So now that Go Rush season 4 isn't happening anymore and we're heading towards a new show, these are some points I could see happening for ygo 9 (not necessarily everything what *I* want to see):

getting the first female protag (if Pokémon could do it after 20+ years so can Yugioh but we're probably stuck with another guy)

protag being "red themed" again after Yudias was "blue"

protag having green or blonde hair (bonus for both)

protag being "more serious" compared to Yuga and Yudias

protag having a sibling or looking after kids

ygo 9 taking place in a parallel universe of Sevens and Go Rush (and it's either looking very futuristic or ancient)

ygo 9 being in the far future of Sevens aka still Goha City as the main place but the city is divided (kinda similar to 5D's)

ygo 9 cast being older if not that much like maybe most are like 13/14 at the start of the show (I'd be rather surprised if the protag was 16 or even older)

ygo 9 main cast getting together as a team because they were "chosen" (kinda similar to 5D's)

if the whole deal about Otes isn't resolved in Go Rush, it's definitely going to be in ygo 9

the main summon method is Ritual

references to Sevens and Go Rush but (hopefully) just minor things and NOT actual characters showing up there

I was also thinking about potential names for the protag.

For a guy: Yurei, Yuta, Yuzo, Yushin, Yukito, Yuito, Yuno

For a girl: Yume, Yumi, Yui, Yukari, Yura, Yuko, Yuno
