Till do u like cell biology
// hi anon. I would like you to know that you single-handedly broke my 2 week streak (yes. Two week streak) of listening to WxS’ Cyberpunk Dead Boy on repeat because of this ask.
A little Story time here for context
I took biology last year and my teacher showed us videos of this guy named Glenn Wolkenfield who is a bio teacher that makes biology songs. She showed us the Glycolosis music video first, and that started me down the rabbit hole of his songs.
They go SO hard and they single handedly became the reason why i passed that class. I enjoyed them so much that i ended up learning the song about the Krebs cycle song on guitar.
This ask ended up fucking unlocking that memory in my brain, and now im listening to the songs again.

Thank you for single handedly ruining my Spotify wrapped two weeks before it comes out.
This is probably going to be my only answer ooc because it literally unlocked a memory I totally forgot about. These songs are gonna be on repeat for the rest of the day.
But to answer your question, no he doesn’t like cell biology, the only thing he likes about it is drawing the cell diagrams

for the character headcanons thing - the spn lads (if u want more specificity, any changes between your regular spn headcanons and the love it takes series specifically)
Send “📂“ for a random yet completely useless headcanon I have
These are specific to the love it takes, but could be canon if you squint.
Dean: is a never-nude. Hates being naked. Even showers are on thin ice for him. The more layers he can be wearing, the better. Feels more comfortable in the bedroom if he at least gets to keep his socks on. Is thankful that Cas doesn't know/doesn't care enough to ask about it.
Sam: does NOT wear sandals, because then you can tell how short his jeans actually are. Dean calls him a fussy shopper because Sam can and will spend his free time checking up on the nearby thrift stores to see if there are any jeans his actual length and he will mend and sew the pairs he has until they are falling apart. Neither of the boys have ever actually bought an item of clothing new off the rack.
Cas: doesn't like listening to music (it's Just Noise to him) but he DOES love hearing people singing together. These are very different things in his mind. It grosses him out a little bit that Dean is eukaryotic based but he isn't going to let an unsavory little habit like glycolosis get in the way of true love.

if I dont get at least a b on my pob test tomorrow im going to quit school and live in the forest
#i really tried to study today but it didn't work#at least i memorized the citric acid cycle#but that doesn't help me with photosynthesis or glycolosis#or literally all the other words that my biology professor said that didn't sound like english#i might need a tutor or someone to make me feel guilty for not studying all day long#if i don't do well in pob or pob2 then i wont be doing myself any favors and its harder than i remember#i havent done biology since freshman year of high school... over six years ago#someone help

[01/100 Days of Productivity]
Started the glycolosis pathway in Biology today. Revised it and drew a handy diagram to help me remember the enzymes used in the different steps. Practiced the guitar for 20 minutes - I think I'm getting better!

I lost the anon ask about ADP versus ATP
Sorry about that. I'll explain it.
ATP is basically cell energy. It stands for Adenosine Tri-phosphate. That means there are 3 phosphate groups.
ATP is the energy we need to do stuff.
ADP is Adenosine Di-phosphate. In cellular respiration, ATP will...
A phosphate group, making ADP. ADP will start cellular respiration.
Cellular respiration is basically energy making in the cell, which ATP does. This process makes a hell of a lot of ATP at the end, lols 36-38!
There are 3 parts to cellular respiration
Glycolosis (glucose breaking down)
Kreb's Cycle (pyruvate(glucose+oxygen) is in the mitochondria, making Carbon Dioxide+ATP)
(Pardon our french)
Election transport chain is the final step. A bunch of stuff happens (I'm sticking to basics) with a bunch of molecules and suddenly....ATP
**this is aerobic respiration. That means with oxygen. If there's no oxygen in glycolisis, that's fermentation, a whole other process**
Wrap up:
ATP is energy
ADP is in the start of cellular respiration. It can be converted to ATP and back again to make the process go all over again

I hope this makes sense!
Let me know if you need more clarification.

Progress? Psh what’s that?
So it’s been forever since I actually posed anything about my own progress, and that is quite frankly because there’s nothing to share. I’ll be the first to admit there were times when I fell off the wagon and ate shitty fast food or didn’t move my ass from the couch, but that isn’t exactly what happened this time. Sure those things happened, but I also had 6 month periods of amazing “progress,” eating well 90% of the time, exercising 4 times a week. This was all great, so why was nothing happening? No difference in the scale, no difference in my measurements, no difference visually, nothing. It was so frustrating to feel like I was doing so well for my body and nothing changed.
Since then, I’ve been to a doctor, discovered some underlying health issues and learned they may be to blame for my troubles losing weight. I was recommended a low carb/ high fat diet (such as Paleo or a Ketogenic diet) to compensate for these problems.
So I’ve been pouring myself into the research over the past two weeks and I’ve decided to give Keto a try. It really drew me in because of the ACTUAL science behind it and the fact it isn’t one of these internet fad diets that never work. For anyone not familiar, I’ll give you a quick rundown. For anyone eating enough carbs for fuel, your body is naturally in a state of glycolosis. This produces glycogens which burn carbs for energy and therefore your body stores the fats for later. In a ketogenic diet, you intake very few carbs, not enough for your body to function, and in response, your body enters ketosis, producing ketones which burn fats for fuel instead.
This diet is generally recommended to anyone with a disorder that causes insulin resistance (such as PCOS, diabetes, hypoglycemia, as well as some autoimmune disorders). This is because carbs, especially refined carbs which are found in most foods today, cause uneven spikes in blood sugar. That’s all I will say on the subject since I’m no expert, but the science is out there for anyone looking to do the research.
So here I am, starting over AGAIN (at least I can say I have my determination lol). Current measurements below for anyone who has bothered to read this far.

Yeah and you have to take 2 from that 4 again to repeat the cycle again... And this is glycolosis which occurs in the cytoplasm I think! And it makes 2 pyruvate and the remaining 2 atp to continue to the inner membrane of the mitochondira which is the Krebs/citric acid cycle. Then the outer membrane for the electric transport chain. To make the remaining 34 atp from.

I have been studying Cell Biology all day today. I just don't understand why a freaking cell, particularly the plasma membrane, has to be so damn complicated. On the bright side I wrote a song to help me remember the steps of glycolosis and all the stupid enzymes involved. I'm so proud of myself. haha Now back to studying until my eyes won't stay open!!

Literally we are made of fats, proteins, and carbs those three plus nucleic acids are the four basic structures of all life.
And here's how you use this shit.
[C6H12O6(Glucose/Sugar) + Oxygen] yields CO2 + H20
This is cellular respiration. I just recently learned all about the actually lengthy processes that go into this shit. It starts with Glycolosis to the Krebs cycle to the Electron transport chain. Sugar is broken down to make ATP, which powers your cells... All of them.. (If you want to learn it there's a crash course video on it.)
You need sugar for energy, you need lipids (fats) for your cells, you need proteins as well, don't let any health nut jerk tell you otherwise...
we need carbs and we need fats and we need proteins and honestly fuck diet culture for normalizing malnourishment
#hi bio major here#and I hate it when people starve themselves of nutrients they need cause society's bullshit standards...

i guess knowing the processes of like digestion and respiration and glycolosis somehow makes life cooler, rather than just knowing stuff happens because it does
i dunno why but learning more about biology has actually made life a lot more enjoyable somehow
