't very popular, but I can't help but love it for the same reasons that I love FreLu. I honestly think that they are a very good-looking ship. I also think that their personalities go well together and since they had like no interaction that I can remember, the fics you can write about them aren't restricted by canon material (if that makes sense). I think RuLu is a very appealing ship because it's a rare pair and, in case you haven't noticed, I LOVE rare pairs.
I don't have anything in particular to say about this oneshot, except that I hope you enjoy it!
I Quit for You (Rufus x Lucy)
"Come on, Luce, talk to me!" Natsu begged his best friend as she finished up her packing. The pink-haired man was sitting on her bed, having climbed through her window. Lucy now stood in the middle of her room, running through her packing in her mind, making sure that she hadn't forgotten anything. She was purposefully ignoring her pyromaniac friend in hopes that he would decide to leave and pick a fight with Gray or annoy some other guildmate, but it seems she would have no such luck.
"Luuuuuuuce." Natsu wailed, flopping backward on the blonde's freshly made bed. The celestial wizard shot him a glare after noticing that he had caused the bed to become slightly messed during his break-in and whining.
Lucy sighed as Natsu continued. She sat a bag on top of her suitcase. She then pulled out a golden gate key, pointed it out in front of her, and called out, "Open! Gate of the Maiden: Virgo!" With a golden glow and the chime of a strong bell, Lucy's loyal, pink-haired maid celestial spirit stood a few feet in front of her.
The stoic spirit bowed as she spoke, "you summoned me, Princess? Is it punishment time?" Lucy shook her head. "No, Virgo, no punishment. I would like you to keep my things in the Celestial Spirit World until I need them, please." Virgo nodded and picked up the suitcase and bag that her wizard pointed to with a simple "of course, Princess," and then she disappeared in a golden glow and sparkles.
"Luuuuuuuuce."
Lucy groaned as she turned around. "What? What do you want, Natsu?"
The Dragon Slayer quickly sat up. He beamed at her, "let's go on a job, just you and me!" Lucy stared at him dumbfounded. Did he really not just see me pack some of my stuff and send it to the Celestial Spirit World? The blonde shook her head. "No, Natsu."
"But why not?" He flopped back down onto his back.
Lucy rolled her chocolate-brown eyes. "Because I'm taking a solo job."
Natsu sprang back up, exclaiming, "what? But we're a team and I don't want to go alone!"
"Go with Erza and Gray."
"Gray's hanging out with Lyon at Lamia Scale and trying to get away from Juvia. Erza's helping Bisca teach Azuka Requip magic."
"Where's Happy? You can take him."
"He's too busy trying to find the perfect fish for Carla."
Lucy chuckled at that last thing. She then steeled herself and stated sternly, "I'm still going by myself. You're just gonna have to either go alone or partner with someone else." She then added, "I'm sure Romeo would love to go with you. Hasn't Macao been telling you to take him on a job?" Natsu nodded, muttering an "I guess."
Lucy then placed her hand on Horologium's key, getting the time. She released a small gasp upon hearing from him that it was ten minutes past nine in the morning. She hurriedly ushered Natsu out of the window, mumbling, "I have to get going now" and "I'm late, you distracted me for too long."
Once Natsu was reluctantly out of her apartment and on his way back to the guild, Lucy headed into the bathroom to look over her appearance. She straightened her red tub top and smooth down her black miniskirt, also adjusting her belt that held her whip and keyring of Celestial Spirit Gate Keys. She then ran her hands over her golden blonde hair and tightened the red ribbon that held some of her hair in a small side ponytail while the rest of her hair was left to hang loose.
Once she was satisfied with how she looked, she dashed out of her apartment after straightening the covers on her bed and made her way to the train station.
Rufus stood on the train station platform. He leaned against the wall, keeping an eye out for a certain blonde from under the brim of his red hat. He had made sure to get to the train station before her so that she wouldn't need to wait for him. It's rude to make a lady wait, after all.
He instantly caught sight of a familiar young woman. He pushed off of the wall and watched her run over to him happily. As she got closer, he noticed her outfit. He couldn't help but marvel at how beautiful she looked. She especially looked great in red.
Once the blonde reached him, Rufus greeted her, "Hello, Princess. I'm glad you accepted my offer to take a job together." As he spoke, he took her hand into his and brought the back of her hand to his lips, pressing a light kiss to the remarkably soft skin. He watched as Lucy began to blush at his action. We've been together for a year now, and that still flusters her. How precious. Rufus suppressed an amused chuckle.
Her lovely voice then brought him out of his thoughts, "Red, I've told a hundred times now, stop calling me 'Princess.' Many of my spirits do that already, I don't need my boyfriend doing it too."
Rufus smiled at the cute pout that his girlfriend was giving him. He chuckled, responding with an amused tone in his voice, "but you're my princess. Why should I call you anything else? Besides, you call me 'Red.' I'm not particularly fond of that nickname." Lucy gave a few giggles.
"Your name is Latin, meaning 'red-haired.' 'Red' is the perfect nickname." Rufus rolled his dark green eyes. He tightened his hold on her hand a little bit. "What would you rather I call you?" Lucy thought about it. She then answered with a small sigh, "anything but 'Princess.'"
Rufus gave the other blonde a light peck on her soft lips that he just loved to kiss. He pulled back and suggested, "how about 'My Dove?'" Lucy blushed at that nickname, then looked down at the wood-planked platform when she felt the warmth in her face. She nodded her approval, earning a forehead kiss from the Sabertooth mage.
She looked up at him, asking, "do you want me to call you something else?" Rufus thought about it. After a few moments, he shook his head. "There really isn't any nickname you can make out of 'Rufus.' I suppose 'Red' isn't a bad nickname, but only when you say it." Lucy could feel herself blush once more. Geez, this guy just gets a kick out of making me blush every second, doesn't he?
Lucy began to walk past him, towards the area where you purchase train tickets, stating, "We should get our tickets, the train will be here soon." Before she could get far, Rufus had grabbed her arm. The Fairy Tail mage looked back at him to see that he was holding up two train tickets to their destination. Lucy silently sighed. Of course, he already bought the tickets.
The train soon pulled up to the station. Rufus tucked Lucy's arm into his and escorted her to the train doors as though they were entering one of those fancy balls that Lucy used to attend all the time. The pair soon found an empty cabin and sat down next to each other, Lucy resting her head on her boyfriend's shoulder, and Rufus setting his hat on the seat in front of his as he held his girlfriend's hand tightly in his and rested his head against hers. The two enjoyed each other's presence, knowing that it would be some time until they would both be able to get away from their respective guildmates long enough to spend time together.
Lucy ran her fingers through Rufus' soft blonde hair. He was laying down on the seat with his head resting on his girlfriend's lap. They had been on the train for three hours, with about another hour left to go. The Fairy Tail mage looked down at her Sabertooth boyfriend and admired his sleeping face. He had taken off his red and gold mask and sat it on the other seat along with his hat. The blonde woman marveled at how handsome he was. His features were soft and could definitely make any woman swoon. Lucy wondered why he would hide his incredibly attractive face behind a mask, but she supposed that was something that drew her to him.
Rufus' mask gave him a mysterious air. Lucy had always liked mysterious men. She supposed it was because of all the romance books she practically grew up reading. Her favorite stories were when a man cloaked in mystery would suddenly show up in the female lead's life and whisk her off of her feet, mostly by saving her from danger. He would then enrapture her with his mysterious air, smooth words, and romantic gestures. Lucy had always wanted to fall in love with a man like that, but after running away and joining Fairy Tail, it had seemed as though that would never happen.
Enter Rufus Lore.
Lucy remembered the day that she met him vividly. She leaned her head back against the seat and closed her eyes, allowing her memories to take over and her mind to take her back to that day.
Lucy had taken a solo job. She wanted to take a break from the destructive chaos that was Team Natsu. She had been wandering through a forest, looking for the small group of thieves that were jumping people at night and robbing them. She figured she'd be able to handle it. The job request stated that the thieves were possibly magic users, but it wasn't known for sure. Lucy knew that she and her spirits would be fine as long as they kept their eyes on the thieves.
She was about to summon Pyxis to help her find the thieves' hideout when a ball of fire was thrown towards her from the cover of the trees. Lucy had seen it coming at and dove out of the way. She staggered to her feet and looked in the direction of the attack. She found two men and a woman standing across from her, on the other side of a patch of blackened dirt and burnt grass.
One of the men, a tall one in a well-tailored tuxedo, smirked. "Well well well, it appears the town sent a pretty wizard to fight us." The other two snickered.
The woman, a black-haired one in a skimpy, black leather outfit, engulfed her fist in flames. She sneered, "it's a shame that she dodged. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to take another shot."
The other man, a rather short guy that was dressed messily and had sloppy blonde hair, simply chuckled crudely.
Lucy quickly took out the gates keys of two of her most reliable spirits. She called out, Open! Gate of the Lion: Loke! Open! Gate of the Maiden: Virgo!" The two spirits appeared in two golden glows, both saying the lines that they usually do when summoned.
"Punishment, Princess?"
"Your knight in shining armor has arrived."
Lucy pulled out Taurus' key and pointed it at her chest. She called, "Star Dress: Taurus Form!" With a glow of golden light, she was clad in a black and white, cow patterned bra with similar colored sleeves, pants that revealed her entire right leg, brown gloves, and boots, and finally a belt with a large pouch and a gold belt buckle with Taurus' zodiac sign on it. Her blonde hair was tied into two buns on either side of her head while some of her hair framed her face.
At the sight of the three thieves getting ready to attack Lucy called out an order to her spirits, "Virgo, go after the short man! Loke, attack the man that's dressed like you!" The two spirits nodded and did as they were told, while Lucy dodged the firey attacks of the woman. The blonde mage easily performed acrobatic acts in her attempts to avoid being burned. She thanked whatever deity there was that she had taken Vijeeter's offer to teach her acrobatics. She flicked her whip at the female fire mage as she dodged the thrown fire, trying to take hold of the woman's leg and pull her off-balance, but the thief was quick.
After what seemed to be hours of combat, Lucy had finally wrapped the unconscious fire mage up in her whip. She breathed a sigh as she looked down at herself. She had only a few minor burns, but that didn't mean that they weren't painful, if just a little. She looked over at Loke and Virgo to find that they too had defeated their opponents. The two men were knocked out and the two spirits had already returned to the Spirit World.
Lucy changed out of her Star Dress and thought about how she would take them back to the town. Eventually, she came to the conclusion that she should just summon Taurus and have him carry the three back to the town.
She reached for Taurus' key when she heard a faint rustling in the bushes behind her. She turned around and watched, but she didn't hear anything else. She chalked it up to nothing and turned back around. Just as she was about to call out her golden bull spirit she heard more rustling behind her. She knew she heard something this time. The blonde turned around, but before she could react to the large rush of water that came at her, she was literally swept off of her feet by someone.
Lucy had her eyes screwed closed. She knew that whoever had saved her from the attack was running because she felt the movement of their body and the air rushing by. Soon, the person that saved her came to a stop and sat Lucy down. She opened her eyes and looked up to see a man that she recognized but hadn't had much of any interaction with: Rufus Lore, Sabertooth's resident Memory-Make mage.
Lucy was shocked to see him here. So shocked that she wasn't able to speak. She silently watched as the man walked back towards the small group of dark mages. The blonde woman looked down at her lap, her hands softly gripping the grass that she was sitting on. She couldn't figure out why Rufus would be here unless he was on his way to a job or visiting someone and was just passing by. She was also confused about why he had saved her. Sabertooth and Fairy Tail may be friends now, but that doesn't mean the hostility was completely gone, it was still there, but to a lesser extent.
She was brought out of her thoughts when she heard footsteps of leaves. She looked to see Rufus returning. He walked over to her and picked up bridal style again. In complete silence he took her to the town's doctor, so her minor burns could be properly tended to. After the treatment and Lucy took the dark mages to the town jail just before collecting her reward money, Rufus offered his assistance in returning the stolen belongings that they found in the thieves' hideout to the townspeople.
It was night when they finished. Rufus was escorting Lucy to the town's hotel so she could stay the night and then head back to Magnolia early in the morning. The blonde Fairy Tail mage turned to the Sabertooth mage and asked, "what were you doing in that forest?" Rufus looked over at her and gave a small smile before looking back ahead. Lucy couldn't help but be taken with the mysterious vibe that he gave off.
She waited for him to answer. Finally, Rufus spoke calmly, "I have a couple of friends that fell victim to those mages. I decided to offer my assistance pro bono. It appears, though, that you took care of much of the work for me." Lucy nodded, casting her brown eyes down to the ground. She thought it was very nice that Rufus would do that. It made her like him more.
After the two arrived at the hotel, Rufus had asked if she would be interested in going to a cafe nearby that he enjoyed visiting every time he was nearby just before she went back to Magnolia. Lucy figured it wouldn't do any harm, so she accepted his invitation.
They had an enjoyable time the next day and meet fairly frequently afterward. A few months into their meetings, Rufus had asked Lucy out on a proper date. She had said yes and the two had been happily dating since.
Lucy opened her dark eyes and looked back down at her blonde boyfriend. She was sad that they didn't get to meet as often as they liked, only when they could both escape their guildmates. This was about once or twice a month, and only for a few hours. Lucy wished she could spend more time with Rufus. She wished they could have dinners together at one of their homes, maybe move in together, and spend an entire day together, just sitting on the couch snuggled up to each other and either talking or enjoying a comfortable silence. She wished that there was no chance of their guilds having any problem with their relationship and stop hiding their romance.
She knew that much of Fairy Tail would be accepting, but Team Natsu and some others would not be easily swayed. She wasn't sure about Sabertooth, but if what little Rufus has said on the topic is anything to go on, his guild would not be okay with his relationship with Lucy at all.
Lucy was brought back to reality when the conductor announced that the train would be stopping at Psychtown in ten minutes. That was the town that Lucy and Rufus were going to for their job. Lucy looked down at her boyfriend. She stroked his cheek gently, saying to him softly, "get up, Red. We're almost to Psychtown." The blonde man didn't move and instead continued to lay on her lap with his eyes closed.
The celestial wizard would have thought that he was still asleep if it wasn't for the fact that she could clearly see the right corner of his mouth twisted up slightly in an almost smirk. Lucy rolled her eyes. She knew what he was doing. She laughed and said, "all right then, Sleeping Beauty, have it your way." She then placed her hand on Rufus' cheek and leaned down, pressing her lips to his. He immediately kissed back softly. When Lucy pulled back Rufus sat up, smoothing down his shiny blonde hair and grabbing his hat and mask off of the seat across from them, putting the items back in their proper places on his person.
The train came to a stop. Rufus stepped past Lucy before she could stand. He held his hand out to her. Once Lucy placed her hand in his, he gently pulled her out of her seat. Just before he could tuck her arm into his like he had done earlier that day, Lucy entwined her fingers with his, holding his hand that way that he had seen many couples do in the past. Lucy saw him smile at this and allowed him to escort her off of the train, with him walking slightly ahead of her.
Rufus stepped onto the platform with his girlfriend. He watched as she looked around at the rather large town before them. He had been here before on other jobs, so he could understand Lucy's fascination. Psychtown didn't look like a town, but rather a city with lots to do. He had made sure to bring extra jewel because he knew that his Fairy Tail girlfriend would want to go shopping and maybe even try to find some celestial gate keys.
He tightened his grip on the other blonde's hand and began walking. He looked over at her and asked, "My Dove, what would you like to do first? Look around or complete the job?" Lucy turned her head from the stores she was staring at.
She answered, "complete the job, of course. By the way, what is the job? You're the one that picked it out and I haven't even looked at the request." Rufus reached into a pocket and handed her a piece of paper. Lucy looked read it over. Hmmm, so the mayor needs help organizing a huge library? That shouldn't be too hard. Lucy's brown eyes drifted to the bottom of the paper that listed the reward. Her eyes widened. 200,000 jewel and three spirit keys?! Rufus, have I told you how much I love you?
Rufus chuckled at the way that his girlfriend was staring at the reward. He knew she would love it.
They soon arrived at the mayor's office and were taken to the library that they had to organize. Once they entered, both Rufus and Lucy gaped at the size. It was one that seemed like it belonged in a king's castle. Boxes of books were lying around everywhere. The two blonde mages looked at each other. They share one thought, this is going to take a while. The mayor turned to the two mages and spoke, "the boxes all have writing on them that indicate the genre of the books inside of them. I'd like each bookshelf to be used for one genre." The mayor then walked past the two blondes and left.
The Saber and Fairy stared at the large bookshelves before them that lined the walls. There had to be at least twenty and each one had to be able to hold hundreds of books. Lucy muttered just loud enough for Rufus to hear, "well, I guess we better get to work." Rufus nodded and the two walked over to the nearest bookshelf. They quickly came up with a plan. Rufus would hand Lucy the books and Lucy would place the books on the shelves. They decided to begin with non-fiction books. Lucy summoned Virgo, Loke, and Aries, then instructed them to group the genre-marked books together in several separate groups. Fiction in one group, romance in one group, self-help in another, and so on, while Rufus and Lucy worked on the non-fiction books.
The two talked as they worked, telling each other about their individual guilds and teammates as well as other jobs that they had taken since they last met. Eventually, they finished placing all of the books into the bookshelves. They were walking back to the mayor's office when Rufus asked, "what time is it?" Lucy placed her hand on Horologium's key. She then answered after receiving the time from her clock spirit, "it's 7 pm."
Rufus reached for the doorknob as he responded, "wow, this job took us about five hours. Would you like to go shopping, or find a hotel, My Dove? I told my guildmates that I would be returning in about a week." Lucy stopped in her tracks. Rufus could tell that she was thinking it over. He hoped that she would agree to stay for a few days so they could spend some more time together. Lucy then smiled at him, saying cheerfully, "yeah, let's say for a bit longer. We could probably both use a break from our guilds." Rufus chuckled and opened the door, gesturing for his girlfriend to walk ahead of him.
They collected the reward from the grateful mayor and began looking for a clothing store. As they walked along the well-lit sidewalk, past the brightly lit stores and restaurants. Lucy was staring at her three new keys while also looking for a place to clothes shop. Rufus questioned, "what keys are those?" Lucy stopped walking to answer.
She held up one silver key that had a green shield on the handle. "This one is the key of The Sheild Constellation, Scutum."
Then held up a second silver key with a black bird-like shape on the handle. "This is key of The Crow, Corvus."
Lastly, she held up the third silver key, the handle adorned with a sword and shield. "This is the key of The Hero, Perseus."
Rufus watched as she put the three new keys on her keyring as she mumbled, "I'll form contracts with them when I get back to Magnolia." She then yawned just before she began her search. Rufus frowned at that. He didn't want his girlfriend to stay up most of the night and be tired tomorrow. He picked her up bridal style, saying, "it's late, let's continue looking for a place for you to shop tomorrow." Lucy began to protest, but the blonde man stopped her by saying, "we'll make a date of it, how does that sound, My Beautiful Dove?" Lucy grinned and nodded furiously. Rufus gave her a loving smile. He walked to the hotel that they had previously stopped by to unpack at while still carrying his Fairy Tail girlfriend.
The next morning, Rufus woke up to find Lucy snuggled in his arms. He pulled her closer, nuzzling his nose into her sweet-smelling, golden blonde hair. He didn't mind staying like this all day. However, Lucy began to stir. She sat up and stretched, Rufus following suit. The blonde man then placed his hand on his girlfriend's cheek and turned her head toward him. He gave her a sweet and loving kiss on the lips, which she reciprocated instantly. They pulled away and Rufus watched as Lucy jumped out of bed, rushing around to get ready for their day out as she talked about what she wanted to do today. Rufus simply nodded along. He didn't care about what they did. he just wanted to spend time with his beautiful Fairy and make her happy.
Once the two left their hotel and got breakfast, they managed to locate a large clothing store that made Lucy practically glow with happiness. She grabbed Rufus' hand and pulled him around. She picked out clothes for herself, tried them on, and asked her boyfriend for his opinion on the outfits. Once Lucy was satisfied she insisted on buying some clothes for Rufus. He had stated that it wasn't needed, but he truly couldn't say no to her, so he quickly gave in.
As Lucy was looking through a rack of dress shirts for a blue one, Rufus stood next to her, holding the clothes that she had picked out for herself. It wasn't an excessive amount of clothing items, but his hands were still filled.
He watched his girlfriend look when he caught sight of two boys checking her out. The two brunettes were whispering to each other while staring at her chest and ass. Rufus frowned at this, he didn't like the idea of a couple of perverts objectifying his girlfriend like how he knew those two guys were. He sat the clothes on a nearby table of shirts and walked over to the two boys.
He silently grabbed them by their shirts and dragged them away. Once they were out of Lucy's earshot and sight Rufus threatened the two boys with a chilling tone of voice, "if you keep staring at my lady I will make you regret the very days you two were born, got it?." The two brunettes paled and nodded their heads furiously. Rufus released them and watched as they ran out of the store. He then made his way back to his girlfriend, picked up the clothes he had sat down, and resumed his waiting for Lucy to find what she was looking for.
He watched with a small smile on his handsome face. He wished he could spend more time with her, but it wasn't easy to get away from the sharp eyes of his guildmates. He would have happily made their relationship public, but his guild wouldn't accept it, they still had some lingering hostility towards the Fairies, Sting especially. He had thought about quitting Sabertooth and joining Fairy Tail so they didn't have to continue to hide their relationship, but he hadn't brought it up to Lucy yet. He wanted to talk to her about it first.
The couple spent all day walking around and shopping. Lucy was enjoying her time with her boyfriend. They dropped their many bags of clothing off at the hotel room and headed out again to eat at an Italian restaurant they had seen earlier.
They were shown to their table and sat down, quickly taking a look at the menus. The waitress brought them breadsticks and took their drink orders. Lucy was looking at the types of pasta the restaurant offered when she heard Rufus' charming voice, "see anything that interests you, My Dove?"
Lucy blushed at the nickname once again. She hid her face behind the menu but knew that Rufus had seen the blush from how he chuckled at her adorable action. The blonde woman answered him, managing not to stutter, "the Fettuccine Alfredo looks good. I'll order that. What about you?"
Rufus toyed with the pink feather of his hat that he had sat on the table next to him. "I plan to order a lasagna." Lucy smiled at him. She loved dates with Rufus. He was never boring and he always knew how to make her blush. She was truly in love, so much so she was honestly surprised that had yet to say 'I love you' to him. Though, to be fair he hadn't said those words to her yet either. Lucy planned to change that soon, she just needed to wait for the right moment.
The waitress soon came with their drinks and asked if they were ready to order their food. Rufus spoke before Lucy could, "I'll have the lasagna and the lady would like Fettuccine Alfredo, please." The waitress nodded as she wrote down the orders. She then took the menus and walked away.
Lucy and Rufus snacked on the breadsticks as they talked. Their food soon came. Just a few minutes into their meal, Rufus stopped upon glancing at the entrance of the restaurant. Lucy looked at her boyfriend worriedly, he looked shocked and as though he wanted to hide. It would be hard for anybody else to tell because of his mask, but Lucy knew him well enough to tell what emotions he was feeling even with a mask on his face.
She followed Rufus' stare to the front of the restaurant. She paled when she saw Sting and Rogue each holding an exceed. She froze in place, her mind blank. She had no idea what to do. What should she and Rufus do if Sting and Rogue say them? She and Rufus watched in horror as Rogue spotted them. With an emotionless mask on his face, he tapped Sting's shoulder and pointed towards the two blondes. Sting was visibly shocked but quickly became angry. He handed Lector to his best friend and stalked over to the couple's table.
Lucy turned around and stared down at her food. She glanced at Rufus. His face had taken on a look of apathy as he watched Sting approach. The blonde guild master placed his hands on the table and leaned forward, glaring at Rufus. "What the hell are you doing with a Fairy?" He spoke with a snarl.
Rufus stared up at him, returning his guild master's dark blue glare with his own dark green one. The Memory-Make mage responded curtly, "why do you care about what I do with my time, Master?" He spat out the word 'master' as though it was a foul bite of food. The White Dragon Slayer narrowed his eyes. After a few tense moments, he straightened and folded his arms behind his back. He spoke sternly, eyes still locked firmly on Rufus, "shall we take this outside?" Rufus nodded and stood. Lucy watched with worry, but when her boyfriend gave her one of his loving smiles, she relaxed slightly. She remained seated as Rufus and Sting walked away, waiting for her boyfriend to return and praying that he would return unharmed.
She stared at her pasta, having lost her appetite. She knew that by continuing to see each other she and Rufus risked being found out. She knew that if they were found out they could be forced to break up, but neither of them cared very much at the time. They just wanted to be together. Now, it seemed as they may need to end their relationship, and before they were able to say 'I love you' to each other. Lucy fought back the tears that weld up in her chocolate brown eyes.
After several minutes she looked back at the entrance. She watched as Sting and Rogue walked back inside and were shown to their table. Rogue ignored the celestial wizard, but Sting shot her a glare. Lucy turned her eyes back to the front doors, waiting for her boyfriend, but as the seconds ticked by and he didn't appear she grew more and more worried. She was sure that they hadn't gotten into a fight with their magic because they had only been outside for a few minutes, she also didn't hear anything.
She finally got tired of waiting. Standing up, Lucy grabbed Rufus' hat and ran outside, telling the hostess at the front that she would be right back. She then threw open the doors and looked around. She found Rufus sitting on the cement ground, leaning against the restaurant. Lucy rushed to him. She kneeled down and cupped his face, leaning it up so she could make sure he was conscious. Rufus looked into her brown eyes with his dark green ones. He gave a small smile, indicating that he was alright. Lucy ran her thumb over a darkening spot on her boyfriend's cheek, guessing that he had been punched.
Rufus took her hands in his. Lucy blushed lightly. She whispered, "are you alright?"
Rufus sighed and then nodded. He smiled at his girlfriend and answered softly, "I'm no longer a Sabertooth mage, but yes, I'm fine. My cheek is a little sore though."
Lucy gasped at what he had said. "What? Sting kicked you out of Sabertooth?!"
Rufus chuckled as he shook his head. "No, My Dove, Sting did not kick me out. I quit Sabertooth. I want to stop hiding our love for each other. I want to join Fairy Tail."
Lucy stared at him in shock. She hadn't expected this. She would never have asked him to quit the guild he had practically grown up in, but at the same time, she was happy that they could finally be openly a couple. She slammed her lips onto his, initiating a passionate kiss, one which Rufus wasted no time in returning.
Lucy pulled away, breathless. Rufus placed a hand softly on her cheek. He stared at her with a look of pure love as he softly spoke, "I love you, Lucy. I love with my entire being, with all my heart, and I want to spend my entire life with you, as a member of Fairy Tail." Lucy blushed at the confession. She smiled brightly. She said, her voice just as soft as his, "I love you too, Rufus. I want to spend my entire life with you, too. First thing tomorrow, let's go back to Magnolia, make you a member of Fairy Tail, and come out about our relationship."
Rufus smiled at her enthusiasm. One of many things he loved about her. He happily agreed to this as his girlfriend stood, helping him to his feet. They headed back inside to finish their food.
As Lucy went on and on about the Fairy Tail members that she wanted to introduce him to and Rufus happily listened to her beautiful voice that he could listen to continuously without getting tired of it, there was only one thing on his mind: This is the woman that I am going to marry, no doubt.

Wow! This ended up being just over 6000 words! I didn't expect that!
I had a lot of fun writing this. I just love this ship. Hopefully, you enjoyed reading this.

Happy New Year!!! This is not a New Years story, but it is a story that I am using New Years as an excuse to post it. LOL
*****
Luka Couffaine was often described as the most relaxed and chill guy that anyone could ever meet. Often seen with his guitar on hand, playing what he would call a person's heart song. He was also described as a protective older brother to his sister, Juleka. Especially when it came to her friends.
The only ones that Luka really knew were Rose, Ivan, and Mylene as they were the ones that came over the most often. This was the first time that the entire class was on the Liberty. And if Luka was being honest with himself, he was most intrigued by Marinette, Lyon, and Adrien.
While he had not met Adrien personally yet, the things he had heard from the class made him curious about the model. Marinette also seemed really sweet and the type of person that could brighten a room just by walking into it. And Lyon seemed similar to himself, calm and easily just as observant.
Lyon and his sister had seemed almost like him and Juleka. They liked to be off to the side and observe. They also spoke of animals and plants like they spoke of music, that it relates to everything and everyone. Luka was amazed by their heart songs. So full of life, harmony, and with a slight sense of mysteriousness.
But most of Luka's cool, calm, and collected personality was thrown out the window when his mother got akumatized into Captain Hardrock.
"A treasure in return for freedom," Anarka says. "Ho, ho, ho then I shall be your pirate Hawkmoth."
Black and purple smoke covers the ship.
"Oh no," Luka hears Marinette gasp.
Captain Hardrock rose up. Captain Hardrock has long red hair that is spiked upwards and golden eyes. The upper half of her face is covered with a black mark edged with dark red and she wears a black bandana with a white spiky-haired skull on the front, along with gold circular earrings.
She wears a bodysuit that is red from the collar to the chest and black from the chest, the color separation looking like flames. Her suit includes three yellow buttons vertically on her lower body, three golden spikes horizontally over each knee, and a golden patch above each hip. She has two black belts, one going around the body diagonally and the other wrapped around the waist, that have golden buckles. Over her suit, she wears a black captain jacket with golden inner lining, golden spikes on the shoulders, golden edges, and golden buckles on the sides. Black fingerless gloves with golden edges around the upper holes cover her arms up to her elbows. Her knee-high boots that end below the knees are black and red in a flame-like pattern with black soles, golden heels, black inner lining, and black stripes with golden spikes above the ankles.
"Raise the mainsail, me deck hands let's get swashbuckling around here," his akumatized mom orders.
"Mom," Juleka asks, shocked and scared.
"What's going on," Luka asked, concerned.
"Your mom has weighed anchor, me lad," the akuma says. "I'm Captain Hardrock and today Paris's timbers are about to be shivered by my cannons."
The captain looks through a telescope. Luka took that second to make a quick headcount. He realized that the Greek twins were not on board the Liberty anymore. Remembering that the two were close to the gangplank when all this started, he figured that they had most likely had gone and went to get help.
"Westward ho, Liberty next stop," she orders. "Jagged Stone at the Eiffel Tower. Soon, there will only be one concert in Paris only one Music Festival. We will destroy all the others. Now, get to your instruments and rock those decibels!"
"Mom please, you can't ruin the Music Festival," Luka calmly pleaded.
"You can't force people to listen to your music," Marinette tells the villain.
"No way we're playing like this," Ivan yells.
"Mutiny," Captain Hardrock sounded offended. "On my ship! Liberty, seize these scallywags and throw them down into the hold!"
Chains shot out from different places on the ship. But before any of the teens could react, arrows started flying over their heads and hit the chains. Every chain that an arrow hit instantly froze into ice. Then the next thing that they knew, another weapon flew past them and shattered all the ice chains.
Floating near the ship, above the water, was Beautifly with her shield-sized razor blade flower. And looking over, back on land, was White Wolf. His bow was still at the ready. Luka was amazed that the two got there so quickly and figured that it was because of Lyon and Vallia. He had seen the two newest heroes of Paris on the news and the Ladyblog, but this was the first time in person.
"If I was Cat Noir, I would probably make a very bad ice pun right about now," Wolf smirked. "But I'll stick to freezing things with my arrows."
"And I am happy you are," Beautifly giggles. "I mean, Cat is a great hero and all, but I am very close to slapping him over those cat puns."
"Creatures of the land and air are not welcome on my ship," Captain Hardrock shouts, pointing her sword at the butterfly girl.
"Do I look like I'm on your ship," Beautifly floated around. "If you haven't noticed, I'm not even touching the ground let alone your ship."
"Lock this fly in the brig, Liberty," Captain Hardrock ordered.
Chains, once again, shot out from different parts of the ship. They headed right for the butterfly hero. But unlike Ladybug, Cat Noir, and even her own partner White Wolf, Beautifly is able to fly. But that is obvious at this point. It did give her an advantage over most akumas. The way that she was currently flying around to avoid the chains was one very good example of these advantages.
"I'm a butterfly, thank you very much," Beautifly put her hands on her hips.
She made a quick dive back toward the water, flying barely a foot above it. The chains would hit the water instead as she gracefully dodged them. But she soon made a quick shot upwards as she got close to where her partner had been standing. That allowed him to fire a volley of arrows at the chains following her. Each one of them was soon frozen into ice. She quickly shattered them with her razor flower.
"Nice try, Jackie Sparrow," Wolf smirked.
Beautifly facepalmed. "What you lack in puns, you sure make up for in pop culture references."
"What can I say," Wolf shrugged. "I love American movies."
The kids still onboard the Liberty, meanwhile, seemed to finally get out of shock over the heroes showing up so quickly.
"We need to get off this ship," Alya quickly says.
"How," Ivan asked. "Do you want us to jump into the seine?"
"Would you rather be chained up on this ship," Alya countered.
"All ashore that's going to shore," Ivan headed right for the edge of the boat.
"Never thought I'd have to walk the plank of my own house," Juleka says, surprisingly still as calm as she was during the Horrificator incident.
"Why is everyone in the Couffaine family so shockingly calm," Marinette whispered to Alya.
"Your guess is as good as mine, girl," Alya whispered back. "But they can't all be that calm. Captain Crazy, over there, is one example."
"I am suddenly very grateful for my normal mother," Marinette says. "Yet, I am also intrigued by everyday life in the Couffaine household."
"I hope my crew isn't planning on jumping ship," they were caught in the act by the akuma.
"Shoot," Nino swore.
With a slash of her sword in the air, Captain Hardrock sent another round of chains toward them. Only this time, White Wolf was not fast enough with his bow. He tried, but people need to remember that nobody's perfect. The group of teenagers was soon all grabbed by the chains and pulled below deck.
"Oh, Hades," Beautifly swore. "Now we're going to need a rescue mission. Where are that cat and bug?"
"Don't ask me," Wolf said, freezing another chain.
Meanwhile, Adrien had been in his room. He was watching the news broadcast about the music festival. His father had not allowed him to go to the Liberty and play the keyboard for Kitty Section. He was pretty salty about that. (AN: An ocean pun inspired by Captain Hardrock. hehe.)
"Breaking News," Nadja Chamack interrupted the fun stuff.
"Huh," Adrien knew what this most likely meant.
"Another akuma attack is in progress along the seine," Nadja reported. "This akuma's goal seems to be to take over the music festival with its rock music by taking out all the other musical acts in the city."
"Some people just don't appreciate good music when they hear it," Plagg says, munching on some of his cheese.
"Plagg, claws out," Adrien did not have time for his sarcasm since he knew his friends were at the same river.
His friends may not currently be in much danger, but they were being held prisoner.
While the room wasn't really a brig, but the teens were still trapped in it. Ivan and Mylene were chained together, as were Nino and Alya. Rose and Juleka were both alone in their chains while Luka and Marinette were also chained together.
"You don't seem very worried, Marinette," Luka noticed.
"I am, but this isn't really my first time being held captive by an akuma," Marinette says. "Even if the Evillustrator considered that situation a date."
"Alright," Luka accepted that.
"Alya, remind to apologize to Nathaniel later for bringing that up," Marinette said.
"Girl, I am pretty sure that he wouldn't mind," Alya says. "Nath is almost as forgiving as you. And that says something considering that you could forgive anyone for anything."
"Not anything," Marinette protested. "If anyone insults my parent's bakery, I'll open up a can of butt-kick of fighting techniques that my mother taught me."
The way that she said that so sweetly was enough to send shivers down most of their spines.
Marinette then looked down. She saw Tikki waving at her, having come out of her purse to silently aid her. The kwami phased into the lock on her and Luka's chain, taking a little bit before the lock opened with a quiet SNAP.
"Wow, how'd you do that," Luka asked her.
"Uhh, I, Uhm..." Marinette had to think fast. "With this."
She holds up a guitar pick.
"You're amazing," Luka praised her. "A real magician, Marinette."
"You think so," Marinette asks, going all nervous like how she does around Adrien. "Oh, it was nothing, uh, amazing, really?"
"Excuse me, but some of us are still chained up here you know," Alya says, rolling her eyes.
Before either of the freed teens could do anything, they heard Captain Hardrock walk downstairs and laughing.
"Marinette, she's coming," Nino warned them.
"We'll come back, I promise," Marinette says as she and Luka leave the room quickly.
The two ended up locking themselves in Luka's own bedroom. They had to work quickly as Captain Hardrock soon broke in.
"Run, Marinette quick," Luka yelled out the window.
"Seize him," Captain Hardrock some more chains to catch her son.
It all happened faster than Luka could blink. Chains shot through the open door in order to trap him again. But at the same time, a trio of arrows flew through the open window/porthole and froze all of the incoming chains.
Luka turned around and saw that White Wolf was hanging from an icy-looking rope outside the window.
"My outfit is bright white, how do people miss me," he joked.
"Uh..." Luka had no idea how to respond to that.
"Whatever," Wolf shrugged. "Move that fine-looking butt, handsome, you're getting off this Black Pearl wannabe."
Luka blushed, even if he hid it very well. He didn't have much time to really try and think of anything as his mother was currently breaking through the frozen chains on her way to capture him again.
Taking White Wolf's hand, he was just barely able to get through the porthole.
"Time to leave," Beautifly tells them, seen fighting more chains with the newly arrived Cat Noir.
Luka had to immediately tighten his grip around White Wolf's waist as the icy hero fired another ice rope arrow. The two swung away on the rope, landing on the shore of the seine.
"My sister and friends are still in there," Luka immediately tells him.
"I know," Wolf says. "We will try to get as many of them off of the boat as possible. But we might need to also rely on Ladybug's Miraculous Cure if we can not."
"I understand," Luka said.
"Stay safe, Mr.Couffaine," Wolf tells him, running back into the battle.
Luka couldn't help but get lost as he caught a glimpse of the hero's beautiful eyes.
"Flirt later, Wolf," Beautifly calls.
"Yeah, that's my job," Cat Noir jokes. "OW!"
Beautifly had hit him on the back of the head.
"Sorry, I'm late," Ladybug apologizes, swinging into the fray.
"All heroes are allowed to be late every once in a while," Beautifly stated, blocking a chain with her razor flower. "May I remind you of Cat Noir's late arrival to the fight with Riposte."
"He also told me you were quite late during an akuma attack by someone called the Evilistrator," Wolf said. "That name, by the way, is horrid."
Captain Hardrock, unfortunately, then made her reappearance on deck. She was already angry over her son escaping the Liberty and seeing the four heroes together did not help her mood. She raised her sword.
"Capture those pests, Liberty," she ordered.
The heroes started flipping, jumping, and flying in Beautifly's case to avoid the flying chains. White Wolf aimed another of his arrows at the chain, but Captain Hardrock was having it this time.
"Liberty, fire," she ordered her ship.
One of the cannons aimed at the icy teen. But instead of a cannonball coming out, the cannon fired a soundwave of rock music. It was almost like the soundwave effect that Black Canary causes with her canary cry. It washed over the Greek hero.
White Wolf covered his wolf ears on the top of his head, yelling in pain. The sound was loud and horrible, actually causing pain with his enhanced wolf hearing. When Captain Hardrock sent more of her chains his way, Ladybug quickly threw her yo-yo around his waist and pulled him away from them and the sound blast.
"Leave it to me to face an akuma with sound powers when I have enhanced hearing," he shook his head like he had swimmer's ear.
"Just be happy that you and Beautifly weren't here when we were fighting Guitar Villain," Ladybug said.
"There was seriously a villain with that as a name," Wolf raised an eyebrow. "Does Hawkmoth have no creativity at all?"
"That remains to be seen," Cat Noir comments. "His villain names range from weird, to good, to not very original at all."
"Jagged Stone ahead, Liberty fire," Captain Hardrock ordered.
The ship fired its sound cannons again, only this time entire speakers were shot out. The speakers landed and attached themselves all around Jagged Stone's music area at the Itfil Tower. The music was so loud that it caused cracks to spider all around where the speakers landed.
"Where's a pair of earplugs when you need them," Beautifly remarked.
"Are you the one with sensitive ears, I don't think so," Wolf commented. "My ears are still ringing from that earlier blast."
"What do you think her akumatized object is," Beautifly asked.
"It has to be something on the ship, otherwise she wouldn't be able to control it the way she does," Ladybug theorizes.
"I could Cataclysm the entire ship," Cat Noir offered, raising the hand that he uses to destroy things.
"No," Ladybug instantly shut that idea down.
"There are hostages on the ship, Cat," Wolf informs the hero. "If you sink the ship, they might drown."
"Myself and White Wolf only managed to get one of them off the ship before you two showed up," Beautifly says. "The rest of them are still trapped somewhere on there."
"I think he is Anarka Couffaine's son Luka," Wolf said. "He might know why was hit by the akuma. I'll ask him."
"Fire at XY," Captain Hardrock commanded, the Liberty shooting more of its speakers at the Justin Beiber wannabe.
"Well, do it fast," Ladybug told him, then swung away toward the ship.
"She knows that we're not her sidekicks and she doesn't have to order us around like that, right," Wolf crossed his arms.
"We can tell her off later, let's go, Cat," Beautifly ordered, flying toward the ship.
"We are around some seriously bossy ladies," Cat Noir commented, before using his staff to get to the ship himself.
"I am surrounded by weirdos," Wolf shook his head.
He took his bow in hand, notching another arrow. He aimed it to freeze one of the cannons closed when the akuma saw what he was doing.
"Fire," she ordered.
Another sound blast came right at him. He covered his wolf ears as the sound really hurt with his magical hearing. His bow and arrow fell to the ground. He could hardly tell when another person ran up and picked up his bow. Said person aimed it at the cannon, fighting the headache that the sound was causing. The arrow froze the shooting cannon, stopping the sound.
"I never liked rock music before, and I am most certainly not going to start now," Wolf says, getting up.
"Are you okay," asked the person that fired the arrow.
White Wolf looked and saw that it was Luka that had picked up his bow.
"I'm good now, Mr.Couffaine," Wolf says. "Thanks for the assistance."
"You can call me Luka, White Wolf," Luka tells him.
"Alright, then, Luka," nobody can say that superheroes aren't great actors. "It was very brave of you to use my bow. Very telling as well."
"Telling," Luka was confused.
"Most civilians would be afraid of turning to ice by touching one of my arrows," Wolf explains. "It shows that in maybe another life, you would have made an excellent fit for the wolf miraculous."
"Wow," Luka was still as cool as they come.
"Anyway, did you see what object the akuma landed on," Wolf asked the blue and black-haired boy. "Destroying it is the only way for Ladybug to de-evilize your mom."
"I didn't see exactly, but it is most likely her compass," Luka says. "She has always said that a compass is a sailor's most prized possession."
As someone that grew up near the water, White Wolf actually understood that. He wondered how much easier Odysseus would have gotten home if he had just used a map and compass instead of the stars and a lot of faith. As much as he believed in the gods, common sense is also a thing to believe in.
White Wolf noticed the ice on the cannon starting to crack. He quickly scooped Luka into his arms and ran away just in time as the ice shattered and the sound blast started up again. The two barely got away in time. The sound waves just missed them. White Wolf put Luka down a little way more away from the akumatized ship.
"Stay here, Luka," Wolf directed.
"I have to help," Luka tells the hero. "White Wolf, there has to be a way for me to help."
White Wolf looked at the blue-haired teen. He had shown great bravery when he picked up his bow. Not many people, let alone teenagers, would do such a thing. An image of a silver box flashed into his head, giving him an idea.
"Wait right here, Luka," Wolf instructed. "If any of the others ask, tell them that I went to get help. Beautifly will understand what I mean."
Luka nodded as White Wolf got out his bow again. Using an icy rope, the Greek hero swung away from the Seine. He had no idea what the wolf hero was up to.
The holder of the wolf miraculous landed in an alley on the other side of the street from a beautiful jungle-like flower/garden shop. He de-transformed and out of the alley walked Lyon Garden. The dubbed Ice Prince made his way to the flower shop, greeting his father on the way in. He quickly made his way up to his room, which from what his sister, Vallia, had told him was almost like Marinette's bedroom but made for him instead of her.
Lyon went over to the bookshelf he keeps in his room. He pulled back the one book on the shelf that did not have a title on the spine. In a bit of a cliche turn of events, the bookshelf slid tp the side to reveal a hidden compartment. From the compartment, he pulled out a secure but elegant silver box. It was in the shape of a large jewelry box with bright blue markings that looked like a cross between ice and vines. Silver roses also were dotted around the box.
Lyon opened the box lid, revealing several other pieces of jewelry inside of it. On a raised area of the box was a place for hour pieces of jewelry. The ones marked for the wolf and butterfly miraculous were empty. But there was a bluebird necklace in the space for the miraculous of the songbird and a stag brooch in the place for the stag miraculous. The other miraculouses at the top of the box were around the raised area. A deer head pendant for the deer miraculous, a black snake armband for the python miraculous, a black panther pendant for the panther miraculous, a brown bear cuff bracelet for the grizzly bear miraculous, a feather hair clip for the falcon miraculous, and a white bird hair comb for the dove miraculous.
"I know the perfect choice for this akuma," Lyon talks to himself.
He picked up a necklace before quickly sealing the box back in its hiding place and leaving.
Back at the battle with Captain Hardrock, the remaining trio was having a bit of trouble with fighting off the chains as well as trying to search for her akumatized object.
"I have never seen Pirates of the Caribbean, and this is not making me want to," Cat Noir comments, jumping out of the way of more chains.
"There is a reason why pirates have never been very recorded in Greek history," Beautifly says. "Because there weren't any."
"Seriously," Ladybug raised her eyebrow at that.
"I'm pretty sure," Beautifly shrugs. "I'm a butterfly hero, you really think I know much about pirates at all?"
"I agree with her, only replace butterfly with black cat for me," Cat Noir says. "Cats and water do not mix, in any form."
There was a reason why being surrounded by frost and ice weakened him so much when Lady Wifi locked him in that freezer. Cats and water have never mixed.
"Heads up," Beautifly warned, darting around in the sky to avoid the chains coming her way.
"Fire at Nightingale," Captain Hardrock commanded.
The Liberty shot out more speakers at the energetic pop star.
"Beautifly, where is White Wolf," Ladybug practically demanded.
"I don't know, but I do have a pretty good idea," Beautifly tells her.
"He just abandoned us in the middle of a fight," Ladybug snapped, using her yo-yo to fight off chains.
"Need I remind you that we are not your sidekicks," Beautifly snapped back, blocking chains with her razor flower. "We don't have to inform you of everything we do. I trust that White Wolf has a plan. I do not immediately go for such negative thoughts."
"If he has a plan, he should have told us," Ladybug did not back down. "Maybe he would have if he didn't stop with those ridiculous pop culture references every other sentence."
"Not all heroes have to be stern and serious to be good heroes, Bug," Beautifly did not take any crap if someone insults her brother. "Have you ever seen videos of the Flash? He never seems all that serious, but succeeds every time in his fights."
"I've seen news of his battles, and Beautifly does have a point," Cat Noir said.
But before the other female hero could try to find a comeback, one of the chains managed to hook itself to Cat Noir's left wrist.
"Oh crud," Beautifly swore.
Cat Noir was pulled up to the crow's nest and his hands were pulled to either side of him as he was chained down by his wrists.
"Cataclysm," Cat Noir shouted.
His right hand bubbled with black energy, signaling his power of destruction. With a twist of his hand, he was able to free himself from the chain holding him to the crow's nest.
"Great, because you had to act all high and mighty with trying to boss us all around, Cat Noir now only had five minutes," Beautifly snaps at the red and black hero.
"He should have been paying more attention to what was going on around him," Ladybug countered. "He was probably too busy trying to think up another joke or another lame pick-up line to focus on the fight."
"Or maybe you distracted him by treating us all like sidekicks," Beautifly did not back down.
"These two fight more than most would think me and White Wolf would," Cat Noir thinks. "The whole cats and dogs hate each other stereotype and all that."
That was when the icy hero finally made it back to the fight. He landed not too far from where Luka was trying to keep up with the ship.
"Are those two seriously at it again," he asked the teen in blue.
"It is quite ironic," Luka says. "But their music has no way to harmonize. It is too different and can barely even be in the same song."
"It's funny that you mention harmonizing," Wolf smirked.
"Pardon," Luka faced the hero.
White Wolf pulled out a small silver box from under his cloak. It was like a mini version of the Miracle Box in his room, only square-shaped.
"Luka Couffaine, this is the miraculous of the songbird, symbolized by the gift of heart," Wolf held the box out to him. "You will use it for good in this time of need. After the battle is finished, I shall return to retrieve it should you choose to accept it."
"I...I do," Luka was actually showing shock. "I accept the miraculous, White Wolf."
Luka opened the box, and a ball of light came out. It soon turned into a kwami, but this one was a cute bluebird one.
"Geia, young holder," the kwami greeted. "My name if Meloetta and I am your kwami."
"My kwami," Luka was confused.
"Kwami's are what give me and the other heroes our powers," Wolf explained. "They are also generally good friends and guides of sorts for us."
"Wow," Luka says.
He took the necklace out of the box, putting it around his neck. The color blended quite well into his natural style choice as well as the fact that he was a musician wearing a songbird around his neck. Part of him wanted to ask the wolf hero if that was part of why he had chosen this particular miraculous for him. But he shrugged it off as a coincidence.
"All you have to say is 'Meloetta, let's rock,' and you will transform," the kwami explained. "To de-transform, you say 'concert's over.' Your special power is activated by saying 'Harmonize."
Luka nodded at the kwami.
"You ready to be a hero," Wolf asked.
"I'd do anything for my friends and family," Luka says. "Meloetta, let's rock."
"At least my weapon isn't a children's toy," Beautifly shot at Ladybug.
"Yours is nothing more than an oversized daisy," Ladybug countered.
The two of them were back-to-back fighting off the chains while constantly trading insults back and forth. It also seemed that because of the two's constant fighting with each other, Captain Hardrock had basically forgotten about Cat Noir altogether. He was just watching from the crow's nest and also scanning the ship with his eyes to see where the akumatized object could be.
White Wolf soon landed next to him.
"And Ladybug calls the two of us annoying," he raised his eyebrow at the cat hero.
"I don't even pretend to know anything about girls," Cat Noir put his hands up in defeat.
"Good, because I know a few girls back home that would skin you alive if you tried to ever say that you were a girl expert," Wolf chuckled.
"Even with that little bit of information now permanently etched into my brain, I still would want to visit Greece someday," Cat Noir snickers.
"Not like we'd ever deny the help against the myth spirits," Wolf commented.
"So, was Beautifly right when she guessed that you were getting help," Cat Noir asked.
"When is she ever wrong," Wolf smirked.
Another flying hero then came out of nowhere, even if White Wolf did know where he came from. Moving so fast that he was basically a blur, he used his weapon to slice his way through all the chains until there were none left.
"What in the world," Ladybug was shocked.
"I should have known that Wolf was going to chose that miraculous," Beautifly grinned.
"What," Ladybug gasped.
The new hero finally stopped, and everyone was able to get a good look at him. He was in a silver jean vest with matching jeans. He was now also had a turquoise t-shirt with darker silver boots. On his hands were turquoise fingerless gloves. His hair was the same black with blue streaks. And to the shock of Ladybug and Cat Noir, he also had angel-like bird wings that were also silver. The bluebird necklace was still around his neck, matching the bird's eye-like mask over his eyes.
In his hand was an ax-like weapon that also resembled a hybrid of a guitar and a lyre.
"Hope I am not late to the party," the new hero comments.
"You're right on time," Wolf smirks.
"Who are you," Ladybug did not like another miraculous being out and about, as when she recruited Alya to be Rena Rouge was risky enough.
"You can call me... Silver Siren," the newly named hero smiled softly.
"Finally, another hero with wings," Beautifly giggles. "I was getting lonely up in the air all by myself."
"Happy to be of assistance to you, Beautifly," Silver Siren smiles at her.
"Guys, we may need to speed this up," Cat Noir shows his ring as it blinked to show he had three minutes left.
"Gottcha," Beautifly gives him a thumbs up.
"Luka said that the akuma is most likely in the compass," Wolf says.
"Once you freeze it, Beautifly and I can destroy it," Cat Noir said.
For once, Ladybug had to play catch-up as the other four heroes went back to battle Captian Hardrock. The akuma did not look happy that another hero had joined the fight.
"Another pest in the sky," she snarled. "Get them, Liberty."
Chains shot at the team from all angles.
"Nature's Heart," Beautifly called upon her power, throwing her flower up.
The gem on her razor flower released a blossom that came down with the weapon.
"Amaryllis," Wolf immediately figured out. "I always thought that was a beautiful flower."
"I know exactly what this flower does," Beautifly said.
Holding up the flower, it released a number of petal missiles. Each petal exploded on contact with the chains, destroying them. The move almost looked like a combo of the draco meteor and pin missile moves from Pokemon.
"My chains too easy for you," Captain Hardrock yelled. "Then I think it is time for you land-loving pests to face the music."
"Land-loving," Cat Noir raised an eyebrow. "She does know that two of us don't even touch the ground, right?"
"Akumas, big on destruction and not so much on logic," Beautifly says.
The ship rumbled as its sound cannons aimed at the five of them. White Wolf, in particular, did not want to have to hear that loud music again.
"Hit it, Silver Siren," he called out to the new hero.
"I'm on it," he responded. "Harmonize."
He strung his guitar ax, blue energy flowing from the strings to his throat. His eyes glowed as he started to open his mouth.
"Cover your ears," Wolf warned everyone.
Just as the heroes covered their ears, Silver Siren let out a loud scream as the akumatized ship sent out its own sonic blasts. Silver Sirens scream came out as powerful sonic waves similar to the Black Canary's canary cry. Only his seemed slightly more powerful and the sound waves were a bright blue color.
The two sound attacks met in the air, a loud BOOM resulting from the collision. It blew their hair and loose pieces of clothing back a little at the wind blast that also resulted from the collision.
White Wolf and Beautifly uncovered their ears as both sides died down their attacks. They had to move quickly.
"Winter's Touch," Wolf quickly called.
His hands started to pour out an icy mist with a slight blueish color to it. The wolf hero then jumped to where he was sure that the compass was on the ship.
"Stay away from my compass," Captain Hardrock yelled.
But with one touch, the piece of equipment was frozen into ice. With a quick jump back, he let Beautifly throw her razor flower at the compass. The weapon smashed right through the frozen compass as easily as it would be to shatter glass.
"Gotta love this thing," Beautifly smiles at her weapon.
A black butterfly soon flapped its way out of the rubble. That was when Ladybug stepped forward.
"No more evil-doing for you, little akuma," she said, opening her yo-yo. "Time to de-evilize."
She caught the corrupted insect.
"Bye, bye, little butterfly," Ladybug released the now white insect.
"That thing is definitely a moth," Beautifly comments.
Cat Noir snickered at the comment while White Wolf simply rolls his eyes playfully. Silver Siren smiled but Ladybug looked annoyed.
"She does seem like the perfect person to know a butterfly from a moth," Cat Noir joined in Beautifly's fun.
"You two give me headaches," Wolf said.
"You know you love us," Cat Noir winks in a flirty way.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Wolf waved him off, making him and Beautifly snicker. "You did great out there, Silver Siren."
"You think so," the new hero asks. "I was a bit worried about using my power against those cannons."
"If I didn't think you could help, I wouldn't have given you the miraculous," Wolf smiles at him.
All of the heroes but Ladybug all started to beep as their miraculouses flashed. Cat Noir had a minute left as his ring lost another piece of the paw. One of the wings on Beautifly's bracelet went black. A feather on Silver Siren's bird necklace went from blue to white. One of the wolf's teeth on White Wolf's medallion went black.
"You can handle the clean-up, Bug," Beautifly says. "We all have to go. Secret identities and all that jazz."
"No one likes smooth jazz, Fly," Wolf said, but then all of them separated.

Every night, without fail, the Goddess of the Moon used to light up the night skies, turning every end of the day into a feat of joy and merriment with just her appearance as she danced through the skies, no chariot of her own, just her and her two glass slippers. The nocturnal hours that she lit were precious and safe, completely and utterly free of the fear of the dark.
It’s not like that anymore. Sometimes she is able to grace the world with the whole of her dance, other times she is shrouded in darkness. Worst of all are the nights when she’s not there at all.
Ever since the Goddess of the Moon was forced to wed the God of the Dark, she had been unable to dance like she had in the more innocent days of yore. The gentle, restful night had been transformed due to their union as with his occurrence within the world had caused a new, dreadful fear to become known to the world. Thus cementing the God of the Dark as having a reputation for being the stealer of one of the two most precious lights that resided within the heavens.
The moon had been taken from her twin, the sun, her elder brother.
Ephraim, the older twin, the literal golden boy, was the emissary of the sun. Commanding a golden chariot pulled by golden horses, he lit up the day with his fierce warmth and light, bringing energy to all lit by it. From the people to the animals to the plants. Each and every day, over the course of several hours, Ephraim and his horses would cause the sun to arc over the world. He would leave a blaze in his wake regardless of which season it was but that is what made him and his chariot, the sun, so admirable.
Meanwhile, at night, Eirika would take to the skies in her brother’s place. She had no chariot, only her two glass slippers but her dance was elegant and illuminating. Her dance would lull children to sleep and her rapier would allow for light to gleam off it, revealing safe paths for weary travellers to follow. Where her brother blazed, she was a dew or a frost. Soft and forgiving, soothing, healing.
Both the sun and the moon had their fair share of followers and devotees.
But Eirika had a devout follower like none other. A man by the name of Valter who had been praying to her since he was a child. It was a childhood interaction between him and the Goddess of the Moon that had caused him to become utterly obsessed with her.
He recalled that fateful night with brilliant clarity, when the Goddess of the Moon had come down from the heavens and presented himself to her in the flesh and nectar.
Beaten. Starved. Abused. Just a sampling of what Valter endured as the bastard child of a noblewoman and a rapist. And like many others, the night was the only reprieve from the scrutiny and assault that he faced from the people around him meant to be his family or carers.
He escaped outside, into the cool and into the fireflies that lingered near the pond at the rear of the orchard. Far, far away from the house with the little, battered cot that he had to call a bed. He looked up into the sky, through the treetops and the stars, and saw her. The most beautiful woman a child could ever conceive of: he saw the moon and his eyes filled upon that visage and with tears, too.
He prayed. He begged. He worshipped in the blinding, holy light of the moon with no temple or ritual. Just his brutal feelings and brutalised body. He laid down his body and soul for this and for that, the Goddess of the Moon stepped down from the heavens and appeared before him.
She caressed this child’s bruised face and cradled him, she ran her fingers through his hair and untangled the knots. Valter wept in her arms and so, Eirika gave him a blessing that he would take to his grave: she kissed his forehead and thus, a seal was placed upon him. The mark of the full moon. So long as he was faithful to her, no harm would befall him all the same as any other beneath Eirika’s moon.
Then, once Eirika felt that she had consoled this child, she disappeared into his arms. A cavalcade of moonlit glitter, silvery and blue, and returned to her eternal dance in the night sky. Every twirl of her body, every kick of her long legs, every flick of her hand, another movement of the moon made as it had its own arc over the Earth.
With the blessing of the Moon Goddess protecting him, his parents never raised a hand against him and he realised something. He was not weak anymore. He was not their prey. And so, empowered by the seal upon his forehead, Valter found his hierophilic purpose in life. Looking up at the indigo skies, he watched, entranced by the moonlight, by the goddess herself. Every night, he watched. He prayed.
Admiration and prayer gave way to obsession in the mind of young Valter as Eirika never visited him again, no matter how he pleaded and begged for her to reappear before him. And so, hopes and wishes, no matter how suffocated with his twisted affection, gave way to actions. He would do whatever it took for Eirika to notice him once more amongst all her mortal followers. Whatever it takes.
Eventually, Eirika did notice Valter once more. He became all consuming to her attention, sickening her to her very core.
He had grown into a man, a man like a wyvern. Tall, bulky, and sneering all the same as that heinous, fanged reptile. His prayers had turned to rallying cries of orchestrated tragedy. Each struck reverberating through the goddess whom he showed his devotion to in frigid cold blood. Until she had to cry out to no one at all as the gods had no higher power they could truly turn to.
He was slaughtering innocents, those whom he deemed as unworthy followers of her and anyone else who had the misfortune of crossing his path like a black cat.  Every kill, a prayer and as they were prayers, Eirika felt each and everyone of them, even so far flung as into the skies and heavens. Every plunge of his spear against his so-called offerings was felt by Eirika as deep as the pain could possibly go and further still.
She felt the eviscerations that he put his victims through, the way he disembowled and revelled in the resulting viscera, how he desecrated what little was left. Every wound, every puncture. Though Eirika did not spill with a single drop of blood, she felt it as though it were a waterfall. The phantom penetrations left her on her knees as she could only grit her white teeth through it at all, screaming, sobbing, body and soul violated with his weapon of choice. His lunatic devotion.
To the envy of the gods of war and the like, Valter was single handedly causing a disbalance in nature and the aether. All in adoration of Eirika and for it, Eirika would be the one punished by her fellow gods and goddesses. Not even her brother the sun could protect her as Lyon, the emissary of death, made his way to the moon, a tranquil fury at Eirika’s perceived negligence.
He visited Eirika in the wayside of twilight, before her nightly dance would begin and he found her on her sublime abode, of marble and pure white rock, retching, holding herself as she felt more - dozens - killed in her name. Lyon knelt beside her.
“Hark, my friend,” he told her, stroking her shoulder, an embodiment of light such as Eirika was not meant for such darkness, “but you must have courage and take to even your own follower to cease his atrocities. My domain is overflowing with souls who were not meant to be cut down by death just yet, it is disruptive, please understand, dear.”
“I understand, Lyon, I will find a way to cease this madness.” Eirika said, sucking in a breath to sound braver than she was.
“Excellent.” Lyon agreed and in a smog of shadow and dust, Eirika was left alone.
She gazed out across the sky and she felt so, so small before the might of humankind and even all the universe. She had never felt that way before. She was a goddess, after all. So, she found herself seeking the counsel of someone whom she could always trust: her twin brother.
Time was of the essence but Ephraim appeared on her cross path eventually. She hailed out to him and he halted his horses. They whinnied and whined but with Ephraim’s expert command, they stopped and he dismounted from behind the guard of his chariot.
“Unexpected to see you this soon, sister.” Ephraim greeted her.
“I need a little of your help.” Eirika confessed, fidgeting. “I have never had a follower kill in my name, let alone slaughter. I have been told to end him but I do not believe myself to be up to the task alone.”
Ephraim stroked his chin thoughtfully, “I am informed of the situation and believe it is yours and yours alone, little sister.”
“I have never taken up arms against anyone,” Eirika said, “I am not like you brother. I am not a warrior. I am a lover, not a fighter.”
“Then perhaps you ought to use that to your advantage. Fight with words, rather than weapons.” Ephraim said then sighed. “With that, I must dismiss you. As you cannot prolong the night, neither can I prolong the day.”
“I understand, rest well later, Ephraim.” Eirika told him.
She watched as he and his horses left her. She watched the sparks and embers in his trail, they were beautiful but in the right temperature, could ignite the very crops that he was meant to rear. Eirika wondered if the indulgent blessing she had given away so recklessly a few years ago was the same. Her heart wrenched and sure enough, the killing prayers had begun again and her offerings were in the form of heads cleaved from necks rather than trimmed hollyhocks or similar.
It brought her to her knees with indecision and powerlessness. Eirika, a goddess, was left snivelling and sobbing in the wake of the murder in her name. She hadn’t a faintest clue how gods of war and death endured or if it felt different to them.
Desiring nothing more than to at least end her own suffering, let alone the grief of the loved ones of those who had been killed in her name, Eirika found her courage. She would find her own way to fight against this follower of hers. Eirika took a deep, heaving breath and her gloved fists strengthened. She tried to lift herself up but she was struck once more by the sensation of a piercing lance but she endured the pain as innocents were killed in her name. She vanished from the edge of the world where she had met her brother.
Reappearing in a scourged field, Eirika stood, uncertain and she gazed out past the fallen, slaughtered bodies. This may have been a village once and it was as though war had razed it but she only saw the silhouette of one man and his lance in his hand. The one man who had caused this tragedy and his weapon of choice.
Valter twitched. He could sense a cool change in the dusk. His movements were unnatural as he lumbered around, enthralled, that he appeared to be in the presence of someone more than loyalty. Eirika steeled herself. His gaunt face split into a manic grin. A lust for life, a lust for blood, and worst of all: a lust for her, Eirika sensed from it.
“Eirika, my goddess, you recall me?” he asked as he began to amble forward, tired by his slaughter, using his lance as a cane to hobble with, and yet enthused by Eirika’s reappearance before her.
In front of her, he laid down his weapon, overjoyed that his prayers had finally been heard, it seemed. He took her hand and smothered her knuckles with kisses. Eirika remained akin to marble, just a statue, glaring yet neutral. Valter’s passion disgusted her but what really made Eirika tremble was the realisation that he still bore her blessing upon his forehead. It shone like a beacon, completely unmarred from the passage of time, unmarred by the splatter of blood, completely unlike the rest of his face.
“Yes, I remember you, the child that I assisted.” Eirika replied gravely.
Valter lifted his head and Eirika saw a jaundice to his eyes, they were wide, “I was worried my prayers were eluding you, I am nothing but devoted to you, my goddess, your attention is all that I desire.”
“They have been heard, Valter,” Eirika said, firm, “and they must stop.”
Her proclamation shocked Valter to stone. He blinked. He behaved as though he could not fathom her words.
“This killing in my name must stop.” Eirika continued, her voice getting louder now.
Both of them were distraught but somehow, Valter was more so. He gawked, on the brink of anger. His one-sided love betrayed.
“I will do anything to bring a stop to your murder.” Eirika told him.
“Anything?” Valter echoed and disbelief gave way upon his rugged face to something conniving. It made Eirika’s skin crawl.
“Yes, anything, so long as it is within the boundaries of my domain.” Eirika replied, sheepish, already regretting her words but she hoped that so long as his request was per her own magic, then she would be true to her own word yet she dreaded Valter’s reply.
He took a moment to peruse his words and gather what his anything would be but his teeth glinted, “I have my request.”
“Let’s hear it.” Eirika replied, bravely, keeping her chin up even though she dreaded what was about to come from Valter’s mouth.
“I want power.” Valter said. “Power of the gods.”
“I must deny that, I can give you no such thing.” Eirika replied and she tried to step away from Valter but he grabbed her hand.
Eirika’s heart could have jumped from her chest but instead, it sank. Valter came down to his knee, still holding her hand and Eirika realised what he was asking for her.
“I could share in your power, as your husband.” Valter said. “Have me as your mortal lover…”
“But make you a god.” Eirika finished his sentence for him.
He was perversely delighted, clearly thinking it a good omen of her marriage for her to do that. Eirika swallowed a lump in her chest and her expression remained firm. Brave. She took a breath.
“For a dowry, you will receive power over the dark, the home of the night sky and moon, but for the engagement, you will relinquish your killing. Those are our vows.” Eirika scowled.
“As you wish,” Valter replied, his voice a sick caress, “my love.”
Valter kissed Eirika’s hand once more. Just once. And there was a swell of power. The transfer of part of Eirika’s domain into another. She kept herself strong through it as she felt part of her power diminish and was eaten up by Valter.
“You are now Valter, God of the Dark.” Eirika christened him and she could feel a shift in the balance of nature and aether but she didn’t think she was going to be scolded for it.
This shift recontextualised itself and Eirika could feel the new presence of the dark. Not as a time of rest and solace, but as something that could have horrible dangers lurking in. An old fear, from before her time and birth as a goddess, revived and revitalised because of the birth of the new god before her, at her feet.
“Come, Valter, we must make haste. The night must begin, it must go on.” Eirika told him, hurried him.
Valter slowly got up and smiled eerily, “With pleasure.” he replied.
Though she wanted to be let go, Eirika instead took Valter’s hand. To turn the moon, to blanket the world in darkness and sleep, soothed by the gentle light of the moon… unfortunately he now had a place in this as a newlywed dance, no matter how unnerving.
Valter was sharply keen to assist. His hand was large against Eirika’s and despite being defined by her dualism with her brother, she had never danced with a partner before. His hands were stony and so were his movements, he was a warrior, not a dancer, Eirika quickly realised.
He trod on her toes, cracking the glass slippers her feet were adorned with but he was an eager partner, if anything else. Eager but inadequate, he took charge. They danced but it was not the dance that Eirika, or the world, had once known so effortlessly, so innately. As such, the moon was partially enshrouded in a shadow that had never been there before.
Thus, for the first time in all the history so far of creation, earthly and heavenly, the moon began to wane. A shade of darkness, her possessive husband, hid the moon’s face as she tried to dance as usual, beginning a new lunar cycle the world had not seen before but would come to know ever after.

from x
“Isaac.” Eva’s hands wrapped around his as he closed the small bottle of nail polish remover. “How did I get out? What happened to Jackson?”
Isaac lifted his hands so that he could press light kisses to her fingers as he considered his words. When he’d made up his mind, he let their hands untangle so that he could set the bottle on the bedside table with a sigh. “He got away.”
As much as he wanted to leave it at that, Eva had asked for everything so, he adjusted his shoulders and gave her his best attempt at an unemotional reporting of fact. “I carried you back to the shuttle. CAT6 had wrecked the communications and control panels. Luca really stepped up to the plate. He got us out of there before he-” Isaac cleared his throat, squashing down his rising emotion. At multiple points, he had been sure that he would lose them both.
“Ben,” was all he said for a long moment before he spoke again. “Ben had Ryan talk him through manual flight.” He wasn’t ready to process the failure he felt at his absolute inability to step away from Eva Novakov, even when his orders demanded it. But he was practical enough to be grateful that the Phoenix’s wheel of talents included a knack for following careful instructions under immense pressure.
He let a hand cup her cheek and couldn’t help his smile when she nuzzled her face against his palm. “Justicar Keros reached out to check on you while you were sleeping.” His expression softened even more as he watched a range of emotion play out over Eva’s tired face. Dr. Lyons had been kind enough to remove the fury’s dark warpaint while she was sleeping and the smudges that were left were nothing that a long shower couldn’t wash away.
“She chased him all the way to atmo but he had backup waiting. She lost him in the chaos. So he definitely made it off planet.” Isaac sighed, as grateful as he was disappointed. “I’m glad she was there for you.”
“Me too.” Eva fidgeted with the empty wrapper of her third nutrient bar.
“She also sent a package.”
Eva perked up at the twinkle of mischief in his voice. She followed his nod to the far corner of his spacious quarters and couldn’t help the burst of twinkling laughter. A large flower box with a bright red bow sat on top of a wooden shipping crate with a handwritten note.
-
Isaac’s long fingers worked to undo the tight braid in Eva’s hair underneath the warm shower’s stream and he made sure to burn the image of her golden locks spreading out like a wet curtain around her lean shoulders. He tried to angle his erection away from her as he reached to grab her sweet floral shampoo from a wall shelf.
“Eva.” His body shuddered at the heat of her when she moaned and arched her back to roll against him with his sudsy fingers scrubbing careful circles against her scalp. His hips jerked into her, and he watched his erection disappear between the gap in her thighs, gliding against the edge of her smooth folds as her hips rolled. He shuddered again when he made himself jerk back and saw the glint of shining wetness across his swollen head.
“I missed you.” She straightened only to back against him and Isaac couldn’t help the way his body curled around her, shamelessly. The lather from her shampoo trailed across his chest as they adjusted against each other.
He trailed hungry kisses down her neck and across the top of one shoulder and tried to keep his hips from grinding into her like an animal. “I missed you, baby.” His voice was quiet and strained with effort, but his arms wrapped fully around her to pull her closer. “For a moment, I thought I lost you,” he muttered against her wet skin and tried to ignore the way his dick throbbed, pressed tight between them.
Eva tapped his bicep so that he would loosen his grip enough for her to turn around in his arms. Her small hands traced his face before she stretched to kiss him. He was proud of his self-control when her lips softened and fell away. She curled her head against his chest, and he backed them both closer to the water so that it could run over her back and shoulders while they rested.
He wet his fingers to smooth them over the line of suds near her face, washing the foamy bubbles away from her ears, and listened to her breathing underneath the steady water’s streaming. “Three hour shower, right?” His voice projected his smile. “One-half hour down, two and one half more to go.” He adjusted his grip, tightening his arms around her small frame and hugging her against his chest as she sighed happily.
