Red
✧ Pairing: Hunter x human!reader ✧
✧ Content/warnings: Soulmate AU, takes place during season 3, use of the word ‘damn’ once, the title is bland and I’m sorry, Hunter and the reader are both dorks, first post on here!! ✧
Tumblr media
The “rules” for soulmates, as it were, were pretty straightforward. You see everything in the color of your soulmates eyes. Once you make eye contact with them you can see in full, proper colors. Seems simple enough, doesn’t it? Well, not for you, it wasn’t.
You, for the past sixteen or so years of your life, had been seeing nothing but red. Different shades, thank god, but red nonetheless. And to be frank, you were getting pretty damn fed up with it. The thing is that no one naturally has red eyes. And you would know; you’ve googled it maybe a thousand times already.
So you were fairly certain you didn’t have a soulmate, and this was all some cruel joke from the universe. But life marches on, so there’s no time to dwell on that, is there?
───── ───── ───── ─────
Another day at Gravesfield’s high school, bland as ever. At least until you caught a glance at your friend Luz. Rather, former friend. She’d been acting weird ever since she came back from that ‘reality check’ camp. And not standard Luz weird, no— she’d been avoiding you since then. Acting like she didn’t know you at all whenever you approached her, not to mention her sudden lack of interest in anything she used to like. The Good Witch Azura books, most notably.
So, needless to say, you were a bit surprised at her new look. Curly hair, a new scar over her eyebrow, and a general air of seasonal depression about her. Even though your recent interactions hadn’t gone so smoothly, you couldn’t help but ask. You were still allowed to care about her.
“Luz?” You called out from down the school hallway. She turned her head in your direction, and you could practically see the stars in her eyes when she saw you. She ran towards you, almost tackling you in a hug. Stumbling backwards, you hesitantly returned the gesture. “Good to see you too?” You awkwardly pat her back, unsure of what to do at the moment.
“Y/N, I am so glad to see you! Oh, you have no idea how much I’ve missed you.” She backed away and wiped a small tear from her eye.
“We saw each other yesterday, though?” You chuckled, still perplexed by this whole situation. “Seriously, what’s going on? You’re kinda acting like you just came back from war right now.” Her face fell slightly, but her smile quickly returned.
“Meet me at my house once school’s done, ok? I have… a lot to tell you.” You nodded, and watched her just walk away casually after that interaction.
“Cool. Good talk, I guess?”
───── ───── ───── ─────
“So, if I’m following,” You began, now in the Noceda family’s living room. “You didn’t go to summer camp, but instead spent several months in a fantasy world, and the Luz I’ve been interacting with is actually a shape-shifting basilisk.” You pointed to Vee, who nodded shyly. “And in this fantasy world you became a witch, made a bunch of new friends, and got a girlfriend.” You left out the details involving Belos and the Collector, deciding that you didn’t need to recap whatever nonsense was going on there.
“Yeah, actually. You’re handling this surprisingly well.” Luz noted.
“I think I’m still in shock, to be honest.” You laugh a bit in disbelief. You couldn’t begin to comprehend what she’d been through during those months, and you kind of didn’t want to. “So, more importantly, do I get to meet these new people?” You questioned, and her face brightened.
“Of course! They’re upstairs, so let me go get them and I’ll be right back.” You waited downstairs with Vee, exchanging basic small talk. She apologized for the whole ‘impersonating one of your few friends’ thing, which was nice of her. Eventually Luz came back, new friends and girlfriend following behind her.
“Alright! Everyone this is Y/N.” You gave a polite wave, quickly scanning over the group. “Y/N, this is Willow, Gus, Amity, and Hunter.” You got a proper look at all of them as she said their names, your eyes landing on the blond last. Wait a minute, blond?!
As it would turn out, when you made eye contact with Hunter you could suddenly see a lot more colors. He clearly noticed this as well, as a light blush was present on his cheeks and ears. You could feel some heat rise to your own face as well.
“Y/N, is everything okay?” Luz asked, noticing your stunned silence.
“I, uh…” you stumbled over your words like an idiot, still staring at him. Saving what little dignity you had left, your phone dinged from your pocket. Checking the notification, you gave an awkward smile and held it up to the group. “Oh! You know what, that’s my dad. He probably wants me home for dinner!” You put your phone back in your pocket, and began approaching the door. “I’ll see you guys later, okay, bye!”
You got the words out as quickly as you could, and bolted as soon as the door was open. You ran back to your house, face still flushed from embarrassment and being generally flustered, leaving a room full of witches (and one human) awfully confused.
“Hunter, what was that about?” Willow asked, as he still stared at the spot where you once were.
“Um- good question.”
───── ───── ───── ─────
Later that day, Hunter knocked on the door to Luz’s bedroom.
“Come in.” She said idly, distracted by whatever she had been playing on her Switch. He entered her room, hands anxiously fidgeting at his sides. There wasn’t a particularly easy way to say this, so he just bit the bullet.
“So, you know the whole thing with your soulmate, and how you’ll only see in their eye color until you make eye contact?”
“Yeah?” She encouraged, curiosity evident in her tone.
“Well, it’s possible that maybe, perhaps, Y/Nismysoulmate.”
“What?!” She immediately paused her game, and whipped around to face him. “Really?! Tell me everything!” She sat on the ground and patted the spot next to her, encouraging him to sit down. He did so, face red from having to explain the whole ordeal.
“There’s nothing to tell! I used to only see e/c, I looked at them, now I can see every color, and they— I always thought your hair was black, by the way— and they just ran away!” As Luz sat and processed this information, Hunter continued thinking out loud. “Did they not like me or something? Is it because I’m from the Boiling Isles?” He questioned, grabbing the pointed tips of his ears. Cutting his rambling short, Luz spoke up.
“No, I don’t think so. They were always interested in fantasy like I was. Maybe they were just a bit overwhelmed?” She suggested. He sighed.
“I guess that could have been it.” He said, though the anxiety was still clear on his face.
“Hey, how about I try to get them to come over this weekend? You guys can talk about it then.” He nodded, and watched her grab her phone to message you. Titan, he hoped she was right about this.
───── ───── ───── ─────
A few days had gone by since the whole incident with Hunter. You had been avoiding him since then, though you honestly weren’t sure why. If you had to, though, you’d say it was probably out of shock. I mean, you were convinced you didn’t have a soulmate for years. And now this incredibly good-looking boy comes in from another realm, and he’s supposedly perfect for you? It’s absurd!
Though it was also worry. How would a relationship between the two of you even work out? He’d have to go home eventually, and you probably couldn’t come with him. Maybe he wouldn’t even like you after the way you left the other day, and he’d reject you before you even had a chance. That’d put a quick and easy end to all this.
You’d been really sick of the color red these past couple days. You usually were, but now it was for an entirely different reason.
Though you couldn’t avoid your problems forever, despite your best efforts. Luz had invited you over for a board game night to celebrate the two of you reuniting. And, well… who were you to say no?
───── ───── ───── ─────
The day finally came, and it had been going relatively well so far. No one else seemed to know what had happened or why you left that first time you came over. Though you and Hunter had been carefully dancing around each other the whole time. It seemed neither of you were equipped to talk about your feelings at the moment. But were you really ever?
Eventually you saw him slip out the front door. With a sigh, you decided to finally face the problem. No use in stalling any more than you already have. After telling Luz that you were going outside for a moment, you stepped out and saw Hunter sitting on the steps leading to the front door. He turned around at the noise, and immediately turned back the other way when he saw it was you. Wordlessly, you sat down next to him. After a moment, he finally broke the silence.
“You look really nice.” You glanced at him, and saw the pink dusting his face. You smiled at the way his blush would spill out onto his ears.
“Thanks, but I’m not really wearing anything special.”
“I know,” He continued, finally meeting your eyes. “I just mean, like- you look nice. You’re really cute.”
“Oh.” You said, quite simply, now blushing a bit as well. You looked at the ground beneath you, pondering how exactly to go about this. “So, this whole ‘soulmate’ thing, huh?”
“Yeah.” Was all he managed. His hands toyed with his pants, still a bit nervous about this whole ordeal. Unable to find the words he wanted, Hunter just looked out at the surrounding neighborhood for a bit. Eventually, though, he said the one thing that was on his mind at the moment. “So… what do we do now?”
“Well, if I may suggest something scandalous?” His blush deepened at your words, but quickly faded as he watched you intertwine your hand with his own.
“Wow, and we’re not even married yet.” He joked. You put your free hand up defensively.
“I know, I know! What can I say, I like to live on the edge.” He laughed, and you silently basked in the sound. You set your eyes on the sky above you, a handful of stars already visible in the late evening’s light. Maybe red isn’t half bad after all.

Hiiii!
May I request a Hunter x middle child! Blight! Reader headcannons?
Summary: The reader is a Blight, and also the middle child who is often forgot about and ignored by both the Blights and everybody else. They’re not as famous as the Blight Twins or Amity, and they spend most of their time inventing abominations to TRY and impress their parents
Reader also has a similar personality to ROTTMNT Don, but I’m not sure if you’ve ever watched it so you can just ignore this bit if you haven’t :)
Tumblr media
A/n: The way this is formatted seems like it was for a one-shot request, but you said headcannons. I'm sorry if this isn't what you wanted and I'll redo it if so. Also, I've never seen any tmnt things so sorry about that.
-Bro he GETS you.
-The feeling of your "guardian" (If you can even call them that) not paying attention to you. So thanks to Belos's, Odaila's (and Alador's to a lesser extent) "A+ parenting." Y'all both have parental issues.
-Hunter was never the best at comforting but if you are upset with your family problems he'll do what he would want people to do when he's upset. Which doesn't always work but he tries.
-Amity is a pretty good sibling she's not the best mainly when she was mean (Her green hair era.) But bro Hunter hates her even if she's trying her best.
-When Ecilpse Lake happens he is like 50 times meaner. Like dude even though she's not trying to upset you or anything, Hunter is pissed off because of any time she made you even slightly sad.
-When he learns you invent stuff he BEGS you to show him.
-Like even if you agree the first time he asks he counties to ask and you are like "Hunter I'm going to show you-"
-Also he complements them so much! He loves inventions of any kind, magic-based or not, he likes to learn how they work.
-If you tell him he is so invested. Like you can be talking for hours and he is fully listening the entire time.
The dude is so in love with you-

Footsteps amplified by the stone in the walls echoed as booms throughout the palace hallway. Hurriedly, you followed along behind until the door to one of the castle’s many antechambers was haphazardly thrown open. Within moments, the two of you had entered, and the door was again shut.
A poignant silence deafened the room, and while you acknowledged the urge to break it, something within cautioned you against it. Your companion, twitching and trembling, had taken to pacing the cramped area. Every five steps, he’d stop, muttering to himself, his ashy blond hair bouncing as he jerked his body from side to side, as if arguing with invisible foes.
Although you remained closer to the doorway than was probably necessary, a familiar sense of tiredness, coupled with annoyance, worked its way up within you. Time again, your companion had these episodes, and each time, they seemed to grow more visceral, more impassioned. It was as though something deep within had been attempting to claw itself free, and with every episode, every slight, whatever it was writhed that much closer to the surface.
It was the fifth time this month, and the month wasn’t even halfway through. A whisper, and your companion’s hand lunged from his side. Barely a second later, an audible zap sent a metallic cylindrical object flying from its perch atop a stack of nearby crates and soaring across the room.
The object was a yardarm, a horizontal component to attend one of the many flags of royal heraldry that were scattered across the room. The polished yardarm did little damage to the crates into which it smashed, but the clicking as the spearhead caromed from surface to surface drowned out any opportunity for interruption.
"Belos doesn't trust me! He thinks I'm nothing but a kid…” A huff escaped, scarcely audible as the spearhead made its final bounces. “He thinks I’m not good enough to do such an important job, and you know what? What if he’s right? What if I’m not, and this was my only chance? If I could have gathered some stupid recruits and brought them, then he’d have to take me seriously! Well, good luck with that now...” He scoffed, sweat forming on his brow.
You stood there, motionless, eyes cast over his sunken and shaking form. You knew he’d be upset at the failure to complete the mission but hadn't forseen it hitting him this hard. His hands twisted, and his eyes seemed to dart around the room, almost as if expecting Emperor Belos to come lurking behind any of the assorted tapestries.
“Failure,” the word haunted him, a mantra whispered in memory of his every mistake. “Why did I think volunteering for another mission would be a good idea? Nice one, Hunter! You’re a true professional. Making the family proud, huh?” He'd flung his hands up into the air in a dramatic gesture.
The rhetorical questioning was something you’d grown accustomed to, for better or worse. Once he started down that line of questioning, though, there was nowhere positive things could go.
You spoke softly, neither with condescension nor timorousness. “Hey. You are not a failure. Belos let you take on the mission, right?” You paused for a moment, allowing his breathing to slow before you continued. “He didn’t want that little demon he has following him, not any of those punk-head mages, either. And he didn’t say you were off the job, despite everything. You know what that means?”
He had stopped with his own line of questioning, and while his head remained tilted down at the stone floor, you could tell his nervous movements had lessened. You approached, not quite to the point of standing above him, but close enough to allow no mishearing of your words.
All he needed was a little nudge, and he’d be pulled away from those nasty thoughts eating away at him.
“It means the mission is still on.” Your fists clutched the ends of your gloves, drawn up to your chest, and rocked to and fro. “Maybe you just need a little help? I’m already off duty for the day, so I'll help you. We’ll go headhunting together, bag some recruits, and show all those dopey mages how wrong they were! What do you say, friend?”
In one swift motion, his eyes lifted from the ground and widened. The shadow of happiness crept onto his face and, beside it, a hint of worry about how short it might last.
He looked at you like a boy who was seeing the dawn. In his rose-coloured gaze was relief at having seen it after questioning for so long whether he would.
Hunter pushed himself to his feet as a knight would upon receiving a quest from his liege, and he offered his hand. “Let's go.”
You offered a slight smile, adorned your mask, and set off behind Hunter. The mission wouldn’t be easy, but it would be worth it.
-------
It took more time than it should have to find Hexside, but once the two of you laid eyes on it, there was no mistaking it. The school was a distinguished landmark, separated from the Titan’s ribs surrounding it, with its dense foliage and rolling hills that seemed to swallow the place.
Still, you and Hunter could see various students and staff meandering across the grounds, and while you investigated the landscape, Hunter scanned the student body.
“They don’t know it yet, but they’ll love being in the Emperor’s Coven! We’ll sell them on sleeping in until 6 A.M., ditching their lame friends for better ones, and learning the best kind of magic there is… Rules and authority!”
You weren’t sure whether Hunter was talking to you, himself, or someone else, but same as before, you didn’t feel the need to try and take the wind from his sails. You’d be there to support, as you’d done before, win or lose.
“I’ll go in first since I’m supposed to lead the mission, okay? But you stay close by in the event we have to fight some of the other coven reps for the recruits. Those guys will do anything to see me fail, so be ready, okay?”
He wasn't dour like before, and his body had shifted to one of nervous twitches in the face of some uncertain future rather than ruminating on the difficulties of the past. His head held higher, and his eyes seemed to fill with that curious gleam again. You wondered briefly if he'd even noticed your staring, but before the question could be answered, you nodded.
Releasing a quick breath, the two of you set off for the grounds of the school. You’d need to change your clothes and stash your uniforms for the mission, and with a reminder of that to Hunter, a fast spell had ensured the two of you looked the part of regular, blissfully unaware, students rather than disciplined soldiers of the emperor.
With Hunter in tow, you wandered the grounds, occasionally socialising with students and other creatures you could only assume were faculty. No one seemed inclined to check your respective identities, and neither of you cared to overshare. If agents of the Coven Heads were present or any practitioners of wild magic, it wouldn't do to draw too much attention to yourselves.
After what felt like hours, the two of you emerged from one of the many pathways around the school into what appeared to be a courtyard. Bleachers formed a barrier on one side, and across from them, a stretch of wood formed another.
Despite being so close to the school, the dense vegetation managed to obscure vision from the courtyard in at least two directions, but parts of the main campus, jutting out above the bleachers, still seemed to cast a watchful eye upon the area.
Any activity here was purposely made to be seen by an audience.
Hunter redirected your attention with a quiet grunt back to the far side of the courtyard, where six of what you could only assume were students lined up in two teams of three. They adorned themselves with knee pads, exercise shorts, and various sports shoes.
One of the students, a three-eyed girl with violet-coloured hair, seemed to be the most animated of the group, boasting of her prowess in the game known as “grudgby” and hurling unflattering accusations at the students gathered opposite her.
Within seconds, the students were casting magic, shouting at one another, and flying across the courtyard, and at every opportunity, the velvet-haired girl continued to roar out insults.
Hunter scoffed at the brash display, keen to move on, but your snickering compelled him to turn and face you.
“And you weren’t like that to the conscripts and weekend warriors they had to bring down after we made it to the bottom of the mountain? Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten?” You offered a cheeky smile, and Hunter, mind aflush with memories, wrenched his head away. His cheeks had developed a tinge of red, and he’d instinctively reached for a mask that was no longer there.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about…” he stuttered, neck craned. “I—We… were gracious in victory. That’s what the emperor expected, and that’s what we did.”
“That’s what we did after you had the training supervisor tally up the scores four different times to repeat that our team had won… Handily.”
Hunter fell silent, the red on his face glowing brighter as his shoulders locked up again.
“If we kicked out everybody with a bad attitude, neither of us would have been selected for anything beyond cleaning duty.”
Hunter offered no response, mouth straight and flummoxed by your argument.
“Let’s give them a shot. If they’re all talk, we’ll move on, but if not, then maybe we’ve found some of our recruits. Plus, if you end up being right, I’ll let you say, ‘I told you so.’ Sound good?” You offered a soft smile, careful not to interrupt Hunter as he reclaimed his bearings. He didn’t like being bombarded with questions when he was flustered and didn’t care for swift, sudden moves either.
Hunter’s head slowly rose, and he bore a slight yet noticeable smile on his face. “All right. Let’s do it!” His shoulders relaxed with his next breath, but you could still see a touch of red on his face as you marched past him towards the courtyard.
Grudgby, as it turned out, was a mixture of a capture-the-flag game and a close quarters combat course. The rules were of limited interest to you, save for the opportunity embraced by seemingly every member of both teams to clobber one another with magic or their fists when an opponent came too close.
It wasn’t easy, certainly, and there was a clear possibility of injury, but the game was exciting. Hunter elected to watch from the first row of bleachers, but you found yourself knee-deep in a match, tasked with defence. When an opportunity came to guard against opponents, you fared well.
The soldiers of the Emperor’s Coven did not yield to their enemies.
-------
Another goal defended, and you’d lost track of time. Another point against your team prevented, and in the stupor that came with that train of through, you’d neglected to notice the velvet-haired girl, Boscha, charging you from another direction.
Her teammate had been decidedly less coordinated and inclined to deception, charging at you head-on, but Boscha was a different animal. As her teammate was flung back, Boscha advanced on your left flank, just outside your periphery. She surged toward the goal, unleashing a blast of magic powerful enough to send you plummeting into the grass.
Your vision went black for a moment, and your ears rang with a tumultuous melody. Something high-pitched sounded to command the field, and within moments, you could hear a frenzy of concerned questions. Your face had become buried in the grass from the fall, and you were unable to immediately answer.
Unbeknownst to you, Hunter had risen from the bleachers, determined to approach but had yet to sort through the crowd. His breath quickened to a subtle pant, and he hastened to view the scene for himself.
A member of your team, a neon green-haired girl named Amity, had crouched at your side. She gently wove her hands across your limbs, chest, and head, checking for open wounds and any lingering magical damage.
Amity leaned towards you and, upon turning your head, a gasp escaped her that she tried to stifle.
Hunter's trained ear caught the start of it. “What?” he asked, his voice rising as he turned to Amity. “What is it?”
Folding her hands on her lap, Amity sat up and kept her eyes down. “Nothing. They just had some dirt on their face.”
The slight pause after the word “just” caused Hunter to tighten his grip on the staff. He gritted his teeth, narrowed his eyes and struggled with his innate distrust of the situation. Relocating, his eyes locked onto your form as he maneuvered closer to you, but barely a second later, he pressed his lips into a straight line and stormed in her direction.
Amity widened her eyes and raised her arms when a gloved hand clutched her left shoulder, and a grunt flew out her mouth as she was shoved aside.
Hunter stood in her place and searched for the reason behind her surprise, nearly dropping his staff when he saw it.
The voices of friends, memories, nightmares swelled like the tolls of broken bells.
Despite this, Hunter could not rid himself of the thought that your wound mirrored his. Back when it was fresh and still stung like the point of a fire bee, it was dripping red. The magic blast had singed a streak of burnt skin across your jaw and cheek, just as the mystical vine had sliced a stripe up his flesh.
His scar began to itch, and Hunter reached out to scratch it when he realised he had been picking at it for the last minute.
The drop in his stomach brought a wave of cold sweat over his head. It was as if a rainstorm had developed and poured only on him, chilling his bones and drawing shuddering breaths from his lips.
Strips of yellow and red magic crackled at the end of his staff. He squeezed it until his hand shook and his knuckles turned white.
As soon as he spun towards Boscha, every Hexside student on his side of the court rushed to block his path. Multiple shouts of “Woah!” and “Easy!” spilt from the group as they formed a half-circle about him, many with their hands up high to deflect any far-reaching spells.
In the confusion, other students loafing nearby had arrived, some to help, and others to simply gawk. At least a dozen students had made their way onto the courtyard by that point, including another young witch identified as Luz.
Boscha, for her part, stood comfortable across the field, bragging to her entourage about scoring points and retelling the story of how she’d knocked the enemy team’s ‘newbie’ straight into the dirt.
You were lucid by this point and, though still somewhat slurred in speech, stable. That fact eluded Hunter, however, who struggled against Luz barely half a court away. You noticed that, amidst the students seeking to deny him his quarry, he’d shouldered and darted past as many as possible to bring himself closer to Boscha.
He was perhaps fifteen metres from her before Luz succeeded in halting his lunge forward. Hunter fought against Luz, placing a strenuous emphasis on every third word. “She does not get to do that and just walk away!”
Luz dug in her heels, pressing her weight into the staff. Though Hunter was almost certainly physically stronger than this witch, you could tell there was something about her that commanded his attention; it seemed as though they knew each other.
“No one is saying what she did is okay!”
A shout of fury burst out of Hunter as he shoved Luz back a step. “Then why are you defending her?”
“I'm not!” Luz relaxed her clenched teeth and softened her furrowed brows into a look of sympathy, her voice lowering alongside it. “I'm trying to stop you from doing something you'll regret.”
Hunter glowered at Boscha from across the court, his head down and his eyes looking up. “I won't regret it.”
He spared Luz a final glance before ripping his staff free of her and marching once more to you, his fury temporarily repressed whilst he had something else to swallow his attention.
“Hunter?” As he lifted you from the ground in silence, you pressed a hand to your cheek and winced at the burn. “Why is my face on fire?” you mumbled, to which Hunter offered a sullen glance.
He laid your arm across his back and shoulders. “Come on. I'm taking you home.” His eyes seemed far away with that remark, but his voice rang sincere.
With a nervous but hopeful smile, Gus, a friend of Luz’s, dashed forward. “Hey, it's just a little burn! Have someone from the Healing Coven take a look at it, and we can start round two.”
After ensuring you could stand on your own, Hunter whirled towards him and pointed a finger at the distant shape of Boscha. “I say we don't want to play with anyone who thinks this is okay!” His finger swung round to your wound.
Taking a breath, Willow, another friend of Luz, closed her eyes before reopening them with a frown. “You can leave if you want, Hunter, but it's their choice.” She extended a hand to you.
His face reddened at this.
Hunter clenched his fists at his side and looked between you and the group. “You agree with me, right?” There was a layer of desperation in his words that gave you pause.
It felt much more personal than it should have. Hunter had known more of these students than he had let on, and though the burn on your face continued to sting, your attention remained directed elsewhere. It hurt to know that Hunter hadn't been forthcoming about the environment into which you'd both entered, but you couldn't quite blame him for it.
Everything about this situation upset him, but if you spirited away with him, he'd spend the rest of the mission upset. As usual, he'd blame himself, and that wasn't the point of any of this.
Firmly, but not aggressively, you shook the hand of Willow, offering a slight nod in affirmation. “I don't see why I can't stick around for the end.”
Hunter uttered a slight grunt but voiced no further complaints, eyeing the contact until it broke.
You resolved that while you wouldn’t enter the second event, and would instead watch, you’d give Hunter a chance to collect himself and cool off. Pressuring him into conversation before he was ready wouldn’t help, and for the purposes of the mission, the both of you were simply students with but limited history together.
Hunter made his way to the bleachers, shoulders tensed and brooding. You’d elected to sit on the bench proximate to the court, presumably where the teams would sit in between time on the field.
Gus and Willow, after being thanked for their assistance, departed to pursue their own activities, but even if they hadn’t, you paid them little mind.
The sounds of the grudgby match echoed far beyond the court on which they took place: spells cast, players sent flying, and occasional obscenities hurled. The injuries sustained, non-life-threatening but certainly inhibiting, all reminded you of training. The organised chaos, the stenches of fear and exertion, and the desperation for success were all familiar bedfellows.
You had a slight smile on your face as you watched the madness unfold.
Casting only a peripheral glance to your side, you confirmed that Hunter lingered in his perch upon the top row. Given that he hadn’t already returned to sit beside you, he must still have been sore over your disagreement. It was something you’d have to talk out once the mission was over.
-------
After a vicious and profanity-laden game, the braggart, Boscha, and her team claimed victory. Amity and her team fought well, scoring several goals in rapid succession early in the game, but Boscha’s malevolent energy could not be matched.
She kicked, spat, cursed, and cast at every opportunity, and though it left more than one member of the other team requiring bandages by the time of the game’s conclusion, her approach had paid off.
Simmering with pride, Boscha had soon taken to rehashing everything she and the rest of her team did to secure victory with her fellow grudgby players. Amity’s team was more personable, choosing to tend to one another’s wounds, clean up the courtyard, and move as a group towards a path back to the school grounds.
After turning in your direction, Boscha spied you sitting alone. A devious smile crawled onto her face, and she started to approach you. Unfortunately for you, the injury to your face had resumed itching, and while you sought to address that issue, Boscha made her approach.
The rest of her team made no attempt to regain her attention and instead began one-by-one to slip away from the courtyard as well. You spied Luz, the human witch, moving at high speed, but your attention broke from her in a fresh round of scratching.
Boscha had nearly closed the distance, but amid a scratching fit, you’d shut your eyes. Further unbeknownst to you, Hunter was on the move. Still, the game was over, and the only thing left to do was to link back up with Hunter, decide how to proceed.
Turning about, you noticed he was no longer atop his nest in the bleachers, and for a moment, your blood froze. Was it possible that in your awe at the game, you’d failed to spot a threat? Had something occurred on the bleachers, so close to you, without your knowledge? Had Hunter been discovered and abducted? Had this whole game been a well-planned ruse by the enemies of the emperor to seize his nephew?
Taking a deep breath and letting it flow out slowly, you evaluated the situation. Luz emphatically conversed with an annoyed and uncomfortable Boscha, and you could still see a few wandering students sashaying across the surrounding area. Either whatever happened was subtle, or perhaps, Hunter was simply out of your sight.
There came no noticeable change in temperature or breeze, and the sunlight illuminating the court shone unobstructed. No sizzling of recently cast magic reached your ears, no moaning of abominations, and no belching of steam from exhaust vents of heavy machinery. Still, it was highly doubtful Hunter would have taken off without you.
Another moment of scanning, and you spotted him, lower than usual, and with staff clenched. You almost made to join him in what you first thought was imminent combat before your eyes followed his gaze.
He fixated on Luz and Boscha, the duo barely ten metres from you. Once again, noted a passing thought, you had failed to notice Boscha’s approach.
Boscha opened her mouth and raised a hand to the side of it, only to pause when Luz darted in front of her. She wrinkled her eyes and curled her lip in disgust as Luz grasped her hand with both of her own and began shaking it up and down.
“Wow, that was a great game! You really had us beat!” The words spewed out of Luz's mouth in a flurry of haste and nerves, and she leaned forward with closed eyes in an attempt to command Boscha's attention.
“Your team was awesome! Like, I don’t even know how you guys moved that fast and how you kept scoring so many goals. You were crushing the other team! We’ve met before, by the way. I’m Luz, and have I told you that I’m a huge fan of yours…?”
Luz’s words flooded out in a hodgepodge of watered-down criticism of Amity’s team, praise for Boscha’s apparently unbelievable skill in grudgby, and overeager begging to be taught the secrets to the game’s success. Hunter didn’t move an inch throughout the exchange, his narrowed eyes locked onto Boscha and burning through the human obstacle in the way.
After two full, uninterrupted minutes of Luz heaping further praise on Boscha and desperately seeking tutoring, the aggrieved victor recoiled and yanked her hand free. Visibly cringing, Boscha turned her body to the side, raising her formerly gripped hand in an almost defensive arc to shield her face from Luz’s sight.
“Let go of me, freak! Get lost!” Boscha spat in unabashed repulsion at Luz’s fawning. Luz, either unaware or dismissive of the effort at escape, took the opportunity to move closer to Boscha, even opening her arms for something she called a ‘victory hug.’ She boosted her verbal barrage, adding in personal compliments about the grudgby player’s hair, shoes, and even her smell.
Horrified, Boscha lurched about and, after shrieking a string of words you could only assume she did not learn in class, raced away, presumably to find any remnants of her team.
Luz abandoned any attempt at pursuit and instead rounded herself to face Hunter. Her shoulders drew in tight, and her eyes remained focused on his, but her stance demonstrated less malice than it did determination.
“Why did you do that?” Hunter asked, failing to contain the wrath singing in his ears. Once again, his shoulders tensed up, and his posture ran rigid. Eyes slitted, he glared in unrepentant disgust at the retreating figure of Boscha and the interrupting one of Luz.
“Because, like you, I saw what she was about to do. That wouldn’t have been good for anyone, least of all, you.” Her words betrayed an edge, akin to Hunter’s, but the intent was different: where Hunter’s reeked of hostility, Luz’s turned quiet with worry. The steadiness with which she spoke belied her erratic actions towards Boscha merely moments prior.
“Come on, Hunter. It's just a friendly game."
"Is it? Does this always happen at your 'friendly games'? People getting bludgeoned because the enemy team decided not to play fair!" Sweat resurfaced on Hunter’s face, with beads of it dripping across his forehead. His teeth remained grated, but as Boscha had left his field of view, he seemed to mellow out, albeit slightly.
"Well, no. That was a little extreme, but—"
"But nothing! The game's over, so we're leaving. We're done!”
Luz made an effort to step forward, offering a hand in support of the shaking Hunter. He bristled at the potential contact, turning away in a flurry of loathing and shame.
“That wasn’t okay for her to do that.” Hunter stared at a plot of dirt, emotion draining from his voice. Despite his choked attempt at masking his feelings, an occasional tremor tickled up his arm.
The other students, either ignorant or indifferent, continued on with their day.
With the match over, you made for the bench, intent on passing through Hunter’s field of view before quietly slipping off back to the main school grounds. A direct interruption of Hunter whilst he was in the midst of conversation would do little to assuage him, but he needed a reason to pull himself from the interaction.
An impulse to scratch at your recent wound emerged, however, and with it, came a ringing in your ears that made you all but deaf to the surrounding world.
Luz playfully hit Hunter’s shoulder, which yielded a twitch. “See? I knew you'd come around!” She offered a kind smile, careful not to reveal hostility or make any additional sudden moves.
Hunter blinked, a tired push against the dark bags already set in, turned to the stands and looked away from Luz, eyes seeming to glaze. “If she hurts them again, you won't stop me.”
Luz eyed him with her arm drawn to her chest. She pursed her lips and closed her fist, a seed of worry in her gut.
Seeing you paw at your injury but swerve in his direction, Hunter lifted his eyes from the ground and began striding to meet you. Energy returned to his movements, but before he could reach you, Luz again called out to him.
"Hunter! Why don't you stay five?" She inquired, seeming determined to make peace. Hunter stopped on a heel and, casting one further look in your direction, turned back, less forcefully than simply aggrieved.
"Unlike you, human, we have places to be." The condescension in his voice was overpowering, reminiscent of someone with infinitely many other, and all decidedly superior, opportunities for social interaction than the one in which he found himself.
Dismissively, Hunter spun about, certain to find you standing behind him, or at least, proximate to him, but instead, he gaped at the sight of you having just passed by him to meander on the pathways winding about the bleachers.
In an instant, the anger evaporated from his face. "Where are you going?" The tone change in his voice betrayed no small amount of uncertainty and even suggested a hint of fear.
"I thought I told you to wait for me," he sputtered out, ignoring any further communication from Luz, or indeed, any of the other students or creatures that remained on or near the courtyard.
"You'd have lain into everyone on the court if I didn't give you a reason to leave." You turned your head slightly back towards Hunter as you continued walking, presenting a slight smirk.
To him, there lurked no anger in that face, no sting of disappointment, no plot to humiliate, no condemnation shaved sharp on the tip of your words. You spoke to him then, just as you had so many times before, like another person, rather than some useful tool or obstacle in the way of brighter prospects.
Though your eyes only met his momentarily, and via periphery, that old fire bloomed on his face once more. "I just—" he turned his head away, again reaching for a mask he did not possess "—want things to be fair."
You offered a snicker, quiet, but due to Hunter’s proximity, audible.
All you heard in between your steps to the forest was a single, solitary squeak.

a headcanon i really like is that since hunter is a grimwalker and made with stonesleeper lungs, he has the stonesleeper trait of liking to be scratched behind the ears lol. would love to see a oneshot about that ^^
Tumblr media
A/N: That sounds really adorable
TW: Mentions of past trauma
Tumblr media
You had been sitting on the couch watching tv until midnight with Hunter. It was almost 11, and you wanted to go to bed. You weren't very tired yet, but you were going to get there soon enough. You could feel your eyes drooping as your head fell back against the couch, and your gaze settled on Hunter. He was sleeping peacefully on his side in front of you.
It had been a while since you and the others found out that he was a grimwalker. However no one treated him differently, you continued to flick through channels and decided to turn off the tv. Making a mental note to find a good show to watch later.
The night before you and Hunter had decided on something else, however as usual Hunter insisted that you choose what you wanted to do. You knew belos’s actions had left an imprint on Hunter, always asking what you wanted to do and never what he wanted to do.
You let out a sigh, throwing your head back on the couch as Hunter continued to snore. ‘Hm, if I remember correctly..Hunter has the trait of a stonesleeper’, you thought to yourself. Without realizing you had brought your hand to the back of his cut ear.
As you did, your mind traveled back to the first time you saw Hunter for the first time, when you had been fighting him to free the palismen. “So…how did you get those scars? Never seen anything like them.” “You humans talk a lot, don’t you?', he said completely ignoring what you asked.
You couldn’t help but scratch the back of his elf like ears. They were so cute. You watched as Hunter shuffled around a bit, you decided to pull the blanket more over him. As you went on with scratching the back of ear, you watched how it twitched just from scratching.
A soft sound of content escaped Hunter's lips and you felt butterflies in your stomach. The smile came naturally, and you couldn't stop yourself. If you could describe his actions when being scratched, it was almost cat-like.
You couldn't stop rubbing his ears until you got tired. It didn't take long for you to finally stop, but you made sure not to wake him. Leaving you to your thoughts, ‘grimwalker or not, his reactions are everything when sleeping’. You rubbed the under of his eyes, he really needs to sleep more. ‘Maybe I should teach him some skincare’, you thought thinking how it would be a nice way to bond together.
You squeezed him slightly before placing a kiss on his ear, only for it to twitch and turn a shade of red. You pulled back and laughed softly, he was so adorable, even after having been asleep for an hour. You leaned down and kissed his cheek gently and then gotten comfortable, only to wrap an arm around his waist. ‘Goodnight’, you whispered before drifting off to sleep.

crush on wild witch hcs ; hunter
Tumblr media
requested by ; anonymous (24/10/21)
fandom(s) ; the owl house
fandom masterlist(s) ; here
character(s) ; hunter wittebane
outline ; “Hunter just realizing he has a crush on a wild witch after multiple encounters with them and his inner monologue is just: No. Stop. Shit. WHY?!”
warning(s) ; semi enemies to lovers
the first time he met you, he didn’t really feel any which way about you
like yes you were a wild witch and yes he was the golden guard and you weren’t exactly on the same side
but you were just a witch and he was off duty and so he just kinda sent some scouts after you, assuming it to be too easy of a mission for him to get involved in
that you’d be petrified by the end of the week
but then he saw you again, a few weeks later, walking around as if nothing was wrong as you went about some menial task
alive and breathing and definitely not made of stone
and he was intrigued and approached you and teased you and you fought
or, well, you squabbled
he wouldn’t call it a fight because he certainly wasn’t trying and it was more about antagonising you — about having fun
until you beat him and he was forced to run and lick his wounds
the golden guard defeated by a single wild witch. it was shameful!
and that was when he started to see you as a threat, as his equal and that was far from a good thing
and he hated you for it. for beating him, humiliating him, sending him back to the emperor with more than just a bruised ego
so he made it his personal mission to apprehend you and take you back to the conformatorium himself
but he began with just watching you as you went about your daily life — observing you and learning your patterns and habits and weaknesses as an individual by blending into crowds and buildings and nature
making a note of everything that made you squirm and frown and bristle so he could use everything at his disposal the next time you fought
and that next time came far sooner than he anticipated and you battled over the boiling ocean, flying and dipping and diving and teleporting as you exchanged spells and dealt out blows as good as you got
only retreating when it started to rain and you were forced to seek shelter — which you’d noticed first and warned him with a biting remark that had him turning red from more than just embarrassment
and he hated you for it
well he didn’t hate you for it, but he had to hate you
because you were a wild witch and he was the golden guard and he hated wild witches and you hated the emperor’s coven, which hated wild witches
and that meant he had to hate wild witches and that meant hating you
you and your endless sarcasm and your mastery of magic and your ability to match him in pace and ferocity in battle
okay maybe he didn’t hate you — no matter how much he tried to will himself to
and maybe that was worse — to lay awake at night thinking about a wild witch and worrying about your safety when he should be hunting you
shit.

Hi! I saw your requests were open! Could you write a Hunter x Fem! Reader one-shot where the reader has a overprotective palisman who’s just a lil shit and actively tries to sabotage them getting together?
(You can keep reader’s palisman ambiguous in species but I had a capybara palisman in mind for the reader)
Protective Palisman - hunter x fem!reader
summary: you started to reminisce on the “good” times between hunter and your palisman
words: 912
warnings: nothing besides Palisman being a shit 😭
a/n: sorry this is a bit late! i had a lot of work I needed to catch up on, but i hope this is good and meets what you were hoping for. i had a really fun time writing this and i fell in love with the Palisman 😭🫶🏻
Tumblr media
You looked down at Hunter, a small smile etching its way into your face noticing how your palisman cuddled into him. It was nice to finally see the capybara palisman finally accepting of you and Hunter’s relationship. He had been, to put it simply, a little shit when you two first started ‘going out’. If that’s what you could call the endeavors between you two. You start to reminisce about the first time Oz had ever met Hunter, well at this point it had been Caleb.
“Oz, come back here!” The palisman had currently been scampering through the crowd of students, holding a fairy pie in his mouth. The same fairy pie that he had stolen from the baking club's booth, again. He really was a little shit at all times.
You had finally gotten your eyes on him again as he was passing by Willow’s booth. “Oz you little shit!” Willow turned to look at the fleeing palisman and your running figure behind her with wide eyes. She laughed a little before picking Oz up from the ground. The sudden stopping of the palisman had you trying to stop, but it had already been a couple of beats too late as you were hurdling toward the ground. Oz started to make a weird noise from the safety of Willow’s arms that you could only assume was his way of laughing at you.
You looked up at him and he had already been munching on away on the fairy pie. Your face fell. Great, now you owed the bakery club a new pie. You were probably just going to get Amity to make a new one. You stood from the ground, brushing the dust from your uniform and wiping away at your face. The minute your eyes fell on the palisman held in Willow’s arms, your features twisted into a scowl.
“You okay Y/n?” Willow asked. She handed you Oz, a little reluctantly because of the state of your anger.
“Yeah, great. I just owe the bakery club a new pie now.” You sighed. You held Oz in your arms as you looked at the booth Willow had set up. It had been all about flyer derby, which you had thought was really cool that she had gotten into it after playing Grudgy with Luz and Gus. But looking around the booth, you noticed the Golden Guard standing there. Just as you were about to get your staff ready, you noticed him motioning for you to stay quiet. You narrowed your eyes, but quickly smirked and decided to use this moment to your advantage.
“I see you have your first recruit for Flyer Derby, Willow.” Hunter’s eyes widened, he opened his mouth to mostly likely negate what you had said but you gave him a look that made him close his mouth.
“Really? Oh, that’s awesome! Maybe with his wicked flying skills and your sick magic combos, we can actually win!” Willow jumped around the ground and went off to probably go find some more recruits. You looked over at Hunter who was currently occupied with a somewhat feral Oz backing him into the other booths.
“Oz!” You picked up your palisman (who was still not relenting in trying to scare Hunter) and looked at Hunter. “Look, I don’t know what you’re doing here or why you're scared of a capybara of all animals but don’t screw this up for Willow. She’s an amazing person and deserves this win.” You went to turn around but felt a hand around your wrist. Hunter stood there looking at you, earnest in his eyes. “I wouldn’t…purposely try to ruin things.” Pink had tinted his whole face at the contact between your hands. You smiled at the flushed boy and put your hand into his which caused his eyes to widen.
“Good,” you commented. This was when Oz decided to jump from your hold and ravage whatever sanity Hunter had left. The palisman took the hood of Hunter’s borrowed cowl and covered his entire face with it and then took his tiny paws and tried to hit the top of the boy’s head.
“Oz!”
You laughed at remembering your palisman’s antics. He may cause you a lot of trouble from time to time, but you loved him nonetheless and knew he only wanted the best for you.
You started to feel movement in your lap and looked down at Hunter opening his eyes after some much needed rest.
“Mornin’ sleepyhead,” You smiled at him. He groaned and proceeded to stretch his limbs before looking at you with a tired smile. “What were you laughing about?” He questioned.
“Oh you know, just the first time you and Oz practically ever met.” The words caused Hunter to deflate and purse his lips.
“I still have marks from the time he wouldn't stop biting my ankles.” You laughed while ruffling Hunter’s hair.
“To be fair to Oz, you were trying to kidnap my friends and I.” At the mention of the palisman’s name, Oz woke up from his nap and looked between you and Hunter with a squeak. Sometimes he was too smart for his own good.
“Still,” Hunter grumbled to himself. It was that moment Oz decided to relive some good memories by terrorizing Hunter once again by tugging at the edges of his hair.
You continued to cackle at your palisman while Hunter ran off trying to pry his hair free, Flapjack flying behind the disgruntled boy.

love triangle with yandere hunter & yandere edric
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: yandere!golden guard!hunter! x gn!reader x yandere!edric blight
tags: reader being locked away, mean!edric, reader crying, angst, minor mentions of murderous thoughts, overall toxic behaviour
a/n: i found this image as a repost, but if anyone has the artists name, then please let me know so i can credit them!
Tumblr media
hunter is a lot of things as a yandere that are all due to his upbringing by emperor belos
hunter is clingy, obsessive, possessive and overprotective of you, all because you are his favorite person!
he even isolates you from the world around you, because he so desperately needs to have you for himself
growing up, he was never someone's favorite person and now that he has you, he can't lose being your favorite!
hunter depends on you and needs to have you in his life, otherwise it would be completely meaningless…
he's only so overbearingly clingy, obsessive, overprotective and possessive because he couldn't live without being your favorite person
and to make sure he always stays your favorite, he keeps you hidden away from the world
but there is one boy who dares to defy hunter and force his way into your life; edric blight!
edric had the wrong idea about your relationship from the start and always misread the signals you were giving him
you were just being polite when talking to him, but edric was convinced you were secretly in love with him and not hunter!
because of that, edric is quite condescending and can come off as quite a douche, because he's just so convinced that you're in love with him
he's always flirting with you and playfully teasing, though sometimes he can come off more as a bully with his teasing
the way he talks about your relationship with hunter, mocking you for liking the golden guard, can often get you to tear up, only for edric to brush it off as him just making a joke and you being too sensitive
whenever edric makes you cry, he won't leave you alone until you assure him that you aren't mad at him, training you to say things like "i'm never mad at you" or "i still love you"
deep down, he knows he can't easily steal you away from hunter, so he has to condition you into loving him, by regularly training you to say that you love him
hunter and edric absolutely despise each other!
hunter locks you away to keep you away from edric, yet edric still manages to sneak in and steal you away for a date outside
while hunter is the nice one out of the two, the one that makes you feel loved, edric is the one that makes you feel free!
and you really do need both of those things; love and freedom
slowly, the two boys have to accept that, even if they'd rather be the only one in your life
they'd rather kill each other than have the other steal you away from them, but they know it would only make you sad if they died, so they don't hurt each other
after all, they both do want you to be happy…

𝙶𝚎𝚗𝚎𝚛𝚎𝚕 𝚈𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝙷𝚎𝚊𝚍𝚌𝚊𝚗𝚘𝚗𝚜- 𝙶𝚘𝚕𝚍𝚎𝚗 𝙶𝚞𝚊𝚛𝚍 (𝙷𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚎𝚛)
Tumblr media
𓅓 The Golden Guard, being possessive and protective, would treat you as his prized possession, ensuring your safety at all costs. He would go to great lengths to shield you from any harm or danger.
𓅓 When it comes to cuddling, the Golden Guard would have a dual nature. On one hand, he would be extremely gentle and affectionate, embracing you tightly and showering you with affection. However, there might also be moments where his possessive tendencies surface, resulting in intense, possessive cuddling sessions.
𓅓 In terms of keeping you, the Golden Guard would be incredibly possessive, wanting you to be solely his. He may go to extreme lengths to isolate you from others, ensuring that you’re always within his sight and control. This could involve restricting your interactions with friends or even keeping you confined in certain situations.
𓅓 As for nicknames, the Golden Guard might call you his “Precious Bird,” “My Human,” or “My Love.” These endearing names reflect his possessive affection and how highly he values you.
𓅓 Around you, the Golden Guard would exhibit a mix of intense devotion and protectiveness. He would always be on high alert, constantly watching over you and being ready to intervene if any perceived threat arises. His actions may come across as overbearing, but they stem from his overwhelming love and desire to protect you.

Reflections (Hunter/Golden guard x reader)
Tw- Mild panic attack description (I kept it pretty vague don't worry) Also Lilith is still a villain in this, but like Hunter is in the middle of his redemption arc
3.2k words
~a world on which one can see their soulmate in the mirror~
You were quite familiar with the mirror in your bathroom. Each morning, you saw the face of a rather cute guy, and this morning was no different. As you brushed your teeth, the red eyes of a boy you didn’t know stared back at you through the glass. Sighing, you indulged in what had become your routine as soon as you saw him. Putting your toothbrush down, you pushed up to sit on the counter, inches from the mirror. You checked every angle, examined every detail, and did your best to memorize every scar and every pore to ensure that if you ever saw him, you’d know.
You carefully traced where his biggest scar was on your own face. His hands were scarred too. You wondered what he could have done to get that, or the bags under his eyes… you traced the shape of those too.
                                                       …
There were no mirrors in the emperors castle. Belos made sure that nobody was distracted, nobody could look and wonder, and his little Golden guard wouldn’t have anyone to hope for.
But his logic was faulty. At night, when he was sure nobody would see, the castle halls devoid of any life, he carefully took off his Golden mask, and stared at the reflection. In the dim moonlight and gold tint of the metal, he saw them. His soulmate. That’s what comforted him whenever his uncle lashed out. His eyes fell of their face again, and he smiled softly. One day he’d meet them. Maybe he’d even get them to join the emperors coven, and work side by side with his soulmate. Things would be better then.
                                                     …
The Golden guard was to accompany Lilith on a quick mission to snatch her sister. Walking together, they always had an air of power and authority, the two highest ranking members of the emperors coven. The citizens of the boiling isles didn’t know how childish the two really were together.
“Just stay behind me, Golden brat,” Lilith whispered as they approached Eda’s market stand. She was walking fast, trying to keep the Golden guard out of her sight line.
“You know I can report you to my uncle for insubordination, right?” Hunter threatened. The lighthearted tone of his voice was meant to be menacing, and Lilith was not immune, despite her status.
She huffed, “let’s just get her and get on with it.” She slowed down her pace so that Hunter walked beside her. “There, over there,” Lilith pointed to the stand. The grey haired owl lady was trying to drum up some business… and she wasn’t alone. While Eda stood on the table yelling at passing witches, a younger witch manned the till, taking money from the poor souls the owl lady was scamming. Hunter squinted through the thin eye holes of his mask, they seemed vaguely familiar. He couldn’t place from where.
”Alright Golden guard, I’ll talk to her while you go behind… only attack if I can’t convince her, okay?” Lilith sighed, ever hopeful. Hunter nodded, and stalked behind the curtain, listening in on the conversation.
He had never assisted Lilith in the missions to recruit her sister, but he’d heard from Steve that it was always the same. They talked, Edalyn refused, and Lilith inevitably failed. It was happening again, and the Golden guard leaned on his staff as he waited, eavesdropping on the argument.
“Edalyn just come with me, we can cure your curse together,” Lilith sounded desperate.
“I’m doing just fine in my own, Lillie,” Edalyn huffed, “if this is all you came to say, then you can leave!”
Another voice spoke from the other side of the curtain, “You aren’t welcome here anyway, coven head.” They sounded cold and quiet.
”You tell her’ Y/n!”
Lilith grumbled. She sighed before speaking, “Then I have no choice but to take you by force, Edalyn.”
That was his signal. Hunter crept out from behind the stand and placed his staff, alight with magic, against the back of the owl lady. With a smirk in his voice, he chirped, “This should be relatively painless if you don’t move.”
Before the owl lady had time to react, her apparent partner in crime did. In a blink the Golden guard felt the ground shake behind him, and before he could look, he was struck behind the head by a whip of vines.
Hunter stumbled forward, and Edalyn lunged at Lilith, owl staff in hand. She swung the staff and released a blast of magic toward Lilith, “You know you can’t beat me, sister!”
Teleporting up to his feet, the Golden guard swung his staff swiftly, barely sparing a glance at his attacker. Though when they blocked with a wall of lush green foliage, Hunter had to look at them proper, to counter their movement. And look he did. As his eyes fell on the face of the wild witch, he stumbled. He didn’t teleport out of the way of their strike, instead letting their vines knock him off balance.
For a split second he thought he saw himself. But no. It wasn’t him, it was them. Them, who he’d seen before, who he felt he knew, in a strange way.
They moved quickly, kicking him to the ground and standing over him as they grew vines to trap him there. His reflection, standing over him. His soulmate. He felt himself blushing despite himself as he looked up at them. Hunter silently hoped Lilith was better at her job then he at his.
                                                         …
As luck would have it for Hunter, his hopes were correct, however unlucky for you.
The prison cell was dark. It was dark, and the air smelled like mold and moss despite how clean everything else was in the castle.
You patted yourself down as you paced the cell, checking each pocket. No elixir, and Eda’s time was running out. Usually you had a bottle on you, for situation me like these. Today though, nothing. “Oh, Titan, Eda, I’m so sorry,” you said, stepping closer to her and sinking to the ground beside her. “I should have had something.”
”Oh Titan no, this isn’t your problem,” she put a hand on your shoulder, “and I’m sorry you have to deal with it so often.” She sprouted a few feathers from her neck.
You winced, and stretched an arm out toward her, “Eda, try not to move so much, you’ll make it worse.” You weren’t sure what you were reaching for.
”Chill out, Kid,” she reached to take you hand, but stopped when she heard. A creak, and a crack of light began to shine through the room, the basement door was open.
Neither of you could see, but you heard. Somebody was walking down with haste on the damp stairway to the cells. You silently looked to Eda, both of you formulating a plan of escape.
Your eyes had adjusted to the darkness long ago, and you saw the figure approaching clearly. The Golden guard. You once again looked to Eda, but his voice drew your attention.
It was shaky. And quiet. He seemed almost scared. “There’s… been a change of plans. You two are free to go.” His words echoed around the empty dungeon.
Once again, you looked to Eda, who seemed just as confused as you.
“What do you mean,” she asked. “My sisters been hunting me down for ages, and now that you finally got me, you’re letting me go?”
The Golden guard shrunk and clutched his staff. “Yes,” he said, reaching for his pocket. You could hear the keys jingling inside. He fumbled with them a moment before bringing them up to the lock.
Eda whispered beside you, and nudged you with her elbow, “This is weird, right?”
The Golden guard hesitated before he put in the key. Silently and subtly, you pointed at him. Eda’s eyes followed. The Golden guard had stopped, and stared at the lock. Or that’s what it looked like. The mask didn’t give away any emotion, or where his eyes were pointed.
A small sigh could be heard from inside his mask, and he rested his head a moment on the bars of the cell just above the lock.
Despite his… everything. Despite the grievances the Golden guard had caused you, you felt curious. Maybe even compassion. He seemed so… defeated. You moved to the edge of the cell where he stood, only a few inches and the bars separating your. “Golden guard… are you alright?” You asked quietly. He sighed again. The dim light reflected your soulmate in his mask.
“I’m… I’m alright. Thanks for asking,” he muttered. This is not what you expected from the Golden guard, after everything Eda told you.
“Uh, okay, then- I guess…” neither of you moved. You didn’t dare to. “C-can I ask why we’re being released?”
He shuddered. Eda hissed behind you, “How bout we don’t ask questions and just get out of here!” She had more feathers then last you looked.
The Golden guard shook his head, “No, no, it’s… there’s been a change of plans, that’s all.” He turned the key, and the cell door creaked open. The room was strangely silent. Very few witches were held in the castle, most inhabited cells in town. But Eda was special, and you were both placed in the belly of the beast, alone. The creaking echoed throughout the space.
Quickly, you turned back to help Eda, who was using most of her energy to keep the owl beast inside. You scooped her up and swung her arm over a shoulder, helping her walk out with haste as you followed behind the Golden guard. Eda’s hair tickled the side of your cheek as you moved to whisper to her, “Is this really the same Golden guard that we… feared?”
”I don’t know, but I don’t see anything good coming from asking him,” she shuddered a few feathers sprouting from her neck. “Let’s just… take this one. I’m not in the condition to fight our way out, Y/n…”
You glanced back to the Golden figure you were following. His cape flowed with his stride, and stopped with him as he halted in front of the dungeon door. Light crept through the underside of it, and you could hear the echo of a sigh under the boy’s mask.
He was slow in his motion, unsteady even. You looked at Eda, finding her eyes on yours in similar expression. Silently and telepathically, you recognized the… sketchiness of the situation. He was too scared. It was practically radiating off him, his composure was wrong.
The door opened slowly, and as soon as it was, the Golden guard rushed through. As he entered the hallway, his head was on a swivel checking left and right for… anything. There must have been an understanding between the three of you, because you and Eda stayed in the shadows of the doorway until he gave a nod, a signal for you to follow.
He looked at the two of you as you hobbled out with Eda on your shoulder. His voice didn’t paint an optimistic portrait of your escape plan. “You can’t run like that, can you, Owl Lady?”
“That would not be a good idea, no,” she whispered.
He took a deep breath, and rolled his shoulders. “Okay… let’s just get moving.”
He took off walking at a brisk pace down the corridor, and you linked with the owl witch as quick as you could behind, hallway after hallway.
Then footsteps. The Golden guard didn’t hesitate, he stuck his arm out in front of you, signalling to stop. Neither you nor Eda moved, Titan, you barely breathed. Shallow, quiet breathes as voices grew louder with the coming footsteps. The Golden guard muttered under his breath, “Kikimora… we have to hide.”
Before you could think, he grabbed you by the free arm and teleported in a golden flash to a nearby door. Unlocked. Lucky. It was dark, and empty, and the Golden guard closed it quickly behind you.
He positioned himself directly next to the closed door, ready to jump anyone who might enter. With a silent movement of the neck, he gestured for you and Eda to stand beside him. Where you were easily protected.
The footsteps were just outside. Their walking shadows danced under the door, and you may have heard their words if your heart wasn’t pumping in your ears. It was as if time was frozen, and you were acutely aware of your spine for reason beyond your comprehension. In that moment you were fully aware of the mild back pain sitting in that cell had given you. The curvature of a spine was a strange thought too. You pressed your back against the wall to try and correct your posture. Your breathing grew shallower, barely any air making its way to your lungs. Spinal fluid is strange, how did spine have juice in them, how odd. Your back hurt, and the shadows underneath the door were blurry. In fact, once you looked up you realized most things were blurry, with black encroaching on the edges of your vision.
Eda’s voice was faint in your ear. She was beastly, and nearly too weak to talk. She pointed at the Golden guard.
“Y/n? Are you still with me?” His whispering sounded far away. “Y/n!” He hissed as he came back into focus. “Y/n, it’s okay, breath.” You breathed. Your head had grown heavy, and tilted on its axis slightly as you looked at his mask. Your vision was clearing as your eyes focused.
“I’m… okay,” you muttered. “Slight… panic attack, maybe.”
He nodded, and took your free hand while he watched and listened for the people passing. You thought about that instead of your spine, with your head rested on the wall for support.
”Okay, the coast is very much not clear, I don’t think we can leave that way,” the Golden guard said, pointing at the door. He looked at Eda, who had recoiled into you, more of her weight falling on your shoulder. “Titan, she can’t walk much further can she?”
Eda tried to say something, an effort she quickly gave up. You shook your head, “I don’t think so, no.”
He sighed, and ran his gloved fingers through his hair anxiously. “Okay, uh, new plan then. Can you guys… keep a secret, perhaps?
”Um..” his mask gave nothing of his expression away. “I.. I think so, yes.”
He let go of your hand, and started to pace in a small circle while he fidgeted. “Okay, well, we are close to my room, which has a… method of escape in it.” His fingers tried to itch at his hands as he thought. “Maybe he’ll hear us from here.”
The Golden guard rushed to the window, opening it and leaning half his body out. He lifted his mask to speak. Awkwardly, you turned away still holding Eda, avoiding looking at his face. It felt disrespectful. He whisper yelled something, aiming and enhancing his voice by cupping his hands around his lips. You couldn’t make out his words.
As he crawled back in the window, your back still turned, you had to ask. “Uh, Golden guard, why are you doing this for us?”
His lie didn’t last long in your mind, he knew it was weak. Emperor Belos hadn’t had a change of plans, it was just him. “Well…” You felt a hand on your shoulder, “I… have too.”
You maneuvered Eda around as you turned to face him. What met your eyes was… you’re face? No. No, not your face. His. His unmasked face, which was also, somehow, the face you saw in the mirror every morning. You’d grown to think of it as your own. Your hand moved by pure instinct to trace where his scar is on your own cheek as you looked at him, mouth agape.
”Y/n, uh, I’m sorry…” he muttered. Titan, for what? You wanted to ask, but you mind was swarmed with every emotion, frozen. The thing to break you from your trace was a bird. A small cardinal stopped rested on the windowsill.
The Golden guard looked over, his eyes alight with pride, “Palisman! You came!” He teleported over to pet the bird, and in his hand it turned to a staff. The golden guard whipped his head back to you and Eda, “You can fly down with him, get far away from the castle and get her some help.”
Still overwhelmed, you nodded. You moved with a start as quick as you could with Eda in her condition. He handed you the staff when you stopped in front of him. His eyes were a little different in person. When his face had your expression he looked a lot different.
“Golden guard… what’s your name?”
“Hunter,” he muttered, fist clenched at his side. He looked to the floor. “And… sorry again. For… all this.”
You found it in you to smile, “Thanks for this though,” you say, waving the staff slightly in your hand. “We… really appreciate it, Hunter.” You found yourself avoiding his gaze, looking instead to the wooden bird.
He was still looking down, avoiding your eyes as well, but you could see him blush. His ears gave it away. “Yeah… anytime, Y/n.”
You started to speak, but felt Eda shift on your shoulder. She needed elixir, badly. Lips pursed, you turned back to Hunter, “We have to go, like, now.” You paused before starting for the window. “I’m glad I met you… we’ll see each other again, yeah?” you smiled back at him before shifting the staff between your legs and putting Eda’s weight on it.
Hunter nodded slightly, then eagerly, meeting your eyes again. His face reddened further. “Yeah, I hope so…” he balled his fists at his sides and looked down again. “Also, uh…”
A scream could be heard down the hall. A faint cry for guards from a woman’s voice, Lillith’s, you presumed.
The Golden guard looked at the door, then back at you. He teleported closer to help hold the staff as Eda shifted her weight, the two of you nearly out the window. He looked frantically back at the door again. “Okay, you guys leave, also, Y/n, you’re really pretty and I love seeing your face every night, okay bye.”
He sputtered it his words just as you were pushing off the windowsill, giving you no time to react. You could feel the heat at your cheeks as you sped through the air, flying as fast as you could back to the owl house.
When Eda  inevitably recovered, you’d have to see him again. Maybe commit a crime or two, that would get his attention.

hii can I request hunter x witch!reader where the reader catches human cold like when luz catched Demon Realm mold(?) and hunter takes care of them^^
ty♡
Tumblr media
A/n: I have a cold while writing this-
Luz had asked you to go to the human realm for a bit. And you said yes without hesitation. But she had warned you of how cold it was. No matter. You brought a heavy jacket before going. You also grabbed a hat to cover your ears.
But once you got there the hat served more of a purpose than covering your ears. Well, it did cover your ears, but now from the cold and not just from others' eyes. A thin layer of snow covered the ground. The cold air bit at your nose and ankles, causing you to run to Luz's house,
When you finally got there you didn't bother to knock and just ran in. "Y/n there you are!" You heard Luz say, "You were the last one here and we were worried!" We? You looked around to see Amity, Gus, Willow, and Hunter. The gangs all here.
"I'm sorry if I had known that you were worried I would have come faster." That was a lie. You were going as fast as you could but your ankles felt numb. "It's fine just sit down. I'll get you a blanket." You nodded and sat down by where Hunter was sitting.
Despite Luz getting you a blanket you decided to cuddle into him to gain some warmth. Also because it was nice to just cuddle with him sometimes. "Holy- Are you okay!?" Hunter said once your skin made full contact with him
"Yeah, I'm just really cold-" Suddenly a blanket was thrown on you and him. You let out a pleased hum. A smile spread across your face. The rest of the night went relatively fine. But right before you left Luz asked if all of you wanted a sleepover, which everyone agreed to.
You fell asleep relatively quickly. Feeling pretty comfy. Once you woke up however your nose was super stuffed and your throat hurt. You coughed which irritated your throat more. You groaned and you suddenly heard a voice.
"Oh, you're up!" Luz said from behind you, "What's wrong?" "I have a stuffy nose and my throat really hurts." You cringed at the sound of your voice. Luz thought for a moment. "You probably caught a cold nothing serious... hopefully." "What do you mean hopefully!?" You accidentally yelled
She shushed you, gesturing to the others. "It's called the common cold, but I'm not sure how it witches." She walked closer to you, "It's kinda like the common mold back on the Isles. Excluding the mushrooms... And the deliriousness. Okay, there's nothing that similar besides the name, but if I was able to survive a demon realm sickness, you should be able to survive a human realm sickness."
"I'm just going to go home can you tell the others." She nodded. You got up, put on your hat and jacket, and went to the door. Just as your hand reached the handle you turned around. "What's the likelihood of someone seeing me teleport to the portal?" You asked Luz. "Not likely, nobody besides us really goes there."
You waved and wrapped yourself in abomination goop. But when you teleported you didn't arrive in front of the portal. Instead, you arrived almost falling into into the water. You backed up and groaned slightly. The teleport took more out of you than you anticipated.
You slugged your way towards your house. Despite this being normal for humans it was taking a toll on your body. You eventually got to your house and immediately flopped on your couch. You were on your right side and snot clogged your right nostril. You cringed and closed your body into itself. Even though you woke up a few moments earlier you slowly fell back asleep.
You woke back up to a fluffy blanket placed on you. Out of panic of suddenly having a blanket on you, you threw it off of you. Suddenly you saw your boyfriend's face by you. "Are you okay?" He asked concern lacing his voice. "Are you the one who placed the blanket on me?" He nodded. "Okay sorry, I just panicked. "It's fine you don't need to apologize."
You sniffled. "Do you have a tissue?" "One sconed." He left and then came back with a tissue. You blow your nose. "Ugh." You said looking at the wet tissue. You went over to a nearby trash can and almost fell over after a few steps. The only reason you didn't is that Hunter caught you. He picked you up and placed you down on your bed.
"Can you make soup?" You asked. Hunter inhaled through his teeth. "You know I'm not the best at cooking." "I don't care I just need something warm." Hunter nodded then leaned down and kissed you. You swatted him away. "Please don't. I don't want to make you sick." Hunter let out I light chuckle. "It would be worth it to make you feel loved." He said with pride. You grumble. He smiled sweetly, "I'll make sure you're better in no time! Trust me."

Would anyone be interested in me writing a Hunter x gender neutral Reader fic where Hunter and Reader swap places?
Like, Reader is the Golden Guard (and a grimwalker) and Hunter is a human (and is friends with Luz).
This is a idea i had for a very long time but i wanted to wait until the show was over to write this.
So … is anyone interested?
Tumblr media
Edit:
I forgot to tell you that I won't post the fic in this blog, but in a side one.
I will post the fic here, @sometimes-you-write .
Edit:
Unfortunately, because of lack of motivation, this work is currently on hiatus.

hugs — hunter (gg) x noceda!reader
Tumblr media
summary: your first hug with hunter after a week of not seeing each other much (you’re back to school in the human realm) and he conks out during the middle of it
a/n: this is based off of what zeno said about hunter avoiding hug’s because they’re too comfortable and he’ll fall asleep 🙁🙁 HES SO CUTEBSJSJS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
wc: 638
warnings: being tired, hunter being a sweetie pie
Being Camila and Manny’s first child, there were more trial and errors with you than there were with your younger sister.
And it’s not that you were upset, but being a year younger than mostly all of your classmates could be a bit belittling — Gus understood that. And so did Hunter.
Speaking of which, after returning from the demon realm with your sister and your friends, you’d been too busy to do anything for yourself with school, applying for colleges, working on a way back, and your job at Camila’s veterinary clinic.
It’s been exhausting, but, fall break was about to begin in…
You glance at the clock above the chalkboard, narrowing your eyes at the 1 minute and 23… 22… 21…
Oh, whatever.
Shoving your notebook and computer back into your book bag, you heaved a sigh doing so.
You’d been given a break from work for the week, the staff all adored you and Luz and encouraged this break, saying that “you’d been spending too much time at work,” and “that boyfriend of yours must be missing you.”
You appreciated the concern, but not the teasing. Even if it was coming from a place of love.
RING! RING! RING!
Slinging your bag over your shoulder, you swiftly exited your class, ignoring the concerned look on your friend Masha’s face as you quickly scurried out. They’d be able to call you later anyhow.
Luz found you out at your car and waved softly. You ruffled her hair when she got in arms reach, and you both got into the car to ride home.
When she found out you and Hunter had started dating, she was a little (very) concerned and yet… excited for you. You had always been a role model for her, and she couldn’t harp on you for finding someone that made you happy.
Even if they were evil. At the time.
Hunter’s pretty much family now, along with Vee. You see him cooking with Camila and your heart warms, because you never thought you’d find something like what your parents had.
When you get home, your mom hasn’t arrived yet, and the others are in the shack behind the house. Luz goes to see them, but you stumble inside tiredly, ready to nap after the relentless and hectic past few months that barely let you rest.
Flopping your bag onto your desk, you followed suite by flopping onto the chair at your desk with a huff.
You were beginning to drift until…
“(Y/n)?”
Heavy eyelids shot open, and you sat up straight, quickly wiping the drool off your face before turning to the door.
Hunter poked his head in through the cracked open door, you stood to greet him with a smile. It had been almost a week since you’d really been able to talk and you missed him. A lot more than you were willing to admit out loud at least.
“Hey, you,” You yawned, sliding out of the chair as you stretched your body. Hunter closed the door, his hands clenching and unclenching as he watched you. “What’s up?”
“I just…” Hunter sighed, scratching the back of his neck with a blush on his cheeks. “I missed you a lot this week. We didn’t really get to see each other.” He pouts, and your surprise quickly turns to fondness.
“I missed you too, tiger.” You said with a big smile, standing from the chair and engulfing him in a hug. “At least we have next we—“
HOOOOOOONK—
Aaaaaaaand, he’s out.
You grimace playfully, but pull him over to your bed and fall back with him laying on top of you. He’s heavy, but the weight feels comfortable. Hunter, feels comfortable.
You fell asleep with him not soon afterwards. After all, he was a much better cuddle buddy than a wooden desk.

Song while writing:
[ Set somewhere in Thanks to Them, before Halloween ]
---
"Hunter? You still sewing?"
Y/N stuck his head over the banister of the basement stairs, looking over at his boyfriend as he kept sewing patches into the jacket. He glanced up, then went back to pushing the jacket under the needle.
"Yeah. What's up?"
"Nothing," Y/N hummed, coming all the way down the stairs and pulling an extra chair up in front of the desk with the sewing machine- careful to avoid the jacket as it flowed over the edge. He smiled as Hunter stuck the tip of his tongue out in concentration.
"You having fun there?"
Hunter flushed, pausing the machine. He glared at Y/N, pursing his lips.
"Yes I am, actually."
Y/N scoffed playfully, standing and moving behind Hunter. Hunter sat up in his seat and his back audibly cracked as he stretched. Y/N blinked at the noise.
"Have you been sitting all hunched over like that since dinner?" He took Hunter's hands before they could drop to his sides, holding them out to the side to make sure Hunter paid attention to him. The blonde huffed, grinning sheepishly as he leaned his head back, the crown of his head hitting Y/N's stomach. He didn't try and hide the way he nuzzled back to feel more of Y/N against him.
"Yeah. I was focused!"
"You're gonna hurt your back worse than that time at the Knee. When you-"
"When I crashed into the tree on Flapjack, yeah, I remeber." He shook his head, trying to pry himself from his boyfriends hands so he could go back to working. Flapjack chirped, as if to acknowledge the story. He seemed to be laughing.
"Take a break. You can go right back after a minute."
Hunter looked unconvinced, and Y/N let his hands go. When he leaned back over, smirking, he winced. Y/N clicked his tongue.
"Oh, does your back hurt? Like I just said?"
"Alright, alright. What else should I do?"
Hunter stood up, sounding snappy but grinning fondly as he crossed his arms, feigning sass. Y/N rolled his eyes pushing Hunter's forehead affectionately.
"Alright, smartass. Sit down, on your sleeper."
"It's a sleeping bag."
"Same thing!" Y/N laughed. Hunter sat down, crossing his legs and folding his hands in his lap. Y/N sat down behind him, hugging him from behind and pulling him closer to fill in the space between them. Hunter giggled, leaning his head back to Y/N's shoulder. The slightly taller of the two pressed a few Kisses to Hunter's cheek, nuzzling into the space between his jaw and shoulder. He pulled away all at once and Hunter laughed again.
"What are you doing?"
"Lovin' on you. Let me rub your back."
"Seriosuly?" He sighed, yet he still got situated in front of Y/N. The blonde leaned back slightly when Y/N started running his hands over his sweater, and Y/N chuckled.
"Here, slip this off. I'm gonna grab that coconut-lavender lotion that puts you to sleep."
"I'm not a baby." Hunter scoffed, slipping the yellow knit off and tossing it on the couch as Y/N sat back down with the purple bottle.
"You're my baby." Y/N teased, running his fingers through Hunter's hair and pressed another kiss to his cheek. Hunter blushed lightly.
"That doesn't count."
Flapjack fluttered around Hunter's head, then flew upstairs. Hunter tilted his head slightly.
"What do you think he's doing?"
"I don't know. Maybe he's just taking a break. I'm gonna start now, alrighty?"
"Alrighty." He huffed in amusement, leaning back against Y/N's hands as they worked on his back, easing the smaller knots before conquering the bigger ones. He sighed as Y/N worked on his shoulder blades, wincing slightly. Y/N eased up on the area automatically.
"No, no, you're fine. Just feels weird, you know?"
"What, you never had a a massage before? Man, you're missing out."
"Har har." Hunter rolled his eyes and Y/N chuckled.
"Luz says they have massage chairs at their mall. Camila said she might drive us up there after Halloween."
"..are we going to be here that long?"
The question stilled the atmosphere and
Y/N stilled for a moment before starting on the last knot in his back.
"I don't know." He said finally, using the heel of his hand to work the spot. Hunter winced and Y/N apologized. "I.. don't think we'll be home anytime soon. The portal isn't.. going well."
"Yeah." Hunter yawned, then snapped his head to the side to glare at Y/N.
"You tricked me didn't you?"
"What?" Y/N asked, grinning innocently. "No!"
"Yes you did!" Hunter laughed, leaning back do Y/N had to hold his weight with his palms, now that Hunter's back and completely relaxed. Y/N scoffed.
"Yeah, maybe a little bit. I didn't expect it to work." Y/N admitted. Hunter sat back up, stretching to reach his sweater.
He pulled it back on and yawned again, flopping backwards so his head landed on Y/N's lap. His arms fanned out to the side and Y/N laughed. He picked the back of Hunter's head up, helping him scoot up on the sleeping bag so Y/N could open it easier. Hunter laughed as Y/N made a spectacle of unzipping it and fanning it open before lying down on his back.
Hunter automatically crawled on top of him, settling for lying on Y/N's abdomen, slotting the rest of his body between Y/N's legs. One of his sock-clad feet rubbed against the side of Hunter's shin as he sighed, running his fingers through Hunter's hair, playing with the strands and scratching his scalp gently. Hunter hummed, then it turned into a giggle. He propped his chin up on Y/N's stomach carefully so he wouldn't accidentally hurt him.
"I love you. Thank you for the massage."
"Of course, Hunter, it was fun. I love you too." He sat up slightly and Hunter got the message, leaning up so they could press a kiss together.
There was a loud snap from the stairs, and Hunter jumped like a cat. Willow laughed, and soon so did Gus, Amity, and Luz. Y/N was startled into laughing too, falling backwards and covering his face as Hunter stood, face flushed red. There was Flapjack, positioned on Willow's head and looking smug.
"Flapjack! Give me that- Picture!"
He laughed, running up the stairs and after their friends. Y/N laughed to himself from the sleeping bag, rubbing his own scalp to get over the sudden adrenaline rush from being surprised like that.
Titan, he wished they were going to stay here for a little longer.

I relally like this actually! I hope you do too, anon!!

laidback observant s/o hcs ; hunter
Tumblr media
requested by ; just-call-me-m00n (01/05/23)
fandom(s) ; the owl house
fandom masterlist(s) ; main | hunter-only
character(s) ; hunter wittebane
outline ; “Hunter with a gn! Laid-back! observant! s/o?
Reader is super chill and is like, never mad, they also know what's going on through the castle bcs of their observation (reader is in the emperors coven and hunter is in his gg era) and they know all the gossip”
warning(s) ; none, just fluff!
your demeanour is a breath of fresh air for hunter given how hectic things can be whilst working in the coven
it’s like crabs in a bucket, everyone trying to pull each other down in order to better their own position in the coven
and then there was you — someone who was content where you were and who nobody had ever seen in any state other than calm
after working there for three years you were more legend than colleague as people were sure that you must have been hiding a horrible temper or trying to manipulate others into trusting you
but, no
you really were just that laidback
and being so laidback and quiet meant that you were often able to play the silent witness to all of the drama and gossip that circulated through the castle
you knew everything about everyone, but you never said a word — because there was no need to
your boss didn’t need to know that catie was struggling to keep her new triplets in line, or that one of the scouts was down horrendous for one of the coven heads and was planning on confessing soon
it wasn’t relevant to your job so you kept your lips sealed
… except for your boyfriend, that is
no secrets between spouses, after all
you’re one of two people who gets to see him without the mask — without the fake persona and all the cockiness and bravado that it brings
you get to see the real hunter
the geek who can spend hours happily infodumping about wild magic if you let him
the lovable boy who you have matching plush toys with, which he won at a carnival years ago
the sweetheart who loves your calmness and will seek you out after some of his more stressful meetings with his uncle — since he knows you never get angry
the man who is more nosey that anyone gives him credit for, and who will seek you out regularly to discuss and exchange the latest gossip you’ve found out about
these catch ups occur on a daily basis, where you’ll meet up on your lunch break and exchange your tales over good food and drink — all pretences dropped and his mask left aside throughout your chat
then, once your break is over, you’ll share a kiss and promise to meet up again after your shifts are over
and the mask goes on again and your sweet, loving boyfriend goes back to being the overly confident golden guard
ready to do it all again tomorrow
