8 ☾ Sweets / Ranpo Edogawa !!
DAY 8 OF FLUFFTOBER!
Summary!
- It's Ranpo's favorite season. But only because you come in with new candies every day
flufftober masterlist!
Ranpo sat at his desk lazily. His legs were propped on his finished papers (something Kunkida had trouble resisting the urge to scold) and his hands were behind his head. To a stranger looking in, he looked content. But, to his coworkers, they knew he was a ticking tantrum waiting to happen. All because a certain detective had yet to arrive to work.
"Where is she?" He complained loudly. He huffed and crossed his arms.
"We don't know, she won't answer our calls," Kunikida calmly replied from his desk.
Of course, with his deduction abilities, Ranpo already knew where you were. As usual with the fall season, you were late to work because you were busy trying to find new candies for the greatest detective to enjoy. But, seeing as he eats anything and everything, the hunt was proving more and more difficult every day. His question was rhetorical, he just wanted to voice his discontent.
"Sorry I'm late!" You said apologetically with a bow directed at the president, who had come out to talk to Kunikida. Fukuzawa just waved his hand and nodded, excusing your tardiness. With a sigh of relief, you walked to your best friend's desk. "I woke up 2 hours earlier to catch a train to Kawasaki because I've given you everything from around here," you sighed deeply and set the candy bag on Ranpo's desk.
Immediately, Ranpo reaches into the bag and starts to eat. "Thanks, Y/N!" Candy after candy you were slightly concerned for his teeth's health. Noticing your staring, Ranpo rolls his eyes, "You should've got some for yourself!" He stuck his tongue out teasingly and continued to shove sweets down his throat.
"I'm more concerned about cavities and you choking," You chided. "No one is taking them from you, you can chill."
Ranpo paused before a sly and teasing smirk grew on his face. He opened his emerald green eyes and rested his head on one of his hands. "Aw, you care about me!~"
Immediately you blushed red, "What?! No! It's- Well- It'd be unfortunate if you died! What would we do without the greatest detective!" You waved your hands in front of your face in hopes of dispelling the accusation.
Ranpo's attitude shifted immediately at the praise. He puffed his chest out in pride, "Yeah! I am the greatest, aren't I?"
You smiled cheesily, "Yeah, you sure are, Ranpo."
Ranpo closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair. '3 months since she started liking me... Wonder when she'll confess?' The thought made his grin widen. "Thanks for the treats, Y/n."
Startled, you nodded, "Yeah, of course! It's a tradition... even if I have to travel so far." Ranpo nodded and nothing else was said after. You made your way to your assigned desk and Ranpo started eating again. But one thing rested heavily on your minds;
'JUST CONFESS ALREADY!'

911 lone star tag game
thank you @tellmegoodbye for creating this tag and for tagging me 💜 sorry it took me so long to get to it. thanks also to @lemonlyman-dotcom @rmd-writes @liminalmemories21 @freneticfloetry
@chicgeekgirl89 @thisbuildinghasfeelings for the tags and @howtosingit and @captain-gillian mentioning my name, unfortunately for you i have taken that as a tag.
When did you first start watching Lone Star? Who or what introduced you to the show?
someone (it may have been @three-drink-amy) was yelling about the proposal in a group chat somewhere and i was stuck at home, injured, completely unable to walk, miserable and hating life...so I opened a YouTube video to see what the fuss was about. and then i watched all 3 seasons over the next 2 days.
Which season is your favorite?
three
Who is your favorite character? (Bonus: If you answered TK or Carlos, who is your favorite besides them?)
if you'd asked me a year ago, i might have had a different answer, but now (after over a year of almost exclusively writing carlos), i think it has to be him. i just think that i understand carlos a lot better than i used to. aside from tarlos...it's a hard toss up between grace and paul.
Top five episodes. Go!
you don't write 9 fics about push unless you really love push, so it's 3 x 04 every day for me. i'm actually sick for the pilot (1 x 01). i love a good origin story. my three others would be 3 x 13, 3 x 07 and a fight to the death between 3 x 18 for the proposal and 4 x 16 for soulmates.
If you could pick any character to be given a "begins" episode, who would it be and what would that episode look like?
i think the logical choice is nancy, because we really don't know a lot about her. the more she is on the screen the more i am starting to really enjoy her as a character and i'd like to know more. i'm also obsessed with getting as much reyes family backstory as i can. i'm CONVINCED tia lucy has to turn up somewhere. i need to meet that queen.
What is a scenario or storyline that you would like to see in season 5?
total cop out answer for me - i have no hopes because every time i start clowning i get the fear i might curse it. i'm just here for the ride, kids.
What do you think is going on in this still?
see answer above - i think the obvious answer is something about gabriel's death/the murder investigation but i'm not counting my chickens before they hatch or whatever the saying is. (also, they could def be trolling us and it's some scene in which tk is hangry and carlos is calling up the pizza place around the corner to ask where their order is because it's been 50 minutes and how long does a pizza really take?)
We all know about the elusive 5x05 spicy scene that has been teased, so what is your prediction for how it could possibly top 1x02?
it's no secret that i prefer sexy scenes when there's more at stake - a frantic hook up is hot but i prefer anything with feelings upon feelings upon feelings. so i hope whatever it is, it's emotional.
Where was the Tarlos honeymoon in your mind?
i wrote a whole fic about it, so it's hard to go against my own narrative. but i assume somewhere in texas. it definitely wasn't the under the tuscan sun remake carlos had apparently been dreaming about (but i hope they get there one day).
Shoutout one of your favorite fan creations.
there's actually too many to mention, and somehow even though i've only been in this fandom for coming up two years, i feel like i'm a relic 😂 i have so many personal favourites that have come across my dash (a lot of them due to fic/fandom rec friday which i miss with all my heart). but i do want to say that if you create for this fandom in any capacity, whether that is art, fic, gifs, vids, metas etc., your creations are such a gift. every single one adds something that the fandom didn't have before and makes us as a collective all the richer 💜 also, i think it's important to acknowledge the importance of the members of the fandom who are readers or beta readers, or even casual observers. everyone i've come across on this site or in the ao3 comments or discord has such unique experiences and personalities and adds so much flavour to this fandom! so thank you for being here! and thanks to @tellmegoodbye again for giving me an excuse to just ramble on about that.
an open tag because i'm very late, but if you haven't participated, please consider this a tag for you 💜

Okay, I need to get this down before the monkie kid season 3 ending/special hits and proves me wrong Okay, so. I've had this theory/idea for how LBD gets defeated since I first watched the show last october. And after watching season 3, and reading the summaries for the specials, I think it could still work Anyway, the idea is It's the final battle. Their plans didnt work. Monkey King has been captured and controlled, and not even the Samadhi fire worked against any of them. Everyone is hurt and barely hanging on. MK, sees his friends in distress and decides to do something absolutely crazy that he has no idea if it'll even work. He gives himself up to LBD. Now whether he gets thrown in "the soup" or he gets turned to stone like he almost did back at the end of season 2. His power (and his soul) get absorbed by LBD. BUT. We get to see this like. Mind-scape place. Idk exactly how itd look, but theres basically a lot of energy/ wispy souls/power of the spider gang and monkey king and MK's own power swirling around like a hurricane. And at the center, confined by ghostly chains, is a little girl. LBD's host. And Mk talks to her. She's obviously scared and frustrated because she cant do anything while the bone spirit is controlling her. Mk tries to comfort her. May or may not succeed very well at it. He tells her that SHE is probably the only one who CAN stop LBD. "Its your body! Your mind! Take control!" "I can't!! I have no powers! Look at me! I'm literally chained here. I cant do this on my own." "You're not alone. I'm here, and I'm going to help you." "But, I can't do this. I'm not... strong or brave enough." "As someone very important to me once said, You just have to believe in yourself. Even a smidge makes all the difference" :) And Mk would literally give her some of his power directly to the host. And we'd literally see them PULL their own powers back to them and break the icy chains, and we'd see the Host literally fight back against the bone spirits. Slowly gaining control. On the outside we'd see MK's friends all freaking out about MK being over taken. And barely keeping themselves out of LBD'S grasp. She's probably monologuing or about to finish them off when, she winces or the attack isnt as powerful as she thought. Monkie crew is all ??? As she suddenly seems to be fighting with herself, eyes going back and forth between glowing blue or not (or glowing orange/gold from MK's powers). And eventually she collapses. And when she gets back up again... "Did I do it? I think I did it. I DID IT!!!" The host takes back control. The bone spirit is still there, but now the host is in control. No switching to another host this time. And then slowly we'd see everyone returning to normal that was taken by LBD (the spiders, monkey king, ?the mayor?? , and eventually mk) Mk obviously gets squashed in a hug by everyone for being so reckless. Anyway yeah that's the gist of it. I just really like the idea of "misdirection" of mk surrendering and making LBD think she'd won, when really he was bringing her downfall from the inside out. Also really like the idea of Mk repeating the line about believing in yourself to the host. :) And, I don't know how they truly plan to get rid of the bone spirit, so I think the host having control of it, would be neat

hi! do you have any post-season 4 angst fanfics? love your work <3
Thank you!! Haha I love this genre 💖💖💖 They’re not all necessarily set AFTER the season (since we don’t really know what’s going to happen in the finale), but these all deal with the season 4 fall out. I think I’ve recced most of these before (I've previously recced angst hidden gems, sadrien and sadinette), but it’s nice to get them all assembled in the same place.
Also, if anyone has any to add, I’d love that because at the moment I am eating this specific flavour of angst up with a spoon!!!!
team is a four letter word by @ladyofthenoodle
Alya didn’t want to come between Ladybug and Chat Noir. But she didn’t want to stop being Rena Rouge either. And if Chat Noir didn’t want to talk to her, then she’d need to find a different way to prove all three of them could be a team.
Her plan unintentionally brings a few secrets to light, which leads to even more secrets coming to light, which leads to… well, Alya is sure it’ll all work out eventually.
Multi-chapter. Warning, this fic is a WIP! I’m obssessed with this one. Season 4 spoilers all over the place, but the dynamics between Marinette & Adrien & Alya & Nino, the characterization, the emotion, the different perspectives and distinct voices!!!! I’m desperate for it to be complete (no pressure haha)
Bitter Water by @karkalicious769
“Plagg, I renounce you.”
Ladybug doesn’t move. She can’t move. To move would mean acknowledging what just happened, and if she doesn’t acknowledge it, then it’s not real.
Finally, she turns around. There’s no one waiting for her there. No wink of green eyes and a shit-eating grin coupled with finger guns as Chat Noir teases, “Had you for a second there, didn’t I, Bugaboo?” (And she’d be furious at him for a joke like that, but she’d hug him anyway, because at least it’s a joke.)
This isn’t a joke.
The Ring of the Black Cat sits abandoned, and Chat Noir is gone.
Two-shot. Marinette’s choices regarding Chat Noir in season 4 have consequences, and she needs to face up to that. This totally made me cry, but it was very cathartic.
The Angst of Adrien Agreste and Chinese Finger Traps by @coffeebanana
Chat Noir gets gets his fingers stuck in a toy he can’t get out of, and Marinette wasn’t expecting Adrien to show up to school the next morning with the toy she’d given Chat Noir.
SEASON 4 SPOILERS (Gang of Secrets, Optigami)
One-shot. This should be crack, but it’s not. While the vehicle for the reveal sounds ridiculous, the fic does a great job of delving into the underlying issues season 4 has been brewing and actually addressing them in a way that doesn’t feel like crack at all.
Transcient by @flightfoot
Everything was fine now, right? She’d assured him that she wasn’t mad about Su-Han knowing his identity, and he sounded like he was feeling better. She’d fixed the problem.
So why wasn’t the lump in her throat disappearing?
——————————
Chat’s worried about how Su-Han managed to learn his identity. Marinette re-examines her “Obtain Chat Noir’s identity” plan.
One-shot. Ephemeral fall out. Because of the content there’s obviously a lot of Adrien angst here too, but I appreciated Marinette’s perspective here, especially how upset she was to realize how much she’d hurt someone she cares about. And really some of the best angst comes from characters dealing with the fallout of their own mistakes.
The Importance of the Black Cat by @chatonne-rousse
Plagg gets down almost two full wedges of cheese before Adrien sits down on the edge of his bed with a heavy sigh.
“Hey, Plagg?” His voice is quiet but doesn’t betray any emotion yet. That’s actually more worrying.
Steeling himself, Plagg swallows the last big bite of cheese and zips from the desk to perch on top of the globe, facing his holder. “What’s up?”
He heaves another sigh before looking up into Plagg’s eyes, emotions still unreadable.
“How important is the black cat?”
*****
Adrien has a lot on his mind - concerns, questions, doubts. And right now, he has only one being to confide in. There is not enough cheese in the world to make Plagg want to handle this situation, but his holder needs him, and he knows two things with certainty: his very important place in the world, and that no one hurts his kitten. Not if he has anything to say about it.
One-shot. You want some season 4 flavour Adrien angst? How about some post-Optigami wallowing? I love the portrayal of Adrien and Plagg’s relationship with the mix of light and heavy. Pretty sure I still owe Rosie a sequel to this one because I wanted to see more resolution afterwards and made the mistake of sharing my thoughts on that 🙈 It’s just very thought-provoking!!
and say you want me by @ladyofthenoodle
“If you’re still partners, what’s the problem? Did he do something to upset you?”
The problem was that even after they’d reconciled and tentatively worked things out, Chat Noir had still been hurt. He’d asked for space, and Ladybug had been so careful to respect his request. After months, she’d hoped they might grow closer again, but there was still a wall between them. She wasn’t sure if he’d ever ask to cross it.
But oh, she’d wait forever, if only he would.
One-shot. More season 4 fallout, this time it’s Marinette trying so hard to respect Chat’s boundaries after hurting him, but she’s missing her partner and mourning what was and in that kind of dark headspace where it seems the problem will never be fixed.
Partners by @karkalicious769
“Um.” Alya fidgeted nervously as her earrings beeped their countdown. “Ask me a question that only Ladybug would know the answer to.”
Chat Noir barred his teeth, and— Were they always that sharp? At least he wasn’t growling again. “You are not Ladybug,” he snapped.
“Just do it!”
It was all Alya had to go off of and she really needed to pull this partnership together before the akuma got any worse. She wasn’t deluded enough to think that she could do this without Chat Noir.
One-shot. SPOILERS FOR HACK-SAN!!! And yet some more season 4 feels because let’s be serious, this season is putting our kitty through the ringer. And this fic definitely does it, though by playing with the episode a little. Although we’ve got a tight Alya POV, Adrien’s hurt and suffering is palpable, and made all the worse by how resigned he is. Read this and sufferrrrrr.

Hello, I've been lurking on your blog for the past days and it's my safe space and I want to say thank you for it 💟 I love your thoughts on Eddie and your stories, and I wonder if you could collect all your thoughts why Eddie could or couldn't be back? If it's not too much to ask 💟
That's very kind of you, dear. Thank you so much, and I'm glad to hear that my stories and blog can bring you some comfort 🖤
As you asked, I collected everything on-screen and beyond I thought about over the past few days - but bear in mind that this isn't a meta blog so I'm probably the wrong one to address. But I've given my best!
On-screen things that seem(ed) sketchy regarding Eddie's death:
From the beginning, everything foreshadowed Eddie's death as a hero ("There's no shame in running. Don't try to be heroes. Not today.", "I did what I always do; I ran.", "I ran away. I left her there.", "Outside of D&D I am no hero. I see danger and I turn heel and run.", "I was too ashamed to be the one who stayed behind.") PLUS they even told us how it would end (the bat tattoo, the Duffer interview some time in 2021 where they said "a few of those bats won't do much. But if you got hundreds of them coming for you, they're absolutely deadly"). The only thing they didn't do was putting a sticky note with "I WILL SACRIFICE MYSELF" on his forehead. It was so obvious that 99% of the entire fandom was certain he'd die (➼ since it was so obvious that he'd die, I was certain he would live, if that makes sense. The Duffers love to make things obvious only to thwart our expectations.)
his death was utterly pointless and in vain. Yes, he drew the bats away from Dustin - but it made absolutely no sense to stop running from these things. Even if he was planning on sacrificing himself, continuing to run to draw them further away would have bought Dustin and the others much more time diversion-wise than facing them and going down. It made no sense, and it had no impact on the story or the outcome.
We discussed it yesterday on here: Hopper had a broken ankle, was completely weakened by his time in Russia and yet he fought a Demogorgon like it was nothing. Brenner, a grandpa at that point, carried Eleven, a 16-years-old, through an entire bunker and the scorching Nevada desert sun with missiles on his heels before his demise. Steve was attacked by the very same bats, while he was shirtless without any protective layers of clothing, and they ripped huge chunks out of him but he still fought like nothing happened only hours later. And Eddie, a healthy 18-20-years old young man, wearing protective gear he got from an army surplus store, went down immediately.
Eddie's wounds. The Duffers LOVE displaying gruesome wounds and showing long shots of the mutilated bodies of the characters they killed. They did the lingering horrible shots with Barb, Bob (his body being mauled by the Demodogs), and Billy (the gaping hole in his chest). They didn't do these shots with those who came back to life: Brenner, who was supposedly eaten by a Demogorgon in season 1, and Hopper, who was presumed dead after Starcourt in season 3. Eddie...falls in between. We see the moment the light leaves his eyes, but...we don't see any fatal wound. There's one on his throat, but he talks so much to Dustin still. Nobody with a fatal wound on their throat wouldn't be able to talk so much while drowning in their own blood. And the rest of his wounds? They're not deep or fatal enough to even soak the WHITE Hellfire shirt he's wearing. We - thankfully - never get a gruesome shot of his wounds or his body. And we know they never shied away from that, especially in ST4. Look at how they showed Max in Lucas' arms.
what bugs me: we already had a moment where two characters died simultaneously with one being teased to still be alive in a way, and that was Hopper and Billy. Hopper was teased to be alive in the season. Same with Max and Eddie: they died at the same time, but it's been teased already that Max could still have a chance. There was no hint that Eddie could return. None at all. And that guts me.
Brenner was eaten by a Demogorgon. We didn't see it, but it was canon for 2 seasons and they brought him back without any explanation, only a small facial scar. Wtf was that.
That "Two days later" cut. Leaving Eddie there might have been a forced decision by the gates ripping open but...that cut. Wtf. Is this Stranger Things or Spongebob??? If that wasn't intended to raise some suspicions and give them a way to retcon Eddie's death if need be, I don't know what it was.
Off-screen things which might be important to consider:
the Duffers have made a habit of introducing new beloved characters to kill them off and spare the main cast. It's exactly what we all dreaded when we got to know Eddie and all the foreshadowing trailing him like Vecna's very own curse.
Eddie was never part of any group promo posters like Argyle, who lived. But again...that's so, so obvious. It WAS basically the "I'll die"-sticky note.
sketchy: the amount of promotion, the effort to hype up Eddie before Vol 1 even aired. All the interviews Joe Quinn got to do with the main cast, the way the Duffers made it clear that Eddie was part of the main cast. The last new character introduced like that was Robin, and she's still alive. I was so, so certain that Eddie would join the main cast like Robin did in ST3; and it would have been a brilliant addition (I mean, neither Barb, Bob, Alexei nor Billy whose role was actually important and spanned over two seasons got an amount of promotion even close to that for Eddie). I don't understand the effort if they were planning to let him die all along. To make it hurt more? That's a waste, and it's cheap and bad writing.
sketchy: The interviews Joe did between Volumes. He implied on two different occasions that he'd be in ST5 (the whole "Charlie Heaton and me pressing for Eddie and Jonathan to meet in season 5" and "I've heard whispers about season 5, I'm excited about wht I've heard.") plus the whole "I hope they'll bring me back, I'd be furious if they don't" (which is the only of these three statements which could have been a joke). Link's here, if you want to read the article. It went so far that there was a huge amount of articles between season quoting him and being certain that Eddie would make it to season 5.
sketchy or probably just strange: the interview Joe did after Vol 2 aired. He's obviously as devastated and sad as we are about Eddie's fate, he even calls it weird. He states, again, that he'd love to be back but he has no clue. And he says he always had a feeling Eddie's story ended in ST4 (which, ngl, takes a lot of my hope away.) But he only learned about Eddie's fate way into filming, it seems. Of course they had a long break of filming due to Covid, so that's probably the reason he learned about it later on. We know the Duffers took the break to rewrite things...
there have been rumors - RUMORS! - about two different endings having been filmed for Eddie. If anyone knows anything about that or has links to interviews etc., feel free to share them
The Duffers saying they never thought that Eddie would have such an impact, that he'd be loved the way we love him
a shred of hope: they fell in love with Grace Van Dien and Chrissy, to the point where they teased they might have changed Chrissy's fate hadn't her death already been filmed, because they loved her and her chemistry with Eddie. It proves again that the Duffers are willing to change scripts and the fates of characters. (They did it with Steve and Billy and in a way Robin, too - but they didn't do it between seasons but in the process of making one season).
Plus Eddie's death was so pointless that resurrecting him wouldn't take away any character development or meaning. I even propose it would ADD meaning to bring him back. Let him wake up in the UD alone and rise like a phoenix from the ashes of the town he was ready to die for when they had nothing but hatered for him, let him crawl back to the surface and watch after all the lost little sheepies himself. Let him live as a hero, not die when there would have been noooo shame in running.
The sad answer is...I lost my trust in the Duffers and their writing skills. I think they wrote Eddie into the story with the purpose of killing him off as shock value, to raise the stakes for the main cast and rip out our hearts because ST4 wasn't supposed to have a happy ending and they don't have the courage to actually kill someone of their main cast.
But they misjudged the impact of Eddie's death on us, and the way it doesn't feel like a heartbreaking heroic sacrifice but cheap and pointless. That it isn't bittersweet but angering and simply sad. That they hurt a huge part of the fandom killing a character so many of us could relate to, in a series which, ultimately, is a series to celebrate non-conforming, the weirdos and nerds and freaks, the Eddie Munsons of this world and everything Eddie himself stood for. I know I'm not the only one whose love for the entire series died with Eddie.
So, the last shred of hope I have is for the Duffers to realize it was a mistake to kill Eddie and use the chance they got, since writing/filming for ST5 didn't start yet, and bring him back in season 5. Do what they couldn't do for Chrissy. But the question remains whether they see this chance, or whether they think they couldn't bring him back since he already died on screen.
But I'll cling to that hope because I seriously don't know what else to do. I'm sorry if that's not what you hoped it would be. But as long as season 5 isn't written and filmed, the Duffers still have the power. They're the Dungeon Masters of this game, after all. So, here's to hope 🖤
If anyone has additions, links, theories, I'd be happy to hear them! 🖤

"There's no place like gnome."
Stranger Things 3: The Game.
Gnomes 1-10. 🧙♂️
IT'S FINALLY HERE!
It's no secret that the Duffers take a lot of inspirations from Pop Culture. From the most well known movies to the more obscure comics, they are always able to sneak a reference somewhere everytime. And they are also able to make it connected to the story.
I've bragged about how the Stranger Things expanded universe in media is one of the best out there compared to many others. I think that the Duffers, the writers or people in the highest places of the marketing are really paying attention to what comes out of the ST franchise because there is no way to have such content with so many details without someone looking into them.
And ST3: The Game is a very good example of that.
So let's start! The first 10 Gnomes out of 50 that you have to find in the game.
BE AWARE THAT THERE ARE SPOILERS BELOW!
"There's elements that could please those who makes metas/analyzes or theories. Especially things related to possible future plot points, easter eggs, references in previous seasons mainly season 3 like unsolved mysteries or unanswered questions and for future seasons such as season 4 like foreshadowing or teasers, trailers or as of lately the sneak peek."
If you have anything you'd like to add, might think I have missed or think it might be referencing something else don't hesitate to share it by commenting or reblogging.
(Say thanks to @hawkinsschoolcounselor for having helped me with some of them. )

Gnome #1: Johnny
"He's here... with an axe."
Overall plot:
"The film's central character is Jack Torrance, an aspiring writer and recovering alcoholic who accepts a position as the off-season caretaker of the isolated historic Overlook Hotel in the Colorado Rockies. Wintering over with Jack are his wife, Wendy Torrance, and young son, Danny Torrance. Danny is gifted with "the shining", psychic abilities that enable him to see into the hotel's horrific past. The hotel cook, Dick Hallorann, also has this ability and is able to communicate with Danny telepathically. The hotel had a previous winter caretaker who went insane and killed his family and himself. After a winter storm leaves the Torrances snowbound, Jack's sanity deteriorates due to the influence of the supernatural forces that inhabit the hotel, placing his wife and son in danger."
So I assume a lot of you know The Shining by Stanley Kubrick. A movie which was adapted from the novel of the same name by Stephen King in 1977.
There's a lot of things that could have served as an inspiration for ST.
A boy/child who has psychic abilities = Eleven has psychic abilities such as telekinesis. Will has his True Sight which consist in seeing what the MF was seeing and feeling.
Now there's also the theme of family and parenthood that is also a big theme in Stranger Things. Especially abusive parenthood such as Brenner, Lonnie and even Hopper to a smaller degree.
In Shining, Jack tries to kill his family with an axe due to supernatural forces that are in the hotel but there's a difference between King and Kubrick. While King specifically said that Jack was heavily influenced by the Hotel, Kubrick shows that Jack always had that sinister violence in him even before they arrived at the hotel.
It's interesting to draw a parallel to Billy and Will, both characters called William who tried to kill their families and other people while being possessed. But Billy compared to Will was shown to have been abusive even before that. Dacre Montgomery also said that he was inspired by Jack Nicholson's performance in the Shining for his character Billy.
Joyce and Jonathan were shown to get ready to fight the monsters by taking an axe.
It's also interesting to note that Jack dies in the snow while a blizzard is happening outside the hotel. Much like the storm of the Mindflayer who is in the Upside Down, the same Mindflayer who "likes it cold". While in the book, the Overlook explodes and burn.
(Cold vs Fire much like everything Upside Down related not liking Fire.)
Also "Johnny" = "Jonathan", it's kind of similar and Jonathan did wield an axe before. Maybe this is teasing parts of Jonathan storyline next seasons ?
The gnome was also found in Mike's basement, Mike who wants to be a writer when he's older just like Jack.
Let's just hope that Jonathan and Mike don't get the same fate as Jack.

Gnome #2: Christine
"Two bright, beaming lights for eyes."
Overall plot:
"Written by Bill Phillips and based on Stephen King's 1983 novel of the same title, the movie follows the changes in the lives of Arnie Cunningham, an awkward and unpopular teenager, his friends, his family, and his teenage enemies in Rockbridge, California after Arnie buys a classic red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury named Christine, licence number CQB 241, a car that seems to have a jealous, possessive personality – and a mind of its own, which has a bad influence on Arnie. After working on a car in a junkyard owned by Will Darnell, Arnie drops his glasses, starts dressing like a 1950's greaser and develops an arrogant and paranoid personality. He than decides to invite and date the most beautiful girl in highschool, Leigh, who will soon become the next victim of Christine."
I was actually quite surprised by how this story parallels Stranger Things a lot.
First off, Christine is very much like The Mindflayer, a dangerous supernatural being set out to destroy anyone who is in her way, the people who tries to take the things that she thinks belongs to her or threatens her. This is very much relevant to The Mindflayer who after being hurt by the Fire created by the Hawkins Lab was upset and attacked everyone he could. Or as Will putted "Not me, everyone else."
This is very much like Christine who tried to kill Leigh because she was taking her place in the life of Arnie. Christine also tried to kill the bullies of Arnie who after a conflit with him, tried to destroy the car which angered Christine heavily.
The Mindflayer has been described someone who views himself as superior to other species and wants to conquer them, even if it's not his real "goal", the description fits anyone who is possessive and paranoid.
Both the MF and Christine are associated with the color red. Red storm = red color of the car.
Arnie ressembles Will and Billy alot. Will is an awkward and unpopular teenager who after being possessed by the Mindflayer became very different and more violent. Billy was shown to be paranoid, jealous, violent and his look even ressembles the one Arnie takes after repairing Christine.
Both of these boys have the same name as Will Darnell, the owner of a junkyard. Just like the boys in Season 1 who takes shelter in a junkyard, or in season 2 where they fight the Demodogs.
Billy dies, killed by the Mindflayer just like Arnie who was completely possessed by Christine who tried to kill Leigh and Dennis, his best friend after they tried to destroy the car when they realised the supernatural nature of it.
Billy's car ressembles a lot Christine with those lights on. Especially with shots like in the Void or at Starcourt during the night.
Chrissy, a new character that will be in season 4, the most popular girl in Hawkins High like Leigh, has a name that is the diminutive of Christine. It is said that under the perfect surface lies a dark secret. Much like the car Christine, while a beauty is actually a dangerous supernatural being. We'll see if the both of them actually connects in the show.
Also it is set in California where Billy and Max come from and has been rumored by many people due to set leaks (The Surfer Boy Pizza Van.) that it is where the Byers went. I won't get into it in this post but this could be a tease or hint of that IF the set leaks ARE true and not fake to mess with people and the fandom.
Arnie also dies in a car crash having been completely possessed by the evil powers of Christine which is something we see in the sneak peek of ST4. It also reminds of Carrie who has a bully named Chris who she kills in a car crash with her boyfriend Billy aka William.
So will someone die from that car crash ? Who is it ? Chrissy, Joyce, Lonnie ? We can only speculate.
The gnome is also found outside the Wheeler's house where Karen lives near the community pool where Billy works and where the car of Billy is located during the first few chapters of the game. Again, a "bad boy" hitting on the beautiful girl in town. (with a lot of creepy subtext all over it.)

Gnome #3: Doc
"Always mumbling something about being late."
Overall plot:
"Set in 1985, in the town of Hill Valley, California, the story follows Marty McFly, a teenager accidentally sent back to 1955 in a time-traveling DeLorean automobile built by his eccentric scientist friend Doctor Emmett "Doc" Brown. Trapped in the past, Marty inadvertently prevents his future parents' meeting—threatening his very existence—and is forced to reconcile the pair and somehow get back to the future."
So I don't think I need to explain why this is here given how much it has been shown and mentioned in season 3. But few things are interesting here, the fact that California is mentioned is a big deal for me again. I know you are aware of the set leaks just as I am aware, if we can trust them than this could be a hint of that location.
Next, we have the theme of Time. Now ever since ST4 was announced, clocks and times have been a key feature in the promotion. Who know what this might mean but again, we're not going to develop that in the post.
There is also the whole funny scenes of Robin realising that indeed Marty's mother had tried to "bang" her own son. Now given the nature of the shown, certain images in the show during certain events and certain stories, you know to what it connects and to which theories it connects. Won't develop further on it but it can be used as an element that can go into those theories.
The gnome is also found outside of Starcourt Mall where Robin and Steve talk about "Back to the Future". It is also where Billy has his "Back to te Future" moment with his car going extremely fast just like the DeLorean.

Gnome #4: Indiana
"Master of Adventure."
Overall plot:
"After arriving in India, Indiana Jones is asked by desperate villagers to find a mystical stone and rescue their children from a Thuggee cult practicing child slavery, black magic, and ritualistic human sacrifice in honor of the goddess, Kali."
Fun fact, on Twitter for ST3 promo, a parody poster of this same movie has been posted here of the official ST account.
Jim is obviously Indiana Jones, the look speaks for itself and when he is in the Tunnels in season 2, there's a lot of Indiana Jones imagery.
And of course Kali as 008, a Hindu goddess but as we will see here, it parallels more the Mindflayer.
In 1935, Indiana Jones survives a murder attempt by Lao Che, a crime boss in Shanghai who has hired him to retrieve the remains of Emperor Nurhaci. With his young orphaned Chinese sidekick, Short Round, and the nightclub singer, Willie Scott, in tow, Indy flees Shanghai on a cargo aircraft. While the three of them are asleep, the pilots (employed by Lao Che) dump the fuel and escape via parachute, leaving the plane to crash over the Himalayas. The three narrowly manage to survive by jumping out of the plane on an inflatable raft.
(I wonder if this could be something we see in season 4 with Hopper where he tries to escape on a plane and ends up crashing somewhere or is betrayed by someone who he asked the help of. Now it's a trio and in season 3, Jim, Joyce, Alexei and Murray are the main group that fits this trio. Jim for all the fighting and crazy shit, Joyce and Alexei are kind of like Short Round, they are the sidekicks of Hopper. Murray the role of Willie Scott since she speaks Chinese and him Russian and that Jim just like Indy finds annoying sometimes. Alexei is also kind of like Willie since he kinda goes along with them.
But if we also look at season 2, El is alot like Short Round since she is kind of an orphan too and has a father figure later on. It could also be Will since Hopper is with him a lot of times through season 2. Also Willie did felt out of her element like Alexei because of course he is Russian. Willie in itself doesn't have a lot in common with Joyce but still it's another connection to Will since she has a name close to the one of her sons. Something that does fit a bit more is Jim and Hopper both escaping death, of course Hopper at the end of season 3 but also during season 3 at the farm where he's being shot at by Gregori and than the car doesn't work and explodes and they have to make their way through the forest.
Willie Scott could also be referenced when El disguise herself as this pretty blonde girl in season 1.
Now however, Scoop Troops does fit certain parts of these trio. All the fighting with Steve like Indiana Jones but Robin got his brain because she cracked the code. Dustin and Erica are kinda like short round (especially Dustin who has kind of the same hat as short round.) and are referenced with all the others as children by Robin. Steve doesn't feel in his element like Willie with the three of them who are nerds just like Erica who also doesn't want to accept it. And Robin just like Willie speaks some languages.)
They ride down the mountain slopes and fall into a raging river, eventually arriving at the village of Mayapore in northern India. The villagers plead for their aid in retrieving the sacred stone (shivalinga) stolen from their shrine, along with their missing children, by evil forces in the nearby Pankot Palace. Indy agrees to do so, hypothesizing that the stone is one of the five Sankara stones given by the gods to help humanity fight evil. (It's kinda like Alexei who turns his back on the Russians, for his life of course and agrees to help Hopper close the gate to save Hawkins and their kids before monsters start to appear or may attack one of their kids. Now the stone could be something similar to the promethium or the two keys who opens the gate and is a highly valuable ressource. It also may be the Flayed who are needed to create the monster for the Mindflayer.)
The trio receive a warm welcome at Pankot Palace and are allowed to stay for the night as guests, attending a lavish, but revolting, banquet hosted by the young Maharajah. The officials rebuff Indy's theory that the Thuggee cult is responsible for their troubles. Later that night, Indy is attacked by an assassin. After Indy kills him, he discovers a series of tunnels hidden behind a statue and sets out to explore them, overcoming a number of booby-traps.
(This could be like when Hopper, Joyce and Murray disguised themselves as Russian soldiers but was than discovered by Grigori who attacks them.
The tunnels could be both groups discovering that there is a secret russian base underground and a gate which explains why there are monsters again in Hawkins but it also be the Source, Brimborn Steel Works, where the Mindflayer is lurking underground where he has cult-like followers who makes sacrifices for him to grow bigger and bigger.
It's also like the Tunnels in season 2 who explains why the soil of Hawkins seemed to literally rot. )
The trio reach an underground temple where the Thuggees worship Kali with human sacrifice. They discover that the Thuggees now possess three of the Sankara stones and have enslaved the children to search for the last two, hidden in the palace catacombs. As Indy tries to retrieve the stones, he, Willie, and Shorty are captured. Thuggee high priest Mola Ram forces Indy to drink a potion that puts him into a trance-like state in which he mindlessly serves the cult. (It's very much like Robin and Steve who after discovering the gate are catched by the Russians and than drugged to answer their questions. But also like the Flayed who drinks the chemicals and serves the Mindflayer like a mindless cult.)
Willie is prepared for sacrifice, while Shorty is put to work in the mines with the other children. Shorty escapes and returns to the temple, where he first frees Indy and, later, the Maharajah from the effects of the potion. Indy saves Willie and retrieves the stones. After freeing the children, Indy fights a hulking overseer and leaves him to be killed by a rock crusher. (Basically Dustin saves Steve and Robin. Willie being prepared for sacrifice is kind of like El prepared for sacrifice by Billy in 3x08 but also frees Billy from the effects of the Mindflayer by making him remember his mother, a pretty blonde woman like Willie and sacrifices himself. And Hopper fights Gregori, a "hulking overseer" and kills him.)
The trio escape from the temple, pursued by Thuggees, and barely escape Mola Ram's attempt to flood them out. They are again ambushed by Mola Ram and his henchmen on a rope bridge above a crocodile-infested river. Indy cuts the bridge, causing several of the henchmen to fall to the crocodiles and leaving the survivors to hang on for their lives. As Mola Ram and Indy struggle, Indy invokes the name of Shiva, causing the stones to glow red-hot and burn through Indy's satchel. Two of them fall out; Mola Ram tries to catch the third, but burns his hand and falls from the bridge and into the river, where he, too, is eaten by the crocodiles. (This can be connected to all the kids fighting in Hawkins with the Spider Monster. But the bridge could also fit for the key in the secret base where Hopper and Gregori fights. The gruesome death of Mola Ram is similar to the gruesome death that Gregori has.)
Indy catches the stone safely and climbs up just as a company of British Indian Army riflemen, sent by the Maharajah, arrive and open fire against the Thuggees to drive them away; the surviving Thuggees are soon cornered and arrested by more soldiers. Indy, Willie, and Shorty return safely to Mayapore with the stone and the missing children. (While it may end well in the movie, we know Billy and multiple people die, the Thuggees unlike the Russians have been captured while the Russians where all able to flee before the US Army arrives and Hopper is presumed dead. Only the children in both stories are alive but are probably traumatized for life.)
All in all we can see that this movie might have had a big influence on the plot of season 3 through many characters and more. It may have some hints about possible events for Hopper in season 4 or even beyond but that's about it for. It's a nice package of comparaisons and references though.
The gnome is found in the Hawkins Community Pool where Billy is. The same Billy who obeys mindlessly the Mindflayer and sacrifices people to it. Just like the Thuggees with Kali.

Gnome #5: Chunk
"Posed in some odd dance maneuver."
Overall plot:
"In the film, a band of kids who live in the "Goon Docks" neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon, attempt to save their homes from foreclosure and, in doing so, they discover an old treasure map that takes them on an adventure to unearth the long-lost fortune of One-Eyed Willy, a legendary 17th-century pirate. During the adventure, they are chased by a family of criminals who want the treasure for themselves."
So first, let's get this out of the way, Sean Astin who play Bob Newby, our beloved who plays a character named Mikey.
The Goonies is a 1985 American adventure comedy film co-produced and directed by Richard Donner from a screenplay by Chris Columbus, based on a story by executive producer Steven Spielberg. In the film, kids who live in the "Goon Docks" neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon, attempt to save their homes from foreclosure and, in doing so, they discover an old treasure map that takes them on an adventure to unearth the long-lost fortune of One-Eyed Willy, a legendary 17th-century pirate. During the adventure, they are chased by a family of criminals who want the treasure for themselves.
I wonder if this might hint at some Season 4 plot right here. The Hawkins gang faces the threat of Hawkins becoming a literal ghost down and might need to find something to save it. Also Willy like William, again Will is still there.
The Goonies include optimist lead Goonie Mikey Walsh, his older brother Brandon, the inventive Data, the talkative Mouth, and the overweight klutz Chunk.
Rummaging through the Walshes' attic, they come across a 1632 doubloon and an old treasure map purporting to lead to the treasure of legendary pirate "One-Eyed Willy", believed to be located somewhere nearby. Mikey considers One-Eyed Willy to be the original Goonie. (It kinda reminds me of Mike who got mad at Max in season 2 and told her they didn't need another party member. And he mentionned Will first right after him.)
The kids overpower and bind Brandon and make their way to an abandoned restaurant on the coast that coincides with the map; Brandon soon follows alongside Andy, a cheerleader with a crush on him ( there has been cheerleaders that have been reported in season 4 such as Chrissy.); and Stef, Andy's friend. The group quickly discovers the derelict restaurant is a hideout of the Fratelli crime family: Francis, Jake, and their mother. (Maybe it is both a reference to the Russians in season 3 who have a hideout under the mall who have many restaurants. Or the Lab who OBVIOUSLY does a lot of illegal activities. )
The Goonies find a tunnel in the basement and follow it (like the tunnels made by the Mindflayer in season 2), but when Chunk flags down a motorist to go to the sheriff’s station, he gets abducted by the assailants and imprisoned with their hulking, deformed, younger brother Sloth. (This is obviously like Dustin who befriends Dart in season 2, a literal Demogorgon in the making.)
The Fratellis interrogate Chunk until he reveals where the Goonies have gone, and begin pursuit. Chunk is left behind with Sloth, but befriends him. After Sloth frees both of them, Chunk calls the sheriff, and both follow the trail of the Fratellis. (This is very reminiscent of Hopper in season 1 who gets interrogated by Lab agents or Steve and Robin by the Russians.)
The Goonies evade several deadly booby traps along the tunnels, while staying ahead of the Fratellis. Finally, they reach the grotto where Willy's pirate ship, the Inferno, is anchored. (Will also has a ship, the rainbow ship he drew for Joyce, also Inferno literally means Hell just like what Hawkins has been called.)
The group discovers the ship is filled with treasure, and they start filling their pockets, but Mikey warns them not to take any on a set of scales in front of Willy, considering that to be their tribute to him. As they leave the ship, the assailants appear and strip them of their loot. They start to bind the Goonies and make them walk the plank, until Chunk arrives with Sloth and distracts the assailants long enough for the Goonies to jump overboard and swim to safety. (It's the opposite of the season 2 finale, where Dustin has to distract Dart so that the other could pass through the tunnels.)
The Fratellis proceed to grab all the treasure they can, including those on Willy's scales; this triggers another booby trap that causes the grotto to cave in. With Sloth's help, the Goonies and Fratellis barely escape.
The two groups emerge on Astoria's beach, where they reunite with the Goonies' families and the police. The Fratellis are arrested, but Chunk prevents Sloth from also being taken; he invites Sloth to live with him, which Sloth accepts. ("Unfortunately", Dart compared to Sloth probably died.)
As the kids describe their adventure to their parents, the Walshes' housekeeper, Rosalita, discovers that Mikey's marble bag is filled with gems he took from the ship and had not been seized by the Fratellis. Mikey's father triumphantly rips up the foreclosure papers, declaring they have enough money to negate the foreclosure. As the Goonies celebrate, they see the Inferno, having broken free of the grotto, sailing off on its own in the distance. (Could it be hinting at a possible happy ending for Stranger Things ?)
So Fratellis, is similar to fratello which means "brother, fellow, neighbor" which perhaps could be a reference to the Mindflayer who is kind of our neighbor since he is basically in the same places but in the Upside Down. The Mindflayer also has been paralleled to Billy and other abusive father figures. Billy who is the brother of Max. He has also been paralleled to Kali through his anger and him attacking people who hurted him or might hurt him. Could in itself The Mindflayer should be taken or seen as some sort of family figure ? Maybe him being always associated with Will The Wise especially in 2x04 or someone who has the name Will like Billy is a connection. The same Billy who also parallels Russians who just like the Fratellis have secret hideouts.
Though the Fratellis are more motivated by greed which fits Brenner, Lonnie (who tried to use his son's death to gain money.) or Russians most.
Now Willy, Willy is a captain. Maybe it could be hinting at the fact that Will has more importance to the story than we think. There's also Inferno, "Hell" which is Hawkins but also the name of the ship. And Will has a rainbow ship... Could Hawkins be the ship of Will where his adventures are taking place ?
As for the dance... well as you've seen upper in the post: it's the "Truffle Shuffle Dance". It's something that Chunk has to do before entering Mikey's house. It's similar to what Dustin do at the beginning of season 1 to the bullies when he makes his bones crack due to his medical condition, cleidocranial dysplasia.
As for where this gnome is located, it's in Weathertop where Cerebro is located which is fitting since Dustin has a lot of Goonies as inspiration for his character.

Gnome #6: Elvis
"He's not dead!"
"Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977), also known simply as Elvis, was an American singer and actor. Dubbed the "King of Rock and Roll", he is regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century. His energized interpretations of songs and sexually provocative performance style, combined with a singularly potent mix of influences across color lines during a transformative era in race relations, led him to both great success and initial controversy." - Wikipedia.
It is a lot known that people in the 80's thought that Elvis Presley was still alive due to his status and the aura he had as a celebrity. However, no matter how appealing this myth may be, he died of an excessive usage of prescription drugs which reminds me of Nancy who said she thought Tom was on drugs when he fired her and Jonathan while he an the Flayed were drinking chemicals. He also died in 1977, the same year "Heroes" by David Bowie came out which is a song that was used two times when we thought a character died when he was actually alive which are Will and Hopper. Will and Hopper both have a lot of rock in their Spotify playlist.
Also, I personally think that Steve has kind of an Elvis Presley aura to him especially in season 1. After all, Steve has a nickname "King Steve" and Elvis Presley is often nicknamed "The King" and both were popular with girls.
Fun fact: Dacre Montgomery who plays Billy who literally becomes the new "King" of Hawkins will play in the biographical music drama "Elvis" about Elvis Presley where he will play a character called "Steve Binder".
Also actor David Harbour also got married with singer Lily Allen by Elvis in Las Vegas.
It's also found hidden behind bushes near the Public Library. Maybe indicating that Elvis is still out there in the world and hiding.
Which also may be a reference to Brenner who has a similar haircut but also about the novel "Suspicious Minds", a prequel of ST taking place in the Lab when Brenner was doing his sinister experiments which is the same title as one of the songs of Elvis. Like Elvis, Brenner is still out there, hiding in Hawkins.

Gnome #7: Jack
"All work and no play makes Jack a dull gnome."
Again another reference to Shining. So what you are seeing here is a proverb, it means: "It means that without time off from work, a person becomes both bored and boring."
In Shining, it represents Jack's slow descent into madness. But it could be a reference to Joyce, Jonathan and Nancy who all work their asses off and don't take a lot of time for themselves and so don't have the time to explore anything else than work which also cause for them not to be there when Will got kidnapped. It may also represent Jonathan's words to Nancy in season 1 where he "called out" the boring life she will have and that she will live like her parents so in this case the proverb becomes about societal norms.
Mike just like Jack is an aspiring writer, Mike just like other members of his family falls into these societal norms that are expected like work and overworking in this instance which makes them boring in the eyes of people like Jonathan. "No play" may also reference D&D which Mike started to ignore in season 3 and worried more pointless and superficial things.
Again, hope it doesn't foreshadow anything for these two characters.
This gnome is found in the Library which is fitting considering Jack wants to be a writer.
_____________________________
Gnome #8: Flynn (Flynn Rider from "Tangled" (2010))
"Looks like he rides well."
Overall plot of Tangled (2010):
"The film tells the story of Rapunzel, a lost, young princess with magical long blonde hair who yearns to leave her secluded tower. Against her abusive foster mother's wishes who kidnappee her when she was young, she accepts the aid of an intruder to take her out into the world which she has never seen."
This story is literally what the boys was arguing about at the end of season 1.
1)The lost knight...
Flynn Rider is actually the son of a king and queen that were from a kingdom that got destroyed by a powerful opal. He was evacuated and placed in an orphanage. He made his reputation as thief.
So Mike and El both parallels this guy, well Mike is a palladin in D&D and he is the son of a wealthy family so he is basically a night. El however also lost her parents like him and has more attributes of a knight in season 1 than Mike.
Flynn is arrogant, which Mike can be a bit sometimes but the both of them can be extremely courageous and care a lot about the people they care about though they are not very strong, nor athletic. Maybe Flynn a bit more.
Also fun coincidence Flynn = Finn, the name of the actor who plays Mike. (almost the same name).
Both him and El run into each other in the woods. Just like Flynn who discover Rapunzel while trying to enter Rapunzel's tower but is knocked out by her who is none other than the...
2)The proud princess...
Well first Rapunzel = Eleven. Both of these girls have magical powers and are used by an abusive and evil parental figure who needs them for their own interest, Mother Gothel used the powers of Rapunzel to stay young forever (like an addiction, a drug) and Martin Brenner aka "Papa". They are both locked away somewhere. El in the lab and Rapunzel in the tower which they both seeked to escape out of. Both believed that these parental figures loved them while it was not true. El also has long blond hair in season 1 like Rapunzel. And both quickly form a relationship with a boy they just met. Both don't know who their real parents are and wants to find them. While Rapunzel has long blonde hair, El had a shaved head.
Also in season 2, El is locked in a cabin in the woods because of Hopper because he believe it is not safe out there which is exactly what Mother Gothel tells Rapunzel. Just like her El disobeys and seeks to discover who her true parents are.
Rapunzel seeks to know what are those floating lights that always appear on her birthday, it is actually her parents who are the king and queen of a kingdom not so far away that do that every year hoping one day she will come back to her. She is a "lost princess". It is very similar to Terry Ives who was communicating through the lights to El.
Rapunzel's power comes out of something that is also connected to something famous in ST.
3) Weird flowers in the cave...
Rapunzel's power come from a flower called "Sundrop flower". = Sunflower which is said by Terry Ives.
This flower can pretty much heal anything including mortal wounds. The Queen got pregnant with Rapunzel but was also terribly sick so she took this flower to heal herself and while doing so, Rapunzel got this ability.
This is very reminiscent of Terry Ives who was pregnant with El and took part in the MKUltra experiences that gave her these powers including certain drugs. She is also "ill" in a way as she is now stuck in a loop. At least from what we saw.
But Rapunzel also parallels another character.
Will Byers. Will could communicate through lights to his mother, just like the parents of Rapunzel and Terry Ives.
The weird flowers could be referencing the sort of vines that entered inside of him in the Upside Down which gave him his "now-memories".
Both had abusive parental figure that would lock them somewhere for whatever reason. (Lonnie with Will in his trunk.)
(Also Hopper may have tried to separate Mike and El but he wasn't like what a Lonnie or Brenner would have been. This is why yes, the situation in season 2 parallels but Hopper truly wished good for El while Brenner and Mother Gothel didn't care for any of these two.)
Same is for Lonnie, he doesn't care about Will.
Since Will is a cleric, both him and Rapunzel have the same time of power. Powers that El doesn't have:
To heal the sick and injured
To revive the dead
To work as a shield
Given this story, it may hint at the fact that Brenner and Lonnie may try to take El and Will for their own greed and purposes.
Since Rapunzel parallels both Will and El, you know what that means for Flynn who parallels Mike.
Flynn in the movie is stabbed by Mother Gothel and dies before cutting the hair of Rapunzel killing Mother Gothel in the process. Rapunzel mourns him and one of his tears heal him.
If Flynn parallels Mike, than something bad could happen to him. If Will does have powers and has feelings for Mike, a supposed death may reveal his powers.
And if he has the same powers as his cleric role, than he could heal those who get hurt or even bring the dead back to life.
If Lonnie sees Mike around Will, given he is homophobic. He may try to hurt him so that he doesn't go near Will again which could lead to him being in grave danger.
Of course all of that is just speculation.
This gnome was found on the parking lot of Starcourt where El decided to break up with Mike and we saw Will smiling in the background.
Also I don't know but... "Looks like he rides well", I mean there's certain undertones to that which are... I don't know how to process that but from what you've just read, Mike apparently rides well. I mean I have nothing against gay sex jokes but still...
Even if it's unintentional, it's how it'll sound on the internet.

Gnome #9: David
"At 399, he's the oldest gnome around."
So this gnome was already in the first ST official mobile game. And this reminds me a lot of The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit but also and of course; Dungeons & Dragons.
The World of David the Gnome, originally titled David, el Gnomo (also known as David, the Gnome), is a Spanish animated television series based on the children's book The Secret Book of Gnomes, by the Dutch author Wil Huygen and illustrator Rien Poortvliet. The series was originally created in Spain by BRB Internacional (who were also responsible for the Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds franchise (Like Dart in season 2 and Mike, Lucas and Dustin where very much like the Three Musketeers in season 1.) and other cartoons such as Bobobobs and Around the World with Willy Fog)
The series presents the gnomes as a kind species, of 15 centimetres (6 inches) of height, and between 250 and 300 grams (8 and 10 ounces) of weight depending on gnome body mass. According to their habitat, different types of gnomes are distinguished: the ones of the forest, the ones of the garden, the ones of the farm, the ones of the house, the ones of the dunes, those of Siberia (David = David Harbour = Hopper = Hopper is in Russia), and nomadic "gypsy" gnomes (commonly looked down upon by other gnomes). A gnome's lifespan is usually 400 years, though there is one example of a couple in the Balkans living 550 years.
Gnomes such as the main characters live in pairs in comfortable caves or holes under trees [kinda like Hobbits] (in their case in the company of a pair of mice and a cricket). Their diet is mostly vegetarian. They are helped by the animals of the forest (kinda like Radagast who is the password to Castle Byers who is located in the woods) when travelling long distances or when they need to arrive quickly at a specific location. Gnomes work in various ways to repair the damage inevitably caused by humans. They also have the power of telepathy and mind control. (kinda like El or the Mindflayer, or even Galadriel in The Lord Of The Rings.)
Their main enemies are the trolls, malevolent and clumsy creatures who always make trouble for the other inhabitants of the forest, as well as gnome poachers. They have supernatural powers that are really strong but they have a weakness, if the sunlight gets on them, they turn to stone.(could be referencing all the Upside Down creatures who don't like sunlight and everything hot.) [Also very much like the Hobbit.] Also one of the trolls was voiced by someone who had the name Henderson, like Dustin Henderson. I also think it references a comic where some bullies attack Will and Mike calls them trolls.
Here are the most important characters:
David is a gnome of the forest. David is 399 years old, making him the oldest gnome around (since gnomes live no more than 400 years exactly, except Franklin, the gnome from the west, who lived 550 years), although he possesses exceptional constitution. David is a doctor, and he uses his knowledge of many fields, such as hypnosis and acupuncture, to heal his patients, usually animals, such as his faithful friend Swift the fox, or other gnomes. David also befriends a bird that, when he whistles, immediately arrives to quickly transport him to wherever necessary. For longer trips, he sometimes travels in a basket attached to the neck of the bird. (It may be a reference to clerics who are known to heal their allies and travelling with birds reminds me of Gandald who sometimes has the help of Eagles in some stories.)
Paul is David's twin brother. Not only does Paul have a normal moustache in contrast to David's handlebar moustache but his jumper is a darker shade of blue, he has a bigger nose, his gnome hat is dark blue whereas David's is red, and his trousers and boots are an inverse of David's: David's trousers are brown and his boots are beige, while Paul wears beige trousers and dark boots. (Of course this is a reference to Will and El who have been compared a lot of times throughout the show and who a lot of people in the fandom consider them siblings and twins, Will has a lot of Red in his wardrobe while El has a lot of blue.)
This gnome was found in a secret Russian base underground in Weathertop where Dustin discovers the Russian transmission coming from their main base located under the mall like a cave (like where gnome lives.). There are also gnomes in Siberia and having the name David, the name of Hopper's actor creates a connection since right now Hopper is in Russia. It may also be a nod to the group of kids who are all little gnomes running around the forest with their magical powers.

Gnome #10: Baskin
"Robin's favorite gnome."
Now this is a funny one.
This is a reference to the famous Baskin-Robbins which is a chain of ice cream restaurants that did special ice creams for Season 3 because of Scoops Ahoy. It is Robin's favorite gnome because they literally share the same name.
Baskin could also be a reference to the film of the same name where Five police officers, Remzi, Arda, Yavuz, Apo, and Seyfi, are dining at a restaurant, during which they have a discussion. Their meal is interrupted when they receive a distress call from Inceagac, a town known for being the focus of strange rumors. During the trip Seyfi has a terrifying vision of a bloody figure and accidentally drives their van into the water. Stranded, the officers eventually make their way to Inceagac, where they find themselves in an abandoned building (back in the Ottoman days, this used to be a police station), captured by cult members and are subjected to a number of increasingly bizarre and surreal scenarios. In the end, they realize they have all inadvertently wandered into Hell.
It has alot of similiraties with stories like Silent Hills or Hellraiser, two stories that inspired Stranger Things especially Hellraiser for Stranger Things 4. And it fully embraces the satanic imagery and themes which is something we are going to see with the satanic panic and also has the theme of time, dreams and visions.
We'll see how much season 4 decides to use those sort of elements in the show.
Well this gnome is easy to find. It's in the Scoops Ahoy parlor next to Robin. USS Butterscotch seems to be very popular there

INTERLUDE II: FREEDOM
Suggested Listenings/ Songs Mentioned: Luvin U x 6LACK;
Free x 6LACK; River of Tears x Alessia Cara
Prompts Included: “You’re never this quiet, what’s wrong?” & “Delete it. Now.” submitted by @princessstevens & Anon
4 years, 5 months, 19 days, and 12 hours had passed since the last time I saw her face and even now, she was still as beautiful as I remembered. Her hair was pulled back into long passion twists that stopped just above the waistline of the distressed denim jeans. The crisp white hightop Chuck Taylors matched the cropped top that she wore and orange Cateye frames decorated her face. She was regal and after all this time, she still took my breath away.
“Long time no see,” she finally spoke after a beat, regarding me with the smile that used to make my knees weak. I kept my face neutral, not wanting to give my wayward emotions away.
“Why are you here?”
“I missed you.”
“Bullshit.”
“I’m serious, Skylar. I never stopped thinking about you, and the fact that your face is on nearly every billboard in LA doesn’t exactly make it easy to avoid you.”
“You’re an actress and I've been avoiding you just fine, Monica.” I know that cut deep, but at the moment, I didn’t give a fuck. She had no right to be in my shop attempting to profess any type of feelings for me. We had long since ended our proverbial song and dance.
“So you have no words for me? No questions as to where I went or why I did what I did?”
“Monica, it’s been 4 years since the last time we spoke. As always, you got me all excited, talking about marriage, kids, and all that other shit, but then once your parents and family began shunning you for being happy with a woman, you changed. You projected your trauma and pain onto me as though I was the problem. Like I conned my way between your legs and forced you to want a life with me. It’s been the same song and dance between us since college. So forgive me if I don’t welcome you with open arms whenever the wind decides to blow you into my life. I’m not some toy that you can pick up and play with, then put back on the shelf when you feel like you don’t wanna be gay anymore. Your gay has seasons, mine doesn’t. This is me, 24/7 and I’ll be damned if I let you pull me into your pit of indecision and self-pity. I wasted 7 years of my life doing that, I’m good.”
“I think you should leave.” I was so busy fussing that I hadn’t even noticed O’Shea walk back in. Monica stood frozen, obviously taken aback by my speech, but it needed to be said. She took a step closer, regarding me carefully as her hands moved to touch my face. I moved my face and looked towards the exit.
“I’ll always love you,” she whispered softly as she turned to walk out of the shop.
“You good?”
“I’m fine, Shea.” I was lying and she knew it, but she just let me go, figuring a needed to be alone. I walked back to my office and called the one person I knew could make me feel better after seeing her.
“Nola Green Flowers, this is Ruben. How can I help you?”
————————
O’Shea had a way of catching me off guard with her questions. For the last week, I have been actively avoiding both her and Erik, knowing they both wanted to check in with me and my mental state. I mean, I know that they were just looking out for me, but I really hadn’t been in the mood to discuss anything. I wanted things to go back to the way they were before she barged into my shop.
“Sky?”
“Huh?”
“You’re never this quiet, what’s wrong?” The short answer: everything.
“If you don’t wanna talk about it, we don’t have to.”
“Nah, you’re fine. I need to. Monica and I met back in 2007. It was my senior year of undergrad and I was in the process of completing all of my exit requirements. She was a cheerleader with the prettiest smile and her skin was immaculate. Like no matter the time of day, she glowed. She was beauty in its rawest form and I was stuck. She was the first girl I had ever looked at and was like ‘wow, she’s beautiful.’”
“So she was your first girlfriend?”
“Yes. She was the first person, besides Erik that I found homeostasis with. We vibed and connected on a level that I hadn’t seen aside from my fathers.”
“So what happened?”
“In short, she wasn’t feeling it. We dated consistently for about 3 years until everything went downhill.”
“SKYYYLARRRRR!”
That sound never stopped being sexy to me. The way my name spilled from Monica’s lips as I licked and sucked her to oblivion was all the motivation I needed to make sure she’d sleep peacefully through the night as I worked on my dissertation.
“Come on Babygirl. I know you ain’t tired, I’m just getting started,” I teased as I rolled my tongue against her clit before slipping it into her entrance. She loved when I tongue-fucked her. I could always feel her essence pool up on my tongue before sliding down my throat, and I’d drink it all while staring into her eyes.
“Baby, I’m about to cum!” Bingo. I replaced my tongue with my fingers and slid up her body to place long, wet kisses down her neck and chest. One swipe of my thumb across her clit and she was squirting, soaking my fingers and sheets with that sweet nectar that had me addicted to her. I kissed her softly, massaging her legs and thighs to work the feeling back into them as I was sure they were numb. She hummed peacefully, thoroughly sated and drowsy from our session.
“I often caught myself watching her in awe, wondering how I got so lucky to be in the presence of someone so authentic. Though I was a fairly good person, I sometimes felt as though I didn’t deserve her.”
“I don’t think I wanna do this anymore..” My heart stopped as I looked into her eyes.
“It was fun while it lasted, but this lifestyle isn’t for me.”
“I wanted to yell. Fuss about her wasting my time for the last 3 years, getting my hopes up with talks of the future and children, but I let just let her go.”
“What did your dads say?”
“Papa Simon was crushed because he hated to see me cry, but Papa Ruben was like Erik. They both said that something felt off about her, but they kept quiet because they saw how happy I was. After we broke up, I drowned myself in my research. I made it so that I didn’t have time to nurture a relationship and therefore get my heart broken again. Then like clockwork, she’d pop back up every year or two, get back in my head, and drop me like a bad habit. It got to the point where I wouldn’t tell anyone she was back because I wasn’t sure how long she’d stay. Things finally ended in 2015. After 3 years of consistent dating followed by another 4 of on and off again flings, I was done. I couldn’t keep setting myself up for failure no matter how much I loved her.”
“How did you cope with her being gone?” “Erik. Sometimes I would call him to vent and he’d take me shopping or out for ice cream to take my mind off her.”
“Not to change the subject, but when was the last time you guys had sex?” The question was calm like she was merely asking about the weather. “I know it’s blunt, but it’s been weighing on my mind for a while.”
“Before Monica, I had never had sex with a woman so, at the time, sex with Erik was all I knew. It was convenient and it was great. After her, I knew no man could ever touch me or make me feel that way again. We had sex for the first time since college four years ago and that was when I knew that being with a man wasn’t for me.”
“So y’all haven’t had any type of sexual encounters in four years?” I shook my head no.
“So then why does he—”
“He likes to get you riled up. You’re the first girl that understands and accepts our relationship. Everyone else always says that there’s no way that we can continue to be platonic given our history.”
“There’s nothing to misunderstand about the two of you. It’s very clear that you guys have a bond that isn't inherently sexual and or romantic in nature. At least not between you.”
“I think so too, but everyone has their own opinions. I remember his last girl, Lynda. She always thought that there was more to our relationship and that I was trying to steal him away from her. In actuality, I was trying to save her life, but that’s neither here nor there.”
“Save her life?! Oh goodness. What she do?”
“Long story.”
“Bitch I got time.”
“Well…”
The sound of the phone ringing interrupted our story time and impromptu bonding.
“Dr. Green? It’s Oya. Could we meet in person? I’d like to discuss the toys you recommended.”
————————
I’m going down, and you have watched me drown // In a river of tears, lost beneath the stream
Under the waves I’ve found the strength to say // the river of tears has washed me clean
Alessia Cara has a way of singing my soul. I sat at my desk, nursing a bottle of Hennessy as my text thread stared back at me. My mind had typed and retyped the message, yet nothing seemed to thoroughly convey everything I was feeling. I sighed, chugging the rest of the bottle before letting my fingers dance against the keys.
All I ever asked of you was honesty. We have both always been super busy individuals so time wasn’t an issue, but I needed you to be your true self and I see now that you struggle with that. No matter how much I love and care for you, I can no longer allow you to make my heart your home whenever it’s convenient for you. I need someone that will shout their love for me to the heavens all the time, not just in the bedroom. I need someone that’s as raw and authentic with me as I am with them. So consider this my goodbye, I hope life treats you well.
I watched the grey bubbles appear before a reply came through. To my surprise, I had just poured my heart out to the wrong person and his response was simple.
That was beautiful. Delete it. Now.”
Of course I’d accidentally sent the message to Erik and as usual, he was right. She didn’t deserve my tears or an explanation of my feelings. I pushed myself up from my desk and wiped my tears as I walked upstairs to my bathroom. After a long, hot soak in the tub followed by my other Self-Care Sunday rituals, I changed my sheets and crawled into bed, vowing that tonight would be the last night that I cried for Monica Sanders.

I've read about vld showrunners saying they might add LGBT content in the show, do you think this means that Sheith relationship in first 3 seasons is supposed to be percieved as platonic (that might as well turn into romantic if they decide to go down that road), since it was something they've considered only after making these seasons? I ship Sheith with all my heart, but sometimes i'm afraid of getting my hopes up.
Well, to be honest, I’m not sure what you mean by “since it was something they’ve considered only after making these seasons”?? Because lgbt representation is a conversation they have been having since the start. In fact, if we get any lgbt rep at all, it’s been implied that that’s been planned since season 1.
My understanding is that the writers were unsure for a little while if Netflix would renew Voltron or not (which is why the ending for season 1 feels really abrupt and cut off, because they suddenly realized they would get a season 2 and didn’t have to give 1 a “softer ending”) but anYWAY, for a bit it seems they were unsure. And after they got the green light, they had to wait a bit before they could publicly confirm it. So, with that in mind:
In an interview right around when Voltron first started airing, Lauren and Joaquim mentioned how they both loved the korrasami ending and were happy to be part of it. When asked if Voltron would ever “take that step,” Lauren said, “we have those first 13 episodes and if we ever went beyond that, we would like to push the envelope” which to me says that if there was any representation they planned to carry through with, then they’ve already started building the groundwork for that from the very beginning. (source here)
Again, to me that says the most viable candidate for a gay relationship is Shiro and Keith, given how intimately close they’re portrayed as from the very beginning. Not to mention how the season starts with Keith running in to save Shiro like his knight in shining armor and ends with Shiro returning the favor. Plus all those other times they comfort each other and trust in one another and just–ya. If sheith was going to happen, they knew what they were doing and 100% planned it from the beginning.
And the thing is, the more questions like this I get the more I’m kind of curious if most people just aren’t aware of how animation works because?? Major plot points won’t get changed out of nowhere, an entire character arc for next season won’t just be rewritten. All the content for the rest of the series is probably well written out and a good portion of it already animated; animation takes lots of time, you have to do so much work in advance. If they were going to put lgbt representation in, it’s already been planned and written a long time ago.
When asked about ships, the show runners themselves actually talked about this. Because someone wanted to know if Lance and Keith would be “teased” because of how many people ship it, but that’s simply not the case. Lauren said “We’re not trying to cater to or bait anyone into anything. We’re just trying to do what’s right for the story.” And Joaquim followed with, “We also try not to be overtly affected by what popular opinion might be.”
Lauren goes on to say, “And we’re working in animation. Our schedule is so far in advance for that, even if people shipped Keith and Lance, we couldn’t go back and just change the story! And be like–and now they’re in love.” (source here)
In short–if we get lgbt representation, it’s because it’s what the writers originally intended and was probably drafted out when they first pitched the TV Bible. Not because they suddenly decided halfway through season 3 that adding it in would please fans. And honestly, I feel a lot more comfortable about that. Because you know it’s not something that just got shoehorned in and was an intentional part of the narrative that the writers are invested in.
Which is again why, if anything, sheith makes the most sense to me, as that’s the dynamic that’s been by far the most fleshed out and well developed. It just feels like if any relationship was built up as something romantic, sheith already has all the groundwork in place there

What are your thoughts on teen wolf? especially writing wise? I have stopped watching regularly around 3b and I wasn't too convinced by what I've seen here on tumblr about the rest of the episodes, in particular 6x10...
i will always have a special place in my heart for the characters i love that the show gave me. i still blog about teen wolf, i write fic, and i enjoyed s1-3a. saying that, i don’t particular enjoy what the show became, or look back on the experience i had as a fan with much nostalgia (i think we were v much used and abused as a fandom online, for sure). i love my part of fandom, though.
short answer about the writing... it was terrible because
1) there was a complete lack of planning and follow through
2) we love this idea/actor/theme for 30 seconds but oops now we don’t
3) they completely misused their social media as a way to a) explain away/correct plot holes in their own writing and b) encourage viewers to watch a show they implied to be many things that it turned out to... not be any of
long answer
as a disclaimer here, i watch a lot of tv, i watch stuff on cbs, abc, fox, cw, bbc, tbs, p much something from every network, and i’ve seen the highs and lows of writing through comedy, drama, medical, supernatural, and everything inbetween. i’m not a professional writer, i am only a consumer. i have, however, over the nearly 20 years of watching shows as a fangirl (where i’ve been into something i follow religiously, and then later became involved in online forums) honed my tastes and opinions. on average i watch 15 shows a week, last year it would have been 21 around february time, but i’ve cut six shows including 3 i started this fall and dropped because of writing issues similar to that of teen wolf, or it just got terrible, either way). i have totally tried to rationalise what teen wolf did and i just... can’t.
to elongate
1. the whole “let’s throw everything at the wall and see what sticks” approach is terrible. the best thing about breaking bad was that everything was planned to the very minute details. lost only picked up again when they were given an end date and suddenly had to come up with a plausible endgame. every season teen wolf has started off with a new plan, a new theme, and then it’s fallen apart because they’ve quite clearly changed their minds about something and either dropped it completely (they’re especially bad about dropping characters and never speaking of them again, or even acknowledging they were there in the first place), or made up new stuff to fit their new plan (scott is the true alpha so he can move mountain ash, kate is a werejaguar
not to mention they’ve joked about not being able to keep up with their own timelines, unsure how old any of the characters are, forgetting the characters have school/work/should be in prison, introducing siblings, changing history, forgetting actual canon...
2. kinda leads on from 1. where they would introduce an idea or a character and then totally lose interest and instead of trying hard to give them depth or something to do or going somewhere with the concept, they’d just drop it? see, parrish as a hellhound, kira as a kitsune, even way back when with stiles as a spark, a cool idea for thirty seconds to fit in with the plot and then... whoops it never happened, what are you talking about there was never a whole season about japanese culture, that season was about stiles conquering his internal battle with his own psyche telling him he’s never going to be good enough because we always make his dad out to be a total dick to him (surprise, his dad’s called noah, which we know you’ll hate because we dragged it out like some sort of magical plot twist, and also HIS dad is a dick so it’s okay he’s always told stiles he’d rather have had scott as a son) WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT FOXES FOR? THERE WAS NO FOX. THERE WAS NO TREE TRUNK. BANSHEES? THE FUCK? LYDIA JUST SCREAMS EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE AND SOMETIMES HAS MAGIC POWERS. but then doesn’t. pfft it doesn’t actually matter.
or worse conveniently fix it/disappear it. it was tiring to watch and be confused and wonder why they were treating you like an idiot as a viewer. like the show is on mtv sure, but at least awkward stuck to a clear timeline. awkward covered where characters vanished to. we never actually even got clarification on basics like... why did deaton never want to help derek in season one... even though he was the hale emissary? what did emissaries have to do with anything by the next episode as nothing ever happened with that whole theme... why did stiles have a magic spark... where did cora go... how did she come back and how did the alphas find her before derek... why did the alphas originally start a war with derek, kill off his pack but then decide they didn’t want derek and just wanted scott... why did scott let deucalion walk off into the sunset? WHY IS PETER STILL NOT IN PRISON FOR THE MURDER OF HIS NIECE? these questions are all like three seasons old but that’s all i have and they still bug me. i can’t believe the show has never covered any of these huge issues. it’s lazy. everyone likes consistency, nobody likes writing leaving this big wink like “you don’t really care about this do you???”
again, with the big deaths, the characters they did kill off all had opportunities not to die, they could have had different endings, but each time their death was used to create man pain, probably one of the many reasons i’m not as big on male characters (they always need something to prop them up and make them more heroic and tragic in the long run), and that writing? erica, boyd, allison, was cruel and unnecessary. it did nothing for the show, and it lessened the writing. it actually made it worse when they tried to defend it, because they’d been going on about it for so long before hand as if it was a new and exciting toothpaste they’d all just gotten “now even whiter than before/now with even more death!!!”
the fact they hadn’t planned out a season without stiles (despite knowing dylan was out) and so instead of giving all of the other characters a chance to grow and learn and develop they literally wrote a whole season about stiles (after all of 3b, and from what i can tell most of s4 and s5 was about stiles). every character seemed to be focused on this missing person. the whole season was based around a character that wasn’t even on screen. and all because std fans were promised a big beautiful season of std??? gutted.
3. leading to point three! teasing your internet fanbase with ~thrilling and huge deaths to look forward to all season! using tumblr to answer questions about the plot holes/characters/encourage you to watch for the return of characters and not actually ever going through with it on screen. the teasing. the baiting. the flat out refusal to learn from your own viewership (when more than happy to use their gifs, use their images, their fanfics and their ideas) and then act as if the fanbase are the ungrateful ones. to try and join in with memes and tbt and a bunch of other infuriating actions that made even the actors uncomfortable. the tweets, the writers creating more drama even now, six seasons in, jeff saying “oh yeah if hoechlin had stayed on we’d have tortured derek some more with a fake julia (????? dick) haha i hope the internet doesn’t kill me for that one” as if we’re a bunch of deranged lunatics instead of just fans of a character that deserved better? like he knows what’s up. he’s a grown man. he knows they fucked up, in so many areas, and yet he’s just not willing to learn from it, or acknowledge it, he’s just always said “well if they don’t like it, they shouldn’t watch”...
i guess we didn’t.
