Now that Young Sheldon is over I feel comfortable with saying that it was actually a pretty decent sitcom about an imperfect but wholesome working class American family with the horrendous misfortune of being connected to The Big Bang Theory

Preggers J.M
Pairing : JJ Maybank X OC
Summary: in which John B tells his sister that he got Sarah pregnant and has to tell his sister and JJ
Warnings: pregnancy (wrap it before you tap it people), John B being an idiot, swearing, angst, fluff, talk about Big John’s death, mentions of Luke Maybank, kinda funny
Inspired from Young Sheldon and Georgie telling Mary and George Mandy is pregnant
“Hey, I gotta tell you something.” John B came into the living room.
“Yeah, okay.” I said absentmindedly, continuing to read my book. When John B didn’t answer, I looked up at him. “Are you okay?” His face was white and he looked like he was going to be sick.
“Come on.” I followed him as he walked back to his room.
“What’s going on?” I asked. JJ was there too, and I looked between the boys.
“You should sit down.” JJ offered.
“What is going on?” I demanded this time, still not sitting down.
“Well, uh.” John B didn’t know what to say.
“Sweet Lord. Stop acting like somebody died.” I rolled my eyes, annoyed that neither of them would spit it out.
“Kinda the opposite actually.” John B muttered. I didn’t get what he was hinting at.
“Well?” I demanded, starting to grow angry with the boys. “One of you tell me what is going on!”
“I got a girl,” John B took a deep breath. “Pregnant.”
I stared blankly at him before laughing. When JJ laid a hand on my shoulder, I looked back at him, and then to John B again. “You’re joking right?”
“Oh now I do need to sit down,” The words tumbled out of my mouth as my legs trembled. JJ came up behind me and guided me to sit on John B’s bed.
“That’s not all.” JJ said, urging John B to keep going.
“Uh well.” John B trailed off.
“What do you mean - that’s not all?” I asked, horrified.
“Buckle up,” JJ told me.
“Well, uh, it’s Sarah.” John B admitted.
“Cameron?” I demanded, shocked, alarmed, and mad. I stood up, walking across the room.
“What kind of Kook sleeps with a Progue?” I demanded, pacing.
“Obviously the kind that was lied to about status.” John B said, defending Sarah. I stared at him blankly for a mole before turning to JJ.
“What are we going to do?” I asked, still horrified.
“That’s what we’re figuring out.” JJ said, voice as calm as he could make it.
“Are you going to marry her? That’s what most people do.”
“I think so.” John B said, fully on board with getting married to Sarah Cameron.
“Hell no!” JJ chided, not on board.
“What do you mean, no?” I asked him. “He got her pregnant and that’s what people do in this town when they get pregnant before marriage!”
“Lily, she’s a Cameron!” JJ reminded me.
“Well, what choice does he have?” I argued back.
“She’s not gonna marry him!” JJ said, gesturing to John B.
“What’s wrong with me?” John B asked, confused to why JJ thought Sarah wouldn’t marry him.
“You’re an idiot, you’re irresponsible, you live in a pig sty most of the time, and you’re known to pee in the sink.” JJ listed off, confused to how John B didn’t know these things. “Care to jump in?” JJ looked at me for help.
Before I could say anything, there was a knock at the door. “Hello?” Pope called to us. I looked to JJ in horror. Why was Pope here?
“Yeah, Pope?” I called back.
“I was just wondering where everyone was.”
“Uh,” I stammered. “We’re just in here talking.” I tried to sound normal. “We’ll be out in a little bit. Is everything okay?”
“I’m fine, but Kiara is watching a scary movie called Jeepers Creepers.” He told us.
“I don’t know what that is,” I admitted to the boys.
“That ones rough.” John B filled in.
“Not good.” JJ added.
I stammered again, trying to cover. “We’ll be right back out.” He relented and went back to the living room where Kie was. “You’re going to have to bring her over.” I told John B, finality in my voice.
“Why?” He asked, confused again.
“Cuz she’s having our niece, you dumb son of a bitch!” JJ told him, rolling his eyes.
“JJ!” I chided, scolding him. I was trying hard to get them to stop swearing at each other and to be nicer in general. “But, what he said.” I relented, turning back to John B.
“I’ll ask her, but she’s not very happy with me right now.”
“Well, I like her already!” JJ admitted, rolling his eyes again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Later that night, I was sitting on the deck smoking a cigarette and watching the stars because I was stressed. I tried to wipe the ashes off the table when JJ came out. He hated when I smoked.
“Relax, you earned this one.” He said, very tired.
“Thank you,” I told him as he closed the door.
“You coming back to bed?” He questioned, taking steps closer to me.
“In a few minutes.”
JJ sighed and took the spot next to me, taking a big sigh. “Kinda déjà vu, isn’t it?” He said, referring to how we were the parents of our friend group.
“Kinda. I wanna be furious at him, but how can I?” He was going to be a dad. And he was trying to own up to it.
“The trick is to forget we’re the parents of the group and then it was easy.” I stifled a small laugh and JJ gave me the smile I fell in love with.
“It’s so crazy, when dad left, I thought everything was over, but then John B really needed me.”
“Remember his crazy head of hair?” JJ asked, smiling.
“And just like that, it was the best thing that could’ve happened to us, making us step up.”
“What kinda cigarette are you smoking over there?” He joked to me. I gave him a very small smile at his attempt to be funny.
“Ugh, so what do we do now?” I asked, trying to clear my head.
“We don’t have a lot of choices.” JJ told me. “We’re gonna help him raise a kid. And uh, that Cameron girl, is gonna be apart of our lives in some shape or form, until you know, we’re dead.”
“What do you mean shape or form?” I asked confused. “John B’s gotta marry her.”
“No, Lily, he doesn’t.” JJ said, sitting back in his chair.
“How are we supposed to tell people in this town that they aren’t getting married and having a child out of wedlock?” I demanded. “You know what this town does to people.”
“It’s nobody’s business.” JJ said plainly, making me roll my eyes.
“It’s a small town, J!” I reminded him. “Everything is everyone’s business.”
“You ever stop and think that maybe she doesn’t want to marry a progue?”
“Well, we’re trying to change that. Maybe with tax season.”
“Alright, you’re just being ridiculous.” JJ told me, getting annoyed and standing up, clearly done with the conversation.
“I’m being a small town woman.” I told him as he went back into the house. I stood up and went into the house and knocked on John B’s door. When he opened it, I told him flatly, “When you were born, I was very happy, but that doesn’t mean I’m not mad at you!” I walked away before he could respond, walking back to my room.
My Ever-so changing opinions : TV show version
Tumblr media
I will go from the two most controversial (in my opinion) to going over one by one.
You love but everyone hates : Riverdale, it's more wattpad then the actual wattpad movies ya know??? Do I take the series seriously? No. Do I like it as a series for its storytelling, characters? Not even a bit. Do I find it so entertaining because it's like it's written by a suger high seven year old who just loves sex? Yeah. It's like being high without the weed. The story is shit, the characters are shit but when you off all your brain cells and just watch. It becomes my favorite wattpad comedy.
You hate but everyone loves : Big bang theory, I have the opposite feeling with this one. I love the characters, they are iconic but I can't help but take them seriously ya know? The show is for nerds but it makes fun of nerds. It's dated in some areas and honestly ever romantic relationship except Amy and Sheldon made me very uncomfortable. But even so, I genuinely likes the characters so much so that Young Sheldon is in my top 10 TV shows.
Favorite TV show : Heartstopper, my heart stoped watching this. I am a simple bi girl who was SO DAMN happy with Nick. I am a simple girl, who loves Charlie's story. I am a simple girl who compared my bff with Teo. I am a simple girl who may or may not have a mini crush on Ellie--- you get my point.
Favorite protagonist : Fiona from shameless, I like her. She is like very comforting and loving but bites and is just tired you know? Like she was one of the first protagonists to make me cry. Shameless is pretty much a series that has many main character's but Fiona is the center head of the story in my opinion.
Favorite Deuteragonist : stiles stilinski from Teen Wolf, I am a very simple girl.
Favorite Antagonist : Void stiles from Teen Wolf, a very very simple girl.
Best story : Anne with an E, whenever I see someone talking about this series they mainly focus on the romance which is pretty good but the characters, their stories and the messages are genuinely great. I like almost everything about this story. That being said, I am still watching it, I am a slow watcher give me a break but from what I see, This is worth the watch.
Favorite Intro : Got a secret. Can you keep it swear on this one you'll save~ better lock it in your pocket, taking this one to the grave~ *nostalgia rushing in me.
Have not watched but want to : Young royals, I have heard it's good. The cast seems intriguing but I just didn't have the time :-(
Best cinematography : Stranger Things season 3.
Favorite ending : Heartstopper season 3.
Favorite season : Teen wolf season 3B.
Favorite pilot episode : Pretty little liars, the first episode brought in so much intrigue and levels of mystery that me who watched it after it's downfall was hooked. Even though I knew it would lead to shitty reveals, it is still very well done.
Favorite episode : Big time rush, last episode. It made me smile.
Would like to watch again : Hannah Montana, I miss my childhood.
Would never watch again : Riverdale, do I find it funny? Yeah. Will I watch it again? Nope.
Favorite plot twist : Young Sheldon, George senior not actually cheating on Mary and it being just Mary cosplaying. They did it very well and made it believable to why Sheldon as an adult would still believe that George cheated while maintaining that the man was a loving father and husband. It also hit hard after his death.
Should have more attention : Anne with an E. And also heartstoppers but it already does thankfully.
*points at @fandom-stealer * do your thing.
We always knew it was coming.
From the moment Young Sheldon was announced in 2016, fans of The Big Bang Theory wondered how the spinoff would address Sheldon’s father’s death.
For a long time, the show’s writers didn’t have to think about how they would deal with it. It was something way off in the distance while they built a sweet family comedy.
But that only made the inevitable more difficult, since viewers grew to love George Cooper Sr. (Lance Barber), a kind man who usually didn’t understand his genius son (Iain Armitage), but was always proud of him.
Maybe it doesn’t have to happen, we hoped. Young Sheldon has changed plenty of stuff adult Sheldon said about his childhood on The Big Bang Theory, and maybe this would be another one.
But we knew in our hearts that that would be too big of a change. George wasn’t going to make it to the end of Young Sheldon.
And in the third-to-last episode of the series, “A New Home and a Traditional Texas Torture,” it happened. George Cooper Sr. died of a heart attack.
How Young Sheldon Handled George’s Death
The Coopers were on the verge of big changes. Sheldon was preparing to move to California for graduate school at Caltech, while George, Mary (Zoe Perry), and Missy (Raegan Revord) were in the early stages of moving to Houston for George’s new job as a football coach at Rice University. It was a dream come true for him.
Sheldon was mad at his parents for the move, because he felt like he wouldn’t have a home anymore. He doesn’t do well with change, and he was facing a huge change in the form of his own cross-country move.
That morning, George went off to work like any other day. By the afternoon, the whole family was gathered, waiting for him to come home so they could take a family photo in a field of bluebells before Sheldon moves away.
There was a knock on the door, and Mary opened it to find George’s co-workers Tom (Rex Linn) and Wayne (Doc Farrow) standing there, looking upset. They informed her that George had suffered a heart attack, and he was gone.
Mary, Missy, and Connie (Annie Potts) started crying and hugging each other, while Sheldon sat down in a chair, expressionless, obviously too stunned to even react.
It was by far the saddest moment there’s ever been on Young Sheldon, and probably The Big Bang Theory too. These are not shows that are known for being tearjerkers, but they turned on the waterworks in this episode.
Young Sheldon co-creator Chuck Lorre often puts a “vanity card” in the end credits of episodes of his many shows. It’s a little personal note he writes about whatever is on his mind. They don’t always have something to do with the episode, but sometimes they do. This one did.
Here’s what Lorre wrote, via Chuck Lorre Productions.
"Eighteen years ago, when we were writing and producing The Big Bang Theory, it seemed like a good idea to imagine that Sheldon's childhood was deeply disrupted by the loss of his father. No one could have thought that someday we would regret that decision. That someday is now."
"There were a lot of tears on stage when this episode's last scene was shot. A reminder that we had all fallen in love with a fictional character. Which is, itself, a reminder to love the characters fin our life who are real. To do otherwise, is to live with regret.
And Lance Barber was just happy to be there until (almost) the end. “I was emotionally prepared for this from the pilot, you know?” he told TVLine. “At least the potential of it. I was just thankful for every day, and every season, and every episode, I got to be on, knowing that potentially they could explore that before the show ended. So, mostly, I was grateful to get to the end.”
Young Sheldon’s two-part finale will deal with the aftermath of George’s death, and we’re glad it’s a week away, because we need some time to prepare.
So I bet I'm not the first to posit this, but anyhow ... I've seen reviewers and commenters online trying to make the image of the dad from Young Sheldon fit with how adult Sheldon describes him in The Big Bang Theory. Of course we know the real reason is the writers didn't come up with George until years after TBBT started, and hillbilly stories about him fit the rule of funny, etc etc.
So just work with me, here, thinking of rational causation is what fanfic writers do.
My reverse-engineering theory (heh) is that the unflattering portrait Sheldon paints to his friends later stems mostly from unresolved grief over George's traumatic death. I think it set back what starting social development we DO see from him in YS. He pushed down the grief and anger like he thought Spock would, but the anger later takes the form of telling terrible stories about his dad ... so he won't miss him as much. Later, when YS catches up with all this and doesn't match the TBBT lore, and Sheldon eases up on his attitude and has to start displaying warmer feelings toward his dad, in-universe that can be attributed to growth and ability to better process negative feelings, thanks to being around his friends, especially Penny and Amy.
Mary does the same thing in early seasons to a lesser degree - same reason, rule of funny. Obviously she would have been probably even more traumatized by her husband's death, but she can also handle grief better ... so it sort of evens out?
(Also, how YS explained the dad's "infidelity" Sheldon walked in on did make me laugh ...)
My super bizarre Christmas dream
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had the weirdest dream ever, I'll try to tell it as clearly as I can, because it's very confusing. I dreamed that there was also a Christmas special on Netflix, I saw the cover and even the title, but I don't remember the title, in the exhibition part there were Raj and Stuart wearing sweaters with embroidered reindeer and they were holding boxes and entering a restaurant that, believe it or not, belonged to the two of them, that's right, Raj and Stuart opened a restaurant together. But that's not the worst part. Bert runs into the two of them and asks how they are and where the rest of the gang is, Raj and Stuart look at each other, wondering whether or not to tell, they decide to tell and now my dream/Christmas special series changes to a room, a living room in a cabin with all the wooden furniture, with a crackling fireplace all decorated with stockings, the whole cabin was decorated in the Christmas spirit, especially the room. Inside this room is the entire cast of Young Sheldon, mini Sheldon was present, but he wasn't our Sheldon, he was Sheldon and Amy's son, and even George was there, alive and everything. From what I remember, it seems that Sheldon's family were in this cabin and they were the ones raising Shamy's son, the dream/Christmas special series was also a sitcom genre, every time they made a joke the audience laughed, the dream/Christmas special series, showed in a light and comforting way the chaotic day to day life of the Cooper family, Mary being the same obsessed Christian, George just being a calm guy and Connie as always with her wine in hand, mini Sheldon/Shamy's son always around them. Now the dream/Christmas special series, took a very dark turn because it will explain the disappearance of Sheldon, Amy, Leonard and Penny. So, Penny was pregnant just like at the end of the series, but in my dream, she had a car accident and ended up dying along with the baby. Leonard is completely devastated and inconsolable and decides to end his life. Sheldon, seeing his two best friends die in such a cruel way, becomes totally paranoid about security and ends up isolating himself from everything else, even from his family. He isolated himself so much that it was as if he had also died. And finally, Amy. Amy, seeing that she was unable to help her husband recover and totally shaken by the death of her best friend, begins to become extremely depressed. Finally, she decided that she should prioritize herself for once in her life. Since she met Sheldon, she dedicated herself 100% to him and with her newborn son (in this dream, she already had the baby before Penny), she realized that her life would continue to be dedicated only to her son. So, in an attempt to prioritize herself, she dropped everything and ran away. No one knows her whereabouts. Guys, it was a much more detailed dream, but I don't know how to explain it and I don't remember everything. I've always had dreams that seem more like movies and I know it's kind of hard to believe, but believe me, in my dream it was 10x worse. It's a shame I woke up before finding out what happened to Howard and Bernadette.
