"why not just make your own website?"
with the announcement of cohost's death and amidst all the other tumultuous shit currently going on with social media as a concept (i am AMAZED twitter has survived this long given the circumstances), one suggestion that i've been hearing a lot is "we should just go back to the good old days of personal websites. let's all just make neocities pages!!"
(this is gonna be a long one sorry)
and like. idk! it's certainly something i've considered, i think it would be a fun thing to have, but it also feels like the equivalent of "capitalism sucks so let's all just run off into the woods and live in a cabin outside of society" to me. like it would be nice, it would be fun, but it doesn't ultimately solve the actual problems that are present with the modern internet, it just evades them. more importantly in my case and many others, it does not really help people who rely on the modern internet and the connections they're able to make there for their income. sure i can make a website and host my art and blog posts there, but who's going to see it? i can't build a consistent audience and make a living off of random passersby who peek at my website once, say "huh, neat!" and MAYBE add it to an RSS feed or whatever if they really like it. there's minimal potential for meeting and impressing new people outside my existing circles if i don't ALSO still have some manner of social media platform to promote the website on.
a lot of the "solutions" i see people proposing for the slow, painful decline of social media as a user experience keep coming back to old-fashioned, more isolated/insular systems. we miss forums, we miss personal webpages, we miss newsletters, etc etc. but like... those things were ideal in the "old web" because the old web was more about sharing hobbies and interests with whoever happened to pass by and check them out, and even just USING the internet was a niche hobby in and of itself for a lot of people. if you wanna be kinda cynical about it (and not unjustifiably so), web 2.0 is much more blatantly business-oriented, and its algorithms and carefully crafted UX's are primarily meant to funnel you towards viewing ads and spending money on products. looking at it that way, it sure does suck and Everything Was Better Before! but the modern web is ALSO more powerful than anything before it for just like. connecting people. spreading information and news. showing your art/music/writing/thoughts/etc to strangers who never knew you existed an hour ago. putting the tools to reach out to someone and tell them you think they're cool right there on the same website where their art is hosted, just a comment or a message away.
if you're able to avoid patterns of engagement-bait and obsessing over follower counts as a measure of self-worth (a big "if", i realize, but i view it like installing an adblocker - it's just kind of a basic prerequisite for modern internet safety and survival), a lot of these systems can genuinely be really positive and life-changing in ways that were simply not possible 20 years ago! almost all of my current closest friends are people I met through sharing our art on platforms like Twitter who were complete strangers at the time. all of the art clients that regularly pay my bills and support my work came from places like that too! the "social" part of "social media" is really what makes it ultimately worth keeping around in any form, and makes the pursuit of a Good social media platform still valuable.
there's a lot to love about the old web - its aesthetics, simplicity and freedom for personal expression - but every time someone says "just delete your socials and make a personal website" i am forced to confront the fact that i could never do what i currently do or be the person i am on the old web. if i was stuck hanging out in my own little space and only ever interacting with people who openly and loudly share my interests, i couldn't support myself with art full-time, i probably would never have met the kind and quiet strangers who are now my best friends and have made me who i am, and i'd just generally get a lot less insight into the vast range of experiences and perspectives that exist outside of my own. my life would be on a fundamentally different trajectory in countless ways without the advent of web 2.0.
and that's not to say "well twitter and facebook and tumblr all suck but you kinda still have to hand it to them" cuz you don't, obviously. they're corporations, and their job is to take the personalities and thoughts and art of the people who use their products and try to scrunch it all into something uninform and marketable that generates profit and pleases their shareholders. but like, you CAN still make a good thing out of them! these websites are tools just as much as geocities or myspace or IRC used to be. and the one thing these newer tools are pretty much all REALLY good at is discoverability. if you're just a hobbyist at the things you wanna share on the internet, then you likely don't have a lot of use for those tools, and perhaps you WOULD genuinely be happier just keeping a personal blog site or hanging out in private groupchats or sticking to specialized federated Mastodon instances or whatever. it just isn't feasible for me, and there are a LOT of people in my same situation. my entire industry of online freelance artists barely existed 20 years ago, and the web culture of that era is largely incompatible with my continued survival in the mid-2020s. i would LOVE to run off and live in the woods in concept, but all my survival skills are adapted for city living and i would just eat the wrong berry and die out there. i want- i NEED people to try and improve the spaces we're in, and support better forms of social media (like what cohost was trying and largely succeeding to do!) instead of just complaining that it all sucks, everything was better when we were kids, and digging ourselves little holes to hide in. much like all the other problems and frustrations and systemic issues of the world we live in, the modern web isn't going to go away if you just ignore it, so we may as well try to make it better for everyone.
anyways tl;dr i probably WILL make a neocities at some point. it could be fun, even if it doesn't help my career stability or whatever. but i do also need ALL THE SOCIAL PLATFORMS I USE FOR MY JOB TO STOP EXPLODING PRETTY PLEASE, and failing that, some actual half-decent alternatives that aren't going to fizzle out in a month would also be great thanks ✌
#buny text#webbed site#long post#sorry this one got embarrassingly long and i probably repeated myself a lot#i've just essentially had this same conversation like 8 times in the past 24 hours and wanted to actually put my thoughts somewhere public#i hope it doesn't come off like i'm snapping at anyone either. i know this suggestion is always made out of a desire to be helpful#and i do appreciate it and have given it no shortage of thought#i just needed to explain why it isn't a viable solution for everyone and why actual good usable social platforms are still important

Watch Out for Skull – Chapter 1
[ao3] chapter links: [ 1 ] [ 2 ]
summary: Lucy takes on a cat-sitting job for a stranger, hoping for a quiet week in a nice London flat, with free food, no bills, and enough time to finish an art commission. But the cat is a menace, and the stranger’s friend is ridiculously charming—and a huge distraction.
rating: T words: 1,669
note: heyy it's me again back with ANOTHER au with Skull as a cat, because it's so damn fun to write. a huge shoutout to my friend @vryfmi for being the sweetest guy ever—his responses to the WIP snippets I shared and his amazing drawings of cat!Skull are things I keep going back to every time writer's block rears its ugly head again, so thank you vry! <3
“How do you feel about cats?”
Lucy looked up. “Cats?”
“Cats,” Holly repeated. She reached out one manicured hand to roll the die and move her piece across the board (Lucy was losing miserably, but it came as no surprise. Holly was a beast at board games). “My friend’s going on a trip this weekend and is looking for someone to cat-sit for a week. He asked me first, but I’m terribly allergic.”
“Which friend?”
“Someone I know from school—George?”
Lucy shook her head. Holly had many connections from her school years (‘posh southern school’, as Lucy once called it, much to Holly’s chagrin) and Lucy was quite content with keeping her distance from them. “Never heard of him.”
“He’s an incredibly smart man. I think he’s going on some sort of research trip.”
As she mulled it over, Lucy rolled the die (a measly 1). “Will he pay?”
“Oh, yes. And he’s promised to stock his kitchen up with nice meals and baked goods.”
This caught her attention. “How long is he away for?”
“A week.”
“What’s the cat like?”
Holly cocked her head. “He’s… interesting.”
Lucy considered this. “And how’s George’s cooking?”
“To die for.”
“I’m sold.”
–––
Lucy checked her phone for the hundredth time.
She stood in front of the door to a flat, overcome with the feeling she was at the wrong place. There was no way an academic who ventures out on research trips would decorate his front door with a sign that said FUCK OFF, I’M WORKING, with a sticker beneath that said COME BACK WITH A WARRANT, right?
Someone loudly cleared their throat behind her. “You gonna knock, or what?”
Lucy whirled around to find a woman—or at least, she assumed it was a woman, but it was somewhat hard to tell beneath the obnoxiously bright puffer coat and wide-brimmed hat. She wasn’t dressed for the weather at all—or, perhaps, she was trying to dress for every single kind at once, if the wellington boots were anything to go by. One of them was tap tap tapping against the floor.
“Er—sorry,” Lucy said, heat flooding her face. “I wasn’t sure if I had the right address. Do you know if a guy named George lives here?”
From beneath the giant hat came a vaguely amused look. One wellington boot took a great big step over to the door, and out of a coat pocket came a fingerless-gloved hand which rapped against the door in a quick, much-too-loud tune. “Let’s find out.”
After a long moment of silent tension (in which Lucy considered whether the cat-sitting gig was worth suffering through the potential social humiliation of it being the wrong door), the door creaked open, revealing a bespectacled man with rather unkempt hair. He squinted at Lucy, but let out a smile upon spotting the puffer coat behind her.
“Flo,” he said in a simple greeting, before turning back to Lucy. “And you are…?”
“Lucy,” she said hurriedly, “Carlyle. I’m here for cat-sitting. We spoke over the phone?”
“Oh, yeah, of course. You’re Holly’s friend. I’m George, and”—an ear-splitting, impertinent meow came from behind him, making him wince—“and that’s Skull. Come in, both of you, but be careful. He’s not meant to go outside.”
“That’s understandable,” Lucy said as she squeezed through the gap he left with the ajar door. “The city can be quite dangerous for cats.”
“Oh, it’s not that I’m worried about. He’s just so fucking annoying, I’d get endless complaints from the neighbours.” George paused. "And, yeah. He'd probably get squashed by a car in the first five minutes.
“He’s a little shit,” the woman—presumably Flo—said as she entered after Lucy.
“Holly did say he was… interesting.”
“That’s one word for him,” George grimaced. “But it’s why I offer food and money for it. Can’t complain about an attention-seeking cat when your mouth’s full of a good curry.”
A small, dark mass circled George’s legs. Skull was a rather lithe cat, and remarkably swift, but what most caught Lucy’s attention was the peculiar markings on his face. Amidst the short, black fur was a cluster of white patches, making his face look like—
“Ah,” Lucy said. “I understand the name now.”
George scooped the black hole into his arms—his sleeves rucked up, revealing an array of undeniably claw-shaped scratches etched across his skin—and gave him a blank stare. Skull stared back, then looked at Lucy, and let out another long yowl.
Both George and Flo frowned.
“He’s usually dead quiet,” Flo said, reaching a hand into her hat to scratch.
Skull continued to stare at Lucy and let out a series of little chirps before wiggling out of George’s grip. Lucy rested her art case—a large, terribly inconvenient thing to carry on the tube, but it was the only thing that would carry all the supplies she needed to work on her current commission—against the wall to free her hands, which she held out to Skull to show him her scent. He gingerly sniffed them before letting out another strange noise.
“He’s usually completely silent,” George agreed. “I’ve never seen him like this before.”
“Does that mean he likes her or hates her?”
George mulled this over. “Maybe both. But before you have a chance to scamper, Lucy, let me show you the kitchen and the freezer stuffed with Tupperware.”
He wasn’t kidding; the freezer truly was jam-packed with servings of various home-cooked meals, ready to be reheated and scoffed. In the fridge was a Swiss roll, freshly baked this morning with the cream still setting, and on the counter was a cooling loaf of bread.
Flo scoffed. “Bloody hell, have you even had time to pack or have you lived in the kitchen for the past week?”
“I’m a master at time management, thank you very much. Use anything you want in this kitchen, Lucy. Also, feel free to use my room for your art stuff. I tidied best I could, but frankly I don’t really care if you get paint anywhere." He eyed her over the rim of his glasses. "As long as it doesn’t get on my comics.”
Lucy blinked in disbelief. A whole week in a nice flat, with a fully-stocked kitchen, no bills or rent, just for looking after one little cat? She couldn’t help feeling like she was swindling this poor man.
George talked her through Skull’s feeding times—a pouch of wet food in the morning, a bowl of biscuits in the evening, be sparing with treats or he’ll just start begging for them 24/7—and pointed out his favourite spots to cause mischief.
“If he gets on the bookshelf, try and get him down, or he’ll gnaw on my books. Also, try and keep him away from the kitchen in general, if you can. He once somehow turned on the hob and almost burnt the place down. And never leave food unattended for long, because he will gobble it all up in a second flat—shit, I need to put that loaf away, actually. Oh, and he can be very trigger-happy with his claws. Try not to startle him.”
Lucy nodded along, wondering if she should be making a note of all this, until George pointed to the small table in the kitchen. “It’s all written on there, in case you forget.”
“…On the table?”
“The cloth,” George clarified. “That reminds me…” He rummaged around in a cupboard and produced a pen, which he handed to Flo. She took it from him with glee and made a beeline to the table. “She likes to leave something on it every time she visits. It’s practically tradition, now. Don’t draw another dick, Flo, be more creative.”
“Fuck off. I’m drawing another dick.”
Lucy felt a weight against her shin and looked down to find Skull head-butting her. When he caught her eye, he let out another yowl.
“That really is weird,” George mused. “You’ve got my number, just in case. The numbers for the vet and their emergency line are on the fridge, too.”
Lucy sucked her teeth. “Hopefully I won’t need those.”
“Nah. You’ll be alright.” He pointed to Skull. “Don’t be a knob. I’ll only be gone for a week.”
Skull head-butted Lucy’s leg again.
Flo rucked up one puffy sleeve to reveal a watch. “We need to get a move-on. Train’s leaving soon.”
“Yeah, yeah. Give me a minute.”
“Oh, are you going with him?” Lucy said, glancing between the two of them. Holly had mentioned George had a research partner. She was certain they were shagging—though she’d phrased it in a politer, more Holly way (something along the lines of “more than platonic”, or “having intimate relations”, or a similarly silly roundabout way of saying it). It only just dawned on Lucy that this may be the shagging research partner in question.
“Yeah. He’d be lost without me.”
“I heard that!” George called from the bedroom. He emerged soon after, sporting a large bag on his back not dissimilar to the one currently weighing Flo down. Stood together, they were an interesting, but definitely odd pair.
Lucy narrowed her eyes. Yeah, she could see it.
She followed them as they waddled to the door, eyes bright and ready to make new contributions to the academic world.
Flo reached for the handle, but George held up a hand in warning. “Watch out for Skull.”
Right on cue, the creature sped for the door. He attempted to whizz through Lucy’s legs, but in one swift motion, she plucked him off the floor and into her arms. In response, he looked her dead in the eyes and screamed.
“Oh, that was smooth,” George said, with a hint of admiration. “Yeah, you’ll be just fine.”
She waved them off down the hallway as George reminded her to call if anything went wrong.
Then suddenly, she was alone.
Skull cried out again and butted her arm.
Well, not quite.
end note: don't worry, Lockwood fans—he may not be present now, but trust me when I say those lanky legs appear in literally every chapter after this one thanks for reading! comments/reblogs are always appreciated, and my ask box is always open! :)

astro observations pt. iii
✧ pluto in aquarius, pisces in saturn, and the reprise of the independent artist (predictions) ✧
hi! I hope you’ve been doing well. I’ve been thinking a lot about Saturn lately and I wanted to talk about some observations and make some predictions with Saturn in Pisces transit.
✧ For context, Saturn rules over the signs Capricorn and Aquarius in traditional astrology (in modern astrology Aquarius is also ruled by Uranus). The planet carries out themes of structure, laws, restriction, discipline, responsibility, obligation, and ambition.
✧ Those with Saturn energy more prominent in their chart (for example as a cap/aqua rising or midheaven, in one’s personal planets, a heavily aspected Saturn, etc.) usually feel this weight of responsibility from Saturn often in the form of some karma (wishing you guys love). But usually, the people that do these placements dirty get a much mightier punch from karma than the placements.
✧ Everyone, however, will feel the effects of Saturn in their life most notably during the Saturn return when transiting Saturn returns to its original place in one’s natal chart every 28-32 years. If one puts in the work towards their Saturn placement, they will be rewarded. If not, one will be disciplined (so I’ve seen and heard — I haven’t had mine yet. For an amazing in-depth explanation, check out this post).
Okay, now that the foundation’s been laid, let’s dive in:
✧ Saturn has recently moved into Pisces. Since Pisces is ruled by Neptune and Neptune is associated with the entertainment industry (in terms of illusions and camera and music), I think the recording industry is in for some MAJOR karma. When Pluto was in Capricorn (which it will return to until it goes direct again back in Aquarius) the business side of the industry really choked out the music side. The focus of music as an art and a medium was thrown out for a machine of constantly churning out singles from artists and working them to death. Very money hungry too. However, when Pluto finally settles in Aquarius for good, I think things will shift in the artists’ favor.
✧ I think a lot of the corruption of the music industry will be aired out to the public, with maybe some changes in how the business side runs. The judicial system might get involved too. It has been for a little while now, with more bills in action for songwriters to be paid fairly and more as they are one of, if not the most underpaid people in the industry.
✧ In a way, justice is already coming in with the writer’s strike currently happening too. Aquarius rules change and rebellion, and Pisces can be seen in association with Hollywood. ✧ I also think the route of going independent will be the new normal for a lot of people. But lately, so many label artists have been dropping their labels to go independent to have more creative control over their music and what they put out. Honestly, to release more often too.
✧ For many artists, there are two options: signing to a label or going independent. Having the label’s backing used to be very beneficial, they could get you in rooms with artists, offer you a great push in promotion for your music, act as an in during award season — basically fund your entire career and set you up for success. But today, that isn’t the case. The labels these days are putting all the work on the artists to promote themselves, holding their music hostage if their views aren’t good enough. They offer little to no artist development and are fully dependent on the artist already having a great following before signing them. They’re signing influencers and not artists. Not to mention they take a majority of your earnings from your music as a way to pay them back, they see their artists as a loan, property. ✧ Now the alternative to this is going independent. Here an artist has no label so they’re in complete creative control of their music, and they don’t owe a big corporation money for freedom essentially. However, they don’t have the perks and ins as a signed artist, so it’s much harder to get into the right rooms, get promotions, etc.
✧ With Pluto in Aquarius and Saturn in Pisces, there’s a strong sense of rebellion, change, and individuality. People are getting sick and tired of the same kinds of artists these labels are putting out, it’s not good enough anymore. People are missing good music, music that makes you truly feel something. GOOD LYRICS GOOD GOD (I’m gonna try not to rant on that but when I tell you I’m so passionate about this it’s insane). Also, there are a lot of artists doing incredibly well making great music from the heart that makes people feel, on their own with no label backing.
✧ d4vd originally went viral for his song Romantic Homicide, but he made it in Bandlab singing his vocals into a pair of wired Apple earbuds. The quality wasn’t top tier, but it made people feel something; it felt raw, authentic, an “individual” experience millions could relate to. Now it’s his most streamed song sitting at 600+ million streams.
✧ I think Saturn will reward those who make true music from their soul, that makes them feel handsomely.
✧ I also think there will be a stronger emphasis on community and connections. I think artists will lean into make music with people they like and trust like friends instead of strangers hired by a label, because that’s what they’re more comfortable with.
✧ Also with the sense of community (Pluto in Aquarius), the same could be said for playlisting and music sources and going to new places to find new music instead of traditional radio — which i feel like is already happening. I personally don’t listen to the radio anymore (mind you I don’t have a car) but I don’t even listen to the Spotify editorial playlists either. I get 99 percent of my music recommendations from my TikTok algorithm.
✧ I don’t think the AI shit is going to take off. People freaked out about NFTs and virtual reality and no one says zip about those things now. I don’t think there will be a dip in these technologies but I don’t think they will wreck enough havoc to effect artists and other creatives. The entertainment industry at its core relies on people taking the human experience and making art from it. How can one do that if they are not human? Especially right now when I think Aquarius brings out a strong sense of authenticity and truth that will only be amplified when Saturn goes into Aries.
✧ There might be an increase of older artists in the music industry (25+ years old debuting). Saturn rewards those who put in the hard work and if an artist has been doing so for about 30 years towards being an artist, their reward may be being in the limelight.
✧ Someone else mentioned this in their post here and I wanted to bring it up because I found it so interesting. They mentioned that with Pluto in Aquarius the effects of Leo will also be amplified by Pluto bringing back the need for stars again — I agree with them so much. From my perspective, from now on I feel like being popular and looking pretty won’t be enough, you need to bring something to table. A little two-step or a tune? Please I’m starving. The Aquarian energy just screams for authenticity (I’m saying that word a lot yes I know) but I feel like this in tandem with Pisces’ need for a stronger connection and nothing surface level will really push out an urge for talent.
Alright that's all for right now. I’ll post more general
Saturn observations tomorrow.
see ya soon!

Heyo, hope you're doing well and healing from surgery continues to go smooth. I'm not sure if this was asked before and hope it's an okay ask. How do you usually allocate your time between doing commissions, personal art, life, and everything in between?
let me start with: i have a very very unhealthy work life. i'm not gonna sugarcoat it, not gonna glorify The Grind™ because What I Do Is Unhealthy. It's an ongoing issue, and in recent months I've been trying to do more to fix it.
I habitually put in 12+ hour days, often five or six days of the week. I will be at my tablet from dawn until dusk. This isn't always spent drawing; it's also emails, website updates, menial administrative things and promoting my work. This is solely because I am a chronic workaholic. Even as I was recovering from this major surgery at the beginning of the month, Physically Unable to do much for the first week, my mind kept fussing over the work I needed to get done when I got back. It's Very difficult for me to relax and simply Do Nothing.
Now, this isn't to say I don't see people or talk with friends. I do, I socialize as much as my introverted self can handle. But my work has very plainly taken over my life to the point that it's eclipsed any personal alone time I could have. Tragically, it's a double-edged sword. I would love to be whisking my matcha and enjoying it in a little sunbeam but alas, bills keep knockin at my door.
That, and I genuinely Do Love working!! I love drawing for people!!
ALL THAT SAID THOUGH, I recently relocated over the summer. My new location offers a lot more opportunity to separate work and personal time with a physical barrier. It's easy to say "oh I can do little a work as a treat" when your tablet is Right There. Now that it's jailed in its own room I've found it a bit easier to say "no, I need a breather today actually" and sit down on my balcony and simply watch the world or play the video games I've been neglecting all year. I'm also making adjustments with my workload to better fit the schedule I need. If I keep chipping at this and taking the breathers I'm supposed to, I should have it all sorted by the end of the year. I have amazing people behind me kicking my ass and swatting me with a broom every time I try to overwork, and I'm grateful to have them to keep me in check while I straighten out my work-life balance. I have so many MXTX books I need to finish I want to read about my blorbos so bad ;;
TLDR: I work too much and am doing my best to get a grip on it. I want to be able to actually take a Real vacation for a month someday.

Just wanted to ask what your *favorite* like, Top 10 furniture/build cc is? also where we could get it? sry if you dont do asks i just like your stuff
Hey! Okay, this is SUCH a hard question asdfghjhgfd so i'm gonna be super annoying and do a broader version with some of my favourite buildbuy creators. because i am not joking when i say i could easily list like hundreds of my top cc asdfghjkjhgfdfghjjhgf i hope thats okay!!!
asdfghjjhgf this post uhm. got away from me and ended up being SO LONG lmao but i think its worth it!
@teekalu
If you like retro/mid century modern style cc, then teekalu's stuff is ESSENTIAL!!!!!!
literally obsessed with their colour palettes! everything matches SO nicely and you could easily decorate whole rooms/houses with just their stuff alone
THE WALLPAPERSSSSSSSSSSSSS argh my ultimate favourite!!!! like, i mean it when i say that if i could only have one set of CC in my mods folder and nothing else, it would be teekalu's wallpapers. i use them in every single build ever and would actually be bereft without them
not JUST build buy cc but also lots and cas cc!!!! and its all amazing and such a vibe!!!!
@pictureamoebae
did somebody say colour options? because there's COLOUR OPTIONS GALORE!!!!!!
MATCHING!!!!!!!!! leading on from the point about colour options, most of her cc comes in MULTIPLE colour palette options, so the options for matching different sets is ENDLESS. seriously, it's like, incredible and sooooooo appreciated
awesome mix of build AND buy!!! i must admit that i go ham mostly on her wallpaper cc (are we sensing a theme here? listen i hoard wallpaper cc like there's no tomorrow i cant help it) BUT the buy items are ALSO AMAZING???? and again, everything MATCHES!!!!!!!! oh, AND there's some incredible builds, too?!?!? the talent!!! and it would be remiss not to mention that pictureamoebae is like, the reshade master
@kiwisim4
as we all know by now, i LOVE quirky cc. if it's colourful and fun, i'm THERE, and kiwisim4's content totally fits that bill
the tui series is my FAVOURITE!!! the COLOUR! the STYLE! the PIZAZZ!
ANDDDDD for those who want something a lil' more mainstream and less super specific, there's also a bunch of other sets in different styles that can fit any type of aesthetic and decor choice!
FOR EVERY ROOM TOO! kitchens? bathrooms? studies? living rooms? kids bedrooms? check, check, check, check and CHECK!
@zx-ta
aight buckle up y'all because i am constantly perplexed that zx-ta doesn't receive more love because LET ME TELL YOU, her cc is SO! FREAKING! GOOD! STOP READING MY POST RN AND GO CHECK OUT HER CREATIONS!!!!!
truly consider this to be the swiss army knife of cc creation - you want ts3 and ts2 to ts4 conversions? what about medieval and historical cc? genius additions to existing game content like separated sinks? wall art? planters? WELL HERE IT IS! literally every style/aesthetic/era/furniture type you could ever wish for
ik i mentioned it already but the SEPERATED SINKS!!!!! GENIUS! GALAXY BRAINED! also the movie hangout kitchen set IS SOOOOOOOOO GOOOD
@sforzcc
aaaaaaaand no build/buy cc list of mine would be complete without mentioning the incredible sforzinda. listen, if you see cool clutter in any of my pics, there's a 90% chance its by them
aight they do truly chefs kiss CAS cc, BUT, i am OBSESSED with their separated clutter sets in particular. how many times have you looked at game asset and thought, hey, there's some rlly cute bits in this but then its like, part of a MASSIVE object that you never really use. well, sforzinda basically solves that time and time again and me and my mods folder are SO thankful. AND THE WALL ART ITEMS!!!!! THE MESH EDITS!!!!!!!!!
my most favourite one is undoubtedly the separated little campers clutter set, but also THE HIGH SCHOOL YEARS BED PACK!!!! ARGH!!!! SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!
im sorry i didnt like answer your question really asdfghjhgfds i just, i have SO many favourites id never be able to narrow it down asdfghjhgfds. if you (or anyone else!) ever wants like a specific idk top beds, top coffee tables, top floors etc tho pls let me know because i'd definitely be able to make myself be SLIGHTLY more specific then asdfghjhgfdsdfghj. this was rlly fun tho!!! thank you so much for your ask, I hope this was at least a wee bit useful asdfghjkjhgfdfghjkjhg

More amazing games this last couple of months! Mostly from crowd funds, but with a couple of birthday gifts and the first installment of Zine Club in the mix!!
Here's a breakdown with some "why I wanted to check 'em out" hype!
DCC - Sailors on a Starless Sea: I recently got a copy of Dungeon Crawl Classics, and asked folks in the Plus One Exp Discord for recommendations, because I'd seen a few of 'em talk about DCC. This had at least two people recommend it! So, I'll be skimming it.
Emerald Templars: I was initially intrigued because of the South American creators and focus of the game, and can't wait to explore it further. The art and the overall quality of the book look great, and I definitely love seeing Fantasy stuff that's not Euro-centric.
Lichoma: Billed as a "meatpunk" game, I really needed to know what that meant. It's a dark, violent and interesting game with some neat mechanics (at least per the stream I watched).
Convictor Drive: This hit crowdfunders around the same time as the Dark Souls 5e came out, and I think while the Cowboy Bebop RPG was crowdfunding. So I was on a kick of really wanting to see more Japanese games get translated and brought stateside, which this was. It's an exosuit procedural super-detective kind of game, which intrigued me, even beyond the JP angle.
Overisles, Inspirisles, and the Shaping Deck: This one I'd been aware of for a while, having gotten Overisles in a Bundle years ago. It's an RPG that uses American or British Sign Language as part of the mechanics. It's supposed to help you learn ASL or BSL, and I've always been curious about those languages. The books are gorgeous, and they came with a pin and 2 really beautiful booksmarks
The Wizards & the Wastes: Big fan of Snow's work in general, but what got me (aside from the Howl's Moving Castle touchstone) was the ability to use art you already own (books, poems, music) as a focus for your character's magical abilities. It's a really gorgeous book and I've been wanting to bring it to a table. I also really love the mechanic where you bring someone from outside the game in to solve disputes.
Crush Depth Apparition: Spooky submarine horror is a good concept on its own, but I was also excited because it just looked so stylish. Plus, another thing through Snow's store, so I was into it.
Girl by Moonlight: Sailor Moon but make it Forged in the Dark. I'm in! Partner and I have been watching the original Sailor Moon. I've been playing and enjoying Beam Saber, and I kind of love the way FitD games deal with character growth.
Wreck this Deck: The pitch is: You trap demons in a deck of cards, and actually mark the cards as you go, creating a neat artifact of play as you go. So after a few plays, you have this really ominous deck of cards, some of which are super messed up or even missing. It's a rad idea, and I'm looking forward to messing up a $3 Bicycle deck.
Guys in Chairs/Spin The Bottle: This is part of the Zine Club shipment for the month, but I'm also a big fan of Dillin's work. I heard them play Guys in Chairs on Party of One, and it's a great game.
1978 - The Night They Came Home (and a Trick-or-Treat bag with rollable tables because why not): I backed this before I ever saw Halloween, but having gotten into those movies this past spooky season, I'm really into this. 2-player game where one of you is the killer, and the other is the person trying to run.
Fox Curio's Floating Bookshop: This looks beautiful, pastoral, and I love a good spiral binding. It's a journaling RPG about someone who runs a bookshop that floats up and down the river. It's super cute and I love it.
Nasty, Brutish, and Long: Friends at the Table put me in a revolutionary action mood, but I also really like the work that Not Writing Games puts out. Also been on a bit of a FitD kick lately (as previously established). I'm also going to pass by making jokes about the name.
The Corrupted: The other half of the Zine Club shipment for the month. I've heard extremely good things about this, and zombie horror is a fantastic genre in general. So I'm hype to dig in.
Hark! Says the Frog Magus: When this was first announced, I was bummed because I'd just lost my job and wasn't sure I'd be able to justify a purchase. So, a friend preordered it as a birthday gift (same friend later got me a different gift because they're a monster). Sin's work in general is rad, and this is adorable but also a great adventure, so I needed it.
I will take a second to highlight these two!
They came from the Plus One EXP Zine Club, and the sticker did too! And it's such a rad thing. A monthly subscription that brings some zines to my door, supports indie creators, and keeps the lights on for a community I care about. All Wins all the time.
I also received the expansion for Return to Dark Tower. I haven't really played Covenant yet, but I'm excited to try it out, because it adds some rad new models and some cool new classes, and a whole bunch of new skulls for the Tower.

Money Makes the World go Round! (Sigh)
If money were not a factor in my life, everything would be going exactly as I had hoped. There would be no doubt in my mind that I couldn't get through what I'm trying to get through right now-- but this just isn't the case because of money. And trying to solve your money problems somehow makes things worse. The added stress of finally having the thing you need to survive yet not knowing how to manage it. The older you get, the more the cliche sayings you've grown up hearing make sense. I try not to stress because I don't want to be that kind of person; the kind that lets money rule their every move. Life is much greater than that, despite what capitalism may want you to believe. So, during this time of chaos in my life, I'd like to turn the root of my issue into less of a villain, and hopefully that way feel a little more secure. I'll be doing that by listing a few good things that money has brought us, more specifically me.
Lady Bird (2018, Greta Gerwig)
There is no such thing as a perfect movie-- with the one exception of course: Lady Bird. Every shot, actor, line, angle, design-- everything about that movie lands exactly in the nooks of my brain where there are missing pieces. I never knew the impact of film until watching this movie. It is the perfect adaptation of being a selfish, ambitious, and (ashamedly) admittedly resentful daughter of a deeply loving parent with just as strong as a personality as your own. This makes the list because no movie can be made without a budget, but more specifically, the budget for this film made it what it was. Director Greta Gerwig was working with a 10-million-dollar budget (the things I would do for 10 million Washingtons), and while that is enough of a reason to make the list, one of the greatest things to happen to the film was the camera used for filming. Due to budget constraints, Gerwig had to film on a different camera than she had intended to use and add filters and effects in post-production. Of course, we'll never know what the movie would have looked like if filmed on a different camera, but I can confidently say I don't care to. I meant it when I wrote it the first time: this movie is perfect for every aspect of its production. Thus, money (or lack thereof) led this film to be the amazing work of art that it is.
2. Personalized checkbook designs
I have oddly specific memories from when I was younger of looking at the mail that my mom brought inside. Among those flyers, envelopes and bills was almost always a catalog containing a variety of personable checkbook designs to help your checks stand out from the crowd! I was never old enough to pick one out for a checkbook of my own, and by the time I was, checkbooks had checked out. But I think it's cute that the need to quickly share money led to a business surrounding the personalization of sed slips. I loved the kitten designs and always thought I would have my own someday. Personalization in this world is really important, yet frequently overlooked. Therefore, I think this is perfect for the list. Let's not forget who we are, even when we're losing our heads over money.
3. Thrift stores
If it weren't for the stressor or money and the inability for everyone to access it equally, thrift stores wouldn't have a use. I see thrift shopping as treasure hunting. I've found a plethora of unique items in thrift stores that would otherwise have been thrown away. Its a really interesting way to pass the time as well-- you could spend hours in one thrift store picking up different items of clothing wondering what stories and lives had been lived in them before they ended up in your hands. On top of thrift stores housing these items for a little longer than their life expectancy, they're cheap! And that's the point of this entry, right? The world would be a much lovelier place is things were cheaper-- or even affordable would do.
4. All you can eat pancakes at IHOP
It was only for a limited time, but it was fun while it lasted. I can't remember the last time something so amazing only cost $5. It was so short-lived I didn't even have a chance to try my hand at a never-ending pancake stack. But If I had to guess, I could have probably eaten 8 pancakes, putting me at about 63 cents per pancake--that's a deal. That's a beautiful thing that only a little bit of money (at one point) could buy you.
5. $5 movie Tuesdays
Cinema has got the be one of the greatest things to happen to artists. Film deserves to be displayed on big screens, but the modern-day movie ticket is kind of ridiculously priced-- unless you want to hit the theater on a TUESDAY! I honestly don't know why this discount came to be, but it came back around in 2022 after being dismissed just after the COVID pandemic began. This took a serious toll on AMC, and the company almost went to Bankruptcy that year. Alas, the conglomerate stands as top dog in the movie realm, and I don't mind (especially on Tuesdays).
Thank you for taking the time to read my short list of nice things that money has been able to give me. My frustrations remain, but I feel a little happier to remember that I'm lucky enough to have the money to participate in the things that I enjoy. I hope you can find a few dollars in your pocket and spend it on something you like-- you deserve it. And remember, don't let money drive you crazy. You're smarter than that.

Hi moots and whoever else sees this post
I’m flying out to see my buddy and I’m currently on layover. I just wanted to share what happened on my last plane because I am SO squishy and happy over it
So I draw when I’m on planes. I can’t ever sleep on them and there’s no internet (I’m not paying) so I just listen to downloaded playlists I have and I draw. Today was no different, I was drawing my persona in a new outfit.
I went up to go to the bathroom and when I came back, the people in the seats behind me were like “YOU! YOURE AMAZING” and the guy in the aisle seat offered me a fist bump. At first I did not get it but I picked up that they’ve been watching me draw for the entire flight and they’re absolutely floored by my art /pos
It made me SUPER happy. I showed them the lineart I finished and they were all commenting on how gorgeous the character is (made me feel nice because she looks a lot like me). So when I went to colour the piece I made sure my phone was angled so the people behind me could continue to watch. I don’t mind being watched while I draw and it made me happy that they were enjoying it.
I make it through most of my colouring before I feel a tap on my shoulder. Turn around and the guy in the aisle seat holds out a tiny origami crane made out of a dollar bill, he says it’s a thank you for letting them all watch me draw.
Im already giddy and happy as is but. This is literally the first time ive ever gotten MONEY from my art? I didn’t even give it away or anything, and it was only a dollar, but just the single dollar crane meant so much more to me than I think the guy who gifted it knows.
Anyway I finished colouring and I offered my phone to the three behind me and the girl in the middle seat borrowed it to go show the people sitting across from them what I was drawing, explaining I’ve been doing this the whole flight and they’ve been watching. She gave it back once like everyone in that row had witnessed my drawing and it absolutely made my day
As I got off the plane, one of the guys in the seats across from those people walked alongside me and he told me that my art is beautiful and that my style could make really beautiful tattoos. I stopped at the gate after he walked away to check where I was going next and the guy from the aisle seat walked up behind me and gave me a fist bump as the two girls waved before wandering off. He told me that with my artistic ability I should look into getting an ipad for drawing. Told me again that my art’s great before he walked off
I have NOT been able to wipe the smile off my face since all that happened, Its been like 20 minutes
Anyway here’s the crane I dunno if I even have it in me to spend it, I tucked it into my backpack. Maybe I’ll just display it as a tribute to this great memory
#eely rambles#the art I’m making is kind of lowkey spoilers for my friends who all follow me but when I finish it I might share it here#I’ll just. not give context and hope they don’t figure it out /j/j

i should be asleep right now... oh well!
i know that i have mentioned being at a fork in the road in my life before, and i'm gonna reiterate that but from a slightly different perspective. i feel like the last year and a half has been especially challenging and unsatisfying for me lately. i've continued to not achieve many of my personal goals, i am unhappy at my career job that i've worked my whole life to get to, i've lost more friends than ever, either due to conflicts or just people moving on, and i've continued to be single throughout this whole time. this we all know. until now i hadn't realized that this "era" of my life was coming to an end. i'm still in my 20's, but i think the early 20's ARE different from the later 20's and i have been trying to chase the high of my early 20's. even now, typing this out i have a hard time accepting this reality.
the last five years really shaped me to be who i am today, they informed my worldview, my interests, lead me to the many friends i've made, given me so many unforgettable experiences. who wouldn't want to hold onto that? but now, in 2023, at 25, i have lost a few friends, and many current relationships do not seem to satisfy me the way they did before. i feel like i have lost my sense of self a bit, and been distracted by nostalgia and quick-fix hits of dopamine, desperately clinging to the fragments of my past. i am also being faced with the harsh reality of adult life. things are expensive, responsibilities are mounting, and i am more independent than ever. i HAVE to be there for myself. i have to make sure that things get taken care of and that i take care of myself. i did get my license and a car just recently which checked off a couple of life goals in one foul swoop, however even that carries the burden of additional bills, maintenance, and safety risks.
the true fork in the road of my life is the decision of clinging to my past and trying to make the most of it, things mostly staying the same yet i try to improve myself despite that, OR i make a drastic change that forces me to deal with many obstacles in the pursuit of renewed excitement for life and boosted self-confidence. i already know which one i SHOULD go with, and my bias was pretty obvious there, but when does the point come where i stop talking and start taking action? and what will my future look like after making that decision? i will be devastated having to leave everything i know and love behind (of course friends and family will remain in contact and maybe even visit), but will i be able to thrive in a new setting? will i be able to put myself out there and cultivate a new pool of friends, find new places i love to go to, find an affordable place to stay, and get back to that happiness i've known before?
when i think of a snapshot of the last few years where i was really happy, i think of working a closing shift at the store alongside my really amazing friends, and then after work, going to someone's apartment and just hanging out and chatting. lights are low and warm, there's art on the walls and plants and cats all around us, and we're drinking wine and chatting about the day, chatting about our lives, things we like and don't like, and maybe occasionally going outside at night for a smoke break. then at the end of it all, i'd bike or walk home, maybe take the bus if its still running. then the next morning i wake up when i wake up, make breakfast and maybe go for a walk, hang at the coffee shop or go to the gym, then get ready for work and the cycle continues.
i was watching a favorite TV show tonight and was moved to tears by a wedding scene that took place within it. of course its a dramatization of real life, but i do believe there are people who experience the love that they displayed on this show. i feel i deserve that level of connection with someone, and i am manifesting it for myself. however this is not something i feel i have experienced before. i have had intense crushes on people (again, we all know this already) but with nothing reciprocated i have not yet felt this love where i would take a bullet for someone. (does that make me a bad person?)
in an ideal world i move to a new city and find something like this for myself. whether it be something almost exactly like this or a new "version" of this experience, i think it will make me feel happy again. of course there are all the other things i want to do to make myself happy, working out and eating right, creating more art and fleshing out my musical ability, and doing things with friends. i know i can achieve all of these things and then some, the car and license are proof of that, and also a tool that will help me achieve these things, but i do have to find the strength to stop talking and start doing.

Do you still read the newspaper or have an online newspaper subscription? I have to check the news everyday for work purposes. That's multiple websites of newspapers, their social media accounts, and online magazines.
What's your favourite kind of meat? (vegan/vegetarian options count!) Chicken. I only like pork as pork belly tbh, and steak for me is always a hit or miss.
Have you ever been mistaken for staff at a store you were just visiting? Maybe once or twice; it doesn't happen often. I've been mistaken more frequently as someone's companion. Like people will think they're talking to their friend when it's me.
What's the coolest or most memorable animal you've ever seen at a zoo? The Philippine eagle, but I don't really get *amazed* per se when I see 'cool' animals at zoos. I just feel bad.
Do you share a bedroom with anybody? No. My sister and I tried to share a room once, but it lasted for all of a week because she hated sharing a room with anyone lol. The room also felt super cramped so we quickly decided it wasn't going to work.
What colour are the public buses where you live? We have these white mini-buses that'll pass by here every now and then, and they're white. The bigger buses that traverse Edsa are white and yellow if I'm not mistaken.
How often do you pay your utilities bills? I'm not assigned to any bills in particular, but I transfer to my parents' accounts twice a month. I let them decide how to allot the money.
What video game have you played the most hours of? If you don't know, just make a rough guess. I would guess The Sims 2; that or GTA San Andreas.
Do you own a two-piece bikini? I only own bikinis; I hate how one-pieces feel.
Is there anybody else in the room you're in right now? Nopes.
What have you got within reaching distance of you right now? My phone, my McDonald's orders, pillows, chargers, blanket, work chair, vape.
What have you been craving lately, food-wise? Anything non-food? McDonald's. I overordered last night because I was hungry so I got all my favorites lmao - a triple cheeseburger, large fries, and nuggets.
Is your short-term or long-term memory worse? My short-term memory is horrible; it comes as a disadvantage especially at work and I wouldn't blame my co-workers if they label me as forgetful.
Do you do anything in particular to help you fall asleep? I need to have videos on with the volume at the lowest setting. To avoid draining my battery I have a timer set so that when it runs out my phone will automatically turn the video off.
What was the weather like today? Too early to tell; it's only 7:20 AM. Right now the sun is out but I also wouldn't be surprised if it suddenly rains super aggressively later on in the day as that pattern has been happening lately.
Who will you see within the next week? My dentist, and I am guessing Angela, Hans, and Reena. We've been dying to go to the karaoke these days and I think we'll finally get to next Monday as it will be a public holiday.
Do you have any guilty pleasure music? Anything you're willing to admit in this survey answer? Idk if there's any? I don't feel guilty about anyone whose songs I like.
What was the last movie you watched that was over two hours long? It's been so long since I watched a long movie. It was probably either Titanic or Gone with the Wind.
Speaking of which, what's the longest you think a movie should be? I personally think most movies are too long. It depends on the plot and execution, so I'm not very nitpicky when it comes to this. If a movie needs to be 7 hours long to get its message and art across then so be it.
Do you know anyone who is a medical nurse or doctor? Yes so many people. I'm Asian (aka kids are pressured to be doctors) and Filipino (aka a heavyweight in nursing), so it checks out hah.
Have you ever worked night shifts? If so, did you like it? I have not. I once scored a job interview that would have been a night shift if I got the gig, but at the last minute I decided I didn't want to be in it so I didn't push through with the interview.
Are you good at fixing computer problems? I'd say just basic ones but I'll struggle with even those sometimes, so for the most part no. I leave the troubleshooting to my sister.
Do you tend to make decisions by following your heart or your head? Head.
What's the population of your current city/town? A little below one million.
Do your parents live in their hometown(s)? Nope.
What are you wearing today? My favorite purple pajamas.
Are you one to accessorise a lot? Not at all.
What language other than English do you know the most words of? Filipino.
When was the last time you ate? Did you eat something nice? I'm taking a few bites out of my cheeseburger every now and then this morning. Like I said, I overordered McDonald's last night because I was hungry LOL so most of the shit I got is still here with me today. The only thing I finished last night was the fries and that's because there's no way you can save fries that have gone cold.

If anyone could throw me and my roommate like $50 to get by until my next check, that would be really amazing because we have $3, and no food for tomorrow, and my roommate has been out of one of his meds for a while. Additionally, I have to call the Dr tomorrow because I'm having seizures, which is new. I won't be able to afford the appointment I need (GP and neuro) because my next check is going alp to bills too. So it'll probably get put off for a while at least. If anyone wants to help with that, I know its going to be at least $600 total because my roommate has already been through these same appointments. If anyone wants proof, dm me. I do art and take commissions at my art blog @theartistrans

You should read The Last Girl Scout
Did you know that I, award-winning speculative fiction author Natalie H. Ironside, have written like a real book that you can buy and hold physically in your hands? Exciting!
The Last Girl Scout is a dystopian adventure story about queer hillbillies going on a big adventure in the irradiated ruins of Old America. If you liked Fallout or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or all things American Gothic then I got five bucks says you’ll like this. Plus it’s got lesbians in it &and they are in love & they even hold hands.
The past lies like a nightmare over the world. Two hundred years after the War when atomic fire rained from the skies and burned the world to cinders, human civilization has had time to rebuild within the burned-out husk of Old America. But the old terrors of the past still persist, and while some work to build a better world, others still dream of reclaiming the glory of the Old World. In southern Appalachia, political commissar Magnolia Blackadder is sent on a mission into the irradiated Exclusion Zone of Old DC, where an evil that humanity thought it had vanquished centuries ago is waking up and rebuilding its strength. Along the way, she meets a strange woman with terrible secrets and an unspeakable past, and as they forge a bond and brave the terrors of the wasteland together, she learns that some demons are not so easily exorcised, and that some stones are better left unturned. In this her debut novel, award-winning author Natalie Ironside delivers a new vision of the post-apocalypse, a tale of adventure, terror, love, and that most basic and most powerful of all human desires: Freedom.
“But Natalie,” you say, “of course I want to support queer fiction and read this post-apocalyptic wasteland adventure transbian romance story, but how can I become a part of this true and amazing way?” Well, I’ll tell you!
