And finally, we check in with Malibu Mist and her husband Gelato. They’re elders now, and their two boys are growing up. Older son Durian is married to Eden Dew and they have two children: daugher Jade Leaf, and son Prelude. Younger son Acai is on the cusp of graduation and almost ready to strike out on his own

Current reads, the coolest dinosaur card ever that my friend @fluencylevelfrench got me 💜🌿, and the amazing gelato I got with my mom the other day.
22|06|2023
It's been a little over a week since I finished my exams for this exam season and summer is officially here. I've had ups and downs with resting and getting my energies back, as well as with my anxiety. But I want to do my best to focus on the positives of the past few days. I started going on morning walks with my dad, we talk about books and movies and it's become a great way to start our days. I have been doing a big reread of old Zerocalcare graphic novels I haven't read in years, which is bringing me a lot of laugh and comfort. I also recently started reading some cozy fantasy in the hopes it will help me heal from the burn out of exam season, because I have indeed burned myself out, and now I pay the consequences. The big happy news of the week is that I finally came out to my family, it wasn't planned, it just happened and I am so glad it did. It went very well, and I still feel like itm only happened in a dream. I have been procrastinating having this talk with them out of pure anxiety for years, and I don't know what I was expecting, but everything is normal and okay with the only difference that now I don't have this huge weight on my shoulders anymore. I'll have lots to say to my therapist this month, I guess. I haven't planned yet when I'll get back into studying for the September/November exam season. At the moment I feel like I need rest, and that is my main priority. I will do a bit of planning as soon as I feel I have enought brain power to do so, and in the meantime I am trying to rest and enjoy the small daily things.

🦋 Day [9 of 100] of Productivity 🦋
Writing: Currently working on Chapter 17 and 18 of Effetto Luna. Chapter 19 is gonna be B I G, and I'm pretty excited about it. I can't decide: should I write it now, or should I wait until my august vacations, when I can spend all my days just focusing on my writing, reaching the perfection? What should you do, uurhg? Feeling inspired, productive and all, I kept going on with the "Meduse a centinaia" scheme, adding all the details and dialogues and scenes I felt to write. Same with "Lucignolo", even if it's gonna be the last story of the saga and the further one. I'm gonna take ages, but damn it, I'm gonna finish this thing! I'm gonna keep writing all the ideas, building the schemes, so I won't forget everything when the time to write the definitive draft will come. Moving from my old home is doing me good things. I feel more relaxed, comfortable, and my writing energy is heating slow and well, cooking all the ideas without burning me up. During the past months, I was not doing good. Sitting at my desk, opening the writing files, I used to feel my head heavy and my temples burning and pulsing, my thoughts like a wasp swarm. Now I'm doing better. I write calmly, my head is light and fresh, like a flower garden, and breathing is easier. As always, I keep iced coffee to sip during work, but I don't feel the guilt stabbing me if I just want to stend up and walk out in the balcony for a breath of fresh air. Thank you to all my readers to stick with me. I will try my best, I promise.🍀
Reading: The House in the Cerulean Sea - T J Klune Please, don't disappoint me. I just finished Turtles all the way down by John Green, and it was so bad, sigh. Listening to: Highway to Mars - Beast in Black Snacking on: Iced coffee and licorice candies. I should reeeally cut out my daily sugar intake, but it's so hard, and I always need a treat, you know, and I also bought some cheap gelato that was surprisingly delicious -- Crema Fiorentina flavour with amaretti on top. *chef kiss* Extra: Summer is going hard, sun heat is breaking all the records, but yesterday rained and days are bearable again. No overtime work on this weekend, yeah! I bought three new pencil cases and a rainbow doormat -- maybe I can show you nex time, okay? 🌈

La Squadra Housemate, College AU Part 1
Genre: Platonic
This has been in my drafts in like... forever and i got sick staring at it. Enjoy the culmination of my delirium induced by sleep depravity!
It was one of those days again. The empty feeling settling between your chest, as you resume to your daily activities, head on autopilot because that's just how repetitive your days were, just slaving away in your desk, be faced with things to do such as the essays, the math equations, essay analysis... The lessons and lectures were different everyday, and yet all the same. You didn't even cared to take a break anymore, knowing full-well of the works which awaits you so why delay it? It's not like your homemade snack will make you feel any better.
Another term paper finished, time to pass it tomorrow and have the professor tear it in front of you just in case you had a minimal typographical error, before you resort to picking it up to see where the hell did you go wrong. It ached the first time, but as time goes by, you just simply move on and comply, hurting inside but what's the point of getting it all out? A waste time, that is. You've been over it and quite frankly, it was getting so excessively pointless.
Setting the paper aside, you went to get a hold of another one of the work next in line with a sigh. Exhaustion lingers on with the emptiness within, powered by forced determination to finish everything within your plate and burn yourself out in the process. I mean, isn't this the way to success all of them have been saying? If you resume to do this and go through the route of life, then you'd end up walking everywhere with an IV tube up your arm.
There was a knock at the door you didn't hear and acknowledged, until the person from the other side of the door lets himself in.
"Hey Y/N, I said Illuso made some overcooked crap downstairs. Get your ass down and take a break." Sorbet would usually leave upon relaying the message in mind, but he remained standing by the doorway anticipating for your response, an acknowledging nod would be enough to send him on his way but your unresponsiveness prevailed.
"Y/N! How many times do we have to call you, huh?! Get your ass down or we'll eat without you!!!" Ghiaccio's shrill voice boomed from downstairs, prompting Sorbet to wince and lift a finger up to his ear to plug it up.
"Go ahead, I'll catch up later." Your recent attitude alone has gotten all of your housemates concerned but they let you be because days like these were inevitable amidst the hectic days in university, but it's been weeks since you let your works take a hold of your reigns.
"Oh no, you don't. you're not sneaking in the kitchen at three in the morning to eat cold pasta. Come on now, take a break for once." Sorbet approached you, hand on your shoulder. "It's been weeks since you took your sights off those damns books. Just eat, okay?"
"I don't know, Sorb's... I have things to do and get done-- you know that, right--?"
"I know and it's tiring. Come now, just take a break for a moment. I promise you'll feel better."
For a moment you contemplated and reconsidered rejecting his offer, seeing his point but you were in dire need to be responsive with your work. You took a deep heave of breathe, lifting your palm up to cup your forehead, thumb brushing over your temple pulsing with headache you've yet to soothe. He's right, you haven't eaten anything at the duration of the day, as you've barely left your study desk in your room.
"Okay. Just wait a moment, I'll be there--" Sorbet interjects sharply by pulling you by the wrist before you can touch anything on your desk, knowing full-well you wouldn't leave it alone unless someone were to physically drag you off it.
"Ah Y/N, good to see you out of your cave." Proscuitto remarks with slight scrutiny, setting a plate on your usual spot on the dinner table.
"What's taking you too long anyways? Are you--" Formaggio positions his hand above his crotch, making a jerking off motion, which warrants him a smack from Sorbet.
"They were studying, you perv." The dark haired housemate narrows his glare at Formaggio as he seats himself on his usual spot, beside his boyfriend Gelato.
"Says the one who got caught jacking it off in the hallway." Illuso scoffs, leaning his back against his chair.
"Oh yeah?" Formaggio challenges, leaning on the dinner table, clenching on his fork. Before anything can escalate, Risotto clears his throat.
A small laugh slips from your lips as you pulled yourself a seat between Ghiaccio and Melone. For a moment you forgot about the paperwork waiting for you back in your room, but it can wait. It's not like they'll leave. Sorbet was right, a quick break or two will make you feel better.
~0~
Sorbet bit his lip to fight his anxiety back, his clammy hand hidden at the depths of his shallow pocket to feel around its content whilst Formaggio starts the game. Here's to hoping nothing too terrible happen.
"I'm passing this phone to someone with the shortest temper." Formaggio bites his bottom lip in front of his front camera, rubbing his chin before passing the phone to Ghiaccio.
The cerulean blue haired narrows his gaze at the phone owner, before recording himself. "I'm passing this phone to someone who's too obsessed with themselves."
Illuso raises his brow at the current phone holder, a hand instinctively landing atop his chest, before he gets ahold of the phone and pressed record once again, "First of all, I'm not obsessed with myself and second, I'm passing this phone to someone who planted a fake positive pregnancy test in the bathroom for fun."
"It was for scientific purposes!" Melone exclaims, before claiming the phone. "I'm passing this phone to someone who dropped their cookie but instead of throwing it out, gave it to me and watched me eat it." The lilac head playfully tosses the phone back to its owner, in which he catches it just in time it hits the wall.
"Pfft, it's your fault you fell for it." Formaggio cackles. "I'm passing this phone to someone who belted out G10 in the shower when the lights blacked out."
"You're never gonna let me live that down, aren’t you?" Pesci reaches for the phone with red in his cheeks. "I will be passing the phone to someone who's the sanest in this household—"
 "BOOO! BORING!"
"Oh shut it," Sorbet smacks Formaggio, before collecting the phone from Pesci's grasp. "I'm passing this phone to someone who thinks pineapple on pizza is superior." He rolls his eyes, before passing it to his boyfriend.
"Um, sir— it does taste great! You're lucky you're cute, otherwise I would've torn you apart." Gelato snatches the phone from his boyfriend before focusing on the camera. "I'm passing the phone to someone who doesn't know how to cross the road because they're scared."
"Ugh, rude!" You took the phone from the blond with a roll of your eyes. "I'm passing the phone to someone who left me on the other side of the busy highway to cross a busy road."
"You were too slow, that's why. I'm passing the phone to someone who screamed at us for a solid minute, accusing that one of us stole his glasses whilst his glasses rested on his head." Risotto hands the phone to the person who has yet to receive the phone.
"I'm passing the phone to someone who burned the whole kitchen at three in the morning because they left to stove on to cook peanut butter because we ran out of peanut butter." Prosciutto hands you the phone.
"I'm passing the phone to someone who was petting and cooing at a pile of laundry thinking it was a cat." You glared at Prosciutto, before passing the phone to Formaggio.
"What? It was finals and I barely got any sleep!" He whines, before sighing. "I'm passing the phone to someone who has been passed around like this phone."
A choked gasp pried itself away from your throat as soon as he hands you the phone with a grin. "Well I'm passing the phone to someone who accused me for taking their red lacey thong but it turns out we own the same product."
"Wow, you're bold, I like you." Melone chuckles, before taking the phone. "I'm passing the phone to someone who was hungover during finals and managed to pass."
"Pretty impressive if I do say so myself." Sorbet smirks at his achievement, proudly reaching for the phone. "I'm passing this phone to someone who faked smoking at a party to impress a girl."
"Well I don't smoke! I don't like how it tastes!" Pesci insists. "I'm passing the phone to someone who got out of the house with his shirt inside out and backwards and didn't realise it until he was going home."
"I'm passing this phone to someone who cried when I pranked him with a fake electric razor." Melone smirks as he passes the phone to Illuso.
"I'm passing the phone to someone who's first instinct to nonchalantly say 'Nice' before going back to his business after receiving a nude pic from his then girlfriend." Ilusso gives the phone to Ghiaccio.
"I'm passing the phone to someone who doesn't pick their hair clumps in the bathroom after taking a bath, clogging the shower drain."
"Well, I'm passing the phone to someone who screamed at the professor after he said Venice."
"I'M PASSING THE PHONE WHO THINKS IT'S OKAY TO SAY VENICE INSTEAD OF VENEZIA!"
If it weren't for Illuso's quick response, the phone would've crashed against the wall and permanently putting it into a broken state. "Heh, okay then. I'm passing the phone to someone who has been with my man Gelato through thick and thin."
Sorbet gulps, his heart hammering in his chest as he reaches for the phone. His hand that has been hidden in his pocket since the very start of the game finally came out, with a small, black velvet box. Gelato glances at his longtime boyfriend, confused for a moment until the blond saw the little box resting within Sorbet's grasp. In shock, the blond's hands shot up to cover his lips and nose, his onyx gaze watering. Everyone in the room has their thoughts race rapidly with incoherent thoughts.
"I'm passing the phone to whom I want to marry and be with for the rest of my life, because without him I feel so empty and alone." Sorbet hands the phone to his longtime boyfriend, before taking a knee and opening the box. "Will you marry me?"
It would be a miracle Gelato would come to thank later as he didn't know he would still be able to respond despite being so deep in cloud nine. The entirety of the squad stood behind Sorbet at the edge of their seats, watching their carefully crafted plan unfold before them.
"Oh, yes. YES!" With the key word uttered, the once tensed room burst into excitement, jumping and screaming whilst the couple slipped on each others engagement rings before engulfing each other into a passionate embrace.
"WHOOO YEAH! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING 'BOUT!" Formaggio cheers amidst the screams of excitement.
"Oh you guys, c'mere!" Sorbet caught you and Risotto's necks, before pulled in for a hug. Soon the others joined in for a group hug, almost squeezing the couple in the middle but it was all so worth it.

Day 7 of Staycation
A staycation during a stay-at-home order just isn’t the same thing as an actual vacation. But at least there are still some good autumnal trees around.
Today I danced with friends at the playground (only 3 of us showed up). We stayed far apart and wore our masks, of course, and managed to piece together some material from a class we took a few months ago. It was fun, though I’m not sure dancing outside is very good for my body. I had back pain (from an old injury) for a lot of the rest of the day. But dancing with other people, in the same physical space, feeds my soul, and we can’t dance together indoors.
After dancing and chatting, I came home and finished reading The House in the Cerulean Sea, then posted a little review.
Other than that, nothing exciting happened until after dinner, when we made pistachio ice cream. It came out sort of like gelato, though I imagine it will harden quite a bit in the freezer. Very tasty!
However, my cousin points out that other than reading a book and making elaborate desserts, I am not really having much of a vacation. She is right. I don’t know what I can do to rectify this.
What are you all doing to have a break that feels like a vacation, without actually going anywhere?

Soooo, hmm... a “few” months ago I came up with a couple of HCs for all La Squadra Esecuzioni members (Ok, well... a LOT more for Melone. like, really a lot).In the end Tricia (soooorry if it took me sooo long 💚💚) succeeded in convincing me to post at least a part of them xD
Sooooo, here I am with my HCs about Melone’s childhood! I really hope that some of you might find them interesting, at least uwu here they are!
- Melone was born in a small town, in Sicily countryside. His father was a farmer, a quiet man of few words, with hairs as blond as the wheat he grew and cerulean eyes. Yet, his greatest passion was alcohol, and often drunk himself out, becoming violent towards his wife and children. Despite this, he had a special hate for Melone: his eyes heterochromia was enough for him to believe that Melone was not his natural child
- On the other hand, Melone’s mother loved him. She was still really young when she arrived in Sicily from Florence, due to her work as a teacher. She was a sweet woman, and always tried her best to give her children the best education they could afford and helping them at home. Captured by Melone’s fresh mind, she taught him any sort of things- especially related to science and biology.
- Sadly, Melone’s mother died when he was only 10 years old. It was a delitto d’onore, or so they said. After her death, Melone became a really difficult child, with frequent and violent outbursts of anger
- Was about that time that Meli’s father introduced him to the underworld. “So you will finally be of some use in this house”. Meli’s duties where mainly to deliver packages and other things at the local post office, or to some of his father’s so called friends. The one who Meli genuinely loved to visit was his uncle- his father’s eldest brother. After his mother’s death, he was the only one standing for him against his father. “Cristiano, amara a tia! He might be not your naturali child, but you’re the only family he has, now. Be good with the kiddo, he deserves this” was one of the phrases he usually said to Meli’s father
- Due to his work as delivery boy, Meli started to wear gloves everywhere. He used to wear oversized sweatshirts, but those where really uncomfortable during the work, so he started with gloves: at home, at work, he used to wear them even while sleeping! Truth to be told, that was just the quicker way to hide the scars on his wrists. Nowadays, the only one who knows-at least- the existence of Meli’s scars is Illuso. He used to spy his teammates a lot, even without being safely hidden in mirror world. But- oh, god!- Melone’s reaction was so unexpected, so violent, he was so full of anger…! That surely was not the usual, noisy and easygoing Melone he was friend with. Lulu had to run as fast as he could into the mirror world to save himself from Melone’s rage, and still now Lulu shivers every times Melone calls him “curious little rat”
- Melone joined la squadra esecuzioni in his early 16. Due to his shady behaviour, Risotto teamed up with him for his first mission- he didn’t trust Gelato nor Sorbetto to go alone with a kid who know so well how to get on their nerves. after all, that kid was promising, Risotto couldn’t let them kill him. That was not only his first mission as a member of Passione and La Squadra Esecuzioni, no: it was also his first mission as a stand user! Risotto wasn’t really surprised when he saw the rookie having a lot of troubles with the target- that’s why he was hidden near him, with his Metallica ready to save Melone from the start. The target was a man, coming from the same town as Meli. That’s why when he figured out who Meli was, he begun to mock him. Amazingly, as the men continued to mock him, Melone- at first in panic- recollected himself. Risotto was ready to kill the target, when he saw Melone’s eye. He was moving calmly, and quietly took baby-face with both hands, while walking near that man. needless to say how shocked was Risotto when he saw the kid beating their target with his stand, with all his anger! Risotto was forced to physically block Melone ‘till he finally calmed down, before they could return to their HQ’s
- Soon after joining Passione, Melone burned down his childhood home, during a trip in Sicily with Risotto. They actually stayed there for a couple of weeks before returning to Naples, but for the entire first week Melone was missing. He didn’t say a word when he return at Villa Nero, and Risotto was simply too busy to ask for an explanation. During their return to Naples, however, Meli gave to his capo a sorta of explanation- “he wanted to tell me what to do” - he simply said, murmuring- “no one can tell me what to do... no one.”

Dedicated to my sweet family
SET THE SCENE
I’ve been on my fair share of cruises – Hawaii, Caribbean, and another Alaskan cruise by Holland Cruise lines – and thus, I think I can safely say that I have had enough comparison to write a pretty good review on a cruise ship. The Bliss is the newest and biggest ship to sail the Alaskan waters and I will say it definitely lives up to its ship name. But before I go into the ship, let me give you a snapshot of beautiful Alaska.
Cerulean blue waters with hints of green flow around the gorgeous state of Alaska. The skies alternate between clear blue and a light gray and there is a chill in the air that is a profound welcomed relief from the humid heat of Texas (where I’m from). The air is devoid of heavy pollution and car traffic fumes and every city has its quiet charm. Salmon in every shape and color climb the salmon ladders while bald eagles dominate the skies.
The cold air is contrasted by a hot cup of chowder in chilled hands. One of the little things in life is having your insides immediately warmed by sip of a hot latte. Or being in the middle of a forest surrounded by trees connected together by fairy lights while roasting marshmallows over a large fire.
The most brilliant sharp icy blue glaciers and its pieces float enchantingly and menacingly in the waters. Whales swim by, peaking their heads and showing off their tails as cruisers lean over, awed, with binoculars. Waterfalls bloom out of the sides of mountains with the force of the water creating a thunderous sound.
This state is so breathtaking in every way.
THE BASICS
Time of Travel: July Type of Travel: Family
THE SHIP
Size: While Bliss is definitely not the biggest cruise ship in the world, it definitely appears like the biggest ship on the Alaskan waters when all the ships are parked next to each other at the ports. It’s impressive to see from afar and to walk up to when returning from the city.
We saw so many whales from our cruise ship windows! Not the best photo but I got too excited and eventually put away my camera to just enjoy the magnificent sights
Exterior Décor: The front of the ship is beautifully decorated and my brother and I joked that the artwork definitely invited all the whales to swim up near our ship. I was honestly so surprised by how many whales I saw on the cruise – definitely more than the last time I was in Alaska. The front of the ship is illustrated with the wildlife of the ocean – whales, turtles, and rays. It’s the perfect artwork for a cruise ship.
Interior Décor: The inside of the ship is also tastefully ornamented. In the center of the ship is a gorgeous glass-appearing staircase that wraps around and glitters in the light. The hot tubs are purposefully placed at the tail end of the ship and on the sides so there is a clear view of the ocean. Every room is carefully constructed to its theme.
Service: The staff on the ship is 5/5 stars. They are so incredibly friendly and accommodating and always willing to strike up a good conversation with you but they also know when to leave you alone as well. They always have a smile for you and their response to everything is quick. They all come from different countries around the world and it is fascinating to hear their stories and everywhere they have traveled!
THINGS TO DO ON THE SHIP
Observation Lounge: Located at the front of the ship, this area was one of my favorite areas on the ship. Decked out in large windows showcasing the beauty of Alaska, the lounge is full of comfy arm chairs and the best part? The bar in the middle as well as two buffets of tea time food fully stocked with finger sandwiches, salads, and desserts. On the days at sea, it’s the perfect area to chill with family and friends, play cards, and observe the Alaskan magnificence without being in the cold.
The Pool and Aqua Park: On one of the top decks of the ship is the pool and the incredible water slides on the ship. There is one water slide where you slide down in rafts and there is one thrilling slide that literally hangs over the ocean! There is a fun area where the kids congregate and hot tubs that dot the sides of the ship as well as the rear end. I highly recommend chilling in the hot tubs at the rear so you can see the full view of the ocean behind you as the ship sails.
Race Track: Yes, this ship has a whole level dedicated to a race track where you can race your family and friends either in a single cart or a double seater cart.
TIP: Book your reservations before you get onto the ship! My family and I did not realize that seats were limited so we did not get to try out this part of the cruise.
It does cost a small fee per drive
Mini Golf
Laser Tag: a small fee
Bliss Casino
Video Arcade
Bowling Alley: a small two lane bowling alley. It gets busy really fast! A small fee
Entourage Teen Club: a haven away from the parents – this place has video games, music, movies!
Fitness Center: this fitness center is legit. There is a running track outside and every machine and weight you could possibly need for a week long cruise.
Guppies: A great area for parents and their kids. Many interactive activities
Hair Salon
Plenty of Spas
Mandara Spa and Salon
Spa Salt Room – natural salt caves – halotherapy
Spa Snow Room – an ice cold arctic environment
Spa Thermal Suite
SHOWS
My favorite thing about cruises is the kind of night time entertainment the ship provides meaning the evening shows. I would say my review for this ship’s shows is probably a 4/5 stars in comparison to the other ships I’ve been on. The best shows I’ve seen on a ship still goes to Allure of the Seas, but this ship definitely provides a great entertainment and truly hats off to the hard working actresses and actors!
Happy Hour Prohibition: The Musical – $30 per person. This musical is set in a speakeasy and set in the Prohibition Era. My family and I chose not to see this one just because there was a fee and plenty of other free shows to see
Jersey Boys – such a great show about Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons
Havana – set at The Palace of Lights, this show brings you the beat and culture of Cuba (takes me back to my time in the Cuban capital!)
The great bands on the ship that play across different bars and lounges
Plenty of comedy shows – make sure you book when you get on the ship!
SHIP ROOM
My family of four booked two separate rooms without ocean views. I always encourage people that if you go on a cruise, try to book rooms with ocean views but obviously if it’s not affordable or available, then it is definitely not the end of the world. I only encourage ocean views for two reasons. One, I think it really helps with orientation to time and feeling as though you are not holed up on the ship. A window or a balcony brings light, views, and a breath of fresh air.
But like I said before, if you can’t get a room with ocean views, then it is completely okay too! My family got non-ocean view rooms and we were completely satisfied. The rooms were on the smaller side (but to be expected with cruise ships), but they were clean. The beds were super comfortable and could be put together or turned into two beds. The TV has a huge list of movies to buy but also a great select of TV channels that plays a cycle of movies depending on genre (action, romance, drama).
Nothing better than opening the door to your room and finding complimentary champagne!
BARS AND LOUNGES
There are so many bars and lounges on the ship and they are all excellent. So many options to choose from that I didn’t even get a chance to make it to all of them
Atrium Bar: This is the center of the ship and where a lot of the main ship’s entertainment occurs. There is a stage area and a movie screen where there are nightly movies and hilarious game shows.
Horizon Lounge
Humidor Cigar Lounge
Maltings Whiskey Bar
Mixx Bar
Skyline Bar
Social Comedy and Night Club
Spice H2O – the pool bar
Sugarcane Mojito Bar
The A-List Bar
The Cavern Club
The District Brew House
Vide Beach Club
THE FOOD
The Local: The 24hr pub experience! The two pros of this place is that it is open 24 hrs, the food is free, and there is a great view of the Atrium Bar stage meaning you can eat and watch entertainment one floor below
The Dining Rooms: There are three dining rooms on the ship that you can eat lunch and dinner at. Unlike the other cruises I’ve been on where you had to make reservations ahead of time and to eat at an assigned time, this cruise gives you the liberty to go whenever you would like. Because there are several dining rooms, there is always plenty of space at any time and thus you can dine on your own schedule.
Every day, there is a menu posted outside the dining rooms. You don’t have to look at each of the dining rooms’ menus because they are all the same. The menu does change for lunch and dinner every day
My mom was a bit disappointed that there was no true formal night with a lobster dish as we have found on other cruise ships
The Garden Café Buffet: I have to say that usually I am not a fan of the cruise buffets. The food usually is sub-par, but I have to say I was mildly impressed with the menu at this buffet. My family and I actually ended up eating here more than the dining rooms because of the expansive options and the ever changing menu.
There are hamburger/hot dog stations, Indian food station, a hot food station that changes every day according to the theme, Italian station, cold cuts station, Asian food station, salad station, and a huge dessert station
For drinks, there is a bar and non-alcoholic beverages such as tea, coffee, and different flavored waters
Room Service: This is complimentary and 24hrs a day but there is a service fee!
Restaurants (not complementary)
Ocean Blue – Seafood
Los Lobos – Mexican
Food Republic – Fusion
Cagney’s Steakhouse
Coco’s – Chocolate, Crepes
Dolce Gelato
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville at Sea
La Cucina – Italian
Le Bistro – French
Q – Texas BBQ
Teppanyaki
The Bake Shop
Starbucks
Tea Time Snacks
Room service juice with my champagne to make mimosas
PROS AND CONS
Pros
The last Alaskan cruise I went on seemed catered to adults, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that this cruise really catered to family and the young kids.
Flexible dining room schedule
Plenty of activities on the ship
Friendly staff
Entertaining game shows that allows most of the ship guests to interact with each other
The buffet food is better than the other cruise ships I’ve sailed with
They have a package that every room gets on the ship – meaning that your price of the cruise comes with every ship getting a certain amount off at each excursion per port or a drinking ticket in which all the alcoholic beverages were free
They were also very big on hygiene and sanitizers
Cons
No main lobster dish
Not a true formal night on the ship (this is a pro or con depending on what your opinion of this is)
Most of the activities on the ship came with a small fee
The room service food was definitely not as good in quality as the rest of the food on the ship
ITINERARY
Detailed itineraries on how to do each port coming soon!
Seattle, Washington
Ketchikan, Alaska
Juneau, Alaska
Skagway, Alaska
Victoria, BC
Basically, I highly recommend this cruise as your first way of exploring Alaska!
Happy Traveling!

Metamorphoses
This is my entry for Day 4: Reincarnation at @promdynshipweek! This is actually supposed to tie into another fic for the Prompto as Ardyn’s Oracle prompt, but…we’ll see if that happens. Maybe for the free day. Maybe.
Picus is a figure from Roman mythology who was known for his skill in augury and horsemanship - it seemed like a good fit for Prompto.
When Prompto first saw Altissia, he thought it had to be the most beautiful city in all of Eos. Insomnia was sleek and modern, and Lestallum had a certain seedy charm, but Altissia-by-the-Sea, with its intricate labyrinth of delicately formed arches and bridges reminiscent of the fantastical cakes that once graced the windows of Insomnia’s finest pâtisseries, was something out of a fairytale. It was everything a photographer could possibly wish for, and Prompto had been eager to indulge himself.
That was three days ago. Now, the once serene city was in the midst of being to pieces by a combination of mortal callousness and divine wrath, the destruction of the Imperial war machine compounded by the ferocity of the Tidemother’s waves. Prompto scrambled behind Gladio as they traversed the torn-up streets, his breath catching painfully in his throat as he struggled to keep up, and tried not to think about how yesterday the four of them had been eating gelato and laughing.
“Gladio,” he said, stumbling over the loose stones of what had once been a walkway, “Gladio, wait a second. Your legs are like twice as long as mine.”
Gladio glanced back. “We need to push on.” He pointed at the sky, where the lights of Imperial dropships glowed a sickly red against ash gray clouds. “The ritual has to be over by now, and we can’t let the Empire take control of the altar.”
Prompto bit his lip. His legs ached, and he could feel a blister developing on his heel. But Gladio was right. Reaching the altar - reaching Noct - was the most important thing.
Such a weakling, whispered the voice inside his head that never failed to point out when he was lagging behind, when he wasn’t good enough, when he didn’t belong. You’re going to fall behind because you can’t cut it.
Shut up.
“Yeah,” he said, and managed a curt nod. “Yeah. I got this.”
“You do,” agreed Gladio, and there was a note of warmth beneath his usual gruffness. “Now let’s move.”
There was no more talking after that. All their efforts were spent on traversing the city as it crumbled around them. Rain had started to pour from the ever-darkening sky, making the stone walkways slick and treacherous, and Prompto tripped and fell more times than he’d care to admit. By the time the altar finally came into view Prompto was exhausted, soaked to the bone, and shivering with cold.
And they were too late.
Ardyn Izunia was crouched over Ignis’ body, his face distorted with oily satisfaction as he watched the advisor thrash helplessly on the slick stones. Ignis was burning, Prompto realized with horror, his flesh seared by streaks of purple fire. The sounds being torn from his throat were primal and raw; Prompto had never heard Ignis scream like that, not even when he’d been blasted by a coeurl’s whiskers.
But at least it meant Ignis was still alive. The limp bodies Noctis and Luna were lying just a short ways away, and they were still as stone.
“You’re a bit too late to save the day,” said Ardyn, slow and malicious. His gaze trailed dismissively over Gladio and fixed on Prompto. Prompto swallowed hard. Ever since their first encounter at Galdin Quay, there was something unsettling about the way Ardyn looked at him. It was different from the condescension he gave Gladio or the indulgent superiority he saved for Noctis. It was something else, a curious mixture of rage, disgust, and yearning that made Prompto feel strange and off-balance, like he was falling from a great height into unknown depths.
Ardyn kept his eyes fixed on Prompto as words dripped from his mouth like poisoned honey. “Look at your poor king,” he said. “Who has such poor companions that they cannot even protect themselves, let alone him. It fell to the Oracle -” and for a second his eyes burned like embers “- to sacrifice herself to save the King, and now what is left?”
Ignis was still screaming. Noctis and Luna were still pale and motionless. The precipice yawned beneath Prompto’s feet. And Prompto -
- Prompto flew.
“No,” he said, or heard himself say. He was somewhere else, removed from his body, except he wasn’t, not exactly. He was both Prompto and not-Prompto, all the harsh edges and fractured pieces that lurked beneath his skin melded together in a seamless whole. The taunting voice that constantly whispered, freak, monster, not good enough, never good enough fell silent, washed away in a sea of peace.
He knew what he needed to do.
“No,” he said again, and his voice was louder than the storm. He stepped toward Ignis and knelt at his friend’s side, then pressed his hands against the tormented skin.
The magic of the Lucii had always been cruel. It could not be otherwise, for it was the gift of Bahamut, and the god of war demanded sacrifices of blood. The blood it demanded now was Ignis’, and it was burning through his veins with savage hunger. Just a few more minutes and it would have what it wanted.
Prompto wouldn’t let it.
It was as instinctual as breathing to reach inside himself and call upon the thread of golden light that thrummed in his veins. Coaxing it to do what he wanted was more difficult - it had lain dormant for so long, and at first it didn’t want to yield to him. It burned too bright and too hot, and Prompto heard Ignis cry out in protest. But then his body remembered to relax, be less forceful in his commands and simply let the light flow through him and into Ignis, giving it direction only when he needed to.
He sent the light racing after the pain tearing through Ignis’ body, sending pulses of golden warmth across the lines of purple fire. Ignis started to relax, his pained cries easing off into whimpers. His breath came easier, and he was no longer thrashing like a panicked animal caught in a trap.
But the magic of the kings pushed back. A price, it whispered, in a language Prompto had no recollection of ever hearing, but that he understood perfectly. Our power demands a price, and not even an Oracle can deny us our due.
That may be so, answered Prompto, narrowing his eyes in concentration. But it doesn’t have to be a life.
A warm breeze ruffled his hair, and a few flower petals drifted down to on the stone next to him. They were creamy white streaked with a rich, deep blue, and Prompto could smell their perfume as they passed. He smiled. Snow gentians had always been his favorite.
Only he had never seen before. Had he? They didn’t grow in Lucis…
One last flood of gold pulsed through his hands. Ignis gasped one last time, then went still as that sickly purple light faded from his skin, leaving thick silver lines of scar tissue running up his forearms and splashed across his right eye. The Lucii had left their mark, but they had not taken his life.
It would have to be enough.
Then the world tilted on its side, and the sense of peace and purpose that had suffused Prompto was gone. He was himself again, awkward and clumsy and uncertain. A wave of dizziness rolled over him, and dark spots swam across his vision. His stomach roiled. He thought he might vomit.
When his vision cleared, Ardyn was staring at him. But it wasn’t the contemptuous stare Prompto was used to. Ardyn was staring at him with parted lips and wide eyes, as if Prompto were the answer to some long-withheld mystery.
“Picus,” he said.
Prompto drew in a sharp breath. That word had set something thrumming inside him, like a string after being plucked. He wasn’t sure that he liked the sensation.
“What?”
“Picus,” said Ardyn again. He stepped toward Prompto and extended his hand, like he wanted Prompto to take it. “Picus, come with me.”
“No. Nonononono.” Prompto shook his head and scrambled backward over the stones. “I’m not going anywhere with you. Not ever.”
“Damn right he’s not,” growled Gladio. Prompto jerked as the Shield’s big, warm hands pulled him to his feet. The world had shrunk down to him and Ignis, then him and Ardyn; he’d forgotten anyone else was there. “Come on, Prom. Let’s get Noctis and Ignis and -”
Ardyn snarled. He leapt forward in a flash red fire - a warp strike, Ardyn could warp - and tore Prompto out of Gladio’s grasp. Prompto screamed and thrashed, trying to fight his way out of Ardyn’s iron grip, but the Chancellor just held on tighter.
“Go to sleep, Picus,” he said. “Just go to sleep, and I promise to take care of you.”
“No!” Prompto kicked out frantically. Some of the blows connected, but Ardyn paid no attention to them. “Let me go.”
“Then I’m afraid you leave me no choice,” said Ardyn. He raised his hand.
And Prompto fell back into the void.
* * *
Prompto dreamed.
In his dream, he was lying on his back in a field of snow gentians. The sky was a brilliant shade of cerulean blue, and the sunshine was warm on his skin. Everything was peaceful and lazy and perfect, and Prompto was content to stretch his limbs and think of nothing at all.
“Dearest.”
Prompto rolled onto his side at side and looked at Ardyn. Ardyn was smiling at him, open and carefree, and his amber eyes were warm.
Prompto smiled back. “You found me.”
“Of course I did. I always will.” Ardyn reached out and touched Prompto’s hair. “I’ve missed you so.”
“Not as much as I missed you.” Prompto nudged himself closer to Ardyn and ran his fingers through soft waves of burgundy hair. “Now kiss me.”
Ardyn laughed. “As my Oracle commands,” he said, and leaned leaned forward to bring their lips together. Prompto sighed, opening his mouth to Ardyn’s as flower petals swirled around them -
He woke up with a gasp. The dream melted away like fog in sunlight, leaving him cold and confused and scared. He remembered Altissia in chaos, Ignis burning, and Ardyn…
Ardyn…
Prompto jerked upright, only to fall immediately back down with a pained grunt. His head was caught in a vice grip of pain, and his stomach roiled in protest. He retched once, and then couldn’t stop, his body curling in on itself in protest as it struggled for air.
“Easy. You’ve had quite the ordeal.”
Large, warm hands ran down his back, rubbing soothingly. Light flashed in the corner of his eye, and he felt a wave of soothing coolness rush through his body. It reminded him of the way it felt when he broke one of Noctis’ potions over his skin: instant relief, followed by a moment of exuberant buoyancy.
But Noctis wasn’t here, and Prompto didn’t have any potions.
He looked up at Ardyn’s face, so close to his own, and jerked away. He scrambled to his feet and took in his surroundings, looking frantically for a way out. The room he was in had metal walls and no windows, like a prison cell, but he could make out the rectangular outline of a door. He ran toward it and slammed his hands against it, trying to force it open. It wouldn’t budge.
He turned and looked back at Ardyn. “Let me out.”
Ardyn shook his head. “No.”
Prompto was trembling. He hoped desperately that Ardyn didn’t notice. “Look, I don’t know what your game is, but Noctis won’t fall for it. It’s not going to work.”
“I’m not after Noctis.” Ardyn stalked toward him, graceful despite his numerous layers of clothing. “Noctis doesn’t matter anymore. The only thing that matters is you.”
Prompto instinctively grabbed his right wrist. He could feel the barcode burning into his skin, a beacon that marked him irrevocably as an abomination. Of course Ardyn knew about that. Of course Ardyn knew what he was, and now Ardyn was going to torture him until he turned into some mindless slave like all the other MTs -
But Ardyn shook his head.
“Not that,” he said. Then he stepped in close, pressing Prompto against the cold metal door with no room to escape. He raised a hand and caressed Prompto’s face, gentle as a lover.
“Picus,” he said, and kissed him.
Prompto had been kissed before. He hadn’t thought there was anything special about it - all of his kisses had been typical high school affairs: mostly chaste, with a few awkward attempts at tongue that resulted in teeth clashing together. They had left him feeling silly, more than anything else, and he was well aware that his partners were more interested in Prompto, the Prince’s Best Friend than Prompto, the Geeky Photographer.
But Ardyn…Ardyn was kissing him, and he knew what he was doing. He knew just how use his lips to urge Prompto’s apart, how to lightly touch his tongue to Prompto’s, and how make everything that much better by stroking his thumbs along the sensitive skin along Prompto’s jaw. He kissed Prompto like there was nothing more important in the world. No one else had ever kissed Prompto like that. No one else had wanted to.
It felt like coming home.
When Ardyn finally pulled away, his eyes shone like stars as he looked at Prompto. “Picus,” he said again, and leaned in to press another quick series of kisses against his jawbone. “I’ve missed you so.”
Prompto stared back at him, momentarily lost in a haze of pleasure. Then he remembered who he was with, and tried to squirm away.
“Stop calling me that!”
“Don’t hide yourself from me, Picus.” There was a pleading note in Ardyn’s voice, something mournful and sad. “Don’t be so cruel, not when I’ve found you at last.”
“I said, stop.” Prompto put his hands against Ardyn’s chest and shoved. To his surprise, the other man actually stepped back, and Prompto darted across the room.
“Just stay away from me!”
Ardyn stood still, his hand lax at his sides, staring at Prompto with devastation on his face. It was eerie. Prompto was used to the arrogant Imperial Chancellor, who smiled false smiles and told partial truths and delighted in tormenting Noctis. He had never thought he would see such an expression on Ardyn Izunia’s face.
And it made something inside Prompto want to reach out and comfort him, take him in his arms and reassure him that everything would be all right.
“When I first saw you, I thought you were created by the gods to torment me,” said Ardyn. “It would amuse them to create an automaton with the face of the First Oracle and dangle it in front of me, to remind me of how much I had lost. And I hated you for it.”
Prompto laughed, high and hysterical. “Yeah, I got that part, believe me.”
Ardyn ignored him. “But I was mistaken,” he breathed. “You aren’t just a copy. You are Picus, reborn. You came back to me.”
“Yeah, no.” Prompto shook his head. “Sorry. I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m just Prompto.”
“No.” Ardyn stretched his hand out, inviting Prompto to take it. “I saw you in Alitissia. Only an Oracle could have saved that boy from the Ring of Lucii. I saw it in your eyes. You’re my Picus. All you need to do is remember that, and embrace it.”
For just a moment, Prompto saw loneliness in Ardyn’s face. He saw a man who had lost everything and been driven mad by it. And something inside him, the same presence that had overwhelmed him in Altissia, began to unfurl. It wanted to go to Ardyn, wrap his arms around him and hold him tight, and reassure him that he would never be alone again.
Prompto clenched his hands into fists. His fingers dug into the soft flesh of his palms, grounding him in the here-and-now. This was Ardyn. He was a liar, and cruel, and sadistic. This was just another game to him, and Prompto wasn’t going to play.
“I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about,” he spat, “but you’re nothing to me. And you never were.”
His words landed heavily in the cavern between them. Ardyn’s face twisted in pain - no, not pain, there was no way that monster could feel pain - and then it smoothed back into the condescending mask Prompto was used to.
“I see,” said Ardyn. “You only emerged when you were under duress. Kindness will not reach you. That’s all right.” He began stalking toward Prompto, a predator toying with its prey. “I can work with that.”
Prompto ran. There was nowhere to go, but he ran anyway, trying to put as much distance between himself and Ardyn. Ardyn let him run for a while, then finally warped toward him and closed his strong hands around Prompto’s throat.
“I’ll just have to drag you out.”
Ardyn threw him to the floor. Prompto curled in on himself, trying to protect himself from the blows Ardyn rained down on him. He told himself that he wouldn’t cry out, wouldn’t give Ardyn the satisfaction of hearing him cry out in pain, but by the time he felt one of his ribs crack, he couldn’t help whimpering. He hated himself for how pathetic the sound was.
But Ardyn stopped. Prompto lay on the floor, tears stinging his eyes and gasping for air, and waited for the onslaught to begin again.
It didn’t. Ardyn reached down and carded his fingers gently through Prompto’s hair, and another burst of healing light flooded through him.
Then he was gone.
* * *
Prompto lost track of time.
He slept, sometimes, pressed into the corner with his knees tucked up to his chest. His dreams took him back to the field of snow gentians, where he was both himself and not-himself (Picus). Sometimes he was alone, and sometimes Ardyn was with him. The Ardyn in his dreams was everything the waking Ardyn was not: gentle and kind, with a smile like sunlight and laughter in his eyes.
Whenever Prompto woke up, his cheeks were wet, and his heart was as heavy as a stone in his chest.
The real Ardyn was a nightmare. The first few times he came to Prompto’s cell, Prompto ran. He knew it was futile. He knew Ardyn would catch him sooner rather than later, but he liked to pretend that he had options, and that he had some chance of escape. He ran from corner to corner until he was exhausted
But he had to give up sooner or later. After the tenth time - or maybe it was the twelfth; he’s lost count - he didn’t bother moving when Ardyn came in, not even to raise his head. He simply lay on the floor, closed his eyes, and waited for the pain to start.
Every time, Ardyn left him black and blue. And Ardyn healed him every time, leaving him calm and refreshed and ready for another day of torment.
Then, one day, the ritual changed.
Ardyn came to him and didn’t touch him at all. He dropped to his knees before Prompto, his disheveled hair falling in his face, and began to speak.
Prompto couldn’t understand the words rolling off of Ardyn’s tongue. They weren’t entirely alien - some of the syllables were reminiscent of his long-ago lessons in classical Lucian - but the sense behind them was a mystery. Only the longer Ardyn spoke, the clearer his words became. The part of Prompto that was not-Prompto - that was Picus - could understand them, and it whispered their meaning into Prompto’s psyche.
Ardyn’s words spoke of ages past, when he was King and Picus was Oracle. He spoke of love and loss, and how when Picus fell at the altar of Leviathan all the light left the world. How he had lost once Picus passed beyond his reach.
Ardyn finally fell silent and slumped down to the floor. He was utterly pathetic. His hair hung in lank strands, his shoulders drooped with exhaustion, and fat tears dripped down his cheeks. Every one of his thousands of years was etched on the lines of his face.
Prompto’s soul cracked wide open.
For a moment, they remained frozen in their tableau of sorrow and devastation. Then Picus slowly reached out and touched his fingers to Ardyn’s hair. Ardyn looked up at him, his eyes impossibly young, and Picus pulled him into his arms.
“I’m here,” he murmured in the ancient tongue of kings and Oracles, the tongue he had once used to proclaim his love for the King of Light. “I’m with you. Everything will be all right.”
It was a lie. But as they curled around each other, and kissed for the first time in over two thousand years, it was enough to pretend.

Destination: Archipelago – 8 of The Best Island Beaches Ever!
Beaches have been a prime tourist magnet for as long as we can remember – and for good reason, too. The sheer number of things one can do on the beach are endless: one can just spend the whole day sunbathing and playing with the sand, or even work up a sweat by surfing and snorkelling. Oftentimes, islands have the most spectacular beaches – which makes sense, since they’re surrounded by water. They also have expansive and culturally significant histories, because of the many hardships and integrations brought through past colonisations and current legislation. And this is exactly why, in this article, we will dive into what really makes the island beaches of these archipelagos tick:
● Our First ‘Island Beaches’ Pick: The Carribean – Curaçao Off the coast of the southern Carribean sea, this island is actually a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Apart from it being a settlement alive with the arts and in touch with their colourful side, its beaches are a pleasure to the eye as well.  The characteristic blue-green water that shifts into fine white sand is something that all 35+ island beaches here have – and maybe a peaceful sit-down with a classic gelato in one hand is what will really bring you to that  happy place! Considering the number of beach options you have here, choosing one of them is imaginably hard. The west of town is home to Boka St. Michiel beach, which is a small fishing locality where one can find scrumptious Curaçao food, and also bob in one of their tiny boats as you watch the sun set. Alternatively, the island’s most popular snorkelling and diving beach is Caracasbaai, which is part of an underwater park. It is a local favourite as well, due to its surrounding restaurants and free entry. This could be a great place to make some new friends, both underwater and above as well!
● Number Two: Maldives Maldives is located at the lower end of the Indian Ocean, and is closest to Sri Lanka. This set of islands is considered the world’s lowest-lying country, and because of which, changing sea tides (and ultimately global warming) impact it heaviest. The country is putting much of its efforts into sustainability and regrowth, with many of its local residents participating in its coral restoration efforts near Baa Atoll. These are aided by introducing self-sustaining methods of coral propagation, so that the consequences of coral bleaching are eradicated in a few years’ time. Many other sustainable steps – such as fishing regulations, island recycling plants, and phasing out single-use plastic – all add to the overall enjoyable experience of entering a clean, environmentally-friendly beach. Activities such as snorkelling, diving and island-hopping tours are common and encouraged, with some even being private and exclusive.
● Island Beaches In Seychelles Seychelles is also a collection of islands off the Indian Ocean – they are close to the Somali sea, and are a country by themselves (the Republic of Seychelles). The 115-island nation never fails to amaze photographers, with it being one of the most photographed beach locations ever. And for good reason – Anse Source D’Argent, on the island of La Digue is one such marvel whose cerulean waters are a mere backdrop to its pink sand and large boulders. Another extremely cool sight is the UNESCO-approved Aldabra, the second largest coral atoll in the world. They also boast the largest population of Giant Tortoises, and is a relatively isolated area that requires prior permission to visit. Anse Lazio is also laurelled with being the 6th best beach in the world – this Praslin beauty is truly a place where one must drink in its multifaceted beauty whilst soaking up some sun as well.
Our Fourth Pick, French Polynesia Ever heard of Bora-Bora? Well, this fascinating beach location is part of French Polynesia, along with 118 other islands that cover 2000 kilometres’ worth of the South Pacific Ocean. This extensive set of islands are where striking aquamarine lagoons meet cerulean ocean depths – a laid-back style of living, with adventure in the form of snorkelling and diving just around the corner. Lonely Planet classifies Tikehau atoll as “arguably the prettiest one in the country”, and even without this guarantee, the empty island beaches, whale watching and bird nesting grounds are truly a spectacular sight. Many of the beaches are surrounded by coral reefs, which are a great place to experience marine wildlife whilst snorkelling or diving. However, some of the beaches that do not have coral reefs are a paradise for another reason – surfing is all the rage here! Tahiti boasts another kind of diversity – most beaches here have heat-absorbing black volcanic sand, which make for a cool post-holiday story, and a memorable French Polynesia trip.
USA’s Most Famous Island – Hawaii Hawaii is the only island state of the USA, which lies outside North America. It is a place we all know and grow up with, a stereotypical notion of flower crowns and graceful hip-swinging line dances is what comes to mind first. But it is so much more than that – the culture that goes with respecting and nurturing their land, as well as its awe-striking island beaches are what Hawaiians pride more. It is also home to the ukulele, which is a small guitar-like instrument that is increasingly popular outside the islands as well. Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Big Island, Lanai and Molokai are their main tourist islands, which each host a myriad of underwater (and land-based!) attractions. All of these islands are picturesque movie-scene clichés brought to life, with the added bonus of a pink-and-orange hued sunset and wine to enjoy company with.
Number Six: Fiji Islands The Republic of Fiji lies in Melanesia, and is a part of the South Pacific Ocean. Its closest neighbour is New Zealand, another island country. There are so many things to do in Fiji, that it’s so hard to keep track of what your itinerary should look like – being one of the top places to go for adventure and extreme island sport is definitely one of them.Currently, the focus lies on its astoundingly beautiful beaches – two of which include Suncoast and Coral Coast. They are so diverse compared to each other, with the former boasting offshore reefs, an island adventure and hidden waterfalls, and the latter making you wonder whether you’re on an island or in a desert, with Sigatoka sand dunes. Much of Fiji’s landscape is untouched and naturally diverse, and the locals make sure that they give it the respect it deserves. It’s really easy to forget your worries over here, since the list of all the beach activities that one can do here just keeps expanding!
Seventh Heaven: The Bahamas The Bahamas is known for its beaches – and with over 2,000 islands being part of this archipelago, we’re not surprised! From honeymoons and family vacations to backpacker heaven – Bahamas has tailormade experiences to suit all kinds of tourist needs. Their large collection of island beaches are praised for its diversity: active beaches, secluded beaches, family friendly beaches… You name it! And really, the Bahamas beach culture goes way beyond the shore – with diving, snorkelling, boating, fishing, private flying (over these amazing coasts, of course) and countless water sports being some of the most viable options. You can taste the adventure at Blue Lagoon Island Beach, or have some quiet me-time with a book and tequila at Ford’s Beach – or do both, since you’re already here anyway!
● Last But Not Least, Thailand’s Island Beaches Thailand, formerly known as Siam, is a country in Southeast Asia that comprises over 76 provinces – it is also the number-one most-visited tourist destination in Asia, and for good reason, too. Some of Asia’s best beaches lie here, in Thailand. Waters are closer to a greenish-turquoise hue here, rather than the striking blue. They blend in well with the high-rising eroded cliffs and grainy white sand that beaches in Koh Lipe and Krabi are filled with. Getting on a long, slim boat with your significant other and cruising through these winding structures make for a day well spent! Many Thai beaches are secluded, with them having small private coves and a patch of lavish flora and fauna secretly waiting for you to explore. Other island beaches, such as those in more popular areas (Phuket, for example) are more localised and tourist-friendly. They have eateries and cities in nearer proximity, which make them ideal for a quick dip. Now that we’ve provided you with 8 of the coolest beaches to visit on islands, the question is – which one will you choose? The options are endless, and aren’t even just limited to those on the list – luckily, you can sit tight in comfort while making your pick, letting us at Visa2Fly guide you on your next enticing vacation! If you want to find out more about other countries with beautiflul waterbodies, our cool blogs can help with that! Check out our Finland, Denmark and Norway Pages as well.

tagged by the lovely @gawaine. thank you <3
are you named after someone? i think it was kelsey grammer...except not like in a ‘they idolize him’ kind of a way, they just liked the name ‘kelsey’ but then they changed it to ‘kelsea’ cause it actually looks like how it sounds. but i go by rain now anyways so.
when was the last time you cried? i whimpered a little bit at the end of some movie i was watching, but full on cry was when i broke down about being a failure in front of my mother.
do you like your handwriting? i actually do. i’ve never had particularly ugly penmanship so, i’ve always been proud of it lmao.

do you use sarcasm? ~never~
do you still have your tonsils? yep! still haven’t had to get them removed yet.
would you bungee jump? i’d love to, but after i found out about my retinal hole my eye doctor was like “bitch you can’t go bungee jumping. sky dying? yes. bungee jumping? never.” don’t know how much truth is in that statement, but i’d rather listen to a professional so, you know, i don’t lose my eye.
what is your favourite kind of cereal? i love chex and corn flakes. bran flakes are good too. for snacking, i like to eat count chocula, without the milk. or apple jacks.
do you untie your shoes when you take them off? depends on how tight they are at the end of the day. or what kind of shoes they are. most of mine are boots or high tops so i kind of have to untie them to get them off.
do you think you’re a strong person? emotionally? or physically? i like to believe if thrown into a situation where i have to prove i’m strong -- at least emotionally -- that i can prevail. physically however is a different story lmao.
what is your favourite ice cream flavor? i usually stick with good old fashioned chocolate. or some variation. i like vanilla but i only like one kind -- vanilla bean. but honestly, if you take me out for ice cream/frozen yogurt/gelato, i’ll try any flavor once. :)

who was the last person you spoke to on the phone? my grandfather or my mom.

eye color? brown with flecks of green.
do you wear contacts? nope. glasses, though.

Okay long time no post. But for all y'all who've missed me for the past seven or so years, I am back again, and this time on the lovely island Maui. I'm here with my very nice and very handsome manfriend (he's a man, not a boy) whom I love very much. Both of us were much in need of this vacation, post move to SF. I just started a new job, and Erik has been kicking butt at his current one, but we were both starved for a tropical break. Love our new place, love the city, but mojitos and mai tais in the warm waters was what was really going to hit the spot. So here we are now! We landed yesterday into Maui, got an amazing air bnb in Kihei, rented an adorable and eco-friendly Ford Fusion, and have been painting West Mail turquoise. Today, we woke up early to go snorkeling at Polo Beach. Polo beach is known for its nice snorkeling areas and occasional sea turtle sightings, and is right in front of the magnificent Fairmont. The Fairmont folks treated us to front row chairs on the sand, but no we did not just lay on the soft white towels and sunbathe... off snorkeling we went! I especially loved testing out our underwater camera and bobbing around in my life jacket. The water was a bit sandy so we couldn't see any fish, but we enjoyed floating in the shark-less/predator-less waves (ahem) nonetheless. Next stop was Big Beach. We drove south and stopped by a fruit stand on the way for some fresh coconut. Watching the lady hack the fruit with a machete was awesome within itself, but the fresh coconut water was heavenly. Both of us were parched at this point, so this was a perfect treat before continuing on our way. At Big Beach, we walked up and down the long stretch of soft sand and big waves, but it started drizzling so we headed back to the car. The cerulean waters with the orange sand set against a backdrop of gray clouds and green trees was a certainly unique sight. At least, unique for a "mainlander" like myself, who had only ever seen photos of Maui illuminated by bright sunshine. Off we went further south, down Makena Road. The road became windier as we made our way though lava formations. We were just driving and exploring but found ourselves at Lava Fields, where after finally finding parking, we were able to hike amongst the sharp black rocks. The landscape was surreal. On the left were lush green mountains shrouded by mist, and on the right, jagged lava cliffs jutting into the foamy waves, tearing them apart. Of course we stopped to take pictures, but neither of us felt the need to venture into the treacherous waters. After a small break at home, we drove to a sunset dinner in Lahaina. Koa's was the oceanside grill Erik picked out for us, and there, we enjoyed delicious seafood (me) and short rib (him). We also totally geeked out taking pictures with our Anker selfie stick (thank you Ben!) after dinner, we walked around downtown and shared the creamiest, fluffiest macadamia nut gelato. With our bellies full and bodies fueled and ready for the next day, we decided to turn in for the night. And with that I bid you all aloha!
