âDonât you think this is an invasion of privacy?â said Remus, always the voice of reason among the three. Sirius seemed to contemplate the statement while James, quick to justify their actions, shook his head immediately. âSânot like weâre doing anything wrong right? Weâre just checking if sheâs okay,â James replied and Sirius nodded along. The next few minutes were spent in silence until they pulled into your driveway.Â
Remus was the first to unlock the car door, ducking his head so it wouldnât hit the roof before he stood out. Sirius got out right behind him, tugging on Remusâs sleeve to pull himself up. Remus stumbles back a little, not expecting to have to support Siriusâs weight for a few moments. The two boys turned back to look at James, still sitting in the driver's seat.Â
âJames,â said Remus, somehow knowing exactly what he was thinking.
âYeah?â he replied.
âYou having second thoughts?â
âYeah,â he nodded.
âWhat happened to what you said earlier?â James opened his mouth and shut it as he thought about what he could say to explain his thought process.Â
âWhat if she doesnât want us here?â
âThen sheâll tell us, now come on,â Sirius says as he pulls James up and towards the door. Remus pressed his thumb against the doorbell and rapped the door when it didnât ring. They could hear the pitter-patter of small feet against hardwood. The steps stopped abruptly, the recognizable lilt of your voice as you hushed them. The door opened and you looked up from the toddler you were holding, your eyes widening for a moment before you suppress your shock.
âHi baby,â Remus said softly, not quite sure how loud he could afford to be around the baby.
âHey,â you heard a cooing from further inside, âsorry for not answering your calls earlier today, I just checked my messages.â
âDonât be sorry dove, we were just worried for you thatâs all,â you nodded and stared for a moment, not knowing exactly what to say. Sirius smiled slightly at the sight of the toddler chewing on your shoulder.
âWhatâs her name?â he said, nodding towards the child in your arms.Â
âAdelaide but I call her Addieâ you reply
âIs she your niece?â Sirius asked. Remus slapped his arm, reminding him not to be that direct with his questions. Sirius winced but looked back at you.
âNo sheâs mine,â you said, flicking your eyes to each of theirs to gauge their reactions. James clears his throat, having been silent for the past few minutes.
âCan I hold her?â your eyes snapped to him as you tried to guess whether he was serious or not.
âReally? No other questions?â He shook his head slightly confused. You handed her over to him and James stared at her, adoration prominent in his gaze.
âSheâs gorgeousâ he breathed, as if she was glass and he was scared of breaking her.Â
âThanks, she realized that a while ago,â your tone half-joking, âyou wanna come in? Itâs freezing out.â James nodded slightly, still entranced by the child in his arms, while Remus and Sirius both said yes and stepped inside. The scraping of chairs against wood was audible as you shut the door. Three small bodies came running towards you, two attaching themselves to your legs and the other jumping into your arms.Â
âMa, whoâs that?â the oldest, Dawn, said, pointing towards the boys. You thought about it for a moment, not knowing exactly what to say to them.
âTheyâre my friends, baby,â you said, not clear on whether to explain further. She turned away and pulled her arms from around your legs to go closer to them. She seemed to be enamored by Sirius, something about the boy catching her eye. Perhaps it was the glint of his rings, the girl had always had an affinity for all things shiny. Either way, Dawn walked towards Sirius, lifting her arms as if asking him to pick her up. Sirius looked to you for your approval before picking her up. She seemed to have some sort of attraction to the boy's hair, grabbing at it and tugging lightly. Sirius laughed it off though, chalking it up to childlike wonder.Â
Alec, the next oldest, walked towards Remus, the pale white scars running across his face seemed to intrigue him. Remus seemed confused at first, not knowing exactly how to react to the boy tugging at his hand. He crouched after a few moments, listening to the boyâs chatter and nodding along with a smile on his face. Your youngest, seemed perfectly content in your arms, little hands already gripping your shirt as he pressed his face into your neck.Â
James was still holding Addie, but now he was sitting on your couch with her on his lap. He seemed to be having an animated conversation with her, about what you couldnât possibly tell, the girl's interests changed hourly. James seemed to be entertaining her though, the smile on his face evident as his eyes snapped towards yours for a moment before they returned to where they were. You walked towards them and sat beside James on the couch. It seemed almost right seeing them like this, as if this was the way it shouldâve been from the start.
Dawn started squirming in Siriusâs arms, her palms that were previously placed around his neck now pushing herself away from his chest. Sirius set her down gently after he realized she wanted to be put down. So Dawn came tumbling towards you with the same amount of grace in her step as a newborn baby deer and she tugged at your arm. You crouched to meet her eye level and she whispered something into your ear, looking back and forth between you and the boys.
âYouâll have to ask them hon,â at that, their eyes snapped to yours, waiting for Dawn to ask them something. She went back to Sirius and stared up at him, lifting her arms so heâd pick her up and whispered, âcan all of you stay for dinner?â It was obvious she was trying to be quiet, but whispering quietly had never been one of her strong suits, so the other boys, as well as Alec and Addie, just waited for Sirius to answer for all three of them.Â
âWeâll stay if you want us to, doll, itâs up to you,â said Sirius, turning the conversation back to you. You thought about it for a moment, contemplating your answer, before nodding slowly.

Adelaide's Birthday
Series: Open Heart Paring: Tobias Carrick x F!OC (Adelaide Barnes) Word Count: 1236 Summary: It's Adelaide's birthday A/n: Yes today was Adelaide's birthday and I did forget about it until this week and I didn't have any time to write until today so it's most likely very bad as I wrote it in two hours without checking it for errors. Anyways, enjoy.
Both Tobias and Adelaide always slept in whenever they could, which means that they usually woke up together each morning. So when Adelaide woke up to the other side of the bed empty, she knew something was up. She quickly threw on one of Tobiasâ long sleeve dress shirts and went to go find him.Â
Waiting outside the door of the bedroom was Luna. She was laying down and wagging her tail as she waited for Adelaide to come out of the bedroom. When she opened the door, Luna perked up and started painting, waiting to be pet, which made Adelaide laugh.
âWhat? Do you want some scratches?â Adelaide said in a higher pitched voice.
She knelt down to pet Luna for a few minutes before standing back up to go find Tobias, Luna following right behind her. She decided to go into the kitchen to find him first and was right as Tobias was over at the stove flipping different foods in multiple pans.Â
She stood at the entrance of the kitchen and cleared her throat, which made Tobias turn to face her. The two of them smiled and Tobias turned towards her with his arms out. Adelaide quickly walked towards him and they wrapped their arms around each other before he lifted her off of the ground and she wrapped her legs around him. She then took her hands and placed them on the sides of Tobiasâ face and kissed him hard, making Luna bark.
âGood morning.â Tobias said.
âGood morning. Whatcha doing?â
âWell I am trying to make the birthday girl breakfast.â
âWell donât let me stop you.â Adelaide said as she got down and went to get a glass of water before sitting down at the island watching Tobias finish making breakfast.
Once he was done, Tobias plated food for the both of them and brought it over to Adelaide. The two of them smiled at each other before leaning in for a kiss. Tobias brought his hand under her chin and deepened the kiss before breaking away and turning towards the food to eat.
A little while after everything from breakfast was cleaned up, Adelaide and Tobias cuddled on the couch and watched tv. Tobias had a hand in her hair, twirling it around in his fingers. Both of them were very comfortable on the couch when there was a knock at the door. Both of them sat up and Adelaide went to open the door.
âSurprise.â Both Claire and Ethan said, holding up some bags in their hands.
âHi! What are you guys doing here?â
Claire tilted her head and gave Adelaide a playful glare. âDid you really think that I wouldnât be with you on your birthday?â
The two of them hugged before Adelaide hugged Ethan and Tobias hugged Claire. Then both Claire and Adelaide looked at the two men, who both huffed and then hugged each other, while the two women laughed.Â
âAnyways. We have a surprise for you!â Claire said.
Claire handed Adelaide one of the bags in her hand before setting the other bags down next to them. She looked inside to see a green shirt and skirt, as well as high heeled boots with a bunch of silver and multiple shades of green gems on them. She then looked up and saw Claire holding an envelope, which she took and opened to see four tickets to see Six: The Musical on Broadway.Â
âWait really?â Adelaide said smiling.
âYeah. We figured it would be something special for your birthday.â Ethan chimed in.
âWell thank you.â
âYouâre welcome, but since itâs for tonight we should get going. We also booked hotels for the weekend so we should check in and get ready before we have to be there.â Claire said, handing the other bag she had been holding to Tobias.
âThatâs why you were packing our bags.â Adelaide said to Tobias who just smiled.
The four of them made their way down to NYC in their separate cars. Both Adelaide and Claire had started doing their makeup on the ride there. Both couples then checked into their hotel rooms and finished getting ready. Adelaide was doing some finishing touches when Tobias came out of the bathroom, dressed in a teal shirt and black jeans that had some teal detailing, as well as black boots that had silver and different shades of teal gems on them.Â
âOoh. I see someone is supposed to be a teal alternate.â Adelaide said, turning towards Tobias as she finished fixing her space buns.Â
âYeah, I figured that this was the best one other than orange.â
âWell I love itâÂ
The two of them shared a quick kiss before making their way down to the lobby. When the elevator opened, they were greeted by Claire who was wearing a dark blue shirt and pants and wearing the same boots as Adelaide but the green jewels were switched for blue, as well as Ethan who was dressed very similarly to Tobias but he was wearing orange instead of teal.Â
âOoh, I like both the Catherine Parr and Orange Alternate looks.â
âThank you. I tried to get Ethan to wear either the Pink alternate colors or the Katherine Howard colors but he refused.â Claire said before turning to Ethan.
âHey, I was willing to do this but I cross the line at wearing pink.â
âThatâs fine with me. Iâm just so excited to see the show.
âYouâve seen it about 20 times already.â Tobias said.
âYeah but each time is different like when different people are on or itâs a special show like someoneâs final show or itâs close to the holidays.â
The four of them continued to chat in the lobby before heading over to the theater and getting their seats, which were in the first row.
âSee another new thing. I havenât sat in the first row before.â Adelaide said to Tobias, who just rolled his eyes and laughed.
âYes dear.â
It wasnât long before the show had started and the four of them had fun. During the megasix both actors playing Catherine of Aragon and Jane Seymour had pointed their mics towards Adelaide and motioned for her to sing the parts. After the show was over she got signatures and photos with the cast, who all wished her a happy birthday.Â
Once she was done, the four of them headed back to the hotel and Adelaide and Tobias said goodnight to Claire and Ethan before heading to their hotel room. Once they were inside, Adelaide immediately went to take off her shoes and take down her hair.Â
âSweet Relief.â
Tobias had laughed at what Adelaide had said and went to help Adelaide with her hair and her makeup before getting ready for bed himself. Once the two of them were ready, they climbed into bed and turned off the lights.
âSo did you like what we had planned for today.â
âI did but when did you plan all of this?â
âI did it when I was on break. I also had some help from friends from high school when it comes to the outfits but I had Ethan and Claire hold onto them so you couldnât accidentally find them.â
âOh. Well thank you. I loved it.â
âYour welcome angel.â
The two of them shared a kiss before settling into bed. The two of them fell asleep quickly as their tiredness overcame them.

HEADCANONS.
duchess is someone that tries very hard to seem put together when, in reality, she only feels like she is falling apart.
though she holds her head high, duchess often feels like she failed as a mother, a wife and a daughter. despite knowing there was nothing she could do to get back to her own mother, she misses her deeply. she is the only family she's ever known outside of her kids, never caring to reach out to her birth parents as she had everything she needed in ms. bonfamille and now, after so many years of having her in her corner, rooting her on, she feels almost completely... lost without her. she knows who she is, but does find herself doubting it from time to time.
she loves the idea of falling in love, especially now that marie, berlioz and toulouse have their own lives she's not nearly as involved in, but the idea of love is a little frightening. after her only real relationship fell apart, she's not sure she could put herself through that again. though she knows she is a beautiful woman, her lack of suitors does make her question it - maybe she is just meant to stay single?
her children are her pride and joy and she would do anything for them. she would lay her life on the line. she knows that there were times she coddled them too much, and others that she was too strict, trying to mold them into the perfect versions of themselves they could be... but all she ever wanted was for them to be happy. now that they're out of the nest, now that they're getting through life without her protection, she looks at everything they seem to struggle with and wonders where she went wrong, what she could have done to build their walls a little taller... and what more she can do now, than love them.
she is fluent in french, of course, and truly believes it is the language of love. she enjoys slipping random phrases into her sentences, even if the people around her simply do not understand what she's saying.
mother to everyone that will let her mother them. she will take everyone under her wing, no matter their age.
breakfast is duchess' favorite meal of the day! but brunch is a close second.
she very much has a taste for the finer things in life, it was simply the way she was raised.
while she doesn't miss her ex-husband anymore and knows that their lives were much better off without him, sometimes she still regrets not trying harder, begging him to stay, if only so her children would have their father.
she has a green thumb and cares about her many plants as if they're her own little pets. now that her children don't seem to need her as much anymore, and she isn't able to take care of her mother, she has to have something to look after. otherwise, after so long of doing it, she would just be... lost.
she also grows her own spices - thyme, oregano, basil, and uses them in nearly every meal that she makes.
she is a nervous cleaner. when she starts feeling anxious, out come the soap and sponges. she'll sweep, dust, mop, reorganize everything from the cabinets down to the bottoms of the walls. as if her place doesn't remain practically spotless at all times anyway.
seldom do swear words pass through her lips. she doesn't believe in using crude language.
while she isn't much of a drinker, she absolutely indulges in wine from time to time. it's the perfect way to unwind after a stressful day: a nice, hot bubble bath with a romance novel and a tall glass of whichever white wine is calling out to her tastebuds at the time... though merlot will do if it must.
a small plate of grapes, dark chocolate and cheese cubes is her favorite snack.
pearls are her favorite accessory, and gold over silver jewelry.
a morning person through and through, duchess is usually wide-eyed and bushy tailed by six am but she cannot seem to sleep past eight even if she tries, no matter how late she was up the night before.

Valentine's Day 2023
***
13th February 2023.
"I hope you don't have any crazy plans for tomorrow," Catherine murmured minutes before falling asleep. William smiled and continued petting her hair. Indeed, there were no plans for Valentine's Day. The last time they celebrated it was probably before their wedding. With marriage came other days to celebrate their love. Hence, there were no special days for them in the calendar except for wedding anniversaries and birthdays within the family.
14th February 2023.
Catherine woke up with the smell of omelette coming from the kitchen. First, she thought that her husband made a mess while preparing breakfast so she decided to come to the kitchen to check. On the way there her mind began to 'work' after sleep and she realised William was actually very good at making breakfast. She felt quite ashamed of herself as she entered the kitchen and saw her children and husband putting plates and glasses on the table.
"Good morning" she quietly said and yawned
"Good morning, mummy. Happy Valentineâs Day" Louis said and kissed her on the cheek
"Thank you, my little man" Catherine lovingly smiled and kissed Louis too. Then she hugged her older kids and Orla. William was looking at them with a smile while making sure that the omelettes would not burn. He served breakfast to his wife with a short "good morning" kiss when their kids were not looking. Catherine tried not to blush as she began to eat the omelette. He still managed to make her feel like a shy teenage girl with a simple kiss..
Because the kids were on the school mid term break, The Prince and Princess of Wales had no time only for themselves for the majority of the day. In the late afternoon while Catherine was doing some drawings with them, her husband sneaked out of the house. Charlotte was first to notice his absence as she asked "Where's papa?"
"I don't know, Lottie. I'll go and find him" Catherine murmured and began to check all the rooms in Adelaide cottage and then left for the garden too. She had in mind that it was Valentine's day, and also remembered that he liked to surprise her. However, a fear crept her mind nonetheless. Although they were not celebrating February 14 as something 'special' she thought that William perhaps wanted to spend time with her, got disappointed that they were not even talking through the day and left. She didn't really know why but those "stupid" thoughts were stuck in her mind.
*
He returned home half an hour later and went to his office for a moment. Then, as if nothing happened came back to the living room where Louis and Charlotte greeted him.
"Where's mummy and George?"
"They are looking for you, papa. Where have you been? Mummy was worried"
"Where is she now?" William asked and now he was the one searching for his wife
She was sitting on George's bed in his room and he was holding her hand. The princess was about to call on the number of her husband's private secretary. Fear mixed with the anger of some kind filled her mind.
"Kate.." William said as he stepped into George's room and it was a subtle signal for his son to let them stay alone.
"Where have you been?" She asked without looking at him even after he sat down
"It's.. It was to make a small surprise for you"
"We talked about it.. I don't celebrate-.."
"I know" William put his hand over hers "We do not specially celebrate Valentine's Day"
"Exactly, so why did you.." Catherine was about to ask another question when William silenced her with a kiss and then took her hand and led her towards his office.
She was looking at him with narrowed eyes as he closed the door.
"What the hell are you doing, William Wales?"
He said nothing as he handed her a box wrapped in pink paper and a bouquet of pink tulips.
"I know it is not your favourite hyacinth, but it is not available yet, so I hope this is okay"
Catherine stared at him, still with signs of anger and confusion but soon she proceeded to open the box. Inside, she found nothing else but an envelope.
"How many things am I supposed to find today yet?" She sighed. William didn't reply and watched her as she opened the blue envelope. There, she found a picture of them which was taken in 2002. Both of them with silly facial expressions, taken by Fergus, their university friend and roommate. On the back it was written "Middleton & Wales. Two silly but amazing people. F". Catherine sweetly giggled as she saw it.
Memories from St Salvador's Hall and Hope Street filled her mind and replaced irritation with nostalgia. William stared at her with adoration in his eyes for a few seconds, in absolute silence.
"Where did you find this? I thought I kept every single picture" she finally said, sitting down on a chair in front of her husband's desk. He could tell she was still in disbelief.
"Well.. I kept this one" he replied as they both were holding a piece of paper capturing a 20 year old moment.
After a few seconds of silence, Catherine resumed their conversation: "So, Fergus gave it to you at some point?"
"No, it was mine all along. He just had written that description back in 2005, right before our graduation" William replied "Now, it's yours"
Catherine smiled and kissed her husband on the cheek "Thanks for this gift. Oh, and sorry for feeling angry earlier"
"Do not worry, Miss Middleton" William put a strand of her hair behind her ear and smiled.
"I hope you do not consider it as a Valentine's gift though" Catherine added then
"No" William shook head "It's just something that reminds me of our courtship. Hold on.. Were we already courting here or not yet?" He asked, Catherine mouthed "I don't know" and they both burst into laughter before looking into each other's eyes.
"We shall go back to the children" William murmured but it was quickly followed by him kissing his wife on the lips, then her neck..
"Stop it.." Kate whispered, trying to catch her breath "We must go back to the living room".
William looked at her and his face turned red as he said "I just remembered our university days and-.."
"Who said that you cannot remember it again later this evening and at night?" His wife smirked.
"I thought that you do not celebrate Valentine's Day" he teased her and kissed on the lips once more.
*
When William was putting the children to sleep, Catherine was already in their bedroom, waiting for their lovable night. At one point, she looked at her and William's 'old' picture again before putting it among others in the "uni" section in a family photo album.
Valentine's Day or not, he always knew how to surprise and make her feel the happiest in the best way possible.

Easy Access for Your Furry Friends
Picture this: it's a sunny afternoon, and your dog eagerly wags its tail at the back door, ready to explore the outdoors. With traditional swinging doors, you often have to stop what you're doing to let your pet in and out. But with Residential Sliding Doors in Adelaide, your pets can enjoy the freedom they crave! These doors glide open effortlessly, allowing your pets to come and go as they please. You won't have to awkwardly maneuver around a swinging door while holding a laundry basket!
Enhanced Safety Features
Safety is a top priority for pet owners. Many Residential Sliding Doors have advanced locking mechanisms and safety features to keep your furry pals indoors. You can enjoy peace of mind knowing that your pets are safe while you're busy with daily tasks. Some sliding doors are also made with tempered glass, which is more robust and less likely to break. This means fewer worries about accidents or unexpected escapes!
A Seamless Connection to the Outdoors
Sliding doors create a beautiful flow between your indoor and outdoor spaces. They not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of your home but also let in natural light, making your living area feel warm and inviting. This seamless connection is especially beneficial for pets who love basking in the sun or enjoying fresh air. With Residential Sliding Doors in Adelaide, you can create a pet-friendly oasis where your furry friends can lounge and play to their hearts' content.
Space-Saving Design

This space-saving design maximises your floor area, allowing you to create a more functional and stylish living environment for you and your pets.

Let's explore the key places where security doors are commonly installed in Adelaide.
Main Entry Points:
The most common location for security doors is at the main entrance. Whether it's the front door or the back door, installing a security door at these points adds an extra layer of protection against unauthorized access and break-ins.
Patio Entrances:
Adelaide's pleasant climate makes outdoor spaces a popular spot for relaxation. Security doors installed at patio entrances not only allow you to enjoy the fresh air but also keep your indoor spaces secure.
Sliding Doors:
Sliding glass doors are a common feature in many homes, offering panoramic views. However, they can also be vulnerable points of entry. Security doors designed for sliding doors provide added security without compromising the view.

Pool Enclosures:
For homes with pools, security doors are often installed to enclose the pool area. This not only adds safety for children and pets but also enhances security for your property.
From the main entrance to patio doors, in Adelaide, security doors find their place in various locations across homes. ➠⎠âŠÂ
➠⎠âŠÂ
âCalcifer will you please come help me with this?â your exasperated voice could be heard from the balcony of your studio apartment as you struggled to balance the hoard of glass bottles in your arms.Â
Not a moment later, a small fox came trotting onto the (very overgrown) terrace, âYa know I have things to do too. Iâm not your butler,âÂ
You scoffed at your familiar's grumbled complaint before handing him a couple bottles to hold in his mouth and wrap his tail around, âI know youâre not my butler Cal. But I got you that essence of toad the other day so the least you could do is help me organize my potion materials for a bit.âÂ
The fox let out a low growl and walked back into your small apartment while you followed behind him, âYou know how hard it is for me to form opposable thumbs lady? Itâs gonna take a lot more than essence of toad for me to comply,âÂ
You glared playfully at the fox before sighing and rolling your eyes, knowing exactly what the sly creature was trying to get you to do, âCalcifer if you want pheasant for dinner just ask,âÂ
There was no response, just the quiet clinking of bottles rolling to the floor as you and your partner began to sort through everything. You really need to start organizing your stuff better. Last week you mixed up your newt toes with skinks and almost blew up your home, so itâs safe to say that your clutter has hit a breaking point. You left Calcifer to sit on your frameless bed as he sorted your bottles to go back out onto your small terrace, breathing in the scent of all of your plants that had happily covered every inch they possibly could. You figured it was as good a time as any to harvest all the herbs youâd need for the month and bottle them up for safe keeping. Quietly humming to yourself, you went around plucking the healthiest looking leaves, sprigs, and sprouts you could find, setting each pile onto the antique writers desk you had put out there as a space for your potion making.Â
âHey Calcifer do you know where I put my Ever-Writing Quill?â You question, brows furrowing as you dig through the drawers of your desk.Â
âYou donât remember? You sat on it last week and snapped it in half!â The foxâs response was followed by a string of cackles and snorts as he laughed to himself about your misfortune.Â
You let out a loud groan of frustration, tilting your head to the sky and stomping your foot in a small childish fit. âWhy didnât you put it on my shopping list?â You ask, walking back inside to glare at the creature comfortably sitting on your bed.Â
Calcifer smiled widely, his pointy teeth fully on show in a sly grin, âoopsies, my bad!â he raised what would be his paws but are now little hands due to his helpful transfiguration powers, and held them in an innocent shrug.Â
You squint your eyes at the reynard but hold your tongue, shoving your feet into a pair of leather boots. âCome on, youâre coming with me to the market so I can get a new quill,âÂ
It didnât take too long before you had gathered everything you needed, making sure to grab your sweater as the weather hadnât gotten much warmer in the past months and you absolutely hated to be cold. It only took a stern glare and a threat to have salad for dinner to convince Calcifer to go with you. Though you didnât miss the petty and painful nip to your calf as you walked out of your door and into the dank hallway of your apartment building.Â
➠⎠âŠÂ
The sky was colored a dark grey with intimidating clouds, blocking out any chance of sun or warmth as you walked down the streets of your small town. You passed by cute little shops and a restaurant or two as you made your way to the market. Your boots stomped loudly on the cobblestone walkway, echoed by the light clicking of Calcifierâs nails while he trotted beside you.Â
Your town didnât have many witches, but the non-magic residents were still fully supportive of you and all the other witches and warlocks that resided in the small rainy town of Adelaide. You had lived there for years and not once had you come in contact with what your community called âSalamersâ, bigoted people who had hate filled vendettas against your kind. Many of your friends who had lived in bigger cities had told you about their horror stories involving bigoted people who had cursed (pun intended) and swore at them. Your friend Peter even told you about a man who had spit on him after finding out he was a witch.Â
The thoughts of such hateful actions caused a crease in your brow to form and it didnât leave until you were at the small stone entrance to Wandaâs Magickal Menagerie, the only entrance to the market for miles. It was one of your favourite things about the magical world. The outside looked like just another building with pretty stone walls and a worn wooden sign displaying the name, but to anyone with a high enough magical presence, it was an entrance to the biggest market in the wiccan world. Hundreds of vendors were beyond that door, hidden away to a different space and time by a carefully constructed spell performed by the most powerful witches in existence.Â
You couldnât help the excited pulse of your heart as you opened the door and stepped into what seemed like an entirely different universe. The hustle and bustle of busy shoppers instantly clouded your vision and ears. The air was warm and lighting low in the crowded alleyway that led to the entrance and exit of the marketplace. You took only a moment to get used to the different surroundings before setting off on your way to the real Wandaâs Magickal Menagerie.Â
It only took a few steps before you heard the loud yip of pain from your familiar, instantly making you whip around to see what happened, âI hate it here, Y/n! Everyone steps on my tail, it smells weird, Itâs dark, everything is all muted because apparently witches only like the color red and Iâm colorblind-âÂ
âAlright ya baby câmere,â you interrupted Calâs whining, bending down and allowing him to jump up and wrap around your shoulders.Â
âPeople have no respect for familiars, itâs so uncool,â he grumbled into your ear, resting his snout on the ridge of your shoulder.Â
âI know, buddy. But you know how much I hate going out alone. I really appreciate you coming with me. When weâre done here we can go to the butcher and you can pick out what bird you want for tonight,â Your hand came up to softly scratch your friend behind his ear, soothing his nerves and continuing on your way to your final destination.Â
It didnât take long before you arrived at a small wooden hut, a modest sign with an address hanging out front for advertisement to passersby. You quickly approached the shop and pushed the door open, entering the cozy and familiar atmosphere of Wandaâs business.Â
âHey Y/n! Cally, hi baby!â Your entrance was met immediately with happy greetings from your long time friend.Â
âHey Wanda,â you and Calcifer greet in unison, smiles adorning both your faces.Â
The red headed witch skipped towards you, wrapping you in a warm hug and lovingly petting the fox around your shoulders. âHowâve you guys been? I feel like I havenât seen you in forever,âÂ
âWeâve been trying to declutter the apartment. Y/nâs become such a hoarder.â Calcifer blurts out, letting one of his signature cackles break free.Â
âI am not! Iâve just been experimenting with my potions, so I have a lot more ingredients and supplies right now,â You hurriedly explain, not wanting to have your friend think of you as a crazy old witch with a hoarding problem.Â
Wanda lets out a quiet giggle at the pair of friends in front of her, finding the relationship between you and your familiar adorable, âWhat brings you in today? Did you lose your monkey paw again?âÂ
You playfully roll your eyes at Wanda, âNo, I uh... I broke my Ever-Writing Quill,â you admit, trying to fight the warmth that crept up your neck and cheeks.Â
Wanda let out a quick burst of laughter before turning around and leading you through the many shelves and tables of her shop, âCome on, I just got a fresh shipment in,â
➠⎠âŠÂ
âThanks Wanda! Iâll see you and Vis for brunch on Sunday,â You smile and give your friend a kiss on the cheek goodbye before exiting her shop.Â
âAlright Cal, is there anything else you need before we go? Do you want me to get you more fur oil? Are you good on that incense you like?âÂ
âYeah I think Iâm okay, at this point I just want food,â He grumbled, lifting his head up from your shoulder and sniffing the air.Â
You nodded your head in understanding and began the trip back to where you first entered the marketplace. The walkways were absolutely packed; it was nearly impossible to keep from bumping into other shoppers. Calcifer could be heard grumbling profanities every time someone brushed or bumped against him. You couldnât blame the poor creature, he was naturally anxious and didnât like strangers, so making trips like these were never too fun for him. You were trying your best to avoid people, but luck was against you and as you were ducking out of the way of one man who looked exactly like Merlin, you ended up running right into someone else.Â
You fell right to the floor, Calcifer tumbling from your shoulder and sliding a few feet away due to the force, âAh! Calcifer? Cal are you okay?âÂ
âShit! are you okay? I didnât see you, I am so sorry,â
Ignoring the stranger above, you frantically look around for your lost friend and spot him a few feet away from you, curling up into a scared orange ball and shoving his snout under his hind leg to hide. You scramble over to him, scooping his small body into your arms and holding onto him tightly, âOh Calcifer Iâm so sorry! I should have never asked you to come with me, I know you hate it here and now look what happened,âÂ
You couldnât help the stress induced tears that welled in your eyes as you pet the shaking fox in your arms, âIâm okay, Y/n. Just a little shaken,â His voice was quiet and you knew he wasnât being completely honest but you knew getting out of the crowded place was more important at that point.Â
A tall figure suddenly shadowed over you, making you cower out of instinct and scoot back a few paces, âHey are you and your fox okay? Really, I didnât see you. I should have been paying more attention, let me help you up,â A hand comes down offering to lift you from the dirty concrete.Â
With one arm tightly holding onto Calcifer, you use your other hand to grab onto the strangers and lift yourself up. âThanks,â You mumble out quickly, keeping your head down and immediately walking away, your mind completely focused on getting the hell out of these cursed alleyways.Â
Once you had fallen out of the exit and back onto the cobblestone streets of Adelaide, you could finally take a deep breath. Leaning up against the cold stone wall near the entrance, you closed your eyes, sucking in the fresh air and gently petting the creature still firmly gripped in your arms.Â
A choked cry escapes you suddenly, âI am so sorry Calcifer,â You absolutely hated that you had caused your friend such a terrible experience. He couldâve gotten hurt, someone couldâve stolen him away from you, the street was so crowded you wouldâve never found him again! Calcifer wouldâve never forgiven you! Might not even forgive you now! Just the thought of it-Â
âAlright calm down kid... Iâm perfectly fine. Paw hurts a little bit but, really, Iâm okay,â the fox in your arms looked up at you, a small smile on his snout as he nuzzled into your hair.Â
âAre you sure? I can take you to the vet-â Before you can continue to worry about the injured animal, a deep voice sounds from above you.Â
âUh hey...âÂ
You quickly wipe the tears from your cheeks and look up, eyes widening in surprise as you stare into steely irisâs that seemed to have a mission on copying the sky that day. âH-hello,âÂ
As you stared at the burly looking man in front of you, you couldnât help but side eye his stature. Adorning all black with little glints of silver rings and buckles here and there, a few tiny scars marking his well-structured jaw and cheek bones, and good god those boots must be so heavy and-is that a metal hand peeking out from the long sleeve of his leather jacket?! This guy is too scary to be this attractive...
âI uh... I was the one to bump into you earlier. Itâs totally my fault and I really didnât mean for you to drop your fox like that-itâs just that my familiar took off and I just wasnât paying attention and it seemed like a pretty bad fall and you were so focused on protecting your pet-â âHeâs not a pet,â you spit out quickly, a stern glare etched into your features.Â
âR-right, right sorry-I just-I was-I misspoke...â he trailed awkwardly, roughly dragging a hand through brunette hair and grimacing at his own failure to compose a sensible response.Â
âAre you a witch?â you mumble out quietly, your glare softening into a more apprehensive, yet curious, stare.Â
âUh yeah, yeah Iâm only entry level though. My friend Sam helped me get into the market so I could get a few things but then...ya knowâÂ
You stood silently, not exactly sure of what this weirdo wanted from you. If he thought you were going to apologize he was very mistaken. What if he planned to rob you? To take Calcifer and run? The thought made your grip on the animal even more secure, if that were even possible.Â
âIs your arm okay?â Worried eyes gazed down at your arm and the man took a small step forward.Â
âWhat?â You try to flinch away from the soft grasp of his hand around your bicep, but only end up pushing yourself against the wall.Â
The man inspected the inflamed scrape that burned a path along your forearm and up to your elbow, âThat looks pretty bad doll, do you want some medicine? I think I might have a little with me. Hey Sibi!âÂ
âHoly shit!â A sharp intake of breath forced its way into your lungs as you saw a giant white wolf bound up to the man. Your breathing sped up, heartbeat following along with it as you gazed upon the giant beast.Â
âDo you mind? I gotta get into my bag,â He asked gently, the wolf immediately turning to give him easy access to a large pack that was slung over her back, âThanks Sibi, can you go find Sam? Tell him Iâll be a bit longer than expected,â The wolf let out a gruff noise of agreement and nodded itâs head before heading back through the magical entrance.Â
The man turned back around and walked towards you once more. You didnât flinch this time when he reached for your arm, careful to make sure you had a good grip on Cal before opening a bottle of light blue gel and tapping some out onto the palm of his hand, âMy name is Bucky, by the way,âÂ
âOkay,â you mumble out awkwardly, your anxious nature getting the best of you and blocking any form of friendly communication to come across while Bucky covers your wound with the gel.
âHer name is Y/n, Iâm Calcifer,â You stare down incredulously at the fox, not expecting him to introduce you to this stranger.Â
Bucky smiled up at you and the fox, shiny white teeth on display, âPretty name for a pretty girl,âÂ
The comment instantly made your face heat up in embarrassment. âThank y-you...âÂ
Bucky straightened up after he was done dressing your wound, thankfully taking a step back to give you some space. Why wasnât he leaving? Why did he care so much about some rando he ran into at the market? Maybe this was just a front to try and rob you...
âWell uh... I just wanted to make sure you were okay. You seemed real spooked back there and I could tell you hurt your arm so I just wanted to check up on ya,â Buckyâs eyes shined brightly as he explained himself. A pink tint colored his cheeks and neck as he sheepishly stared down at the ground.Â
His shy nature made your lips tilt into a small smile of your own and you couldnât help thinking about how cute he looked like that, âthank you, thatâs very kind,â you mumbled out.
There was a beat of silence as you and Bucky avoided each other's eye contact before a familiar patronizing voice interrupted, âHey kid if youâre done flirtinâ with this guy can we go home? Iâm starvinâ right now,âÂ
âCalcifer!â you scold immediately, the familiar burn of pure embarrassment instantly appearing across your face.Â
Bucky, however, didnât seem to be bothered by the foxâs comment and burst out into a fit of deep chuckles, running his metal hand through the long tresses of rich brown hair.Â
âYour fox is cute,âÂ
The comment made Calcifer let out a gruff murmur of disagreement, making you join Bucky in his laughter, âYeah, Iâm really happy he chose to stay with me. Um... I should probably go. Cal hasnât eaten since breakfast and I still need to go to the butcher-â âThereâs a butcher in this town?â The pure curiosity on Buckyâs face made your smile grow that much more as he finally took in his surroundings.Â
âYeah, itâs about two blocks down from here, itâs Calcifer's favorite place,â You say, backing up a few steps to signal your exit.Â
âA-alright! well, uh it was nice meeting you! Maybe Iâll see you around sometime?â The male witch fumbles with his words as he realizes the conversation is ending.Â
âSure, maybe,â you nod in agreement, fully turning around and beginning the walk towards your destination.Â
As you walked away you couldnât help but let the small smile on your face grow. What a dork he was... Almost as awkward as you were, the way he kept messing with his hair- âHeâs still lookinâ at ya... And what was all that stuff you were thinking about getting robbed? Why were you so fixated on gettinâ robbed?âÂ
âCalcifer for christâs sake!â Your voice was filled with exasperation, rolling your eyes at the familiar's comments and ignoring the fact that the cute witch was still watching you walk away.
âAre you seriously thinking about how him staring at you is cute? Humans are so weird...âÂ
âStop reading my thoughts you creep!âÂ

A groan echoed throughout your apartment as a streak of the bright morning sun landed on your eyes and woke you from your slumber. Clapping a hand down onto your eyes to block the light, you roughly slide it down in hopes of wiping the fatigue that plagued you. Slowly but surely, you untangled yourself from your sheets, stretching your waking limbs and yawning with an over dramatic sound. You blindly felt around for your phone that was lying on the floor directly by your mattress. Once you located the small device, you tapped it on and read the time. 10:47 am, Sunday...Fantastic.Â
You laid on your mattress for a bit, unaware of anything but your tired bones. The only reason you didnât fall back asleep right then and there was the light buzz that came from your phone. You lazily picked it back up and stared at the too bright screen, taking a moment to comprehend the text that popped up on your home screen.Â
Wanda Maxi: Hey! Are you on your way?
What? On my way...
âOH FUCKâ You bolt out of bed, slipping on part of your sheet that was draped onto your wooden flooring and almost face planting.Â
âCalcifer wake up we gotta have brunch with Wanda and Vis!â you scream out to nothing specific, unaware of where your familiar was.Â
As quickly as possible, you gathered an outfit, shoved a toothbrush into your mouth to brush it a little too harshly, got your hair ready, and threw your clothes on. Itâs not until youâre almost done getting ready before you see the bright fox bolt in from the balcony, âHow could you forget about brunch? This happens every week for fucks sake!âÂ
âThis isnât entirely my fault! You knew about it too!â you argue while lathering deodorant onto your underarms, already sweating from the stress of the situation.Â
âIâm a fox! You think I keep alarms?â he yells back at you, not bothering to stop and look at you as he gathers your things while you hurriedly tried to shove your foot into a shoe.Â
Once your shoes were on and Calcifer had given you everything youâd need, you ran to your door and swung it open, âYou wanna run with me or do you want me to carry you?âÂ
âOh please you can barely run by yourself. You couldnât handle the weight,â Calcifer scoffs, running between your legs and out of the apartment.Â
You immediately lock your door and run after him, âSo rude...â you huff to yourself and catch up to the fox.Â
➠⎠âŠ
It only took you about five minutes to sprint across town and make it to the small clay cottage that your friends had lived in for years now. The mossy dark brown Terracotta roof and grey wooden door that had ivy vining in and out of it gave a lovely natural look to the house and you couldnât help but admire the wonderful home the couple had built.Â
Calciferâs quiet pants mixed with your wheezing as you stumbled up to the door and knocked loudly to signal your arrival. The door swung open, revealing a smirking Wanda.Â
âYou woke up late again didnât you?âÂ
Still catching your breath, you nodded and followed her into her home. Wanda looked gorgeous, as always, wearing a light and flowing yellow sundress with matching shoes and a pretty white ribbon that was tied into her hair.Â
âIâm so sorry Wanda, neither of us set an alarm,â you breathed out, following her towards the kitchen.Â
âItâs okay sweetie, we didnât have to wait or anything, all of us were busy talking about the latest man who was admitted into the Grand Council,â she smiled back at you, warm eyes shining from the sunlight that was coming through the glass doors that led to their garden.Â
You tilt your head in confusion when you realize her phrasing, âAll of us?âÂ
Wanda gently put a fist to her temple, her face twisting into a slight grimace, âIâm sorry sweetie I completely forgot to mention I invited some friends today! Donât worry, theyâre both great and Iâm sure youâll get along just fine,âÂ
You nod your head hesitantly, not entirely believing your friend. You wondered who she had invited... Many times over Wanda and Vision have told stories about their old friends who they had met throughout their lives. From your understanding, they had built a wonderful family together and had helped and cared for each other for years so you had no doubt they would be friendly.Â
Before you had time to voice whatever worries you had, you were interrupted by the fall of multiple pairs of footsteps. It didnât take long for three men to walk into the room, all talking enthusiastically over each other. You automatically recognized the slim man walking over to Wanda as Vision, his bright eyes greeting you as he wrapped his arms around Wandaâs slim waist.Â
You turn to the other two guests and are unable to hold in an audible gasp when you recognize one of them. Those chilling eyes copied yours as they widened to an almost comical size.Â
âY/n...â The sound of your name coming from his full, pink lips made your hands clam up.Â
He was dressed much more formal today with a navy blue sweater over a button up shirt, dark jeans and the cutest wing-tipped shoes youâd ever seen. He looked like he had just gotten out of church with his grandmother.Â
âH-hello..â you mutter back, a heavy cloud of confusion and stress surrounding itself around you.Â
âOh...Do you-do you guys know each other already?â Wanda tilts her head a curious finger flickering between the two of you as her squinting eyes try to find the connection.Â
Bucky glances at you, then Wanda, then back at you, as if to ask the question of who would be telling the tale of your meeting. You however settled for staring up at the ceiling, handing that responsibility off to Bucky.Â
âWe um, bumped into each other at the market the other day,â his answer comes after a slight moment of hesitation.Â
You held back a scoff at his choice of words... More like you ran over me and almost killed my familiar.Â
âOh great! So then youâll only have to meet Sam,â Wanda smiles and gestures to the stranger who had refrained from speaking up until now.Â
âNice to meet you, Iâm Sam Wilson,â he greets you with a bright smile, a charming gap between his two front teeth and a warm glow emanating from rich brown eyes that winked mischievously.Â
He was quite handsome and his automatic charm caused the fog of awkward shyness to thicken in your mind, âNice to meet you too,â you smile politely and shove your hand out for him to shake.Â
A deep chuckle sounds from within his muscular chest as he grasps your hand and gives a firm shake. You quickly tell him your name before stepping back and allowing a new conversation to start. It was hard to focus on what everyone was saying as you felt the obvious gaze of Bucky peering at you from across the kitchen. You found the best way to keep yourself from staring back at him was to focus on the small amount of dirt that you could see hidden underneath your nails. You really needed to get them done again... Although it gets pretty difficult to achieve correct measurements with the long pointy acrylics that seem to be your go-to choice.Â
âI dunno man, I just have really bad vibes about that Pierce guy... Steve agrees with me,â Samâs comment brings you back to the conversation which you had apparently zoned out of.Â
âWhere is Steven? I thought he said he would be able to attend today?â Vision, always the formal talker, had a questioning glint to his eyes as he switched his focus from Sam to Bucky, then back.Â
âLiberty wasnât feeling too good so he had to take her to a vet,â Bucky was the one to answer.
âLiberty?â a questioning tilt to your head signals your confusion.
Bucky smiles at you before answering, âYeah, sheâs Steveâs pet. Super cute golden retriever that he picked up at the pound a couple years back,â
âOh... Is he not a witch like you guys?â it surprised you that there was someone amongst their group that wasnât practicing magic.Â
Bucky subconsciously takes a step towards you, his body language changing to signal he was now solely focused on you, âYeah he tried a few years ago but, it didnât really go too well,âÂ
As Bucky answered he held up his metal prosthetic and wiggled his fingers, âAre you serious?! Your friend did that to you?â you gasp in shock, your eyes widening in amazement as you reach out to touch his arm without thinking.Â
The metal was smooth and you were so enamored by the new information as well as the mechanical appendage that you failed to notice how tense Bucky got and how multiple pairs of eyes were staring at you. Your fingertips gently ran over the cool ridges of metal sections, âWow... Did he turn your arm metal or did... did something else happen?â you glance between pretty blue eyes and steely metal.Â
Bucky slowly reaches his arm out so you have a better view of what itâs like, âActually that was kind of a joke,â he stutters, an awkward smile gracing his lips, âThe real story is way more depressing,â he mumbles.
You halt your movements and stare up at him, the familiar yet heavy weight of embarrassment settling itself deep within your chest, âO-oh... Iâm so sorry I didnât mean to overstep-â You pull your hands away, folding them tightly against your chest.Â
âNo itâs okay! Really Iâve had a lot worse interactions,â he chuckles and reassures you once again that you didnât overstep any boundaries.Â
You nod in understanding but inevitably go back into your default of shy silence. Bucky stares down at you with a kind smile in hopes of making you feel a little less like an ass. It doesnât work.Â
After a few moments of deafening silence, Wanda makes a move over to the oven, âAlright everyone, quiche time!âÂ
âArenât you vegan?â Bucky mumbles, walking over to the table and preparing to sit down. As Wanda gives her response and mentions the fake eggs she found at the market, you walk over to the table as well. Bucky pulls out the seat closest to you and gives you a reassuring nod. You give a thankful smile and sit down, allowing him to help you push it back towards the table.Â
âThank you,â your quiet voice has Bucky grinning as he sits down next to you.
âOf course, dollâÂ
Brunch goes off without any more awkward spells and with the help of Wandaâs amazing skills in the kitchen, you begin to feel yourself relax with each bite you take. The afternoon goes on with the others telling you about how they met, silly stories about their friendly adventures, and at some point the conversation turned to you and what it had been like growing up a witch. It was a unique characteristic that none of your friends, new or old, had experienced.Â
âWell, my dad is the one who originally got me into it... He was an aura reader like Wanda, and my mom focused more on spell casting and potions,â a warm grin on your lips signal the fondness your memories bring as you tell about your childhood, everyone was completely invested.Â
âespecially Buckyâ Calcifer pointed out silently, giving you a knowing smirk from where he sat on the floor next to you.Â
oh fuck off you stupid fox
➠⎠âŠÂ
With full stomachs and a few full containers of leftovers, you, Sam, and Bucky stood gathered outside of Wandaâs front door as you all belted out a chorus of goodbyeâs and excellent days.Â
âIt was really nice meeting you Y/n, make sure to keep in touch! Iâll be waiting for a carrier owl,â Sam winks at you as he begins to walk down the path towards the sidewalk, effectively leaving you and Bucky by yourselves.Â
âHe didnât even let me say goodbye back...â you mumble out, staring at the confident figure that now waited at the property line by a pretty bush of hydrangeas.Â
âYeah... Heâs weird like that,â Bucky agrees, glancing at his friend before fully turning his attention to you, âum so Iâve been meaning to maybe like... um maybe get your contact info? I just... I was maybe thinking we could grab like, tea or something sometime?â
As you take in Buckyâs words, you canât help but notice the awkward and anxious movements he had started, reminding you of the first day you had met him. It made your lips twitch up just slightly.Â
âOh? like, my phone number?â the dumb answer almost had you on your knees with how hard you cringed.Â
Bucky let out a breathy chuckle, âUh yeah, yeah or like maybe an address? Or ugh thatâs probably too personal-â âNo! no itâs um itâs not,â you answer a little too quickly, discreetly pinching the skin on the back of your hand as punishment for your blatant lack of social skills.Â
After a quick beat of neither of you knowing what to do, you finally speak back up, âYou could come over tomorrow if youâd like,âÂ
Stupid, stupid, stupid! Why would he want to come over so- âYeah Iâd love to!â Bucky answers enthusiastically, pulling his phone out from his back pocket and holding it out to you, âJust give me your number and I'll text you, we can figure out the details later, K?âÂ
You gingerly take the smartphone in your hands and type in your number, forgetting to put a name in for yourself before handing it back to him. Buckyâs hand slightly brushes yours as he takes it back and youâre too busy focusing on the lingering feeling on your hand that you miss the cheeky grin on Buckyâs face as he types in a contact name.Â
âHey tin soldier! You ready yet?â Samâs smooth voice has you turning around with a start at his unexpected call.Â
Bucky nods towards his friend, waving him off and turning back to you, âSo Iâll uh, see you tomorrow,âÂ
âTomorrow,â You confirm with a nod of your own.
Buckyâs smile grows tenfold and he takes a small step towards you, hesitating for only a moment before he leans in and gives a chaste kiss to the apple of your cheek. He doesnât wait around to see your reaction, jogging over to Sam and slapping him on the shoulder before walking off down the cobblestone streets.Â
Standing with your eyes the size of the moon and your face as hot as the goddamn sun, you donât fail to catch the string of comments that your sleazy little fox makes.Â
âOh Bucky please just take me away! Iâm too shy and socially inept to even speak to you properly, please I just love you sooooo much!â Calciferâs high pitched mocking made your blood boil as he wheezed with laughter.Â
âShut up you stupid fox!â you yell at him, hooking your foot underneath his belly and pushing up and forward to flip him on his side.Â
The reynard continued to cackle hysterically as you walked away from him. You could hear the broken comments he made as Calcifer continued to berate you on the bumpy interactions you always seemed to have with the handsome witch.Â
âYouâre sleeping outside tonight!â you call back to him, a smug tilt to your lips.
The laughing stopped immediately and was replaced by the clicking of little nails on mossy stone.Â
➠⎠âŠÂ
Calciferâs eyes were glued to your figure as you made a mad dash around your apartment to make sure everything was clean and properly put away. Your socks allowed you to slide across the wooden floors as you shoved the rest of your freshly cleaned towels into a closet and slam it shut. Quickly turning the other way to sprint then slide the rest of the way to your little kitchenette where an almost comically small oven bakes banana nut muffins.Â
âYou are a nervous wreck right now kid,â Cal points out, a hint of worry in his mostly humorous tone.Â
You look over at him, cringing at the realization that, yeah, you probably do look like a nervous wreck...
âItâs just that... No one has been over in a while and the last person that did come over was Wanda and I know she doesnât care all that much about my tidiness so it was okay but I have no clue as to how Bucky is going to react and it's not like I donât want to impress him, I mean I donât need to impress him like my life doesnât depend on what he thinks but,â âChristâs sake kid-â âI mean for gods sake my bed is on the floor! Heâll probably think Iâm some broke slob who-â Knock KnockÂ
âOh my gods,â you whisper scream, no doubt did your aura radiate pure panic...
You shuffle over to the door, shoving your face up against it to look through the peephole and make sure it was the only person you were expecting. Taking a deep breath, you try and center yourself, then open the door.Â
âGood morning, Bucky!â you greet, a bright smile on your face as you take in your guestâs appearance.Â
Bucky is looking extra handsome today as he wears a dark grey cardigan over a white shirt, dark fitted jeans and, to your extreme surprise, black Converse.
âHey, Dollâ he smiles back softly at you, quickly taking in your simple outfit of a cute yellow crop top and black shorts, âT-these are for you,â he mutters quickly and pulls a pretty bouquet of wildflowers out from behind his back.Â
You beam at the thoughtful gesture and Calcifer doesnât miss the sense of pride that Bucky gives off at your excited reaction, âWow, Bucky these are so cute! I love them, thank you very much,â gingerly taking the bundle of fragrant colors, you invite your guest inside and immediately go to your kitchenette to find a receptacle for them. Â
Once you find a nice little vase to put them in you spin back around to find Bucky looking around your small apartment, âUm...Itâs not much-but the rent is really good and since itâs just me and Cal it works out pretty nice. If you arenât comfortable we can always-â âI love it, Y/n. Itâs really... you,â he glances back towards you, the look in his eyes warming you from deep within your chest.Â
âHey, tin manâ the both of you jump slightly as Calcifer interrupts the thoughtful interaction.Â
Bucky crouches down and reaches his hand out to the fox, âHey... Nice to see you again CalciferâÂ
âWhereâs your dog?â completely ignoring Buckyâs polite greeting, Calcifer passes by him.Â
âOh uh... Sibi is still in training so I didnât think itâd be a good idea to bring her into someone elseâs home just yet,â the man answers awkwardly, dropping his hand and standing back up to his full height.Â
Calcifer be nice you little skeez.
Iâm just tryinâ get to know the guy, alright?Â
You roll your eyes at the red animal and tell him to go onto the balcony. He thankfully listens, giving you and Bucky some privacy.Â
âSorry about him... He can be a little difficult sometimes,â you apologize quickly, nervously rubbing your clammy hands on the front of your shorts.Â
Bucky chuckles and shakes his head, âItâs alright, I understand,âÂ
You give a questioning look at his phrasing and he quickly moves to elaborate, âWell, uh I guess-Ya know- since you guys are really close... I can understand why he would be protective because um, well since Iâm like Iâm trying to-â âTrying to what?âÂ
Buckyâs face was beet red as he tried and failed to explain himself to you, who had absolutely no idea what he was going on about, âIn any case, Iâm sure heâll warm up to you soon,â you smile warmly at him and turn towards your oven.Â
The embarrassed man watches as you take out the piping hot tray of muffins and set them out on the counter to cool. His stomach growls low as the deliciously sweet smell hits his nostrils.Â
âHow about we go sit down while those cool off?â you suggest and lead Bucky over to the small sofa that sat against the only free wall.Â
You tuck yourself into one corner, folding your legs so they were pressed against your chest as you tried to give Buck as much room as possible. It was quite adorable to see the tall, beefy guy try and squeeze himself onto your small couch. A quiet laugh escapes you and he glances towards you, his cheeks tinged pink, âGuess Mânot really made for studio apartment sized things,â he chuckles.Â
Glad to see he isnât upset about the cramped seating arrangement, you relax a little bit and start asking Bucky about his life. The two of you fall into easy conversation, talking about your childhood, past and current friends, how Bucky got into magic, your familiars and anything else that came to your minds.Â
By the time there was a slight lull in conversation, it was already mid afternoon and you couldnât help the growls that sounded from your stomach.Â
âUm, do you want me to make us some lunch? I have like, sandwich stuff or mac n cheese?â you ask, swinging your legs off the couch and standing up to stretch.Â
âYeah that sounds good, you want me to help?â Bucky follows your movements and you shake your head.Â
âSâokay, if you want you can go onto the balcony and Iâll be right out,â You smile up at him, turning to your little kitchen and focusing on making lunch.Â
Bucky makes his way out onto your balcony covered in vining plants and hanging bottles filled with god knows what. Calcifer was asleep on a slightly rusted chair in the corner, his tail and legs curled into his body, making him look like a furry ball of orange. Bucky had never seen a work space quite like it. Sam was more of a trader so there wasnât much potion making in the home they shared together. As he stared in wonder at all of the bottles covering the antique desk and a good part of the floor, curiosity got the best of him and Bucky couldnât help but to start picking them up and exploring what was inside.Â
Most of the bottles were labelled so he didnât need to worry about those ones, the curious man was more interested in the unmarked ones. Popping off the cork to a green glass bottle filled with a powder, he brought his nose up to sniff and immediately gagged at the overpowering scent.Â
âWhat is that?â he grumbled quietly to himself, closing that one and picking up a new one.Â
This bottle did in fact have a label, but it was chicken scratch and for the life of him, Bucky couldnât tell what the hell it meant as he picked up the murky glass bottle filled with what seemed to be a bright purple fog and opened it, taking in a quick whiff.Â
Almost immediately Bucky felt the effects of the mystery potion and he had to steady himself on the desk so he wouldnât fall over. Blinking a few times, he gathered his wits and slowly stood straight up.Â
âWhaaat are you doing?â Your curious voice from the sliding door made Bucky jump and spin around, hiding the bottle behind his back.Â
Your eyes quickly shift from the chilling blue irises of your guest to the suspicious amount of movement happening behind his large frame. Bucky lets out a quick scoff before answering, âWhat? Nothing, just checkin stuff out ya know,âÂ
His poor attempt at a casual demeanor was lost on you and it was quite evident in the suspicious squint of your eyes as you continued to stare at the man in front of you.Â
âWhich bottle did you sniff?â you ask flatly, sticking your hand out expectantly, the other hand making its way onto your hip.
âI-I didnât sniff any bottle,â Bucky mutters out, metal hand going up to scratch the back of his neck awkwardly.
You waited only a moment before he spoke again, seemingly unable to hold back his comment, âThatâs a lie I sniffed this bottle,â
He immediately took a bottle out from behind his back and placed it in your still awaiting palm. You knew what it was as soon as you saw the color of the substance inside and began to laugh. It was the hardest you had laughed all day and the resounding noise of your joyous fit surely made its way down to the cobblestone streets below. Your right hand left its initial place on your hip and placed itself over the left side of your chest as you bent over to steady yourself.Â
âY-you just inhaled a shit ton of Truth-Be-Told Smokeâ You cackled out loudly.Â
Bucky, though entirely confused, couldnât help the smile that painted itself onto his pink lips as he stared at your beautiful figure shaking from the prettiest laughing fit he had ever heard, âYour laugh is really pretty,â he blurted out, immediately slapping his hand over his mouth afterwards.Â
The compliment startled you enough to calm your laughter and straighten your posture back out, âThank you, Buck. So Iâm just gonna assume youâre wondering whatâs happening right now,â He answered you by quickly nodding his head.
You giggled and continued on, âBasically, this stuff is used mainly as a partial ingredient in other potions, but by itself, especially undiluted, itâs a high performing truth serum. You wonât be able to say anything except for what comes to your mind for quite some time,âÂ
âThat makes me really nervous,â Buckyâs voice sounds strained as the hand that was covering his mouth moves to wipe down his face in stress.
âWell donât go sniffinâ a girlâs potions next time!â you giggle out, walking over to return the potion to its proper place.Â
âYou smell really good,â before you have a chance to react bucky groans in frustration, âFuck I am so sorry,âÂ
A light laugh escapes your lips and you look up at Buckyâs grimacing face, âItâs okay, I donât mind. Plus itâs nice to know I made the right decision on what body wash to buy,âÂ
You motion Bucky to follow you back inside, ensuring there would be no more accidental roofying. Two sandwiches sit side by side on the small sofa, a little pile of chips next to each one.Â
âThis is really kind of you, Y/nâ Bucky smiles, lifting up both plates of food and waiting for you to get comfy next to him before handing you one.Â
âItâs no problem Bucky, youâre my friend now and-â âI don't want to be your friend,â he bursts out, making you frown.
Bucky quickly fixes his mistake, âNo sorry- I uhm- I misspoke I-I donât want to just be your friend.â another grimace makes its way onto his face, âThatâs embarrassing for me to say, Iâm embarrassed,âÂ
If you werenât already sweating nervously, you were now. Clammy hands grip at the paper plate on your lap as you try and will your face to extinguish the fire that has engulfed it. âB-Bucky, I umâŠâÂ
âIâm sorry I said that⊠It probably makes you never want to see me again,â Bucky mutters out, anxiously playing with the small pile of potato chips.
âActuallyâŠâ you begin, taking a deep breath and continuing, âIt doesnât bother me at all,â
Bucky lets out a long breath of air, âHoly shit really? Thatâs fucking awesome because I wasnât gonna tell ya that today but then I smelt that thing and Iâm sweating real bad right now with how nervous I am-I should not have said that, but now that you said what you just said-âÂ
You put your hand up, signaling for the witch to stop his word vomit and laughed, âBucky you donât need to worry⊠Honestly, I am just as nervous as you,âÂ
Maybe it was because of the state Bucky was currently in, maybe it was because of something completely unrelated, but it made you feel brave enough to admit more than what you wouldâve ever imagined. Bucky somehow willed himself into eating his sandwich, stopping every once in a while to blurt out a random compliment about you, the food, your apartment, anything. He even complimented how adorable it was that your mattress was on the floor, saying it just made everything feel so much comfier and he wished his apartment was like this. You took the comments in stride on the outside, though on the inside you were dying out of embarrassment. No one had ever said such nice things about you, and to the volume that Bucky was going, even if it was against his will, it still shocked you a bit.
By the time you were both done eating, the effects of the smoke seemed to slow down a bit, which allowed the nervous man beside you to withhold all of his thoughts, though it did keep him from lying still. As you stood to clean up the plates and napkins used during lunch, Bucky mimicked you, following you to the kitchen.Â
âToday was really nice Bucky...Thank you for coming over,â you smile up at the tall man beside you and try not to swoon when he returns the warm smile.
There wasnât a beat of hesitation before Bucky responded, âIt was my pleasure, sweetheart,â
The term of endearment had your face aflame, something that has become a recurring struggle whenever you were around Bucky and his stupid compliments that always got to you.Â
âYa know, youâre quite the sweet talker when thereâs nothing holding you back,â you tease playfully, making Bucky let out a quick bark of laughter.Â
âWas I not a sweet talker before? I must have had some kinda skill since ya let me spend the whole day here,â a sly smirk is pulling at the corners of his lips as Bucky leans down closer to you in a mocking way.
You roll your eyes and put a hand to his shoulder, effectively pushing him away and giving yourself some much needed space. If you didnât breathe properly soon, you were gonna pass out.
Bucky stayed at your place for a bit longer until he got a text from Sam saying that Sibi was getting anxious and that she missed him. You couldnât help the grin that made its way onto your face when he explained why he had to leave, thinking it was absolutely adorable that Bucky was the only one who was able to calm that gigantic wolf. When it was time for him to go, it became a waiting game of who was going to initiate the final goodbye.Â
Standing by your front door, leaning on the trim, you stared into the piercing blue eyes of the man opposite of you, completely unsure of what to say. In all honesty, you didnât think itâd go this well. For Bucky to spend the entire day cramped up in your apartment with you, eating snacks and joking around as if you had known each other for years⊠It shocked you a bit when you truly thought about it.Â
Bucky sighed, leaning against the opposite frame of the door as he stared back down at you, âSoâŠâ a nervous hand came up to subconsciously tangle into the hairs on the nape of his neck, the Truth Be Told must be wearing off, âI um⊠Today was really great,â
You nod your head in agreement, âYeah it uh-it was,â your fingers begin to tangle and pull at each other.Â
âDo you...Maybe wanna...Do it again? Soon?â he mumbles out, breaking eye contact as he begins to focus on his shoes.Â
A little pinch to the back of your hand ensures that what you just heard was real and you nod, âyes, thatâd be awesome! I um⊠Whenever youâre free of course,âÂ
Y/n and Tin Man sittinâ in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!
You quickly turn around to see Calcifer prancing in a circle in the middle of your apartment, a sly grin on his face.Â
Gods what are you Five? Shut up you stupid fox! Iâm gonna throw you off the balcony!
âDoll? You okay?â Bucky chuckles lightly as he sees your face scrunched up into a cute little scowl that makes him want to squish your face between his hands.Â
Calcifer's annoying cackles were heard echoing in your apartment as you turned back around to face Bucky, âYeah, yeah no Iâm good⊠You were saying?âÂ
âJust that I was free on Thursday, if you maybe wanted to get coffee with me⊠But itâs really no big deal if you donât want to, I would understa-â âNo! Er-I mean yes! Yes. I would love to get coffee with you on Thursday,â You cringe at your awkward response and bite the inside of your lip to keep yourself from screaming in embarrassment.Â
The bright smile on Buckyâs face grounds you a little bit and gives you the courage to meet his pretty blue irises, âSo Doll, I uh was thinking-â Before he can finish his thought, Buckyâs phone pings loudly, making you jump a little, âSorryâ He murmurs.
Snatching it from the pocket of his jeans, Bucky takes a look then immediately lets out a quiet sigh, âThatâs Sam, I really gotta go,âÂ
Trying not to let the disappointment show, you nod your head and straighten up, silently wishing he could stay longer, âOkay...Um Iâll see you on Thursday thenâŠâÂ
Buckyâs head tilts to the left as he considers your shy demeanor and he canât help but reach out with his right hand and lightly grasps yours, âIâll see you on Thursday, pretty girl,âÂ
You suck in a breath, feeling Bucky lightly tug on your hand and willingly following his lead. Taking a tiny step forward, which was really all you could take with how close the two of you were all ready, the breath your holding tightens in your chest as Bucky leans down closer to you. You could feel the warmth of his breath on your cheek, the brush of his long eyelashes ghosting over your temples, and the light squeeze on your wrist from his large hand. Buckyâs lips were soft as they pressed against the corner of your mouth in a light kiss that made you feel like you were in the clouds.
It didnât last as long as youâd like and once he pulled away, you were able to let out the painful breath that stayed in your lungs for way too long. Bucky gave a quick wave before backing up a few paces, turning around, and walked the rest of the way down the hall. Leaving you to stand there breathless with the lingering feeling of his soft touches.Â
âYou two are gross,â The floaty feeling that had fallen over you evaporated as you heard the familiarâs voice from behind you.Â
âIâm gonna hit you so hard,â You yell over your shoulder, turning around and slamming the door behind you. You pick up a slipper by your door and make your way over to the cackling fox.Â
âW-wait wait! OWâÂ
âStupid foxâ
➠⎠âŠÂ
-3 Months Later-
âSteve câmon, stop interrogating my girl and come help set the tent up!â Steve turns his attention from you to his best friend, a smile on his face as he gets up to help Bucky set up the large canvas tent.Â
âWe will continue this later,â the blonde says pointedly before leaving you by yourself at the wooden picnic table.Â
It had only been a little over three months since you had met Bucky Barnes, exactly two since he had worked up the courage to officially ask you to be âhis girlâ as he put it, and two hours since you had properly met Steven Rogers. How you had gone so long without meeting Buckyâs platonic other half was beyond you, but apparently the guy was a busy bee, and since your little potion shop out of your apartment had taken off, you didnât exactly have much free time on your hands either. Fortunately, with a little luck and a lot of asking around for favors and covers for work, You, Bucky, Steve, Sam, Wanda, Vis, and all of your respective animals were able to take a long weekend to go camping.Â
âAre you guys ready to eat? These sandwiches wonât keep for much longer,â Wanda stands up from the green metal cooler, hands full of deli sandwiches that she had made for the trip.Â
A chorus of agreeance sounded across the cozy little site you had booked as you all gathered around the redhead. Bucky came up beside you, wrapping his metal arm around your waist and placing a soft kiss to the crown of your hair.Â
âYou excited for the weekend, doll?â he murmurs into your hair sweetly before placing a few more kisses there.Â
You laugh lightly at his endearing behavior and smile up at him, âOf course I am Buck. I may never get the chance to spend this much time outside of my apartment again,â you joke, leaning up on your tiptoes to kiss your boyfriend on the sharp line of his jaw.Â
After everyone had gotten a sandwich, along with whatever they wanted to drink or eat with it, you all squeezed onto the benches of the picnic table and began to chow down. Everyone talked animatedly about what the plans were for the rest of the weekend. Swimming, fishing, âBuilding a bomb ass fireâ as Sam gracefully put it, all of it sounded like a blast to you. If you were being honest, you were just excited to be out of your apartment for more than a few hours at a time.Â
âSo, youâre a potion maker huh?â Steve asks, mouth half full of potato chips.Â
Bucky lets out a groan and rolls his eyes, âStevie let the girl breathe for fucks sake,âÂ
The group laughs at Buckyâs annoyance, but then looks at you, âWell, uh yeah⊠I um was taught at a young age, so itâs something Iâm really good at and I know itâs not the best job or anything-â ''Itâs an awesome job, kid. I think youâre doing real good. Our own little entrepreneurial witch!â Sam interrupts your babbling, a bright smile on his face as he pats your back just a little too forcefully.
âI mean⊠Iâm not a witch so I obviously donât really get it like everyone else does, but you seem to be doing really well,â Steve assures you, sending a sense of pride into your chest.Â
You had managed to impress Steve Rogers⊠Not bad, Y/n.
The guy is actinâ like heâs Tin Man's father⊠The hell is that about?
You turn your head over to where Calcifer is curled up on a dark blue camping chair, bright yellow eyes trained on the blonde man who was still stuffing his mouth with food.Â
Calcifer theyâve been friends for ages, itâs normal.
The fox lets out a quiet snuff in response before getting up from the chair and trotting over to the table.Â
âCal do you want some of my turkey?â Bucky asks, taking a few pieces of turkey from his sandwich and setting it beside him on the table.Â
Calcifer doesnât answer, just hops up on the bench and silently eats the portion of meat. Itâs taken a while for Calcifer to warm up to Bucky⊠And though progress if few and far between, the two have definitely gotten closer in the past couple of weeks. The biggest issue at first was how crazy Sibi acted around other familiars, but after a while and a good amount of training from you and Bucky, the hyperactive wolf finally settled and was on track to be a wonderful helper for her witch in training.Â
âSo⊠Do you guys have any plans of moving in together soon?â Wanda hesitates as she not so sneakily takes a chip from Visâs plate.Â
You and Bucky look to each other for only a moment before responding, âWeâve been looking at places to go. Itâs hard cause we wanna stay in Adelaide but without buyinâ a whole house, there arenât many options for apartments,â Bucky explains, a small shrug to his shoulders.Â
âAnd thereâs no way all four of us could fit in my apartment,â you add, copying Buckyâs shrug.Â
Neither of you were in too much of a hurry to find a place of your own, as you were both content in the homes you were in now. The idea of living with Bucky was quite appealing but you knew the more realistic thing to do would be to wait, save, and research to make sure you both lived in a comfortable environment.Â
âYou guys are so cute it makes me wanna die! Who knew youâd be the ultimate witchy power couple?â Wandaâs swooning caused you to laugh a little as Vision looked at her with mock hurt in his eyes as if to say âwhat are we then?â
Before anyone had a chance to add on, an unexpected voice responded, âI did,âÂ
Your laughter immediately ceased and your attention snapped over to the other side of Buckyâs large frame. Calcifer sat proudly on his haunches as he gazed back at your shocked face.Â
âW-what do you mean you knew?â Bucky stuttered, equally as shocked as you were.Â
âI just knew. From the first day you guys met, it was obvious it was that true love bullshit you humans talk about,â the fox brushes off both yours and Buckyâs shock as if it was nothing.Â
The rest of the group laughs as the pair of you stutter out broken objections to Calciferâs claim, âA-are you kidding me Cal? That stuff is like⊠a myth or something,âÂ
âYeah, I mean Iâm in love with Y/n nâ all but-â âYouâre in love with me?âÂ
All of the banter around the table halts as five pairs of eyes stare at a now tomato faced Bucky Barnes. âU-um, yes. Yeah-I um, yeah Iâm in love with youâŠâ Buckyâs voice is quiet and youâre not sure if he actually said what you heard, but that thought is soon wiped from your mind as an eruption of cheers sounds from your friends.Â
A grin makes its way onto your face as you stare up at those pretty blue eyes that you really never got tired of looking at, and you canât help but bring your hand up to run along the stubble of Buckyâs jaw, âIâm in love with you, BuckâÂ
Bucky lets out a sigh of relief and immediately leans down to press his lips against yours in a passionate kiss, both of his large hands framing each side of your face to pull you closer to him.Â
âTold ya soâÂ
âShut up you stupid fox!â

Can a Glass Pet Door be Repaired?
If you have a pet door and that too of a glass, your major worry would be, can a glass pet door be repaired? Well, of course it can be like any other doors unless the glass is broken into a half. Even a broken glass can be replaced if cannot be repaired. Now the question is how and when to get your glass doors repaired or replaced, when is the calling time? Maintenance of glass doors is not a tough task and do not call for heavy budgeting.
Struggling with opening and closing the doors: Sometimes you would experience trouble in opening the door, it can be getting stuck at hinges or could have chipped from somewhere. These create hindrance and restricts the movement. This can be replaced easily.
Rollers: This is essentially for sliding doors as shower screens in Adelaide, many times users face difficulty in sliding the door, it gets jammed. This is because of the faulty rollers, and need to be changed for smoothness.
Damaged Glass: A small chip on the glass door is enough to let warm or cool breeze enter the house. Usually, we do not care about pet doors, but continuous movement of the pets can cause a small dent and air could be passing and coming through it. Thatâs the time for glass replacement in Adelaide.
Gap: A glass pet door would need to be repaired when the gap between the frame and the door widens. Take a look, it could be due to several reasons, which an expert can identify and do the required.

Elves
(Story Post)
âStop⊠I'm sorry, please stop... I can'tâŠâ âOkay, um⊠Hold on, let me justâŠâ âSorryâŠâ âDon't be⊠Did I hurt you?â âNo, I just can't right nowâŠâ âIt's fine, I'll just⊠Where's your bathroom?â âAcross the hallâŠâ âGive me a minute, yeah?â âYeah. Sorry⊠Do you want the wi-fi password?â âHaha, no, it's okay⊠I'll manage.â
Once the bathroom door closed, Theo curled up under the covers in shame. He didn't know what came over him, but he suddenly just felt like everything was completely wrong. But why? He was living through a fantasy; this tall hot dark elf man was here in his apartment wanting to have sex with him and they were both turned on soâŠwhy did it feel so wrong? After two minutes Korsy came back, his pants done up but his sculpted chest still on full display. He looked guilty, but trying to look unbothered as he sat back down on the bed. âI'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable orâŠâ Korsy rubbed his neck. âI mean, I don't know what to sayâŠâ âDon't, you did nothing wrong at allâŠâ Theo said. âI don't know what's wrong with me right now⊠I was really excited, but I just⊠I don't think I can have sex like thisâŠâ âMaybe is it the pregnancy?â Korsy asked. âI heard it can affect libido and stuffâŠâ âI don't know⊠I don't think soâŠâ Theo sat up and rubbed his knees. âI just⊠I don't think I can have sex outside of a relationshipâŠâ âOhhhh⊠Okay, no, that's totally chill.â Korsy chuckled. âI get that.â âYou do?â Theo asked. âWell, obviously I don't feel that way myself, but I understand that it's a requirement for a lot of people,â Korsy said. âI totally respect that.â Theo looked at Korsy and pouted. âI'm really sorry.â âNaw, naw, please don't apologise,â Korsy said. âThe last thing I want is to put you through sex you're not comfortable having. I'm glad you asked me to stop.â âI just wish I was all the way in it with youâŠâ Theo sighed. âLike, I don't want to ruin your night.â âYou can't and you didn't. I'm not upset. I'm not disappointed. I'm not mad. And even if you did âruin my night', which you didnât, it's way more important that you feel comfortable.â âWell⊠Thanks, KorsyâŠâ Theo said. âYou're a good guyâŠâ âTrying my best,â Korsy said. âAt the end of the day, sex is different for us and we weren't compatible. That's all.â Theo nodded quietly. Korsy patted Theo's knee. âDo you want a hug?â Theo nodded again and opened his arms. âPlease.â Korsy scooted closer to him and wrapped his arms around the pregnant man. âIt's alright, okay? Just relax⊠We can keep talking elf stuff⊠Or I can get out of here if you'd rather thatâŠâ âCan you stay, actually?â Theo asked, hugging him back. âIf you can⊠You don't have toâŠâ âI can stay.â Korsy rubbed Theo's back then let go. âI'm a little thirsty though⊠Mind if I grab a glass of water?â âYeah, I have a pitcher in the fridge,â Theo said. âThere's also juice or some ginger ale, I thinkâŠâ Korsy got off the bed. âDo you want anything?â âGinger ale?â Theo requested. âPlease.â âNo problem. I'll be right back.â Korsy disappeared down the hall for a few minutes. Theo still felt very embarrassed, but he could feel himself calming down. He didn't expect Korsy to be as nice about all this as he was and it was a bit overwhelming. When Korsy got back with two glasses, he handed Theo his ginger ale and then sat back down. âYou have a nice place. Balcony's a good view.â âThanks.â Theo took a sip of his ginger ale and suddenly realised how parched he was. He hadn't really eaten or drunk anything since before the group meeting. âStreet gets a bit noisy, but I like itâŠâ âI saw a bowl on the balcony. Do you have a cat?â Korsy asked. âDoesnât smell like it.â âNo, there's just a building cat that stops by every once in a while,â Theo said. âAnd you feed it? How noble.â âI guess⊠Theyâre good company.â âThat's fair.â âDo you have any pets?â Theo asked. âI do actually,â Korsy said. âMy girl, Adelaide.â âWhat is she, a dog?â âA snake actually,â Korsy said. âAh, so you're a snake guy,â Theo said. âYou say that like it's weird.â âIt's not weird⊠Just different.â Korsy pulled his leg up to rest on the bed and leaned back. âI don't like all snakes. Just Adelaide.â âIt's fine, I'm not judging you,â Theo said. âIt's not like you have a snake tattoo.â âWellâŠâ Korsy rubbed his neck. âNot exactlyâŠâ Theo's eyes widened. âShow me. Where?â Korsy sighed and pulled up his pant leg. Where Theo expected to see skin and ink he actually was surprised to find a prosthetic leg with a snake engraved down the back of the calf. âOh, so cool!â Theo admired. âI wouldn't even have guessed⊠And never seen such sleek prosthetic beforeâŠâ âElven tech,â Korsy said before pulling his pant leg back down. âNo touching.â âNo worries, I won't,â Theo said. âBut can I askââ âInjury, not congenital,â Korsy stated. âAnd no, I don't want to talk about it.â âOh, okay. That's fine,â Theo said. âThanks for telling me.â âNo worries.â Korsy took a drink from his cup. âOh, and I went for the juice. I haven't had Tropicana in a long time.â âYeah, I've been craving orange juice lately,â Theo said. âDo you wanna see my tattoos?â âSure. I saw that nerd circle on your wrist,â Korsy pointed out. âWhat else you got? âUm, just thisâŠâ Theo pulled up his shirt sleeve to show the Tri-Force. âEh, nerd triangle. Now you just need like a nerd square to complete the set,â Korsy chuckled. âMaybe, like⊠A Minecraft block. Yeah, that'd do it.â Theo pouted. âThese tattoos mean a lot to me.â âDon't sweat it. It's cool being a nerd. My bro's a big nerd like you,â Korsy said. âPassionate. Good feature.â Before Theo could respond, he heard his door open in the front hall and he sat up. âTheo? You awake, buddy?â he could hear Henderson calling as he let himself in. âRoommate?â Korsy whispered. âSort ofâŠâ Henderson stopped by the door and then his eyes widened when he noticed the elf. âOh! Well, hello!â Korsy waved smiling. â'Sup?â Henderson was suddenly beaming like a mad man. âHi! Am I interrupting?â âNo, just hanging out,â Korsy said. âI'm Korsy.â âNo way, I've heard about you!â Henderson said. âYou're that top agent kid, right?â âHenderson, do you need something?â Theo asked, suddenly irritated. âWell, I just⊠I felt bad that I left you at APID alone and so I tried calling you but I never got through so I figured I'd make sure you got home safely, but clearly I had nothing to worry about,â Henderson said, waving a hand in Korsy's general direction. Theo looked around for his phone and found it in his pants on the floor. âSorry, no ringer⊠But didn't you have a date?â âYeah, we finished. Can't you tell?â Henderson lifted his shirt and proudly patted his slightly distended belly. âYulinian, nice,â Korsy complimented. âLooks like a good egging.â âRight? I'm fucking stuffed,â Henderson said. âAnyway, I'll get out of your hair. Iâm not allowed to keep these. You kids have fun.â âThanks, man,â Korsy said. Henderson ducked out and the door closed behind him. Korsy turned to find Theo now buried under the covers. The elf patted where he expected Theo's head to be. âNot a roommate?â Korsy asked. âNo⊠He's just a friendâŠâ âBut you like him.â âWhat? NoâŠâ Korsy chuckled. âCome on, you went beet red when you heard his voice. Don't act like you're not into him.â Theo pulled the covers down. âHenderson and I wouldn't work. He's not right for me.â âWhy? He cares a lot about you,â Korsy said. âPlease, just leave it.â âOkay, okayâŠâ Korsy shrugged. âBut tell me, why did you act like you've never met an elf before?â âWhat do you mean?â Theo asked. âYou're the first elf I've ever met.â âOh, come on,â Korsy said. âYou're telling me that someone as obsessed as you are can't even tell that guy is an elf?â Theo pulled a face. âWho, Henderson?â âUh, who else?â âHenderson is not an elf,â Theo said. âI would know.â âYeah, you should know. First of all, the ears are a dead giveaway,â Korsy said. âHis ears arenât that pointy,â Theo said. âAnd anyway, I met a dude today who had pointy ears for a whole other reason.â âWell, obviously ears arenât the only thing,â Korsy said. âBut that guy has to be, like, at least a quarter elf. Elves know elves, dude.â âIf Henderson was an elf, heâd tell me,â Theo said. âI donât know what to tell you, man,â Korsy said. âHeâs an elf. Iâm 100% sure of that.â Theo pouted. âWhy wouldnât he tell me?â âThatâs between you two,â Korsy said. âBut you should talk to him. Like, whatâs stopping you?â âYou just saw, he can get anyone he wants!â Theo said. âHe just fucked a Yulinian! I canât compare to that.â âTheo, I think youâve got some stuff to work through,â Korsy said. âElf, Yulinian, human⊠No species is above another. Preference is fine, but at the end of the day, the people that care about you do so simply because they care about you. If you grew a tail and horns tomorrow, you wonât be any more important or special than you are today.â Theo frowned and covered his face. âYouâre right, Iâm sorryâŠâ âDonât be.â âNo, I used you,â Theo said. âI treated you like a novelty just because youâre an elfâŠâ âDonât sweat it,â Korsy said. âIâm hot. I know. And I kinda used you too. Never been with a pregnant dude.â âBut I couldnât even finishâŠâ âHey, weâre not gonna go into that again. Itâs over. And, you know, I think youâre kinda cool.â âIâm really not.â âNo, you are.â Korsy tapped Theoâs arm. âIâll leave you my number. Iâm away from home a lot, but they usually donât send me out of country so, you know, I got country wide calling. You can call me if you ever want to talk. Iâll try to make time.â âThatâs really cool, Korsy,â Theo said. âThanks.â âDonât sweat it,â Korsy said. âDo you wanna watch a movie or something? Oh, youâre nerdy enough. Do you have Disney+?â âYeah but just for the Mandalorian.â âBaby Yoda. Letâs do it. Put it on, man.â âOkay, okay, hold on a minuteâŠâ

Sunshine p. 6
This took me so long to write that I
A. Forgot about it
And
B. Donât even like it that much anymore
But I wanted to get it out and posted so I can finish the series (maybe??) in the next part, start on the request I have and maybe finish or abandon the other thing Iâm writing but donât think I like enough to post, so itâs just There.
Anyway, here it is.
6 months later.
Adelaide sat in a spinning desk chair next to the men in charge of production on Panic!âs first record. She watched with a smile on her face as Brendon sang his heart out on the other side of the plexiglass in front of her.
Brendon and the band, now officially known as Panic! At The Disco, had signed with Fueled By Ramen six months prior, and they were nearly finished with the recording process of the album. Brendon had to come in to re-record a few vocals to finish off the song they were working on so it could be sent off to master, and Adelaide wanted to come with. She loved being in the studio in general, and it certainly helped that she loved seeing Brendon shine at what he did.
He finished the final note of the song and opened his eyes, searching for hers. He saw them quickly and threw her a wink and a smile, her smile beamed and blew him a kiss in return.
âAlright that was great Brendon, I think thatâll do it for today!â The producer told him through the speaker system inside the booth. The other guys who had come in to see the progress had left with waves and nods in their direction. Brendon held a thumbs up and removed his headphones, placing them on the stool in front of him. He quickly entered the room where his producer and his girlfriend were both seated, Adelaide much more excited for his return than the man sitting next to her. She stood from her seat and ran to Brendon, giving him a big hug and kissed him all over his face. He wrapped his hands around her waist gently.
âSo I take it you like the song huh?â He said with a smirk. She giggled and nodded, kissing him once more on the lips this time, which he gratefully accepted.
âReady to head home?â He asked her happily. She nodded and took his hand. Brendon and Adelaide said goodbye and walked hand in hand to Brendonâs car.
Adelaide showered Brendon with praise the whole walk while swinging their arms happily. Brendon just thanked her and smiled, still shaky on the whole âaccepting a complimentâ thing.
âSo I was thinking we just spend the rest of the day at home? Hang by the pool, watch some movies, order some food, hang out with the puppies?â Brendon suggested.
âThat sounds great baby.â Adelaide told him, smiling softly. He smiled back and kissed her quickly.
Over the last six months, a lot had changed for Brendon and Adelaide. They had officially moved in together, and shortly after rented an actual house with a yard, and had recently adopted another dog to keep Pumpkin company. He was a little Jack Russell Terrier and thankfully got along great with Pumpkin. They decided to name him Bogart, after Humphrey Bogart of course.
Brendon smiled back lovingly at Adelaide as they reached his car.
The drive home was quiet, not uncomfortably so, but the two were both in their own heads. Brendonâs thoughts drifted to the small black velvet box he had purchased just days ago that was currently hiding in the back of his nightstand drawer, which held the ring he was working up the courage to ask Adelaide to be his wife with. It was simple and classy, much like his girlfriend. She never wanted flashy things, despite all the things Brendon would try to buy for her, so he knew that a simple, delicate ring would be perfect for her. He had constantly been going over how he wanted to propose in his mind. Public or private, fancy or casual, he had absolutely no idea. The only thing he knew was that he wanted her to say yes. If he thought about their future too much he would almost start to cry, so he knew they would both be in tears when the day finally came and he actually asked her the question that had been on his mind from the day he met her.
He shook his head a little to clear his mind as he pulled the car into their driveway. Brendon reached over and gave Adelaide a soft, slow kiss before unbuckling and getting out to open her door.
âWhat was the sweet kiss for? I loved it, donât get me wrong.â Adelaide asked him, reaching for his hand.
âJust like kissing youâ he said with a shrug and a smile as they walked inside.
Adelaide didnât question it any further, mostly due to the rush of dogs running toward them in pure excitement.
Brendon and Adelaide spent a few minutes petting the dogs, scratching their heads and asking if they were good boys while they were gone. As per usual, they were.
The rest of their afternoon was spent lazily floating on rafts in their pool, Adelaide enjoying some wine while Brendon smoked a joint or two. Adelaide called it the two celebrating the band finishing another song, but Brendon just preferred to call it âMy ideal afternoon with my lady.â
They decided to come inside around sundown, and ordered a pizza for dinner.
Brendon heard movement and looked up from his phone, smiling when he saw Adelaideâs face.
âAw, youâre so cute with your little sunkissed cheeksâ he called to her as she came back downstairs after showering and changing from her swimsuit. Brendon had showered first since he took much less time, and was already on the couch in just his sweatpants and glasses.
âYou know whatâs way cuter? These freckles of yoursâ Adelaide told Brendon, kissing his bare shoulder which was warm and extra freckled from the sun as she sat down next to him on the couch, leaning her head on his chest.
Brendon kissed the top of her head lightly and wrapped his arms around her. Adelaide looked up at him and made a kissy noise, gently grabbing his face and bringing it to hers for a slow, soft kiss.
âI love you.â he whispered.
Adelaide smiled and softly replied, as she ran a finger up and down his jawline.
âI love you too.â
It was right then and there that Brendon had made his decision, as he stared into the eyes of the love of his life, he saw his whole future flash before his own.
âIâll be right backâ Brendon says quickly, moving Adelaideâs body off of his so he could go grab the small ring box he stashed away for safekeeping. Bogart followed closely behind him, his nap disturbed by Brendonâs sudden movement.
He reached into the back of his drawer and flipped the velvet box open, revealing the ring. He smiled softly and closed the lid, running back down the stairs. Adelaide sat on the couch alone, still confused by Brendonâs sudden departure.
âBrendon what are you- oh my godâ Adelaide said breathlessly, placing her now trembling hands on her chest as Brendon knelt down in front of her. Her heart was beating a hundred miles a minute. Her face broke into the biggest smile she could imagine.
âAdelaide, Iâve been trying to figure out the most perfect and beautiful way to do this for weeks, because you deserve the most perfect and beautiful version of everything in this world, and I realized that I donât think there could be a more perfect moment than right here, just the two of us in our little bubble. Iâll never forget the day I met you, and how much of an asshole I was to you, and you still gave me a chance.â He laughed a little and cleared his throat. He shifted his position slightly and grabbed one of Adelaideâs hands, both of them shaking in each otherâs grasp. Adelaide wiped at the waterfall of happy tears running down her face with her free hand as she continued to sob. âI love you more than words could possibly say, youâve picked me up when Iâve fallen, youâve believed in me when I didnât, and youâve saved me more than youâll ever know. I want to have a life and a family with you. I want to be those old people sitting on a porch together. I know life is about to get crazy with my music, but I canât imagine getting through it without you by my side. I would love more than anything to be able to call you my wife, and for us to spend the rest of forever together. So, Adelaide, will you marry me?â He popped the box open to reveal the ring of Adelaide's dreams. Brendonâs voice had cracked and shook the entire time as he desperately tried to hold back from crying right along with Adelaide. He held his breath awaiting her response.
She could only nod her head rapidly, and it was enough for Brendon to hop up from his position, placing the ring on her hand, and gently grabbing her face to kiss her lips through both of their tears as he sat back on the couch next to her. He pulled her into his arms for a tight hug.
âI love you so much,â she whispered. âI canât wait to be your wifeâ
Brendon pulled away and wiped some of her tears, then wiping his own that had escaped his eyes.
âI canât wait either, Sunshine.â He said, kissing her once more. His thumb stroked her cheek softly once they pulled apart, but their moment was interrupted by the doorbell.
âOh shit, pizzaâ Brendon exclaimed, quickly wiping away at the rest of the tears in his eyes as he ran to the door. He thanked the driver and handed him his tip, closing the door and coming back to Adelaide the couch.
âI guess this isnât the most romantic meal but⊠engagement pizza?â
Adelaide laughed before grabbing a slice.
âEngagement pizza!â
They âcheers-edâ their slices together and began eating. The two enjoyed their engagement pizza while they talked and laughed with each other, discussing their wedding, and their future together, as they had done so many times before. Usually, theyâd have these talks when they were laying in bed at night and it felt like more of a dream than their reality. Now it was real, and neither Brendon nor Adelaide could contain their excitement.

Chapter 1
Chapter 2
May 9, 2020
An old, solid wood door with a cheap hook lock separated Chris Evans and the four women who had showed up over an hour early to Addy's third birthday party. They had brought their children, all of who Addy had been happy to see, but the four moms were way overdressed, or rather underdressed, for a preschool party. One mom was wearing a tight pair of black jeans with a silk top that barely concealed her breasts, while another was wearing a black leather skirt, a partially see through maroon top and a pair of knee high boots. The other two moms were wearing dresses that one would expect to see at a cocktail party, one skin tight and red and the other black and short.
Adelaide had turned three 2 days ago and Chris had arranged for all of her classmates at her preschool to come over to their house for a Sofia the First themed party. What he hadn't expected was for four of the moms to show up an hour early and proceed to flirt with him, or try to, instead of actually trying to help him set anything up. He'd lost count of the number of times his butt had been pinched or he'd been told how strong he was while they had petted his bicep.
Chris felt guilty for the way he'd told them to keep an eye on the kids while he'd fled to the laundry room right of the kitchen. The term 'chicken shit' came to mind as he leaned against his washing machine trying to figure out what to do. Taking his phone out of his pocket, he selected his family members and Wren and quickly typed a message:
SOS GET HERE NOW!
He hit send and then started to type again:
House invaded by the
He paused, for a moment, trying to figure out how to explain the situation he was facing. They were all moms, they'd come in a group and they all, apparently, wanted him and were offering themselves to him in front of each other and the kids.
House invaded by the horny mom brigade.
He hit send and his phone blew up a moment later with 'lol's, 'lmao's, and 'on our way'.
Then he got Wren's message:
Just parked. I'll be there in a few minutes.
Knowing he needed to get out there before the women decided to try and find his bedroom, Chris took a deep breath and unlocked the door. He opened it and startled when he saw one of the women leaning against the doorframe.
"There you are," she smiled, flipping her hair. "I wondered what you were up to." Her eyes flickered around the laundry room. "This room is a good -"
The sound of the doorbell cut her off and Chris breathed a sigh of relief as he ducked under her arm then all but ran to answer the door. After throwing it open, a large smiled spread across his face when he saw it was Wren. He all but pulled her inside and gave her a big hug.
"You have no idea how happy I am you are here," he muttered to her, holding her in his arms for a minute longer than needed, hoping the horny mom brigade would back off if they thought he and Wren were something.
"They can't be that bad," Wren laughed as she stepped out of his embrace. She smoothed her floral knee length skirt. "Where are the kids?"
Chris's face paled as he realized that the house was too quiet.
"We put a movie on for them," the mom in the black dress said from the entrance to the kitchen. She was holding a wine glass that was half full. "Who's this?"
"This is Wren," Chris told her. "She's my uh -"
Once again, Chris was saved by somebody arriving and he said a silent prayer of thanks when he saw it was his mom, siblings, niece and nephews.
"I'll go check on the kids," Wren offered with a smile. She slipped the strap of her crossbody purse over her head and then tucked it behind a chair so it was out of the way. She quickly said her hellos to Chris's family and then led his niece and nephews to the TV room where Addy and her school friends were watching a movie.
"Well, I assume there is still a lot to do before the other guests arrive," Chris's mom declared. "It will be all hands on deck to get this party ready." She headed into the kitchen, grabbing the wine glass out of black dress's hands as she went. "Thanks, dear. But alcohol at a three year old's birthday party might be a bit much."
Chris waited until everyone else had followed his mom into the kitchen before he did a little happy dance. He didn't feel an ounce of guilt for sticking his mother on the horny mom brigade; they deserved whatever she threw at them.
By the time Chris made it into the kitchen, his mom had everyone doing jobs: skinny jeans was helping Scott fill coolers with juice boxes; red dress was helping his older sister put together vegetable trays; black dress was helping his mom open the Sofia the First themed party plates and cups; and leather skirt was helping his younger sister fill the piñata that Addy had begged him to buy. With the four women occupied, Chris went out to the backyard to make sure both gates were closed and that the party games were ready to go.
It was another fifteen minutes, or so, until more of Addy's classmates arrived. Chris helped her answer the door while Wren, his niece and nephews wrangled the other three year olds. Most of the parents stayed for the party while others made their apologies and promised to be back within two hours time.
The next two hours were complete chaos, at least to Chris. Wren, who was used to dealing with twenty excited kids for eight hours a day, handled it like a pro. She seemed to have a sixth sense about when it was time to do a different activity and when the kids needed to rest for a little bit.
Meanwhile, the horny mom brigade had hidden themselves in the shade of the large tree in the backyard, trying to stay out of Chris's mom's eye line to avoid getting set with another task. It had humored Chris to great lengths that his mom had deemed the four women the perfect volunteers for helping little ones, whose parents had left, get to the bathroom.
Therefore, it was no surprise to anyone, when the horny mom brigade and their offspring were the first to leave the party. It was only after they'd left that the other parents, both moms and dads, started laughing and had informed Chris that the women tried this stunt whenever they knew there was a single dad in the picture. They'd all gotten a kick out of his nickname for them and had asked him to bring his mom with him to future birthday parties that the four women would be attending.
By the time the last party guests and their parents had left, Addy was stretched out on the couch in the TV room passed out from exhaustion and a sugar crash. Chris's family stuck around to help with the major clean up, but they eventually filled out, leaving the last bit of the cleaning to Chris and Wren.
"Thanks for your help today," Chris said as he dried the serving dish she had just washed. "I can honestly say we couldn't have done this without you."
"I love being around kids, you know that," Wren shrugged as she washed a bowl.
"Why don't you have any kids?" Chris asked her as he put the towel down to put the bowl away.
"Because I don't have a husband," Wren replied. "I'm an old fashioned girl, Chris."
"You'll be a great mom someday," Chris stated. His mind instantly went to Jessa and with a crack in his voice, he added, "and your kids will be lucky to have a mom like you."
Chris saw Wren's shoulders tense and then heard her shut off the water. He watched as she turned around and he knew that she'd caught the change in his voice. Turning away from her, he fussed with the dishes in the cupboard in order to get his emotions under control. He wasn't ready, wasn't sure he'd ever be ready, to talk about Jessa.
Only his family knew the real reason behind his and Jessa's divorce and he'd purposefully kept it that way. After all, the last thing he wanted was for the media to splash the fact that Jessa didn't want to be a mom all over the front pages and have his daughter find out one day from one of her classmates.
His mind flashed back to that November afternoon when he'd brought Addy home from a playdate. He'd put her down for a nap and then had gone into the bedroom he'd shared with Jessa, only to find her bags packed and her sitting at the end of the bed waiting for him.
At first, he'd thought she was going on a trip or being called away to fill in for another wardrobe assistant for Marvel, but then she'd handed him a manila envelope and had said the word 'divorce'. She had done some more talking, but all he had heard was 'blah blah I can't do this anymore blah blah blah I never wanted to be a mom blah blah blah.'
"Chris?" Wren's soft voice forced him back to the present. "What's wrong?"
Chris felt her hand on his shoulder and he took a deep breath as the anger he felt at Jessa for abandoning Addy threatened to return. He refused to let that anger affect Wren more than it already had and he refused to ruin an otherwise perfect day.
"I'm ok," he told her as he turned around. "Just had a not so pleasant memory."
"I'm here if you ever need to talk," she said, genuine concern showing on her face. "You know that, right?"
"I do know that," Chris nodded. He wrapped his arms around her and hugged her close.
Chris knew that Addy would suffer from not having her mom in her life, but he also knew that she would always have his mom, sisters and Wren in her corner. Those four strong women would show her more love than she'd know what do with. Knowing that made his heart hurt a little less for his daughter.
After ending their hug, Chris and Wren returned to their task of washing and drying dishes. It was as they were working that Chris mentioned that he'd recently gotten a job on a television drama that was going to start shooting in Boston in June.
"What are you doing this summer?" he asked. He had planned to have Addy in daycare with his mom and sisters taking up the slack when they could, but when Wren mentioned that she had the summer off, he had started to get an idea.
"I haven't made any plans yet, why?" she asked.
"Do you have any interest in taking care of Addy for me this summer?" he asked. "It will only be during the week and most of the time it will be normal hours, but I do know there will be some night shoots."
"Do you need an answer now?" Wren asked, hesitantly.
"No, I don't," he replied then quickly added, "But please don't feel pressured to say yes. My mom and sisters have already agreed to help. I just thought you and Addy would have fun together."
"I think we would, too," Wren nodded. "But I'll still need to think it over."
"I understand," Chris told her. "Take all the time you need."
They finished doing the dishes and then Wren said her goodbyes. Chris watched from the doorway as she whispered goodbye to Addy and then he followed her to the front door.
"Text me when you get home," he told her as he opened the front door.
"Will do," Wren nodded.
Chris watched as she made her way down the path to the sidewalk. She gave a slight wave as she reached the end and then she started walking to her car, disappearing from his view.
Closing the door, Chris took a deep breath as he leaned against the door. He barely had a minute to himself before he heard Addy call for him. Shaking his head, he pushed off the door and made his way into the TV room where the best part of his life waited for his attention.
