i don't think the hp next gen fandom talks enough about how percy's kids would be treated differently just because they're his.
like, the kids don't know why. neither do their cousins. they're just used to weird looks from their aunt and uncles and grandparents. they're used to fewer photos of their father and more jokes thrown in his direction. they're used to traits they share with percy being seen as a negative.
and maybe it's subtle. maybe their presents at christmas and birthdays aren't as personalized as the presents their cousins get, and maybe they don't notice at first because their parents always try to give them presents they'll definitely love. maybe at family get-togethers, every cousin has one of their favorite sweets made but percy's kids were never asked. but they don't notice this, either, because percy makes a big deal of them baking their favorites together when they get home.
no matter the way you look at it, with percy and audrey or percy and oliver, with percy in gryffindor or slytherin, his kids would've been treated differently by their family.

Fred Weasley x Slytherin!Reader
Summary: Y/N is a year older than Fred and after not seeing him all summer Fred’s growth spurt becomes…a surprise.
Word Count: 2.2k+
Warnings: Fluff, Swearingish?
A/N: Been back on Harry Potter TikTok and there are some good POV’s so I'm writing them for you guys ;) gif isn't mine. PS. My Request are open!.
Tumblr media
You have always been close with the Weasley family. Your mom was best friends with Molly, so your summers were practically spent at the Burrow. You loved the chaos of it all—Percy with his nose in a book, Fred and George constantly trying to out-prank each other, Ginny tagging along with the boys, and Ron being the easy target of his older brothers' tricks. But it was Percy you were closest to. Only a year younger than him, you and Percy shared a unique bond. While everyone else was wild and adventurous, the two of you spent countless hours with him reading and you flying on your broom. Of course, you both loved to scheme against Fred and George whenever the opportunity arose.
When you finally got your letter to Hogwarts, you were ecstatic. Percy was already there, and you couldn’t wait to be sorted into Gryffindor and spend your school days together just like you had spent your summers. That didn’t happen, though. The Sorting Hat placed you in Slytherin. You were devastated at first, but it didn’t take long to realize that being in different houses didn’t change anything. You still spent every free moment with Percy, and more often than not, that meant time with his family as well.
That was how it had always been—until this past summer. When you were offered a spot in the exclusive quidditch camp. Though the decision wasn’t easy, Percy, being the ever-logical best friend he was, insisted you take the opportunity. "We'll always be here," he'd said. "But this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance."
And so, you went. The summer flew by in a whirlwind of practices, matches, and drills. You barely had time to write home, and when you returned to Hogwarts, it felt like you'd been gone for ages.
Percy greeted you at the train station with a tight hug, rambling on about his summer adventures. "Penelope Clearwater and I spent a lot of time together," he said with a small blush. You smiled, happy that Percy had found someone to share his time with. Then he continued, telling you all about the pranks Fred and George had pulled on Ron, and how Ginny had grown more into her own.
As the two of you walked into the Great Hall, you couldn't help but notice how different it felt coming back. Percy steered you towards the Gryffindor table where the rest of the Weasleys were sitting. Your heart lifted when you saw them—Ginny, Ron, George, Fred. They stood up to greet you, and you smiled warmly at them.
But then your gaze landed on Fred.
He turned to face you, and you froze for a moment, not believing your eyes. The Fred Weasley you had last seen before summer had changed—dramatically.
He had grown. A lot.
Fred Weasley turned toward you and stood up. The last time you'd seen him, he had been your typical gangly teenage boy, all limbs and grins. But now... well, now he was towering over your 5’3" frame. His shoulders had broadened over the summer, his face had lost its boyish roundness, and there was a new confidence about him that made your stomach flip unexpectedly.
"Y/N!" Fred grinned down at you, his voice a bit deeper than you remembered too. He enveloped you in a tight, friendly hug, the warmth of him surrounding you in a way that was strangely comforting and yet disorienting all at once.
"You’re taller," was the first thing you said when he pulled away, still looking up at him in disbelief.
Fred’s grin widened, mischief flickering in his eyes. "Noticed, did you?"
George piped up from behind him, laughing. "Fred n' I had a bit of a growth spurt, haven’t we? Over the summer, we especially him shot up like a bloody tree."
"Yeah, had a bit of a growth spurt," Fred said casually, though the amusement in his eyes suggested he was reveling in your reaction. "Quidditch does that to you."
"Quidditch?" you echoed, still staring up at him in disbelief.
"Yeah, been practicing loads this summer," Fred explained, crossing his arms over his chest. "George and I are aiming for professional teams once we’re done here."
You nodded, but your thoughts were still swirling. How had Fred changed so much in just one summer? It wasn’t just the height or the broader shoulders; there was something different about him. He seemed more... grown up.
"Y/N, you’re staring," Percy’s voice broke through your thoughts, and you turned to see him smirking at you, a knowing glint in his eyes.
Heat flooded your face. "I am not!" you protested, but Percy raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying it.
Fred laughed, the sound deep and warm, and your stomach did another unexpected flip. "It’s alright, Y/N. You can stare all you want. I don't mind."
You felt a flutter of surprise, one you hadn’t expected. This wasn’t the Fred Weasley you remembered—this was someone else entirely.
Your brain tried to catch up with the change, but it was hard to shake the image of the Fred you’d known before. The one you’d spent years pranking, teasing, and playfully bickering with. You glanced back at Percy, who just gave you a knowing smirk. "It’s been quite the adjustment," Percy said, a hint of amusement in his voice.
You turned back to Fred, and he winked at you. "Still shorter than you in spirit, though."
You found yourself laughing, but there was a nervous edge to it. What was this? Why did you suddenly feel…different around him? You’d known Fred since you were kids. You’d never felt this way before, not even a little. But now, standing in front of him, it was like someone had flipped a switch inside you.
"I suppose I’ll have to get used to looking up at you now," you said, trying to shake off the odd feeling.
Fred raised an eyebrow, his grin never faltering. "You’ll manage. If not, I’m happy to carry you around." He winked again, and this time, you felt your cheeks heat up.
Merlin, this was going to be a long year.
The rest of the day passed in a blur, but Fred's new height and presence stayed in the back of your mind. You tried to act normal—laughing with the others, catching up on everything you’d missed. But every time Fred spoke or laughed, you found yourself glancing his way, your heart giving a little lurch each time.
Later that evening, as you sat in the common room with Percy, you couldn’t help but bring it up.
"Did Fred always…well, has he always been…?"
"Tall?" Percy asked, raising an eyebrow. "Not until this summer. Why?"
You shifted uncomfortably, not sure how to explain it. "It’s just…different. He seems different."
Percy smiled knowingly. "You’re not the only one who's noticed. Ginny mentioned it too. The twins have always been a bit of prats, but now they got the looks to match."
You sighed, sinking deeper into the chair. "It’s just weird, I guess. I mean, I’ve known him forever, and now suddenly—"
"You fancy him," Percy finished, a teasing grin on his face.
Your eyes widened, and you quickly shook your head. "No, I don’t! I just…it’s weird, that’s all."
Percy chuckled. "Sure, whatever you say."
But as the days passed, you couldn’t shake the feeling. Fred’s growth spurt wasn’t the only thing that had changed. Something between you had shifted too. He was still the same mischievous, fun-loving prankster, but now, there was something else—a tension that hadn’t been there before.
You found yourself seeking him out more than usual, joining in on his and George’s pranks, laughing at his jokes just a little too hard. And Fred? Well, he didn’t seem to mind the extra attention. If anything, he seemed to enjoy it.
One evening, as you sat by the fireplace in the common room, Fred flopped down next to you, his long legs stretching out in front of him. He nudged your shoulder playfully. "You’ve been quiet today. Everything alright?"
You glanced at him, your heart doing that stupid lurching thing again. "Yeah, just…tired, I guess."
Fred raised an eyebrow. "You? Tired? Never thought I’d see the day."
You rolled your eyes, but you couldn’t help but smile. "Even I get tired sometimes."
He leaned back, resting his arm on the back of the couch behind you. "You know, if you ever need a break from Percy’s study marathons, George and I could use some help with a new prank we’re working on."
You tilted your head, curious. "What kind of prank?"
Fred’s grin turned devilish. "Oh, you’ll see. But it involves a lot of stink pellets and a certain Slytherin prefect."
You laughed, shaking your head. "You two are going to get expelled one of these days."
"Maybe," Fred said with a shrug. "But it’d be worth it."
There was a pause, and then Fred turned to you, his expression softening just a bit. "It’s good to have you back, Y/N. Summer wasn’t the same without you."
Your heart skipped a beat, and you looked down at your hands. "Yeah, it’s good to be back."
Fred nudged you again, this time more gently. "Don’t go running off to another Quidditch camp next summer, alright? We missed you."
You looked up at him, your breath catching slightly at the sincerity in his voice. "I missed you too, Fred."
And there it was—that stupid fluttery feeling again.
This was going to be a long, complicated year.
The first few weeks back at school were a blur of classes, quidditch practice, and catching up with friends. You were eager to get back into the rhythm of things, but you couldn’t shake the odd feeling that had settled in your chest since you’d seen Fred again. He was still the same Fred, still cracking jokes and pulling pranks with George, but now you found yourself noticing little things about him that you hadn’t before. The way his smile seemed to linger on you just a little longer than necessary, the way he always found a reason to sit next to you in the common room, the way your heart skipped a beat whenever his arm brushed against yours.
It was driving you crazy.
One evening, after quidditch practice, you found yourself heading back to the common room, only to be intercepted by Fred in the corridor. He grinned, blocking your path with an outstretched arm.
"Y/N, there you are," he said, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "I was beginning to think you were avoiding me."
You crossed your arms, raising an eyebrow. "Avoiding you? Why would I do that?"
Fred shrugged, leaning casually against the wall. "Dunno. Just seems like you’ve been... distracted lately. Didn’t think my growth spurt would have that much of an effect on you."
Your cheeks flamed. "I—what? That’s ridiculous, Fred. I’m not—"
He cut you off with a laugh, stepping closer. "Relax, Y/N. I’m just messing with you."
You huffed, trying to ignore the way your heart was racing in your chest. "You’re always messing with me, Weasley."
Fred’s grin softened into something that looked almost... fond. "Yeah, well, that’s what I do best, isn’t it?"
You couldn’t argue with that. Fred had always been a tease, always finding ways to get under your skin. But now, it felt different. Now, his teasing sent butterflies fluttering in your stomach, and you weren’t sure how to handle it.
"You’re acting weird," you muttered, trying to avoid his gaze.
"Weird?" Fred repeated, feigning offense. "Me? Never."
You rolled your eyes, but before you could say anything else, Fred reached out and gently tugged on a strand of your hair. "Come on, Y/N," he said, his voice lower now, more serious. "You know I’ve always liked you, right?"
Your breath caught in your throat, and you stared up at him, wide-eyed. "Liked me?" you echoed, your voice barely above a whisper.
Fred nodded, his eyes searching yours. "Yeah. I mean, you’ve always been like... one of us. Part of the family. But this summer, I don’t know... I guess I realized I like you more than just... as part of the family."
Your heart was pounding in your ears, and you felt a warmth spread through your chest. "Fred, I—"
He held up a hand, cutting you off. "You don’t have to say anything now. I just wanted you to know. But, if you want to go flying sometime... just the two of us, you know where to find me."
With that, Fred shot you one last grin, his eyes twinkling, before turning on his heel and sauntering down the corridor, leaving you standing there, stunned.
Your head was spinning, and you felt like you couldn’t breathe. Fred Weasley—Fred Weasley—had just told you he liked you. And not in the way you’d always thought, like a brother or a friend. No, this was something different, something that made your heart race and your palms sweat.
As you stood there in the empty corridor, you realized that maybe—just maybe—Fred wasn’t the only one whose feelings had changed over the summer.
Fred’s growth spurt had certainly been a surprise, but what surprised you even more was how much your own feelings had grown right alongside him. And now, as you made your way back to the common room, one thought echoed in your mind:
Maybe it was time to take Fred up on that flying offer.

harry/ginny, oneshot, canon compliant, missing moments during OotP
“So, I take it that cave in the mountains outside Hogsmeade wouldn’t work as a meeting place with Sirius?” She said, bringing them back to their conversation in the library.
Harry shook his head. “Definitely not — how did you know about that?”
“I’m really into mountain hiking,” She replied, without missing a beat.
Harry gave her a quizzical look before her face broke out into a smile, and she laughed.
“I’m joking - I've never done it,” She said, with a snort, “Hermione mentioned doing it with her family once — no, Sirius told me about it over the summer, back at Grimmauld place.”
“You and Sirius talked?”
For some reason he hadn’t even considered the fact that the Weasleys had been staying there for several weeks before Harry’s arrival. Jealousy bubbled in him momentarily, at the thought of them all spending their summer together, while he was stuck in privet drive. They had probably shared meals, swapped stories, made jokes. He vaguely remembered the youngest Weasley holding court up one end of the table on a particular evening, chatting animatedly with Remus, Tonks and Sirius. She had almost seemed like one of the crew. He just hadn't given it much thought until now.
She gave him a quizzical look, and he realised he must’ve been silent for a beat too long.
“Yeah, is that… alright with you?”
He forced out a laugh. “Yeah- erm, of course. I just didn’t think — I don’t know.”
“Well, he’s cool. Got a great muggle music collection. You’d probably know some of ‘em? There’s one band — super good called The Beatle and—”
“The Beatles.”
“What?”
Harry suppressed a smile. “Never mind.”
“They're really good. But, he mainly talks about you, you know,” She said, after a beat, “Raves about you actually.”
Harry sighed, like this was a real inconvenience.
"Oh, I am sorry," said Harry, fighting back a grin.
"I told him, I said Sirius, I haven't got all day - but the man's relentless. Wanted to know everything."
“That must’ve been terribly boring.”
“Very," She hummed, noncommittally. "You know, Harry Potter — famously boring.”
“Glad you agree.”
“Well, we can’t have everyone inflating your ego now, can we?”
Harry spluttered for a moment, before she continued.
“Not that a bit more arrogance on your part would be bad. You could be a lot worse. Look at Percy.”
“Thanks, Ginny.”
“Very welcome,” She said, breezily before clapping her hands together, “Anyway — if the cave isn’t an option, and all the fires are being guarded…”
“Well…not all of them,” Harry said, a look of realisation crossing his face.
When he looked up she was grinning widely at him, eyebrows raised. It was then that he looked around, and realised they were outside the Gryffindor common room — the trek from the library was like muscle memory to him now, and still their arrival had come as a shock to him.
The fat lady was chatting animatedly with her friend Violet from another portrait when they approached; both shrieking with laughter like a couple of hyenas, passing a bottle back and forth of some kind of mead that most certainly was not from the fat lady’s portrait. They were completely obvious to the two students stood outside.
“I’m sorry for interrupting your study session,” Ginny suddenly said, scrunching up her nose, looking rather guilty, “I know you need all the time you can get, you know, with the OWLs coming up so soon.”
His eyebrows furrowed. “Have a lot of faith in my academic ability then, do you?”
She choked out a laugh, whipping her auburn hair out of her eyes. “Not what I meant and you know it. Though if you hanging around Ron every minute of every day is any indication of your intelligence…”
“Pretty sure you spend more time with him than me,” Harry replied, looking aghast.
“Yeah — because he’s my brother - I'm stuck with him, aren't I? But you voluntarily spend every waking moment with him. I mean, think of all the brain cells you must have lost already…”
“See, that’s—”
“But there’s still time to save yourself from ruin, I reckon. Just gotta get back to the books.”
“Well, that’ll be hard, seeing as you got me banned from going back into the library ever again…”
She elbowed him hard in the side, and Harry looked up, surprised at the contact. But Ginny seemed unfazed - like this was nothing out of the ordinary.
“I think I’ll take that chocolate egg back then,” She demanded, flicking a curtain of red hair behind her.
Harry scoffed. “Pretty sure you already ate most of it—”
And that earned him his second jab in the ribs. He glanced down at his feet, suppressing a grin.
Their slight cofuffle had caught the attention of the fat lady who now, having finally noticed their presence, began to complain at their frankly insulting dawdling (‘I don’t have all day, you two!’)
They parted ways in the common room; Crookshanks trotting over to the youngest Weasley the second she had stepped through the door; Harry making his way up to the boys’ dormitories.
He fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
(Unbeknownst to Harry, it was the best sleep he had had in weeks.)

re.: the weasleys + parenting
what's always bugged me most abt percy's fight with arthur (especially in the fandom, where everyone's like 'oh, he turned his back on harry and betrayed his family to side w the ministry) is that. that's hardly what the fight is about at all. the fight is about the fact that percy, an 18yo kid who just got promoted to his dream job instead of straight up losing any chance at ever being Minister (because they tried to scapegoat him into taking the blame for the crouch business even though he managed to keep the whole department running while his boss wasn't even there), comes home all excited to tell his parents that "Hey, he's not unemployed and bereft of any and all hope for his biggest dream", but rather that his skills and competence got recognized by The Most Important Man In The Government, and molly and arthur look him straight in the face and go—"no you didn't."
there is no mention whatsoever that they even try to be gentle about it, that they congratulate him first and then bring it up later like "just be careful around Fudge, he's always looking for people to get information from and you are the best of both worlds, close to the action and actually good at the job he hired you for", nothing of the sort. they straight up don't even consider how any of those factors might've weighed in Fudge's decision to hire him.
and, perhaps worst of all, they have no faith in Percy. he tells them "I'm working for the minister", and not only do they not spare a second to be happy for him over this frankly momentous achievement (or at the very least concern for the position it puts him in), they jump straight to conjectures and accusations. "you only got this because of Harry" has got to crush Percy, who was raised to believe that good things come to honest, hard-working people and who has been working for this since he was a small child. and it digs the knife deeper when you realize that most of his siblings have basically replaced him with Harry. Harry, who also plays Quidditch and also keeps throwing himself into death-defying dangers and overalls fits much better into the family dynamic than Percy ever has.
and there's just this. crystal clear implication that they do believe Percy would spy on them. he's so Different and Other and Un-Weasley/Gryffindor-like and they've alienated themselves from him so absolutely that they can't see any reasons he wouldn't willingly and consciously jeopardize his parents' livelihood and Harry & his siblings safety just to stay in the Minister's good graces, when if anyone's actually at risk of losing their job for siding with Dumbledore is his father, who's still working there quite merrily and continues to so for a long time afterwards.
Percy, who runs into a freezing lake mid-February while attending an international event as Crouch's replacement to make sure Ron is alright, who pesters Ginny to eat and have a pepper-up potion most of her first year bc she doesnt look well, who tails Harry and Ron a lot of their second and third years bc there's something petrifying kids and then Dementors on the grounds and a mass murderer on the loose and they all just think he's being willfully bothersome like no you idiots he's worried.
of course he left. of course he left. what did he have to gain by staying at the Burrow, beyond fresh home cooked meals harassment and disagreements? why wouldn't he leave?
sorry I have a lot of feelings about this.
No need to apologize, this is brilliantly written!
I don't even feel like I need to add anything as you summed up the Percy situation perfectly.
But I can't help myself because I love discussing the Weasley family dynamics, so it's a bit more rumbley than my usual...
Percy cares so much for his family. When Voldemort is revealed and the war actually starts, he puts all his disagreements with his parents aside to come and help and make sure they're okay, because he cares. And still, he is being shunned and treated like an outsider.
Arthur and Molly Weasley are just really good at alienating their kids because it isn't just Percy.
Somehow all of them succeded in feeling like outsiders in a family of 9. Bill shows frustration with his parents and only returns to Britain because of the war, Charlie's in Romania for most of the series. Fred and George run away the moment they can and are treated like trouble by their parents most of the time (Molly and Arthur assume they are selling stolen goods from Mundungus when they hear they have money, not that they, idk, somehow earned it), Ron has a whole complex of low self-esteem and a tendency to blame himself for everything. Ginny is isolated from her brothers as the only girl and youngest...
And Percy cares and tries to be the best and most responsible sibling and gets scorned in turn.
Harry and Ron do acknowledge Arthur's and Molly's accusation towards Percy was awful and that he was right to respond negatively in OOTP. Ron is just sensitive about their family's financial state which soured Percy to him after Percy blew up at their dad (rightfully so, honestly, I'd say way worse to Arthur if it was me).
The thing is, Percy also gets scorned by his siblings, not just his parents (like Fred and George do). He gets grief for trying to be responsible and for wanting his siblings to do well in school and not get in trouble, Fred and George lock him in a pyramid...
That being said, do I think Percy is perfect? No, he is pretentious and overbearing at times, but he is a child in a large family who tries to find a place to fit himself in. According to child psychology, usually when it comes to siblings, the eldest would usually (at least in childhood) try to be everything the parents want (Bill), and then each next sibling will carve a different niche for themselves, and we see this with the Weasleys. I think the twins being born right after Percy and demanding a lot of attention from their parents from a young age as they were little troublemakers from the start is a big reason why Percy chose the niche of being bookish, ambitious, and responsible for himself. To contrast himself with them and his older brothers and get some attention from their parents.
I'm not a fan of the epilog (like everyone), but I find it hard to imagine Percy being close to his family post-books. I think he never fully got over the sting of not being seen as skilled and competent and that his parents believed he'd turn on them all without a second thought. Nor do I think he should just get over it.
Like, I'm really salty that Percy was the only one to apologize:
“I was a fool!” Percy roared, so loudly that Lupin nearly dropped his photograph. “I was an idiot, I was a pompous prat, I was a—a—” “Ministry-loving, family-disowning, power-hungry moron.” said Fred. Percy swallowed. “Yes, I was!” “Well, you can’t say fairer that that,” said Fred, holding out his hand to Percy. Mrs. Weasley burst into tears. She ran forward, pushed Fred aside, and pulled Percy into a strangling hug, while he patted her on the back, his eyes on his father. “I’m sorry, Dad.” Percy said.
(Deathly Hollows, pages 512-513)
Like, yes, it's great he was smart enough to realize the ministry is corrupt, but this demand only for him to apologize when Molly and Arthur Weasley were just as much in the wrong. Fred and George weren't beacons of sainthood here either. But none of them have apologies demanded of them. None of them are demanded to confess they are "morons". Just Percy.
Who even after his apology is still an outsider. Probably always will be one.
You said it best: "Why wouldn't he leave?"
And that's what we see him do (if temporarily).

Being A Weasley Would Include...
Tumblr media
You're probably sorted into Gryffindor. Sorry if that's not your house, but the sorting hat doesn't seem to separate families even if they really should be in different houses (I could rant for hours on how Ron is a Hufflepuff and Percy is a Ravenclaw, don't even get me STARTED)
Even if you're not in Gryffindor though, Arthur and Molly would love you just the same <3
You'd share a room with Ginny of course!
And you'd be super close, sharing a room and being the only sisters
Molly hand makes a lot of your clothes and blankets, so they're super cute, warm and cozy, and made with a lot of love <3
Her home cooking is fantastic as well!
Your brothers are all very protective of you, even if you're fully capable of hexing someone for yourself.
Ginny looks up to you so much, you're her personal hero
Arthur is such a fun dad! He barely ever gets cross with you, and he has so many cool trinkets!
He also taught you how to play quidditch <3
For the holidays, Molly sends you cookies, candies, and jumpers she home makes <3
You'd grow up playing quidditch with your brothers (and Ginny of course) so of course you make the house team!
Backyard quidditch in the summer
Also exploring the marshy woodsy areas with your brothers
SUMMERS AT THE BURROW.
School shopping in diagon alley with your whole family can be chaotic, but you all get everything you need and it's kinda fun with Harry and Hermione there
Speaking of, Harry is there just about every summer. Get used to him!
The two of you are probably very close friends (Harry is a girl's girl fr, he's so good to Hermione and Luna, 10/10 friend)
You're also super close with Hermione! It's always so fun when she comes to stay with you guys <3
Fred and George are total menaces and nobody is safe from their antics, not even their precious baby sister.
You have so many stories about your brothers and sister, you never run out of things to talk about
A LOT of inside jokes with Ron. Being the closest in age, you two basically have your own language of inside jokes and references.
Getting to go on cool trips to visit Charlie and seeing so many cool dragons!!!
Spending weekends at the cottage with Bill and Fleur to get away from Fred and George from time to time lmao (and they absolutely adore having you over, Fleur loves you)
You probably bicker with Percy because he's a git </3 (but he still really loves you and will protect you at all costs)
During the Battle of Hogwarts, you fight side by side with your family. They're absolutely not letting you out of their sight, ever
You're part of the most cozy, loving family of all time <3
Let me know if you want a part two! I love the Weasleys <333

Ginniversary drabble 11
Prompt: N31 - When in doubt go to the library
AO3 or read below:
Her footsteps echoed obnoxiously loudly in the silent, battle-scarred corridors. Ginny's gaze caught on the crumbled piles of stone; the scorch marks that lined the walls from misaimed spells; the pool of blood, thick and congealing, beside the staircase.
She kept walking.
Moving, unseeingly, between the hospital wing, Professor McGonagall's office, the various common rooms people were using as living quarters. Anywhere anyone deigned to send her.
The great hall was half-full. She found her father at the Gryffindor table, Bill sitting to his right, and Ron and Hermione directly across from him.
She held the scroll she'd been sent to deliver out wordlessly.
“Where have you been?” Dad asked as he took it from her.
“Everywhere.”
His brow furrowed in concern. “When did you sleep last?”
Ginny shrugged. She had no idea. She couldn't really say how many hours, or possibly days, had passed since Tom Riddle's body had hit the floor mere feet away from her with a definitive thud.
“You look exhausted,” Bill said.
She didn't feel anything.
“Maybe you should go to bed,” Ron suggested. His voice was familiar, and yet completely alien to her. “Mum's in the common room with Percy and Charlie… and George.”
And not Fred.
The thought pierced the stupefied haze she'd been carefully cultivating with her ceaseless movement as sharply as a dagger.
“I have to take this to Kingsley,” Ginny said breathlessly, holding up the second scroll McGonagall had given her.
She turned on her heel, prepared to flee the anxious looks on her family's faces, and lose herself to the task at hand.
Slender fingers curled around her wrist, halting her escape.
Ginny paused. When she turned again it was to find Hermione staring at her apologetically. She released Ginny's wrist, instead filling her hands with a thick book that had been resting on the table next to a milk jug.
“Can you take this to the library for me, please?”
“Is that really urgent right now–” one sharp glare from Hermione and Ron's mouth snapped shut.
Ginny took the book from her, accepting the task with a silent nod.
She left the great hall, passed the precious gems spilled across the floor of the entrance hall, dodged the holes that had been blown in the staircases; sped through the oppressively silent corridors.
The library was untouched.
Madame Pince's desk still stood, neatly ordered, feet from the door. The shelves were all perfectly aligned, systematically arranged in the way Ginny had always known them to be. The tables were utterly devoid of the scraps of parchment and broken quills that would usually gather upon them over the course of a day.
She'd planned on leaving the book on the desk, but something beckoned Ginny further into the library's depths. Her footsteps echoed in here too, but the sound didn't grate against her nerves like it had outside.
Absently, she placed the book on one of the empty tables and continued down the shadowy aisles formed by the tall stacks. Her fingertip ran smoothly over the leather-bound spines of the nearest shelf. She was halfway down it when she stopped abruptly, her back met the shelf, and Ginny slid to the floor, legs finally giving up.
Her head fell back against the books, she wondered idly if she might be able to absorb the vital answers she so sorely lacked just by being surrounded by such a wealth of information. She knew she wouldn't. There were no answers to the things that plagued Ginny. Her eyelids drooped closed and even the overwhelming strength of her grief struggled against the depths of her fatigue.
She remained there for an unknowable amount of time, suspended in a stupor of exhaustion. The ruined world outside seemed distant enough in here that she could stop and breathe.
Until footsteps sounded from the next aisle along. Ginny's eyes snapped open as they came closer.
She didn't need to turn her head towards the end of the aisle to know who approached; she did it anyway.
Harry looked only marginally better than she felt. A tapestry of cuts and bruises wove over the exposed parts of his skin; dark circles shadowed beneath his eyes, and his shoulders sagged as though he was still carrying the weight of the world upon them.
“Sorry,” he said; for a moment, the word hung in the air between them, too small to contain the multitude of meanings it was meant to convey, and then Harry regained his voice, “I was just returning a book for Hermione – I thought I'd take a walk around… I don't know why, it's just –”
“The silence feels right in here.”
Relief washed over Harry's face; whether it was simply caused by Ginny speaking, or because, even now, they were still on the same page, she couldn't be sure.
“Do you want to sit?” She asked.
“I should go,” Harry said at the same time.
Their eyes met. A lifetime ago, one of them would’ve told a joke. The thought turned Ginny's stomach.
Harry closed the space between them. “I can stay.” It was a simple statement; it stole what little breath remained to her. He slid down the shelf until he was sitting beside Ginny on the library floor.
He was so close. She could feel heat radiating from him. Her fingertips seemed to be hyper aware of his, resting inches away on the floorboards.
“I'm so tired,” she said without really meaning to. Her head fell heavily against his shoulder just as easily.
Harry's head instantly came to rest on top of hers. “Me too,” he said wearily.

I don’t really like putting all of the Weasley’s in Gryffindor. I was thinking, Percy and Ravenclaw, obviously, and maybe Ginny in slytherin? I don’t know. I could see Charlie in Gryffindor, but he also gives Hufflepuff vibes from what I’ve read of him. (I have not read the books.)
I’d like to know your thoughts do you agree with these? Do you disagree? Do you have any additional ones? Or do you just prefer all of them in Gryffindor?
Nah nah I totally agree on this.
I think with how the story is that there was a feeling of expectation for them to all be in a house, like how the Weasleys went crazy when Ron became a HeadBoy, and needing to give insight to the reader the Weasley’s morals and personality’s.
Especially since there are so many Weasleys to keep track of, and we don’t really interact with much. Like Charlie being cut out of the film entirely, and the fact Bill was introduced was soon as year 4 and that’s when he met Fleur like ugh
So I guess here are some little headcanons about possible alternative houses for the Weasleys
Alternative Houses For The Weasley Siblings
Bill Weasley/Ravenclaw
Tumblr media
From what we have learned from Hogwarts Mystery ((which I’m trying to play through but fuck the game play sucks. FOR THE WEASLEYS!)) We learned that he pretty much was taken into Gringotts as soon as he finished school
THATS NOT EASY!
Gringotts is the best and safest bank in the world for a reason. They take in ONLY THE BEST. But over here we have a 17-18 year old working there.
Much like with Luna for her open mindedness for knowledge and her special interests for magical animals Bill shows that with Cursebreaking
Ravenclaws are special for being utterly brilliant for the special interest they have. Bill has a clear passion for history and Cursebreaking. Enough to show he was worthy to work at Gringotts
He clearly is very brilliant, open minded, curious, quick witted, and has so many quirks that show Ravenclaw would have supported him perfectly
To be a curse breaker you really need to be passionate to learn more and more. It’s a ever changing career that will introduce new things, and you need to think outside of the box to handle
There is also the fact you’ll need to know a shit Tom of History to handle a job like that. And we all know every gay kid had a phase of either Egyptian History or Greek History (ha jokes on you mines Norse! But uh. Yeah I also dabbled in Greek and Egyptian rip-!) And will you look at that he was stationed in Egypt for a while
Very Ravenclaw
Charlie Weasley/Hufflepuff
Tumblr media
We don’t really get much info on him ((also forgive me I haven’t been able to play through much of Mystery because the gameplay just. Sucks so bad)) But we know for a fact he is passionate as hell about Dragons
On one hand that could mean he’s a Ravenclaw, but I argue Hufflepuff.
He is part of a Dragon Sanctuary after all. He takes care of dragons, new born dragons, and helps run it. He clearly has the passion and nerve to make sure he has what it takes to care for such dangerous beasts
Very much a Newt 2.0
You need to be patient, hard working, open minded, well rounded, and as loyal as a dragon to handle such a job like that
He even went as far as to come save Norbert(a) by the drop of the hat from Ron. Clearly a sign of loyalty and compassion to do whatever it took to take care of dragons. We even know that from how Norbert(a) is still alive and well by the time of Deathly Hallows
You really need to have a strong heart to have the time and energy to care for baby dragons and the loyalty to jump at the sound of Ron asking for help. To pull off this insane heist to practically break into Hogwarts to collect the baby
So Hufflepuff coded
Percy Weasley/Slytherin
Tumblr media
This almost feels self explanatory
Percy is extremely ambitious about his goals. His goals are at the forefront and he is willing to push whatever buttons he needs to reach them. Which, as shown, put quite the divide with his family. A sub plot point really we are shown through out the books
Also he kinda has pure blood society standards a little bit don’t lie
He also has quite the perfectionist attitude, rather intense, and just really has a heavy focus on self image. To be seen a certain way by people. Much to the expense of his family
He really radiates the toxic traits that Slytherin have. Slytherin have good traits, just as much as Hufflepuff’s will have bad, so don’t worry about me type casting here.
Just take a moment to think it over and well…..
Percy really is a Slytherin
Fred And George Weasley/Slytherin
Tumblr media
Now the twins show plenty of Slytherin traits as well, but in a different way compared to Percy
They also are very determined to reach their goals. To the point they took a hella massive risk with leaving school before they could finish. They took a calculated risk and won
They are very ambitious, and if they have a goal they’ll find a way to reach it. Very much how they are so successful. They don’t let the haters keep them down. Even with how unsupported their own mother was they knew they could do it
They also have that edge all the same. They know how to pull that charm to get what they want, and aren’t scared to get their hands dirty.
And we know there’s lots of dirt on those hands
Very much able to win over crowds with ease, and are very aware of how they can use what they have to reach their end goals
They have that edge and we know they would be unstoppable if they had Slytherin’s under their wings
Very much Slytherins
Ron Weasley/ Gryffindor
Tumblr media
Nah Ron is as true to a Gryffindor as they come
Even as early as his first year he got it proven quickly
He’s very bold, blunt, and brave. Willing to stand his ground. Sometimes even when he’s wrong, but hey he’s willing to speak his mind and not be afraid of what he has to say. Not willing to be swayed to easily
Sure he can have rather low self confidence but the moment someone like Hermione, Harry, or his family members are insulted or done wrong he’s jumping out of his chair and throwing hands
He’s willing to face the unthinkable for the sake of others. Aka when Bellatrix was torturing Hermione. He loved her entirely and his brave heart was willing to face insanity for her sake
If he’s gonna die it’s gonna be standing. Never on his knees. Time and time again he was facing his fears head on when he hated it. He was willing to follow those spiders despite how crippling his fear was. To face death even as young as eleven because his moral code said it had to be done
He is a TRUE Gryffindor
Ginny Weasley/ Gryffindor or Hufflepuff
Tumblr media
Honestly? This is a toss up. She shows very strong elements from both. So this could very well be a case of her being in Gryffindor for more so to follow her siblings but not have it really affect the end goal
She shows very strong traits for both so it’s really hard for me to really give a concrete yes or no to which house
She’s very much a brave girl, living in the moment, stubborn as all hell, and will stand her ground
She also has shown she can be rather caring and comforting. Such as in the deathly hallows when students had to take refuge in the Room Of Requirments. We don’t get much on that aspect specifically but to help take care of her fellow frightened students had to involve a lot of patience and gentleness.
She also has a strong friendship with Luna. Best friends really. Something like that leads me to think she would be very open minded then and well rounded to be able to look through such a different lens compared to her own
It’s really a tight toss up. She can fit in either house very well
So if I had to be held at gun point she would be in Gryffindor for the sake of family more so than actual house choosing
Tumblr media
Hope my little headcanons could be enjoyed and open your own minds to different ideas!

happy birthday ginny, here's a fic with you and both of your dark-haired orphan simps.
Nerve
When she was five, Auntie Muriel had given her as a birthday present a small china figurine of a cow.
And, since she was five, and all she wanted to do was ride brooms and fall out of trees and throw gnomes at Percy, she had laughed derisively the second she opened the gift and called it ‘a bit rubbish’.
Mum had been furious, and the telling-off Ginny had received - as Muriel stormed out of the house with her nose in the air, ‘Weasley children are ungrateful whelps, the lot of them’ ringing around the Burrow - had managed to impress upon her an important lesson: no matter how shit a present is, pretend you like it.
---
- and Percy got a brand new owl when he was made a prefect, and that happened the day before I turned ten, but I didn’t get anything new that day, it was all second hand. Except my Auntie Muriel gave me a box of drawing pins. But who wants a thing like that?
That sounds ghastly.
It was! Obviously I wasn’t rude. I just -
I know it sounds really silly, but I just want my own things. I want to be special. I want everyone to notice me. Nobody notices me.
That doesn’t sound silly at all.
You’re sweet :)
---
The lesson had held for ten years. It was fracturing today, as she turned fifteen and unwrapped Fleur’s gift to her - presented with a beatific, ‘I ‘ope you will like ‘ow it stops you being so - ‘ow you say - disorganised’ - and saw the embossed scarlet leather cover, her initials on it in gold, of an extremely beautiful and obviously stupendously expensive diary.
‘Oh,’ said Ginny.
Fleur seemed happy enough with that, leaning into Bill’s arm - wrapped around her shoulders - with a contented (read: smug) look on her face. Harry and Ron were both shovelling birthday cake into their mouths, but Hermione was looking at her with the sort of stricken, wobbly expression which made Ginny nervous.
‘Cheers. It’s great,’ she said to Fleur, in an effort to communicate to Hermione that she needed to keep fucking quiet and not bring up my previous diary-related fuck-ups at the dinner table. Fortunately she got the hint, although Ginny knew there’d be plenty of whispered nagging about whether she’d ‘properly dealt with everything’ later.
But she couldn’t help staring at Bill, as if to say, ‘thanks for not spilling my most embarrassing secret during your pillow talk’ and ‘hey, you know how there’s a war on? Maybe you should tell your fiancée that your sister was fucking possessed by You-Know-Who for a full year, so she knows exactly what sort of mess she’s getting into.’
He just looked at his cake instead.
---
- and I told mum I didn’t want a victoria sponge cake. But she made one anyway, because it’s dad’s favourite. But it was my birthday. I wanted a chocolate cake.
Does that make me sound really spoiled?
It does, doesn’t it?
What kind of birthday cakes did you have, when you were my age?
I have never had a birthday cake.
WHAT?
How???
I was born in an orphanage. That’s a Muggle institution for children whose parents are dead. There was hardly enough to go around normally. Birthdays were out of the question.
Oh.
I’m sorry.
I survived.
Harry’s an orphan as well.
Is he indeed?
---
‘I’m so sorry,’ said Hermione later, bustling around Ginny’s room brandishing a hairbrush like a wand. ‘The nerve of her! She had no right to do something like that.’
‘She didn’t know.’
‘But Bill should have told her.’
‘Yeah. Maybe.’
Hermione sat on the end of Ginny’s bed and looked at her earnestly. ‘You can say if you’re upset, you know.’
‘It’s fine.’
‘I mean, I’ve never thought you’ve ever properly dealt with everything, and I -’
‘I said it’s fine, Hermione. For fuck’s sake, give it a rest.’
---
Hermione was still in a mood the following morning.
The diary sat on Ginny’s bedside table, the cover shimmering softly at her.
‘I suppose the colour was meant to be nice - Gryffindor, you know - but it’s just ended up being another cruelty,’ sniffed Hermione, when she’d decided she was no longer angry with Ginny and she ought to have another go at nagging her about her life.
‘What d’you mean?’ said Ginny, round a mouthful of chocolate frog.
Hermione looked at her as if she was as dumb as Goyle. (Ginny could see why quite a few people didn’t like her). ‘Well, it’s like his eyes. Isn’t it?’
She looked so convinced she was onto something that Ginny didn’t have the heart to tell her that her him had eyes the same polished tortoiseshell brown as Hermione’s own.
---
I could make him a valentine’s card, couldn’t I?
You could.
I could say he has nice eyes. He does have nice eyes.
So you’ve said.
They’re very green. I could say that. ‘You have very green eyes.’
That’s not very romantic, is it?
I could say, ‘you have eyes so green they’re like…’
I dunno.
A fresh pickled toad.
Or an emerald.
Pick the emerald.
I like the toad.
Pick the emerald.
They aren’t emerald green, though. They’re fresh pickled toad green.
I just think -
I’m going to say that his eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad.
Or do you think he’d hate that?
I think you should say his eyes are like emeralds.
He will hate it, won’t he?
Would it matter if he did?
YES.
Picture me rolling my eyes.
Tom. I’d DIE.
Imagine if he laughed at it.
And if he didn’t?
That isn’t possible.
Ginny.
Anything is possible if you’ve got enough nerve.
---
She dropped a blob of ink onto the page and waited for the inevitable.
She realised she had been staring at it for hours when mum called her down for dinner.
---
She could never have explained to the other three why nothing happening was as much of a disappointment as a relief.
They were bound together so tightly you’d have thought they were one-and-the-same. It didn’t seem to occur to them that their friendship was abnormal. Or, maybe, that hers were. That, maybe, it isn’t normal for a fifteen-year-old to not see her boyfriend all summer, or not to have friends visit, or not to Floo off for house-parties and trips to Diagon Alley. That, maybe, her position in a clique of ‘popular’ girls was tenuous, something light and meaningless and easily discarded.
That, maybe, the best friend she’d ever had was a piece of disembodied soul which had very nearly succeeded in killing her.
---
I don’t think anyone understands me like you.
You’re my best friend in the whole world :)
I’m delighted to hear that. The feeling is mutual.
Now. I need you to do me a favour.
Anything :)
You will walk down to the gamekeeper’s hut.
I will walk down to the gamekeeper’s hut.
---
‘I don’t think Harry will get back together with Cho,’ said Hermione one evening.
Ginny snorted. ‘Yeah, obviously. He fucked that right up.’
‘Dean’s nice.’
Ginny tried to ignore the jittery feeling in her stomach. ‘Yeah. Yeah, he’s brill.’
Fortunately Hermione was already yawning into her pillow. ‘Did you have a nice birthday, by the way?’
‘Yeah.’
There was a brightly-coloured bang from outside.
Hermione jumped up, brandishing her wand. ‘What on earth was that?’
---
I wish I was with mum and dad for Christmas. On New Year’s Eve we always have hot chocolate and watch the fireworks from the village. You can see them really well from our garden.
I spent all evening crying. And now I can’t sleep.
Are you awake?
Is it New Year’s Eve today?
Yes.
Ah.
It doesn’t feel very festive though.
Go to the North Tower, and - just before the Divination classroom - you will see a painting of three house elves wearing a trench coat. Poke the middle one on the nose and the painting will swing open to reveal a window. Climb through the window and you will find yourself on a flat bit of roof, with an uninterrupted view towards Hogsmeade. At midnight, there will be fireworks to celebrate the new year.
But there will be nobody else around, and they will feel as though they are for you.
---
‘Relax, Hermione. It’s just someone letting off fireworks.’
‘God. I thought it was the Dark Mark or something. Honestly, who lets off fireworks in the middle of August?’
‘You never know. Maybe they’re for me.’

Shell Cottage
Title: Shell Cottage
Author: adenei
Trope: Only One Bed
Summary: What if Shell Cottage wasn’t Bill and Fleur’s home/safehouse during the war…because there was no Voldemort? What if the Weasley kids used it for something else entirely? A something that was bestowed upon each Weasley kid before they entered their seventh year. And what if Ron used that something to his advantage, finally giving him a shot at getting together with Hermione?
WC: 7,738 (in 3 parts. part 1 here)
TW: alcohol use, frivolity, bed sharing.
**********
Part 1
It’s an unusually warm summer day in Ottery St. Catchpole, and Ron welcomes the sun shining down on his face as he ventures outside. Summer’s always been his favorite season. When he was younger it was because his siblings would all be home from Hogwarts, so he had lots of options for playmates. And when he’d started school, it meant a nice long break from never-ending assignments and exams throughout the year.
This summer is different, though. It’s officially his last as a student, which means it could be the final time he’ll have minimal responsibilities before he’s expected to pursue a career—and it’s coming to an end far too quickly. In two short weeks, he’ll be entering his seventh and final year of Hogwarts, and then this time next year? Well, who knows exactly what his future holds.
Ron walks out to the garden, summoned by his brothers for a pick-up game of Quidditch, but no one’s there yet. It’s a rare afternoon when everyone stopped by to visit and hang out, much to Mrs. Weasley’s delight. They rarely spent time together aside from Sunday dinner, so the impromptu visit sent their mum into a tizzy.
They made some excuse about wanting to help Ron and Ginny train for tryouts in a few weeks, but Ron thinks they all secretly miss flying. Nevertheless, it still struck him as peculiar when he couldn’t see anyone around. Especially considering Fred and George already had their brooms when Bill asked him to come play. He figured they’d be flying around warming up already.
  Weird.
Nevertheless, Ron keeps his pace toward the broomshed. Even if it’s all some stupid prank, he figures he can still charm some Quaffles and get a little solo practice in at the very least. It doesn’t matter that he’s held the Gryffindor Keeper position for two years now, he still wants to earn it.
Not that Harry would give it to anyone else, unless they totally outperformed him. But every season, every match, he’s gained more confidence and honed his skills. It’s not like he plans on going pro or anything, but still, he wants to maintain his position on the team.
Finally reaching the broomshed, he opens the door to retrieve his Cleansweep, but is met instead with a pair of arms pulling him into the small space.
  “What the—”
“It’s about time, Ronniekins,” Fred chides.
George shuts the door behind him and casts some sort of silencing charm on it. “Yeah, can’t say this is where I’d prefer to spend my afternoon waiting for you.”
“So why are you in here and not outside?” Ron asks, completely bewildered. “I thought we were going to play Quidditch?”
“We are, but we have to talk to you first.” Impatience lingers in Fred’s tone before Bill clears his throat.
  “It’s a…private matter.”
“Oh, fucking hell, not the sex talk again,” Ron groans.
George grins. “We can if you—”
  “No.”
“Suit yourself.” Fred shrugs. “I happen to think we did a stellar job with our brotherly duty.”
George nudges Bill. “Even provided Percy’s diagrams and everything.”
Bill sniggers. “Did you really? Well, as much as I’d love to continue that conversation, we probably don’t have much time before Ginny comes outside and catches us in here.” Ron folds his arms as he waits for his oldest brother to continue.  “So, you’re about to start your seventh year in a couple weeks—”
“Really? I had no idea.” Ron can’t help the quip, but he hates when people state the obvious.
“Easy now, Ronniekins. As much as we love a good tradition, we don’t have to share this with you if you want to be all testy,” Fred warns.
“Anyway.” Bill regains everyone’s attention. “As Fred so eloquently stated, we have a bit of a tradition that I started and has since been passed down to everyone.”
  “Even Percy,” George interjects.
“Though I don’t think he threw much of a rager,” Fred shakes his head in disappointment.
Bill chuckles. “No. I’m pretty sure he used the weekend for himself and Penelope and—”
  “No!” gasps Fred.
A shit-eating grin plasters George’s face. “Did they—is that when he—no wonder he was such a bloody tosser all year!”
“Acting even more pretentious than usual,” Fred continues.
  “All because he got—
“Alright, alright. Percy’ll kill me if he finds out I told you so keep that to yourselves, yeah?”
“Oh, come on, Bill. You’d crush him in a duel. He’s got nothing on you,” Fred ignores the point.
Ron doesn’t realize until after the exchange that his eyes have widened at the information, and while he may have been annoyed before, he’s much more interested in what Bill has to say now.
“So, are you going to tell me or…”
Instead of answering right away, Bill digs into his pocket before brandishing a key.
“What’s that to?” Ron presses again, and all three of his brothers grin widely.
  “Shell Cottage.”
Shell Cottage. Where’s he heard that name before? He has to delve deep into his mind for any sort of recollection, and then it suddenly hits him.
“Aunt Muriel’s summer home? But how do you—”
“Dad used to check the place regularly when Muriel wasn’t staying there. But she stopped using it as her summer home years ago—just before my seventh year to be exact—and I’ve been in charge of making sure the place is alright ever since. ”
“Okay…so, what? Did you borrow the place for a weekend?”
Bill’s face falls slightly at Ron’s question and the twins stifle a groan. “Wow, Ron, way to ruin it.” George scolds.
  “I wasn’t trying to!” he defends. “It’s just—it was obvious…”
Bill doesn’t seem phased, though, as he continues. “Well, yeah. And since then, I’ve passed the key on to Charlie, Percy, and the twins a couple weeks before their seventh year starts at Hogwarts too. Now it’s your turn.”
“Brilliant!” Ron reaches his hand out to take the key, but then hesitates. His eyes narrow slightly as he peers between his brothers. “What’s the catch?”
“No catch,” Bill reassures. “You can have the place for the weekend. Just make sure it’s cleaned up before you leave. And I don’t care who you invite as long as you’ve got a good alibi.”
“Right. Yeah.” Ron takes the key when Bill thrusts it toward him.
The wheels begin to turn, formulating a plan in his mind. Obviously, he wants to invite his dorm-mates. They could hang out on the beach and he knows Seamus would be able to hook them up with Firewhiskey. It could be the ultimate guys weekend. Kind of like the ones they used to have when they were younger before Seamus started chasing girls and he and Harry got wrapped up with Quidditch.
But then he thinks about how Percy supposedly took advantage of the space and—well, if he’s being honest with himself, he’d love to find a way to hang out with Hermione one-on-one. Maybe it would be the kick in the pants he needs to finally take the plunge and ask her out.
Who says you can’t do both?
Both…now there’s an idea. But before he can ruminate on it anymore, Fred interrupts his thoughts.
“Great, now if we’re all set here, let’s get out of this steambox.” He pushes past Ron to open the door.
George follows. “I’ll go find Gin so she doesn’t try to hex our bollocks off for leaving her out.”
  Dammit. Ginny.
She’s going to be so pissed if he leaves her out, but as is the tradition, Ron isn’t sure he should tell her. Besides, is it so wrong to have a weekend for just him and his friends without her? Harry’ll understand too, right?
Eh, whatever. He’ll figure it out later. For now, he’ll enjoy an afternoon of Quidditch just like the old times, and later, when Harry comes for dinner, he’ll figure out exactly what his weekend with the key to Shell Cottage will hold.

Does anyone else have the feeling that the Weasley siblings' ages were supposed to be completely different in the beginning? I saw that a lot of people have already discussed this, so I'd like to contribute my share here as well. So in the first part, Harry hears from Fred and George about their brother Charlie and how good he was as a seeker and that SINCE HIS Gryffindor hadn't won... which was just all summer. Charlie left school in 1991 and Harry started school the same year, need we say more? Plus, Charlie and Bill both had pretty serious jobs, I've always had the feeling they wouldn't get them right after Hogwarts (even if they were both very talented). Additionally, it would explain why Percy took on the role of "big brother" so much to his younger siblings. As for Percy and his dorm roommate Oliver, I believe that when they were at school Charlie would have to be in his senior year. Then it would explain why Wood was so fascinated by his playing, he literally saw it as a kid and it stuck in his mind. As for the rest of the siblings age seems to be ok except for Ginny. Didn't you get the feeling that ginny begging and waving her tiny hand was a little younger than 10 years old? Me so, that's why I think the age of the Weasley siblings would be rather:
Bill +-20 y.o Charlie 18yo (last year) Percy 11yo (first year) F&G 9 y.o Ron 7 yo Ginny +-2 y.o
We run into problems here. If Bill gets too much older, his first year at Hogwarts will be in his final year at Marauders, and if Molly and Arthur had stayed their age, they would have been teenagers and parents while still in school. On the one hand, it's a bit hard and on the other, it gives the opportunity to develop the story. Bill could have already had a partner before meeting Fleur so they wouldn't have gotten married. AND Harry wouldn't be in a relationship with Ginny, she would be too young for him. And here comes an interesting thing, I don't know if you know but jkr supposedly wanted Hermione to have a younger sister. What if she had it? And if she was a year younger? And if, for example, she went to Ravenclaw in the same year as Luna? Maybe she would have a crush on Harry? That sounds like a good gateway to an interesting new/old story.

tastastastassss please would you share some percy weasley headcanons or thoughts about him in general
(just remembered he and oliver wood were in the same year and thus dorm... and percy gives me Massive twink energy, like a less dramatic francis abernathy)
HI YES i will indeed do this
so yeah in canon percy and oliver shared a dorm but in my mind there is no way percy weasley isn't in slytherin so my percy shares a dorm w marcus flint instead. anyways here are some headcanons
he's very bisexual and yes definitely a twink
he's also tall. probably one of if not the tallest guys in his year
good poker face but this man is a huge simp. for christmas, valentine's day, oliver's birthday, etc. he always panics on what to buy and gets oliver like 40 things including like 8 bouquets of flowers lol
penelope clearwater and marcus flint are his best friends other than oliver !! these four are chaotic. marauders vibes but they don't get caught
definitely a bit of a drama queen, but he hates when people (marcus) point it out b/c he does not see himself that way.
studies too hard for his own good and still has time for quidditch somehow (he's only playing to beat fred and george. he's a chaser btw)
actually very sensitive. like he will be stoic until something inconveniences him and then he will SOB
hates himself a little bit (sometimes a lot) because he's so different from his family
insecure about his freckles
takes younger slytherin students (like draco malfoy) under his wing because he knows what it's like to be part of the house everybody hates
fully despises dumbledore
always the first to notice when something's wrong (quirrell being sus, something being wrong with "moody"/crouch sr, etc) but alwasy the last person adults listen to
has been best friends with ginny since she was a little kid
does more for his siblings than they realize. cares about them so much, and his heart breaks every time they choose to fight with him or tease him instead of seeing how fucked up it is that he was shunned for being different

becomes head of the dmle
starts a petition after the war to get the atrium statue at the ministry - which shows a bunch of non-wizard creatures looking up to wizards like they're the superior beings - taken down. he does not shut up about this project until the statue is replaced, he hates it so much

April 13: Think
Day 13 of @hinnymicrofic
He’s in Potions, and Malfoy looks wan and pale.
What the fuck is he doing? And why won’t anyone believe me? Look at him, the git, he’s not even trying to finish this potion. He’s fucking up to something, I know it. But what? What job would Voldemort have given a cowardly git like him? And why would it require fixing something? Go over it again, what was in Borgin & Burkes that he could’ve wanted fixed… there was the necklace…
It’s Christmas. The Minister has left with Percy, and he’s sitting in the garden by himself, watching a gnome.
The bollocks to ask me to be a Ministry poster boy. After Umbridge? Yeah fucking right. Scrimgeour can stick his wand up his arse. When will these idiots do anything that isn’t serving themselves? That was bloody low, too, bringing Percy round here. Mrs. Weasley is still crying. Well, that’s another Christmas ruined because of me. At least no one’s in the hospital this time… a pitiful bar for Christmas, eh? What was that song Sirius sang last year? Something about hippogriffs… did he make that song up? I should’ve asked. I should’ve…
He’s sitting in the Common Room staring broodingly into the fire long after Ron and Hermione have gone up to bed.
Horcruxes. Horcruxes. The ring, the locket, the diary, something of Gryffindor’s, something of Ravenclaw’s, maybe the snake… what else? Neither can live while the other survives… more than likely, it’ll be me that goes. I wonder if the Dursleys will go to the funeral. Ha. Or maybe it’ll be like Sirius, and I’ll just disappear behind a veil…
He’s by the lake; it’s one of those spring days that teases the taste of summer. The wide, blue, Scottish sky stretches above him, and Ginny’s laying her head on his chest, the remnants of their lunch scattered in the breeze. She’s laughing, describing some childhood incident where she and Ron had accidentally turned all of their chickens purple. He can still taste her lips, and he breathes in the smell of flowers.
Ginny.

See what happens now!
Harry - Well he did techinically die, but lets say he doesn't come back. Neville still kills Nagini. Hermione realizes that Harry probably was a Horcrux, and why he had to die. Harry's protection for everyone still exists just like Lily's protection for him lasted after she died. Voldemort cannot kill anyone else. After Molly kills Bellatrix, Voldemort turns to kill her, but he misses. Members of the DA all fire at Voldemort at once in a variety of spells. One of them hits Voldemort's green spell and fires back on himself and kills him. No one knows for sure who it was (it was Ginny's).
Ron - Died in the explosion along with Fred. Percy Weasley is distraught, losing two of his younger brothers right when he gets them back on his side for the first time in years. He feels entirely guilty, and goes on a rampage. It is unclear how many death eaters die at the hands of Percy Weasley that night. Harry and Hermione are once again lost and have no clue how to move on now that the glue that holds their group together is now gone forever.
Hermione - (Hello Sam). She died in the Fiendfyre. Nothing for the rest of the book changes, except Ron is absolutely inconsolable. He just watched someone he was in love with and then his brother die in front of him in a span of a few minutes. When Voldemort announces that Harry Potter is dead, Ron loses his absolute shit. Instead of Neville, it is Ron who runs forward and tries to attack Voldemort. The Sorting Hat is forced on his head, proving that he is a not a coward that his insecurities told him for years, he pulls out the Sword of Gryffindor. Ron is the only person to kill two of Voldemort's Horcruxes.
Ginny - Your finger must have slipped, you picked the wrong person. I could never allow anyone to kill off the love of my life.
Luna - Bellatrix got her in the end. Hermione and Ginny both watch her go down. Ginny, who thought her best friend was dead for months, finally got her back, and now lost her again, seeths with blind fury. Out of all the spells that she aims at Bellatrix, it is her signature Bat-Boogey hex that lands. While distracted with snot monsters, Molly Weasley comes off and finishes the job.
Neville - Voldemort cannot kill Neville because of Harry's love shield, but Bellatrix can. Bellatrix attacks Neville after he kills Nagini realizing how much it upsets her master. Sweet, little Hannah Abbott watched this happens and absolutely loses her shit. Hannah, Ginny, Luna, and Hermione all take down Bellatrix, and now with one more wand in the mix, Bella goes down. Hannah was the one who had the final blow.
George - Died before he knew Fred was also dead. Thankfully never knew he lived in a world without his twin. The Weasley Family mourns the loss of the twins. Albus Severus is renamed to Fredrick Georges Weasley. McGonagall retires when she realizes she has to deal with both James Sirius and his little brother.
Draco - Died in the Fiendfyre trying to prove himself. Harry lied to Narcissa telling her that he was alive when he very much knew he wasnt, so Harry makes it back to the final battle. However, Narcissa is now pissed realizing that her son is dead. She teams up with Bellatrix to fight Luna, Hermione, and Ginny. This time, it is Narcissa's spell that almost hits Ginny. Molly ends up killing both her and her sister.

Thanks for the tag @sybill-the-seer <3
Rule: Share the first lines of your ten most recent fics and and tag ten people. If you have written less than ten, don’t be shy--share anyway
.
I'll go from most recent to less.
1 - Invisible String
Ginny has known how to write for a whole year when she decides it's time for her to take the story into her own hands, and starts writing about a boy with green eyes, a girl with red hair, and a series of incredible adventures.
2 - Valentine's Switch
Harry looked around the ghastly tea shop decorated for Valentine's Day, the girl he had been crushing on for ages was seated in front of him, and he was seriously starting to reconsider some of his life choices.
3 - Back to the Eclipse
3rd of May
Harry's body ached, and as much as he wished for it to stop, he was glad for the reminder that he was indeed still alive. His eager stomach certainly thought so.
4 - He wasn't sure why
The sun shone on The Burrow, a perfect day for a fly, but despite his best efforts, Harry didn't seem able to shake the terrible mood he had woken up in. His last days of summer appeared destined to be clouded by what he had seen in Knockturn Alley.
5 - I'm sorry too
Ginny was seated on the sofa right in front of the fire with most of the Gryffindor sixth years, two days after the match the euphoria of the win seemed to still be going strong. Dean was on her side and Ron on the other, a rare occasion seeing that since The Incident things between her and her brother had been quite restrained which was honestly unacceptable.
6 - Why wasn't he answering?
They say that when your life ends it all flashes in front of your eyes. Maybe that was why all she could see was Harry. Memories kept trying to push away the devastating sight of Harry's, her Harry, lifeless body in Hagrid's arms.
7 - Don't hate me
Harry fought with his mind to keep control, and once he was able to open his eyes again, he realised there were only him and Ginny in the Room. The last time they had been alone, he had received the best kiss of his life. Somehow he knew that this time things would go very differently.
8 - Percy and Audrey through the years
Audrey observes him from afar, this guy she is supposed to work with. The old lady who accompanied her until this point has vanished and, while she is not thrilled at the idea of having to introduce herself, she is also slightly glad she is not around anymore seeing that she completely forgot her name a second after she said it.
9 - One day [I kind of hate this one]
It was a warm day in May, and as usual, Harry and Ginny had been able to cut a little time for themselves by the lake. They laid on the grounds, looking in each other's eyes, and Ginny couldn't help but think Heaven must be something of that sort.
10 - The names of Ginny Potter's kids
James
Naming her first son "James" had always sounded like the most natural thing in the world, to the point that she had been quite shocked when her husband had proposed shyly the name during her first pregnancy.
.
Anyone who wants to do this can consider themselves tagged.
