GEU ANGNYEOREUL JOSIMHASEYO! (그 악녀를 조심하세요!)
Beware the Villainess! / Yeolmae AKA Berry (story) & Blue Canna (art) & Ppongtta Mat Screw Bar (original story)
Complete, with 128 chapters
F/M; Comedy, Fantasy, Shoujo + dom f, sub m, role rev, fem m, long hair m, queer & ambqueer
SUMMARY: Unlike most villainesses, Melissa Foddebrat is not destined for the gallows or a life of misery. She is a beautiful but sharp-tongued young woman whose childish attitude is merely an annoyance to those around her. However, for a modern Korean woman who has been reincarnated in Melissa's body, none of that matters. She is inside the world of a novel she once read, reliving the life of a wealthy duke's daughter. Melissa rejects the idea of continuing down the path of villainy. Instead, she strives toward a life of leisure, and to achieve this, she must first end her engagement with the womanizing and simple-minded crown prince. But severing her ties to an undesirable future is more challenging than expected, as the prince proves to be a stubborn opponent. Melissa must rely on her resilience from her former life to shake off the troubles of her new one and instead pursue what—and who—she truly wants.

Since we literally do a parallel talk on two post I decided it's better to keep doing by ask
First. Tell me you watched Utena. One of the core theme of the story revolve around feminity, gender role and even more THE PRINCE FEMALE CHARACTER. Also I did like characters who are seen as prince but want to be feminine and in itself it's fine! But you do notice the pattern after a while.
Also do you watch How I attended an all guy mixer? I forgot to keep watching but I find the theme interesting even if it mostly comedy because it stay in surface for now.
You must know beware of the villainess already though and even if Melissa had her lot of blushing it was a real power fantasy to see her love interest admire her STRENGTH not only how sweet she can be.
Maybe you know already but there's also trophy husband....even though I didn't finish it yet and I find the romance a bit confusing? But thank god the love interest is mostly a sub
But yeah again I'll go through your blog to have more and support the author by getting them in digital if it's not aware in my country
I keep yapping but I also can't wait for "this monster want to eat me" animated 👀
this is so embarrassing because i've been meaning to watch Utena since i was a teen, but by then i was already mostly a manga reader instead of an anime watcher. i told myself that i'd get to it when i felt like watching a long-ish anime again and i still haven't 😭
and yeah female tomboy characters who want to be feminine would have been fine if it wasn't nearly EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. at this point, it's already a trope i really resent and hate because every time i'm in the mood to read about a cool manly female character i have to deal with this shit.
how i attended an all guy's mixer is definitely on my radar and even though i have seen the cross-dressing female characters also dressed as girls here and there, that definitely won't stop me. it kind of bothers me that they all seem to be straight (though i haven't fully looked into it maybe they aren't!), but beggars can't be choosers. it's another pet peeve of mine how there is nearly no implied bisexuality for any genderbent or crossdressing girl (as always they can't go too much to 'the other side' and need to be recognizable as girls in as many ways possible). when a girl is genderbending or crossdressing there is always the idea that she is "not serious" about being a prince for the girls and needs to have her heart always stolen by a guy (so she can feel like a girl etc. etc.). it's that old thing about the girl from an all-girls school fooling around but when it's time to grow up and get serious it always has to be a guy.
it's true that i could read yuri (and i do! though not a lot of them there either and when there are they are mostly just eye candy) but the point i want to make is that i wish the masculine girls who end up with boys weren't always so limited to them. cross-dressing and genderbending is not all within the queer scene, but a lot, if not most of them are and it pains me to only see the same old thing and the idea that only a guy could possibly steal her heart. it seems to me that it's only just another way to keep the female character in the GIRL box as much as possible. not even kashima can fully escape this notion because she has been crazy about hori since moment one in a way that her little outings with a bunch of girls at the same time is seen as superficial compared to it and like it's not "the real deal" like her devotion to hori is.
i have read beware the villainess! and i did enjoy the couple, but my one problem (romance-wise) with this manwha is that it teases a three-way relationship way too much for me to be fully satisfied with her only choosing nine at the end hahaha and i don't exactly mind dominant female characters who blush per se. dominant girls are still human and can still fall deeply in love and be silly with it. i love seeing the many sides of a character always! but authors don't always know how to strike that perfect balance like they do for blushing male characters who still get to be the dominant ones. a lot of times it crosses the line into "of course the female character needs to be wooed instead of wooing!" unfortunately that is very prevalent, but i don't remember beware the villainess falling into this particular pitfall 🥳 !! if anything it stayed too much on the surface level romance tropes instead of getting in the thick of it and having melissa actually want to woo nine, even if she is still pretty dominant without doing it. (BTW i believe trophy husband is in my list!)
i will also be a happy happy person when the anime for this monster wants to eat me finally gets released, but if course i had to go against the flow with that manga as well because from what i realize a lot of people like miko way more than shiori and shiori is probably my favorite character LOL. at least i already know i'm going to win this one hehehehe sometimes i get to be petty and be like "well i think you guys just dont get the point of this one, sawrry" and who's gonna rise against me when this story is literally about shiori and hinako hahahahaha 😈👹
