FUCK i just realized there’s a definite musical connection between the carnival music when the courtiers gossip abt rigoletto’s “””mistress””” (and when the duke first mentions the girl he’s seen) and the cheerful melody when gilda first appears onstage

Last one, What about Rita Hayworth?
That's just one of the quintessential Old Hollywood Goddesses!
See Gilda and The Lady from Shanghai. Her filmography is a little uneven, but there are several different genre represented.
I think it's unfortunate that people seem to remember her personal life scandals/gossip more than her career.

Mlpfim rewatch - Season one part one
Episodes and notes under the cut
Rating are subject to change when the season roundup comes
Friendship is Magic: Written by Lauren Faust, first aired 10/10, and 10\22 (overall 14/20)
Part one 7/10
A really good introduction to the main cast. It gives us the necessary information for the start of the show.
Part two 7/10
Still good just not as good as the first part. The only “issue” if you can call it that is that Applejack’s trial seems less about honesty and more about trust.
Ticket Master: Written by Amy Keating Rogers and Lauren Faust, first aired 10/29
6.5/10
This is the start of a few episodes surrounding the Grand Galopping Gala. I think it’s pretty alright and the lesson works.
Applebuck Season: Written by Amy Keating Rogers, first aired 11/5
6/10
Honestly alright. Applejack’s stubbornness and its consequences is funny. The only part I don’t really enjoy is the hospital scene.
Griffon the Brush Off: Written by Cindy Morrow, first aired 11/12
7/10
Gilda and her relationship with Rainbow is pretty interesting. Pinkie and RD’s pranks are also funny and thankfully return later.
Boast Busters: Written by Chis Savino , first aired 11/19
3.5/10
Oh boy where do I start. The biggest issue with the episode is that the moral doesn’t seem to fit. Trixie isn’t really in the wrong this episode when compared to the others. Boasting is her job as she is a magician. So why is she being shamed for it?!
Dragonshy: Written by Megan Mcarthy, first aired 11/26
8/10
Honestly one of my favorite episodes of this batch. The adventure is fun and Fluttershy stepping up is a really good moment. Though considering that dragons hibernate why didn’t we ever explore this with spike?
Look Before You Sleep: Written by Charlotte Fullerton, first aired 12/3
5/10
I don’t really mind Twilight in this episode as much as I use to. AJ and Rarity’s pettiness is fine but not super funny.
Bridal Gossip: Written by Amy Keating Rogers, first aired 12/10
3/10
Oh boy. This episode is one of the first major instances of the ponies being racist/xenophobic and let’s just say it wasn’t great. There’s a lot to say about Zecora and how she’s handled by the show as African representation. As I am not African and haven’t participated in African culture I shall open the floor to them.
Swarm of The Century: Written by M.A. Larson, first aired 12/17
7/10
Honestly it’s pretty fun. The chaos brought by the parasprites is enjoyable. Though I do wish that someone pointing out that Fluttershy was wrong for keeping one of them.
Winter Wrapup: Written by Cindy Morrow, first aired 12/24
6/10
It’s alright. The song is fun however the fact that they were late every other year is kinda sad. Though seems odd that outside of seasonal episodes we don’t get a lot of winter episodes.
Call of The Cutie: Written by Megan McCarthy, first aired 1/7
9/10
Honestly this episode is really good. For the first episode that forces on one of the cmc, who will become major secondary characters, is this is really good. I do wish that twist had remained involved with the CmC later on but it’s still a good episode.
Fall Weather Friends: written by Amy Keating Rogers, first aired 11/28
8/10
First fall episode of the season and I like it. Personally between the two RD is more in the wrong than AJ for escalation the situation in the first place imo. Though I refuse to believe that Twilight someone who has never had ran in what is basically a marathon could get fifth. That’s more of a nitpick though.
Overall this is a solid first half of season one. It gets a 70% which is pretty alright.
I think this is because the episodes are more average than ones that are overly positive or negative.
Notes
There aren’t a lot of episodes that take place in different seasons. The show overall seems to take place during summer/spring.
The aura colors of the unicorns’ magic seems to be more transparent and Twilight’s seems to have a different color this season.

Leaves That Before The Wild Hurricane Fly, A Destiel Advent Calendar, December 17
Masterpost
Read it on AO3
The next few days passed as in a blur. He was handed over to Charlie and Gilda, Benny and Andrea, back to Sam and Eileen, and somehow still managed to spend some time in Dean’s shop every day. Castiel himself wouldn’t have been able to explain how or why, but somehow, he always ended up there, helping out or just spending time, and Dean was always eager to provide him with either work or the latest gossip…although could it even be called gossip when he was simply talking about his day? Castiel had no idea.
Each night, he went home and worked on his article. He hadn’t been to the office, and it seemed like no one missed him there, although he thankfully still had his job, as of now.
He grew used to the ways of The Quarter remarkably quickly. By now, people were greeting him when he was near Dean’s shop, and Bridget had introduce him to her knitting circle, which was really just an excuse to listen to the newest music and talk about it.
One day, he looked around his apartment and found himself wishing back to Dean’s place an hour ago, when they “and the rest of the gang” had had inner, and there had been warmth and laughter and –
He knew he was growing more attracted to Dean every day. That in itself would not have been a problem; no, he had grown used to wanting things he couldn’t have a long time ago.
But he wasn’t just attracted to Deana. No, the crush he had, if he was being honest, developed from the second he first met the Fae, was growing stronger by the minute as well. Every time he looked into his eyes; whenever he heard him laugh; when Dean grabbed his arm to point something out or hugged him goodbye at the end of the day – he always, always wished that it would never end.
And so, he sat down and forced himself to sit down and confront the truth one night.
He was falling in love with Dean Winchester. There. He had admitted it to himself.
The problem was that he not only couldn’t stop it – even if he had had an idea how, he didn’t know if he wouldn’t wanted it to stop – but that he was at the same time reasonably sure that almost everyone but Dean knew. Crowley, of course, was a walking innuendo on his best days, but also Sam seemed to always smirk when he saw them together, and Charlie had more than once hinted whether she should leave “him and Dean alone for a bit”.
He was actually starting to think that Bridget’s warning right at the beginning had been about this, rather than anything else, too, since she by now greeted him happily and had actually called him “Dean’s young man” in his own hearing.
To all of that came of course his work on the article, and the fact that it would be Christmas soon. Normally, that wouldn’t have changed anything, but Dean had already invited him to “their party” which promised to be a rather big one, which he concluded because Dean apparently planned to have him take place throughout the entire building, which spoke of a level of trust in his guests that he would never have been able to talk himself into.
So he was left to try and find gifts for at least those who had taken him under their wing. Since he was spending today with Crowley, he thought he might as well ask.
They were on their way to the first “appointment” of the day – Crowley had simply said they were “dealing with stuff” which Castiel quickly came to understand meant that sometimes, people needed someone to be able to help and not to judge them, which was why they were carrying several blood bags – when he managed to gather the courage.
Crowley glanced at him with his red eyes that had long since ceased to even unnerve him in the slightest. “Are you serious?”
“Yes, of course.”
“I would have thought that you of all people should know exactly what Dean would want.”
In hindsight he really should have known better than to ask the demon. What had he been thinking?
“But then I know he’s just going to be annoyed if we continue this conversation so let’s concentrate on the task at hand, shall we?”
He could only agree.
-------------------------------------------
“Castiel” Raphael asked immediately when he phoned him that night, “How is it going?”
“I can send you the draft in the next few days.”
“Please do. The public needs to be informed of the danger close by.”
Now wait a moment. “As a matter of fact…”
“I eagerly await your article, Castiel”.
And he hung up.

I thinking of making a fun short AU of the DC Random Villan Kids.
Where the edgiest teens try to become the biggest name in the Gotham Underworld, failed repetidly and give Babs, Tim, Steph and Cass a massive headache.
Starring:
Duela Dent as The Leader
Ethan Cobblepot as The Lancer
Enigma as The Smart One
Kid Shark as The Strong One
There is no heart because they are Bad Kids
-----------/// --------- /// ----------------///---------
About our protags:.
1. Duela Dent:
▫️While I find her multiple backstories fascinating (my favorite being the confusing she was from Earth 3 all along), I will keep the more logical one:
▪️Duela is the child of Harvey and Gilda Dent.
▪️ Harvey was scarred and became Two-Face during Gilda pregnancy, becaming instable and some times being really angry that her wife wasn't pregnant of twins.
▪️Afraid to be like his own abusive father, Harvey decided that the best he could do was abandon his wife and daugther before he could hurt them. Before going away he wrotre a letter explaining everything for when his daugther got older. Since they hadn't chose the name yet, Harvey used Duela in the letter as a cute nickname.
▪️ With her own mental health declining, Gilda could not raise the kid by herself and choose to give her to adoption after birth. She still had hopes of both her and Harvey seeking mental heath, getting better and adopting their kid back, that is why she named the baby Duela beforehand.
▪️After being reunited in The Long Halloween, they try to adopt her. But at this point they are worse and the orphanage don't even allow them to see her. That night Duela hears about her parents visit and thanks to gossip and missinformation ends up beliving her dad is the Joker.
▪️Duella got emancipated at 16 and tries to get her "dad's" attention by comiting crimes under varius villan themed pseudonymus the major one being "the truth".
▪️She succeds. Joker acepts her as a member of the gang because he won't say no to a free henchwoman.
▫️Different from cannon she and Harley have a great relationship. And get even closer when both leave Joker (Harley for her own sake and Duela when in a gang war Two-Face tells her the truth).
▫️Now she wants to became a great villan to show the Joker for humiliating her (and secretly because Harvey never explained why he abandoned her and she wants his aproval).
▫️Harvey wanted to reconect with her and may be cheated in his own coin game so he could try. He is a corny dad and has no idea what he is doing, but bless him he is trying. Duela pretends she doesn't care about him and that she thinks he is lame, but she is secretally really happy he is trying and loves being a daddy's girl.
▪️both want to see Gilda again.
▫️Duella is 18. She lives in Harley Quinn's basement, has a Tik Tok account and loves Death Note, eletronic and emo music.
▫️ She has the gemini symbol tatoo because of Harvey but she lies to people that she is just very into horoscope (insert her friends saying "but you are a sagitarius"). She also has a small harlerquin (for harley duh).
▫️ According to Jason she is "as cringe as Tim".
▫️During the short period between Cass and Tim that Steph was single she and Duela had a Tinder Match.
▪️No. One. Will. Ever. Let. Steph. Forget.
------///-------///-------///--------///-------///-----///
2. Ethan Cobblepot
▫️His backstory is the same except for the sake of bullying Ignatious Ogilvy is actually Oswald adopted son and so it's Martin (the kid from Gotham). So Oswald actually have two kids he loves and cares about, he just dislikes Ethan for no reason.
▫️He is the most steriotypical sad white rich boy with daddy issues.
▫️Different from cannon (or for what is inferred on cannon cause the art we get on the pannels isn't even that bad) his face is barrely scared he is just a whinny bitch.
▫️His reasons to be the best supervillan are: to be bigger than his father and "sibblings" and because he is simping on Batgirl and can't accept she broke up with him (he blames his "ugly" face).
▫️Duela actualy wanted Ogivly in her team, but he was too big league for them. She them tried Martin, but while he had potencial, he was twelve and she "didn't want a Robin". She never even tried Ethan, he just was stalking Martin and introduced himself as a team member.
▫️He does belive that by being the eldest he should be the team leader. He has a pont but is more because he pays for all their shit and since he is really rich they do have tec that it's just too good for a bunch of C-listers.
▫️He is 24. Has his own company he funded from zero (a word that here means with his father money, a lot of it) and loves minecraft, figthing with Enigma over who is the smartest, texting Barbara and criptocoin. He has his own CobbleCoin.
▫️Texted all the batkids more than once asking them to tell Barbara to unblock him.
▫️No one will ever let Barbara forget she dated him. She is the only one who can't make fun of Stephanie for the Tinder Match or of Damian for dating Lord Death Man kindda daugther because she dated Ethan Cobblepot.
--/--/--/--/--/--/--/--/--/--/--/--/--/--/--/--/--/--/
3. Enigma
▫️No one know where did she came from. When asked Ed will be very enigmatic about it but the truth is he also doesn't known.
▪️Kid just appeared in his safe house one day saying she was his daugther. She knew nothing about her biomon, lived in an orphanage and she never explained why she was so sure he was the dad.
▪️So obviasly Ed accepted that must be the truth... nah, he did an DNA test. BUT while this all was happening Ed was on the high of having figure out Batman's identity (and by extension the whole batfam) and wanted to do the same with other super heros, namely Superman. That resulted in a fight with Query and Echo about how Superman was totaly going to kill Eddie (and just him, cause no way they were going to help him figth Superman).
▪️The fight scaleted to them accusing him of having a compulsion with finding answers (he had just accepted his compulsion for riddles he was not accepting another one) and he saying he didn't and he had made all the calculations of how to confront an angry Superman.
▪️So to prove he didn't had a compulsion and therefor was not doing his dumb Superman plot because he stopped taking his meds he destroyed the results of the DNA test. And them had a panic attack because he was in a compulsive episode.
Echo: Calm down, boss, you can take another test.
Riddler: *panicking on the floor*how would I even explain that I need new DNA? why did I even do that? what's wrong with me?
Query: Uh... Actualy I was curious and looked at the results early.
Riddler: *calming a little* and?
Query: Er... congratulations you're a dad?
Riddler: fuck.
*later*
Echo: You did not saw the results at all did you?
Query: Nope. Eddie is too guilable sometimes.
Echo: So why did you said it was positive?
Query: He isn't planing a suicide mission against Superman anymore, is he.
Echo: I love you soo much when you're scheming.
▪️In conclusion Ed thinks he is her dad and that's enough. Is he? Who know? He is her father figure for sure.
▫️Riddler has no idea how to be a dad. He treats her as a friend and spoils her soo much. They also have petty verbal arguments. He will tell everyone about how amazing she is as long as she does anything. He considers her sucesses another reason for why he is the best. And will talk her up at any chance.
▫️She goes by Ella as a civilian name (and El so to not conflict wifh Duela) because Ed absolutly refuses to register her as Enigma Nygma. Not even he is this tacky. She does chooses Ella because she is kindda of a Duela fangirl.
▫️Her reason to join the group was because she has a crush on Duela. She told it was so the world would recognize her superior intellect, but eh, she doesn't care about what dumb people think of her and as long as Ed keeps hypping her up to everyone (because if she is great he is by extension) she is cool. That being said she loves to prove Ethan wrong ever time he says he is the smart one.
▫️She is a bad conspiracy theorist and her conspiracy pall is Bernard. Cue Tim laughing and Ed dying in the background as Enigma and Bernard discuss how that famous pilot Hal Jordan is totaly Batman. Her friendship with Bernard is a bit of a problem to Tim though.
▫️She is fifteen and the group's baby. She is as cringe as her supposed dad with the bonus of being a bad conspiracy theorist and being on the teenage phase were she thinks insulting people/cursing is cool and mature.
▫️She may once have selled Ed's antidepressants as drugs to Ethan and Duela, but on her defence she though her dad was just addicted and that was why he took the pills. He had an episode. It was the only time Query and Echo were pissed with her.
---//----///-----////-------////--------/////--------//////-
4. Kid Shark
▫️In this universe King Shark isn't dead. Instead he raises his son to lead a more pacefull life than the one he had.
▫️He was raised in Atlantis, with ocassional visists from Aquaman to keep his dad in check. While he dislikes Aquaman, he has to admit he finds his dad other rival - Superboy - to be really cool.
▫️He is mostly a soft zem guy, though he has some anger issues and can enter in very violent rages.
▫️He is 19 (he lives human years and not shark years because of the whole quarter-god thing). He moved to Gotham to apply to college and socialize outside Atlantis. He also wants to figth Superboy one day.
▫️He joined the club because he saw as an opportunity to make friends and get some cash.
▫️Besides being the Strong One, he is definitivaly the Heart of the group being super sweet when not enraged. That being said he sees no value on the lifes of people he doesn't care about and is fine being a vilan.
▫️After seeing Batgirl (Cassandra) fighting he really wants to face her in combat.

What would you say to the idea (someone may have used it already) of Gilda being from a much higher-class background than Harvey? Not Bruce-level, but enough for people to spread rumors that, say, Harvey is courting her for campaign $$$?
Way back when I was writing my Harvey fic (which I still haven't given up on, even though I have no plans to return anytime soon), I did imagine Gilda coming from a more upper-middle-class background much like myself. While Harvey has sometimes been depicted in canon as a child of privilege, I strongly preferred to write him as coming from poverty, so there would have been some level of conflict between him and Gilda in that way. At least in the long courtship stage I'd been planning.
That said, I don't know how I feel about that making them a target for gossip and rumors on that level. It might be a valid take, but I feel like it would add a level of nastiness that I'm not interesting in reading. My priorities with their relationship and the shit they have to deal with lie elsewhere. If those priorities were in place (either by me or some other writer), then MAYBE that plot detail could work. Depending on what's done with it.
That said, there are so many ways it could be terrible, especially if a writer decided to play with the idea that maybe he really IS after her for her money and status. I definitely do not want to see that, especially not now that I could easily imagine some writer doing that. It strikes me as an idea with too much risk to be worth the reward.

My My Little Pony Episode Opinions (Part 1)
Ever since the beginning of this year, i've been rewatching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, though have been extremely slow in getting to the seasons past the third. I mean, the year's almost over and I still have four more to watch. On Twitter, i've made a thread dedicated to opining about each episode I revisit, which is to include not only the main show, but also all of the Equestria Girls films and specials, the 2017 theatrical film, and the Christmas and Rainbow Roadtrip specials. Currently, I have done everything up to the end of Season 5. Also, I should note that i'm leaving out shorts and music videos for the sake of keeping things streamlined.
Anyway, here's my long list of thoughts i've constructed so far in the tweets, with the character limit Twitter allowed:
Season 1, Episode 1: Friendship is Magic, Part 1
The humble beginnings. It doesn't waste time in providing the foundations of our main characters, and is also an informative preview of what can be expected out of the show besides world-threatening conflicts. Ideal start point.
Season 1, Episode 2: Friendship is Magic, Part 2
Everyone contributes organically to the climax setup, and none of it feels rushed despite the time limit. I can also give Nightmare Moon props for her proactivity. Too bad about Spike being mostly sidelined at the end, though.
Season 1, Episode 3: The Ticket Master
Cute seasonal setup episode with fun visuals, though my favourite part is how one character has the end goal of financially supporting her folks in mind for attending, while the others have reasons more hedonistic or thirsty as F in nature.
Season 1, Episode 4: Applebuck Season
This episode speaks to me louder now than it did way back then. I have to question how much it was going to take for Applejack's friends (besides Twilight) to notice how out of it she clearly was by her actions, but it's a barrel of laughs.
Season 1, Episode 5: Griffon the Brush Off
Pinkie Pie in top form. New person got poisonous attitude? Use a party! Although, I wonder if her "she might give it back" comment about Gilda stealing that apple (and then eating it) was made because Gilda's a bird. Imagine THAT scene.
Season 1, Episode 6: Boast Busters
Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Rarity's attempts to upstage Trixie feel like natural end results, though the episode SORELY overlooks Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy in the matter. Also, Spike gets repetitive. Trixie? Delightfully theatrical entrance!
Season 1, Episode 7: Dragonshy
As our first exposure to dragon mannerisms and power outside of little Spike, it's pretty intriguing. Even better, it took the first big steps in the right direction for Fluttershy's character. Sadly, Angel Bunny's would only get worse from here.
Season 1, Episode 8: Look Before You Sleep
Gotta have an episode to remind me what kind of cartoon i'm rewatching. Seriously though, it never gets too sickly sweet, thanks to the entertaining antagonism. But was staying at Twilight's house REALLY the only option for BOTH ponies?
Season 1, Episode 9: Bridle Gossip
The effects of the Poison Joke flower were the REAL stars of this episode. Also pre-Cutie Mark Crusaders Apple Bloom. I think most of us can agree it's odd how Twilight is skeptical for most of it, then changes her tune at surface-level stuff.
Season 1, Episode 10: Swarm of the Century
Parasprites are terrifying and gross creatures that shouldn't exist. Pretty darn convenient that the Andrea Libman-voiced pony who ISN'T the animal caretaker knows about these things and how to remove them. Proves her intellect well.
Season 1, Episode 11: Winter Wrap Up
The song is still lovely, and the resolution plays to one of Twilight's greatest strengths. Nice use of Chekhov's Gun. However, I can't help thinking the disaster could've been avoided if a moment was taken to remember "Oh yeah, telekinesis."
Season 1, Episode 12: Call of the Cutie
Someone needed to call out Twist for her betrayal. Where's the justice? That aside, this episode makes one thing perfectly clear about Apple Bloom: she ain't her sister, and this road of self-discovery begins by stepping out of her shadow.
Season 1, Episode 13: Fall Weather Friends
A case where Applejack and Rainbow Dash butt heads in the heat of competition, and fun stuff is done with it. I love how it has a dash of The Tortoise and the Hare at the end, just because they could do it. All they need is a rematch.
Season 1, Episode 14: Suited For Success
Art of the Dress is still a masterwork. Twilight and the others are lucky that Rarity didn't hold their "looking the gift horse in the mouth" (as the ending lesson put it) against them. Also, I guess Spike's a ghost here. Do NOT miss out!
Season 1, Episode 15: Feeling Pinkie Keen
I enjoy me a round of cartoon slapstick, and this episode doesn't disappoint there, though I feel the Pinkie Sense could've been handled a bit differently in hindsight. Like, imagine it's a condition Pinkie has that's cured by "doozies"?
Season 1, Episode 16: Sonic Rainboom
It demonstrates one of the fantastical feats one of the heroines can pull off outside of cartoon logic. And Libman's acting chops. One thing i'll say is that you can probably get to the competition with about half the scenes leading up to it.
Season 1, Episode 17: Stare Master
I think Twilight's motivations could've been ANYTHING to get her in the petrified state, but the Cutie Mark Crusaders, like the children they are, are likable in their never-ending activity bouncing off Fluttershy. The Stare's quite an anomaly.
Season 1, Episode 18: The Show Stoppers
An unfortunate aftereffect of this episode is the running gag it'd attach to the Cutie Mark Crusaders for a good while to come. Within the episode itself, the talent show kind of comes off as an element as random as the montage escapades.
Season 1, Episode 19: A Dog and Pony Show
Seriously, what MLP fan doesn't love Rarity getting under the Diamond Dogs' skin with her squeaky whining? One part I find a bit nonsense was Twilight going "But only Rarity finds gems.", and one second later: "Wait, Rarity taught me."
Season 1, Episode 20: Green Isn't Your Color
FUN FACT: this was the first FiM episode I properly watched, so I have a bias in calling it one of my absolute favourites. Fluttershy's situation is why I never want to have celebrity status, but I also identify with Rarity's plight.
Season 1, Episode 21: Over a Barrel
Now Applejack and Rainbow Dash deny others their chance to speak for themselves in a potential compromise, and they aren't called out for it as much as they SHOULD be. Worse: one of the earliest examples of Pinkie being outright brain-dead.
Season 1, Episode 22: A Bird in the Hoof
For a molting bird, Philomena was quite a crafty little stinker, wasn't she? Sure produced some good laughs in the climax. I appreciate the ending revelation making sense of Celestia leaving her sickly pet behind, the conflict's catalyst.
Season 1, Episode 23: The Cutie Mark Chronicles
A wholesome anthology-type episode where everything meets up neatly in the middle. The circumstances are very conveniently coincidental, yet they still defy the whole common "it was your destiny" trope in a strange sort of way.
Season 1, Episode 24: Owl's Well That Ends Well
The beginning's on the nose, and you'd swear that Owlowiscious WAS threatening Spike's position with his 24-hour presence. It gets pretty ridiculous thanks to a lack of desperately-needed communication. Also, this image here, man!
Season 1, Episode 25: Party of One
The story mixes brilliantly deceptive foreshadowing in the prologue, a believable insecurity in Pinkie, a hilarious demonstration of vocal range from Libman, and a great moral on knowing your best friends like the back of your hand. Perfection!
Season 1, Episode 26: The Best Night Ever
Strong start, then it swerves into nonsense country. First season finale: main protagonist is barely in the plot. Fluttershy gave us a funny freakout, make no mistake, but at what cost? Finally, the ending is depressing in numerous ways.
Season 2, Episode 1: The Return of Harmony, Part 1
A magnificent introduction to Discord. What made his plan to corrupt the heroes brilliant is that he did it while their friendship was still young, and they organically behave like how they characteristically would on bad days.
Season 2, Episode 2: The Return of Harmony, Part 2
Spike got to be a plot convenience. Now, one thing I think could've been tweaked in this episode is the memory spell deal. Twilight's friends may have easily had their true selves restored by their unity in the last few minutes.
Season 2, Episode 3: Lesson Zero
Still a hilarious episode, and the funniest Twilight's freak-outs ever got. But besides it's humour, the show wouldn't have moved forward as much without it. Also, those ponies are totally jealous of Spike's purple unicorn friendship seniority.
Season 2, Episode 4: Luna Eclipsed
One has to wonder how much of a break Luna was taking since her previous appearance to have this out-of-touch position here. No matter, though. This episode is interesting for how it shows Twilight, a student, becoming the master for a night.
Season 2, Episode 5: Sisterhooves Social
It's not only cute, but important. First, it goes to show that cutting someone out of your life doesn't simply begin with a declaration. Second, it's essentially every good sibling's childhood fabrication of a good guy & bad guy scenario.
Season 2, Episode 6: The Cutie Pox
Here's a good message: there's no reward in taking the easy way out, because the easy way out doesn't really exist (or at least doesn't have to). Although, if the titular disease is that widely known, shouldn't the signs have been seen sooner?
Season 2, Episode 7: May the Best Pet Win!
I do not get why Fluttershy doesn't object more to Rainbow's snubbing of Tank. He's a good boy, that tortoise. With how present he was, it would've been a plot twist to NOT have him get the win. Pretty strange episode here, I must say.
Season 2, Episode 8: The Mysterious Mare Do Well
My god, the staggering lack of self-awareness of one simple fact they demonstrate: EVERYONE'S got an ego, just in differing sizes. I think they wanted too much for Rainbow Dash to be seen in the wrong by the lengths of her idiocy.
Season 2, Episode 9: Sweet and Elite
I need to pay my respects to this episode for playing with the old "liar is a liar who's revealed as a liar in the end" type of story a little. We got a genuinely charming minor character out of it. Pure wholesomeness permeates the runtime.
Season 2, Episode 10: Secret of My Excess
Growing pains ahoy! Spike got a well-told lesson about giving from the heart over taking because of temptation, but since his species is mysterious at this point, bit of a time waster to consult the local PONY healthcare first, Twilight.
Season 2, Episode 11: Hearth's Warming Eve
Always a good watch around Christmas. It's history lesson on the show's main setting is easily digestible, yet a bit complex, and the in-universe casting is perfect. I think all that's missing is an appearance from Twilight's parents.
Season 2, Episode 12: Family Appreciation Day
So, the entire town of Ponyville, not just that one big apple orchard, owes it's existence to magic fruit? That's oddly specific. Also odd how a more direct rescheduling method stares at everyone right in the face, and no one saw it.
Season 2, Episode 13: Baby Cakes
Isn't it weird how Pinkie seems to have realizations of how in over her head she is, yet basically proceeds with her old strategy anyway, and just never uses what she learns as she goes along for the sake of the obvious end episode moral? Crazy.
Season 2, Episode 14: The Last Roundup
Applejack had a pretty realistic reaction to her failure, and what's more, her skill in loophole exploitation is a devious dimension to her honesty streak. Cartoon antics aside, it's mature writing. Also, something something Derpy's voice.
Season 2, Episode 15: The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000
The fact nobody in town got to know what the Flim Flam Brothers' cider tasted like BEFORE the quality control cancellation lessens their threat a bit. Nonetheless, the ending deconstructed the lesson formula hilariously.
Season 2, Episode 16: Read It and Weep
If you ever need an episode of this show that's a confidence booster when you don't know how to come out about something you've grown smitten with, this is the one. Or just watch Rainbow be likeable while trying to maintain her street cred.
Season 2, Episode 17: Hearts and Hooves Day
Besides how the conflict came about from someone neglecting to mention an important detail to the CMC, and maybe too much of the sugary lover names, this is a funny step outside the Cutie Mark obsession comfort zone. A cute song, too.
Season 2, Episode 18: A Friend in Deed
The Smile Song is still the ultimate feel-good song. The story that follows it has a heartwarming Chekhov's Gun payoff, but the lesson Pinkie should've learned was the importance of minding her personality around someone new and unfamiliar.
Season 2, Episode 19: Putting Your Hoof Down
By the end, i'm left puzzled as to why they'd overlook the detail where assertiveness turned into needless aggression. It should have some slightly bigger repercussions than what happens, as hilarious as Fluttershy's loud rampage is.
Season 2, Episode 20: It's About Time
This is an episode of it's time. The audacity to poke fun at all the bogus doomsday predictions that used to run rampant, and put Twilight in the position of an overanxious believer. So much she forgot that she lived in the royal city once.
Season 2, Episode 21: Dragon Quest
If this episode just had a few elements added on to it, like some female dragon characters, and interactions with the seasoned adults, it'd come off less like a "cute and girly good, rad and boyish bad" story mixed in with the intended message.
Season 2, Episode 22: Hurricane Fluttershy
You can tell the show's beard is growing here. They tactfully handled the childhood bullying trauma and fit it seamlessly into a lesson about even the tiniest things having difference-making potential. Fluttershy really defined courage.
Season 2, Episode 23: Ponyville Confidential
What's admirable about this story is that regardless of anything that compels the CMC to go through with their hurtful journalism, they are still accountable for their actions and need to earn forgiveness. And voice-of-reason Rarity.
Season 2, Episode 24: MMMystery on the Friendship Express
This was specifically written and drawn to give us dessert cravings, I swear. Besides the fun film homages, if they wanted the mystery factor, it was hurt by both the nighttime silhouettes having the distinct pony shape.
Season 2, Episode 25: A Canterlot Wedding, Part 1
There were quite a handful of questions that Twilight could've easily brought up if she were to have any chance of helping her case about "Cadance". Shining Armor needed better explaining, too. But dang, does it strike the heart.
Season 2, Episode 26: A Canterlot Wedding, Part 2
The second half of this two-parter went hard. The song, This Day Aria, went hard. The villain, Chrysalis, went hard. The action went hard. Lastly, it opened the gateway for villain returns and other family stories. What a finish.
Season 3, Episode 1: The Crystal Empire, Part 1
It gets off to a slow start, not helped by a song number, but they nicely pulled off the long-lost kingdom angle with traumatized amnesia victims clashing against the eye candy environment. Nobody feels out-of-character, either.
Season 3, Episode 2: The Crystal Empire, Part 2
King Sombra, for his limited screen time, is a believable threat, like a smart cross between a posthumous antagonist and a cataclysmic force. That aside, parts of this episode play out like novel narration, and it's kind of funny.
Season 3, Episode 3: Too Many Pinkie Pies
Goes to show there's only room for one of any iconic character. They earned points for making not an episode with Flanderization, but an episode that fires a shot at Flanderization. Then points are lost for an overly-elaborate solution.
Season 3, Episode 4: One Bad Apple
Someone I know put it best about the CMC's revenge stunt, long ago: "That's not bullying, that's retribution." The song's serviceable, but what's bothersome in this story is the surprising lack of adult presence, and some bits of underreacting.
Season 3, Episode 5: Magic Duel
There was more smoke & mirrors magicianry than in Trixie's debut, oddly. It's an overall good time with a spectacular antagonist comeback, except for that uncharacteristic display of cowardice from Fluttershy when her friend's life depends on her.
Season 3, Episode 6: Sleepless in Ponyville
Hey, it's an animated look into a child's patterns and emotional weakness, topped with an unofficial adoption on the spot. This is why Scootaloo is my favourite CMC. One note: I never saw Sweetie Belle's sour note as a continuity fail.
Season 3, Episode 7: Wonderbolts Academy
The academy scenes are great, Lightning Dust is a fun foil to Rainbow, but the stuff with Pinkie and co. needed to be shortened, as the ending's a little rushed. Twilight or Applejack could've quickly come up with the care package idea.
Season 3, Episode 8: Apple Family Reunion
I doubt it was at all intentional, but the way I see it, there's a bit of dark comedy to the overtones of Applejack's reunion arrangements, and that's got me feeling uneasy. Worse, not enough Babs Seed time to warrant her reappearance.
Season 3, Episode 9: Spike at Your Service
Many fans hate this episode, but I can't. It's so bad, it's great. Although, it'd be funnier if the Dragon Code was just a shopping list, and nobody realized it. Speaking of what-ifs, surprised Rarity didn't have a big fit of jealousy.
Season 3, Episode 10: Keep Calm and Flutter On
I always found the pacing in this episode fine for such a big shake-up to a character. It worked because Discord had a believable layer added to his chaotic nature, but also, in the end, everyone knows his redemption has just begun.
Season 3, Episode 11: Just for Sidekicks
If Spike was reminded that he could always go digging for more gems, and Angel Bunny wasn't portrayed as unaccountable, despite his clear sentience, I wouldn't scratch my head at this. At least Zecora remembers the threat greed poses.
Season 3, Episode 12: Games Ponies Play
It's too convenient that nothing about inspecting the games or the name "Ms. Harshwhinny" manages to leave anyone's mouth around the excitable visitor they mistake for the inspector, until near the end. Said visitor's likeable, good thing.
Season 3, Episode 13: Magical Mystery Cure
Sure, it feels like there's a missing episode to this plot, but the song numbers are beautiful and Twilight is properly rewarded for her initiative and knowledge. If you can call this an amnesia episode, it actually gets amnesia right.
Film 1: My Little Pony: Equestria Girls
If it isn't dragging it's feet because of obligatory world-building or Twilight forgetting obvious concepts, it's got me questioning some of the characters' awareness. Bop of a song, cute interactions, messy story. Less ideal start point.
Season 4, Episode 1: Princess Twilight Sparkle, Part 1
The episode draws you into the mystery it's setting up, and pulls cunning misdirection. But, something I thought about now: why don't they use Spike's letter-sending fire to try getting a lock on where the Royal Sisters are?
Season 4, Episode 2: Princess Twilight Sparkle, Part 2
Cons: undercooked Nightmare Moon background, and Twilight's friends deciding to send her home too easily. Pros: Discord being a fun stinker in mentor tactics, and the lesson of a friendship lasting beyond where it started.
Season 4, Episode 3: Castle Mane-ia
A serviceable episode that provides a logical follow-up to the retired formula of the past seasons, but otherwise it doesn't do anything of interest with this historical setting but the golden age horror homages as obligatory as the title pun.
Season 4, Episode 4: Daring Don't
The twist in this episode makes sense with the compact in-universe lore of the character in question, and what it comes with is a subversive, but still relatable take on the "never meet your heroes" cliché. Just one thing: remember it for later.
Season 4, Episode 5: Flight to the Finish
This undoubtedly went some personal. psychological places for kids, because for all the right reasons, this is pretty sad to watch, comical bits aside. Nothing to complain about, other than the status quo blatantly butting in at the end.
Season 4, Episode 6: Power Ponies
You gotta laugh at Fluttershy having a rage fit, but if you're gonna paint your story like Spike's friends aren't taking his comic knowledge or instructions very seriously, make more use of that leeway you have with an enchanted book's powers.
Season 4, Episode 7: Bats!
The very real dangers of peer pressure and the very real problem of pest infestations and how to control them, all in one episode. Dang, what a juggling act. That impresses me. Though, you'd expect a balance in the characters seeing sides at the start.
Season 4, Episode 8: Rarity Takes Manehattan
A smart piece of commentary on switching environments and giving out trust. It's easy to understand Rarity almost sacrificing her ethics and devolving into one of the dog-eat-dog city folk, after simple goodness came back to bite her.
Season 4, Episode 9: Pinkie Apple Pie
It exemplifies the best of a family dynamic. When they drive each other up the wall, but nobody gets hurt in any fashion and they resolve the tension on their own, they're functional. Additionally, Pinkie was funny and smart this go-around.
Season 4, Episode 10: Rainbow Falls
Fundamentally awkward story for Rainbow Dash's "key". It shouldn't be that exciting for her to fly with the Wonderbolts. She already does! Yet despite the repeated continuity nod, that detail is conveniently ignored. Plus: that's not Spitfire!
Season 4, Episode 11: Three's A Crowd
If they didn't spend so much time saying Discord had a (fake) problem, Twilight and Cadance's bonding could've been more interesting. Why WOULDN'T Cadance want a fully peaceful day with Twilight after the craziness in the past two seasons?!
Season 4, Episode 12: Pinkie Pride
What an episode to air on my 20th birthday! Cheese Sandwich steals the show, and we see a case of a prideful person who doesn't aim to upstage anybody. The live-action shots are gags straight out of SpongeBob, and I love them for that. Perfect!
Season 4, Episode 13: Simple Ways
Goofy, but meaningful. Goes to show that when you think you can change yourself to someone else, you need an accident for your true character to re-emerge. A love triangle was a useful plot device, even. You wouldn't expect that normally. LOL
Season 4, Episode 14: Filli Vanilli
Plot convenient continuity nodding and a realistic take on facing your fears for the win! As for Pinkie's bit, I can say it was fine for one time, but when it's repeated, especially in succession, it's just writing her as a brain-dead babbler.
Season 4, Episode 15: Twilight Time
And there's our special lesson on how association can possibly be a curse, even if, for a short time, it looks like a blessing. It just could've been heavier on the show over the tell. On another note: how about some justice for Randolph, huh?
Season 4, Episode 16: It Ain't Easy Being Breezies
I find it fascinating to see how an act of goodwill can still come from someone betraying their biggest moral trait. That's a strong message. That said, the ending solution feels comically convenient, and the problem puzzling.
Season 4, Episode 17: Somepony to Watch Over Me
Oh, you poor idiot plot. Applejack can't be bothered to remember outside helpers until the worst moment, and I don't get why they bothered characterizing the chimera. That song cancellation gag and action scene were good, though.
Season 4, Episode 18: Maud Pie
I love Maud. Absolutely adorable in her monotone, and a positive example of how emotions and opinions can come from different reactions than the expected. A few nitpicks in character and scenario writing, but otherwise a lovely, must-see episode.
Season 4, Episode 19: For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils
Once again, Rarity and Sweetie Belle carry an important story. It's a familiar feeling, seeing the older sibling as a villain, leading to a touching revelation by the perspective shift. An anti-revenge note also don't hurt.
Season 4, Episode 20: Leap of Faith
A balanced take on the matter of well-meant lies versus difficult truths, because while everyone obviously needed to hear the latter, the former brought vital details of body and spirit to light which might've been forgotten about otherwise.
Season 4, Episode 21: Testing Testing 1, 2, 3
I'm all for them passing down THIS kind of knowledge. The idea of how one can achieve it without consciously trying to exercise their intelligence. Not so much for most things that pay off starting as spells of incompetence. Oh well.
Season 4, Episode 22: Trade Ya!
It goes pretty swimmingly for a bit. I'd say the setting had some amusing escalation. But then one subplot seems to skip a beat, and the ending conflict feels too last-minute and easily avoidable to get invested in. Now, who wants chicken dippers?
Season 4, Episode 23: Inspiration Manifestation
The moral of Spike's journey: if you are friends with someone, even love them, and you're willing to call them out for their mistakes (which they recognize), that's a testament of a true bond. The lesson's progression was on point.
Season 4, Episode 24: Equestria Games
Did we necessarily need an Olympics backdrop and episodes building up to the event to tell THIS story? It's simply a (fine) lesson on expectation and celebrity mortality. Also, that dumb, long gag should've had a comedic (and quick) cutaway.
Season 4, Episode 25: Twilight's Kingdom, Part 1
It gets so much right as a first part. It presents the reality of pep talks being great, but not always certain to heal an insecurity immediately, creatively utilizes Chekhov's Gun, and establishes Tirek as a cool force of nature.
Season 4, Episode 26: Twilight's Kingdom, Part 2
The fight had no reason to go that anime, and I love it! Icing on a cake layered by a show-stealing villain, two congruent arc conclusions, thrilling stakes, and how it ends with an unapologetic, radical restructuring! Fecking! A!
Film 2: Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks
What can I say besides that Sunset had a realistic and rewarding redemption, I laughed, they cohesively built drama off a wound from the original's conflict, the villain songs are the sickest beats in this franchise, and more?! It's… ART!
Season 5, Episode 1: The Cutie Map, Part 1
You wouldn't think MLP would use it's cute image to thinly disguise a light psycho-thriller. Pinkie's uncharacteristic behaviour actually works to a pretty humorous benefit. Though I scratch my head at the town's self-sustainment means.
Season 5, Episode 2: The Cutie Map, Part 2
The heroes pulled some airtight manipulation and deception, and Starlight Glimmer's self-interest reveal is an effective spot to leave her in for what's to come. Her secret is revealed by an odd convenience, but nothing story-breaking.
Season 5, Episode 3: Castle Sweet Castle
Massively poignant episode that respectfully handles the pains of leaving home forever and adapting to a new place of residence, paired with a heartfelt tribute to the show's continuity and previous status quo. Ingenious resolution there.
Season 5, Episode 4: Bloom & Gloom
The first nightmare sequence captures the eerie similarity to reality real dreams have to a T. Babs Seed being mentioned, but absent is strongly felt, though. Like, "should've probably had physical presence" (in dreamland) felt. That's just me.
Season 5, Episode 5: Tanks for the Memories
While I respect this children's cartoon's creative take on the 5 Stages of Grief, they egregiously overplay how much of a change Tank's hibernation really is. "This isn't good-bye. It's just good-bye 'til next time." - remember that?
Season 5, Episode 6: Appleoosa's Most Wanted
Everyone's pointed out how the writer forgot what makes a Cutie Mark manifest, but I found it rather annoying that the CMC weren't quick to stand up for the poor alleged criminal. Also, i'm lost on the comedy of his self-harm. Yipes.
Season 5, Episode 7: Make New Friends but Keep Discord
Following from Discord's redemption arc, it highlights just how little he's been offered a hand in friendship to react how he does. Spoiled, close-minded, and still a fun scene stealer. But, Smooze is gross and superfluous.
Season 5, Episode 8: The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone
Quite a bold twist to take former friends who couldn't possibly ever restore the goodwill between each other, but manage to because of a little hidden nostalgia for happiness they never stopped valuing. Gold among the junk.
Season 5, Episode 9: Slice of Life
It's an insane train ride of fan service, not much motivation behind it but that, but dang does it demonstrate the setting's inherent goofiness and cement it as a lived-in place. Part of me thinks the Mane 6 characters should've been excluded.
Season 5, Episode 10: Princess Spike
Spike really doesn't just come off as a kid enjoying getting cool stuff in this, but uncomfortably tyrannical. Adding on, Twilight being treated as the center of the kingdom, the one with all the answers, is ludicrously sudden and incredible.
Season 5, Episode 11: Party Pooped
I see the aim of the moral, how the journey can mean more than the destination, but I think another message is to be taken away from this episode. That is insanity. Constant, predictable actions leading to predictable, and repetitious, results.
Season 5, Episode 12: Amending Fences
They did a great job resolving the loose end of Twilight's forgotten friends, and stating that the mistake of one shouldn't make others tied to that person accomplices in hurting somebody. If Twilight just wasn't so forward, it'd be perfect.
Season 5, Episode 13: Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?
Besides how creepy it is that Luna's been secretly doing this self-punishment thing ever since she reformed, the reveal behind the Tantabus's origin is handled in such a blasé manner. Points for creative action, though.
Season 5, Episode 14: Canterlot Boutique
The rejected altered dress deserved a happy ending, damn it! I thought that Sassy Saddles was such a self-centered, callous person, her turn at the end was too little, too late. They even confused workplace depression with pride. So dumb.
Season 5, Episode 15: Rarity Investigates!
This is definitely something you watch more for the fun film noir homages than the actual mystery, but it does have value in teaching the importance of heeding details. Very smart use of Rarity's character, and her dynamic with Rainbow.
Season 5, Episode 16: Made in Manehattan
It's hilarious that the problem they needed to mend literally stumbles into them from the sky. Prime plot convenience. But hey, I can respect when they pay respects to the simpler ways to help people. Also Coco Pommel, that cinnamon bun.
Season 5, Episode 17: Brotherhooves Social
The ending makes for a genuine and heartwarming sibling moment. I know that sense of inferiority born from a relation to someone with great achievements. But why put minutes of generic, awkwardness-peppered comedy in front of it, guys?
Season 5, Episode 18: Crusaders of the Lost Mark
They pulled off the most original way they could've closed out the CMC's longest-running plotline. I don't find that Diamond Tiara's abrupt shift in sympathy eliciting hurts that story too much. The songs won me over on it easily.
Season 5, Episode 19: The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows
Boy, was this a heavy allegory for spoilers, and what joys in the world are worth not having spoiled for you. Surprisingly, a scene lasting seconds effectively humanized Shining Armor more than his wife. Hobbies give you life.
Season 5, Episode 20: Hearthbreakers
A good moral on how the important thing about someone's yearly traditions is that they're happy with them, and what does the same for you should harmonize with them. What thwarts it a bit is Applejack's uncharacteristic disregard for consent.
Season 5, Episode 21: Scare Master
Now that's a twist, to say that if you don't want any part in an activity, even if it reveals talent you didn't know you had, you're under no obligation to regularly invest your time in it, even for friends. Also, relevant episode is relevant.
Season 5, Episode 22: What About Discord?
Did this episode WANT things to be left up to viewer interpretation? Whatever the case, it sure paints the ponies (not named Twilight) as oblivious to the comedic Rule of Three, and somehow, Twilight is insane AND sympathetic. Awkward.
Season 5, Episode 23: The Hooffields and McColts
It feels weird to have an environmentalism story sneak up on you when the focus has been so hard on a petty conflict over minor annoyances, but I can roll with it here. What's more odd is a big cake is baked without Pinkie Pie.
Season 5, Episode 24: The Mane Attraction
Rara made me want to joyfully cry, and I would give her all my love and protection! Seamless transition from an extravagant concert parody to a number straight from the heart. Top-tier, without question! BTW, send Svengallop to Tartarus.
Season 5, Episode 25: The Cutie Re-Mark, Part 1
And Starlight's revealed self-interest is brought to the forefront, bringing a finely executed strategy. Aside from that, the exposition gets annoyingly on the nose and long-winded. Could've spared some details. This image, though.
Season 5, Episode 26: The Cutie Re-Mark, Part 2
No point to exploring more than one alternate future when there are no obstacles. It's padding, exacerbated by Twilight being so slow and her telekinesis neglect. And why did young Starlight just stand there all glum? The nonsense!
Film 3: Equestria Girls: Friendship Games
Human Twilight differed from the pony version enough to justify her story. The Shadowbolts are fine rivals, though a few seem to come from a little underuse of the pre-existing character roster, and they get shafted hard at the very end.

Stuck with the Best Moms [Preath x Daughter!Reader]
requested by anon: Heyy! Love your writing! Could you do one where R is Preath teen daughter? And how they are doing during quarantine?
A/N: i tried to get this done when they announced their moved to man united but oh well better late than never
“Ma! I’m bored.” You whine.
Tobin chuckles at your position on the couch, as you’re upside down, head hanging off the edge.
“What are you complaining about?” Christen calls, entering the room.
“Mom, there’s nothing to do!” You exasperate and move to sit up right. Your mom rolls her eyes, taking a seat next to you.
“(Y/N), you are 17 years old. Certainly, there’s something you can find that will entertain you.”
“But I wanna do something with you guys.” You huff. Christen and Tobin soften at that and exchange a silent conversation. During the lockdown, the two forwards had been quite busy with re-inc, leaving you to your own devices.
“Have you been feeling a little neglected, kiddo?” Tobin coos, moving to the other side of you.
Leaning your head on your ma’s shoulder, your cheeks flush. “No.” You mumble.
“(Y/N), you know you can tell us anything.” Christen takes your hands in hers.
“It’s just—— When we went into lockdown, I thought we’d finally get to spend some quality time together, but you guys have just been really busy with re-inc.” You spill.
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Your mom asks, her eyebrows furrowed in concern. She knew that her and her wife’s schedules were always so busy with travel for both the national team and their respective clubs, leaving little time for all three of you to spend quality family time together.
“I didn’t want to bother you, and I know how important re-inc is to you guys.” You sigh. Because of how often either one or both of your parents were traveling, you were a very independent teenager. Therefore, you never really wanted to disturb your mothers, as you were very proud of their accomplishments both on and off the field.
“(Y/N), will you look at me?” Christen gently lifts your chin, causing you to look directly into your mom’s green orbs. “Yes, re-inc is important to us, but you are a thousand times more important to us.” She emphasizes, as Tobin nods along in agreement, rubbing your back.
“Chris is right.” Your ma adds. “And we are so sorry that we haven’t been making enough time to spend with you.”
“It’s okay.” You give your mothers a soft smile.
“We love you, (Y/N).” Christen whispers, kissing your temple. “So much.”
Tobin wraps her arms around you, pulling you in a tight hug. “How bout this?” She starts. “I’ll try and see if I can get us into Providence later today, then we can go pick up some Gilda’s on the way home, and we can watch whatever movie you want tonight.”
Your eyes widen at your ma’s suggestion, as you nod your head excitedly. Although you were already getting call ups from the national youth team and scholarship offers from many D1 schools, you were always eager to get some touches on the field, and it didn’t hurt that two of the best forwards in the world were your parents.
“Alright then. Why don’t you get changed, while I make a call to Mark, and then we’ll walk over there.” Before Tobin could even finish, you were already rushing to your room, leaving your moms to chuckle at your enthusiasm.
—————
Upon arriving to the field, you immediately pull out a ball and start juggling. Before beginning their own warmup, Christen and Tobin stop to watch their daughter, their hearts bursting with pride for the young woman they’ve raised.
The three of you spend almost two hours at the training center. Tobin and Christen put you through a couple of drills and competitions and then all three of you play a little keep away.
“Did you just meg me?!” Tobin gasps, chasing after you.
“Don’t hurt me!” You scream, giggling, as you run away from your ma, who eventually catches up to you.
You pass the ball to Christen, before Tobin tackles you to the ground, tickling your sides.
“Stop! Stop! You win!” You pant, as you try to catch your breath, admitting defeat.
“That nutmeg wasn’t very nice, kiddo.” Tobin playfully scolds.
“You were the one who taught me that!” You tease your mother, who throws her head back with a laugh.
“Alright you two.” Christen approaches with an ear-splitting grin across her face. “Let’s go get some food.” She helps the two of you up, as you pack up the balls and head over to Gilda’s.
—————
Entering the apartment, takeout in hand, you place the food on the counter, ready to dig in.
“Ah, ah ah.” Christen grabs your wrist, stopping you from opening the container. “You go shower. We’ll dish out the food and set the table.”
“But—” You protest.
“Go! You stink.” Your mom insists, sticking her tongue out at you. Pouting, you reluctantly head to your bathroom.
Once you’ve cleansed yourself off and changed into a re-inc crewneck and a pair of bike shorts, you reenter the kitchen, smiling at the sight in front of you. Tobin was finishing setting the table, whistling along to the soft hum folklore in the background, while Christen was bringing the plates of food the counter, humming to the music. You wanted to cherish these small moments with your parents, not only because of how rare they were, but also because you would be heading off to college soon.
“Kiddo!” Tobin beams, noticing your presence. “C’mon let’s eat.”
Taking your seat at the counter, you dish out everyone’s food. A couple of bites in, you let out a moan of satisfaction.
“Ugh. This is delicious.” You shove another mouthful of pasta into your mouth.
Both of your mothers share a light-hearted chuckle. “I take it you like it, love?” Christen smirks, as you nod enthusiastically, your mouth too full of food to respond.
“So, kid, anymore offers?” Tobin casually brings up, receiving a warning glare from her wife. College had been a delicate topic the past couple of months, as you were having a difficult time choosing a school that met your needs both athletically and academically, causing you a great deal of stress.
You gulp down your food. “Ummm. Yeah. I got some calls from Duke, Portland, Cal, and Washington. And USC, Stanford, UCLA, and UNC called again, wanting me to meet the rest of the team.” You mutter, fidgeting with your hands.
Tobin bounces in her seat like an excited child, going to ask you more questions. But before she can speak, Christen shoots her another glare, effectively silencing her.
“That’s exciting, dear. You excited for the Premier League to start?” Your mother smiles, before changing the subject, knowing you didn’t particularly like talking about college. Christen herself was not particularly fond of the subject either, not ready for her baby to leave her. Although, you wouldn’t be that far, considering you’d most likely be called up to the national team pretty soon.
As dinner progresses, you and your mothers catch up, discussing recent events, soccer, and even a little gossip. Tobin eventually does coax the college conversation out of you, resulting in your moms having a mini argument over Stanford versus UNC.
As you finish up dinner and clear the table, Tobin starts making some popcorn for your movie night.
“What do you wanna watch, love? It’s your choice.” Christen asks, turning on the TV and grabbing a couple of blankets.
“Can we watch Clueless?” You give her a cheeky grin, knowing your mom didn’t particularly like the chick flick.
“Of course.” Christen sighs, playfully rolling her eyes, as she kisses your forehead.
“What’re we watching?” Tobin plops down next to, popping a piece of popcorn into her mouth.
“Clueless.” You grin, as your ma throws her head back, groaning.
“Again?”
“You did say it was my choice.” You sing.
“I guess I did say that.” Tobin grumbles, snuggling into your side, Christen doing the same, so you’re sandwiched between the two women.
“Good, because it’s starting so shh.” You stuff your mouth with a handful of popcorn.
—————
Towards the end of the movie, you find your eyes slowly drooping. You move to lay down across your moms, your head in Christen’s lap, your feet across Tobin’s.
“You tired, sweetie?” Christen runs her hand through your hair.
“A little.” You mumble.
“Yeah, you played pretty hard today, kiddo.” Tobin massages your calfs.
Turning around, you look up at your parents. “Can we do something tomorrow?” You sheepishly ask. “I mean, like it doesn’t have to be as time consuming as what we did today, but maybe a game or just like sitting down for a cup of coffee.” You elaborate.
The two older women feel their hearts melt, wanting nothing more than to spend time with their daughter.
“Of course, (Y/N/N).” Tobin squeeze your leg.
“We would love that.” Christen adds, placing a kiss to your hair.
“Awesome.” You beam and turn back to face the television.
As the credits start to roll, you stretch.
“I think I’m gonna head to bed.” You yawn.
“Alright, good night, kiddo.”
“Good night, baby.”
Getting up from the couch, you give Tobin a hug and kiss Christen’s cheek. “Thanks for today, moms. I had a great day.”
“See, it’s pretty awesome being stuck inside with your parents, eh?” Tobin smirks.
“Uh, I wouldn’t go that far.” You call back to her, biting back a smile, as you make your way to your bedroom.
Although being stuck in lockdown was extremely boring, you had to admit that you had the best moms, and yeah, it was pretty awesome.

For The Dancing and The Dreaming | Jonathan Crane x Edward Nygma |
Summary: It's Valentines Day, and Edward and Jonathan are having their dance, goddamn it!
Warning: Domestic Abuse - but it’s more of a show, and they love each other. Out of Character.
Ships involved; Ivy/Harley and Selina/Bruce.
Based on: For the Dancing and the Dreaming by Mary Jane Wells, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson
Oswald Cobblepot did it every year; Valentines Day at The Iceberg Lounge, everything was bumped up a bit, and during the day, it wad filled with refined people, but during the night it was open to the Rogues. The man liked gossip, and so, it was the perfect place to listen to said gossip.
There was some people who he invited personally, such as Harvey Dent/Two-Face and Gilda, and some people he didn't know where dating, such as Ivy and Harley Quinn - though Joker also showed up, much to Harley's annoyance. Even Catwoman and Batman, much to everyone's anger, but nobody wanted to anger the kitty, and Batman was being on his best behaviour. And, to everyone's discomfort, Jonathan "Scarecrow" Crane and Edward "Riddler" Nygma.
The two were together, and it was serious. However, they very rarely worked together outside of their home - wherever that was, given the fact nobody had ever been around.
If you asked Harley Quinn, she would tell you, "it's like me and Mr. J. Though, this is a bit more mutual - doesn't mean it's healthy."
When you spot them out in the City of Gotham, on the rare occasion of work, or if they crossed passed, a full blown argument happened. Over things as big as a heist gone wrong, not enough Fear Toxin, to plain stupid as "you didn't take the trash out".
Ivy had bared witness to one of these arguments one night. She had been tending to a certain... cretin. One who had dared to cut down trees for some machine that would fill the sky with smoke, when suddenly, she spotted Riddler and Scarecrow.
"How could ya 'ave missed that alarm, boy?!" Scarecrow was yelling, practically towering over Riddler
Riddler wasn't one to cower, but he certainly looked that way now, "calm down, my dear!" His purple gloved hands were raised in worry, "it wasn't in the newest set of building plans —" Suddenly, he was struck across the face, and he landed down with a thud.
"Ya 'ave one job," snapped Scarecrow, raising one gloved finger. "Jus' tha one!"
Riddler was up in an instant, and slamming his knuckles into Scarecrow's nose, "and you could have dealt with stupid guard quicker!"
Ivy never saw the attraction of an abusive partner, Harley had one, now these two seemed just as abusive to the other. She didn't stick around to check what would happen next, finishing her task quickly, before fleeing.
Oswald had seen the two as well, though not in the abuse fashion. He had once invited them to dine at the Lounge for free three Valentines days ago, "surely you and Crane need a night out, Eddie?", and Riddler had accepted, yet when the two showed up, Scarecrow and Riddler seemed tense.
They dined on expensive food, (Scarecrow barely touching his chicken, and Riddler clearing his steak) and drank expensive red wine (Lafite Rothschild 1982), but they had looked tense, stayed silent besides ordering, muttering a thank you, and complimenting the chef - well, Riddler thanked, Scarecrow grunted.
"Trouble in paradise?" Oswald had joked, eyeing the black eye on Scarecrow's face.
The scrawny man grunted.
Batman had come across one of their domestics, however it didn't seem that way when he saw it. Now, let him clear this up, abusive relations are real, for both women and men, and sure apologising was common, then continuing, but he clearly wasn't meant to hear this. He had seen them on a roof, Jonathan tending to a busted lip on Edward's.
"I wish you didn't that hard, my dear," whined Edward, wincing, as cloth dabbed away at blood.
"'M sorry darlin'," grumbled Jonathan softly.
Another domestic then.
"It works though," Jonathan said.
"Yes, I know that. It is rather amusing for them to think you hit me behind closed doors," giggled Edward. "Though I do think you enjoy it — "
"In the bed, sure, ya masochist," Jonathan sounded like he was grinning, and Edward was flushing. "But, not out 'ere... jus' easier so no one knows, or uses ya agains' me..." He leaned forward, and pressed his scarred lips to Edward's soft cheek. His eyes caught Batman's and he scowled, "now come on!" Scarecrow's tone turned harsher, dragging Riddler up by his hair, and whispered something.
"Ugh, and here I thought you was being sweet," Riddler said.
Batman always took things like with a grain of salt. Is the fights just a front? Or, what?
Catwoman should know, of course. She knew many things, but Scarecrow was alive, she had a soft spot for Edward. Maybe it was a front? To keep people off their backs, and they did genuinely love each other, that the way they acted outside was a big show. It seemed like something Riddler would do.
Either way, their relationship was an uncomfortable topic, just as uncomfortable as Joker and Harley's was.
Riddler and Scarecrow were being shot wary looks, though neither cared, and sat across from each other blankly. Scarecrow barely touched his chicken, and Riddler ate his steak, and drank expensive red wine Lafite Rothschild 1982. Oswald found it odd they ordered the same thing, though this time, they were talking - albeit quietly.
"I like Valentines Day," Edward said.
"O' course ya do," scoffed Scarecrow.
"You look it too, dear," Edward reminded.
Jonathan fought off a smile. "No, I like Halloween," Scarecrow said instead with a grin.
"Valentines Day is your second," reminded Edward.
"Yeah, yeah it is," Jonathan finally agreed, sipping his wine. "I've never seen this many people look uncomfortable in our presence..." He mumbled, seeing everyone shoot them wary looks, as if they didn't understand why they liked each other.
"Well, you're used to it..." Edward shrugged.
Jonathan couldn't deny that, "is this from out little... act?"
"Must be," hummed Edward. "It's been seventeen years, you'd think they'd be used to our outside appearance."
Music had started, and Harley had dragged Ivy to dance, even though it was slow, and steady, Harley was dancing like crazy, making Ivy dance too, while Batman and Catwoman found themselves slow dancing, actually nearly everyone was slow dancing with their partners. A few sat and watched with smiles, and Joker scowled.
Edward and Jonathan perked up.
"I know this song," Jonathan whispered, and faint flush on his cheeks, which grew when Edward began whistling along. He looked to him, "don't, because if ya sing, I'll start singin'." It was tradition with this song; they didn't have many, besides every Valentines Day being the same food, same drink, if possible of course, but this song... it was tradition. Whenever it came on. It was like reflex.
"I'll swim and sail on savage seas," Edward sang quietly, taking Jonathan's thin, scarred hand. "With never a fear of drowning..." Jonathan looked away, not indicating if he heard him or not. This tradition came into flourish ten years into their relationship; Jonathan had heard it a few times, and Edward had... well, he sang it when he... "And gladly ride the waves of life, if you would marry me..." Smiled Edward; he proposed with this song. "No scorching sun nor freezing cold," he caressed Jonathan's face softly, and Jonathan was unable to fight off a smile, "will stop me on my journey." He stood up, and held his hand out, offering, not expecting though. "If you will promise me your heart," he smiled, "and love..."
This was the part where Jonathan would take over, stood in their apartment, singing and dancing together.
A few people had stopped, and Oswald, who admittedly cared for Edward more than he should, and Selina, who cared for Edward too much, was prepared to console him when Scarecrow pushed him away, or hit him, when they had to get Scarecrow out.
"And love me fer eternity," Jonathan sang. Neither were good, but they liked it. He moved onto the dance floor, in front of everyone, not caring who saw, and Edward watched amazed. "My dearest one, my darlin' dear. Yer riddl'n' words astound me..." He changed the lyrics, as usual. He held a hand up, and Edward moved onto the opposite side. He held his other arm up, the two wrist to wist, and walked around each other. "But I've no need fer mighty deeds," they swapped arms, and Jonathan smiled and Edward laughed, "when I feel yer arms around me."
The two held hands, crossing them, and began jumping, kicking their feet in the middle, "but I would bring you rings of gold!" Edward sang, as he got on one knee, and led Jonathan in a circle around him, and Jonathan jumped over the back leg, with a laugh. "I'd even sing you poetry!"
"Oh, would ya?" Laughed Jonathan, then gasped as Edward pulled him closer, chest to chest.
Edward held his hands softly, "and I would keep you from all harm," he raised a finger. They then went chest to shoulder, then chest to shoulder on the opposite side, "if you would stay beside me!"
Jonathan walked around Edward, who was stood this time, "I have no use fer rings o' gold." He now had his back to Edward, his arms crossed, holding Edward's hands, the two dancing on their toes, side to side, "I care not fer yer poetry!" Suddenly, Edward suddenly spun him out, "I only want yer hand to hold!"
Edward, laughing, sang, "I only want you near me!"
The two were now spinning together. But they weren't facing each other body wise, but side to side, slightly, dancing and laughing, as they sang together, kicking their legs out.
"To love and kiss to sweetly hold, for the dancing and the dreaming," the two sang together, smiling, speeding up. Edward rather proper speech clashing with Jonathan's Southern accent, (perfect if you asked them).
"Through all life's dark fears, and frights," Edward sang, having always changed the lyrics.
"I'll keep your laugh inside me!" The two sang again.
"I'll swim and sail a savage seas, with never a fear of drowning! I'd gladly ride the waves so white! And you will marry me!"
Suddenly, Edward picked Jonathan up, and spun him in the air, and Jonathan laughed. The skinnier man was lowered, and the two hugged, sharing a soft kiss.
Jonathan didn't hit him like they thought he would. Instead, he gently tapped Edward's chest, "if anyone comes after us, it's on you."
"Deal, my dear," assured Edward. "This means you can stop hitting me?"
"Oh, gladly, darlin'," smiled Jonathan, caressing Edward's cheek. "I love you..."
Edward smiled, "I love you too."
"Ya know what else we do on our Anniversary?" Asked Jonathan, rhetorically.
Of course Edward knew, there was three things to do yet. "Break into that jewellery store?"
Jonathan nodded, "that's one."
"Have sex," Edward grinned, with bright teeth. "Passionate love making?"
"That's two."
It got considerably softer now.
"Then aftercare, and sleep?"
"My favourite."
The domestic life suited them, the two disliked to admit, but it's what happened when you've been together romantically for seventeen years.
The next someone saw Edward and Jonathan out; Riddler had messed up - not that he would admit it, and anyone who pointed it out, died by Scarecrow's hand, while he coddled Riddler... their act was over.
