In 1913 George McManus created a cartoon "Bringing Up Father" main characters being Irish immigrants Jigg's and wife Maggie. Distributed by King Features Syndicate, it ran for 87 years, from 1913, to 2000 long after McManus death in 1954. Shortly before his death he said the cartoon earned him approx. 12 million dollars.

In his book "My Life in Pictures" 1974 Charlie said of this photo:
“I’m fourth from the right in the centre row at this dinner given for me in New York. I remember that the man with a moustache on the far right - a well known cartoonist - got drunk that night and was very funny. That’s Marcus Loewe in a pointed cap in the back row.”

Plane Dumb (1932)
Tom and Jerry make the poor choice to don blackface so they be safe in Africa. Of course the locals see right through them and don't take it kindly.
Real shame because there are some creative visuals in this one, but of course it's so insensitive I can't recommend it unless you're into cartoons as a medium. Props (?) to Van Bueren though since Tom and Jerry are both voiced by African American performers in this one. Aubrey Lyles and F.E. Miller both making up the early Broadway duo called "Miller and Lyles."

Some Van Beuren cartoons that credit the animators
1. Stone Age Stunts
2. The King Of Bugs
Two of them (George “Vernon” Stallings and John “J.J.” McManus) later worked for Disney and all of them later got director credits at VB as well
