Since I'm a fan of stand-up comedians like Maria Bamford, Kate Berlant, and Aparna Nancherla, I'm always seeking out more female voices in the male-dominated field of comedy—particularly new works by women comics.
As such, I wanted to highlight two female comedians who have recently been appearing on my social media feed to my great delight!
First, Sara Schaefer's Comedy Central showcase has been officially uploaded on YouTube, and it is absolutely wonderful. I first read Sara's comedic writing when she was an editor for Best Week Ever Blog, along with Michelle Collins and Dan Hopper, so I was already familiar with her witty way of thinking.
youtube
However, this special is so entertaining and fun that I'm thinking I need to see her perform live sometime soon haha
Second, if you've looked at my header before, you'll know I am a HUGE fan of Garfunkel and Oates.
Well, it looks like one-half of the comedy duo—Kate Micucci—has been releasing music videos for her upcoming children's album called My Hat, and they are all delightful.
Here's her newest one about the Ghosts of Pasadena!
youtube
Fun fact: Kate's music video director is Caitlin Gerard, whom Bo Burnham fans will easily recognize as his love interest Amy on the MTV gem Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous.
And Bo knows both Kate and Riki Lindhome really well! Since they are all musical comedians, Garfunkel and Oates often performed in the same venues as Bo, AND they participated in a Nerdist bowling game together. Plus, Kate and Riki were at the premiere of Bo's directorial debut. So cool!
youtube
I hope you enjoy the videos, and keep it here for more comedy fun! ✌🏼🐔

True Vampires-Sondra London
I've almost finished reading the book True Vampires-Sondra London.
The author had a relationship with Gerard John Schaefer and his signature is in the section of the book, that is about Erzsébet Báthori (Elizabeth Bathory in English)
I wasn't expecting a American serial killer's signature in the book, so it's interesting that the signature is in this specific section of the book.
Sondra London also had a relationship with Henry Rollings
(The Gainesville Ripper, the inspiration for the Scream horror film franchise)
I've always been curious if Sondra London was aware that either man was a serial killer a the time she knew them or had a relationship with them.
This book is about a lot of people that are role-playing fantasists, that are delusional, mentally ill, mentally/emotionally/psychologically unstable/damaged people that were suffering from Clinical Vampirism and claimed they were a "self-proclaimed Satanist" a "self-proclaimed Vampire"
If you are genuinely a Satanist, an Occultist, a Spiritual, sanguinarian, psychic or tantric vampire you don't need to be "self-proclaimed".
A lot of the people mentioned in the book except Nico Claux are attention-seeking, delusional, mentally ill, edgelords.
In my opinion Nico Claux is a totally different calibre of person in comparison to the other people mentioned in the book.
Nico Claux, Gilles de Rais, Vlad the Impaler, Erzsébet Báthori are the most interesting to me.
Nico Claux isn't delusional, mentally ill, and never claimed to be something he isn't, he was serious about his intention, practices witchcraft, i've not read about anyone that practices Necromancy to invoke The spirit of Vlad the Impaler before, it was interesting and creepy to read about.
I love Nico's artwork that was used in Sondra London's book, it includes one of my favourite paintings-a self portrait of Nico when he was younger and he had long hair, the painting has a dark, angry, vampiric/ghoul vibe about it.

8-year-old Wendy Brown Stevenson and 9-year-old Peggy Rahn are bound together by tragedy. On the 29th of December, 1969, both girls disappeared near the Pompano Beach Municipal Pier in Florida.
Since schools were closed and families were off work for the festive period, the beach was busy with both local families and vacationers. Wendy and Peggy hadn’t met each other before that day at the beach but they hit it off immediately and spent the early afternoon playing together at the shore front. At around 1PM, they asked if they could go down the beach to where a man was giving out ice cream and cake before scurrying off. They were reported missing when they never returned.
The first promising lead came around 12 hours after their disappearance. A store clerk at a 7-Eleven at Fourth Avenue and East Atlantic Boulevard, less then two miles from the beach where they disappeared, said he saw two little girls enter the store with a man at around midnight. As the man purchased ice cream, Coca Cola, candy, and cigarettes, the two girls - dressed in bathing suits - stood nearby. The clerk said she didn’t know about the disappearance until an investigator came into the store and showed workers photographs of Peggy and Wendy.
The 7-Eleven clerk described the man with the two girls as a white man in his 20s. She said he was around 6 feet tall and around 200 pounds with sandy-coloured hair, grey eyes and a bump on his nose. She said he drove a 1967 metallic blue Chevrolet. A composite sketch of the suspect was drawn up and distributed throughout the country. Several weeks later, a car matching the description was spotted heading north near Soperton, Georgia, but by the time police responded, the car was long gone.
Eventually the tips dissipated and the case went cold. One of the main suspects, however, was the serial killer, Gerard John Schaefer, who was linked to 30 murders of girls and women in Florida. While he initially denied any involvement, in 1989, he wrote a letter in which he bragged about killing and cannibalizing the two girls. He was never charged with their disappearance and was murdered in prison in 1995.
To date, Wendy and Peggy still remain missing.

Honestly, hunter schafer’s diary post, the manhunt book by Felken-Martin, and just the general violent and sexual ways TIMs talk about women and wanting to punish women and wanting to be women to be degraded and objectived and treated like a woman in a torture porn is very reminiscent of sexual sadist serial killers who murdered and raped women. Particularly Gerard John Schaefer, the posing as a teenage girl to talk to men, the panty fetish, the fantasies and writings, the torture and rape and outright misogynistic language and pleasure they get from it all
it's the autogynephilia, the ultimate hatred of women, the ultimate power play. because they demand our participation, that we assume the role of oppressors so they can revel in being degraded for fun all from their position of safety and power. it wouldn't be any fun if women weren't forced to play along. we're just talking dolls to them that need to parrot the right words and pantomime the right actions. and males love destroying dolls.
#answered#it's honestly sick and evil but here we are. unwilling cast members in this play from hell#autogynephilia

Scientists have identified about 9,000 species of springtails, but that number might represent just a fraction of their global species richness. Credit...Frank Ashwood
Excerpt from this story from the New York Times:
They’re dirt-dwelling invertebrates, but, in a sense, they’re the real backbone of Earth’s carbon cycle.
Thousands of species of mites and springtails, living in soil all around the world, provide a crucial service by munching organic matter like fallen leaves and wood, transferring its planet-warming carbon into the ground and releasing nutrients that help new plants grow.
But now, a new analysis that combined data from 38 different studies on the organisms suggests that drought in some parts of the world, often supercharged by climate change, are killing them off at alarming rates.
“It is important to take care of these critters in particular because we know so little about them,” said Ina Schaefer, a soil invertebrate ecology researcher at the University of Göttingen in Germany.
While some of these organisms live deep within the soil, others spend most of their lives scuttling around on the surface. Scientists don’t fully understand exactly how they break down decaying organic matter, but new molecular research shows springtails actually have special genes for the job.
(That’s not their only talent: Some springtails are about the size of a grain of sand and can fling themselves into the air like circus acrobats, spinning up to 500 times per second. Scientists think it could be a way to escape predators.)
Mites and springtails have not been widely studied, despite their importance, but scientists do know that some of the soft-bodied creatures are very sensitive to moisture in their environment.
When the soil dries up during times of aridity they, too, can dry up, shrivel and die. On average, their populations shrink by a whopping 39 percent during long stretches without rain, according to the analysis, which was published this month in Global Change Biology.
And, the more severe the dry spell, the more severe the reduction in their abundance, said Philip Martin, a researcher at the Basque Center for Climate Change in Leioa, Spain, and one of the lead authors of the study. Under extreme conditions, “you’re losing way more than just that 39 percent figure,” Dr. Martin said.
Earlier research has indicated that the abundance of springtail populations is broadly linked to heat. Each degree of Celsius increase in temperature corresponds with a drop of springtail populations by almost 10 percent, according to a 2023 analysis.
“They really do bad,” Gerard Martínez-De León, a doctoral candidate in terrestrial ecology at the University of Bern in Switzerland, said of springtails during heat waves. “If there are very high temperatures for, let’s say, one week, two weeks, one month, this affects them directly. Probably as much as the lack of moisture does.”
Droughts also change and shrink the populations of fungi living in the soil, according to research published in January, which is what springtails predominantly feed on.
Yet, there are a few factors playing in favor of soil dwellers.

Price: [price_with_discount] (as of [price_update_date] - Details) [ad_1] 36 Disturbing True Crime Stories of Murder and Deception Readers Love This Series - Over 7,000 Five-Star Ratings on Amazon & Goodreads Three Book Collection: Volumes 7, 8, and 9 of the True Crime Case Histories Series (2022) *** This series can be read in any order ***If you’re a fan of true crime, you’re undoubtedly familiar with the big-name cases: Ted Bundy, BTK, David Berkowitz, Christopher Watts, Diane Downs, Casey Anthony, Jeffrey Dahmer, Jodi Arias, Ed Gein, etc. The list of well-known, notorious cases throughout history is seemingly endless. Books, websites, podcasts, streaming television series, and magazines are filled with their abhorrent tales of mayhem. They’re some of the most foul killers the world has ever known. In my books, I do my best to find stories you may not have heard of. To do this, I count on my readers to send me stories that may have gone forgotten and aren't found all over the internet. Inside, you'll find 36 True Crime stories from the 100 years. Many of which you may never have heard of. You'll read the story of five-year-old Stephanie Hebert, who walked only three houses down her quiet suburban sidewalk and disappeared forever. Her case went cold for forty years before other children from her neighborhood came forward in their adulthood with information leading to the killer. There’s the story of the sadistic mother who viewed her children only as the spawn of their demon father, torturing them for their entire short lives. You’ll also read of the deranged husband and wife team who started their own cult and made it their life’s mission to rid the world of witches. Another story tells the disheartening tale of a toddler’s skeleton found in a suitcase on the side of the road. Motorcyclists discovered her mother’s skeleton more than 600 miles away. Five years had passed, with no one even realizing they were missing. There’s also the heartbreaking story of a single mom, drowning in debt, who did the unthinkable for insurance money. Many of the stories in this book feature women killers, three of whom took the time to meticulously dismember their victims—a task that can take great strength. Another woman manipulated her two teenage boys into killing for her. Plus many more disturbing stories. The stories in this volume are shocking and exhibit human behavior at its absolute worst. Pure evil. However, these things really happen in the world. We may never understand what goes on in a killer’s mind, but at least we can be better informed. Included in this volume: Stephen McDaniel, Lauren Giddings, Leonard Tyburksi, Dorothy Tyburksi, Cheryl Knuckle, Greg Rowe, Ellen Boehm, Bevan Spencer von Einem, Alan Barnes, Neil Muir, Peter Stogneff, Richard Kelvin, Omaima Nelson, Betty Freiberg, Kimberly Hricko, Steven Hricko, Hilma Marie Witte, Sky McDonough, Leanna Walker, Carol Carlson, Daniel Carlson, Gerard John Schaefer, Evans Ganthier, Rebecca Koster, Gary Vintner, Mikhail Drachev, Chris Andrews, Dennis Tsoukanov, Sean Southland, Konstantin Simberg, Jason Massey, Brian King, Christina Benjamin, Sheila Keen, Debbie Warren, Michael Warren, Marlene Ahrens, Charles Albright, Travis Lewis, Martha McKay, Grant Amato, Cody Amato, Chad Amato, Margaret Amato, Robert Willy Pickton, Marty Dill, Heather Teague, Joe Ball, Jared Chance, Ashley Young, Theresa Knorr, Robert Knorr, William Knorr, Jason Vendrick Franklin, Stephanie Hebert, John Joubert, Danny Jo Eberle, Christopher Walden, Ricky Stetson, Anna Maria Cardona, Lazaro Figueroa, Charles Schmid, Jeremy Gipson, Jessica Thornsberry, Justina Morley, Domenic Coia, Nicholas Coia, Eddie Batzig, Jason Sweeney, Angela Stoltd, Jimmy Sheaffer, Vincent Tabak, Joanna Yeates, Edmund Arne Matthews, Lisa Ann Mather, Daniel Holdom, Karlie Pearce-Stevenson, Khandalyce Pearce-Stevenson, James Carson, Michael Bear, Suzan Bear, Susan Barnes Carson From the Publisher
