Gintoki: Not enough, huh? You're such a pain.

*Grabs her and pins her against the wall before kissing her again*

One thing is for sure, Gintoki definitely didn't finished Jump that day.

~GINTAMA SQUID GAMES AU ~ Chapter 2

Once again Gintoki woke up all sweaty; he had the same nightmare that had been tormenting him for years.

That damn game. That damn money. Those damn debts.

Why did the world have to revolve around money? Why every problem was created by stupid pieces of paper?

He passed a hand through his hair, wiping his forehead dripping with sweat.

"Damn it all."

He was standing motionless in his dark room, when the sound of someone knocking at the door woke him from his thoughts.

"Gin? Are you awake? I made breakfast."

He sighed, getting up from bed and scratching his neck.

"Yea I'm coming."

For a while now, Gintoki had been living with two kids; Shinpachi Shimura, for friends, Pattsan. A simple-looking boy wearing glasses and a white kimono with blue stripes; and Kagura, a young girl from another planet who is terribly greedy who wore chinese clothes, and for last; their dog Sadaharu with an excessive shape; more than a dog, he looked more like a white bear.

Gintoki never expected that the house in which he's been living all those years in the most deafening silence, would be filled with reassuring and energetic figures like those 3.

It reminds him of his first encounter with Otose, when he spent days drinking before Otose decided to take him home with her like a stray cat.

He had definitely taken this part of his character from Otose; helping people who needed to.

The first one he met was Shinpachi, who was left alone with his sister after his father’s death, and full of debts, they were forced to do some lousy jobs.

The second was Kagura, with a somewhat mysterious past since she did not tell much about her family; apart from her mother, who had already left this world.

Maybe it was a sign of fate that they met, now all 3 together managed the Yorozuya, in which they accepted any request just to survive the monthly rent.

They all sat down at the table and began to eat, sighing heavily.

"Even today we have little and nothing to eat. They paid us a misery last time."

Shinpachi sighed saying this, while Kagura’s stomach growled loudly, pouting.

"Giiin I’m still hungryyy."

"Don’t complain, we've been worse."

He knew it well, indeed very well. They hadn't received many customers lately.

"Well, if we put all the savings we should be able to make a decent dinner."

"Got it, I’ll go later."

He started making his way to the supermarket, still thinking about that morning’s nightmare.

He still vividly remembers him, the lifeless and helpless body of Shoyo that he held tight in his arms, the blood that completely surrounded the playing field; the tears that did not stop coming down.

Shinsuke’s screams shouting his hatred for Gintoki, whose words he could not even remember but only his look steeped in resentment.

He hated that memory immensely, and more than that, himself.

When Gintoki returned to Edo, his first thought was to go to the police and tell them what had happened, but no one believed him. After all, who would have believed a madman that tells of a game that kills people for money?

Yeah, no one. After that, he thought about giving it up once and for all, but when he thought of the man with the tie and sunglasses who recruited the players, his blood boiled with such immense hatred that it could destroy anything.

He had promised himself that if he ever saw the man again, he would follow him without second thought and put an end to that genocide.

He walked out of the supermarket with two bags in his hand, marching towards the train station.

"Tsk, the train won’t be here in 15 minutes."

And it was at that moment, that he heard a loud noise, as if something was pulled with force.

When he looked away, he was petrified at what he had before his eyes.

It was that man again. That damned man in a suit and tie with those sunglasses and his shitty smile while playing ddakji.

In an instant, the grocery bags fell to the ground and Gintoki ran as fast as he could down the stairs to get to the other side.

"You’re not gonna get away from me this time, you piece of shit!"
