Mooney’s Other Wife
S6;E18 ~ January 22, 1968
Synopsis
After Mr. Mooney returns from a convention, he is pursued by a flirtatious woman who is in love with him. To scare her off, Lucy pretends to be Mr. Mooney's wife and paints a very dire picture of him as a husband.
Regular Cast
Lucille Ball (Lucy Carmichael), Gale Gordon (Theodore J. Mooney), Roy Roberts (Harrison Winfield Cheever)
Mary Jane Croft (Mary Jane Lewis) does not appear in this episode.
Guest Cast
Edie Adams (Nanette Johnson) was born Edith Elizabeth Enke in Pennsylvania, although her family settled in Tenafly, New Jersey. She earned a vocal degree from Juilliard, then graduated from the Columbia School of Drama. She made her television debut with her future husband on 1951’s “Ernie in Kovacsland.” They were married in 1954. Adams Won Broadway’s 1957 Tony Award as Best Supporting Actress in a Musical as Daisy Mae in Li'l Abner. That same year she played the Fairy Godmother in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s TV musical “Cinderella” starring Julie Andrews. In April 1960 Adams appeared with Kovacs on “Lucy Meets the Mustache,” the final installment of “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour” and the very last time we see the Ricardos and the Mertzes. Appropriately, Adams sang the song “That's All” on the show. She died at the age of cancer at the age of 81.
Nanette is a member of the Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce.
Bennett Green (Man with Telegram, uncredited) was Desi Arnaz’s stand-in during “I Love Lucy.” He does frequent background work on “The Lucy Show.”
The date this episode first aired (January 22, 1968) NBC premiered “Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In.” Dick Martin played Lucy's boyfriend Harry Conners during seasons 1 and 2 of “The Lucy Show.” Dan Rowan was in two season 5 episodes as different characters. The second half hour of the show ran at the same time as “The Lucy Show” so the two programs were vying for the same viewers. The show ran for six seasons.
Mr. Mooney and Mr. Cheever went to a convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It was a well known TV trope that conventions were excuses for grown men to indulge in all sorts of juvenile shenanigans and – sometimes – extra marital flirtations.
The name ‘Nanette’ was doubtless chosen in honor of the Broadway musical No, No Nanette, first produced in 1925 and filmed in 1930 and 1940. It was revived on Broadway in 1971. The second and third acts of the musical take place in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the convention site that Mr. Mooney and Mr. Cheever have just returned from at the start of the episode. Curiously, the writers miss a golden opportunity to use the line “no, no, Nanette.”
Edie Adams uses a high-pitched voice with a slight New York accent much like the character of Adelaide in the musical Guys and Dolls. In 1964, Adams sang Adelaide's song “Bushel and a Peck” from Guys and Dolls on a compilation LP.
Mr. Mooney says that Atlantic City has a world famous museum – but it was closed - so they went to a discotheque and a pizza parlor. Nanette and Mr. Mooney shared a kiss in the cab.
As usual when scenes take place at the Mooney home, Mrs. Mooney is out of town. The character has not and will never be seen on camera.
Callbacks!
In “Mertz and Kurtz” (ILL S4;E2) Fred's old vaudeville partner Barney joins the Ricardos and the Mertzs in a Gay 90s revue at the Tropicana that is set in Atlantic City. They refer to the Dairymen's Convention.
Lucille Ball acted like a dog in several episodes of “I Love Lucy” with the Ricardo family pet Fred.
Lucy Ricardo also made herself into a frumpy housewife to discourage the amorous advances of Mr. Ritter in “Lucy Plays Cupid” (ILL S1;E15). She tells Mr. Ritter she has 31 children, making Lucy Carmichael's claim of having just 12 seem pretty tame.
Blooper Alerts!
Name Game! In “Little Old Lucy” (S6;E7) we learned that Mr. Cheever's first name is Harrison. In “Lucy and the Starmaker” (S6;E4) Mr. Cheever says his middle name is Winfield. Here, Mr. Mooney calls him Winfield. Either the writers have forgotten about “Little Old Lucy” or Mr. Cheever prefers to be referred to by his middle name.
Family Tree! In order to scare her off, Lucy (as Mrs. Mooney) tells Nanette that Mr. Mooney has twelve children. The Mooneys actually have four children: Arnold, Ted Jr., Bob, and a daughter in Trenton, New Jersey. He is also a grandfather. Mr. Mooney did not mention them to Nanette. It is possible that, like Lucy's two children, the writers would prefer to ignore them.
Remember Me? During their man and wife role play, Mr. Mooney and Lucy mention his dog Duke. In previous episodes the Mooney's dog was named Nelson (above). At the end of the episode, Mr. Mooney says “We don't have a dog.” Nelson's last appearance was in “Lucy Discovers Wayne Newton” (S4;E14) after the move to California. What happened to Nelson?
Door is Ajar! Lucy (as Mrs. Mooney) fails to close the front door completely after Mr. Mooney comes home. It is ajar for the remainder of the scene.
Butter Fingers! Just as Nanette is about to grab the rolled up newspaper from Mr. Mooney, Gale Gordon drops it. He manages to quickly scoop it up and the scene continues.
“Mooney’s Other Wife” rates 3 Paper Hearts out of 5

The Daily Tulip – News From Around The World
Sunday 26th November 2017
Good Morning Gentle Reader…. I Hope you are in the rudest of health, Me, I’m fighting, because at the moment the wind is trying to beat down the door, but out into the darkness the intrepid pair venture, scarf tied firmly round the next jacket zipped up and hanging onto Bella as the wind shakes the trees and bushes.. Bella seems to think this is fun as she attempts to grab errant leaves as they get blown hither and yon… What it must like out at sea I can only imagine…..
'MR POLICE' LANDS INDONESIA POLICE JOB…. An Indonesian construction worker has landed a job in a police station, all because of his name. The man, called Polisi - which is Indonesian for "Police" - was fined by traffic cops for riding a motorcycle without a licence in Pasuruan, East Java, Tribunnews website reported. But after a photo of his identity card went viral on social media, local officers "adopted" him as their celebrity mascot, eventually buying him a driving licence and offering him an office job in their station house, Merdeka.com said. Polisi, who like many Indonesians goes by a single name, said that he didn't expect it to bring him good luck. He joins the likes of God, Satan, and Go To School as Indonesians with noteworthy names.
TAJIK LEADER TOLD 'YOU ARE WORTHY' AS CULT TAKES OFF…. Emomali Rahmon marks 25 years as leader of Tajikistan this month, and the state media are using song, verse and even book-readings to boost his cult of personality. You Are Worthy, a song performed by a quartet to words ostensibly written by Interior Minister and budding poet Ramazon Rahimzoda, was posted to YouTube and shared widely on pro-Rahmon sites, the Asia-Plus news agency reports. The quartet also performed at an anniversary concert attended by the president himself, and their song Leader of the Nation - one component of Mr Rahmon's elaborate official title - won them a standing ovation. Their latest efforts lauds the president as the "king of kings of our times", attributing the end of the 1992-1997 civil war and current "peace and tranquillity" to Mr Rahmon. Social media reflects a sharp divide between supporters of the president and those Tajiks who lament the decline of their political culture into "leader worship", as the writer Hafiz Boboyorov put it. "Our intellectual and clerical leaders are creating a new religion in the minds of people who are no longer capable of analysing anything," the Germany-based scholar wrote on Facebook. Other commentators told Asia-Plus the performers had little choice but to sing the president's praises "if they want to get any gigs".
EEL-AIRPLANE HYBRID NAMED JAPAN'S BEST MASCOT…. A half-airplane, half-eel creation has been named Japan's favourite mascot following a vote in which hundreds of thousands of people took part. The city of Narita's Unari-kun polled a staggering 805,328 votes in the annual Yuru Chara Grand Prix to choose the country's top regional mascot, the Mainichi Daily News reports, 40,000 votes ahead of its nearest rival. Unari-kun represents two things for which the city of Narita is famous - its airport, which serves as Tokyo's main international terminal, and unagi freshwater eels, a common ingredient in Japanese cuisine. The honour proved too much for Narita's deputy mayor Kenji Sekine, who was present at the event. "I'm close to tears," he said as he thanked the voting public. In second place at the Grand Prix - a two-day event in the central city of Kuwana, attended by over 23,000 people - was the rabbit-eared Chiryuppi of Chiryu, followed by Try-kun, a rugby player from Higashi-Osaka, a hotbed of Japanese rugby union. Risonya the cat won the best corporate mascot trophy, emerging victorious in its category from the 1,158 company and regional characters that entered this year's competition, Asahi Shimbun newspaper said.
NZ MINISTER ORDERS PROBE INTO 'IMPOSSIBLE' MATHS EXAM…. New Zealand's education minister has ordered an investigation into an examination paper which reportedly reduced students to tears. The National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) level 1 maths exam was held on Monday, and is the standard secondary school qualification in New Zealand. However, pupils left the exam complaining that the three papers they had sat were "impossible" and contained concepts that they had not been taught, the New Zealand Herald reports. The paper reported one student as saying the paper was "incomprehensible in parts", and that "in some cases calculations were impossible given the lack of information. In others, there were questions not covered in the syllabus". One question which came under particular scrutiny appears to involve quadratic equations, which are not covered until Level 2 in New Zealand; while two others were described as "effectively identical", meaning students would be penalised twice if they didn't know the answer. How's your maths? One question from the contentious exam paper, to which we don't know the answer So far, 22 maths teachers have signed an open letter of complaint to the Ministry of Education and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), which set the exam. The letter's author, teacher Jake Wills, told the NZ Herald "For a national exam you would expect better... We want good exams." It's not the first time this has happened, and Education Minister Chris Hipkins is demanding a full report on the affair. Last year's NCEA Level 1 maths was also criticised for being too tough, while a level 3 exam contained an error which made one question impossible to answer, Radio New Zealand reports.
AUSTRALIAN SCHOOL APOLOGISES FOR 'SUGGESTIVE' SAINT STATUE…. An Australian school has covered a statue from view because of its "potentially suggestive" depiction of a saint handing a loaf of bread to a boy. The Catholic school in Adelaide apologised on Wednesday for the statue, which was completed recently. The sculpture, portraying St Martin de Porres, was widely criticised after images of it were posted online. The unfortunate position of the loaf of bread held by the saint led to some misreading the scene. Blackfriars Priory School said it had commissioned a new sculptor to "substantially alter" the design. In a message posted on Facebook, principal Simon Cobiac apologised to the school community for "any concerns and publicity" caused by the statue. He said the school had approved its design and commissioned a sculptor in Vietnam, but "upon arrival the three-dimensional statue was deemed by the [school] to be potentially suggestive". The Adelaide Advertiser newspaper said the statue had been installed last week and later covered with a black cloth. It drew public attention after an image of the statue was posted on a popular Adelaide Instagram account, where it attracted hundreds of comments. "Who designed that...surely someone has to say 'mmm big mistake'," wrote one commenter, in a sentiment echoed by many. Mr Cobiac said the design had been intended as a "depiction of the tireless work of St Martin de Porres, a Dominican brother, for the poor and downtrodden of the 16th Century".
Well Gentle Reader I hope you enjoyed our look at the news from around the world this, Sunday morning… …
Our Tulips today look like Candy Cane…..
A Sincere Thank You for your company and Thank You for your likes and comments I love them and always try to reply, so please keep them coming, it's always good fun, As is my custom, I will go and get myself another mug of "Colombian" Coffee and wish you a safe Sunday 26th November 2017 from my home on the southern coast of Spain, where the blue waters of the Alboran Sea washes the coast of Africa and Europe and the smell of the night blooming Jasmine and Honeysuckle fills the air…and a crazy old guy and his dog Bella go out for a walk at 4:00 am…on the streets of Estepona…
All good stuff....But remember it’s a dangerous world we live in
Be safe out there…

Eco House Western Australia
Eco House Western Australia
Homes
Anna Flanders
Inside the WA home of Tanya McKenna, Peter Chadwick and Henri the boxer. The forest green bottle grinders by Menu were gifted to Tanya by her best friends; the vintage amber wine glasses were found at the local tip; the original 1970’s teapot was gifted to Tanya by Peter in Copenhagen; and the handmade hanging plywood light was by Peter. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
The height of the interior coupled with the soaring window ‘mosaic’ give the home it’s airy, relaxed feel. The forest-green door was purchased privately by Tanya and Peter from a demolition sale (and is said to be from a mansion once owned by Alan Bond). They painted it Forest Green to match their living room wall. The woven baskets were gifted to Tanya by Carla; the white metal coat hanger was sourced from France on Ebay; the staghorn plant was gifted to Tanya by her parents and reinforced to eco-ply sheeting by Peter. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
‘This is our urban retreat away from the hustle and bustle of life, but still close to everything we love and need. We’re always on the go with busy lives, but we’re always relaxed at home. We love to cook, put on a record and just relax, or host long-table dinners in the courtyard. It’s nice having a smaller space that doesn’t require as much maintenance, too,’ says Tanya. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
The kitchen is made from custom pre-finished plywood cabinetry designed by Carla at Etica Studio and made locally by Raw Edge Furniture. Tanya and Peter sourced the Oregon benchtops from a salvage yard. Fridge and appliances are by Smeg and Miele. The oregon staircase and custom metalwork balustrade are by Customised Metal Works , while the light was designed and handmade by Tanya and Peter. Original Danish wall sconces and rattan stools were sourced privately by Tanya, and white tapware is by Astra Walker. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
Carla designed the pantry and Raw Edge Furniture crafted it. Tanya and Peter had it painted Forest Green to bookend each side of the open-plan living area. The Smeg fridge is a smart inclusion in this area, topped with greenery from Tanya’s nan and overlooked by original 60s Danish sconce lights purchased privately off Ebay and rewired by Peter (an electrician by trade). Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
Tanya and Peter sourced the amber glass and vintage windows to create this soaring mosaic of windows. It beautifully works with the recycled rammed concrete (made using crushed concrete rubble from building sites and demolitions) to give a soulful, yet contemporary, backdrop. On the table is a retro vase was gifted to Tanya by her best friend. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
This area is one of the most beautiful areas in the home, where light floods into the space and hits the clean surfaces to add a wonderful warmth. Tanya and Peter bought the original 1960s table from Roofpocket; the pendant light was made by Kira and Kira; and the chairs were sourced privately by Tanya and Peter. Henri also gets to eat in this area, where you can see his dog bowl by Mog & Bone. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
The Forest Green walls and white resin flooring bring out the aged, but beautiful, warm timbers in the furniture. ‘It’s a very calming space with lots of warmth. It has soul. The pop of greenery in every room contributes to the soothing atmosphere,’ says Tanya. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
Original 1960s bricks were sourced from a demolition site, then painted white. A concrete plinth has been incorporated into the wall to soften the architecture with displays. The print of Monstera delisiosa is by (By) Garmi from Norsu Interiors and the real interior greenery is by Tanya. The wood fire is by Nectre from Subiaco Restoration. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
The main living area is filled with natural materials and a wonderful collection of pieces that have been sourced, handed down and found… the natural jute rug is from IKEA , the original mid-century Danish armchairs from INTOO Collectibles , the 1960s nesting tables were made by Tanya’s late-grandfather and gifted to the couple by their Nana, and the wire chair, vintage speakers and Danish sideboard were all sourced privately. The original Danish retro leather sofa was bought from the now-closed Revival Hill store in Perth. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
Natural light and cross ventilation were designed into the southern side of the home through a custom-made timber hopper window. Peter built the pine shelf above that provides a subtle break into the white-painted brick wall. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
The kitchen benchtop was made from locally sourced recycled oregon, which was originally from a pub in Northam, WA. It was carefully repurposed by Raw Edge Furniture into a benchtop. The stairway and grid mesh balustrade was designed by Carla and made by local tradesmen. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
The study space sits above the kitchen and dining areas on the home’s mezzanine and is filled with natural light through the home’s two-storey window ‘mosaic’. It’s screened with 1960’s breezeblocks and is incorporated into a long stretch of cabinetry, which was made by local makers Raw Edge Furniture. The lamp is from Angove Street Collective and the vintage rattan stool was purchased privately. On the floor are salvaged Baltic pine floorboards from the original Melbourne Town Hall. Tanya and Peter found them on Gumtree and carefully restored them with local woodworkers. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
Peter handmade the plywood bed to perfectly fit the bedroom space. The vintage amber lights were sourced privately by Tanya and Carla and fitted by Peter. Timber windows were custom made by Furntech Joinery and the bed features the couple’s preferred organic cotton linen bedding from IN BED Store. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
There are two guest rooms in the home and each have the same retro vibe. This one features an original 1970’s double bed sourced privately off Gumtree by Tanya and Peter. They prefer to use organic cotton linen bedding by IN BED Store and have mixed it on this bed with velvet olive green pillow cases by Kip & Co from Remedy in Leederville. The poster is from a bar in Copenhagen and the travel books are a collection of Tanya and Peters. The woven baskets were gifted to Tanya by Carla. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
This is one of Tanya and Peter’s favourite views in the home – looking out through a window to a section of their green roof featuring philodendrons and mother-in-laws tongue. ‘Having greenery permanently in our bedroom is beautiful and calming — it’s a huge credit to Carla,’ says Tanya. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
The bathroom is a lesson in simplicity… Cabinetry is by Raw Edge Furniture and tapware by Astra Walker. The mirror cabinetry was fitted by Peter. The couple prefer to use locally made vegan body products by Clean Slate . Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
This was a lucky find! Tanya managed to source a 1970s forest-green bathtub with matching basin from Adelaide for the ensuite. The tapware is Astra Walker and greenery by Tanya. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
The northfacing courtyard utilises 1960s breezeblocks and white-painted recycled bricks. The table was made by Peter out of recycled oregon timber to match the interior benchtops and the vintage chairs were purchased secondhand from a salvage yard and repurposed with plywood seats by Peter. The outdoor lighting was also purchased second-hand. The permeable paving and courtyard design are by Tanya and Peter. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
The rear-lane access features a Forest Green roller door in keeping with the theme of the home. You can just spy the green roof, which was installed on two levels of the roof by Deep Green Landscaping with cladding by Scyon , timber window frames by Furntech Joinery. The permeable paving was sourced and installed by Peter and Tanya and the concrete planter made by Peter from left-over concrete in a previous renovation. Greenery by Tanya. Photography – Dion Robeson, styling – Anna Flanders.
Tanya McKenna and Peter Chadwick are self-confessed ‘passionate renovators’. She’s a sustainability consultant, and he’s a trades manager for a Perth renovation company. Together they are a savvy sustainable-design force… especially teamed with Tanya’s equally as eco-focused architect sister Carla Karsakis of Etica Studio.
It was 2014 when Tanya found the 200sqm urban infill block their home sits on today. At the time, she and Peter were half-way through a two-year renovation of a 1920s cottage, and had just returned from a two-month holiday in Uruguay and Brazil. It was also at this time that Carla launched her architectural studio, so the timing seemed right for a new project.
‘We worked really closely with Carla to maximize the small space into a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home with a huge open-plan living space, dream kitchen and leafy courtyard,’ explains Tanya. ‘We are really close as sisters and we worked well together, bouncing ideas off one another.’
The result is a two storey (or one level with mezzanine) home the couple refer to as ‘The Nature-Inspired Eco House’. They live here with their nine-month-old boxer Henri, a family of indoor plants and the occasional Airbnb guest. This home, however, is as much a place to live, as is it a physical manifestation of the couple’s life philosophy.
‘How we live is not only important for us as human beings, but also for the world,’ says Tanya. ‘If we design living spaces with a lesser environmental footprint – with the earth and our comfort in mind – we’re not only creating beautiful healthy spaces, but we’re doing our bit for the climate. For us, our home demonstrates what is possible.’
Concrete (crushed and repurposed rubble), brick (1960s breeze blocks and reclaimed bricks), timber (revamped Baltic floorboards from the original Melbourne Town Hall fit-out and 1960s windows, doors and skirting boards) and low-VOC paints in Forest Green and white on the walls, with a white resin on the floors, set the palette of the home.
One element that is not seen, but incredibly important is a green roof by Deep Green Landscaping. Solar panels, a solar hot-water system (both by Infinite Energy) and greenery are packed above the house, which is fitting given Tanya is an advocate for the 202020 Vision – a national campaign to increase urban green space by 20 per cent by 2020.
‘As the global population grows and more people live in urban areas, there will be a greater need for the green roof as a heat sink in a warming climate, pollution reduction method, purifier of air and filter system for stormwater runoff, and a space for flora and fauna to increase urban biodiversity,” Tanya explains. The roof is accessed via a Danish-designed Velux skylight thanks to her parents’ company and she hopes it stands as an example of how residential homes can incorporate such a feature.
When it came to the home’s look and feel, the couple wanted to mix the brutalist aesthetic they had seen on holiday in South America, with the ‘hyggelig’ interiors they had experienced on a six-month visit to Denmark in 2011.
With the reclaimed materials and architectural design taking care of the Brutalist aspect, it was the ‘hygge’ they had to bring in, through furniture and accessories. Pieces throughout the home are a mix of custom designs; family objects, such as the nest of coffee tables made by Tanya’s grandfather and gifted to them by her nan; buys from mid-century stores in Perth; Gumtree finds; and other pieces the couple have sourced over time.
The soaring windows, which are a mosaic of reclaimed 60s clear and amber panes, and an oversized set of French doors, flood the largely white space with natural northern light, creating more of that warmth they were after. The light flows into the bottom and top floors, heating them up in winter and providing views over the neighboring roofs and treetops.
The couple say the home is relaxing in the morning, bright and airy through the day and calming in the evenings. They point to the natural light, fresh air and living greenery throughout the home as the element behind that. Of course, it’s also to do with the soulful materials palette, collections of furniture and objects and the passion and consideration that have gone into the design and build of this project.
‘Our home represents everything about us. There’s something to be said about living in a space that you worked so hard to create – every single thing was thought out. Together with the inner-city location and beautiful outlook, we couldn’t really ask for anything more,’ says Tanya.

VERY SERIOUS PREDICTIONS FOR THE YEAR IN SPORT
2017, another year, so much to look forward to, so much to predict, and predict accurately, because how possibly can we get anything wrong, I mean its not like anyone got anything wrong last year?
We predicted Brexit.. no wait, we didn’t, true, but we did get the US Election right... nope, got that really wrong. So perhaps 2017 is the year we get things right again, starting with my top ten fearless predictions for the world of sport.
1. Australia wins back the Ashes
So four of the five tests take place before the calendar year ends and we’ll have the Urn back in our keep before the 5th Test in Sydney. The Poms are extremely beatable away from home and much like Mitchell Johnson tore them to shreds last time around with pace and bounce and fear, we’ll have Mitchell Starc this time doing the same thing - but it gets better, we’ll have Pat Cummins from the other end whose even quicker.
2. But the Aussies will get done big time in India
So next month the Test team travels to India on a wave of momentum from four successive test victories - to a country where we’ll hardly be able to get their batsmen out at all. Their wickets will turn sideways from the first session and we won’t have the team to capitalise - our batsmen will do ok but we will bowl atrociously. Nathan Lyon won’t bowl anything “nice” all tour and Stephen O’Keefe has sliding doors installed throughout his house because door knobs are too much, he can’t turn anything.
3. GWS give the AFL a stiffy by winning the flag
Oh the joy to be had when the AFL gets what they want the most (they probably overdid it with Hird but that’s for another day) when the Giants go to the big dance and salute in 2017. Not only will they have enough experienced leaders in their team to successfully navigate the month of September, those talented teenagers who were on the wrong end of thrashings only a couple years ago, they’re now all approaching stardom in their own right into their mid 20s . The dynasty begins - how many they win is up for debate but they’ll take stopping put it that way.
4. Little Gaz is back in Geelong
No matter the year Gary Ablett Jnr has nor how good or bad a season the Gold Coast has, Ablett will end up back in blue and white hoops for one last hurrah (major injury aside). It surprisingly didn’t get done last trade period but another 12 months on, the lure home won’t have disappeared and given he’ll be 33 with one year left arguably in 2018, the prodigal son will come home to try and pinch one more flag whilst Patrick Dangerfield and Joel Selwood are keeping the Cats’ premiership window open.
5. But Dusty will have moved on
Not sure where exactly but Dustin Martin will play his final season at Richmond this year. There is serious money for him wherever he looks, the Tigers will regress or at best stagnate this year and he will find the most attractive offer too tempting. He is only 25 with seven or eight good years still in him which makes him the most sought after ‘proper’ free agent since its inception a few years back (Buddy Franklin was always going to Sydney, be it the Giants or Swans and for Dangerfield it was stay with Adelaide or head home to Geelong).
6. The A-League will make a huge mistake
The Western Sydney Wanderers are one of the great franchises in Australian sport already and they’ve been around for five minutes. But they are a once in a lifetime bit of business. The clowns at the FFA are hellbent on expanding their league by at least two more clubs, a league that has the sugar daddy to end all sugar daddies in the City Group controlling Melbourne City who can barely get over 10,000 to a game, the Newcastle Jets and Central Coast Mariners who get two blokes and their dogs to their home games (Labradors too, beautiful dogs) and Wellington Phoenix who play in a round, cricket venue to attendances the size of Donald Trump’s hands. So let’s have two more of those success stories please, yeah sure...
7. Ricciardo validates the accolades by winning F1 World Championship
Problem: Daniel Ricciardo is seen by those in the know to be the best driver on the F1 grid, or at worst on par with Lewis Hamilton, the reigning world champion, yet he is in a far slower car than the short-arse Englishman.
Solution: Red Bull, unlike recent years, have got a car that can finally go with the Mercedes in 2017 and the plucky Aussie who never stops smiling will have good reason too as he edges Hamilton and his teammate Max Verstappen to his maiden F1 crown.
8. Kyrgios makes a fool of many and wins a Major.
Nick Kyrgios, yes that petulant bastard who plays tennis, yes him. He is mighty talented yet hasn’t cared one iota about tennis, or moreover being the best tennis player he can, at any stage since becoming a professional. This year is different - now he does care. And when not caring gets you to the top 20 in the world with a whimper, the improvement he will find by busting a gut to achieve greatness will do exactly that as the Canberra native takes home Wimbledon or the US Open, possibly the latter.
9. Queensland whitewash the State of Origin.
Quite easy really, the Maroons have two games at Suncorp for the first time since 2014, they won last year and they still have amazing players like Cameron Smith, Greg Inglis, Jonathan Thurston, Cooper Cronk. But crucially they regain Billy Slater from injury and Valentine Holmes and Dylan Napa from suspension and with talented youngsters like Anthony Milford, Ben Hunt and Cameron Munster too demanding a spot, its a fair dinkum Jet factory north of Tweed.
10. Winx wins third Cox Plate in a row
Sure, its hardly surprising that Winx can front up and win the 2017 Cox Plate given the ease she won in 2015 but then dominating even more so in 2016. But its a tough ask to win three on the trot. Sunline only won twice, same with Lonhro and So You Think, and other than Kingston Town it hasn’t been done since the 50s. But Winx is that good, there’s no horse out there or on the rise that will stop her, she will make history.

Dog Door Installation for Aluminium Glass Doors 101:
Measuring the Glass
Precision is paramount when it comes to measuring glass. This step is critical because once the hole is cut, there’s no going back. Toughened glass cannot be altered or cut once it’s set.
When measuring, we focus on the following specifics:
Glass thickness and type.
Dog door flap size.
Clearance between the dog door and adjacent doors or screens.
Height of the dog door flap for your pet’s convenience.
Ordering and Installation:
Once measurements are finalized, we proceed with ordering the glass, typically taking 4-5 days. Scheduling installation involves coordinating availability between us and you.
For Glass Sliding Doors:
We typically use 5mm clear toughened glass, maintaining continuity with most glass sliding doors. This choice avoids weight issues for door rollers and preserves the original gasket.
For glass sliding door side panels the process is much the same, we reinstall glass of the same thickness.
For Glass Hinged Doors:
These doors often have beaded top and bottom, with gaskets on both sides. The process involves careful adjustment of the glass and application of rubber or silicon to secure it.
For Trend Window glass doors, the process is more intricate, requiring removal of the door from its hinge and dismantling to install the new dog door glass.
And that covers the essentials of Dog Door Installation into aluminium glass doors. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
